Hey everyone! Bkstunt back for more Castlevania love! This is the first
DLC to Lords of Shadow 2, aptly titled Revelations! You control Alucard in
this title and get a glimpse into what he went through as the events of
Lords of Shadow 2 got started. Ideally you have already played the first
game... I can't imagine you haven't. If not, you are in the wrong place,
friend!

This is technically my 15th Castlevania guide. Yes, I am insane. But that
number is likely going to continue to grow over the years, so why sweat being
sane!? BWAHAHAHA!

Anyways, it is good to be with you again. Let's go through this DLC
together, shall we?

First of all, let me say that my primary motivation for writing guides is,
and always will be, for the gamer. However, as I've learned by writing just
a few guides on new games, it can hit your pocket book! I wish they'd give me
these games so I could crank out great guides, but they don't! Ah, maybe one
day!

Until then, if you've found this guide helpful please consider donating to
help me offset my costs. You can donate to my paypal account below:

Hey, it's WAY better than paying $20 for a guide, right? Even the smallest
amount will be appreciated.

Please be sure to send me an email so I can thank you personally as well! Or
just send me an email to say "Thanks!" Every one of those I read makes my day!

A collection of things to help you out as you play the game!

o Start working on weapon mastery as soon as you can and save all of your
  experience for skill purchases.

o Learn to perfect block early on. It will end up helping you a ton
throughout the game. In particular, the bosses are very vulnerable to
  this.

o Once you obtain and start using relics, you'll have a max number of each
of them. With the exception of health (which you'll know when you need)
and Dodo's Eggs (which kind-of lose their helpfulness if you are using a
guide), you may as well use them. No point running around with your
  inventory maxed out.

o The game lets you turn on all sorts of options in the settings. One of
the better options is to let you skip QTE, Quick Time Events. I'm sure
this will make a lot of people happy!

 Overlook Tower
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
After enjoying the opening scenes, Marie will appear and inform us of what
the Castle is attempting to do. Great. We can't let all our planning go to
waste, so we'll have her take us to the Castle... or outside of it to be more
precise.

Head forward and the game will pan out, telling you to transform into a bat
cloud to continue. DO NOT do so... go forward into the room first to find a
[_LIFE BOX_], which will increase your health. Lovely. Don't forget to break
the furniture in here for possible experience! Always break stuff! Haha!

Head back now and use the bats to get to the ledge and head forward. You will
see some beams in the distance with several rings you can get to. Get on these
and then over to the left ledge. Look straight up. See another ring up high you
can get to? Use the bats to do so and pull yourself up, there is a dead soldier
nearby with the [_ALEC'S FEAR_] diary. Be sure to read it, the end is... wow.
Just really messed up.

Head to the corner you came up at and you can warp down to another pillar to
the lower right. Continue on until you can jump down to the wooden platform.
Here, go right. There's rings above you, but they don't lead anywhere. Continue
to a broken tower and use your bats at the cliff. A room will be to your left,
but go right again following the cliff, past the jump to another room with
another dead soldier in it. He has the [_MORIAN'S DOOR_] diary.

Head back now (the area to the left has nothing for us... a piece of furniture
you can break if you want), all the way back to the wooden platform you jumped
down to. Head left now, but don't go up yet. Continue to the back and drop down
to find another soldier, with the [_INDIGNANT ARNOLD_] diary. Sure are a lot of
soldiers here...

Head back up and climb the tower here, up to the top and right. Drop down and
you'll have your first foes to fight. Brotherhood soldiers. The game reminds you
to use your Glaciem and Igneas blades. You should use Ignus now on the bigger
Heavy Warrior to make him take off his armor, then kill them all however you
like. Glacius heals, of course. You can tell these powers are very similar to
Dracula's form the main game. We don't have many sword skills yet, but focus on
"Rising Stab" and "Aerial Stab" (or "Rising Cut" and "Aerial Cut") to start to
fill their mastery gauges.

After the fight, use the lever nearby to open the way forward. Head inside
now and into the left room. Use the switch to continue (and let the game load,
I suspect). This next room gives you your "Timeless Vision" ability for free,
so use it to repair the archway the show you (AFTER breaking the furniture)
and continue to see a scene.

Well, there's some of our dad's equipment. Good ol' dad! Haha. We are given
another ability here: spectral wolf. They want you to jump the gap here, but DO
NOT DO THAT. Instead, turn around and head back the way we came. You'll see a
cave off to the right with a box. Use your wolf power on the bridge and jump
over to the cave (it's a long jump, but you can make it). This leads to a hidden
[_IGNEAS BOX_]. Head back now and jump the gap.

Continue forward to the door you saw the monsters go through, but head right,
up the rocks. You'll see a pillar you can warp up to with the bats. Do so but
STOP and look behind you. Down below is another box glowing for us, so warp
over to it for the first [_GLACIEM BOX_]. Our magic is evened out again. Head
back to the pillar and go up. At the top you can warp to the top of the monster
head. Here you can search a little and see a dead soldier underneath a bell.
Search him for the [_SIR FRANCIS'S INVITATION_] diary. I wouldn't take him up
on it.

From here, bat warp to the pillar in the distance, but STOP. Take a look at
the bell area you came from. Up above the bell, in particular. I had to zoom
in with the bat power, but you'll see the goblin creatures. This gives you
the trophy below:

(-NOTE-) Looking at the goblin creatures nets you the bronze "Not again..."
trophy. This trophy is a direct reference to Trevor's experiences
with these monsters in "Castlevania: Mirror of Fate".

Look down now and bat warp to the opening. This leads past the door, right
where we want to be... inside the Castle.

 Traps & Doors
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Head forward and use the switch. Here you have to use your wolf form to get
past the spikes. Use it and head around. Once you pass the first set of spikes
(just past the corner), re-appear, then go wolf form again. Continue and
reappear once you pass the next set of spikes coming, then quickly hit the
button. Doing this without getting hit nets you some Saint's Tears, but don't
worry if you do get hit.

(-NOTE-) Restarting from this checkpoint will make you miss the last Glaciem
Box and note, so be wary!

Break the furniture you run across and nab the [_SIR THOMAS'S LAST DANCE_]
diary from the soldier here. Head down into the ballroom now and DESTROY eery
doll and piece of furniture in here. Seriously, they pack a lot of items into
this area and this is our stock-up time.

After that, find the shield and put it into the LEFT hole in the floor. Now,
use your Timeless Vision and repair the rail here to have a giant saw show up
and destroy the door to the left. Head through it and use your bat warp to
get up to the left ledge to find an [_IGNEAS BOX_]. Very nice.

Drop down and put the shield in the other side now. Use the saw again to break
open the door, and you'll find a room with a button. Hmm... BEFORE you press it,
use the bat warp to get above it and then use timeless vision to repair the
rubble up here. This leads to a hidden [_GLACIES BOX_]. Gotta keep that magic
even!

Go hit the button now to see it opens a door. We have to race to this, but not
quite yet. Out in the ballroom are some vampires to kill (I think these are
vampires... man, I haven't played this game in forever!). Three in total, kill
them off however you like but take note of the note below!

(-NOTE-) During this fight, be sure to use Timeless Vision on the saw rail to
have it assist you and kill an enemy with it. If you get the saw-assist
kill (which is easy), you'll gain the "Butcher" bronze trophy. Sweet!

With the enemies dead, go hit the button and DASH LIKE CRAZY past the ballroom
and to the right. Follow this path to the door on the left. If you dash the
whole way it shouldn't be hard to beat the timer.

This new room is another puzzle... sort of. It will test your reflexes. Go hit
the button on the right wall and the camera will pull back. Here, quickly TURN
INTO A WOLF and run for the GREEN SQUARE. This is the only safe square. It will
turn yellow, meaning TURN INTO A WOLF and run to the next green square. Do this
multiple times until the retro "Vampire Killer" song ends. Doing it without
getting hit nets you a reward (I got 500 Experience).

Head forward to see a small scene. Monsters taking away keys. We'll have to
get them back of course, but first thing's first: head past the bars and search
the soldier to the left for the [_ANGRY SIR ROLFE_] diary page.

Now, on to our key hunt! Fill up your souls at the font nearby and head to the
stairs on the right. Go up the left stairs first. Here repair the debris below
with your vision and then use the wolf to jump the gap. Keep the wolf up and go
through the mouth here to the first battle room. We have to defeat the jailer
in here for the key. Use Igneas to break his armor. Watch out for his frequent
unblockable attacks. If you happen to run out of Igneas, you can also somersault
over him (a 200 XP skill you should have by now) and attack his back. There's
minions in here too, but only two at a time. Collect [_DUNGEON KEY 1/3_] once
he falls, the destroy all the furniture and exit through the door they show you.

This door leads to a switch... use it and then let go. This lowers an elevator
for us. Jump down and put the shield INTO the elevator... as weird as that may
sound. Now, head up the other stairs (refill magic). Push the button here and
then bat warp over the gap. Use the wolf to enter the mouth here into the second
battle room. This time it is just a single jailer. Very easy. Take him down to
claim [_DUNGEON KEY 2/3_] and have another door open.

This door leads to another key switch. Use this one too but DO NOT let go.
Instead, switch to wolf form. You'll hold the key (clever!). Drop down using
the nearby gap and head to the elevator, then let go for your ride to the top.
At the top, pick up the shield and carry it forward to a plate on the floor.
Drop it there and then go stand on the other plate. This opens up a mouth in
front of you. Yep, use the wolf to enter battle room number three. Here you
have a jailer and minions again. Pretty much the same as previous fights, so
take them all out. The door opens after that and you gain [_DUNGEON KEY 3/3_].

BEFORE we go use said keys though, we have secrets to find. Leave through the
door and hang a right past the floor plates. In the shaft to your left you can
use bat warp to get higher. Do so and climb to the top. Follow the path and
then jump down while holding right to land on the ledge below you, which puts
you directly in front of a [_GLACIES BOX_]. Nice. Head back to where you dropped
down at and use your bat swarm to warp to a broken beam up above (I'm sure you
can see the next box across the room). This leads to a ring on the far wall.
Drop down and use your wolf to jump to the [_LIFE BOX_].

Now, make your way back to the place where you dropped down at (you can bat
swarm back to the empty shaft and drop down again) and use your wolf to jump
the gap behind you back to where we put the shield down. Head past that area
and you'll see a broken wall with a ramp leading out of the gap. Now, use your
wolf to run the ramp and jump THROUGH the bars and past another ramp to find a
well-hidden [_IGNEAS BOX_]. That one is tricky!

From here head down and make your way to the door locks. Undo them all and
get ready to take on a boss...

BEFORE the boss though you'll have to face his minions. Six in total. Not
hard, but spend some time in this fight destroying all the furniture here for
the goodies that you can find. After you kill them all, you will have to face
their master...

|                                                                          |
|                                                                          |
| - General Information: This is a good first boss fight: not too hard,    |
|   but not too easy. The Keeper is pretty much "Dungeon Jailer Master",   |
|   as many of his moves are just Dungeon Jailer moves that you have seen  |
|   before. He is powered up by the Void Sword though, and it grants him   |
|   additional defenses as well as new attacks.                            |
|                                                                          |
|   We'll go over all of his moves below, so read on and buff up on what   |
|   to expect, but the key to this fight is mobility and your Igneas Blade |
|   attack. Mobility is needed as he has a couple of moves that target the |
|   arena your in, while the Igneas blade is needed to cut through his ice |
|   armor during the fight (which he can re-apply). Destroy the armor and  |
|   punish him, but always keep in mind your surroundings! Read up on the  |
|   moves below and show the jailer who's boss!                            |
|                                                                          |
| - Sword Swipes: This is the Jailer's regular sword swipes with the Void  |
|   Sword. Two wide sword swings. Nothing special. You can parry these     |
|   attacks and make him pay, so try to nail the timing on these.          |
|                                                                          |
| - Sword Slam: This is the un-blockable attack the Jailer has waiting for |
|   you. He'll pull back and slam the sword at you. BE SURE to move out of |
|   the way. Left or right, not backwards, as the sword slam also includes |
|   a shockwave that can hit you. Evade and attack from the sides when he  |
|   uses this move.                                                        |
|                                                                          |
| - Jailer Charge: This is another normal "Jailer Move". The Keeper will   |
|   simply charge at you, like you've seen other jailers do. Dodge away    |
|   and try to get around him when he does this, so you are in a position  |
|   to hurt him right away.                                                |
|                                                                          |
| - Ice Armor: The move that will make you draw out Igneas at some point.  |
|   The Void Sword is trying to protect the Jailer by covering him in ice, |
|   which you'll need to chip off with Igneas. It is basically just armor, |
|   but after a short amount of time the sword will re-armor the Jailer.   |
|   You can't stop it either, so be sure to get in some combat focus when  |
|   the armor drops so you can refill Igneas a bit.                        |
|                                                                          |
| - Shockwave: Another normal "Jailer Move", the Keeper will jump up in    |
|   the air with the sword (when you are nearby) and slam it down into the |
|   ground. Simply jump to avoid the shockwave, and keep on hurting him.   |
|                                                                          |
| - Ice Breath: A special power, courtesy of the Void Sword. The Jailer    |
|   will pause for a split second and then breath ice at you. Dodge out of |
|   the way, of course. Left or right, whichever is easiest. Failing to    |
|   do so may get you frozen solid, which is just a free hit for the boss, |
|   really. Best to avoid it if you can.                                   |
|                                                                          |
| - Fire Grenade: This is another Jailer move, the fire grenade... thing.  |
|   The one that rolls around, spreading out gunpowder everywhere and then |
|   lights it at the end. Gunpowder Grenade? Eh, whatever. This can make   |
|   the arena dangerous though, so watch your feet when he does this!      |
|                                                                          |
|                                                                          |
+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+

After he is dead, enjoy the scenes as you get transported to the next new
area of the Castle.

(-NOTE-) Defeating the Keeper will net you the "Freezing Void" Bronze
        trophy. Congrats.

We are in Bernhard's Wing, but there isn't much here for us after we put
the sword where dad can reach it. You can destroy the statues here for some
experience and artwork, but after that use your timeless vision on the giant
navigator behind the sword and then use it. This takes us to our true
destination:

 Forbidden Wing
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Use the magic font here and destroy the furniture.

(-NOTE-) This area is truly cool. For starters, there is latin scribbled in
blood in various places and voices echoing throughout the wing.
Remnants of Dracula's mastery over the castle? A tormented soul
        lashing out...

For translations of the messages, check out the credits section
        below.

After you destroy the furniture, head forward but look to your upper right.
See the railing busted up up there? There is a bat warp point behind it. Use
it and drop down to the [_LIFE BOX_]. Well-hidden, if you ask me. Drop down
and continue on.

Past the archway you'll see a quick scene. Head forward using bat swarm and
then to the left use your timeless vision to repair the ledge, then bat swarm
over to it. From here jump carefully from bookcase to bookcase. Landing in the
blood hurts, of course. In the room beyond we'll have to fight two waves of
Bloodly Lancers, which adds to our lore actually. Watch out for their two
unblockable spear attacks and you'll be ok. They are powered by the corrupted
blood and will revive two more if you don't kill the blood, but we could use
the experience and mastery chance, so let them revive all the skeletons.

Once they are dead, use the wheel here to open the door. Break the furniture
to the right and go left up the stairs but STOP and TURN AROUND at the top.
You'll see a bat swarm point here you can get to. Follow it up to find a hidden
[_LIFE BOX_] at the top. Our life is looking very good now, huh? Indeed, there
is only one more in the DLC!

Drop down and head up the stairs. Use the switch here to see a grate open.
Head to the bookcase hallway now (use the wolf through the bars for a shortcut)
and use bat swarm to warp up there. At the top, use the wolf to jump the gap
(it is a bit tricky... or maybe I just suck at jumping). You will have that
[_DUNGEON KEY_] after you do. Jump down to the bookcase and go use it. It will
open up access to another room, so use that switch too and continue on to a
scene.

DAMN BLOOD! After the scene we need to climb FAST! We have a harpy on our
tail who hits the wall like the paladin at the beginning of the main game (if
you can remember that far back!). Head to the right and get on the handhold
right below the platform. We need the harpy to hit it on each side to break it.
Once she does, head up and to the right again! We'll get to a second platform
but this one only has one support. Have the harpy break it and climb! The last
platform is coming up and has THREE supports. Quickly have the harpy break them
all and climb up the middle one to safety. This whole ordeal may take a couple
of tries, but you can do it!

At the top, you'll get to kill said harpy. It has a few dishonored vampires
at its side though. Focusing on the harpy is advantageous here, so you don't
have to worry about it swooping down and annoying you. Be sure to take this
time to focus your mastery on your moves that need it! Once you are done, you
can use the lever to continue. You'll find [_CHIEF ADRIAN'S DIARY_] in the
hallway beyond. A disgusting read... ugh. Head forward to see another short
scene.

Great, a lake of blood. Welp, we have to navigate this. Fill up your magic
and then use bat swarm to warp to the upper left. Here drop down and then use
your wolf form to hop from one bookcase to the next, heading to the jar that
they showed you. Once you get there, use it to lower the blood level.

Now, look out at the lake and look down. See the lower left? There's a door
there. Drop down to it and follow the bat swarm as it leads to a broken switch.
We need to repair it and use it. BE QUICK after using it! To the left use bat
swarm to get back to the lake and then use your wolf to get past the bookcases
and jump through the door you opened.

Here WAIT before dropping the blood. Look up to your upper right. See the bat
swarm? Head up there to find a hidden [_GLACIES BOX_]. Only one more of those
as well. Jump down and use the urn to lower the blood (get rid of it, actually),
then jump down to the lower level. Down here you will fight skeletons and some
lancers. A couple waves. Take them out and try to focus on mastery.

(-NOTE-) I was able to get the "Crissaegrim Master" Silver Trophy here from
turning in mastery levels. Hopefully you can to or you are close.

After you kill all the skeletons, look up to the ledge to the left of the
door. This is where we dropped down to after lowering the blood the first time.
Use bat swarm to get up there and then head into the door. Drop down the hole
here (which is blood free now) and follow it to the back room to find a hidden
[_IGNEAS BOX_]. One more of these as well. Nearly done! Head back to the door
down below now and use the wheel to open it up so we can continue.

In this next room, destroy all the skeletons on the ground (I can't believe
they aren't attacking us) and note the destroyed bookcase. Use your timeless
vision on it and have it repaired, then run to the end of the room and use
bat swarm to get up above. Here refill the urn to make blood rise, then use
your wolf power to jump through the bars and then to the left. Good puzzle,
right? They made us use all the powers there. Continue up with the bat swarm,
refill a second jar and the use the wolf to continue on. Head up and use the
wolf on the rafters, then the bat swarm when you need to. To the left, jump
down the pit. At the very bottom you'll find the [_KARL'S WEARINESS_] journal
on the dead soldier.

BEFORE you move on, look up. See the bat swarm? Use it to find and use the
game's last [_LIFE BOX_], giving you max life. Very nice.

Head forward and use the magic font if you wish and then head right into the
hall. Make your way to the end and head left, up the stairs. Lots of candles to
bash here. Head left up the stairs but look to the right for a broken wall that
is hiding an [_IGNEAS BOX_]. Our last one! Head out and look back the way you
came, but look up! See the bat swarm? A [_GLACIES BOX_] is hiding out up there,
which should be our final collectable in the game.

(-NOTE-) As mentioned, that should be the last collectable. This should net
you the "Fine Nose" Silver Trophy. Congrats!

Drop down and head to the end of the hall. A pressure plate is here, but
we need a shield. Use bat swarm here to get onto the chandelier above you
and then use your wolf to jump down to the balcony below. The shield is here,
but broken. We'll be timed for this... repair it with timeless vision and pick
it up. Fall off the balcony and run to the pressure plate. Place the shield
down and quickly bat swarm to the chandelier, then bat swarm to the door and
drop. Dash through it to beat this puzzle.

The next room has a surprise for you... the brotherhood! Particularly, a
Heavy Warrior and a Cleric. The cleric will call in other soldiers of course,
so focus on him first. ALSO, break the furniture in here before killing them
all. Once they are all dead you'll see a scene...

Here we get the choice of back-tracking to previous areas or talking to Marie
to continue the story. This guide is continuing the story. After the scenes,
head through the area you end up at and drop down. Refill your magic and your
health (our first heart! heh) and then head through the crack in the wall. You
will intercept Zobek's eyes soon enough, leading to the last boss fight of the
DLC...

+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+
| Boss Battle -              Zobek's Lieutenant              - Boss Battle |
+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+
|                                                                          |
|                                                                          |
| - General Information: The final battle is a good one, but c'mon... you  |
|   KNEW it was coming. Still, it is very fun and engaging, and I just     |
|   loved the "Nice Armor..." bit. Zobek's Lieutenant is versed in some    |
|   neat magic, such as teleportation and bending reality a bit. He'll use |
|   his teleport to try and smack you as you attack. He also has several   |
|   powerful melee moves as well as TWO life bars.                         |
|                                                                          |
|   Still, his basic attacks aren't too hard as long as you stay on the    |
|   move and do a bit of healing. He has some other tricks though. When    |
|   he reaches 75, 50 and 25% of his health he will often do one of two    |
|   special moves, which I'm going to put below in the move list, at the   |
|   very end. Be sure to check them out as you will take damage if you     |
|   don't know what you are doing!                                         |
|                                                                          |
|   Once you get his health all the way down though, the battle is NOT     |
|   over. You need to stop his regenerating. If you don't, he'll recover   |
|   some health and you'll need to try again. To stop him, do this: Use    |
|   Bat Swarm to get onto one of the levers and then again to get on the   |
|   pedestal he is NOT on. From there, switch to your wolf form and leap   |
|   at him. BAM, the fight is over!                                        |
|                                                                          |
| - Sword Combo: The Lieutenant's standard sword combo. The first two      |
|   swings can actually be parried, which is probably the single best way  |
|   to hurt him (it takes off a GOOD chunk of health). After the first two |
|   swings is an unblockable swing and if you miss that a fourth lunge     |
|   that is also unblockable. He can stop if you block him (without a      |
|   parry) and can even lunge without four full swings.                    |
|                                                                          |
| - Shockwaves: He will pull his sword along the ground and send out some  |
|   shockwaves at you. He has two forms here: a column shockwave, which    |
|   is pretty easy to dodge, or a wave shockwave, which you will have to   |
|   jump over. He likes to use the wave twice in a row, so be ready.       |
|                                                                          |
| - Swordblast: This move is a "get away from me" move. He'll do it when   |
|   you are close enough to hurt. He draws back and unleashes a blast      |
|   around him. Easy enough to dodge away from, if you can do it in time.  |
|                                                                          |
| - Teleport Attack: This one caught me by surprise! He apparently has a   |
|   command over space as he can dodge into a wormhole and come out near   |
|   you with a slash. Much like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat... yeah... You |
|   have enough time to get away if you dodge once you see him leave, and  |
|   you can even dash near him once he comes back to get in some good hits |
|   if you are fast enough!                                                |
|                                                                          |
| - Dark Hole: Another good attack. The Lieutenant will put his sword in   |
|   the ground and make a pink circle appear underneath you. After a few   |
|   seconds it will erupt in space and energy, hurting you. You may be     |
|   tempted to dodge away right away, but that is a mistake. Instead, run  |
|   around for a bit and THEN dash away. It's all about the timing!        |
|                                                                          |
| - Firey Ground: This is one of the two special moves that the Lieutenant |
|   does once you take off a good chunk of health! He plunges his sword    |
|   into the ground, causing the entire arena to heat up. To avoid this,   |
|   use your bat swarm to warp up to the small pedestals surrounding the   |
|   room. They will fall, so you'll need to use all four of them to stay   |
|   safe. Not too hard to do. The fight restarts once he is done.          |
|                                                                          |
| - Dark Clones: This is the second of the two special moves that the      |
|   Lieutenant uses. He will summon five clones and make an energy barrier |
|   appear with them. This thing WILL hit you unless you turn into a wolf  |
|   and move through it, then bring your body through.                     |
|                                                                          |
|                                                                          |
+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+

(-NOTE-) Once you beat the game you will have the "Nice Armor..." bronze

Here is a list of all the items in the game, in the order in which they
are listed on the Items Page. No one can say I'm not thorough!

o HEART OF THE WOLF

Description: When Dracula gave him his blood, after taking his life in a
brutal fight, Trevor began a radical metamorphosis that lasted
three decades. When he awoke, the corrupt inheritance of his
father had taken over every inch of his being, giving him
supernatural powers that cost him his humanity. Since then he
has been fighting against the darkness, regenerating his wounds
with the blood of his enemies and swearing to use his curse to
defend mankind until the end of his days.

o GLACIEM BLADE

Description: Glaciem was the name of a graceful magical rapier that took the
lives of thousands of Brotherhood soldiers before being destroyed
by one of their paladins. There is no record of its first owner,
and even less is known about the master blacksmith who forged
it, only that it was associated with a terrible curse that fell
upon all those who laid a hand on it. Like the icy finger of
death itself, the blade drained the vitality from its enemies
and injected it into the body of its bearer, making him
practically invincible in battle. It was an unmatched power that
led its owners to suffer terrible deaths, painful losses and drove
its few survivors mad under the influence. Today, its essence is
hidden in the metal that makes up the Crissaegrim, and its sharp
blade remains in waiting to be called upon once more by its new
             master.

Use L1 to invoke or uninvoke the Glaciem Blade.

o Igneas Blade

Description: In times before the arrival of the Lords of Shadow, an
unscrupulous general managed to make a deal with the demon king
Igneas. In it, he offered to fulfill an unknown wish for the
creature in exchange for the key to the entire castle he meant
to conquer. The key was none other than an enormous broadsword
with an eternal flame capable of consuming any material it hit
against. With it, its owner was able to conquer a hundred
territories and terrorize the rest of the free countries, until
the demon returned to collect on his debt. The infernal creature
broke the seal that held the agreement closed and inside, he read:
"That which is gained by fire, must be destroyed by fire." The
general, enraged, brandished the magical sword, devastating
everything in his way until all of his cities were reduced to
ashes and his weapon shattered into pieces. The fragments that
could be recovered were mixed with the steel of Crissaegrim and
still today light up its blade with the intensity of hell.

Use L1 to invoke or uninvoke the Igneas Blade.

o CRISSAEGRIM

Description: Using the tip of the Vampire Killer, left by his father in
Carmilla's heart, and the remains of the other two swords,
Alucard forged Crissaegrim. An extremely lethal weapon, molded
in the likeness of its owner, retaining all of the power of the
originals in its alloy. From the Vampire Killer, it retains the
ability to punish its peers, paralyzing them in a state of
infinite agony. From Glaciem and Igneas, the elemental swords
from the underworld, it inherits the icy ability to absorb life
and the burning intensity of flames capable of melting any armor.
When the cold hands of its bearer so require, the broadsword
unleashes all of the energy of these weapons, enabling it to
give new meaning to the act of severing limbs.

o BAT CLOUD

Description: The curse of the blood means an entire compendium of mysteries
for those who have lived long enough to study it. From what
little is known, it has been determined that with time it tends
to mutate to adapt to the needs of its carrier, offering new and
twisted abilities with which to ensure survival.

In the case of Alucard, who lacks the wings common in other
members of his species, the blood has improved his power to
dominate vermin to the point of being able to take their shape
temporarily. With this skill, the son of Dracula can divide
himself into hundreds of bats to reach distant places in less
than a heartbeat of his victims.

Select the Bat Cloud with the left button. Press and hold R2
and release to launch it. You can move and aim during preparation.

Remember that you can press O to cancel the action during
             preparation.

o TIMELESS VISION

Description: Centuries after finishing off Dracula, Alucard continued to
recreate in his mind each one of the rooms in the castle he
then visited. Trying to remember every wall, every door and
every statue, suspecting that one day it would be very useful
to him. He wasn't mistaken, as with the return of his father,
the castle, too, rose up again from the rubble. Now he is the
only one who, like his father, has the necessary link to return
the splendor to every corner of the fortress, projecting his
memories and making the image he retains of them tangible.

Select the Timeless Vision with the up button. Press and hold R2
and release to launch it. You can move and aim during preparation.

Remember that you can press O to cancel the action during
             preparation.

o SPECTRAL WOLF

Description: It is said that as soon as a vampire is "born", ever detail
involved in that instant places a permanent mark on the nature</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
of the new creature. Trevor was converted by his father one
night under a full moon, and he was strongly affected by its
wild influence. Since then, every night that the moon is full,
Alucard awakens the ability to project his spirit in the form of
a white wolf and travel through the world without physical
limitations. Many travellers have told stories of how, in times
of need, an enormous white wolf came to them to guide them
             along safe paths.

Select the Spectral Wolf with the right button. Press and hold
R2 to expel it, then guide it with the left stick and release R2
             to regain the bodily form.

o DUNGEON KEY

Description: In the deepest reaches of the castle, it is survival of the
fittest. Killing for wealth is a constant in the lives of the
dungeon clans, and turf wars are increasingly common. Only the
guards have the means to forge crude metal keys, used to block
access to their territory and keep their belonging out of
             covetous hands.

 RELICS
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Items from the most exotic corners of the world were stolen from Dracula's
castle after its owner disappeared. Over time, with the arrival of the
modern era, the potions, seals, talismans and other relics came to decorate
the windows of antique shops or ended up in the city's rubbish. Converted
into mundane objects, camouflaged under the innocent gaze of the humans who
never knew their true power.

Press and hold the down button to open the Relics Menu and select it with
the right stick.

o TEARS OF A SAINT

Description: An ancient belief attributes healing capabilities to the tears
of saints. For centuries, alchemists at the service of evil have
unsuccessfully tried to unlock their secrets.

To conduct their research, they kidnapped men and women of God,
studying ever vital fluid they were able to extract from their
             eye sockets.

With the Tears of a Saint selected, press and hold R2 to use
             them.

o SEAL OF ALASTOR

Description: A blood oath kept the ghost of Alastor from leaving the material
world. His spirit was anchored to the weapons that made him
famous in life, forcing him to brandish them for all eternity.
It is said that he who carries the seal with his name will enable
the master to guide his fist and teach perfection in the art of
             dealing death.

With the Seal of Alastor selected, press and hold R2 to use it.

o ENSNARED DEMON

Description: When in the 15th century, a group of strange scholars presented
the prototype for the first steam engine, it seemed impossible
to explain how they could have invented such a sophisticated
machine with the existing tools and knowledge. It would have been
impossible, except that its framework did not hide human
technology but rather a complex mechanism fed by the magical
energy of a demon trapped in its core.

With the Ensnared Demon selected, press and hold R2 to use it.

o STOLAS' CLOCK

Description: Among the relics coveted most by the intelligent creatures of
the abyss are the clocks of Stolas, the demon prince. As a
guardian of wisdom and master in the art of suffering, he used
his time to enclose the ashes of thousands of tortured bodies
in fragile glass containers. When released, the ashes envelop
the punished enemies, slowing the passage of time and taking
away a greater amount of combat experience when stimulated with
             pain.

With the Stolas' Clock selected, press and hold R2 to use it.

o DODO EGG

Description: The meat of the trusting Dodo became a coveted treat for
hundreds of years. However, the Chupacabras found in them an
even more valuable use, and began to breed them secretly before
they became entirely extinct. Their eggs held a privileged place
on the shelf of his shop under the slogan: "Buy it now and
             discover a secret!".

With the Dodo Egg selected, press and hold R2 to use it.

 BASIC ACTIONS
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

    DIRECT ATTACK
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Square
|
| o Direct attack that hits enemies in front of you. You can use
|   this attack both on the ground and in the air.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your basic attack move. Hit enemies directly. Grah!
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    AREA ATTACK
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Triangle
|
| o Area attack that hits nearby enemies around you. You can use this
|   attack both on the ground and in the air.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your basic area attack. Hit more enemies. Good when you
|           find yourself surrounded and provides a form of crowd
|           control.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    JUMP
.-´¯¯¯¯¯
| o X
|
| o A basic jump. Combine this move with other attacks to perform
|   aerial combos.
|
| THOUGHTS: You uh... you know how to jump I hope. I'm sure you do!
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    SPRINT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Left Analog Stick (twice)
|
| o Momentarily increases movement speed. Perfect for covering short
|   distances quickly, especially useful for closing the gap between
|   you and your enemy.
|
|   Double tap to spring.
|
| THOUGHTS: Pretty cool that they give us the sprint move right from the
|           start of the game. Very useful.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    BLOCK
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o L2
|
| o Press and hold L2 to block enemy attacks. Unblockable attacks are
|   indicated with a red warning flash. This skill can be used both
|   on the ground and in the air.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your basic block attack. Protect yourself from harm! Very
|           useful.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    SYNCHRONIZED BLOCK
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o L2 (Just in time)
|
| o Press L2 at exactly the right time to synchronize your block. When
|   performed correctly the enemy will be stunned for a few moments.
|   Unblockable attacks, indicated with a red warning flash, can't be
|   synch blocked. This skill can be used both on the ground and in the
|   air.
|
| THOUGHTS: An excellent skill that rewards players with good timing.
|           Stunning the enemy gives you a few free seconds where you
|           can really pour on the damage.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    DODGE
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Hold L2 + Left Analog Stick
|
| o While blocking with L2 use the left stick to evade enemy attacks.
|   This skill can be used both on the ground and in the air.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your basic evasion move. Mastering the use of this skill
|           will save you on more than one occasion.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    STOMP
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o In the air: Hold L2 + X
|
| o Similar to dodge but performed while airborne. A good defense
|   against enemies who attack you in the air. Landing back on the
|   ground can also knock back smaller enemies surrounding you.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your air evasion move. Let's you drop straight down with
|           a satisfying thud. Can hurt smaller enemies if you stomp
|           down into a group.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    GRAB & INTERACT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Circle
|
| o Press Circle to grab enemies or interact with glowing objects.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your basic grab move. Use it to open doors, interact with
|           objects and suck the life blood out of your enemies. You
|           monster, you.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    COMBAT FOCUS
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Inherited from his training under the Brotherhood of Light, Dracula
|   retains his knowledge of Combat Focus. When he is concentrating
|   fully, the Prince of Darkness can extract blood orbs from his
|   enemies with each successful hit. The focus meter fills when you fight
|   well: Try different attacks, use Synchronized Blocks and avoid getting
|   hit. Not fighting reduces the Combat Focus and activating any of your
|   powers stops it completely.
|
| THOUGHTS: Those who played Lords of Shadow will be familiar with how
|           combat focus works. You use this to refill your magic when
|           there is no magic font around.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    EXPERIENCE POINTS
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o You are primarily awarded Experience Points when you defeat enemies,
|   although you can also obtain them by exploring the world. Experience
|   Points ae used to acquire combat skills, relics and other valuable
|   items that you will find on your adventure. The number under Dracula's
|   health bar indicates the number of Experience Points available to be
|   be spent. The number will shine when you have enough to buy a new
|   combat skill in the Travel Book.
|
| THOUGHTS: For some reason, an explanation on experience points can be
|           found in the skills section. Oh well, the more you know,
|           right?
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    WEAPON MASTERY
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o To be a master in the use of a weapon, you must master each one of
|   its skills. Each skill has its own mastery container, which is filled
|   by using the skill. Once the container is full, you can transfer the
|   achieved to the corresponding weapon. Master as many skills as you
|   can to level up your weapons.
|
| THOUGHTS: Another explanation of how the game works, this time for
|           the weapon mastery system. Get out there and keep using
|           your skills to eventually master your weapons!
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    TRANSMUTATION RUNE
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o The science of transmutation was believed to have been lost to
|   Mankind since the last of the great alchemists died during The
|   Necromancer Wars... When, centuries later, Dracula occupied The
|   Throne of Shadows, his henchmen found this transmutation rune in a
|   destroyed Brotherhood enclave. Not only was it the last of its kind,
|   it was also the most powerful, with complete transmutation power
|   over any alchemical element. And now it is in the hands of the
|   Prince of Darkness...
|
|   Press and hold the down button to open the Relics Menu and use the
|   right stick to select it. Use the Transmutation Rune with Square
|   or Triangle.
|
| THOUGHTS: I'm sitting here typing this skill list up at the end of the
|           game... and this is nowhere to be found. I'm guessing this
|           entry disappeared once you got more relics or something...
|           not 100% sure. If you know, go ahead and email me.
|
|           This isn't in the DLC either... dunno where you get this damn
|           thing. I've seen people use it in the DLC though. Bah.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

 RELICS
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

    TEARS OF A SAINT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o  Hold R2 (Tears of a Saint Selected)
|
| o The Tears of a Saint recover Dracula's health completely and
|   temporarily increase his maximum health.
|
|   Press and hold the down button to open the Relics Menu and use the
|   right stick to select it. Activate it by pressing and holding R2.
|
| THOUGHTS: This is likely the most-needed relic as it can save your
|           life quite literally. Instantly restoring your health is
|           godly... enjoy!
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    ENSNARED DEMON
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o  Hold R2 (Ensnared Demon Selected)
|
| o The energy of the Ensnared Demon constantly regenerates the Chaos
|   and Void Magic for a limited time. When its influence finishes, the
|   host's magic reserve is depleted. Activating the Ensnared Demon will
|   cancel any other timed relic in use.
|
|   Press and hold the down button to open the Relics Menu and use the
|   right stick to select it. Activate it by pressing and holding R2.
|
| THOUGHTS: A very useful relic, especially when you are out of magic
|           anyways, or need the unlimited magic it provides. Extremely
|           useful on challenges as well.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    STOLAS' CLOCK
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o  Hold R2 (Stolas' Clock Selected)
|
| o Breaking the Stolas' Clock momentarily slows the actions of enemies
|   and awards extra Experience Points for each attack you make.
|
|   Activating the Stolas' Clock will cancel any other timed relic in use.
|
|   Press and hold the down button to open the Relics Menu and use the
|   right stick to select it. Activate it by pressing and holding R2.
|
| THOUGHTS: Another useful item. I recommend using them whenever you
|           feel that you are about to be in a big fight, or against a
|           tough enemy. The extra experience alone is worth it.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    SEAL OF ALASTOR
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o  Hold R2 (Seal of Alastor Selected)
|
| o While its effect lasts, it temporarily unlocks all of the skills of
|   the available weaons and increases their Mastery Level.
|
|   Activating the Seal of Alastor will cancel any other timed relic in
|   use.
|
|   Press and hold the down button to open the Relics Menu and use the
|   right stick to select it. Activate it by pressing and holding R2.
|
| THOUGHTS: I never used this relic. Like, every. It is not ever really
|           needed in my opinion. However, using it early on and being
|           able to use more advanced moves would be very helpful...
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

 VAMPIRIC POWERS
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

    GLACIEM BLADE
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
|
| o Attacks made while the Blaciem Sword is active will replenish your
|   health at the cost of Glaciem Magic. Some ice attacks can freeze enemies.
|   Frozen enemies are very weak to blows with magic other than Glaciem.
|
|   Activation: Press L1 to invoke or uninvoke your Glaciem Blade.
|
|   Absorption: Press and hold the L3 button to gather the surrounding
|   Blood Orbs into your Glaciem Magic container.
|
| THOUGHTS: This is the same as the Void Power from the main game.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    IGNEAS BLADE
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
|
| o Attacks made while the Igneas Blade is invoked inflict more
|   damage at the cost of Igneas Magic. On Impact, the Igneas Blade can
|   heat the enemies' shields to the breaking point.
|
|   Activation: Press R1 to invoke or uninvoke your Igneas Blade.
|
|   Absorption: Press and hold the R3 button to gather the surrounding
|   Blood Orbs into your Igneas Magic container.
|
| THOUGHTS: This is the same as the Chaos Power from the main game.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    BAT CLOUD
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o  Bat Cloud selected: R2
|
| o With the Bat Cloud selected (left button), press and release R2 to
|   fly toward a hold point. You can select the object by moving the
|   right stick toward it. This skill can only be used when Alucard is
|   standing on a stable surface.
|
| THOUGHTS: A very cool and useful power. Essential to solving the puzzles
|           in the game, that's for sure. None of these powers are for
|           battle though, which is a bit of a drag.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    TIMELESS VISION
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o  Timeless Vision selected: R2
|
| o With Timeless Vision selected (left button), press and release R2 to
|   fly toward a hold point. You can select the object by moving the
|   right stick toward it.
|
| THOUGHTS: A cool enough power. I read somewhere that this was meant to
|           go into the main game, but didn't make it. Recycling at its
|           finest, it seems.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    SPECTRAL WOLF
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o  Spectral Wolf selected: R2 + L
|
| o With the Spectral Wolf selected (right button) press and hold R2 to
|   project Alucard's presence in astral form. In this state you can go
|   through some obstacles as well as jump long distances. Remember that
|   while you use this ability, Alucard's physical body will remain
|   defenseless in its original position.
|
| THOUGHTS: This is a neat move that ties in with the main game as well.
|           Really liked how they used it in the puzzles too.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

 CRISSAEGRIM
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
(-NOTE-) I typed these up after buying them all, so the below skills may or
may not include upgraded versions of moves. Keep that in mind.

    COMBINED STAB
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Square, x5
|
| o A series of quick, direct stabbing attacks executed with the sword
|   against a single target.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your go to move, especially in the beginning of the game.
|           Likely the first skill you will master.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    SOMERSAULT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o L2 + X
|
| o While blocking with L2 use the jump button X to leap over and land
|   behind your enemy.
|
| THOUGHTS: A very effective way of getting behind shielded enemies or
|           guarding foes. Keep it in mind! You can also avoid some
|           horizontal based attacks by doing this (be careful of
|           vertical attacks!).
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    COUNTERSTRIKE STAB
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o After a Synchronized Block: Square, x3
|
| o Immediately after a Synchronized Block, you can unleash a
|   devastating direct counter attack. This combo can be used both on
|   the ground and in the air.
|
| THOUGHTS: This move pours on the damage fast and helps out with your
|           combat focus immensely. Always a good move to pull off.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    SOMERSAULT STAB
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o After a Somersault: Square, x3
|
| o After leaping over enemies using a Somersault, immediately press
|   Square repeatedly to attack them from behind before they can react.
|   Especially useful against enemies blocking your blows.
|
| THOUGHTS: Well, you may as well hit them now that you are back there!
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    VENGEFUL STAB
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Hold Square, Square x4
|
| o Press and hold the Square button to begin a sequence of heavy direct
|   attacks. Pressing Square repeatedly will add further hits to the
|   combo resulting in a Block Breaker.
|
| THOUGHTS: I love this move. So handy. It deals very good damage and
|           can force its way through some enemies guards as well.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    RISING STAB
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Square, X
|
| o Direct rising attack that can lift up smaller enemies in front of
|   you, allowing additional attacks to be added whilst airborne.
|
| THOUGHTS: A handy move, useful in launching smaller enemies and then
|           juggling them in mid-air. I like to finish off with a
|           Smashing Stab as well.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    AERIAL STAB
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o In the air: Square x3
|
| o Series of direct cutting attacks executed in the air. Linking hits with
|   this combo keeps you suspended in the air allowing you to combine them
|   with other moves.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your basic air attacks. Handy that it doesn't drop you right
|           away. They give you enough time to pretty much do whatever
|           you want before you fall.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    SMASHING STAB
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o In the air: Hold Square
|
| o Press and hold the Square button while airborne to use this direct
|   cut as a finisher for any aerial attack sequence. Your sword will
|   smash down any enemies in front of you.
|
|   When you land, you can hold the Square button longer to deal a
|   powerful blow. Good for dissipating enemies on the ground and
|   making fliers land.
|
| THOUGHTS: Another one of my favorites, the Smashing Stab is not only
|           powerful but awesome looking. A great finisher to airborne
|           combat. Just watch out for how long it takes you to pull up
|           after you get the upgrade.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    CONCENTRATED STAB
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o L2 + Square + L
|
| o Press and hold L2 and Square to adopt the concentrated attack
|   position. Then move the left stick toward your enemies to knock them
|   down with a quick charging movement with the sword.
|
| THOUGHTS: A very cool move. The graphics for it are very neat too.
|           A powerful attack that sacrifices a defensive position though,
|           so be careful.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    DROP AND PERFORATION
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o (In the Air) HOLD L2 + Square
|
| o Dive with the sword that generates a great explosion capable of
|   elevating nearby enemies. Useful to buy time against a group of
|   adversaries.
|
| THOUGHTS: A cool move to use as a finisher, especially against multiple
|           enemies. Good graphics too.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    ULTIMATE IGNEAS
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o HOLD R1 + L
|
| o Press and hold R1 to concentrate the pure essence of the Ignease Blade
|   and attract small enemies in front of Alucard. Move the left stick
|   toward them to unleash a multitude of stabs with a brutal charging
|   movement. This skill consumes a lot of Igneas Magic, but it is
|   infallible against any enemy's defense.
|
| THOUGHTS: The ultimate offensive move. This helped me a ton in the
|           "Prince of Darkness" mode on the bosses. BWAHAHA.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    COMBINED CUT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Triangle x6
|
| o A combined series of area attacks cutting attacks, less powerful than
|   the Combined Stab, but very useful against a large group of enemies.
|   The last cut generates a devastating shock wave.
|
| THOUGHTS: When you want to attack more than a single enemy, this is
|           your move! Helpful on weaker enemies and clearing out rooms
|           for items.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    COUNTERSTRIKE CUT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o After a Synchronized Block: Triangle x3
|
| o Immediately after a Synchronized Block, you can unleash a
|   devastating area counter attack that affects all surrounding
|   enemies.
|
| THOUGHTS: If you block a move and have a good number of enemies
|           around, this is probably the counter you want to go with.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    VENGEFUL CUT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Hold Triangle, Triangle x6
|
| o Press and hold the Triangle button to start a sequence of
|   spinning area cutting attacks. Pressing Triangle repeatedly adds
|   additional attacks to this combo to inflict damage on all nearby
|   enemies.
|
| THOUGHTS: This move is very cool looking and can pile on damage fast,
|           but be aware that your sides are exposed. The final hit is
|           really good as well.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    RISING CUT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Triangle, X
|
| o Area rising cut that can lift up all smaller enemies around
|   you, allowing additional attacks to added whilst airborne.
|
| THOUGHTS: This move lifts up more enemies than the rising whip, but
|           doesn't have a huge range. I don't use this that much. Weapon
|           Mastery aside, of course.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    AERIAL CUT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o In the air: Triangle x3
|
| o Series of area cutting attacks executed in the air. Linking hits with
|   this combo keeps you suspended in the air allowing you to combine them
|   with other moves.
|
| THOUGHTS: Your basic area air attacks. Not that useful, as you are
|           usually not facing tons of enemies in the air. Maybe if you
|           brought them up with you...
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    SMASHING CUT
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o In the air: Hold Triangle
|
| o Press and hold the Triangle button while airborne to use this area
|   cut as a finisher in any aerial attack sequence. The sword will
|   spin around Alucard generating a whirlwind that hits nearby enemies
|   and drags them to the ground on the way down.
|
| THOUGHTS: Not nearly as good as the Smashing Stab, but decent if you are
|           about to land in the middle of a bunch of enemies.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    STORM OF CUTS
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o Hold L2 + Triangle
|
| o Brandishes the sword at great speed around Alucard to absorb the
|   nearby small enemies and punish them with a boradside of cuts.
|
| THOUGHTS: This one is cool. Useful against smaller enemies, and even
|           does another quick trip after you'd think it was done. Very
|           neat.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    ELEVATING WHIRLWIND
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o (In the Air) HOLD L2 + Square
|
| o Generates a whirlwind that elevates nearby small enemies, leaving
|   them defenseless against your next aerial attacks.
|
| THOUGHTS: This move is the "get up here" move. I didn't use it very
|           much, but it's handy if you love the air, I suppose.
|
`-.----------------------------------------------------------------------'

    ULTIMATE GLACIEM
.-´¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
| o HOLD L1
|
| o Press and hold L1 to unleash the pure essence of the Glaciem Blade
|   and propel Alucard in circles that freeze everything in his way.
|   During execution, you can direct Alucard's movement with the left
|   stick. This skill consumes a lot of Glaciem Magic, but it is
|   tremendously effective against groups of enemies.
|
| THOUGHTS: The ultimate defensive move. This fills up your health in
|           a hurry while making you invincible. It doesn't do a TON of
|           damage, but its healing property and the fact that it can
|           FREEZE lesser enemies is fantastic. A must-have!
|

Here you can find all of the Lore entries in the game... yes, I am crazy
enough (about Castlevania) to type all of this stuff out. Enjoy!

(-NOTE-) Many of these Lore entries contain SPOILERS. They often name boss
enemies, so don't go reading this section before you are ready to!

 BELMONT LINEAGE
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
o Alucard

After the events reflected in the Mirror of Fate, Dracula's first born
kept away from the human cities, before accepting his new nature.

He wandered in the night like one of the godless creatures that he swore
to destroy so long ago, until he understood that there was nothing he could
do now to get back the life that was taken away from him. He could only
abandon his old beliefs and fight for the one thing that made sense of his
  existence.

After visiting the tomb of the wife he longed for, he set out alone on a
campaign to hunt down the creatures of darkness and watch over the new
generations of men. When the prince of shadow's castle once again rose from
its rubble, the trail led him to his father once again.

"Trevor died long ago, father...I am Alucard, a vampire!" - Alucard

o Dracula

Not even his descendants, the Belmonts, nor the innumerable army of the
Brotherhood of Light have even come close to annihilating him. He is Dracul,
the Dragon; an immortal being whose cursed soul is condemned to remain
trapped in the body of the vampire, bound to his castle for all eternity.

From the beginning, the unbearable yearning for revenge has driven him
along the path of ire and destruction, a path of infinite suffering and
despair, a road that he would now like to leave behind.

"That's why the power of your God cannot destroy me... Because I am his
  chosen one!" - Dracula

o Marie

The story of Marie goes well beyond one of courage and fervent loyalty.
When the mirror revealed Gabriel's fate, she was forced to make the most
difficult decision a mother ever has to face. She turned her son over to
the Brotherhood of Light, his his existence from her own husband, and
sacrificed her life for the good of humanity.

Despite having died long ago, her memory remains alive in Dracula,
awakening the emotions of the man he once was, guiding his actions toward
the light, and reminding him that the end of his lineage is near...

"Remember, I am always with you." - Marie

 BROTHERHOOD OF LIGHT
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
o Brotherhood Soldier

The boys who prove that they are skilled enough with the sword are
recruited by the Brotherhood of Light in their campaign against the
  forces of evil.

The tough physical and mental training they are given makes them very
efficient in close combat, providing them with iron-clad determination.
However, if their willpower is not enough they wear full armor and carry
large shields to protect their lives instead. As lower ranking members,
the brother hood soldiers are sent to their deaths by their generals with
the sole hope of offering them a better fate than their own.

"Follow me, brothers! For if you do, you will meet a death more honorable
than any you could imagine." - Cardinal Vicus, Grand Master of the
  Brotherhood.

o Heavy Brotherhood Warrior

When the great werewolves and wargs drastically reduced the ranks of their
armies, the wise men of the Brotherhood of Light understood that their
style of battle had become obsolete against these enormous creatures. As a
solution, they decided to study the hunting techniques of the Wallachia
tribes and adapt them to create a new discipline of heavy combat.

The warriors chosen to join this new school, mostly criminals and
ex-convicts, had to be over two meters tall and prove a clear aptitude
  for violence.

Despite the refusal of the most traditional commanders, the heavy warriors
ended up becoming a key part of the brotherhood's war machinery.

"Hurry up! I want to decorate my shield with vampire blood." - Grand Master
  Quisada, Brotherhood General

o Brotherhood Cleric

Protected inside their churches and cathedrals, the brotherhood clerics
limited themselves to praying for the lives of their brothers sent into
battle. However, the growing threat to their borders had awakened the
bellicose nature of the members of the school founded by Cardinal Volpe in
  less fateful times.

After years dedicated to the study and worship of the divine word, they
have gained the favor of God as the catalysts of their own holy power.
Through their scepters, they materialize their faith in ways as different
as calming the nerves of their allies, launching powerful exorcisms against
impious creatures and even invoking replacement troops who will await their
  call.

"Fight without fear, brothers! God will guide your swords to the hearts of
the beasts!" - Agustin of Wygol, High Inquisitor of the Brotherhood

 ZOBEK'S SOCIETY
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
o Zobek Lieutenant

No one knows the identity of the man accompanying the astute Zobek in his
crusade for power. It is rumored that he wears armor forged from metal
extracted from the abyss and that he adeptly brandishes a mystical sword by
the name of "Masamune," capable of going beyond the material realm.

Some records indicate that he is the spirit of a damned general; others
that he is a demon that must pay a debt to Death. However, the most popular
story is the one that classifies him as a result of the necromanic
reanimation of a legendary warrior. After all, it would not be the first
time that Zobek used witchcraft to create a powerful armed guard...

"I was looking for a Dragon... but all I see is a lizard!"
  - Zobek's Lieutenant

 CASTLE DWELLERS
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

o Dishonored Vampire

Following the fall of Dracula at the hands of the first Belmonts, the
vampire knights lost their blood bond and went mad, victims of their own
perversion. They cast aside their noble appearance and once again enjoyed
the primal pleasures that came from the meat of pests, returning to the
beastly appearance that they shared in bygone times.

Finally, with the resurgence of the prince, they came back from their
corruption and bowed once more before their lord. They yanked off their
wings as penance for their degradation, and they forged monstrous weapons
with which to expand their vampiric powers.

The solemn oath to defend the castle from intruders became their sole
mission for the rest of eternity. Only the cursed blood of Dracula is
influential enough to sway them from their objective.

"You're not our Lord anymore!" - Dishonored Vampire

o Dungeon Minion

It wasn't long after Dracula's rise to power that the first humans, from
nearby regions, paid homage and swore allegiance to the Prince of Darkness.
In exchange for their pathetic lives, they agreed to kill anyone who did not
join the cause, whether stranger, acquaintance or relative. With each murder
they committed, their bodies transformed gradually into that of a foul
beast, as if it were a physical reflection of their cowardly and treacherous
soul. Once they were left without a trace of humanity, they withdrew to the
deepest reaches of the castle to defend the interests of their lord under
the orders of the dungeon guards.

"You need no fear pain if you give it out first..." - Dracula

o Dungeon Jailer

Some of the jailers were especially violent and unscrupulous, dismembering
their own during the "flesh tournaments" held under the castle. As a reward
for their exploits, they won the right to keep the cadaver and the armor of
those they defeated. Devouring the bodies, they developed their physiques
even more, becoming giant masses of muscle. With the metal, they forged
crude armor, with plates leaving some parts for their back exposes, and an
enormous hammer capable of breaking any defense when hot.

The fear they inspire in the rest of their kind makes them the undisputed
masters of the dungeon. As proof of that, they carry a key that gives
access to a section of their territory.

"If you don't give that key to me now, I will take if from your cadaver."
  - Dracula

o Keeper of the Void Sword

Serving the orders that echo of the castle gives them, the Dungeon
Jailers quickly hid the Void Sword to keep Dracula from finding it on his
return. The leader, more corpulent and better armored than the rest, carries
the weapon clumsily, followed by a group of henchmen with little interest
in self-preservation. Despite not understanding how its magical properties
work, the Keeper of the Void Sword seems to be affected by the energy that
envelops it, making him able to project it at will. The enormous beast's
fascination when contemplating the cold blade of the Void Sword makes it
clear that no creature will be able to take it away from him, except over
  hid dead body.

"This sword doesn't belong to you!" - Alucard

o Harpy of the Depths

Many evil beings have roamed the castle since Bernhard's demonic pact
was formulated. Dracula enslaved most of them when he arrived, adopting
only the few that were powerful or wild enough to deserve their freedom.
That was the case of the harpies, ferocious beasts whose appearance has
been deformed terribly by years of seclusion underground, far from the
mountains they came from. In their new habitat, they protect the rooms
of the three sisters while they await the arrival of new sacrifices with
which to soothe their appetite for hunting.

"Those winged witches are like wyverns in the air, but they are little
more than hens on the ground. I'll find a way to make them come down..."
  - Dracula

o Bloody Skeleton

The souls of the skeleton warriors, which Gabriel battled in the past,
left their bodies in the material world. Free of the spell of the Toy
Maker, their bones have become the tempting target of the cursed blood,
which invades and controls them as if they were puppets. Their meatless
bodies wrapped in plasma carry their rusty weapons to attack their lord
once more. No thought is held in their empty skulls other than the urge
to run Dracula out of their dominion.

"Nothing can be done in the fight against the fluid except to dissolve it
with hits or freeze it and split it into thousands of frozen particles."
  - Master Librarian

o Bloody Lancer

The remains of the elite guard who one day fought at the forefront against
the forces of the Brotherhood of Light were left to float adrift after the
defeat of the Prince of Darkness. However, the cursed blood of Dracula soon
invaded the castle, covering their bones and reviving their extremities to
defend the legacy of their lord. The Bloody Lancers are experts in the use
of the weapons that give them their name, and they use their disciplined
combat training to impale any creature, beast or man who dares enter their
  domain.

"Step aside or I'll crush your bones!" - Alucard

o Navigators

He was originally a traveller from another plane with a humanoid appearance
who, attracted by the evil of the castle, succumbed to the void power within
it. The extreme, prolonged exposure to the energy that Dracula offered
deformed him and divided his being into different deformed avatars, free
from concepts such as pain, time or existence itself. The plural creature
adapted to the lack of gravity or space-related limitations of beings that
exist in just one plane, expanding and occupying several corners of the
castle at the same time. Moved by the need to satisfy the Keeper of the Void
Sword, the Navigators responded to his presence, folding space around him
and transporting him from one point in the fortress to another.

However, the Dragon's sleep detained the energy flow needed to prevail and,
after several centuries, they finally perished.

 SOLDIERS' DIARIES
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
 o Alec's Fear

I don't know how many days it's been since the harpies attacked us. I
felt like I lost consciousness when I defended myself against one of them
and then I appeared up here, far from solid land and even further from my
   home.

How did I get here? What could have happened to my brothers?

The deep wound on my chest seems to be infected... there is a festering
white substance that is poisoning my blood and fogging my mind. Maybe I'm
delirious, but I can't help thinking that I'm experiencing the terrifying
story I heard some time ago from my captain:

He told about how one of his comrades was injured and abducted by a
winged beast with the body of a woman, and how he was found days later with
his limbs amputated. While he was captured, he was forces by his captor to
perform acts that went against his honor, and his flesh was used to feed
the new life they had begotten.

 o Morian's Door

The members of my division were conducting reconnaissance outside of the
castle, preparing for the assault, when we were caught up in a terrible
snow storm. Fearing that we would be trapped, with time against us, we
decided to split up to find a way in. After a tedious journey, I found a
passage into the mountain. I followed it to a circular anteroom with a
strange device in the center and an enormous metal door. I pushed it, beat
it and stabbed it with my sword with all my might. The tremendous cold had
frozen its hinges, making it an impassive giant that laughed at my
insistence. I will finish this report, rest a bit and return to my
comrades. I'm sure the proud door will be kind enough to cede to the subtle
passage of our maces and battering rams.

 o Indignant Arnold

    What is that idiot thinking?!

Not only does he call my inept, but he also orders me to walk through
this snow storm in search of a safe entrance for the rest of the division.
While he's sitting there, I'm risking my neck out here... But of course!
   He's in charge!

And to top it off, to show his enormous "generosity" to the rest, he gave
me a frayed map that I'm supposed to understand. How the hell am I supposed
to read with this? I can't even tell a damp stain on the tower from Dracula
   himself!

When I get back, I'm going to give that cretin a piece of my mind!

 o Sir Francis's Invitation

Buried in the snow, I've found an invitation that might have belonged to
an old visitor to the castle. On golden paper, written in ink in bright
colors, the following can be read:

"Welcome to the Toy Maker's marvelous gust house! Spend an unforgettable
night with the most exotic creatures! Enjoy our juggling show with shields
and and knives! Dine on unique dishes made with delicious manticore glands!
Dance until dawn in our stake room! Don't wait another second and come
   right in!"

 o Sir Thomas's Last Dance

    Safe at last!

I'm not quite sure how I managed to get out of that last passageway
alive... Could it be that this new lightweight armor I'm wearing has
   brought me luck?

This room actually looks a lot like a ballroom. I can't really see what's
in the middle of the room from here... perhaps a modern musical device to
liven up the evenings, but it seems to be in bad shape. If I were skilled
   enough to repair it...

I wish you were here, my love, to dance with you again.

    Damned war...

And damned shield. I pulled it off of one of the statues, but I doubt
it's worth taking with me because I don't know that it will be of use
   against the traps.

I'm going to rest a moment, to think about my next move and try to heal
my wounds. I think I was hit by one of those stakes, and I haven't got much
ointment left... but I'll survive... and I'll return home to dance with
   you, my love.

 o Angry Sir Rolfe

I've figured out how to get out of this damned ballroom, it had a
convenient mortal saw installed in the center! I was also able to dodge
the blades of the lethal grid in the previous room. And despite that,
here I am, unable to get past this new trap. The solution seems so
impossible to me that my only hope is to lay here and wait to see if a
whirlwind will come and take me to my destination!

The thing is that the strange pegs from the upper room lower and raise
the lift when you loosen them, but how does the Toy Maker expect someone
to hang onto the peg in one room and at the same time be inside the lift?
There's no way the Toy Maker has designed an enigma that is impossible to
solve. I wouldn't expect something like that from the Puppet Master!

Out of sheer desperation, I tried to jump through the gap to try and
quickly reach the booth before the door of the lift closed. Bad idea. Now
I'm lying here, with my legs broken and a quill in my hand, complaining
   about my misfortune...

 o Chief Adrian's Diary

Day 1: This pool of putrid blood spits out the bones of its victims with
the waves. Swimming across is impossible. I can barely stand the stench,
and I need to get away to eat my rations.

Day 3: Maybe I could bring some floating objects to thi slake and jump
from one to another to reach the other side.

Day 3 (evening): There are vampires nearby. If God gives me strength,
I'll find appropriate boxes. My rations are finished; soon I will no
   longer be a good fighter.

Day 5: I've got the boxes here now... and they float! If I can get past
this hunger, I will soon be able to cross this damned flooded room.

Day 6: I was splashed by a bit of blood, but I've made it to the other
side. Maybe it isn't lethal in small amounts. I just need to try not to
fall into it. Soon I will figure out the mechanism on the other side of
   the lake!

Day 6 (evening): I've found a new way to feed myself. Today is my lucky
day. With renewed energy, I'll think hard and resolve the enigma!

Recipe: Grind or chop a bit of onion and parsley and beat it with the
blood, filtering out any bones. Take out the chopped produce before it
begins to fry. Clean out the clots and allow to cool.

 o Karl's Weariness

I'm tired of wandering through the rooms of this damned castle, one
after another. The blood that envelops it never stops trying to devour me
and, although I know the way out, I still haven't got the energy.

The process seems simple: put weight on the pressure mechanism and run
toward the exit before it closes, or the blood engulfs the path.

However, it gets more complicated with each new room I discover, and I
don't think I'm fast enough to get past this final challenge.

Version 0.01: April 15th, 2014
-------------------------------

Just starting the guide. Laying out some of the formatting. Already played
a good chunk of the DLC, but going to start over so I can write as I go.
Took me a long time to get to this. I blame Time & Eternity. Not by choice
though... *shudder*.

Version 1.00: January 30th, 2015 - February 1st, 2015
-----------------------------------------------------

FINALLY finishing up the guide. Hey, it took less than a year after starting!
Look at that! Just decided to spend a weekend and do this finally... no real
other reason. I think maybe all of two people bugged me about this in all that
time, so I highly doubt anyone is looking forward to this a ton, but oh well.

On a side note, Super Bowl 49 today. Pats vs. Seahwaks. Go hawks! :D
