1. Intro ********************************BB_1********************************
Welcome to my FAQ for BlasterBall 2: Revolution. This game is actually based
off an old game (which I cannot remember precisely), a popular Atari game. It,
much like this, was quite addictive and unbelievably fun.
But I digress. Here is an FAQ for you. Enjoy.

=============================================================================
Controls
=============================================================================
Mouse:
-- Left and right movement moves the paddle.
-- Right-clicking allows you to serve the ball, use lasers, and such.
Keyboard:
-- The left and right arrows move the paddle.
-- The spacebar serves the ball, uses lasers, etc.
Both (Keyboard-based):
-- "F" makes it full-screened or in a window.
-- "Q" allows you end the current game.
-- "P" allows you to pause.
-- Alt+F4 allows you sometimes to instantly exit the game in entirety.
=============================================================================
Object of the Game
=============================================================================
At the bottom of the screen, you'll notice a rectangular object called a
paddle. This paddle is used to launch your ball at the start of level and
life, and then is used to bounce the ball back and forth.
In doing so, you'll end up hitting some of the bricks. Doing so will net you
some points, detailed further on. From these bricks may drop some power-ups,
good or bad, also detailed later on.
You'll be doing in one of the numerous levels of the game, numbering over one
hundred. To continue to the next level, you have to remove all of the bricks in
one level, or hit a Star Brick, which transports you to a special bonus level
(where the same thing almost always occurs, but you don't lose lives).
Your game will eventually end when you lose all of your lives. You lose a life
by letting all of the balls bounce past your paddle. To gain more lives, grab
the 1-Up power-ups, or get 25,000 points. You'll begin each game with three
lives. After having a game over, you'll be allowed to start where you left off,
but with zero points and three lives. If you opt to leave, you'll start at the
last level with a multiple of ten, if you wish, but no further.
Additionally, at the end of each twenty stages, you'll battle a Guardian. These
are the "bosses" of the game and you have to defeat them by hitting them with
your ball. The boss will eventually fall from your shot-making. Additionally,
the boss may drop power-ups for you to grab.
=============================================================================
Scoring
=============================================================================
The following are your basic scoring things:
-- Bricks: See separate section.
-- Critters: Each is worth 10 points.
-- Power-Ups: You'll gain 100 points for each grabbed, and the multipliers
can affect all scoring.
There are also some bonuses for finishing levels in a certain manner:
-- Survivor: You'll get 1,000 points for not losing a life.
-- Completion: You'll get 5,000 points for destroying everything in a level.
-- One-Minute: You'll get 4,000 points for finishing levels in less than one
minute.
-- Two-Minute: You'll get 1,000 points for finishing levels in less than two
minutes.
There are some details about multipliers that are also worth noting. Any given
multiplier will drop from a brick or critter and display its multiplier: 2x or
3x. These, for twenty seconds after being touched by the paddle, will affect
all scoring, except end-of-level bonuses.
What if you grab two at once and score? Well, the multipliers are added. In
that way, you can have two 2x bonuses for a 4x, or the max of five 3x bonuses
for 15x. Pretty sweet, eh?
=============================================================================
Bricks
=============================================================================
-- There is a monotone block that can come in several colors, except gold. It
is worth fifty points, and is gone with one hit.
-- The gray, tapered two-hit brick needs two hits. The first hit is worth ten
points, and the second is worth fifty.
-- There are greenish bricks with an X mark on them. They cannot be destroyed.
-- There are some dark gray bricks with a diamond on them. These Phantom Bricks
will be destroyed, then pop back later. You'll get nothing for them.
-- There is a orange-red brick. This brick will damage or destroy all blocks
around when hit. It alone is worth fifty points.
-- The dark purple Plague Brick will, when hit, make blocks all around it. It
is worth fifty points.
-- The yellow star-marked Secret Brick is only available at certain periods of
time in certain levels. It, if hit, will send you to a secret level with
loads of Gold Bricks and a bunch of multipliers!
-- The Gold Brick is a tapered, gold-colored brick. Rarely seen outside of the
secret levels, it is worth a whopping 250 points!
=============================================================================
Power-Ups
=============================================================================
Power-ups can fall from bricks you destroy. Getting them will net you an
initial one hundred points, and a potential bonus effect. Some will affect your
paddle, and others affect the ball, while others affect neither. Only one
power-up for the paddle is used at any given time. The others can accumulate.
-- The "D" power-up makes all balls in play split into three.
-- The "8" power-up splits all balls in play into eight!
-- The "B" power-up makes all balls turn into red-hot streaks that break
instantly through all but the indestructible blocks.
-- The "S" power-up slows down all balls.
-- The "F" power-up speeds up all balls.
-- The "A" power-up allows you to re-launch a ball when it hits your paddle.
-- The "T" power-up splits your paddle into two. Beware the middle gap!
-- The "M" power-up shrinks your paddle to half its normal size.
-- The "G" power-up lengthens your paddle to twice its normal size.
-- The "L" power-up lets you fire lasers to hit blocks and Critters by using
the launch button (the left mouse button or the spacebar).
-- The "P" power-up makes a "ghost" of your paddle follow you. This will
badly affect any angles you try to make, but the ghost can deflect balls and
can make your total paddle up to three times as wide than usual.
-- The "C" power-up makes a field of energy appear at the bottom of the screen,
saving you from losing a ball that hits that field.
-- The star-marked power-up gives you one life.
-- The lightning-marked power-up destroys all visible Critters.
-- The "2x" power-up doubles all points gained. Can be cumulative and added
with other multipliers. Lasts for twenty seconds.
-- The "3x" power-up triples all points gained. Can be cumulative and added
with other multipliers. Lasts for twenty seconds.
=============================================================================
Critters
=============================================================================
Throughout the levels, you'll probably across some of these weird things that
are not blocks, power-ups, or Guardians. These are called Critters. Mostly
there to annoy you, they can do certain things, including reflecting a ball
that hits it. They will give you ten points when you defeat them.
-- The Drifter looks like just a multicolored ball of energy, and they just
really move in a somewhat-straight line.
-- The Darter looks like a gray rock surrounded by red balls. It swoops around
and pauses at random intervals before going off in another direction.
-- The Breaker looks like the theorized nucleus of an atom. It'll wander around
until hit, then split into four balls that bounce around the board. They can
destroy bricks in this manner.
-- The Exploder looks like a green ball surrounded by two green rings. Once
hit, it'll explode and destroy nearby blocks.
-- The Bricklayer looks like a purple, multi-faceted ball. It'll only move in
straight lines, sometimes stopping to become a brick.
