4: Warnings
This script contains massive SPOILERS for the entire story of F.E.A.R. Perseus
Mandate.
The game and script contains scenes of intense violence and strong language.

5: Introduction
Although this script originally focused mainly on the in-game text, many of the
things that make this game so interesting are purely visual and/or auditory
events -- therefore, I've expanded the original game script to include as many
scene/action descriptions and event triggers as possible to give the reader a
much better feel for the story.
This script's dialogue/text is as close to the actual game as I could manage.
It comes verbatim from the subtitles, except when the audio clearly contradicts
the subtitles -- in that case, the audio has precedence.
Some events are time-triggered, rather than proximity-triggered, so the
dialogue's location may vary slightly for different players.
It is often difficult to determine how much of Replicas' and ATC security
guards' dialogue is actually scripted or simply AI-generated chatter. I'm
using my best judgment here. An extensive listing of radio chatter in the game
can be found at the end of the script.
This script was compiled using the ghost mode cheat so the enemies are
typically unaware of the player's presence.
Because so much of the dialogue takes place as phone, radio, or video
transmissions (or recordings), I've made extra effort to clarify the source of
the dialogue as best I can (see the section on Script Conventions).

"(vo)" indicates a voice-over, where the speaker is not physically (or
visually) present and not clearly identified as speaking
"(r)" indicates dialogue via radio (when speaker is NOT physically present)
"(p)" indicates dialogue from phones
"(m)" indicates dialogue on video monitors
"(laptop)" indicates dialogue from laptop computers
"-" indicates mission objectives, game notes, etc.
"=CP=" indicates a game checkpoint
"< >" indicates visual/auditory descriptions of events or actions

Since many of the game events are 'unreal' in various ways, I've used certain
terms in my scene descriptions to denote events to describe the various
entities, hallucinations, etc. that occur in the game.
"cutscene" indicates FMV scenes, usually with black bars at top and bottom
"flash" indicates a sudden switch or change in the PM's surroundings
"vision" indicates non-interactive in-game visual/auditory events experienced
by the player
"mindscape" indicates interactive environments that the player can move around,
shoot in, etc.
"apparition" indicates a 'unnatural' image of a person or creature (and which
typically dissolves in a cloud of black ash)
"shadow creature" refers to the near-invisible monsters with glowing red eyes
"nightmares" refers to the black humanoid spectres that fly in mid-air
"little ALMA" refers to Alma in her little girl, red dress form
"naked ALMA" refers to Alma in her older, naked form

SITUATION: The situation at Armacham is rapidly deteriorating. The Replica
army's psychic commander, Paxton Fettel, remains at large. Worse, Armacham has
turned on governmental forces and is now openly combating F.E.A.R. operatives.
MISSION: A second F.E.A.R. team, your team, is being briefed and preopped for
HALO insertion into the city by Rowdy Betters.
- Your health will regenerate when you are below a certain threshold, which
differs by difficulty level. It regenerates more quickly when you stand still.

CHEN: What the... they're supposed to be on our side! Didn't ATC call us in to
help them in the first place?
RAYNES: What's ATC hiding?
BETTERS: We don't know, yet. Your mission is to secure Armacham's Global Data
and Security Center and retrieve any information related to a project code
named "Perseus."
CHEN: Paxton Fettel and his army of Replicas?
BETTERS: That may just be the tip of the iceberg. Sat images have picked up
enemy activity near the landing zone. So, be careful. Head directly to ATC's
Data Center once you're on the ground.
BETTERS: As always, I'll be in radio contact with you throughout the mission.
Begin your jump prep.
RAYNES: Time to fly.

SITUATION: Second F.E.A.R. team has become scattered across the battlefield.
Captain Raynes and Lieutenant Chen are concountering determined resistance from
both ATC and Replica forces as they fight their way to Armacham's Global Data
and Security Center.
MISSION: Improvise a path to the objective point and rendezvous with your team
at the ATC Data Center.
- Use AIM/ZOOM to aim a weapon for better accuracy. Weapons with scopes will
zoom in when you aim.

Center. Map data shows you are only a few blocks from the rendezvous site.
Expect heavy interference from ATC and Replica forces.
MISSION: Regroup with Raynes and Chen at the ATC Data Center.
- Activate SlowMo to give you the edge in difficult fights.

RAYNES: You did good, Sergeant.

BETTERS(r): No sign of Replicas on the satellite.
RAYNES: We proceed with extreme caution. We still don't know what we're
dealing with.
BETTERS(r): I want an immediate feed of any and all data collected.
RAYNES: Copy.
CHEN: Stay close, Sergeant.
<drop down to lower level and move down hallway to end level>

02a - Interval 02 - Revelation - Rescue and Recon

SITUATION: F.E.A.R. Operatives have entered the ATC Data Center. Den Mother
has lost contact with a Delta Force Team inside the complex. Sent ahead of
your F.E.A.R. team into the building, they have not been heard from since.
MISSION: Find the missing Delta Force team and gather all information relating
to illicit ATC activities and the Perseus Project.
- Press MELEE to bash open nearby doors. Grenades and other explosives can
also open doors from a distance.

RAYNES: Replicas do this?
<CHEN crouches to examine a body>
CHEN: Not their MO.
RAYNES: Are any of the other teams reporting anything at all like this?
BETTERS(r): Negative. Looks like we've got a unique situation on our hands.
CHEN: Yeah, 'we'.
RAYNES: Chen, what do you make of it?
CHEN: Let's see what we've got here. Multiple gunshot wounds, lacerations and
evidence of blunt trauma. Whoever did this was thorough.
RAYNES: There are some nasty mother fuckers we're dealing with.
RAYNES: Proceed with extreme caution. We still don't know what's in this
building.
<crawls under security gate>
RAYNES: Watch your ass.
CHEN: Great. Some numbnuts tripped the gates. The building is in lock down.
RAYNES: Sergeant, find some way to get these doors open and the lights back on.
BETTERS(r): Listen up! We've got live Delta Force in the building. They've
holed up on the third floor in a security office. I want your team up there,
now!
<CHEN pushes aside cabinet blocking a door, kicks the door open, then advances
through the door, while RAYNES remains behind>
CHEN: Yeah, well, we're not going anywhere until we get those gates up.
BETTERS(r): Chen, stow it!
CHEN: I'm just saying.
BETTERS(r): Then get the gates open! We don't know how much time they have
left.
<enter burning atrium from opening cutscene>

to solid surfaces and attack nearby enemies.

BETTERS(r): I've pulled some schematics. You're going to need to make your way
to the computer core in order to access the mainframe.
=CP= <approaching sliding door>

GREGG(p): Uh Scott, Walt Gregg here. Word's coming down from up top to dump
all data pertaining to an... Origin. All tangential files labeled Perseus,
Icarus and Synchronicity are to go as well. Something big must be going down.
VM: End of messages.

BETTERS(r): This isn't the first time Synchronicity has come up tonight. It
must be connected to Perseus and Fettel.
<exit sliding door onto bloodstained office area>

NC: Target is confirmed to be in the area. Keep your eyes peeled.
NC: We think there may be two or three of them.
<fight Nightcrawlers in computer area>
