        About Me [ABOME]
[[=========================================================================]]

My name is Justin Weber and this is the first of my game guides to be
published online. I currently have several finished guides in which I hope to
publish on my own personal site spiderguides.geocities.com; however that is
still a working progress but hopefully that will be coming up soon. So if you
like this guide in the future you'll be able to check out some more of my
work.

I've been an active gamer since I was seven and I have always favored the
action/adventure type games. Some of my personal all-time favorite games
include: the Resident Evil series, Metal Gear Solid series, the two Knights of
the Old Republic games, Halo series, and Fallout 3.

I would like to mention that while my skills as an avid video game player are
well developed, I do occasionally miss things that others may discover. If
this happens to be the case as you play the game or if you find some parts of
the guide to be inaccurate or hard to understand at times, call me out on it
and let me know, and I will do my best to resolve the problem and give you
full credit for the assist.

If you find yourself in a situation where you feel you need to contact me do
so through [email protected] as listed above. I only ask that you stick
to questions, comments, or suggestions on the guide and that you state the
games title in the subject area, so that I don't spam block you. Any hate mail
or irrelevant messages not pertaining to the guide or the game will just add
you to my spam list and thus casting me ignorant to any future emails.

        Guide Details [GDETA]
[[=========================================================================]]

Far Cry 2 is a huge game and there are numerous ways to complete the game.
This guide's main goal is to provide the readers with clear, logical, and in-
depth information on every aspect of this game so that players may complete
the game in totality easily and proficiently.

This guide will go beyond what is necessary to beat the game by including
everything necessary to 100% complete the game. In the walkthrough portion
only what is necessary to beat the game will be discussed, however, when
opportunities arise in the walkthrough I will forward readers to the
appropriate section within the guide for those interested in going above and
beyond what is necessary to beat the game.

Without any further ado, I give you the complete Far Cry 2 Walkthrough and
Guide.

Tactics

There are basically two main ways of completing this game, either by run and
gun or sneak in stealth either way you are going to need these tactics to get
through the game.

First, the game's NPCs have a way of surrounding you if you run in blind, so
before you enter any crowded area be sure to scout out key locations before
charging in order to avoid being sniped or blown to bits from explosive piles.

Second, never wait till it is too late to heal. Waiting until you have only
one bar left in a fight is a sure way to die. With this be sure to safe often
you do not want to repeat a two hour session because some sniper took your
head off.

Third, take advantage of your buddies optional missions they will raise your
reputation as well as bring many goodies to your hideout. This includes your
arms dealer missions, these will unlock more weapons.

Fourth, need a bigger gun but can't afford it then visit the diamond location
section and start hunting cases.

Fifth, replace weapons when they are no longer fit for use. If your weapon is
consistently jamming or if it jams at all find a replacement and remember your
guns are of better quality then the enemies.

Sixth, visit the gun shop for increased accuracy and buy new weapons.

Finally, you don't have to drive across the entire 50 sq km map take a bus for
quick transportation.

[[=========================================================================]]
        Walkthrough [WALKH]
[[=========================================================================]]

You start off taking a ride in a jeep and the guy driving basically says your
not leaving anytime soon. You start to feel dizzy towards the end of the drive
and you pass out.

<<Objective: Find the Jackal and kill him>>

You awaken in a bedroom which also contains the Jackal. He is going over your
orders to kill him but luckily he rationalizes that you have failed your
mission, you are fired, and are no longer a threat to him.

An explosion goes off after the cut scene and you finally get to take control
of your character.

[[=========================================================================]]
        Tutorial Mission [WALK1]
[[=========================================================================]]

<<Objective: Get out of the town>>

Begin by heading out of the door ahead and up the broken table by crouching
through the broken wall.

You have four options at this point of the game.

1.  Go Northwest and start with the UFLL. (Carbonell - Lumber Camp Mission)
2.  Go Northeast and start with the UFLL. (Kankaras - Cock Arena Mission)
3.  Go Southeast and start with the APR. (Purefoy - Fishing Camp Mission)
4.  Go Southwest and start with the APR. (Quiepo - Slaughterhouse Mission)

Which ever way you choose start heading that direction. To go north use
windows on the second floor, to go south go downstairs and out the exit. Do
not worry about fighting the factions because you are too weak and you are
about to pass out anyway.

<<Objective: Heal myself>>

You find yourself being saved by Kankaras, Carbonell, Quiepo, or Purefoy
depending on the zone you passed out in; I will refer to these four guys as
your lieutenant for the rest of the guide.

Once you take control of your character heal yourself by pressing the left
bumper.

<<Objective: Pick up guns and take syrettes from the kit on the wall>>

Before you can load up with the weapons and health though, you must save using
the blue box to the left of the exit. After saving, the guy will leave and you
are free to collect the goodies.

You will find a hand gun, a rocket launcher, and an assault rifle on the table
straight ahead. Then proceed to the left and take the syrettes from the
medical kit. Then use them on yourself to heal.

<<Objective: Pop the hood and fix the car>>

Leave the building and use your GPS to navigate your way to the car using the
red circle. Once you make it there move around to the front of the car so that
you are facing the hood. Then interact with the hood to fix it. (Oh, and by
the way that socket wrench you use fixes everything and I do mean EVERYTHING!
I got to get me one of those!)

After fixing the car the game will familiarize you with the map, sprinting,
and answering the phone.

<<Objective: Kill the scouts at the safe house to unlock it>>

*************************************NOTE************************************
Do NOT travel anywhere else except straight to the location if you do then you
will pass out! I will let you know when it is safe to travel!
*************************************NOTE************************************

Jump in the car and start driving to the safe house as marked on the map. Once
there jump out of the car and begin shooting there should only be about 2 guys
there. Once you have killed them the safehouse is unlocked. You will get a
call from your lieutenant telling you to get some more sleep before
continuing.

<<Objective: Use the bed-roll in the safe house>>

You may wish to trade your assault rifle for one of the faction soldiers
shotguns but be reminded that their weapons will jam easier than yours will.

Inside you will find a Molotov and a grenade to the right. Collect both. Then
notice the 3 gun cases, those are for storing weapons that will reappear in
any other safe house you unlock. For the moment you will not need to use them
though unless you wish to store an enemy's shotgun in one.

Turn around to the bed-roll and get some sleep after you select what time you
would like to get up. Once you wake up, head outside of the safe house.

<<Objective: Reach the observation point and scout the camp>>

Once you are out of the safe house, your lieutenant will call and tell you to
check out one of four possible locations depending on where you passed out.
Regardless head towards the red circle and pull out your map. You need to find
something of importance like a gun turret or health kit to add to your map.
You know when you have found it when the target reticule turns green.

*************************************NOTE************************************
For advanced help in freeing the captive, go to the chapter with you
lieutenant's name. You can use quick find on Carbonell [CARLC], Kankaras
[KANCA], Purefoy [PURFC], or Quiepo [QUISL].
*************************************NOTE************************************

[[=========================================================================]]
        Carbonell - Lumber Camp [CARLC]
[[=========================================================================]]

<<Objective: Free the captive from the bricked up building at the lumber
camp>>

Your lieutenant will call you and tell you to free the prisoner at the APR
camp. Head down the slope and over to the log pavilion to the left. You will
find ammo there if you need it. From there make your way up the left grassy
side crouching. You will find a health kit in that little shack to the right.

At this point you can go in guns blazing or you could sneak a little further
before pouncing, the choice is yours. There should be about 4 guards in this
area. You will find water to help with the health under the shed. Enter the
small house, there is a health kit and a save box on the wall. Open the door
on the right to save the prisoner.

<<Objective: Return to the fishing camp and meet Carbonell>>

Your prisoner will tell you that you have malaria, and in case you didn't
know, you need medicine. But first you must return to Carbonell to get your
award.

Exit the building and Carbonell will tell you to return to the fishing camp
(where you started). Hop in your car if it still works and follow your map
back using the red circle as a guide.

<<Objective: Locate the diamonds using the flashing light on my GPS>>

Inside you can save or get more health. Carbonell will tell you to find the
diamond case outside for your reward then go to Mike's bar for your medicine.

Head outside when you are ready. Once you are out open your map and notice the
green flashing light this indicates that a diamond case is nearby. When the
green light is steady you are facing the correct direction of the diamond
case. I will do my best to guide you through all of them in the process of the
game but you can find them whenever you want if you go to the diamond section
at the end of this guide. Remember do not explore until AFTER you receive your
medicine.

Go straight ahead and you will find the diamonds in the small garage.

From here we will reunite with the other alternative missions from the other
lieutenants. Use fast find for travel to United - Mike's Bar with [UNIMB].

[[=========================================================================]]
        Kankaras - Cock Arena [KANCA]
[[=========================================================================]]

<<Objective: Free the captive from the bricked up building at the cock-
fighting arena>>

Kankaras will call telling you that there is a foreign national in a bricked
up building in the APR camp. He wants you to take him out. The best way to
approach this is to sneak up the left side and establish yourself a position
in a cabin and lead the men to you.

Using this tactic it is easy to avoid being surrounded and it also easy to
kill many of them at the same time with a well placed grenade.

After you have killed them all proceed to the objective building. Inside you
will find a health kit and save box use them as you see fit. Then rescue the
hostage in the back room. Leave the arena and Kankaras will call telling you
to come to the slaughterhouse.

<<Objective: Return to the slaughterhouse and meet Kankaras>

Use the map to find your way back. Once there proceed inside and speak to
Kankaras. He will tell you that some idiot dropped a case of diamonds outside
and is now dead and if you want payment you must now go find it.

<<Objective: Locate the diamonds using the flashing light on my GPS>>

Head outside of the door and turn to your right, you should see a wide opening
that leads to the train tracks. Hop onto the train and turn to your left to
find the case.

From here we will reunite with the other alternative missions from the other
lieutenants. Use fast find for travel to United - Mike's Bar with [UNIMB].

[[=========================================================================]]
        Purefoy - Fishing Camp [PURFC]
[[=========================================================================]]

<<Objective: Free the captive from the bricked up building at the fishing
camp>>

Purefoy will call and tell you that there is a foreign national being held
captive in a bricked up building and it is your job to free him. Look out
ahead of you and you should spot an ammunition pile. Hopefully you have that
picked up that rocket launcher at the beginning. If you shoot the grass ahead
of the ammunition pile the men will rush over to that area, then when the
timing is right launch a well placed rocket on to the pile to not only blow up
those men but send bullets flying into the others that survived the blast.

If this is done correctly all the men should be dead, however, if there are
some left dispose of them now before heading inside. When everything is clear
go to the objective building. Inside you will find a health kit and a save box
use them if you need to. Then free the captive who will become your buddy.
After freeing your buddy leave the building.

<<Objective: Return to the lumber camp and meet Purefoy>>

Hop into a vehicle and use your map to return to the lumber camp. Once there
go and speak to Purefoy. He will tell you that some idiot dropped a case of
diamonds outside and it now dead. That case is your payment and now you must
find it.

<<Objective: Locate the diamonds using the flashing light on my GPS>>

Go out of the door after saving and collecting syrettes if needed. Then
proceed straight across to the build ahead of the one you just left. Inside
you will find your diamond case.

From here we will reunite with the other alternative missions from the other
lieutenants. Use fast find for travel to United - Mike's Bar with [UNIMB].

[[=========================================================================]]
        Quiepo - Slaughterhouse [QUISL]
[[=========================================================================]]

<<Objective: Free the captive from the back room of the slaughterhouse>>

Quiepo calls and tells you to free the foreign national, so get ready. Go down
the slope and head to the machine gun turret crouching. Once there proceed to
the left through the high grass for cover. Once you make it through to the
train, you are at the best position to attack. There is also ammunition in the
building across from the tracks.

There should be about seven guys here, once you have killed them all proceed
to the objective building. Inside you will find a health kit and save box.
Free the captive.

<<Objective: Return to the arena and meet Quiepo>>

Once you are out of the building go back to your car and use the map to return
back to the cock arena. When you get there Quiepo will tell you some idiot
lost a case of diamonds outside and that is your reward after you find it.

<<Objective: Locate the diamonds using the flashing light on my GPS>>

Go outside into the arena then open your map head to the building to the east
of the arena to find your diamonds.

From here we will reunite with the other alternative missions from the other
lieutenants. Use fast find for travel to United - Mike's Bar with [UNIMB].

[[=========================================================================]]
        United - Mike's Bar [UNIMB]
[[=========================================================================]]

This is the point where all lieutenants' missions follow the same path to
receiving the medicine but first we must go to the arm's dealer.

<<Use the Weapons Shop's computer to buy new weapons>>

You may want to take the jeep this time since it has the mounted 50 cal on top
of it. Regardless head on over to the Weapon's Shop using the map.

Once you make it to the Weapons Shop you will find a health kit, save box, and
computer. Head to the computer and buy anything you want.

<<Objective: Go to the armory to pick up your new weapons>>

The armory is the building to the left, just pick up any weapon you bought off
of the wall.

<<Underground Objective: Find someone at Mike's Bar who can provide medicine>>

Head over there and talk to everyone. You will meet two buddies and Reubon.
After talking to everyone leave and jump in your vehicle.

<<Underground Objective: Go to the church and give the tape to Father Maliya>>

As you start to leave notice a cabin across from the Weapons Shop, in the back
of the cabin there are wooden boards blocking the entrance, shoot them down
and go inside to collect the diamond case.

Start your way to Pali and on the way you should notice a broken down car. At
this spot your GPS should be signifying that a case is nearby. The case is to
the left of the car at another broken down car. After collecting the case or
ignoring it continue to Pali.

In Pali, there are two diamond cases each in a restricted area where you will
be shot on sight for trespassing. You can try to sneak in and take them if you
like but if you are caught you must leave the town. Once you are out of the
town, you may return safely. The restricted areas are red on the map.

Get to the church when you are done. Once there talk to the priest in the
back.

<<Underground Objective: Take malaria pills>>

Take the pills as you would any syrette.

<<Objective: Exit the church to find a job>>

Once you are outside you have officially completed the tutorial mission. You
may now explore the rest of the world safely without fear of passing out.

[[=========================================================================]]
        Act 1 [ACT01]
[[=========================================================================]]

<<Objective: Go to any briefing location to get a mission>>

If you had lieutenants Carbonell or Kankaras, you must go to the UFLL
headquarters.

Alternatively, if you had Quiepo or Purefoy, you must go to the APR
headquarters.

Using the map the UFLL HQ is on the east and its symbol is the shape of Africa
enclosed within a circle and the APR HQ is on the west and its symbol is a
star enclosed within a circle.

You may also choose to complete arm's dealer missions as well to unlock more
weapons.

Head over to the appropriate HQ. The guard will take your weapons afterwards
head up stairs to talk to your lieutenant for the new mission.

From here the story will differ again and you will follow the UFLL or the APR
mission path.

[[=========================================================================]]
        UFLL Missions 1 [UFL01]
[[=========================================================================]]

The time has come to complete the faction missions. There are three each to
activate them, speak to your lieutenant and he will set you up. Don't forget
that you may also choose to do convoy missions at the Weapons Shop to unlock
more weapons.

[[=========================================================================]]
        Destroy the Gear [DESTG]
[[=========================================================================]]

The UFLL is concerned about some Foreign Commandos who are trying to kidnap
some of the APR men. They want you to destroy their gear so that they are not
blamed for the kidnapping of the APR men. Take the envelope from your
lieutenant when you are ready to accept the mission.

<<Objective: Destroy the foreign Commander's gear>>

Walk downstairs and your buddy will call.

<<Optional Objective: Or meet your buddy who might have a better deal>>

Your buddy wants you to meet her/him at the safehouse. Along the way you
should be ambushed by a group at a guard post of about 6 men. After passing
through the guard post you should notice your diamond tracker going off the
case is behind the big boulders.

Once you make it to safehouse speak with your buddy. He/She will tell you to
subvert the mission by giving the foreigners informant the wrong coordinates
so that they end up in shantytown and are ambushed by the APR.

If you complete the optional objective you will get a new vehicle at your
safehouse - the choice is yours. I will follow without the buddy's objective
next, if you wish to follow the subverted buddy path that is listed below
inside the stars.

Before driving on to the objective located in the middle of the dessert, bring
a rocket launcher or grenade launcher as a special weapon if you can. Once you
arrive at the objective location you will see that the place is heavily
secure, two turrets, a sniper, and men crawling over the truck.

Run around the camp until you can see the back of the truck which is the
objective gear. On the back of the truck is a propane tank, position yourself
for the a good shot and send a well placed rocket or grenade right onto the
back of the truck to set off a chain reaction of explosions and send bullets
everywhere. Now you can leave quickly before they catch you or head into the
camp, kill the rest of them, and collect the diamond case near the .50 cal.

*****************************************************************************
      The Buddy Way
*****************************************************************************

After talking to your buddy, leave the safehouse. Hop in your car and head
northeast along the way you should pass through 2 guard posts which will
contain men who will try and kill you. You may also be ambushed by travelling
vehicles once or twice as well.

Once you get near the objective you will see that it is well fortified with a
sniper on the balcony two trucks and men all over the bottom floor. My
suggestion is to go in crouched and head through the left side taking cover
along and along until you are at the base of the building at which time you
should kill the sniper and everyone else.

Upstairs you should find the informant give him the bad directions and then
kill him if you want. Go outside and open your map you should notice a diamond
case is nearby. It is on top one of the small storage sheds use the boxes on
the opposite side of the building to make it to the roof.

Once you are finished here go to shankytown. There are a lot of men here and
it is easy to get overwhelmed so head into the left side and keep low so your
not spotted then lead the men in to a cabin with a back wall so they can't
surround you and take them all out. Once your finished go to the objective
near the giant ditch and you will find the gear in the back of a truck with a
propane tank.

Get clear of the truck and shoot the propane tank to destroy the gear. There
is also a diamond case in the back of a broken down truck on the other side of
the camp.

Once the gear is destroyed you will get history with your buddy, a vehicle at
your safe house, and a new objective to safe your buddy.

<<Optional Objective: Help your buddy fight off the APR troops>>

Head to her position and try to kill off all the men while protecting her. It
is not necessary for her to survive to complete the mission but it is
recommended.

After all the men have died the game will say mission complete and you are
free to start a new mission.

        APR Missions 1 [APR01]
[[=========================================================================]]

The time has come to complete the faction missions. There are three each to
activate them, speak to your lieutenant and he will set you up. Don't forget
that you may also choose to do convoy missions at the Weapons Shop to unlock
more weapons.

[[=========================================================================]]
        Chief of Police [CHOPO]
[[=========================================================================]]
<<Objective: Ambush the convoy and kill the Police Chief>>

Head downstairs use the health kit if you need to, you may want to save also.
Once you are outside your buddy will call and offer a deal. Usually these
deals make the mission more complicated but they also build reputation, build
history with your buddy, and add improvements to your safehouse.

<<Objective: Or meet your buddy who might have a better deal for me>>

[[=========================================================================]]

Q1) After purchasing a weapon from the Weapons Shop, where do I pick the
weapons up?

A1) All weapons purchased are sent to the armory which is located in the
building next to the Weapons Shop. These weapons will then be placed on the
walls inside.
