Yuu Yuu Hakusho: Bakutou Ankoku Bujutsu Kai is a game for the Famicom, but it
is unique since it utilizes the Datach Joint ROM System accessory. Basically,
this device reads barcodes from special cards that come with the game, with
the playable character data being written onto these cards. This is the ONLY
way to play the game, since you must select a character by swiping its card!
Aside from that interesting bit of innovation, Yuu Yuu Hakusho is a simple 2D
fighting game. It is a lot of fun once you get used to the whole barcode
thing, so I would definitely recommend trying it out, if only to experience
a rare Famicom accessory!

Gameplay Modes
==============

Battle Mode (バトル モード): The main story-based gameplay mode.
Test Codes (コエンマの判決): Test your barcodes to see what you would get if
                           used in Battle Mode.

Battle Mode Overview
====================

When you pick Battle Mode, you will have the option of playing the single
player tournament (the first option), the VS Battle (against a computer or a
second human player), or Continue the tournament if you saved previously. In
all modes, you will go to a screen where you are prompted to scan the barcode
for the character/item you want to use.

In VS Battle, you can use any character you want, but in the single-player
tournament, you can only use certain ones, as listed below. Once you enter
your character, the battle will begin. The objective of course is to deplete
the HP of your opponent before they do the same to you. If you fall out of
the ring, you have 10 seconds to return to the ring or you lose (press A + B
repeatedly to get back in; this is affected by your HP as well). You can
perform special moves which cost SP, to cause added damage to your opponent
quickly.

In the single-player Battle Mode, your opponents are grouped together in
teams, and you fight them one at a time. In between battles, you can pick a
new character/item to use (you have to scan the barcode each time, in any
event). Anyway, the teams you face are:

Rokuyuukai Team (ロクユウカイチーム)
   Opponents: Rinku, Zeru, Chuu

Mashutoukai Team (マシュトウカイチーム)
   Opponents: Gama, Touya, Jin

Uraotogi Team (ウラオトギチーム)
   Opponents: Kuromo Motarou, Shishiwakamaru, Onjii

Toguro Team (トグロチーム)
   Opponents: Karasu, Masked Bui, Bui, Toguri Ani, Toguro Otouto 80%

Immediately after beating Toguro Otouto 80%, you will have to do battle with
Toguro Otouto 100%. Once you win, Battle Mode will be complete! You won't get
to pick a new character/item before that battle, so be prepared.

Items
=====

After you scan the barcode for your character, you will go to another screen
where you can scan an item card. This will further increase your character's
HP and/or SP by various amounts. If you don't want an item, simply hit the B
button at this point to continue, then press A to start the battle.

Barcode Resource
================

In this game, it is required that you have the cards to scan barcodes from in
order to select characters so you can even play the game. If you have the
actual cards, you can simply scan them when prompted and the game will read
them. If you are playing through other means, this site will provide the
barcode numbers you can manually input, as well as what character/item you
will receive (one line, no spaces):
