FAQ
1) Introduction
What's the Inquisitor?
It's action RPG made by Cinemax set in medieval era inspired by middle
european history but there are no people
from real life history or any city that you can find in
Google Map or history books.
Action RPGs are known as "Diablo clones" but this
game is closer to Divine Divinity (by Larian).
2) Which class to choose
I recommend Priest with his casting skill and ranged combat ability.
Yes, he can use bows in pretty effective way.
Which is good because melee is not fun anyway.
Not that surpsising as Thief who have better casting skill than Paladin
(because one of them is noble and other have peasant herritage).
Distance from enemies save you from troubles like numerous status effects.
Just don't forget to buy more arrows when you buy potions...
3) Difference between classes
It's certain that you will use magic in your journey.
It really help you in some cases like Levitation
to cross fire/toxic pools or pits,
and Salvations to keep you alive for longer.
Paladin have basic magic knowledge that let him cast Levitation,
Raise Dead companions,
Heal, Salvation, Light, Sith Sense (identify spell),
Thief can cast Infernal Hounds (nice distracting spell, better than
companions tbh), Holy Ground and Divine Mercy.
Different classes have different stat cap, for example -
only Priest can raise Intelligence up to
100 with skillpoints (to raise more - he need items).
4) What's the difference between difficulty settings?
This is another tricky part. It change hitpoints of any living creature
(that include our companions!)
except our character.
Some people say higher difficulty increase experience received or
give better stats for items but honestly -
it's not worth it turning the game into bigger hassle with all
these HP bloated abominations.
5) Companions
Your first joinable NPC is a paladin aiding you (with little twist later)
in the journey (combat only,
does not get involved into investigations).
They die fast on lower difficulty setting due small health pool.
You want them alive - get Raise Dead asap.
If you play Thief or Priest you can use all these hoarded healing potions.
But beware -
companion stamina runs out really fast! You will loose whole
tab of stamina potions
after cleaning one dungeon if not more.
Another companion is Olgaf from Ashbery - break into his hut,
proove his innocence and he walk
to the town centre. He need money for every 100 kills and
his stats are weak.
There is another paladin in Act3 near Baron's house but have
weakers stats than Hugo.
Depend on the class you can hire additional manpower.
As a paladin - can hire your brothers but not sure when and how
since I despised melee in the game.
Thief can hire baron's soldiers (bodyguards) when he get his noble title back.
Priest can hire inquisitors but he need to pass 3rd and final exam
(in latin on top of that).
6) Skills
You have limited amount of skillpoints and it's important to
focus on one skill to
raise hight enough to reach satisfying and effective tier.
I do not recommend investing in Alchemy skill.
Potions are cheap and there is
enough Devil Roots to make permament potions.
To raise skill one tier higher (out of four, with
Master being the highest)
you need to get high enough character level, required skill
level and high stat
(Inteligence for schools of magic etc.).
You have to reach Level 15 to get your first decent
offensive spell.
You need more points to raise these skills after
certain moment.
Level 1-5=1 skill point to raise by one
6-10=2
11-15=3
16-20=4 skillpoints to raise skill by one.
With that in mind you need to focus on 2 skills and maybe
rise some skills up to 2-3rd tier.
Another important thing - it's not THAT important if you
have your skill one lvl higher or
lower (with exception of magic, which increase casting success)
as long as you reachone of the 4 tiers - Novice, Student,
Initiate and Magister for magic and Apprentice,
Disciple, Journeyman and Master for non magic skills.
Reaching next tier VASTLY improve your gameplay.
7) Traps!
You should be aware about some of skills. Some of them are barely
useful and some does not work at all.
One of them is Identify skill. I raised it to 2nd tier (Disciple)
and still could not research items' propriety.
Perception is easily raised with potions and spells.
Flagellantism is not that important as long as Holy Aura is high enough
(both need Strength to raise).
8) Magic
Poison is awful state when your character will lost 1hp every second for
nearly 4 minutes, not fun.
There are potion of antidote but they slow down poison,
only Cure Disease potion deal
with them at once. There are spell like Cure Disease and Purge but
they hardly work, just when you need them.
Question: is there any form of teleportation in the game?
Answer: Yes. But only Thief and Priest can use them.
To use teleportation you need to
learn Divine Magic at Initiate (3/4) level and have
access to two spells -Divine Mercy and Holy Ground.
Holy Ground is area where demonic and undead enemies get
destroyed or receive high damage.
Once casted it will stay forever (no mana drain or timer or anything).
Divine Mercy is some kind of recall spell that bring caster to
place where Holy Ground was
casted last time. Sort of like Lloyd' Beacon from Might%Magic
RPGs but without time limit.
I recommend you to cast Holy Ground at the herbalist woman door
once you bring her book (she have best prices).
Best offensive spell? Dark Mass from Infernal school of magic.
See that room full of
nasty enemies? Click right mouse button inside and watch them die.
Cleaning dungeons full of casters and status effect spammers is a bless
(won't spoil you when that nasty surprise happen).
9) Some notes
Average level at the end of the acts
Act1=lvl20
Act2=lvl35
Act3=lvl50
If you're not affraid of outer software
I recommend CheatEngine and his speedhacks.
Launch CheatEngine.exe, go to Edit->Settings->Hotkeys,
set Speedhack Speed+ to [,
Speedhack Speed- to ] and Speedhack Speed1 to/. Then scan for game in
Don't worry about people saying it will ban you
(VACban in singleplayer game? give me a break)
because it's not multiplayer game here, Steam does not care
about you cheating in single player titles, at all.
This way you don't need to suffer extreme low pacing of certain games
(especially when there is A LOT of walking...
-If you want to have access to cheapest potions
(18coins instead of 27) and get more
cash for every item sold you have to go to the first village
and do quest for herbalist old woman.
You get job to bring back special book from orc shaman.
He have his camp in
Iron Mines location (outside). Stick to the eastern part of the
map and slowly walk to the north and
kill any orc you find and try to lure him. He have blue ring under
his feet which show his will to talk.
Ignore him and punish this inferial being! If you try to talk he will
smite you faster than you say "Amen".
I recommend to save some magic seals and fire it all at him.
Book is in the locked (and trapped!)
chest along with Inferial Magic book (best offensive spells along with
Dark Mass to clean rooms and Inferial Hounds).
-you can find locked chests in some houses and they often have good
content and some of them have
even relics! But opening them spawn city guards that will punish you
no matter what,
even with invisibilty or sneaking enabled.
I don't remember if you can cast Divine Mercy to run away from them...
-what are Devil Roots?
When you talk with herbalist woman in the first town
you get some informations.
They let you make potions raising random stat by 1.
You can save/load to get potion that you want.
It will cost you 1000gold per potion but after cleaning Iron Mines
money will be not a problem (for some times).
-there is dog in the first town, in the basement where sheriff is.
There is dungeon where all accused persons end awaiting your interrogarions.
Pet him and he will join you.
You can have one human and dog at the same time in your team.
-alligment (no karma, that's different setting)
Casting spells from school of evil magic does not decrease alligment.
What decrease it? Attacking innocent people, torturing people
(even guilty ones!)
but hurting innocents have way higher impact) and doing quests for
(more than) questionable beings
(especially jobs in Act3, one of them include dead sinister who
raised from his grave in your very presence, groovy).
*spoiler*
final movie is the same, only text change.
-Field tests prooved that Armor Class Agains Missles does not work at all.
-Get money from Valerian and go to the tavern, talk with barkeeper
and when you want to
leave he ask you for 1000gold coins, I recommend you to do it.
In the Act2 (or 3?) you
pay a visit to the tavern in the city, where one of the barkeeper's
relatives work and
reward you for your help with lot of cash and experience points.
-if you want quick cash you can test your luck
(or save/load for best result)
with gambling at the tavern
10) Final exam answers
