Welcome to 'Hissatsu Shigoto Nin' for the NES, released by Banpresto in 1990.
The guide uses Shift-JIS to display Japanese characters in .txt form. If you
cannot see them automatically and just see some garbled font, set your browser
encoding or file viewer manually. It is recommended that you view the file in a
fixed font such as Courier New as some of the tables with Shift-JIS will look
odd without it.
This game is a text adventure. To play you need to have advanced knowledge of
the Japanese language. Thus this walkthrough is intended for players who are
able to read and understand the text.

02.) BASICS G0200

Controls:
`````````
A button brings up the action menu and confirms action selections, B button
cancels commands. D-Pad moves the character around on the map and selects menu
choices. As for the most part this is all you have to do and it sounds as easy
as it is.
Display:
````````
The surroundings ar shown from a top-down view perspective. When you interact
with a person, which is what you do most of the time in this game, the display
shifts to a first person view. There will be a menu in the top left and the
character you are talking to has his or her name underneath. It is important to
know who you are talking to if you wish to follow the walkthrough.
Getting Started:
````````````````
Start new game (しごとはじめる).
Continue game (しごとのつづき). Save at the shrine gates that are available in
nearly all villages.
Message Speed (めっせーじ すぴーど). Pick one of the following:
Fast (はやい), Normal (ふつう), Slow (おそい)
Actions:
````````
There are only three choices for the main selection box when pressing A on the
main view:
はなす = Talk, Speak
しらべる = Examine, Look, Investigate
もちもの = Inventory (Show, Give)
During a conversation one can also きく = Ask/Inquire about something, or
おどす = Threaten to possibly get more information out of that person.

03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300

Prologue (序章): 疑惑なり

南町 (みなみちょう):

After the introduction, talk (はなす) to the girl Roku on the left (ろく) and
examine (しらべる) her. Quit the conversation (B button, I won't mention this
again in the future). Talk (はなす) to Heishichi in blue (へいしち). Finally,
talk (はなす) to Tanaka on the right (たなか), not the guy up on the ladder.
The passage is now open so you can leave the village via the south entrance and
go to the next village on the east side.
門前町 (もんぜんちょう):
````````````````````````
Walk up to the temple grounds in the northeast and speak (はなす) with the lady
with white hair (みょうこうに). Next talk (はなす) to Densuke in green next to
her (でんすけ). On the right of this bunch of people are three groups of trees.
Examine (しらべる) the top of these three, there is only one more northern then
the rest. You will know when you got the correct one from the reply. Return to
the previous village.
南町 (みなみちょう):
````````````````````
Enter the guards quarters (番 on top, the same building you started out in).
Talk (はなす) to Roku (ろく) on the left again, then show her your knife
(もちもの -> みせる -> でばぼうちょう) found in the trees. Show her your
tobacco pouch (もちもの -> みせる -> たばこいれ). A new village has opened up,
therefore leave this place and journey further east.
材木町 (ざいもくちょう):
````````````````````````
Enter the first house you see guarded by a dog. Walk up to the three guests in
a row and speak (はなす) with Oriku, the southern one (おりく). Afterwards talk
(はなす) to Hide (ひで) at the top of these three people. Finally, speak
(はなす) to Matsu (まつ) sitting across the table. Give the tobacco pouch to
him (もちもの -> つかう -> たばこいれ) so that he tags along. Return to the
first village.
南町 (みなみちょう):
````````````````````
Enter the guards quarters. Take one step forward and watch the sequence to
finish the prologue.

Chapter 2 (二章): 極楽浄土なり

南町 (みなみちょう):

Leave this building and enter the just north of here, crossing a small bridge
to get into the courtyard. Talk (はなす) to Tanaka (たなか) wearing green. Go
around the corridor and talk (はなす) to Imada (いまだ) guarding the door. Show
him the tobacco pipe (もちもの -> みせる -> きせる) so he steps aside. Talk
(はなす) to Mamura (まむら) inside the room and give him the pipe (もちもの ->
つかう -> きせる). Before leaving, speak (はなす) with Tanaka (たなか) again.
Travel to the far east village.
材木町 (ざいもくちょう):
````````````````````````
Enter the same building as before, the one guarded by the dog near the
entrance. Speak (はなす) with Samon (さもん) near the door. Next go up to the
lady at the right table, the one sitting at the left side if you are having
trouble seeing who is male and female with these graphics. Talk (はなす) to
Ryuu (りゅう) of course, then show her the poison needle (もちもの -> みせる ->
どくばり). Leave this place and enter the building adjacent to the right of
this one. Talk (はなす) to Enomoto (えのもと) inside. Back outside, enter the
house south of the bar and check (しらべる) the dog in here. When you leave
there will be a short scene. When you regain control, speak (はなす) with
Mamura (まむら) in front of you.
南町 (みなみちょう):
````````````````````
Back in the building at the northwest, talk (はなす) to Tanaka (たなか) wearing
green clothes in the first room and give him the pipe (もちもの -> つかう ->
ぱいぷ). Leave the village and travel to the station in the north.
関所 (せきしょ):
````````````````
Walk left and enter the tunnel. Go around the corridor until you reach another
set of stairs. As you bump into them you have to fight a ninja (かんざし).
たたかう = Attack
ぼうぎょ = Defend
かくれる = Hide
If you defend you take less damage, if you hide you do not take any. If you
hide and then attack the chances for a critical are very high, unless the
person defends or it misses completely. However, when you get hit while hiding
you are uncovered again, plus you lose that turn you could have defended in.
For a quick solution you just want to attack, most enemies are not tough enough
to warrant much of a stategy. After the battle, examine (しらべる) the stairs
for a Golden Hairpin. (I think this is a pun because the Ninja's name was
Kanzashi which means "hairpin" in Japanese as well). Leave the tunnel via the
now-open stairs and enter the building you find. Speak (はなす) with the only
person still standing (まむら). Exit, return into the tunnel and interact
(はなす) with the man lying on the ground around the bend.

Chapter 3 (三章): 無残なり

南町 (みなみちょう):

After the discussions, leave the building and village entirely and travel to
the new village in the southeast.
港町 (みなとちょう):
````````````````````
Follow the cobble path over the bridge and speak (はなす) with Okyou in purple
next to the water (おきょう). Threaten (おどす) her, then ask about to the
record (きく -> ろく) and inquire about the official (きく -> えらいひと). He
shows up and they all leave. All but the people you want to talk (はなす) to
next, Narumiya (なるみや) wearing green clothes right next to the water. Ask
about the only thing you can (きく -> きづいたこと). Also speak (はなす) to
Suekichi (すえきち) next to the wall on the left side. This is all we can do
here for now, so leave and return to the first village.
南町 (みなみちょう):
````````````````````
Enter the guards quarters and continue to the prison cell. Interrogate (はなす)
Okyou (おきょう) inside and ask about the "kiduita" (きく -> きづいたこと), the
record (きく -> ろく), the official (きく -> えらいひと) as finally the
medication (きく -> くすり). After the scene, leave the village and journey far
east.
材木町 (ざいもくちょう):
````````````````````````
Cross the small bridge in the southeast corner of the village and hug the river
as your travel north. Do not venture too far east or you will leave the village
entirely. There is hut at the north side which you want to enter and talk
(はなす) to Omitsu (おみつ). Show her the medicine in your possession (もちもの
-> みせる -> くすり). Next (はなす) speak with Taichi (たいち) next to her and
ask about the "kiduita" (きく -> きづいたこと) and "okiku" (きく -> おきく).
Give him the medication (もちもの -> つかう -> くすり). This makes a new place
appear on the map, go there now. If you really need help finding it, it is in
the central south area.
品川 (しながわ):
````````````````
The person you are looking for is in the house on the right that is encircled
with poles. She is the one top right, north of the old man. Speak (はなす) with
her (じゅんのすけ). Enquire about the "kiduita" (きく -> きづいたこと), opium
(きく -> あへん) and finally the minister (きく -> かろう) so she tags along.
Bring her to the lone hut in the previous village.
材木町 (ざいもくちょう):
````````````````````````
Check (しらべる) on the girl now lying on the floor, then check (しらべる) the
guy before speaking (はなす) to him. Turn your attention to assistant and
speak (はなす) with her (じゅんのすけ). Ask about the "kiduita" (きく ->
きづいたこと), minister (きく -> かろう) and the coma (きく -> しらかわ). Take
a trip to the village in the dead center of the map.
門前町 (もんぜんちょう):
````````````````````````
Talk (はなす) to Hide (ひで),the guard at the gate on the west side. Inquire
about the "kiduita" (きく -> きづいたこと), minister (きく -> かろう) and the
coma (きく -> しらかわ). Return to the village in the east.
材木町 (ざいもくちょう):
````````````````````````
Enter the bar (guarded by the dog if you forgot already) and talk (はなす) to
Suekichi (すえきち) on the left as you enter, then speak to Samon (さもん) on
the right. Ask about the "kiduita" (きく -> きづいたこと). Speak (はなす) with
Okiku (おきく) at the top side of the two women. Ask about the treasure (きく
-> 3つのたから) and the bandit (きく -> さんぞく), then show her the golden
hairpin (もちもの -> みせる -> きんのかんざし) and the "echizu" (もちもの ->
みせる -> えちず). Last but not least, talk (はなす) to Yuuji (ゆうじ) on the
right of the two ladies and also ask about the "kiduita" (きく ->
きづいたこと). As you leave you will notice Hide (ひで) outside the bar, so
have a chat (はなす) with him. Mention the "kiduita" (きく -> きづいたこと).
Journey southeast.
港町 (みなとちょう):
````````````````````
Find the house at the southern section which has large walls surrounding it. Go
up to the stage and speak (はなす) with Gonzou (ごんぞう) here in blue.
Threaten him (おどす). That is all you came here for, the next destination is
the first village in the west again.
南町 (みなみちょう):
````````````````````
Walk into the house at the east bridge, the one with the curtains. Speak
(はなす) with Kagoya (かごや) inside. Show him the chest (もちもの -> みせる ->
かごきょかけん) and you will both carry it to Honda.
本田村 (ほんだむら):
````````````````````
Run all the way north past the small creeks and talk (はなす) to Tarou
(たろう), the younger of the two men standing at the house. Also chat (はなす)
with the older guy (まさべえ) and ask about the "kiduita" (きく ->
きづいたこと). He will allow you to enter the tunnel on the western side, if
you tried to go there earlier you will notice a guard not letting you pass.
Enter the cave. From the starting position, take three steps south, three steps
east, six steps south and then one more east. Check (しらべる) the ground to
find a knife. Just in case your were wondering, taking four steps east and six
steps south in one go will not result in finding the knife, because you
actually need to face east at that location. You can still re-position yourself
at the exact spot though, there is no need to take a specific path through the
cave to "unlock" the knife.

Final Chapter (終章): 極悪非道なり
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leave the house and inspect (しらべる) the arrow that is planted right next to
it. You can't miss it. Afterwards make your way far east.
材木町 (ざいもくちょう):
````````````````````````
Make your way to the south and attempt to enter the house near the bridge. You
have to fight another one of those luck-based ninjas bouts. Look up for
instructions if you are lost. When he is beat, head inside and run up to
Suekichi (I think this is another pun on a name, meaning "Uncertain Fortune").
Check the body (しらべる) and attempt to talk to him again (はなす) for someone
to come in. Head back outside only to be arrested.
南町 (みなみちょう):
````````````````````
Open the cell door and speak (はなす) with Tanaka (たなか). Ask about the
"kiduita" (きく -> きづいたこと). Head ouside and to the magistrate's building
in the northwest. Follow the corridor around and speak (はなす) with Mamura
(まむら) in the back. Travel east a bit.
門前町 (もんぜんちょう):
````````````````````````
Enter the temple on the north side. Inside walk left and speak (はなす) to the
acrobat (きょくげいし). He will want to fight you, and your "only select
attack" strategy should take him down within a minute. Leave and travel south.
品川 (しながわ):
````````````````
Enter the house at the very top left, in was guarded before if you came here.
You will find Hide (ひで) and you obviously want to have a chat (はなす). Ask
about the "kiduita" (きく -> きづいたこと). Quit the conversation dialog and
talk (はなす) to him again. You will switch to Hide for now. His first
destination is the central village.
門前町 (もんぜんちょう):
````````````````````````
Walk up to the narrow passage between the trees in the northwest corner. Run up
to Okiku for a scene. Apparently we will just leave her here but with revenge
on our mind we shall travel back south.
品川 (しながわ):
````````````````
Run southwest to another passage through the forest and a hut at the end. This
neat hide-out has many people inside. You will automatically run up to Oriku
(おりく) and pressing A will talk to her automatically as well. Next up, speak
(はなす) with Kayo (かよ) at the bottom left corner to take control of her. Her
first destination is the village at the southeast.
港町 (みなとちょう):
````````````````````
Head pretty much straight forward to the house with two entrances, enter the
left one and walk up to the sliding door in the back. A scene will take over.
品川 (しながわ):
````````````````
Return to the hideout and speak (はなす) with Ryuu (りゅう), the lady in dark
blue sitting at the right of the table. You will switch to her.
門前町 (もんぜんちょう):
````````````````````````
In the central village, head to the walled-in house at the western part. The
goons inside will have made space (if you went there earlier, no way to get
past indoors) and head to far end of the sliding doors to witness yet another
cut-scene.
品川 (しながわ):
````````````````
Return to the hideout and speak (はなす) with Tetsu (てつ), the old guy leaning
against the right wall. The game switches the main character yet again.
門前町 (もんぜんちょう):

Same village as the previous "spy", but this time head to the temple on the
east side, descend down the steps in the northereast corner and walk in front
of the sliding doors to listen to the conversation going on inside.
品川 (しながわ):

Return to the hideout and speak (はなす) with Oriku (おりく). You now have to
choose who fights who, but I do not think it matters, but you may get different
cut-scenes. Until I am sure there is no correct way of picking the opponents,
use this order: ごんぞう, なるみや, むらさき, おくがた, まむら (the fifth one
is automatically matched up with the last person, then say "no" (いいえ) when
asked if you want re-do it. Everyone will find their opponent and you have to
fight five times. If you fail even once you have to restart form the hide-out.
OK I lied, there is one more fight after those five, you will automatically
start it when the fifth person is defeated. She uses a gun and does quite a bit
of damage with it. If you wish, the hide-attack critical may be good to try out
here.
After she falls you are treated with a short (and silly if you ask me) ending.
Those kill sequences you saw a few moments ago are a thousand times better than
that.
