Introduction
==============================================================================
This is my first FAQ for a PC game and my first online game as well. The
game, Ashen Empires, is an Medieval Fantasy Massively-Multiplayer Online Role
Playing Game (MMORPG for short) and yes, you get to play in the game with
other people from across the world! This is really a fun game to play and
you get to play a role in the medieval timeline. There isn't a large quest
in the game somewhere (I hope in the future) but to level up and kill Talazar
and his many minions or to be the best of all.
There are plenty of other things you can do besides leveling up and hunt by
yourself or with a friend or party. You can take part in farming, trading,
blacksmithing, leathering, woodworking, participate in a little quest and
more!

Story
==============================================================================
The Time of Gold
Long ago, before the thinking races had tamed the horse or built the first
cities, the rune-guardians of Dransik mastered the magic of the runes, learned
to control animals and plants and perhaps even weather... and then vanished.
Centuries later, the peace they had fashioned still endured. Food was
plentiful, customs were calm, and people had no ancient hatreds to blind
them. The thinking races humans, night elves, orcs, and other folk did not
wage war upon one another. Wise rule, hard work, and brisk trade ensured
prosperity. Knowledge was shared, dangerous beasts kept outside the frontiers,
and all the land was a single nation.
It was a golden age.
But golden ages do not last forever.
The Time of Darkness
No one knows where they came from, the dark warriors. Suddenly they were
everywhere, speaking languages not known to the people of Dransik, seizing
knowledge of the runes wherever they could find it. They used the runes to
create items of terror weapons, armor, implements of torture, objects that
wrenched mind and soul. These runic devices corrupted the spirits of all who
used them.
As the armies of Rune Warriors grew, so grew the resolve of the people of
Dransik to destroy them. The desire for peace, even the very concept of peace,
was abandoned.
Lotor, a nobleman of Krythan and later king of that region (once Dransik
was sundered into warring nations) was the first great defender against the
Rune Warriors. He built armies of his own, made peace among nations that had
been founded upon strife, outmaneuvered his enemies, and gave hope to a world
that had all but lost it.
And even though the war grew long and Lotor grew old, he found a warrior to
succeed him as the hope of Dransik. Talazar, the Sword of Krythan, a noble
fighter no Rune Warrior could stand against, led Lotor’s armies to victory
again and again.
He was a hero for all the world.
But such heroes do not last forever.
The Time of Ash
In time, the armies of Krythan defeated the Rune Warriors and assembled all
their runic artifacts. King Lotor summoned his twelve greatest warriors,
Talazar among them, and commanded them to take the artifacts far away to
hide them where the eyes of the thinking races would never find them. The
twelve accepted their duty and rode from the capital with these items of evil.
But none ever reached his intended destination.
Each warrior some after mere days of travel, some after months succumbed to
the corrupting influence of the rune artifacts. One by one their thoughts
turned to personal gain, power, lust, revenge. One by one they abandoned paths
of humility and self-sacrifice to prey upon the people of Dransik.
Some became bandit-kings, leading armies of raiders into more civilized lands.
Some became solitary riders, thundering through the night on missions sane
folk would never understand, their names invoked only in whispers, only to
frighten children. Some died, only to have their heirs accept their rune
artifacts and continue their legacies of pain.
Some disappeared. This was the fate of Talazar, once the greatest of heroes.
Those who saw him in the time before his disappearance say he was no longer a
man, no longer quite human.
Centuries passed, centuries in which the land did not heal, the nations did
not reunite, knowledge did not prosper. Beasts crept into once-civilized
lands. Kings fought kings even when the rune artifacts had no part to play in
their squabbles.
This was a time of slow, inescapable suffering.
But even times such as this do not last forever.
The Time of Renewal
In recent years, prophecies have hinted that a new era was dawning, a time of
change and instability, a time when the ugly balance of the Time of Ash could
be lost... for better or for worse.
Sixteen summers ago, in the nation of Krythan, a boy-child of Lotor’s line
was born and given the name Lotor. He survived to reach his age of majority
and this summer not long ago received the crown of Krythan, taking the royal
name of Lotor II.
Not long after, military forces claiming to belong to Talazar began laying
waste to towns and cities in the western regions. They claimed not to follow
some descendant of the original Talazar, but the corrupted warrior himself,
and tales filtering from those distant places say that he is now a demon, a
thing of inhuman places and unknowable intent.
Heroes, men and women skilled in fighting, have become more numerous in recent
summers, some flocking to the side of Lotor II, some joining the forces of
Talazar, others seeking their own way in this increasingly turbulent land.
And you are one of them.
Your skills and courage are enough to make you the master of any little
village, the champion of any petty nobleman... but that is not enough. The
challenge this new era poses calls to you. You can tip the balance of power
toward Lotor, toward Talazar, toward some fate no one can predict.
This chance waits before you, but you must act soon.
For such opportunities do not last forever...

Creating a Character
==============================================================================
After you sign up and log in on Ashen Empires, pick a server you want to play
in and then create your character!
-NAME
Type in the name of your character here. Most of the names I see on
Ashen Empires are very medieval-like but it can be whatever you name your
character. You should not input anything as your name that may offend
someone or has a curse word in it. It can be a something funny! like
Robin Hood for human, Frodo for Dark Elf, or Shrek for Ogre!
-RACE
There are only three races you can choose from for now. I do not think
there is any difference between the three that are available right now.
Did I just say available? yeah, there used to be 3 other races back in
the old Dransik and they are Tundarian (blue snow creature), High Elf
(not an actual name and its like an Dark Elf but with different colored
skin) and Brimlock (who knows).
I have asked this question on the Q&A board at Dransik.com and one of
the people replied back this:
Night Elf = Less hp by about 2 per lvl but starting armor is 10.
Human = Standard except alignment will raise slightly faster (?)
Orc = Alignment raises slower but you are immune to poison attacks
Also, Night Elves have night vision (which sometimes bugs though). So
they don't need to wear a torch, Lamp of Isos or anything underground
**Thanks to Chameleon and mooman and all of the others at the Q&A board.
-PROFESSION
It doesn't matter what profession you pick because you can do other
professions during the game. If you pick a profession, you are given
some items you will start out with but once you get tired of it (nor
not) you can go in a weapon shop and buy a blade or a projectile and
start a new skill.
There are three type of major professions you get to choose from and
they are Warrior, Craftsman, and Mage. I have listed the description
of each below:
-WARRIOR
Archer - Archers specialize in bow and arrow attacks.
Axeman - Axemen fight with single and double bladed chopping weapons.
Crossbowman - Crossbowmen fire deadly bolts from crossbows.
Footman - Footmen specialize in all types of heavy blunt weapons.
Knife Fighter - Knife fighters specialize in short bladed weapons.
Spearman - Spearmen fight with all types of staves, spears, and polearms.
Swordsman - Swordsmen specialize in long bladed weapons.
-CRAFTSMAN
Blacksmith - Blacksmiths make and repair metal tools, weapons, and armors.
Carpenter - Carpentersa make wooden tools, weapons, and armor from wood.
Cook - Cooks roast meat and fish and baked goods to eat.
Farmer - Farmers plant seeds and harvest food crops and raw materials.
Fisherman - Fishermen catch fish to sell or cook for eating
Leathercrafter - Leathercrafters make and repair leather weapons,
equipments, and armor.
Healer - Healers treat poison and diseases as well as tending wounds.
-MAGE
Body Mage - Body mages cast spells dealing with the body and physical
effects
Mind Mage - Mind mages cast spells dealing with the mind and mental
effects.
Nature Mage - Nature mages cast spells dealing with nature and natural
effects.
Soul Mage - Soul mages cast spells dealing with the soul and spiritual
effects.
After choosing a profession, the very last thing you need to do (or you can
skip it) is to balance your character's attribute. You are given a total of
7 orbs and you can use them to balance our your attribute. To get more orbs,
you need to go out and hunt and kill monsters across the land until you gain
a level. You will be given an extra 2 orbs once you gain a level. The four
attributes are Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity, and Constitution. Probably
strength is the only thing you should focus on raising, intelligence if you
want to be a pure mage.
==============================================================================
The Beginning
==============================================================================
Like I said, there is no "BIG" quest in the game like saving a princess or
something to the like of it. However, there are little quests that involves
running from one town to another with an NPC (non-player character) and a
Guild Master quest which you are better off doing this when you reach a safe
higher level as welkl as some experience quests.
First of all, familiarize yourself with the town you started out in. If you
pick a race, you will start out in the village of the same race. For example,
if you pick human, you will start in Silvest. You will start in Whisperdale
if you choose to be an elf and Krog if you are an Orc. Each of those town
are on their own land, like how Silvest is in Krythan, Whisperdale is in
West Mainland and Krog is in East Mainland. And yes, there are three areas
in the game and you can get to each one by going through a portal.
Lets take a look at what's on your screen. You are the person right in the
middle of the screen without your ID at the top of your head. In the upper
left corner of the screen you will see "FPS: ##". I'm pretty sure this is
abbreviated for Framerate Per Second and I have no idea what it really means
but I have seen those words or the abbreviation of it around. At the bottom
right of the screen you will see several icons and from left to right they
are:
Body
Click on it and it will bring up a screen of your body. This is to show
what clothing(s) you have on and what kind of weapon you have equipped.
There are 6 different parts on your body that you can equip and they are
Head, Hands, Legs, Upper Body, Shield and Weapon. On the left side of the
screen is your character's stats and from top to bottom they are Strength,
Dexterity, Intelligence, and Constitution. The last thing on that list is
Armor and the number will raise and lower depends on what armor you put
on. Try not to put too much armor on if you are a new player because if
you do, you will put on more weight on yourself and your stamina meter
will go down quicker.
Backpack
All of the items you have picked up after killing enemies on the way
after from town to another town will be put here. Having a lot of items
in your backpack can raise your weight up a little bit and your stamina
will go quicker as well.
Skills
Like I said, if you picked a profession you want to work on, you still can
participate in another skill. Clicking this icon will bring a screen of
the skills you have practiced. If you participate in a NPC quest and if
you successfully completed it, the experience points you are given will be
put in the at the bottom of the skill list. You can add whatever how many
experience points you have into one of the skills you have practiced to
raise it so that you can get better in that skill. For the better, you
should add them onto one of the many tradeskills.
Magic
This is only for wizardry stuff. A warrior can be a mage but you'll have
to find a mage staff or whatever stave you can find. You can buy a staff
in the Magic Shop if it has one. Once you find the wand or a type of mage
staff, click on it and then click on the wand to enchant it. This will
activate the wand and bring up the interface of the wand you are holding.
Automap
This is your map of the land you are exploring on. You can enlarge the
map by double clicking on it. If you do double-clicked on the map to
enlarge it, the black area are the area that you haven't exploreD yet.
Chat
Sure, you can chat to other players online if they are on your screen.
You'll find them in the bank in the town chatting away, rarely you'll
run into one running out across the land. To talk to them, press the T
key on your keyboard and start typing away until you hit enter.
There are three ways to chat and they are Normal, Whisper, and Guild.
Players can read what you typed in under normal chat. Stand next to a
player and switch to Whisper by hitting the Tab key after you press the
T key to talk. While whispering, no one can read what you said if another
player isn't one tile around you except for the person next to you. The
guild chat is only for the people who are in a guild and again, those who
aren't in the same guild or are not in a guild cannot read the guild chat.
Followers
This is a pretty neat feature in the game but it isn't really important.
Find a stray dog/wolf or whatever animal that can be tamed and click on
the Follower Icon and mess around with your new pet.
Guild Deed
A guild leader are the one who have access to this icon and they can
do whatever they want to their guild from adding to removing members.
There isn't much you can do on the Guild screen. You have to be a very
skilled character to be in a guild and you can't just join right away.
Some guilds have a set limited character level or strength or whatever.
If you want to start a guild, look for the guild master quest in the
The Beginning section of this FAQ.
Ship Deed
This icon is there but has not yet been activated. It looks like you
can use a ship to travel across water but not one has been invented
as of the moment so the icon stays unactive until ship comes in.
Game Options
Here are some of the background options you can mess around with such
as turning the music on or off, control click to identify (item name
will appear if checked). You can control the music and sound volume by
using the slider.
Those are all of the icons at the bottom section of the statistic area at
the lower right of the screen. The upper section has all those colored bars
numbers and I will explain what they are:
Time
This is located at the very top where you see the sun or moon going
from left to right. The Dransik time is also on there and the time
is a lot faster than the time you are breathing through right now.
I do not think day or night put an effect on Dransik such as more
enemies spawning at night and less in the day or something like that.
Health
The red bar on your screen is your health meter. It will raise once you
add the orbs after going up a level. You can raise more health point if
you add orbs to your constitution. If your health bar is flashing red,
that means you are wounded or close to death and you can heal yourself by
using a potion or a healing rune if you are able to do so.
If you died during a battle or poisoned, you will be warped to your
spawn location. Most of the time you will drop your items and sometimes
equipments. Hurry back to your body and get all of your stuff back
before some lucky wanderer come by your dead body and loot your stuff.
Stamina
This is... your stamina. Think of it as your "tiring" meter. The higher
your stamina is, the faster you move. A low hunger can bring your stamina
down quicker, the weight of your body can put an effect on your stamina
as well. If your stamina is flashing purple, simply stay in one spot
for a while and rest until you are safe to run again back or to a town.
Hunger
This is very unique because all of the RPG games I have played don't
include food to eat. You can understand that if you don't eat enough
food, you will become more tired. You can purchase food at the Inn
if the town has one or you can kill friendly animals such as cows or
deers and then roast the meat they dropped at the oven in the Inn.
Enemies such as snakes, spiders, wargs, and scorpion drops a piece of
their body that you can roast. I never heard of anyone who eats Scorpion
Tail... wouldn't that be poisonous? Gluttons drops a lot of food, but
they are mostly fruits. The hunger bar is the bottom left bar by the way.
Weight
This is the bar on the bottom right and this goes to your armor I'm
pretty sure. The items that are in your backpack will be added to your
weight meter. The lower the weight, the higher your stamina will be and
the more faster you move.
Experience Level
This bars tells you how much experience you need to gain to the next
level. You can either look at the bar or click on the bar to look at
the numbers. To gain the experience, go out and hunt and kill enemies.
I think the bigger the enemies are, the more experience you will receive,
but don't try doing this is you are a new player.
If you want to know what level your character is, the number can be
found as the gray number at the very top right.
Alignment
This is the colored bar at the top right and this tells you if you
are a good player or a bad player and no, this doesn't depends on your
battling skill. You can tell if the player is divine or a criminal by
looking at the color of their name.
White = Divine
Green = Near Divine
Yellow = Neutral
Orange = Above Neutral
Red = Near Criminal
Gray = Permanent Criminal
If you are orange, red, or gray... that means you have committed a crime.
To commit a crime, this includes killing an NPC such as a guard or a
townsperson, player and looting (even if you didn't kill the player).
You will be arrested and sent to jail where criminal players are to be
sent if the guards from a good town catches you. Oh and yeah, if you
are a criminal and if you decide to buy something from a shop anywhere,
the shop owner won't let you buy an item because you are a criminal.
==============================================================================
Skills
==============================================================================
You do not have to be a swordsman or an archer to start of once you play
Dransik. You can take part in other skills that doesn't include battling
with monsters (sometimes). I have listed most of the skills below and what
you need to take part in those skills.
Blacksmithing and Mining
If you want to make blades or armors, then you will have to be a
blacksmith to do this. You can't make a sword without an ore, so
buy a Pick Axe first. Go to a mountain range that is close to your
town and then stand next to it, it doesn't matter where you are, as
long as its a mountain range.
To begin mining, double-click on the axe and you will see your mouse
icon turned into a yellow blipping dot. Drag the icon onto the mountain
just one tile away from you while it is still blipping and click on the
mountain to begin mining. You will get one of these three messages:
"You find no useful material"
"You cannot mine there"
"You have mined some Iron Ore!"
By wearing the Miner's Helm, it will add 10 levels to your mining skill
level.
You will not only mine just ores. At level 30 mining you will be mining
a special ore called Thrallenite and you can find these on regular
mountains. At level 45 you can mine Brimidian ores and Talenite ores at
level 70 mining. You can only mine these off the red (Brimidian) and
black (Talenite) rocks that are in Badlands, Hell, and Scorched Island.
If you get the 2nd message, you may have accidentally clicked on a field
or wooded area while you were trying to mine the mountain. Simply double
click on the Pick Axe again and use it on the mountain. If it pops up
again, move to another spot around the mountain. If you get the 3rd
message and you found an Iron Ore, it will appear in your backpack.
The next step to do is smelt the ores you have. Go to a blacksmith in
your town (try looking in or around the weapon shop) and look for a
forge. The forge may be cold or hot, the cold forge is the one without
the fire being lit. To start up the cold forge, simply double click on
the bellows to heat the cold forge up.
Whiel the forge is heating, double click on the ore in your backpack
and use it on the forge to smelt it. You will get the following two
messages:
"You have destroyed some ore"
"You have smelted ingots!"
If you have some of those special ores (Thrallenite, Brimidian or
Talenite), you can smelt them into ingots.
Ingots are, I believe, a piece of metal or a block/cube of metal. The
next thing you need is the Blacksmith Hammer and you need it to smash
the ingots into something else. Once you buy the hammer, double click
on it and a menu will pop up and you get to pick a weapon, armor or a
tool. Yes, you may make a Broad Sword, but you have to improve your
blacksmithing skill to do so. Pick something you want to make while
forging the ingots and you will get either one of the following three
messages:
"You have lost some ingots"
"You have made (the item you picked)"
"You have lost all of your ingots"
You may use the anvil in the blacksmith shop or you can forge items on
a magical anvil called the Anvil of Veldan. You can make +1 and some +2
weapons on these type of anvil. If you want to forge +2 and +3 weapons,
find the Obelisk (3 locations) to forge on them. The Rune Spire is used
to forge +4 and +5 weapons and you can find those in Badlands Cave and
in Hell.
If you get the last message, go back to the mountain and mine some
more ores and smelt them and forge them until you are a professional
in blacksmithing!
Below is the list of items you can make and the type and quantity of ores
to make one.

Brewing
In order to brew beer you need several tools and many ingredients. First
off you need a brewkettle, this can be purchased at most Tavern vendors.
In addition, you will need a bucket to hold water, and access to an
Oven.
The very first step in brewing is to add water to the brewkettle. Just
add a bucket of water to the brewkettle, move onto the next step.
Add in any order, a type of Hops and a type of Malt Syrup to the
brewkettle. There are 3 types of Hops and they are; Bitterness Hops,
Flavor Hops, and Aroma Hops. All three kinds of hops are bought at a pub.
There are also three types of Malt Syrup and they are; Malt Syrup,
Barley Malt Syrup, and Wheat Malt Syrup. Only one type of syrup is bought
at the pub, and that is Malt Syrup. Players must make the others
themselves.
To make a Barley Malt Syrup, add 1 Cut Barley with 1 Malt Syrup. For Wheat
Malt Syrup, add 1 Wheat Grain with 1 Malt Syrup.
Next thing to do is to add sugar and yeast to the brewkettle. Once you
have added water, a type of hops, a type of malt syrup, sugar, and yeast,
your brewkettle must be boiled by double clicking on the brewkettle and
selecting a warm oven. Few seconds later, you will be informed if you
have successfully started the brewing process. If you fail, all
ingredients are used up and you must start over. If you succeed, you must
wait a short amount of time while the beer brews. Once the beer is ready
you will get a message stating it is ready. Double click on the
brewkettle and you will get 24 pints of whatever beer you brewed. Beer is
a food and will fill you up, but at the expense of decreasing your
stamina.
There are six types of Beer you can brew, here are the recipes.

Cooking
Sure, you can cook! Make your own recipe and eat them or make them for
a friend... or a wedding cake for your loved one.
Remember, you are living in medieval time and you won't find potato
chips or a bag of Doritos in here. You are able to make and bake food
like bread, rolls, or a cake.
You can find plenty of meat, but it doesn't take anything to know how
to roast one. You can find Rabbit Meat, Vension (Deer), Steak (Cow/Bull),
Scorpion Tail, Snake Skin, Bat Wing, etc.
The common supplies you need are: Flour, Sugar, Water, Milk and Egg.
The optional ingredients are: Cinnamon, Pecans, Grapes, Cherries and
Banana.
You can find a bucket of water laying around the farm shop or buy one
in the Provisioner Shop. You can buy a milk from a Dairy Farm (there is
one in Josody) and an egg there as well. You can also find a chicken
and double click on it to make it drop an egg, but sometimes it won't.
Most of the items listed above can be bought in Provisioner Shop by the
way.
To start cooking, you'll need an empty measuring cup, empty mixing bowl,
mixing spoon, an oven and a knife (for cakes).
Here are the list of foods you can make (don't forget to mix them before
roasting them into a fine food). To mix the supplies, double click each
one from left to right, use the measuring cup first for those that needed
to be measured and then double click again to use them in the bowl.
For the ingredients like a banana, you may sometimes fail to use it,
double click on that ingredient again and use it in the bowl after you
mix the other supplies.
After you are done mixing them, go to a nearby oven and start roasting
it away! Sometimes you will fail to cook.

Farming
Get a shovel and seeds like pecans or grapes and go to a farmland region
in your town. Double-click on your shovel to dig a hole and sometimes you
will fail to dig one. After you have dug a hole, double click on the
seed and then put it in the hole to start planting.
You can choose from Apple, Banana, Cherry, Lemon, Lime, and Pecans.
Anyway, there are four stages of crops and they go from dirt stage,
then sprout, young, and finally adult stage. This may take a while and
once your crops has developed into adult stage, you can pick seeds off
from the tree and plant more crops!
Milling is also part of farming and you'll need a Farm Scythe and you
need to be in a room with a mill. You can only mill wheat, cinnamon,
flour, and sugar. To begin milling, double click on the item I listed
above and use it on the mill to being milling.
---------------------------------------
Healing
You will be doing this a lot of time. If your HP bar is flashing red,
use one of the three healing potions. The three healing potions are
Minor Healing Potion (+25), Healing Potion (+100) and Greater Healing
Potion (+400). There is also a bandage, but it is slow and there is
a new skill for this type of healing.
A slower way to heal is to use bandage. You can go to where the Mummies
lurks, they drop a good amount of bandage for you to just sit and heal.
Bloodroot is another option.
There are special healing potions like Cure Poison Potion and Cure
Disease Potion that can cure you if you are poisoned or diseased.
If your stamina or hunger is low, you can heal it by roasting a meat
at the pub or buy some food there if you feel like wasting golds.

Leathercrafting
First of all, you'll need a skinning knife and you need to use the knife
on a dead animal. You will either succeed at getting a skin or not.
Next, go to the leathercraft shop and look for a tanning vat inside.
Double click on the skin and use it in the tanning vat. If you succeed
in getting a leather, head over to the table.
Next you will need leathercrafting tools and double click on the tools
then use it on the leather. A menu will pop up, pick an item you want
to make, don't worry, more items will show up once you improve your
leathercrafting skills.

Lumberjacking and Woodworking
Want to be like Paul Bunyan? Buy an axe (Lumberjack Axe) from a Wood Shop
and the only trees you can chop down are outside the town area but don't
go out too far.
To begin chopping, double click on the axe and your mouse icon will
turn into a blipping dot. Make sure you are standing next to a tree
doing this and click around the base of the tree to begin chopping.
You will get one of the following two messages:
"You find no useful material"
"You have chopped some lumbers"
Go to another tree if you get the first message. Once you get enough
lumbers (if your weight is critical), purchase a saw from a Wood Shop
or Provisioner Shop and then double click on the saw. Use the saw on
the lumbers and you will get one of the following three messages:
"You destroyed some of your lumbers"
"You destroyed all of your lumbers"
"You have crafted the lumber into planks"
Use the saw again on the remaining lumbers if you get the first one,
and chop down more trees to get more lumbers if you get the second
message. If you made some planks, purchase the Carpenter's Tools at
the Wood or Provisioner Shop.
Double click on the Carpenter's Tools and use it on the planks to begin
woodworking. A menu will pop up and you will be given an item to craft
the planks into, more items will appear once you improve your woodworking
skills.

Tailoring
First thing you need to do is to turn raw materials on a spinning wheel
into string, thread, yarn or twine. Next, turn cotton into string, turn
raw silk into silk thread, turn wool into woolen yarn and turn malacinth
flax into malacinth twine.
Next step is weaving. You need to turn strings and threads into cloth and
fabrics using a loom. And then turn string into cloth, turn silk thread
into silk cloth, turn woolen yarn into woolen fabric and turn malacinth
twine into malacinth fabric
Finally, the last skill is sewing. Buy a scissor and they are used on
cloth and fabric to turn them into clothes. Cloth turns into cloth
clothes (cap, gloves, pants, tunic, and dress), Wool Fabric turns into
woolen clothes (cap, gloves, patns, tunic, dress, robe). Silk Cloth turns
into Silk clothes (cap, gloves, pants, tunic, dress, robe, and sash). And
Malacinth Fabric is turned into magical clothes such as magic caps,
magic tunic, magic pants, magic cloth gloves, and mystic robe.
Cotton comes from growing cotton plants. Raw silk can also be obtained
from spiders and other monsters. Wool is obtained from sheep. And
Malacinth Flax comes from a magical plant that players can grow.
If you have a foraging skill of 25 or higher, a forager has a chance to
obtain a magical plant seed called Malacinth. Malacinth seeds grow into
Malacinth Trees when planted with agricultural planting skill of 30 or
higher. Malacinth trees can be harvested of Malacinth Flax. Harvesting
will give no seeds.

Magery
First, you'll need a mage staff like an Apprentice Wand, Mage Blade,
Iron Wand, Mage Staff, or Staff of Power (for high leveled mage) to
and some runes to start of with.
There are several runes out there like Body, Mind, Soul, Distance,
Nature, Harm, and Restoration.
To enchant the weapon, equip the staff first and then click on the
wand icon at the right corner of your screen to bring up a screen.
Click on the wand and then click on a rune to get ready to cast a
spell. Players can tell if you are casting a good or a bad rune
by looking at the aura around you. The red aura means that you
are going to cast a damaging spell and the green means heal.

Quests
==============================================================================
Archery
Location: Lotor's Castle
Find the Weapons Shop and talk to Klaresh inside. He is from Parian, so
welcome him to Krythan first. Ask him about Parian and tell him that you
would like to become an archer. He will send you to find Giltroy, who
is one of the finest bow crafters on the land.
Giltroy is living in Vrethpool and that is way down southeast from
New Korelth. Take the path to the south (the path that goes down to
the south WEST of New Korelth, not south from New Korelth) and you'll
have to go through a dangerous path full of skeletons, black deaths,
ogres and others until you reach the town of Vrethpool. Go around the
east wall and look for a small "window" and then go through it to find
a secret room with Giltroy inside. Talk to him and ask him why he is
so rude and mean and then ask about Motherland. Tell him that you don't
like greed and then ask about the bow. He needs you to find 12 planks
for him.
Go to the provisioner shop here in Vrethpool and buy a Lumberjack Axe
and a Saw. Start chopping down some trees with the axe and then use the
saw on the lumbers to make a plank. When you have 12 planks, go back to
where Giltroy is and give him the 12 planks. He will then ask for a Blue
Gem (Pearl). The Provisioner Shop may have one, if not... kill some
enemies like a Warg for it. Once you get the Pearl, head back to Giltroy
and give the pearl to him. He then will ask for a blue string.
You can get the blue string off from Lyndsay who is the lady hanging out
inside Varg and yes, thats a very long walk but the blue string is rare.
Ask Lyndsay for a blue string once you get to Varg and then come all the
back to Vrethpool and give the blue string to Giltroy. He will say that
his hands aren't that good enough to string the bow and you have to find
someone way north to do it for you.
Giltroy is talking about Sir Robin (a thief) inside one of the far west
houses up in Jeel. So, take another long hike up to Jeel with the Unstrung
Giltroy Bow in your hand. Once you arrive in Jeel, talk to Sir Robin
and have him work on the bow for you. Now that the bow is finally made,
head back to Lotor's Castle and give the new bow to Klaresh and he will
be happy. You will receive 60,000 bow experience point for this and some
experience points added to your quest experience.
---------------------------------------
Axe Quest
Location: Varg
Find the Government Hall in Varg and go around the outside right wall to
the back part of Varg and go to the left until you find Hungry Jack.
Talk to Hungry Jack about the Axe Master and he will give you an axe.
He will teach you how to use the axe after you kill 20 evil monsters.
Leave Varg by going southeast in the woods and look for low leveled
monsters like bats or snakes until you kill a total of 20 with your
axe. After you kill 20 enemies, head back to where Hungry Jack is and
you will be given 14,000 axe experience points for doing this.
---------------------------------------
Chlera Quest
Chlera is a town in the middle of Battle Plains, it is southwest of
Parian and west of Krog. From Parian, go west and run by the portal
through the Minotaur Plains and by the Emporium Abbey. There is a
bridge you can cross south of the abbey and follow the road south and
west to Chlera. You can also get there from Josody followith the road
south and east and travel east then south across the Battle Plains.
Not far east of Chlera is a thief named Enderic and he can let you in
a secret if you have 20,000 gold on you. Find him and talk to him to
start the quest:
Click "Yes" if you have the 20,000 gold to give to him. He will let
you in on a little secret of the hidden city if you kill 50 Ettins for
him. The closest Ettins spawn is just south and a little bit to the
east of Chlera. You'll most likely to be in level 40 and above to do
this quest or you can bring a healer with you.
After you have killed 50 Ettins, run back to where Enderic is and
he will tell you of a cave north of Desprail. This is the cave that
leads to spawns of different type of mobs, but deeper down the cave
leads to another area called Badlands. You don't want to go in Badlands
alone by the way unless you are level 80 and above.
Anyway, Enderic will give you a special power that lets you pull the
switch to open the cell doors to the underground cave called Badlands
Cave.
---------------------------------------
Guild Deed Quest
This quest is long, long, long! It starts in the cave northeast of Varg
and you will have to go through 4 books and end up in the abbey to
complete it. By the way, you have to be at least level 20 base experience
to be able to start.
Anyway, head to Varg and go northeast past the little lake and go north
a little bit. You will find the entrance to the guildmaster's cave
tucked in the corner. I hope you bring a torch or a Lamp of Isos with
you when you enter. Go left until you can't go no more and then go up
a little bit. On the left side you will spot an open pathway with tiled
ground, go left on that and find the ladder in here.
Once on ground, go right and through the far right door and inside you
will find an NPC named Marmodrak or something. Speak to him and tell him
that you are seeking the guildmaster, Holendar, to start the quest.
--1st Book:
Your first destination is Jeel. Once there, go into the inn, and go to
the top-right room. Speak to the man in the bed until he finally goes to
sleep. Nudge him once he does. Keep doing this at three or four second
each time. He will tell you numbers of clues.
Go east to the Krypt of Kargoth in the middle of the woods. From the
ladder, go down through a couple doors, and through the secret wall on
the right side of the room.
After cutting your way through Kargoth and his men, follow the top wall
of the cave all the way around. Keep going, keeping your eyes peeled for
some strong monsters, any one of which can ruin your day if you aren't
a high leveled player.
If you stick to the top wall as it twists around, you will eventually
find a wall switch. Explore a bit to the south before throwing the
switch, and locate the door to the south west.
Go back to the wall switch, and throw it. Run to the door quickly before
it closes. Double click the chest inside to open the next door. Go
through, and read the book you find, and recieve 20,000 exp pool. There
is another switch on the wall that will allow you to get back out.
Leave the crypt, and return to the guild ruins to continue the quest.
--2nd Book:
This book is destinated in the magic shop in Hothbra. There is a trap
door against the back wall on the floor. Go down this, and you'll be
in a cave. There is a blood fountain near a pile of rubbles. Double
click the red fountain, and you'll be teleported to the other side of
the bridge.
Once here, find the Ghost NPC in the top room. Speak to him about his
leader, Talazar, but don't tell him Talazar has turned evil.
Once he sends you on your way, run to the door in the middle of the left
vertical corridor, go in and click the fountain. Now, run to the door in
the middle of the right vertical corridor, and click that fountain. Then,
run to the door at the top-left and click the fountain in there. Run to
the door at the bottom-left and click another fountain, then run to the
bottom right door, click the last fountain, and go through the door
nearby to find the big red book.
If you take too long to get between the fountains, you'll be sent back
on the other side of the rubbles and will have to start over.
When you're done, run back to the Ruins to get the commission for the
third book.
--3rd Book:
This book is the hardest of them all. It begins in the Valley of the
Giants west of North Parian. Way up in the northwest corner against
the mountains beyond the woods is the book temple. There is a book
on a pedestral in the middle and eight off-color tiles. This is where
you'll need helpers. Get your eight assitants (None can be in guilds for
this) to stand on the eight off-color tiles.
Put those players with the most HP near the north exit of the temple,
and have people wear fire resistant armor if possible. Don't worry about
losing items. If you die, you keep everything on you. However, if one
person dies, you all die.
When you are all ready, double click the book in the middle, and select
"Perform the Ritual," and have everybody run north. Dodge the big spawn
of Horned Devils and run through the small gap in between the mountains.
Have one person run to the right and another to the left of the castle.
At the back are switches for each of them to flip which open the door
to get inside the castle itself.
Inside, get one person into each of the cells. Meanwhile, you go through
to the room at the top. Read the book here, and speak the words. Double
click the pedestral in the middle.
Outside, this will light the magic forge. You'll see a set of torches.
Now here is what you do....
Outside, your helpers will have four torches. Have them light pairs of
them in order (1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-3, 2-3, 3-4). When the torch corresponding
to their cell lights up, run down and tell them to stop.
Once you have all the torches lit, go through into the final room, and
read the book. Make sure nobody changes the torches again.
Return to the guild ruins, and be prepared for the final test.
--4th Book:
Head about directly south of New Korelth to the coast. There is a
peninsula with an assortemnt of fire elemental monsters like Imps,
Hellhounds and Talazarian Warriors. At the very end of the penninsula is
a small ruins with a teleporter.
Go through, and you'll be on Talazar's Island or Hell for short. Head
south, and skirt to the west of the Minions of Talazar Stronghold.
Once you pass this building, and pass through the small valley, watch out.
Strong monsters spawn here like Minions, Horned Devils, Hellspawns and
sometimes the strong Demons. Head to the west, and follow the mountains
until you come to a cave, just east of the passage up to Talazar's
Castle.
Once inside, you'll have to go through a maze. Do so by going right,
down, up, left, up, right, down and finally up.
Read the book, and return to the guild ruins.
--Finding Holendar
From Parian, exit to the south, and follow the mountains to the east to
Emperium Abbey. Double click the blood fountin on the island in the
middle.
Talk to Father Gweedo in the top right room, who tells you the fountain
turned to blood when Talazar attacked. Find Brother Timothy in the lower
left room, who says you cannot see Holendar until it runs clean again.
Speak Brother Nicholas and remember what Nicholas says, then go to Brother
James in the room below and tell this to him. Have him translate it for
you.
Finally, talk to brother Timothy, and he will teleport you to Holendar.
Now, talk to Holendar, and drop your gold on him if you wish to purchase
a deed.
Congratulations. You're a guild leader.
---------------------------------------
Item Identification Quest
Find this hut on the coast west of the portal (back to Josody) that is
west from New Korelth. Look for a man named Tallen'im and then head in
on in his house. Take a look at the Loop and the Twig at the back of
his house. Tallen'im will give you a paper and he needs you to go
identify the item for him.
There are only two items and that means only two people out on the land
of Krythan know those items. One of the people is in Vrethpool and her
name is Christine. Talk to Christine in Vrethpool and she will recognize
the loop. The other person is Xavier and he is hidden behind the wall
behind the bank in Hothbra. Once you get them both items identified, head
back to Tallen'im and give him the paper back (just double-click on the
twing and loop again if you can't give the paper back to him).
---------------------------------------
Large Blade Quest
Location: Varg
Look for a man named Raglnak behind the Varg Bank. He will tell you
something about evil on the land, agree with him and he will give
you a practice sword. You need to kill a Snake, Kobold and an Orc.
You can find a snake on the path east of Varg. I do not know of the
nearest Kobold and Orc spawn but you can find some Kobolds in the
woods north of New Korelth and an Orc there too. After you kill all
three, return the sword to Raglnak and he will raise your Large Blade
skill.
---------------------------------------
Lumberjack Quest
Location: East of New Korelth Spawngate
This isn't a hard quest at all really. There is a Spawn Point if you
take the path south from New Korelth and to the east of the Spawn Gate
is an open field. Look for a NPC named Mukk who can be found in the
southwest corner of the field. If he isn't there, that means some
rude enemy killed him. Wait for him to respawn in the area after about
a while. Talk to him and he will give you lumbers to give to his wife in
Hothbra.
Go all the way up to Hothbra and at the west entrance/exit, go through
the door to get inside the castle's wall around the south end of the
town. Find a female NPC named Renn and give her the firewood that Mukk
gave you and you will receive plenty of exp. points. Renn will give you
Mukk's lunch that you have to go all the way back down to where Mukk is
and give him his lunch. He will then raise your lumberjacking skill.
---------------------------------------
Mining
Location: Flagata Mine
Head to New Korelth, bank everything and go straight north to the
nearest mountain you see on your map. On the southern side of the
mountain is the entrance to Flagata Mine. However, there is another
entrance, just go to the inn in New Korelth and go through the upper
left door and walk through the wall in the north. You will find a
trap door here, walk into it.
Find Yokoun who is in the room southwest from the secret trap door
and south and southwest from the cave entrance/exit. Talk to him
and he will tell you about what happened to him and the monsters
who blinded him. You will have to go to this spot where it happened
to him and mine an ore for him.
Buy a pickaxe from the blacksmith shop or provisioneer shop and
head up to Lotor's Castle. The castle is located northwest from
New Korelth, just follow the road west and north from here.
Just south from Lotor's Castle is a small pass in between the
mountains. There are three mountains you can mine from in this pass,
but you won't go in that easy. This is home to the Ettins and rarely
a Storm Giant in the mix. All you have to do is walk in and pick a spot
on one of the mountains and mine for an ore. Dodge the big monsters here</pre><pre id="faqspan-3">
and after you have mined an ore, get out and head back to where you
found Yokoun. He will give you a new pickaxe for doing this for him and
2,000 experience pool.

Polearm
Location: Island north of Jeel
Equip yourself with a torch or a Lamp of Isos and purchase a Cure Poison
Potion before heading in this cave north of Jeel. If you can't find this
cave, follow the path to the east until you reach a teleporter but don't
go in the teleporter. From the teleporter, go west until you find a lone
mountain sitting in the middle of the wooden area. Head inside and equip
the torch or the lamp and walk through the cave until you find the exit.
You will run into bats, spiders, skeletons, termigon workers and termigon
warriors.
Follow the winding path to the north until you find another lit area
and the exit. You will find yourself on an island north from Jeel.
Go north a little bit until you find a house, head inside and talk to
the man inside. He has been poisoned by a snake, feed him the Cure Poison
Potion and then talk to him again. Ask him about the poles and that you
want to learn how to use polearms. He marked the three leaders on your
forearms and you have to meet the leader of each city.
The three leaders are the mayor of Jeel, mayor of Varg and King Lotor
of Lotor's Castle. Visit each one and after you visited all three leaders,
head back to the cave and go through it until you reach that island again
and talk to the guy. He will raise your polearm experience and 2000
experience points for curing him from poison.
---------------------------------------
Small Blade Quest
Location: Jeel
Find the Pub (Alfred's Ration Shop and Pub) located just to the north of
the Spawn Point in the middle of Jeel. Talk to Captain Chugga inside and
he will tell you about his ship. Ask him if the ship is seaworthy and
he'll slap your back and chuckle at you but he is drunk at the moment.
He will teach you how to use the Small Blade if you pay him 500 gold.
Pay him and then just watch away until you click on "continue".
You will receive 2000 small blade experience points for doing nothing
but paying golds.

Bestiaries
==============================================================================
Here are all of the enemies in the game and I have listed their name and
their level. I tried to list their exact spawn locations, how much gold they
drop and what equipments or items they drop as well.
If you want to know where they spawn or where you'll frequently see them, I
have labeled each town below the monster lists and the direction where you'll
catch them at.
You should know what the keywords in the "Where" section are. N being north,
S being south, SW being southwest, etc.
To know what each monster drop, here is the URL:

Weapons and Armors
==============================================================================
You can find weapons or armors after you slay an enemy or buy one in the
shop. You find better weapons if an enemy drop them that you won't find in
stores like an Ettin. They can drop up to +3 in weapon if you are that
skilled and strong enough to kill one. Here are the list of all of the weapons
and armors available in the game and they are alphabetilized by their class
name.
Oh, and MinSkLvl for each weapon class is abbreviated for Minimum Skill Level
and in order to hold that weapon, you have to have the exact same number of
skill level or higher to hold it. For example, if you want to hold an
Hatchet +5, your Axe skill have to be at the minimum of 31 to hold it and
if you are below 31 in skill, you can't hold it.

Summary:
Before Chlera was in development stage, Parian was the people's town. It is
the center to everywhere before Battle Plains was accessible. The city is
good for creating events and hellspawn raiding. It is also the location for
the Temple of Isos, one of the Gods.
Just to the northwest of the town is a land where giants roamed, thust called
the Valley of Giants (VoG) and a lair that only belongs to Storm Giants (SGL).
You will also find the temple where the 3rd book is located in the long guild
quest.
To the east of Parian out of East Parian Bank (EPB) you will find a small
Astari Cave along the first mountain. As you go through in between the
mountain to the north you will find a cave to Darushk on one mountain in the
middle of the forest, one of the several criminal towns in the game. To the
west is Glutton Lake where you will find many Gluttons around the body of
water. Far north as you travel you will find some nice spawn of Death Tyrants,
Minotaurs, and Frost Trolls in that order.
To the south you find a road leading to the Parian/Redwake portal to the
east after the wooden bridge. Stay on the road all the way south and west
will take you to Arda.

Summary:
Dargoth Redwake built this town in the very far northwestern corner of the
Elfish land. Redwake did something that wasn't good that made this town evil
away from all the other good elf towns where no divine people can pay to
visit.
Straight east of Redwake is a portal and stepping into it will take you on
the very far east side of Mainland, just southeast of Parian. Going south
will only make you meet the mountains and going west and north will you see
nothing but water.
The Termigon family can be found just a little to the southeast of that
portal in the mountain. Watch out for the queens! To the northeast you will
run into nasty, sweaty, overweight humans called the Gluttons. As you
proceed onto your journey north and east of where the Gluttons are is a fort
of where thieves and fighters and dark mages hang out at, thus called Thief
Fort.

Game RP Story
==============================================================================
I created a little section in this FAQ because there are some history to
the game such as Rune War and the histories of the Gods. I will try and find
most of the stories off some bookstand or talking to NPCs in town.
Book of Creation-----------------------
In the beginning, the sky contained nothing but the clouds and the gods.
And the gods said to the clouds, 'We are the gods, and you shall obey us.'
Veldan, god of Earth, said, 'Cloud, become a vast landscape.' And a cloud
became a vast landscape.
Isos, god of Light, said to another cloud, 'Glow with inner light and
illuminate Veldan's landscape to delight us.' And the cloud shone like a
sun shining upon the landscape of cloud.
Agon, god of Darkness, said, 'Landscape, grow deep caverns to shade us.'
And the landscape grew deep shadowed caverns. Within this cold darkness there
formed sparkling crystals of ice.
Ulthien, goddess of Life, commanded other clouds. 'Take upon yourselves the
semblance of living beings, and dwell upon Veldan's land.' And it was so.
Sabal, goddess of Chaos, said, 'Dark clouds, you shall become warlike
creatures, contending with the men of Ulthien.' And Agon's shadowed clouds
obeyed her.
Arna, goddess of Order, commanded Ulthien's cloud men to array themselves
for battle.
And all the other gods commanded the clouds, each god according to their
own desires.
Thus for eons the gods amused themselves by forming shapes from the clouds
of the sky. Cloud mountains stood majestic, then broke apart in the wind.
Suns of glowing clouds flared and faded. Fleets of cloud ships carried
armies of cloud soldiers to war -- only to melt away like fog before the new
sun. Each in turn quickly passed away, and each in turn the gods created
anew. Yet the ice crystals did not pass away, but became the stars which
grew in number with each new cycle of creation.
After long ages of this sport, the gods grew discontent. Veldan came to feel
the loss of each cloud land he created. Isos yearned to make a light that
would shine forever, while Agon desired perpetual shadow. Ulthien cried to
see each of her cloud children pass away. Sabal dreamed of breaking the
steady cycle of creation, while Arna longed for all that they made to linger
a while longer. And all the gods were displeased.
And the gods conferred, saying, 'It is not good that our commands should
last only as long as a cloud.'
Veldan, god of Earth, said, 'The stars of ice alone endure.'
Isos, god of Light, said, 'The stars of ice reflect all that we create.'
Sabal, goddess of Chaos, said, 'No two stars of ice are alike.'
Agon, god of Darkness, said, 'The stars of ice are weak, and cannot threaten
us.'
Arna, goddess of Order, said, 'Let us organize the stars to do our bidding.'
Ulthien, goddess of Life, said, 'Stars of ice, live and hear our commands!'
Kuthos, god of Runes, said, 'Let the stars of ice be runes, and let the
runes reflect the words of our commands.' And the stars became runes and the
runes reflected the words of the gods.
And so did the gods create the world and with the runes make their creations
everlasting.

Book of Ulthien------------------------
Long ago, the orcs were forced to march to the Plains of Kazun from deep
under the land. The struggle to break free from the iron grip of the Rune
Warriors was aided by the Goddess of Life. Ulthien led our way, and aided
our people when they were most in need.
We found our City of Krog in the foothills of the Medosk Mountains. Game
and water were plentiful, and the orc people prospered... As long as Ulthien,
Goddess of Life, is honored, the people of Krog will prosper and grow.

Book of Veldan-------------------------
In the beginning there were the gods and the greatest of these was Veldan,
god of Earth. Veldan in his wisdom created the very land we stand on from
the essence of the insubstantial clouds.
Veldan then descended onto the land, to the great stone in Silvest, to
survey all that he had created, and when he saw the fruits of his labours,
he was content.
Our land was formed from the wisdom, the artistry, and the generosity of
Veldan, and we do give thanks daily unto him.

Keleran's Journal----------------------
Over the past few days of travels, my companion Galeron and I have picked up
a few magical artifacts from distant lands. I have found these artifacts,
called Runes by the locals, that have proven useful in many situations.
Day 7 - We have traveled for many days since we left the town of Parian. I
had almost given up hope of finding shelther from an approaching storm when
we discovered a small dwelling inhabited by the alchemist named Jai. This
kind person have us shelter, food, and an item called a Mage Staff. He
directed me to use the staff with a combination of the runes I had been
given for different results.
Day 8 - Upon crossing the land of the undead, Galeron was attacked by a
warrior of the afterlife. He needed a healer but we were too far away. After
many combinations, I discovered when using the Rune of Body along with a
mysterious Rune that glows green with divinity, my staff had magical healing
properties that adied us in our journey.
Day 9 - We made camp in a secluded area of this dead land, and we have not
had food in almost 2 days. I fear Galeron may not make it another.
Day 9 continued - At last, by using the Rune of Body I was able to nourish
our weary party so that we may continue with our travels.
Day 10 - The last few hours have been exciting, we have discovered a creature
called a Mummy. This creature, some kind of undead human or elf, fought
fiercely and took almost all the energy we had, yet it could not stand
against the new magic I discovered when using the Runes of Nature, Distance
and Harm. After a large bolt of lightning fell from the sky, the Mummy fell
dead.
Day 12 - We have found a way out of the feared dead lands and are heading
south in hopes to find other areas to rest and gather supplies.
Day 12 continued - Galeron has been looking ill for the past two valleys.
I think perhaps the Mummy has inflicted some type of poison during the
skirmish. What luck! By using the Rune of Nature and the green Rune of Good,
I was able to reduce the poison that was endangering his life.
Day 13 - In hopes that we may soon approach a town, we have increased our
pace. By using the Soul Rune, I have been able to maintain our energy so that
we could keep up the steady pace to our destination.
Day 14 - I have unfortunately slain a small creature. It looked dangerous,
but I could not quite tell until after the confrontation that it meant us
no harm. That is odd; the green Rune of Good on my staff has now turned red.
Day 15 - In our last desperate attempt to flee past the hostile creatures of
the land, I ready my wand and use the Rune of Body along with the red rune of
Evil that is currently showing itself. After casting this spell, I notice
the creatures around me begin to slow down and become sluggish as if they
were dying of starvation.
Day 17 - We have made it! Our long journey has brought us to the next stop
in our quest. The people of Chlera have rushed out to greet us and to aid in
our arrival.

Meklor The Immovable-------------------
Meklor was once a powerful general in the Rune Army... He was slain
by the dark gods when his men retreated from the final Rune War
battle. His punishment was to remain behind in spirit form to guard
the rune gate for eternity.

The Writ of Agon-----------------------
Darkness existed before the making of the world, and it shall exist after
the world is destroyed.
To exist is to serve, and the bane of Agon are the Light Wielders. Hunt
them down, strike them where they live, and take their belongings. By doing
so, you serve Darkness, you serve Chaos, and your reward shall be to serve
Agon at his pleasure.
