I. FAQ Info
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
November 21, 2018
I totally meant to get these out sooner, like last Christmas. Ah well, my bad.
In any case, I now grant GameFAQs the ability to host this document meant to
help guide people through this game.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
II. Controls
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please read the manual if you've a copy of it. Otherwise:
-------------Terms-------------
GP - Game currency. You need this to buy stuff. You will also have a lot of it
    in Volume 4 if you've been following me until now.
Exp - Experience. It takes 1000 experience to get from one level to the next.
Lv - Level. There are 3 types to look for. One is your character level which
    goes as high as 150 in Redemption (as well as Reconnection), and it takes
    1000 exp to get from one to the next. Second is the Weapon Level, which is
    capped at 30 in the third volume as well, and you level this by using your
    skills on that weapon or by using special items.
Party - You play mainly as Haseo. You can have up to two characters from your
    member address list travel and battle alongside Haseo.
Desktop - This game has two modes. One is the main where you walk around and
    interact with other characters in a simulated MMORPG called The World.
    The other is the desktop, which is like a big menu full of options for you
    to explore. This provided a number of things to help play the game, though
    so much is locked out during Reconnection.
Affection - Each character you add to Haseo's address list has a gauge in the
    form of a heart with up to five orbs around it. At this point, it is an
    obligatory touch leftover from previous volumes.
Chim - As you kick most Chim Chims (normal, rare, and King) you gain some Chim
    Spheres. These are useful for opening doors, activating some warps, and
    rescuing Mecha Grunty each of 50 times per game. You can carry up to 99,
    (999 in Last Recode) but they're so very easy to replenish. Watch for for
    the Chim Assassins and for the stomp attacks from the King Chim and God
    Chim Chim.
HP - The health your characters have. This isn't limbo. You want this to be
    higher rather than lower.
SP - Skill Points. The more you have, the more often you can use skills.
P-ATK - Your physical/weapon attacks' damage is based on this.
P-DEF - Your ability to resist physical attacks is based on this.
M-ATK - Magic attacks are based on this.
M-DEF - Resistance to magic attacks is based on this.
Fire/Water/Wind/Earth/Light/Dark - These influence your attacks and defenses
    by adding these elements to both. I would love to help you with this, but
    it is my experience to keep opposites (Fire and Water, Wind and Earth, and
    Light and Dark) close enough to balanced. Feel free to play with these at
    your own leisure. Additionally, it helps to just go ham on all of them,
    such as using Fortune accessories at the end of Reminisce and start of
    Redemption.
Status Effects - Below are some ailments against your status. They will only
    affect you during battle, which makes the expansion for Guild Rank 9 a
    waste since there was a Platform Heal earlier on in the trilogy.
Curse - Depletes SP gradually. Voodoo is stronger.
Poison - Depletes HP over time. Venom is stronger.
Sleep - Makes target unable to move until they are healed or hit. For this, I
    typically don't worry about it. A couple PKs and Arena fighters counter
    with this, but it's still hardly any trouble, especially if you have the
    protection ahead of time. Siesta is more effective.
Seal - Makes you unable to use skills or items. Banish is stronger.
Paralysis - Makes you unable to move for a time. Sometimes, this effect takes
    a break for a second or two, so bust out a skill trigger as soon as you
    can move. With luck, that will kill something. Shackle is stronger. This
    is definitely something you'll want to protect against with Customize when
    I mention it in the guide.
Slow - Makes you move slow. Obvious, right? It's more annoying than a problem,
    really. Stun is stronger to the point of making targets stop. (I haven't
    hit or been hit with Stun to the best of my knowledge)
Charm - Makes target attack his or her own allies. You can also target them
    when they are affected this way, which can be annoying when you are trying
    to switch targets or keep aim on one enemy. Seducing is more effective.
Confusion - Makes someone attack their party members. Insanity's a stronger
    version of this.
Area Ranks - When you leave an area you are then graded according to your over-
    all performance, and then given an item from a pool of rewards.
  * In an area, the ranking is based on surprise attacks, enemy parties you've
         beaten, Chim Spheres collected, chests opened, and objects destroyed.
         When you earn a rank of B or higher, you earn a nice prize such as a
         keyword or a decent item.
Area Level - When you select to go to an area, you see a large number over the
    picture of what the area will look like. That tells you the average level
    of the enemies you encounter. Item Level is shown in the +/- bar below
    that picture, and tells you how good or bad the items are in that area.
Server - This series' idea of a server is one of five roots to the many areas.
    In Rebirth, we had the Delta and Omega servers only. Each server has one
    root town from which we can visit other areas, though Omega has only the
    root town. Reconnection brought everything back down to Delta for us to
    start with. I'll note things like (A) for Delta and (E) for Sigma.
Save/Load - Through Data Manager or a Save Shop in a town, you can save a file
    of your progress on a memory card. You can load through the Data Manager,
    but also load the saved file through loading up this game.
Cheat Mode - Have you ever wanted to make an already easy game even easier,
    but you weren't around for the glory days of Game Genie and Game Shark?
    Have you ever looked at the trophy/achievement list in a modern game and
    then though, "You know, I don't care about being a completionist and
    instead just want to say I beat these games?" If you said yes, then this
    feature might be for you.
       * Invalidate one whole trophy ("Knows No Bounds"), which is a rather
              easy trophy to achieve (Getting Haseo to level 150 through
              legitimate means in either Vol.3 or Vol.4).
       * Play with maxed level and high-end equipment, essentially making the
              vast majority of the first few volumes both easy and boring as
              far as the already-easy (but fun) gameplay goes.
       * For the purpose of these guides, I will not be using Cheat Mode.
-------------Movement and Interaction-------------
Walk/Run - Use the left analog stick. Tilting it lightly causes slow motion.
    (Note: As of "Last Recode" your movement speed will be increased by a
         noticeable amount. It was fine before, but hey! Here you go.)
Examining/Selecting - X button. This only works if something to examine is
    within range, or if there is a choice to be made. Don't ask why you can't
    talk to an NPC on the other side of town when you aren't moving.
Kicking - X button. This works when your target is a breakable object, a chest
    you are trying to open, a steam switch, or a Chim Chim. Again, it must be
    within range to even be a target.
Trapped Chests - These look like normal chests except for the occasional shake.
    When you kick one open, you have -3 seconds- to put in the right combo of
    buttons. If you mess up, you have the time remaining to do the combo all
    over. If you fail, Haseo takes damage. If you succeed, the reward might
    even be a little better than the rest of the area.
Target Toggling - When multiple targets are in range use the digital pad to
    switch from target to target.
Cancel - Circle button. You do this to exit out of menus and such.
Camera Angles - R2 puts the camera in Haseo's perspective, but then you cannot
    move around more than Haseo's point of view. L2 quickly moves the camera
    behind Haseo so you can see what you're moving towards. The right analog
    adjusts the camera angle manually even while you move.
Gather - By pressing L1 in a field or dungeon, you can call your party members
    over to Haseo's position. This is helpful in some situations.
Data Search - Starting early in Redemption you can press R1 to hack the area
    around you. If you are close enough to some white noise, and not blocked
    by walls or elevation changes, then this will reveal an Anomalous Data.
    An Anomalous Data can either have an item in it or warp you to another
    Area in the game. (The warps only happen in story Areas)
-------------Menus and Such-------------
Open a Menu - Triangle button. This works as long as you are walking around in
    a town, a field, a dungeon, or in a battle (not when you're being flung
    around or doing an attack). If you're in a menu, this won't work, so do
    not ask why you can't open the main menu while in the middle of a trade.
Item Info - When you are highlighted over an item, press the Square button to
    receive info about that item.
Store Menu - Talk to the NPC or character running the store, press X, and then
    select to view their wares. You will see price amounts. If you have the
    money to pay for the item you want, then press X while highlighting that
    same item.
Item/Option Highlighting - Move either the left analog stick or the digital pad
    in the direction it takes to get from option to option.
Chaos Gate Menu - While in a town, examine the Chaos Gate. Select Warp Menu to
    see a bunch of options. You used to be able to use keywords from three
    pools to produce an area, such as a field or dungeon, to visit. In this
    volume, however, you can only visit pre-set areas in your Bookmarks. Bear
    this in mind if, for some reason, you need to level.
Trade - Talk to a character either walking around or that is in your party. If
    your party member isn't wanting to show the normal options, they will when
    you are in an area. Select to Trade. You will see your item box on the
    left, the other person's on the right, and an icon between them. Go into
    the other person's box to view their items, and select up to five types
    of items (five pieces of equipment, 3 pieces and 2 different items, etc.,)
    before you cancel out once to see that box filled with what you want. You
    then do a similar process in picking items from Haseo's inventory up to
    five types, and keep adding items until the Negotiate bar below fills. As
    long as the said bar is all red and says "Trade OK" you can select the
    icon in the middle to end the transaction.
Gift - You can select Trade with your party members. There is no Trade window,
    but you do see your own list of items as to what you wish to give. This
    helps in the affection level just a bit.
-------------About Battles-------------
Yay, they're not random. The battles are in set places, though you COULD make
and enemy party follow you to the other side of the map. There is a variety of
ways to get into a battle:
    Story or Event - There's no avoiding or surprise in these battles. They
         will start after any number of scenes.
    Just Starting w/ X - When enemies in a field or dungeon see you, and you
         select X on the target that does, a battle will start.
    Surprise - When an enemy does not see you you will jump at the enemy in a
         surprise attack by pressing X. When one enemy sees you, you can often
         toggle targets to one who does not, but act fast.
Attack - Press X like you're interacting with an object or a character. Your
    equipped weapon has one of a couple attack patterns to it.  You can always
    hold down on X to release a big attack, but Dual Swords and Broadswords
    work one of two ways each. One is the Hold and Release pattern, which is
    reliant on holding X, but you can still do a few quick hits by pressing X
    a few times. The other pattern is the rapid attack in which you can press
    X repeatedly after the first few attacks in order to add to your chain of
    hit combos. (I like the rapid on Dual Swords, and am easy on Broadswords)
Skill Trigger - You can set these in the menu outside of battle. You start off
    with pressing R1, and you see one of four shortcuts to weapon skills as
    equipped to the X, Circle, Square, and Triangle buttons. You then press
    the respective button to use that skill. You then have to wait a couple
    seconds before the next Skill Trigger is available for use.
Double Trigger - After getting the Xth Form, you can follow up a Skill Trigger
    within two seconds with a Double Trigger by pressing R1 inside of the one-
    to-two seconds you have after doing a Skill Trigger. This does a sort of
    skill with the Dual Guns for. Useful if you want to keep a short distance
    to not be countered with some status effect.
Rengeki - When you have racked up the hit combos, colorful rings appear around
    a target for a short time. QUICKLY use a Skill Trigger on that enemy when
    those rings are still up to launch a Rengeki, which does more damage and
    adds to the Morale Gauge.
Morale Gauge - This fills up by Haseo and members of your party doing something
    to cause any number of characters to speak out in battle (as it appears
    next to their stats on the bottom left of the screen). The Morale Gauge
    is in the top right. Once it fills, it will ring once, and flash for you
    to use the Square button. This stays full until you leave an area or once
    you use an Awakening. With a Beast Awakening, you can begin with half a
    bar, but a full one is more advisable still.
Awakening - In Rebirth, you have only the Beast Awakening. During the time you
    are in an Awakening (by pressing Square with at least half a Morale Gauge)
    you will deal more damage than usual.  You cannot do a Rengeki during an
    Awakening, but you can rack up the hits enough to where a Rengeki might
    follow the Awakening wearing off. In Arena Battles, the Morale wears out
    about as fast as having half the gauge filled outside the Arena, and full
    gauges outside the Arena last MORE THAN twice as long.
Demon Awakening - At the start of Reminisce, this rather useless Awakening is
    added. It pours your Morale into Haseo and his party mates performing a
    big, one-hit spell that looks cool and gets stronger with multiple taps of
    the X button. That's all.
Avatar Awakening - The Divine Awakening was hacked by an anonymous ally at the
    start of Redemption. You will see one of three battle animations for this
    depending on whether it is "Data Drain," "Drain Arc," or "Drain Heart" as
    this awakening levels up. The more you use it, the stronger AA gets until
    it finally reaches level 10. For using it, you deal lots of damage plus
    you gain Virus Cores depending on an enemy's size.
         Players             - none
         Small Monsters      - 1
         Medium Monsters     - 2
         Big (Boss) Monsters - 3
       * As a suggestion for quicker gains, try using AA against Bosses, enemy
              parties with a Medium and two Small targets, or else two Medium
              targets. This way, it's 3-4 Virus Cores per use.
Game Over - When you run out of health, you have to start over from the last
    place you saved.
Items/Spells - To use these in battle, you must open the main menu and select
    what you want to use from there. The spells will be under Skills, not
    Skill Trigger.
III. Entity's Corner
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"The World" was the biggest online game since a disaster known as Pluto's Kiss.
In the year 2017, it was on its second revision since Fragment, and a kid who
lost memories of playing in Revision 1 after a trauma he experienced joined the
game only to find himself PK'd. A few months later, he became the PKK known as
The Terror of Death.

He sought revenge for a mysterious crime he did not understand, hoping to bring
back someone he lost. It led him down a long, winding road in which he made new
friends and allies, as well as enemies, and the boy grew into the hero he was
destined to become out of the machinations of another man.

Now, several months later, and at the end of the current version of The World,
Haseo has decided to log on one last time to find and awaken his old friend.

  * For the purpose of this guide (A) will be Delta. Then again, there will be
         no other server that we can visit in this volume.

Select to play a New Game. If you have a Clear Data from Redemption then you'll
be able to convert it for Reconnection.

*THIS GUIDE CONTINUES FROM A COMPLETED REDEMPTION, (not that it matters)*

Also, minor spoilers ahead. You'll still be left to see the what, how, or why
in greater detail, but I'll let you know when a name or event comes up that is
relevant to that moment.

-------------Playing Another Finale-------------

               ~~Part 1: Homecomings and Other Reentries~~
                                (The Return)

If you converted from Redemption then, before the game even starts, you will
receive a Demon Bat Horn, one Maiden's Hair, a Body Butterfly, a Mind Butterfly
as well, and 10,000 GP. This will also provide you with an additional movie for
your Desktop. Everything else you worked so hard for before now will be there.
Had you started fresh then you'll be at a lower level with not-so-spectacular
gear equipped.

Several features from the previous volumes will be restricted, because, in the
game's story, so much data is missing.

The game begins with Haseo recapping what happened over the last fifteen months
since he first started playing The World R:2. You will learn, upon reaching the
Desktop, that updates stopped altogether. So select "The World" and "Log In"
when you are able.

Mac Anu--

The opening scene here will direct you to the Chaos Gate. Veterans will know
how to operate this circular device. Newbies will have to learn to target and
select the hovering blue disc, and go through the menu selections to find the
first story destination.

Don't worry, nothing is really missable in this short game. Select the Chaos
Gate for another scene. Haseo will refer to Pi by her real name. She will then
explain the game's situation for you in further detail. We have a few days to
save Ovan; we'll need a few hours (real time).

Everyone on your party list is Busy, so you cannot invite them. Their Affection
levels will be the same as how you left off in Redemption.

When you select the Bookmark option you will see a handful of areas listed just
below the one you want to go. Those are for leveling up if you need it. Haseo
at level 150 instead of the 130s will not need those areas, but now you know
that they're there. You can go to one now if you wish, but there is no need.

NOTE: Reaching Level 150 in volumes 3 or 4, without using Cheat Mode, will pop
a trophy, as I will cover in the relevant section below.

(A) Hidden Forbidden Dark Grotto--

Approach the crystal for a janky, animated cutscene, totally in a different
style from what we saw in previous volumes. We're told that Ovan sleeps here
while his real life body is in a coma.

Once you are done exploring this cavern, use the Chaos Gate to leave.

Mac Anu--

Enjoy the following scene. You will then have the opportunity to talk with a
small bunch of familiar folks, and see what they've been up to until now.

Not to spoil too much, but Central Square will have Alkaid, Kaede, Atoli,
Tabby, and Gaspard and Silabus standing around waiting for you to come to them.
You will need to speak to all of them to proceed. This might actually be my
favorite scene with Atoli in the whole series, to be honest.

Once the scenes are over, we'll need to go meet Aina somewhere. Now you can
freely explore Mac Anu, what's left of it. You cannot ride around on the bike,
so quicker travel means using the warps.

  * Since I had them from last volume, I equipped the Demon Safe Shoes just to
         run about faster in this town. The shops and @HOME features are gone,
         so it was just a run in an empty sandbox, basically.

Use the Chaos Gate once you are ready.

(A) Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground--

View another scene. I swear there's combat in this volume, but it's not here,
not yet. Still, it's good to see Ovan's sister again. Now, back to town.

Mac Anu--

Another janky-animation scene, this one introducing us to someone new.

It's time, finally, to run a dungeon and put a team together. You are more than
welcome to invite whomever you like, but I chose Alkaid and Atoli. Saving is
entirely up to you.

(A) Unknown Evening's Drama of Deliverance--

This is a cloister style dungeon, meaning each Block is a spiral corridor with
a few rooms every so often, and it's as linear as this volume as a whole. Take
advantage of fighting the monsters, and building and using Rengeki attacks,
if you need the experience at all. You have to fight, anyways, to bring down
barriers so you can pass, but you only have to fight monsters in the immediate
vicinity to any one barrier.

The first door you come to needs a combination to open properly. You will find
Trapspores, Goblin Generals, and Noble Pains as you climb upward. The third
door should be one needing Chim Spheres instead of a combination. The second
Block adds more monsters to the mix, such as the Harpy Queen

Continue like this until you meet and fight Duke Orius, which is just a simple
boss monster guarding the Beast Temple. A scene triggers upon its defeat. The
new character from before, by the way, is named Kusabira. She asks for your
help, and explains what happened.

Grabbing the chest is optional, at the Beast Statue. Gate out when you're done
with this place.

               ~~Part 2: A Warped World~~
                      (Exasperation)

Mac Anu--

Saving is once more recommended. For that matter, so is running one of the few
optional areas you have listed if you aren't 150 yet. The one area alone won't
get you there, but every little bit helps when fighting enemies in these games.

(A) Disputing Superior New World--

In case you couldn't guess, clearing out these areas of breakable objects, the
chests, and monsters, is unnecessary. You need only grab what's needed, such as
the Chim Spheres, if you were running low at all (doubtful).

Progress through this cavernous dungeon. Fairy's Orbs, such as Atoli likes to
carry around five at a time, and the Fairy Queen Orb from last volume's Forest
of Pain can help you figure out the best route to take, whether you're trying
to level more or not.

The route will be mostly linear, either way. If you have the Demon Safe Shoes
then you can skip every monster along the way, or you can make those surprise
attacks so easy to perform that you're not wasting time waiting on an opening.

On the third floor of the dungeon, you will get a scene upon entering the last
big room before the Beast Statue to the east. Make sure you are ready for a
fight before the scene happens and the Shadow Vegalta shows up.

***Vegalta, and G'Delgs***
HP: 9000

This fight has a very basic mechanic, for something so terrible that it eats
all sorts of data. Kill the adds, hurt the boss once the barrier is down, and
repeat until the fight is over. In the mid to high 130s this could take some
time and effort; at 150 this will go fast.

So whack away at the G'Delg adds to bring that barrier down, and kill the ugly,
digital baby demon. Sorry, I don't even know how much health the adds have;
they died so fast for me.
***End of Battle***

Another scene. Aannnd you can vacate the dungeon when you're through.

Mac Anu--

Via radio, Pi will send the next destination. (Save Data: "Connection")

warp you come across will require a few chim spheres, as will a few others. It
is mostly straight-forward, with the one detour being Warp #1. The quickest way
forward is to start at #2, fuel #4, and head down to the next Block.

Now that we are better acquainted with the linearity for even these so-called
puzzles, go from warp to warp on the 2nd Block. The only deviation here is when
you can go north at one point to a couple chests and monster groups, should you
want any of that. Otherwise use the pink warp before that locked door, and keep
going to the last block of the dungeon.

There are no warp points on the 3rd Block. Follow the single path. In the last
big room before the Statue, kill the Huge Grudge monster so that you will be
allowed to open the door leading onward. This will also cause the Anomalous
Data to appear in the same room as the boss. You can nab the treasure at the
Beast Statue if you want, but do not use the Platforms to leave. Instead, use
R1 around the white noise you see, and interact with the new warp that appears.

Tartarga--

There will be a short, janky-animation scene upon your arrival. The stores are
open here, in case you need to dump a few items to make room in your inventory.
You can Save too.

Go south to the Bridge for a scene. Pi's back, and some friends and allies are
here to talk to you. So head out to the main area of Netslum to speak with
Sakubo, Kuhn, Endrance, Kaede, Atoli, Alkaid, Shino, Gaspard and Silabus, and
Tabby. She'll be hanging out in the corridor leading to the Bridge; I'm not so
sure if she's always there at this point, or if she only appears after the rest
of your friends have been spoken with. Another scene follows, during which I
feel like she is all talk and no ears around Haseo.

  * You may notice now that almost everyone is available for an invite, save
        for just a few people.

Return for the Bridge for another scene. Please, do not turn the number of
scenes in this game into a separate drinking game. Anyways, Pi will hand you a
necessary item, a MOD Program, to use against the threat after describing what
the Vegalta is. You'll also get the next destination, which we'll be able to
access from the Chaos Gate in Tartarga. You don't need to swap servers on the
Gate menu, since that sub-feature is missing.

               ~~Part 3: Operation Modification~~
                             (Allies)

Party up, save, and let's go to our next destination. If your level is still
only 140 or lower then I recommmend Sakubo for damage. At 150, bring anyone you
like who's available.

(E) Sacred Ruined Abandoned Isle--

After another scene, proceed though the mostly linear dungeon as normal. From
the one fork in B1, you'll want to go south to continue onward.

For the second block, B2, you'll be wanting to head north from the forked path
in order to go forward.

As for B3, you'll want to take the southernmost doorway going west so that you
can reach the pink warp point. Take that to the other side, and continue down
the path to the next floor.

B4 is the last floor of this dungeon. At the intersecting room, take the north
route to press on. You'll be treated to another cutscene and boss fight in the
big room before the Beast Statue.

***Vegalta, Phenojelly, and Haggis***
HP: 9000

Honestly I'm trying to decide the bigger joke between the addition to the old
mechanic, from last time, versus the painfully obvious wordplay we can make
with the monster's name and health. One is old, done, and boring, and the other
is a reference to a classic show.

What's this addition, you ask? The adds are supposed to go down with elemental
abilities, hence why I suggested Sakubo. Phenojelly has 800 health, Haggis has
700 plus armor, and Vegalta has the same amount of health as before. Being at
level 150 with good gear makes this a curbstomp. I probably could have let Saku
and Atoli do the whole thing in the time is took me to type this.

The fight will pause before you bring Veg's health to 0, giving a cutscene in
which the MOD is used. Now finish this thing off.
***End of Battle***

. . Or that happens. After the janky animation is over for this dungeon, grab
the main treasure if you wish, and then leave here.

Tartarga--

Report to Pi and Zelkova on the Bridge. It's scene time again. Enjoy your new,
obligatory form change, the Ultimate Steel. This will lock away Haseo's other
weapons and abilities, and force you into one type of weapon with its combos,
arts, and alteration to Double Triggers.

Now you are given another moment to talk to your allies: Pi & Yata, Tabby,
Kuhn, Atoli, Alkaid, Gaspard & Syllabus, Shino & Aina, Sakubo, and Endrance.
During these talks, Pi will hand you the next destination. Afterward, you'll
get another animated scene; this one more or less confirms something suspected
about Zelkova since Redemption (especially if you sent the right messages to
him via email in that volume).

Everyone is available for an invite except for Saku, even though we haven't
seen some of them show up to these talks as of yet. Anyways, invite a couple
party members that you like working with.

               ~~Part 4: Growth and Death~~
                        (Extremes)

Save your game. There will be a short scene upon touching the Chaos Gate, but
you'll still have to go through your Bookmarks (Save Data: "Revival"). You can
try to level up some more if you want to (and aren't 150 already), but the next
destination should ultimately be:

(E) Glowing Genesis's The Boundary--

Oh look, the 1st Block has two whole deviations from the main path. In both of
these cases, the way forward is west.

In the 2nd Block, the northern route is the way to go.

Warp points can be found all over the 3rd Block. It's linear, however. Just go
from one warp point to the next, and continue on without accidentally warping
out of here by the Platform at the end; that would be silly.

Go north from the third big room, in order to head onward. We do not need to
check the chest at the Beast Statue, but you're welcome to do so. Before you do
that, or find the Anomalous Data, you'll have to fight the boss monster here.
It's just a Chaos Empress.

The game will warn you that entering the Anomalous Data will result in a point
of no return. You should be fine, so use it.

(A) Hidden Forbidden Dark Grotto--

There will be an animated cutscene, and one heck of one. I won't explain the
how or why, but your party of three excluding Ovan becomes a duo of Haseo plus
Ovan, and you're in another area (sort of).

Outer Dungeon--

Note that Ovan will be level 147 against Haseo's 150. The monsters here will
give only a pittance of experience per fight compared to that. Whether you want
to try leveling Ovan or not I do suggest raising Morale for a Beast Awakening
before you get to the last boss.

Unlike in Redemption, this Outer Dungeon has multiple floors. The first one is
super linear before you reach Duke Orius, which is keeping you from progressing
to the pink warp point.

Second Floor: Woo, more linearity! I love hallway simulators. Anyways, keep on
moving forward through the monsters until you get to another boss monster, the
Dryramas. Kill it and use the next warp.

The Third Floor is a straight line. Like, seriously. Make sure you're healed up
and wearing the gear you want to before reaching the last room.

There will be a scene and then a fight.

***Vegalta, Phenojelly, and Haggis***
HP: 9650

This time, the adds will respawn once the barrier is down, to try and swarm you
as you go to hurt the boss proper. The Beast Awakening, with enough Morale, can
skewer that noise if you are having too much trouble managing here.

Adds will also include bosses from before, so watch out for that.
***End of Battle***

Another scene will follow your victory against the demon baby.

***Moralta***
We finally get an Avatar battle, and it's . . . against the demon baby fused
with a caterpillar's tail and the corpse of several big bosses from the entire
trilogy. I'm not even going to comment further on that one.

Anyways, if you recall the Avatar battle against Cubia in Redemption then this
will play a fair amount like that. If not? Well, hold down the indicated button
for stuns so you can deplete this thing's stun bar (blue). It will summon adds,
but keep charging until you see orange circles, and fire away whilst dodging
the crap thrown at you.

Once a stun happens, Dash inward once and start spamming your normal attack
button until you are pushed away, and the stun shield returns. Moralta will do
Visitor from Hades again to summon more adds, and the fight repeats until the
first boss corpse dies.

The yellow health bar returns to full when you move on to the next part that
you have to slay, with the second basically being Cernunnos from volumes I and
III. Corpse's Delsion is where it summons skulls that you have to slash or else
they'll come and hit you for some damage. Hit them back at the Cernunnos corpse
in order to stun Moralta again for the next assault.

Third on the chopping block is the corpse of the One Sin. Watch out for its
beam attack, especially as ths part of Moralta likes to use it while the adds
are out. Dash to the side when Omega Flash appears on your screen.

Your fourth target is ths thing's main face. It spews many, many adds, and then
uses a homing beam on you to try healng itself by eating your data. Dash away
from its face as best as you can when that Demon Stomach ability happens. The
Vampire Prey attack is dodged much the same way by dashing sideways repeatedly
before it eats you.

Once the main head is hurt enough, Protect Break will happen. Hold down your
attack button as you navigate sideways to dodge artillary. Unleash your Data
Drain once you're in the clear, but don't hesitate so long. You don't want to
have to redo any of the previous phases, I'm sure.
***End of Battle***

Now for more cutscenes. Enjoy the ending . . . or is it the end? Well, you did
just earn the trophy for completing Volume 4. What more is there?

-------------Finishing One Last Endgame-------------

                   (.hack//G.U. Vol.4 Clear Data)

Congratulations on beating the main game. You now get to experience the final
day of The World R:2 for as long as you like, meaning far longer than a whole
day if you care for it, or less if you don't. You also have a few extra music
tracks, wallpapers, and cutscenes to view at your leisure.

Right off the bat, though, you are directed back to town in The World.

Mac Anu--

You will be prompted to talk with everyone around town. Ths means your friends
and allies, but you can see other characters as well. For instance, IYOTEN and
Asta are right outside the Dome, east of the stairs.

Head to the Central Square first to speak with Gaspard and Silabus, Ovan, Aina
Shino, and Tabby. Atoli and Alkaid are over a bit, by the Quest Shop.

Piros and Natsume are at the southern end of the Alchemy District. The former
will drop a huge hint that may or may not be related to a .hack// game that
follows this one canonically.

Kuhn is on the bridge just north of Harbor District. On the ship within Harbor
District you can find Antares, Taihaku, and Sirius. I'll let you guess whether
or not Antares is drinking. Sakubo is on the dock south of the old Bike Shop.
Endrance stands at the western edge of the district.

You can find Bordeaux, Negimaru, and Grein at the end of the back alley of the
Mercenary District. Matsu is hanging out with Hiigari and Sophora of Moon Tree,
over by the @HOME entrance.

When you're done talking to people, head back inside the Dome for a scene. Ovan
wishes to go somewhere specifc, and we're invited. However, there's another
stop so we can find a few more people, if you're interested.

Tartarga--

Pi and Yata are hanging out in the main area, between the @HOME and Shop Acorn
locations. Kaede and Zelkova are by the corner before the corridor leading to
the Bridge.

Sadly I have not seen the Azure Knghts anywhere. Ah well. At least the three of
them are still available, along with everyone else, for party invites.

You can now save your game and invite Ovan. You do not have to take him alone,
meanng you can invite a third member, but the addtional strength or heals will
not be necessary either. So you do you on this final mission we're asked to do.

(E) Forever Crime's Libra--

The 1st Block s mostly linear until you've gone north a couple rooms and the
path splits. The way forward is to your left, or west.

During the 2nd Block, after Ovan and Haseo exchange some words, continue onward
through the rooms. Go north when the path splits.

After another exchange, traverse the 3rd Block, headng south from the fork when
you reach it. You will find a boss monster in the southeast room, before you
can reach the Beast Temple. It's a Tinder Baron, of all things, which ought to
be a cakewalk for you. Kick its butt, and open the chest at the Beast Statue.

Ths will trigger a scene. Leave the dungeon through the Platform when you are
done here, and more scenes will follow. Ovan will ask you what you think of
him, so answer that however you like. Credits follow, and uhh... Enjoy the last
possible ending for the series.

Now save your game, because of something else that just unlocked from Parody
Mode. If you played all of the games then the videos will all be available.
Watch them all for a trophy. No, you don't have to watch the entirety of every
video if you don't want to, but some are great to watch for a laugh.

There you have it. The G.U. series is done . . . until someone makes a five to
ten minute long sequel where you just walk in a straight line.

  |=======================================================================|
  | Perfect Score            | Rank at a S in any area                    |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This asks you to score a S, specifically, which is an easy feat. Kick |
  | all breakable items, open the chests, surprise and slay the monsters, |
  | and grab 30+ chim spheres, all from the same Field or Dungeon.        |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Clear All Areas          | Achieve an A or S rank 50+ times           |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | There is a little more leeway here in missing a breakable object, one |
  | chest, or one monster group. Reach suh a high rank so many times over |
  | the course of the first one or two volumes. That's easy, honestly.    |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Trading Up               | Trade any old item from a party member for |
  |                          | another item                               |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | You can actually trade for the same item to trigger this. A Healing   |
  | Tonic for another Tonic? Go for it.                                   |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Mercantile Spirit        | Conduct Trade over 50 times.               |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This may or may not count trades with other player characters who     |
  | have not joined your party. Trade with everyone you can to be sure.   |
  | Over the course of the first three volumes this will go fast as long  |
  | as you stay on it.                                                    |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Just a Little Something  | Gift any item to a party member            |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Just give someone an item. Any item; any party member.                |
  |=======================================================================|
  | A Show of Gratitude      | Provide gifts to party members 30+ times;  |
  |                          | weapons, armor, stat boost items           |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Repeating the above 30 times or more? You should pop this during the  |
  | first or second volume.                                               |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Rookie Rider             | Ride your bike                             |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | The main story forces this to happen.                                 |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Saddle Sore              | Ride your bike for 30+ minutes             |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Between riding around in towns and Fields, and doing Bike Missions,   |
  | you will have this during Rebirth or Reminisce, easy.                 |
  |=======================================================================|
  | My First Alchemy Set     | Use Canard's Achemize feature once         |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This one's more or less as it says on the tin, starting in Rebirth.   |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Alchemical Brother       | Use the Alchemize feature 100+ times.      |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Armor and accessories begin counting in Reminisce. The whole trilogy, |
  | adding to an already-alchemized item counts as well, so putting a +1  |
  | and a +3 together counts as one usage. There's almost no excuse not   |
  | to have this by the end of volume 2.                                  |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Mecha Grunty's Savior    | Rescue Mecha Grunty 5+ times               |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Earned working on the Messiah trophy below.                           |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Animal Kickers' Activist | Kick or hit 5+ Lucky Animals.              |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | You'll get this on the way to "Animal Hunter"                         |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Chim's Kicker            | Kick 30+ Chim Chims                        |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This should not be a problem, considering the number of doors needed  |
  | to open, or warp points to activate, in the main story alone.         |</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
  |=======================================================================|
  | The Great Communicator   | Speak with 10+ Player Characters           |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | When wandering around towns, speak with people, and at least use the  |
  | Talk command once to be on the safe side, for ten or more players.    |
  | Considering the Bikman campaign, this is easy.                        |
  |=======================================================================|
  | PKK 4 Life               | Beat at least five Player Characters in    |
  |                          | the battle areas you see in The World      |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This is likely going to happen as you work on a related campaign.     |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Lone Racer               | Finish 1st Place on any bike mission       |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | See my guides for Reminisce and Redemption for more info. There is    |
  | even a glitch that was never fixed between game versions, to help you |
  | win every bike mission, should you need it.                           |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Mecha Grunty's Messiah   | Complete the "Stray Mecha Grunty" campaign |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Pick either of the first three volumes, and do the respective version |
  | of ths campaign to its completion. If you miss Rebirth then do one in |
  | Reminisce or Redemption. If you miss Redemption then you're out of    |
  | luck until you do another file of the trilogy.                        |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Animal Hunter            | Complete "Lucky Data"                      |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Pick either of the first three volumes, and do the respective version |
  | of ths campaign to its completion. If you miss Rebirth then do one in |
  | Reminisce or Redemption. If you miss Redemption then you're out of    |
  | luck until you do another file of the trilogy.                        |
  |=======================================================================|
  | El-Chiminator            | Complete the "Chim's Kicker" campaign      |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Pick either of the first three volumes, and do the respective version |
  | of ths campaign to its completion. If you miss Rebirth then do one in |
  | Reminisce or Redemption. If you miss Redemption then you're out of    |
  | luck until you do another file of the trilogy.                        |
  |=======================================================================|
  | The World Famous         | Complete a "Bikman Model" campaign         |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Pick either of the first three volumes, and do the respective version |
  | of ths campaign to its completion. If you miss Rebirth then do one in |
  | Reminisce or Redemption. If you miss Redemption then you're out of    |
  | luck until you do another file of the trilogy. Reminisce is arguably  |
  | the easiest version between the radar item and the manageable number  |
  | of player characters, but Rebirth is doable still.                    |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Terror of Death          | Complete the "Chase the Bounty" campaign   |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Pick either of the first three volumes, and do the respective version |
  | of ths campaign to its completion. If you miss Rebirth then do one in |
  | Reminisce or Redemption. If you miss Redemption then you're out of    |
  | luck until you do another file of the trilogy.                        |
  |=======================================================================|
  | My Way if the Highway    | Complete the "Highway Master" campaign     |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This is easily completed in either Reminisce or Redemption. Pick one, |
  | or both, and do it. See my guides for info.
  |=======================================================================|
  | Rengeki of the Century   | Perform 100+ Rengeki attacks               |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | As long as you're not using Cheat Mode this should come easily over   |
  | the course of Rebirth.                                                |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Assassin's Touch         | Perform 300+ Rengeki attacks               |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Much like just above you will have this done in Rebirth or Reminisce  |
  | as long as you are not severely overpowered and killing everything in |
  | as few hts as possible.                                               |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Back Attacker            | Perform 100+ Surprise attacks              |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Consider the Fields and Dungeons you will be clearing for a B rank or |
  | higher, because of keyword collecting. This will go fast before you   |
  | are too far into Rebirth.                                             |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Sneaky Striker           | Perform 500+ Surprise attacks              |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Keep at those surprise attacks throughout the trilogy, and you will   |
  | have this before Reminisce is over.                                   |
  |=======================================================================|
  | I Have Seen the Light    | Use the Awakening 50+ times                |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Pace yourself on doing Awakenings, and this will be done during the   |
  | first volume.                                                         |
  |=======================================================================|
  | True Enlghtenment        | Achieve 200+ Awakenings                    |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This will likely happen in Redemption as you start collecting Virus   |
  | Cores for your weapons, and long before you start buying those items  |
  | in Netslum Tartarga.                                                  |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Fighter-In-Training      | Win 100+ battles                           |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This one is a joke.                                                   |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Battle-Hardened          | Win 500+ battles                           |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This isn't even a funny joke. Also, Arena matches count.              |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Ultimate Warrior         | Win 1000+ battles                          |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Before the end of Reminisce, this should pop if you haven't skipped   |
  | too many fights.                                                      |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Courageous Companions    | Enter 50+ Arena matches                    |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Go for Survival, five matches a run, when you are free to register    |
  | for as many Arena fights as you like. Pace yourself with 66+ matches  |
  | per volume, if you can.
  |=======================================================================|
  | Battlefield Besties      | Take part in 200+ Arena matches            |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | See above, adjust as necessary at the end of Redemption.              |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Lightning-Fast Reflexes  | Perform 50+ counterattacks in the Arena    |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Once you get the easy understanding of how counterattacks work in the |
  | Arena matches, aim to do 66+ of these each volume.                    |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Otherworldly Speedster   | Manage 200+ counterattacks in the Arena    |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | See the above note, and keep at it until the end of Redemption.       |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Data Drain               | Unleash 10+ Avatar Awakenings              |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | You will likely be collecting Virus Cores in Redemption. Ten Avatar   |
  | Awakenings is, yet, another joke.                                     |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Red-Faced Intermediate   | Win 100+ times at Crimson VS               |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This will come naturally as the mini-game runs atomatically, and you  |
  | swap in better decks during Reminisce and Redemption.                 |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Rosy-Cheeked Expert      | Win 500+ times at Crimson VS               |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Ths is just like the above. I mean, in Redemption alone you can make  |
  | an outstanding deck to destroy the rankings, another deck to beat the |
  | champion, and a third deck to never lose again.
  |=======================================================================|
  | Sanguine Master          | Open your card gallery after filling it up |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Become a Crimson VS champion in Redemption, make the unbeatable deck  |
  | that I wrote down for you in that guide, collect all of the cards,    |
  | let the winning card packs all do their thing, and then manually go   |
  | into your completed Gallery.                                          |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Popping the Question     | Watch at least one engagement event        |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | I'm unsure if the final scene in Vol.4's endgame counts, but it won't |
  | matter if you sent a Love Letter (aka., Promise) to someone with max  |
  | affecton during the endgame of Redemption. You only need to pick one  |
  | person out of 22 for this.                                            |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Guild With Benefits      | Reach rank 9 in Canard with Books of 1000  |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Raise your guild's Books of 1000 to their 9th rank. Also, make sure   |
  | that you are playing through the full trilogy, carrying the data over |
  | from Rebirth to Reminisce, to Redemption. There are more items and    |
  | monsters available for two of the Books, and the other books mainly   |
  | count your seemingly infinite actions you can take. Stay on top of    |
  | everything, and the Books wll finish before you step foot inside of   |
  | the 100-floor super dungeon in Redemption's endgame. Then just talk   |
  | to Death Grunty insde your @HOME, check your email, and exit out of   |
  | the last rank-up notfcation to make this pop.
  |=======================================================================|
  | Wordsmith                | Accumulate 60+ 1st Words in the trilogy    |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Check all necessary forum posts and emails, play through the story,   |
  | pick up Quests, and rank a B or higher in an area of most levels. You |
  | will finish this sometime during the first two volumes.               |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Lexical Locator          | Amass 60+ 2nd Words in the trilogy         |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Check all necessary forum posts and emails, play through the story,   |
  | pick up Quests, and rank a B or higher in an area of most levels. You |
  | will finish this sometime during the first two volumes.               |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Vocabulary Virtuoso      | Accrue 60+ 3rd Words in the trilogy        |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Check all necessary forum posts and emails, play through the story,   |
  | pick up Quests, and rank a B or higher in an area of most levels. You |
  | will finish this sometime during the first two volumes.               |
  |=======================================================================|
  | Knows No Bounds          | Get Haseo to level 150 in Vol. 3 or 4      |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Without using the totally unnecessary Cheat Mode, level up wth Haseo  |
  | untl he reaches 150 during Redemption or Reconnection.                |
  |=======================================================================|
  | The Truth Is Out         | Unlock all files in Terminal Disc          |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | Play through the main story of the first three volumes. Once you have |
  | saved that Clear Data in Redemption, check Terminal Disc and click on |
  | a file that is greyed out. The system will update and unlock all of   |
  | the files. Actually watchng or listening to those files is optional.  |
  | The trophy only needs them to be unlocked.
  |=======================================================================|
  | The World: A Parody      | View all videos in the Parody Mode         |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | The through the games, and, at least for Reconnection, play until you |
  | finish the last scene from Ovan's last mission and see the credits.   |
  | Save again, reload the game to check Parody Mode, and the videos will |
  | all be present. It is entirely possible to select a video to start it |
  | up, and then back out, stopping the video as early as the title card; |
  | it will still count as viewing. View all of the videos and this one   |
  | is yours.
  |=======================================================================|
  | King of The World        | Earn all of the other trophies             |
  |-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
  | This is the meta achievement/trophy for completing the rest.          |

clearly better than having Cat Whiskers on an accessory since it not only makes
Haseo invisible to monsters it also lets him run faster.

  * Chim Crown - Dropped by the first Chim King and occasionally among them
         after that.  For each crown you find, bring it to Dr. Kubo for some
         money.

VII. Q&A
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Got some questions? Have corrections you'd like me to make? Please email them
to me, and I'll hopefully answer shortly. I'll make whatever corrections are
pointed out the next time I play these games. Any commonly asked question will
be added below as long it isn't already answered by the guide.
Q.  Do I need to play the previous games to get Reconnection?
A.  Nope. It might help to complete the old trilogy for the Clear Data, but the
        fourth volume of this series can be played totally on its own.
Q.  Why did you bother making this guide since it's so short and easy?
A.  If I hadn't then this would have felt so unfinished as I put so much effort
        into the other games of the series, often with far more gusto than was
        truly necessary.
Q.  Do I have to follow every last note of your guide?
A.  You do not. Even if I suggest you make yourself some waffles as you enjoy
        any part of this series, that is me being a goof . . . who absolutely
        loves waffles. <_<
IX. Many Thanks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thank you for reading this guide, everyone. I suspect that goes out to the
developers as well, though I cannot say how. Honestly, I put a lot more time
into these guides than I ever thought I would, and I appreciate that people
take the time to read my work.
