I. INTRODUCTION
===============
There's no doubt about it; The Colonel's Bequest is one extensive game. With
an extensive game comes many items with many uses. In fact, The Colonel's
Bequest has over 20 items, each one serving a significant purpose to the game,
and some of which are used more than once. Keeping track of where to find and
use all of these items can get very confusing, so I've just made everyone's
life a whole lot easier with this Item Guide. In here, you'll have every item
found in this game, and you'll be told where to use it and EXACTLY what to type
in order to use it. However, I won't go into great detail on how to use is, as
I want this guide to remain as spoiler-free as possible.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about this guide, please feel
free to send an e-mail over to

========================
II. HOW THIS GUIDE WORKS
========================
This guide is divided into five main sections, each of which is outlined below.
I. ITEM - This is the name of the item. Simple enough.
FOUND
II. FOUND - The area in which you can find the item.
III. TYPE - This is what you type in order to take the item.
USED
IV. USED - This is the area where you use the item.
V. TYPE - This is what you type to use the item.
The names of some of the rooms in The Colonel's Bequest have been shortened in
the interest of fitting every item on one or two lines. Below are the names of
the rooms and what they have been shortened to.
C. House - Carriage House
D. Hall - Downstairs Hallway
U. Hall - Upstairs Hallway
SP#2 - The Secret Passage behind the right armoire (between Laura & Lillian's
Room and Rudy & Clarence's Room)
SP#3 - The Secret Passage behind the clock in the downstairs hallway.
Celie's - Celie's Shack on the northeastern part of the esate.
Colonel's - Colonel Henri Dijon's room, across from Laura & Lillian's room.
Jeeves's - Jeeves's Room in the basement, outside of the Kitchen.
Wilbur's - Wilbur's Room, which is off of the Colonel's room.
Garden - Grassy area where the water nympth is.
Yard - Grass area below the Carriage House and Barn.
Bell - Area to the right of the church, above the doll house, and to the left
of the back of the mansion where the bell is located.
Some of the items have more than one use. If this is the case, its second use
is stated under its first use. I am getting a feeling that the seocond uses
are incomplete, so if you can help me fill it up, I'd be most grateful.

IV. Closing Remarks
===================
This is one short game. However, length, or lack thereof, doesn't necessarily
constitute shoddy quality. In fact, The Colonel's Bequest is possibly one of
the best PC games on the market. It can be beaten in just under an hour if
you're a speed demon, yet it has such an interesting, mysterious story plot
that it's shortness becomes lost in its many other good features. The
Colonel's Bequest isn't a well-known game among today's high-action,
low-thinking game among blood-hungry gamers, but if you're any type of gamer
that appreciates traditional games with absolutely wonderful stories, you must
check this game out.
While it is very difficult to find on its own (you can check E-Bay), you may
purchase the "Roberta William's Anthology", which includes this game, among its
sequel, The Dagger of Ammon Ra, the first seven King's Quest games, many of
Roberta's Apple 2 games, and a short, but sweet Mother Goose game. While we
may never see Laura Bow in a video game again, we can always hope that Roberta
will one day realize that this game has made a huge impact on the gaming
society, and another title that meets and exceedes the standards of The
Colonel's Bequest is needed.
In closing, do yourself a huge favor, and play this game.
