01.) INTRODUCTION G0100
===============================================================================
Welcome to 'Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine' for the PC, released by
Himalaya Studios in 2006.
Himalaya Studios was founded by the same people from AGD Interactive, who have
released free Sierra game remakes such as King's Quest 1 and 2. This is their
first commercial release, hoping to give fans a classic adventure game with
the same look and feel.
Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy!
===============================================================================
02.) BASICS G0200
===============================================================================
When playing a game like this you would usually get the hang of it straight
away. For more information consult the manual that came on the game CD.
However, here are some tips that will help you quick-start into playing:
Press F1 to show the in-game help. This tells you the main shortcuts.
F5 is for saving, whereas F7 is for loading a previously saved game.
Ctrl+Q quits the game. All of the above shortcuts can also be found in the top
left corner of the screen.
Double click on your destination to run there instead of just walking. Press
ESC to skip to a destination while you walk, this works most of the time with a
few exceptions.
To see your inventory quickly, press the Tab key. Alternatively you can select
it from the menu in the upper right corner of the screen along with the action
commands. Even easier, click the middle mouse button, most mice have one these
days.
Cycle through the action commands with the right mouse button or select it from
the top right corner.
Action Icons:
`````````````
All icons have a hotspot which is used to select the interactive object. Have a
closer look and you will know what I mean.
Hand Take, Open, Interact (e.g. climb)
Mouth Talk
Glasses Look, Investigate
Cursor Walk (changes into EXIT when you can go to another area)
After obtaining an item or taking something out from your inventory, it also
becomes of the cursor icons to cycle through.
===============================================================================
03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300
===============================================================================
Act 1: Dude, Where's Your Train?
````````````````````````````````
Talk to the train station master, then show him the train tickets to get a
refund. Go west to the cemetery. Pick up the Daffodil Flower near the center
and look into the hole on the left side. Take the Human Bone from inside.
Return east and go north to town.
Walk west and enter Koko's store. Take the map from the shelf as well as the
Cost Mo' Magazine. Use the money pouch on Koko to purchase an Empty Glass
Flask.
Leave and walk west again to pick up some rocks. Continue west once more and
grab the Pointy Stick. Return one screen and go north twice, then west. Take
the Damaged Horseshoe. For quicker access later in the game, continue west to
the Gorge so it shows up on your map. Use the map to return to town.
Enter Kevin's Saloon. A scene automatically takes over and you get a Room Key
for five dollars. After the scene, take the Matchbook from the bar and the
Mustard from the table. Interact with the drink menu and read the Tequila bit
to order one. Pick up the Agave Worm from the floor afterwards (you need to
move aside a bit first). Sit on the stool again and chat with Kevin. You will
receive a Flyer. Continue talking about everything else if you wish. Take the
cigarette butts from the ashtray underneath the dartboard. Go up through the
door and try to use the Room Key with the door there. Afterwards talk to Bill,
the piano player and then look at the piano to see why it plays off. Attempt to
take the key and talk to him until he wants a 'Blazin' Kev'. Sit on the bar
stool and talk to Kevin. You have to make the drink yourself by using the
following ingredients:
B Bourbon
L Lemon Juice
A Absinthe
Z Zedoary
I Irish Cream
N Nutmeg
K Kirsch
E Eggnog
V Vodka
Use the matches on the drink before it is too late, else you have to re-do the
entire drink. In your inventory, combine the rocks with the Blazin' Kev to get
Blazin' Kev On The Rocks, and give this to Bill. While he is drinking, take the
Piano Key. Use it on the door upstairs as before. Search the bed for a Broken
Whip. Leave the saloon.
Talk to the boy in front of the green house twice to get the challenge of
taking down his daddy's flag. Go north between Koko's store and the green house
(Mayor's House). Wash the bone in the fountain. Continue west and talk to Bubba
twice. He wants some paperwork and hard evidence before taking down the flag.
Go into the Mayor's house. Read the book near the clock, then scribble in it.
Also do not take a Shotgun Shell from above the fireplace. Give Bubba the Page
as well as the Human Bone. Use the money pouch so he lowers the flag. Show the
Broken Horseshoe to Bubba. When he leaves to check for a new one, squirt
mustard on the flag. Follow him out and take the flag near the fountain.
Leave town at the west side and go north twice. Pin the Red Flag to the cactus
with some flower atop. Attempt to pluck the flowers, then open the bullpen.
Pick up the Saguaro Bloom Flower that is on the ground and return to the
Saloon. Give the flower to Rita.
Act 2: Enemy of the Date
````````````````````````
Exit the Saloon and go to Bubba's. Pick up the hammer, pet the horse for some
Lengthy Horse Hair. Talk to Antonio on the way back, you only have to do one
time but you can continue if you are interested. Back at the Saloon, sit on the
stool and chat with Rita twice. Now you need a ride, but let's do other things
first.
Leave town at the west side. Go north twice, west and south (a little hard to
find the Exit sign for south). Use the hammer on the cactus to get a Barrel-
hook Needle. Go back to the bullpen and continue east to the Oasis. Combine the
Broken Whip with the Lengthy Horse Hair, then combine this with the Barrel-hook
Needle. Add the Agave Worm to all this and start fishing in the pond.
Walk west, south, east twice and pick up a Cow Bone. Continue along this path,
taking the northwest path when giving the choice. Grab some of the Aloe Vera
Leaf and go back, this time taking the northeast path. Take one of the Oleander
Flower on the left. Go up the path, then east and south.
Lure the bear away with the fish. Attempt to take the trophy, then use the
hammer on the animal with the red bandana. You have to play a short mini-game
as you would at a fair, just hit the thing with the bandana three times and
collect your glasses. Pick up the Bear Claw. To make travels easier later, go
north and one screen left to have the Indian Plateau on your map.
Use your map to return to the Oasis. Walk west twice and then north. Combine
the Hookless Fishing Rod with the Bear Claw and the Prickly Pear Fruit on the
other side.
Go to Bubba and talk to him. The test is just for fun so answer whatever you
please. Use the money pouch to rent the horse. Use the combination of the
Fishing Pole & Pear Fruit on the mule to get it moving. Ride all the way to the
east side of town, past the post office. Open the gate and throw the Cow Bone
to the entrance to get rid of the dog. Knock on the door.
Act 3: Shallow Al
`````````````````
Warp to the Oasis to meet Pammy. After a few talks sunscreen will come up. Fill
the Empty Bottle with water. Return to town and enter Koko's. Ask about
sunscreen, then give him the Aloe Vera. Back at the Oasis, rub the Sunscreen
Bottle on Pammy. Warp to the Indian Plateau and go north and east. Pour water
on the yellow flowers and then collect some fragrance with the Sunscreen Bottle.
Back at the Oasis, attempt to use it on Pammy once more. Back in town, go north
towards Bubba's house but enter the mansion with the fountain. Use the money
pouch to get some lube at the back and add it into the Sunscreen Bottle. Once
again, try to use on Pammy at the Oasis. At Bubba's, use the Sunscreen Bottle
with the barrels next to him. Finally, use it on Pammy back at the Oasis.
Act 4: The Torn Identity
````````````````````````
Enter the Hospitality House and knock on the door with the bull. Talk to Lou.
Leave and enter the door next to it. You will be looking out of the window. Use
the pointy stick on the blue dress hanging outside.
Enter the post office at the west side of town. Use the Low Co' Magazine on
yourself to read it, finding a Make-Up Ad inside. Talk to Rick at the counter,
then give him the Make-Up Ad. Use the Ad on the nearby 'Out' slot.
Run south to the train station. Talk to the FedUp delivery man. Pick up your
package. Talk to the cross-dresser twice, then give him/her the hammer.
At the Oasis, grab two of Pammy's melons.
Enter Lou's mansion and walk into the dressing room to change automatically.
Enter Lou's office to get accepted. Use the Room Key on room 3. In there, use
the bed to start working. Follow his instructions afterwards. When he is
finished, go through his clothes lying on the floor. Leave the room and walk
into the dressing room to change back. Enter Lou's office to get paid.
Back at the Saloon, give Rita Antonio's Business Card.
Act 5: Free Billy
`````````````````
Enter the Sheriff's office. Talk to the Sheriff three times until he mentions
the gallows. Try and talk to the Indian, then the Sheriff again. Return to the
Saloon and talk to Bill until he goes to hang himself. Go to the gallows and
use the Matchbook on the ropes around it. Enter the Sheriff's office and walk
towards the Sheriff. Take the keys hanging on the wall and unlock the cell.
Give the Indian the Drag Costume so he can leave. Exit (you will automatically
put the key back) and pick up the rope on the ground.
Act 6: Indian, a Stone, and the Last Town Raid
``````````````````````````````````````````````
If you have been following this walkthrough then you already have the Indian
Plateau on the your map. If not, read up on how to get there.
Attempt to walk southeast only to get shot at. Talk to the Indians to give them
the password. Walk underneath the cliff and use the rope on the rock next to
the Indians. Go east to the village. Enter the large tent in the back to find
the chief. Talk to him until he wants some cocoa acid water. Press the EXIT
button to leave. You have to climb down the rope again first.
Go north, east and north from the Indian plateau. Use the Deflated Doll on the
cactus with the nest. Run up the little higher area and throw the Rocks at the
nest. After five time you will hit it. Get the egg.
Back in town, enter Koko's. Talk to him about making some more Kola and he will
ask for the ingredients. Use the Indian Knife on the Shotgun Shell. Give the
Gunpowder to Koko, as well as the Prickly Pear Fruit, Cigarette Butts and
Speckled Bird Egg.
Return to the chief.
Act 7: The Exterminator - Rise of the Termites
``````````````````````````````````````````````
Leave the camp.
If you went there earlier, you can warp to the Gorge. Else you have to go there
the long way, all the way west from the Oasis. Use the Indian Knife on the tree
to get some shavings. Should your flask be full with water you can just pour it
on the ground.
In town, enter the Mayor's house. Use the Jar with Rotten Wood on the termites
at the left side. Outside, talk to the guy to get a closer look, then give him
the Termites. Pick up a stick of Dynamite.
Go to Rita's house, enter through the gate and knock on the door. Talk to Rita
to get inside. Take the flask and move the pillow. Pick up the page that fell
out from the journal. Write down these letters on a piece of paper.
Act 8: Bridges, Stones, Diaries
```````````````````````````````
Go to Bubba's Barnyard and feed the mule your Oleander Flower. Pick up the
Chest Key it spits out.
Back at the Gorge, use the Dynamite on the tree and then attempt to use the
detonator. Go over and re-place the dynamite stick and you will finally
succeed.
Walk to the cabin. Have another look at the Strange Letter again (use it on Al)
if you did not write down the letters. What you need to do is exchange each
letter with the one preceding four letters in the Roman alphabet. For example,
E becomes A, T -> P and so on. When you have the right combination, enter it
into the cabin door lock. Mine was OPENSESAME but it could be random.
Inside, take the shovel. Interact with the floorboard with a different color.
Look into the hole and use the Chest Key on it. Combine the Stone Half with the
Half Map Rubbing. When you leave you will automatically go to the X in the
desert.
Leave the area (you can only got to town at this time of night). Use the money
pouch on the food dispenser for some Wombat Chow. Walk east feed the wombat the
Wombat Chow. Pick it up while it eats. Return to the desert and use the wombat
on the sand. Use the hole it dug and follow the path to the mine.
Act 9: The Peraltos
```````````````````
Grab the Lantern on the ground and light it with a match. Interact with the
ropes on the elevator to descend. Go west one screen and take the pickaxe, then
return to the previous area. Walk east, north, east twice and fill the Empty
Flask with some tar from the pit. Return to the mine cart and use the tar on
the small wheel-looking thing behind it, which is the track switch. Now insert
the Pickaxe. Push the mine cart a few times until it falls off the tracks. Tie
the ropes to the end of the tracks to get down. Hold onto the cart to climb
over it and continue east. Use the Deflated Doll on the river and when you get
to the other side, quickly hold on to the ledge before the waterfall takes down
the doll with you on it. Continue north, pick up the extra tile and then
interact with the floor to start a sliding puzzle.
Not much help I can give you there. Trial and error should eventually complete
this. If you need help with sliding puzzles in general, the Internet has lots
of information on that. The picture has the scary eyes in the middle and a ring
around it. It is not hard to figure out where the pieces go. When you are done,
insert the last piece you picked up a moment ago.
Press the button and exit south. Climb down where the river was before and walk
left. After the scene, quickly enter the Stone Half into the statue's mouth
before you get shot.
In the next area you have to answer five questions in a row. If you get one
wrong you have to restart from the beginning. Here are the questions with
answers:
Q: A wise man knows that he knows...
A: Nothing
Q: Are you are virgin?
A: Yes
Q: Do you still live with your parents?
A: Yes

Q: What was killed by curiosity?

Q: Who brought the sacred gold to this place?
A: Aztecs
Q: Without glasses, you're as blind as a...
A: Bat
After the scene, attempt to open the door. Walk west along the southern area so
you are on the left side of the altar, next to the blazing flame. Take a step
closer to the lever and the skeleton will start going there. Slowly walk back
towards your original position, not too fast but also not too slow. You want
the skeleton to follow you around the southern side of the room while you run
to the right side behind the pillar. It can't shoot you there. When the
skeleton is far enough southeast, run over to the lever and pull it. After the
scene, show Rita's Flyer to the skeleton in order to get out.
Quickly run through the rooms and climb up the ladder, then up the steps before
the water starts flowing again. Go north into the room and pick up the Broken
Tile. Fix it up with tar and place it back into the floor. Press the button and
leave again, taking the river route west. Climb down the mine cart and pick up
the rope. Combine it with the Broken Pickaxe Head and throw this up on the
wall. Climb up and exit to the north twice. Follow around the path and quickly
use the Fishing Rod in the elevator mechanism. Run around underneath the
elevator so it starts rocking from one side to the other. Soon the elevator
will fall and you can grab the chest.
