Guide Overview
-------------------
This guide is more for hints and tips, not for
a fully detailed strategy guide. It is also to
explained certain things of the plot. If you have
complaints due to the lack of detail, there are so
many other guides out there that can be viewed. For
pre-storyline, please view the INSTRUCTION MANUAL of
the game, or read the summary of the game on
Wikipedia. Also, in the game, you can wait 30 seconds
on the main screen for a cinematic introduction.
Thank you,
Benjamin

Island 1:
N. Sanity Island
------------------------
Welcome to the first island! It is here where you will
learn how to control Crash and get the hang of the game. So
get ready for a huge journey packed with challenges,
puzzles, and more! It is here where Crash sneaks into
the great Native Fortress and defeats the mighty Papu
Papu, chief of the Natives. This angers the Natives, so
escape is Crash's goal.

       4--5--6--7--8

Level 1:
N. Sanity Beach
------------------------
Gem: White
Secret Crates:
       1. Behind the barrier
       at the tunnel near
       the fork in the road.
Here it is, the very first level of the game.
It is beyond easy and not much of a challenge,
but be aware of some road blocks in getting the gem.
Tips:
1. At the fork in the road, head right to the ! box.
In order to get all the boxes, jump across while skipping
one box at a time, and then go back around to
get the next few.

Level 2:
Jungle Rollers
----------------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: White
Required Gem: Green
Secret Crates
       1. Along the green gem
       pathway.
Once again, you will face another
easy level. If you want the gem,
you will need the green gem from
THE LOST CITY on Island 2. In this
level, be sure to be careful when you
open boxes not to spin away the Tawna
tokens.
Tips:
1. Trust your jump when near the rollers.
That is the only way to have success.

Level 3:
The Great Gate
-----------------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: White
Gem Required: Yellow
Secret Crates
       1. Along yellow gem path
       2. Along the yellow gem path,
there will be a fence which you
will need to bounce over and follow
the path for 1 hidden crate.
In order to get into the Native villages and
lands, you must cross over their gate. If
you are going for the gem, then you need
the yellow gem from THE LAB on Island 3.
Tips
1. Take your time. There are so many
traps on this level that you will need to
study their patterns.
2. When you come across hungry
Natives with orange shields, jump on
them rather than trying to
spin them.

Level 4
Boulders
--------------
Bonus Round: N/A
Gem: White
Gem Required: N/A
Secret Crates
       N/A
In this level, you run from a boulder.
There is not much more to it. Just run.
Tips:
1. If the boulder gets closer, spin
sparingly to get ahead again.
2. At the platform hopping, jump and spin
to go faster.

Level 5:
Upstream
----------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: White
Required Gem: Gold Gem
Secret Crates
       1. Under log by waterfall
       (gold gem required)
       2. Along gold gem path at
       the end of the level.
Tips:
1. When the blue plants snap their
jaws, jump when they have their jaws closed.
It will give you more time.

Level 6:
Papu Papu
(BOSS)
-----------------
Hit Points: 3
Strategy:
You will be in a small
hut, so there will be hardly any
room to move around. Papu Papu
shall swing his staff in great circles
and attempt to kill you. Avoid this by
jumping and running. When he slams
his staff on the ground, jump upon his
head.

Level 7:
Rolling Stones
----------------------
Bonus Round:
       Tawna
       Nitrus Brio
Gem: White
Required Gem: Blue
Secret Crates:
       1. Along Blue Gem
       pathway.
Because of the defeat of the great
Papu Papu, the Natives are now after
Crash, so he has to sneak through the
jungle. This level is full of rolling stones,
and plants. Never spin them. Jump on them.
To get the gem, you need the blue gem from
TOXIC WASTE on Island 3.
1. Nitrus Brio Bonus Round Tokens:
       1. In a striped bounce wumpa crate,
you must get all 9 wumpa then open
the crate, but you must NOT spin it.
       2. At a square of crates with TNT, jump on
the crate in the far left corner to get it before
       detonating the TNT.
       3. At the (?) box in the end of the level.
2. Tips:
       1. Be quick and trust the jump. Even
jump sideways. And never get triple
       Aku Aku mask.

Level 8:
Hog Wild
---------------
Bonus Round: N/A
Gem: White
Gem Required: N/A
Secret Crates:
       N/A
After leaving the jungle, Crash
has been caught yet again. So
in order to get out of the village,
he must ride a pig. The pig can jump
and move from side to side.
Tips:
1. Keep moving to get all crates.
2. At the end, there will be a Native
blocking the way. Go to his RIGHT
rather than left.

Level 9:
Native Fortress
----------------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: White
Required Gem: Red
Secret Crates:
       1. Along gem route.
This is it. If you want the gem, you
need the red gem from SLIPPERY CLIMB
on island 3.
Tips:
1. Double bounce on the metal bounce boxes.
2. On the upper level with the fence, bounce over
it for a nice little short cut.

------------------
Island 2:
Uka Island
------------------
Even more intense
than the N. Sanity Island.
This island is home to the great
Uka tree. Not many people live
in this hostile place. Crash will travel
up the river to a lost city, through a temple,
across a great bridge and then into the jungle
where he can either head to the other city ruins
and to the lethal volcano, or go to the hidden
Native Village.

Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: White

       1. When you come upon
a floating (!) box on the
left side of the river, jump
       on it and head back
to the waterfall across the lilies
       for 2 hidden crates.
Not much happens in this level. Just
head up the stream and hope.
Tips:
1. Same as Level 5 (UPSTREAM)

Level 11:
Ripper Roo
(BOSS)
--------------
Hit Points: 3
Strategy:
In this, you must blow up
Roo with the big TNT. Is it hard? No.
It takes the patience and the study of
the patterns he travels.

Level 12:
The Lost City
--------------
Bonus Round:
       Tawna
       Nitrus Brio
Gem: Green
Gem Required: N/A
Secret Crates
       1. In an alcove at
       the beginning, bounce
high to get the (!) box
       and unlock some crates.
       2. As you are climbing the
wall, hit the (!) box on the
left and at the top in an
       alcove there will be hidden
       crates.
Hard level the first time. But take your time.
You have as much time as you need.
Tips:
       1. Take your time to study
the patterns of the moving walls
       and platforms.
       2. At the beginning, jump
       AROUND the metal crates for
the other life. You can do
       that.
       3. It is easy if you take your
       time.
Nitrus Brio Tokens:
       1. At the beginning on a platform.
       2. On moving walls near the climb.
       3. In the hidden alcove at the top
       of the level.

Level 13:
Temple Ruins
-------------
Bonus Round: N/A
Gem: White
Required Gem: N/A
Secret Crates:
       1. On the floating
       platform, there will
       be a piece of wumpa
       fruit jutting out.
       Take it go across the
       invisible platforms
       to many hidden things.
In this level, there are many traps
and spiders. Just be careful and don't
rush.
Tips:
1. None, just take your time.

Level 14
Road to Nowhere
---------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: White
Required Gem: Red
Secret Crates:
       1. Along the hidden red gem
path in the middle of the level.
       2. Along the hidden red gem path
at the end of the level. Jump to
       reveal the invisible platforms.
In this level, the prime goal is not to
die. If you want the gem, you need the red
gem from SLIPPERY CLIMB on Island 3. In this
level, there are 3 kinds of PLATFORMS. Red,
which shake and fall under the pressure; brown,
which you can just stand on; and orange which
just fall.
Tips:
1. If you are sick of jumping too much, then
you can jump onto the side of the bridge and
onto the ropes. It's tricky, but well worth it.

Level 15
Boulder Dash
-------------
Bonus Round: N/A
Gem: White
Required Gem: Purple
Secret Crates:
       1. Along the purple gem
path at the end of the
       level.
       2. In the purple gem,
       bounce extra high on
       the trampoline boxes
       for some hidden crates.
In this level, you will run from a
boulder. But this time, it is much
harder. Keep on running and never
spin an obstacle. Jump around it.
Tips:
1. Spin to go faster.

Level 16
Whole Hog
(HIDDEN LEVEL)
--------------
Gem: White
Required Gem: N/A
Secret Crates
       N/A
Key to Level: SUNSET VISTA
This level is much like WILD HOG
on Island 1, but much harder. Get
a feel of the level, and try
everything. If you want the gem,
you must not lose a life.
Tips:
1. Hold down X when going across
a jump or you will never make it.
2. Go opposite of where you think the
Natives will block your way.

Level 17
Sunset Vista
-------------
Bonus Round:
       Tawna
       Dr. Neo Cortex
Gem: White
Required Gem: N/A
Key: Whole Hog
Secret Crates:
       1. On the 3rd floor, you
       will come across rotating
       platforms. At the end, jump
into the back alcove and head
left for a hidden crate containing
       a Neo Cortex token.
Many people consider this level to be the
hardest of the game. They have no common
sense. You have got to be quick and slow
all the same, then the level will come much
easier.
Neo Cortex Tokens:
       1. On the 3rd floor, there will be
an alcove right at the beginning.
Use the lizard to hit the (!) box
and then to get the hidden crates.
Among those is a Neo Cortex token.
       2. On the 3rd floor, you will come
upon a crate stair case which leads
       to the 2nd token.
       3.  On the 3rd floor, you
       will come across rotating
       platforms. At the end, jump
into the back alcove and head
left for a hidden crate containing
       a Neo Cortex token.

Tips:
       1. On climbing the walls,
       be quick with your jumps
       or else you might get
       fried by the torches.
       2. When you see the walls
that move outward and back in,
do not rush. Take your time to
       study the patterns, because if
       you don't, you will fail.

Level 18:
Koala Kong
(BOSS)
-----------
Hit Points: 4
Strategy:
This guy will throw rocks
at you, and TNT will fall from
the top of the cave. You can either
spin the rock or dodge them. I recommend
spinning, except when a TNT is around.
Then, the mighty Koala will throw a great
rock at you that will land next to you. Spin
it back at Kong when there are not any mine carts
in the way. After 4 hits, he will be down for
the count.

-------------
Island 3
Cortex Industry
--------------
At last, Crash has arrived at the immense
Cortex Industry. What awaits him is the
journey of stealth in the castle corridors
and factory machinery. Crash starts in the
factory called Cortex Power by sneaking through
a sewer and to the main entrance. From there,
he raids the factory and comes face to face with
the sinister C.E.O., Pinstripelli Potorolli. Spin
attack to Tommy Gun, Crash defeats the Chief Executive
Officer in a daring duel and ends up shutting down all
operations in the factory. After crossing the rotted bridge,
Crash finds himself right at Cortex Castle and laboratory.
To get in, he climbs over the wall on a horrible raining night
and comes into the dark dudgeons of the castle, which lead
him to the ruins of an old Native temple that was there
until Cortex destroyed it. Onward Crash travels, up into
the castle, and straight into the evil Nitrus Brio. In the
combat that follows, the castle is lit on fire and Brio is
defeated. Crash escapes through the main lab and
to the main tower. He rescues Tawna and they go onto
the blimp, Cortex defeated and his castle destroyed.
Or is he? The evil Doctor flies out on his
hover board with a loaded ray gun ready
to kill Crash. In one final battle, Crash sends
Dr. Neo Cortex flying towards the Earth, destroyed
once and for all!

Level 19
Heavy Machinery
----------------
Bonus Round:
       Tawna
       Nitrus Brio
Gem: White
Required Gem: N/A
Secret Crates:
       1. When you come to a pit, you will
see 2 spiked traps down at the bottom,
at the left and the right with an opening
for you to drop down into. Drop down and find
a few hidden crates, including a Nitrus Brio
       token.
This level is the first of the Cortex Industry levels. It
is somewhat challenging, but can be beaten fairly easily if
you use common sense and that spin attack.
Tips:
1. For the camera enemies, when you jump, spin them away. You
can always jump and spin.

Level 20
Cortex Power
-------------
Bonus Round: N/A
Gem: White
Required Gem: Blue
Secret Crates:
       1. Along the blue gem path.
Do not even bother to get the level's gem if you
do not have the blue gem from TOXIC WASTE. This
level is mighty confusing if you want the gem, so
I'll give you a detailed route.
Route:
Go forward, at the first fork, head RIGHT. At the
second fork, head RIGHT. Get the crates and hit the
(!) box. Head BACK to the fork in the road and head
LEFT. You will come upon a pool of Toxic Waste. Head BACKWARDS
to the LEFT and then you will see a corner leading FORWARD to the
LEFT. Go all the way to the next fork that leads backward. Head backward
for the 1-Up crate in front of the electric generators. After that,
go to the end of the level.
Tips:
       1. You want the gem, take the route explained
       above.
       2. Stay behind the barriers when Pinstripe's
       goons shoot at you.

Level 21
Generator Room
---------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: Gold
Required Gem: N/A
Secret Crates
       1. Near the beginning there is a
series of metal crates jutting out
to the right where there is a platform
       with a few crates.
This is the very core of the Cortex Industry, and if
you can get past this place, then you can advance in
the game. Get the gold gem here if you want the white
gem in UPSTREAM in Island 1.
Tips:
1. Right at the beginning, there will be a bouncing TNT
crate. You do not have to jump through it. You can jump
AROUND it.
2. At the very end of the level, you will ride a platform.
Time your jumps so that you do not get fried by the pipes
or fall.

Level 22
Toxic Waste
-------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: Blue
Required Gem: N/A
Secret Crates:
       N/A
So this level is very straight forward, which should make
it easy to get the gem. But that is not true. This level
is HARD the first time you play it. The stage has rolling
toxic waste barrels coming at you. There are 2 kinds of barrels,
REGULAR and BOUNCING. Run UNDER the bouncing barrels.
Tips:
1. Run UNDER the bouncing barrels. UNDER.
2. You can also jump around some of the bouncing barrels, but never
try going over them.

Level 23
Pinstripe
(BOSS)
----------
Hit Points: 6
(it is NOT 8, for all you fools
who think so and do not know
       how to count)
Strategy
Hide behind the chairs, and come out behind from
them when Pinstripe moves to reload.
Hit 1-3: He will move back and forth through
the room. You can actually get 3 hits in one
reload.
Hit 4-5: He will shoot, jump on the table, then jump
off onto the other side, and reload.
Hit 6: Will stay on the table, shoot, and then reload.

Level 24
The High Road
--------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: White
(Note: Many people think this level has
the blue gem. Do not listen to them. They
are wrong. TOXIC WASTE contains the blue
       gem.)
Required Gem: N/A
Secret Crates:
       1. At the beginning of the level,
head backward to reveal platforms, but
       jump across them.
This level is simply the bridge across the water to
Cortex Castle. Beat this level, and you get to the
castle wall itself.
Tips:
1. Use the shadow of Crash to judge where he shall
land.

Level 25
Slippery Climb
---------------
Bonus Round: Nitrus Brio
Gem: Red
Required Gem: N/A
Secret Crates:
       N/A
This is another level many people esteem to be the
hardest level. It is hard, but not too hard. Just
keep on going.
Tips:
1. There are times when you just have to trust your jump.
Do not panic. This is the flaw that causes people to hate
this level.
2. Sometimes studying patterns of traps is essential. Take
your time in doing so, when you can.
3. Do not rush. If you do, then this level will be miserable
and frustrating.

Level 26
Lights Out
-----------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: Purple
Required Gem: Yellow
Key: Fumbling in the Dark
       (Gained in JAWS OF DARKNESS)
Secret Crates:
       1. Along yellow gem path.
So in this level, Aku Aku becomes essential. He is the
light which guides you. Keep on going. Do not stop when
there is not an Aku Aku crate handy.
Tips:
1. Jump on enemies. Do not even try spinning them
or you will get a new light and waste it.

Level 27
Fumbling in the Dark
(HIDDEN LEVEL)
--------------------
Bonus Round: N/A
Gem: White
Required Gem: N/A
Secret Crates:
       1. At the beginning of the level,
head backwards to some hidden crates
on the sides of the walls.
This level is much like Lights Out, where you must
keep moving. Except this level is much harder. Just
keep your chin up and continue on.

Level 28
Jaws of Darkness
-----------------
Bonus Round:
       Tawna
       Neo Cortex
Gem: White
Required Gem: Blue
Secret Crates:
       1. Along the blue gem path,
       there are ALOT of crates.
       2. On a floating platform, there is a
piece of Wumpa Fruit jutting out to the
left. Head that way to reveal invisible
platforms and a hidden area to the 3rd Cortex
       Token and some crates.
This level is just like Temple Ruins. Anything else to include?
There is nothing else to say except "good luck".

Level 29
Castle Machinery
-----------------
Bonus Round: Tawna
Gem: White
Required Gem: Green
(Only if you want a free 27 lives)
Secret Crates:
       1. None
Tips:
1. When you come upon a line of regular crates
with a few 1-Up crates beneath, there is 1 way to
get them all. Go across the regular crates, skipping
one Then head back across them. Then bounce across the
1-Up crates.

Level 30
Nitrus Brio
(BOSS)
-------------
Hit Points: 9
Strategy:
First of all, do not fear his health. It goes down
mighty quick. On the first 6 hits, he will throw slime
balls at you that you must jump on to get rid of. The last
3 he turns into a monster and you must use the platforms to
jump on his head. During the first 6 hits he will also
throw exploding pink potions at you. Go in a COUNTER CLOCKWISE
motion to avoid them. After you beat him, continue on.

Level 31
The Lab
-----------
Bonus Round:
       Tawna
Gem: Yellow
Required Gem: N/A
Hidden Crates:
       N/A
This is it! The last regular level in the game is this level
and it is the very place where Crash was created. Press on and
have fun!
Tips:
1. What can I say besides just using those instincts
and other skills you learned from the other levels?

The Great Hall
--------------
Not really a level but more of a fork in the road.
If you have all 26 gems, head right for the hidden
ending; or you can head forward for the evil Dr.
Neo Cortex. It is your choice.

Level 32
Dr. Neo Cortex
(BOSS)
-------------
Hit Points: 5
Strategy:
At first he will yell at you and then begin
firing. There are 3 kinds of blasts: RED: These go straight
for you. BLUE: These slide across the screen. GREEN:
you spin these back at Cortex.

After you beat the boss, enjoy the credits and the ending.
If you have not collected all the gems, then start now.
