Version 4.0
Dates Written: May 29th to May 30th, 2003
I dedicate this to the Morrow clan of Twin Galaxies. We most definitely got
off on the wrong foot, (particularly FirebrandX), what with your coming to
GameFAQs and talking some serious trash against the MTPO Board. However,
you have proven to be a good dude (you and your brother both), so keep
gaming it up hard, congratulations on your achieving the world record time
of 3:42, and good luck on your other gaming ventures.
Also, for Cougar, Howler, and Koonce. I miss you, and I hope you are living
it up in the afterlife as you did in this world. You will always be in my
memories, and you will never be forgotten.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Jason is on the loose at Camp Crystal! The Counsellors have decided to
fight back, but they are only armed with stones and communicators! With
the children "safely" hidden out on the lake cabins, your job is to guide
the six counsellors around Crystal Lake while upgrading their weapons,
finding Items, and taking on the demented Voorhees family! Good luck and
be sure to watch out for the masked maniac REAGRDLESS of where you are,
as he can be in the Cabins, prowling the paths, or swimming (somehow) at
breakneck speeds through the waters of Crystal Lake!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------Controls-----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) This section will look over the controls that are used in the various
(and perilous) situations Jason puts your Counsellors in.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Characters----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) This section will look at each Counsellor, highlighting their strengths
and weaknesses.
o--------o
Crissy
o--------o
She jumps as well as Mark, so she too can leap as high as a Cabin's roof!
She also is the most fleet of foot, allowing her to outrun any enemies (except
Jason of course). Her rowing is just below Mark and Debbie for speed, so she
is no slouch either. Tied for the best Counsellor with Mark.
o--------o
Debbie
o--------o
Debbie has hienous jumping abilities (she can only jump an enemy if it is a
perfectly timed hop)! Add to that her horrific speed, and she is looking
horrible! However, she is the second fastest rower, which might make her
your choice for saving the kids on the lake from Jason. She still ranks in
as one of the worst Counsellors (but ahead of George).
o--------o
George
o--------o
Second lowest jump, he is not very able to get over enemies! He also has
poor foot speed, making on par with Debbie in these two areas (no outrunning
enemies). Add in his poor rowing, and you have the worst character...
period.
o-------o
Laura
o-------o
An average jumper, she can still get over enemies and gaps. She is also of
average speedster, allowing her to outrun some enemies. Her rowing however,
is terrible and it will lead to lots of dead children! An average Counsellor
that should be alright to use.
o------o
Mark
o------o
A great jumper, he can jump as high as the roof of a cabin! He also has
above average foot speed, so he can outrun any enemy (except for Jason of
course!). He also signs in as the best rower of the group, so you may wish
to keep him near the lake so he can go after the Jason when he tries to kill
the kids! Tied for best Cunsellor with Crissy.
o------o
Paul
o------o
An average jumper, he can still get over enemies and gaps. He is also of
average speedster, allowing him to outrun some enemies. His rowing however,
is terrible and it will lead to lots of dead children! An average Counsellor
that should be alright to use.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Enemies-----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) This section will look at each enemy, how many weapon hits they take to
kill (if applicable), and how they behave.
o-----------------o
Regular Enemies
o-----------------o
Bats : Found in the Cave, they will fly through the air and try to hit
your Counsellor. However, they will often fly right on by, and
they only take one hit from ANY weapon to defeat, making them a
rather weak enemy.
Crows : Once night falls, these baddies show up on the paths and on the
lake. For every 6 Zombies you encounter on the path, a Crow will
appear. One hit will take them out, but they are decpetively fast
with their swooping attack.
Wolves : These tough old buggers patrol the forest and the cave. The darker
it gets, the more numerous these bad boys become. They will chase
your Counsellor down and keep attacking until you change areas, you
die, or they die. They require multiple hits to destroy (even with
the Machete or higher it is four hits!), so if you have Rocks you
are not likely to defeat these menaces.
Zombies: The most common enemy in the game, these walking dead will increase
in numbers as the day goes on (day =1, dusk = 2, and night = 3).
They require 3 rocks or 2 Knives before they become one hit kills.
Really weak enemies in all, but they are annoying when they start
aprouting in large numbers.
o---------------o
Voorhees Clan
o---------------o
Jason's Mother: A decapitated head (courtesy of the Machete treatment in the
original movie) that floats around in her cave lair. She
can only be killed once per day, granting special weaponry
each day (Day One = weapon upgrade one level,
Day Two = Sweater, Day Three = Pitchfork). She takes 18 hits
with Rocks, 15 hits with Knives, 10 hits with Machetes, 8
hits with Axes, and 6 hits with Torches (these are rough
estimates).
Jason : The star killer of the game, Jason will stalk not only the
Counsellors, but the children in the lake cabins as well.
He will seek out your Counsellors in their cabins (killing
them if you fail to get a Counsellor in your control at that
cabin in a minute), he will attack the children (he will
kill one every 6 seconds once the timer goes down to 30, up
to 5 if the timer reaches 0), and he will also attack your
people on the path (a pitcjed battle will occur) and the
lake (he will just zoom right through you wihtout taking any
damage!). When a battle begins, it will take seven weapon
hits to snd Jason away temporarily, except when his life bar
goes under 20%, at which point he will continue the attack
until he or your Counsellor runs out of life completely
(this does not apply to the path battles though). Each day
brings an improved speed and toughness to the more
conventional weapons (Stones, Knives, Machetes, and Axes).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Weapons-----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) This section will look at the available wepaons to the counsellors, how
to find them, and how powerful they are (they will be listed from weakest
to strongest). Rememebr that no matter what rank of weapon you have,
touching/taling a new weapon will replace it (even if it means a less
powerful weapon)!
o--------------o
Stones/Rocks
o--------------o
The default weapon that each Counsellor begins with also happen to be the
worst weapon available. These weapons fly in an arc, often clearing the
heads of enemies (unless your Counsellor crouches tp make their trajectory
lower), so try to rid yourself of these as soon as possible. Jason will lose
a Life Bar tick with every sixth hit from this weapon.
o-------o
Knife
o-------o
One step up from Stones/Rocks, it flies in a straight line across the
screen in a rapid manner. These useful weapons can be found on the paths by
jumping up in a random spot to make them appear. Jason will lose a Life Bar
tick with every fifth hit from this weapon.
o---------o
Machete
o---------o
This is the best weapon that can be won through conventional means (kill 60
Zombies to make one appear, which you can repeat again and again). This
long bladed weapon flies quickly across the screen hacking up enemies
efficiently. You can also get one from Jason's Mother on the first day in
the cave by defeating her with Stones or knives. Jason will lose a Life bar
tick with every third hit from one of these sweet babies.
o-----o
Axe
o-----o
Slightly more powerful than the Machete (every 2 hits remove a Life Bar tick
from Jason), this weapon can be found in the cabins in the woods (random, but
ussualy after you find a note saying the Cabin in the woods has one) or defeat
Jason's Mother on the first day in the cave (provided you enter the battle
using a Machete). This weapon also flies across the entire screen, but not as
swiftly as the Machete.
o-------o
Torch
o-------o
This rare weapon can be collected once by lighitng all the fireplaces in the
Large Cabins (upon lighting the sixth one a note will tell you where to find
it). This weapon is powerful enough to damage Jason for one tick
of Life EVERY TIME he is hit! However, this weapon has limited range as it
arcs through the air, but it does leave a small fire burning for a second or
two. Also note that a special technique can be used to find the note, so
check out section 8 for more details. This means you can in fact get each
Counsellor a Torch of their own!
o-----------o
Pitchfork
o-----------o
Only one way to get this beauty, and it requires you to go after Jason's
Mother on the third (and final) day! It is as powerful as the Torch, but it
will sail across the full screen, INCLUDING going through enemies (making
Zombies "dead"er at night as they march in a line). A must have, but quite
difficult to obtain because of Jason's Mothers mad fighting abilities on the
third day!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------Items------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
6) This section will look at all the Items that can be gathered to help your
Counsellors in the fight against Jason.
o------------o
Flashlight
o------------o
Another reward for lighting the fireplaces in the Large Cabins, it will
light the cave up better than it is. You will be able to see doors along
the wall instead of just blackness. However, it is not really required as
finding Jason's Mothers room in the cave is not overly difficult.
o-----o
Key
o-----o
Randomly obtained by jumping along the paths around Crystal Lake, it will
allow your Counsellor to enter any locked door as many times as needed.
This includes the door to Jason's Mothers room and the Cabins in the woods.
o---------o
Lighter
o---------o
Kill Zombies along the path to cause these to appear (they are VERY common).
They are used to light the fireplaces in the Large Cabins, which can obtain
better Weapons/Items for your Counsellors.
o----------o
Medicine
o----------o
This is found by randomly jumping around on the paths around Crystal Lake
(most commonly found in the Woods and the Cave). The Counsellor who carries
the Medicine will have no use for it until their life bar runs out, at which
point their life bar will refill according to how many jars they have. If
you take Medicine to another Counsellor, you need to use the CURE command to
partially refill their life bar.
o---------o
Sweater
o---------o
Upon defeating Jason's Mother on the second day, she will yield this Item.
Whichever Counsellor that wears this Item will cause Jason some confusion
(it is his Mother's Sweater after all) and thusly he will damage your
Counsellor less than the usual. The COunsellor wearing it will flash to
indicate they are the one wearing it.

I. How To Read These Maps
==========================
Ok, since the forests in Friday the 13th are very confusing, the maps for
them are kinda tricky, but this was the easiest way that I could think of
to make them.
I recommend printing out the maps and drawing arrows. it will make them
easier to read.
SAMPLE MAP:
{A}
|
--[b]----------------------[a]---------

(exit) {B}
The dashed line (------) represents the main pathway. the main pathway
"wraps-around" so if you walk off the right side of the map, you will go
to the left and vice versa.
Say you start on the left side of the sample map and take the first upward
path ending in {A}. this will drop you off at point [a] at the right side
of the map. get it? so if you take a path to an uppercase letter, it will
warp you to its corresponding lowercase letter.
FOR THE CAVE MAP ONLY!
The cave is not as complicated as the forests so i am using a simpler
method for the map. in the cave, {A} will lead to the other {A}, {B} will
lead to the other {B} and so on.

(exit) {D}
You'll notice there are three places where you can fight Jason's mother.
Two of these rooms have extra weapons (you must turn to the left or right
to see them.) HOWEVER, once you defeat Jason's mother and she leaves an
Item, you may only pick up one of the Items in the room. The other
will dissapear. So I recomend that you fight his mother in the first room
(nearest the exit, where it's just her) and then go back for the other
weapons.
NOTE: For the extra weapon to be available in her room, you need to meet the
following requirements before going after her:
-Collect the Flashlight (after lighting all the Fireplaces)
-Next, read both notes from the northernmost cabin on the outer-circuit:
Note 1: GO INTO ONE OF THE CABINS BY THE LAKE. (don't follow this direction!)
Note 2: THERE'S AN AX HIDDEN SOMEWHERE IN THE CAVE.
Quick directions:
TO JUST MOTHER : Go left and take the first upward path.
TO MOTHER & MACHETE : Go right and take the first downward path,
then right and first upward path.
TO MOTHER & AXE : Go up the first path on the right, then up
the next path on the left.
TO GET BACK FORM ANY OF THESE: Retrace your steps.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------Fighting Jason--------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
8) This section will look at some strategies for fighting Jason. It will
include Cabin and In The Field techniques to help you survive.
o----------------o
Cabin Fighting
o----------------o
-You will need to find Jason first wihtin the Cabin to start the fight off.
This requires you to move around the Cabin, looking in EVERY DIRECTION
until you see him.
-Once you find him, he will be armed in various manners. He may be unarmed
(only see him like this on the first Cabin encounter on a day, followed by
extremely rare instances), armed with a Machete (usually the second time in
a day, followed by the odd time), or armed with an Axe (the third encounter
on any day, followed by most of the ensuing encounters). He does the most
damage with the Axe, then the Machete, then unarmed. Keep in mind that
after he finishes a Counsellor off, he will return unarmed, then with a
Machete, and then back to his trusty Axe.
-When fighting, the best way to fight is to hold DOWN, wait for him to draw
near, and then press LEFT or RIGHT to dodge his attack.
-He will usually attack once, and then move. However, he will occasionally
attack twice in a row, which is predicatble (see Special Techniques for
specific details).
-The best time to attack the psychotic killer is when he is backing up from
your Counsellor (you can usually land 3 or 4 hits at this time).
-Also note that you will on occasion enter an empty Cabin to find that Jason
is inside! This can be really freaky, so keep an eye out for his name at
the bottom of the screen. This includes Large Cabins as well, so fairly
warned be ye!
-Also note that leaving a Cabin he inhabits without taking the time to
exchange some weaponry will usually leads to an enraged Jason going to get
you on the path (see below for details on Path Fighting).
o---------------o
Path Fighting
o---------------o
-Jason will occasionally show up on the path to fight, which is noticable
when you have enemies on screen and you are unable to scroll the screen.
-When he charges in, he will usually unleash a Machete. He still requires
seven hits to chase away, but he can not only use his Machete to hurt your
Counsellor, but he can use his body to do so as well (an advantage he has
on the path).
-If you know he is going to appear, turn and face the direction he is likely
to appear from and start throwing your weapon rapidly to score about half
the hits required to chase him away.
-Also know that if you see the screen stop scrolling, you have the slim
possibility of slipping across a path before he appears or even into a
Cabin to avoid the fight (especially useful if path fighting for you is
weak or your Counsellor is in really bad health).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------Special Techniques-----------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
9) This section will look at a few special techniques that can be used to
gain stronger weapons faster than usual. Many thanks for Daniel T and
his amazing strategies for this section (easily qualifying him as a
co-author with his Specialized Jason Fighting Techniques and his Quick
Torch Method, so thanks buddy!).
o--------------------o
Quick Torch Method
o--------------------o
First of all I would like to thank FirebrandX for mentioning that there was
a quick torch method. If he had not informed me of this, I would never have
sat down and tried to discover this strategy on my own. It helped me break
the fastest time record.
In order for the Quick Torch method to work, it is important that one of the
six Counsellors starts off at a specific destination. This is the small
cabin located at the top left corner of the large circle on the map, where
the lake is in. Just to make sure that you have the correct cabin, above it
there are trees, to the left, outside the trail, there is a Large Cabin by
the cave, below it there is a large cabin further down and to the right
there are trees placed above the lake. Found it? I hope so. Now, when you
start a game make sure that one of the six Counsellors begins in this cabin
to make things easier. If you are going for a fast finish, use Mark and
keep resetting the game until he begins in this cabin.
Once you notice the correct cabin flashing, choose that Counsellor to start
the game. At this time get ready to kneel and throw rocks at Zombies. You
must kill three (sometimes four) Zombies and then you will see a Lighter
appear at the right of the screen. Pick it up. Immediately following this,
a Knife should appear at either the right or left, pick it up. Now move
towards the left until you see a Large Cabin and press UP to enter it. Upon
entering, press UP once and then RIGHT once to turn, a message will appear.
Press SELECT and choose TAKE. The message will be picked up and read: "GO
INTO THE WOODS." Press B to release the message and then press RIGHT once
to turn around and then UP twice to exit.
Once out, proceed to the left and then when you see the first path going
down, press DOWN to enter it. Move to the left and jump, a Knife will
appear. Pick it up and then move to the left while jumping, a Key will
appear around this area and you must pick it up. Now direct your Counsellor
to the right and jump a few times if you want to pick up a Medicine Tank.
Continue going right until you see a path going upwards. Enter it by
pressing UP twice. A door will be seen, but instead of entering it press
DOWN to exit and go back into the woods (This is because if the Counsellor
enters the door immediately the message will not be there yet, a nasty trick
designed by the game developers I suppose).
Immediately after pressing DOWN, press UP to see the door again. This time
you can enter it by pressing UP of course. Upon entering, press RIGHT once
to turn around and a message will appear. As before, press SELECT and then
choose TAKE. The message reads: "FIRE WILL DAMAGE JASON THE MOST." Press B
to release the message and then press RIGHT once to turn around and then UP
twice to exit.
Your Counsellor will now be outside in the woods, where he or she must now
travel towards the right. Move right while jumping to pick up another
Medicine Tank and then upon seeing the first path going down, press DOWN to
enter it. Now move to the right again and once you see another downward
path enter it by pressing DOWN. Your Counsellor will now be back on the
regular trails. Make the Counsellor move to the right until a Large Cabin
is seen. Enter it by pressing UP. Once inside, press UP once and LEFT
twice in order to turn around and spot the Torch (Oh yeah!). At this point,
press SELECT and choose TAKE. Your counselor now possesses the Torch! Way
to go!
Now exit the cabin by pressing UP twice and you are now on your way. If the
alarm has been buzzing all this time, it would be best to save the
endangered victim(s) at this point (lol). Attend to all life and death
matters and destroy Jason if you can!!
It should be noted that the Quick Torch method is not a random strategy, it
works every time when properly executed. The Torch can be picked up using
the following strategy more than once. However, the Counsellor must have
picked up certain items (Lighter, Knife, Message 1, Key, Message 2) before
this can happen, and that means THEY find those items, they cannot be passed
along from another counsellor.
o---------------------------------------o
Specialized Jason Fighting Techniques
o---------------------------------------o
We all know that Jason Voorhees spells trouble. However, too much credit is
given to this man. He, like other freaks such as Freddy Krueger and Michael
Myers, obtain a dominant edge through intimidation tactics. Without this,
they are nothing. Therefore, instead of running away from Jason and being
the hunted, it is time that you reverse this and become the hunter. Stand
up to Jason, be brave and he shall fall (Oh will he ever!). Do not let his
name intimidate you or your quest will become a failure. Put the fear into
Jason (yes he does have fear, why do you think he wears a mask? He fears
himself) and challenge him at every turn. It is only through this bravado
that Jason will be destroyed.
This inspirational speech is likely not enough for some of you, so I have
some strategies that should help out as well. Jason's abilities (mainly his
speed) dramatically alter over the course of the three dreaded and deadly
camp days. On the first day, he is slower at all levels. By Day Two, his
attacking becomes slightly more aggressive and he sometimes goes into Turbo
Mode. Day Three of course is where Jason shines. He is always in Turbo
Mode and faster than ever (just go see for yourself if you do not believe
it). Don't let this get you down though, he still leaves openings for
landing your weaponry and thus can still be defeated.
I am now going to outline fighting techniques that should be used on Jason
from Day One to Day Two to Day Three. Hopefully it will benefit those in
need, as I too know how hard/frustrating the game can be!
=======
Day One
=======
Since Jason is at his worst on the first day, his attacks should not be too
overwhelming (even to the less experienced players).
In the Cabin Fighting, he mostly uses one hit attacks that can easily be
avoided by holding DOWN, and either pressing LEFT or RIGHT to perform a
dodge (your Counsellor will duck off to the side ofr a moment, allowing
Jason's weapon to go where your head and torso used to be). The Counsellor
should always remain in the middle of the screen, so never move them around.
It is easier to dodge Jason's attacks in this way. The trick to hitting
Jason is to dodge his attacks a little bit early and to then throw the
weapon at him (cathcing him as he starts to move off to the side). At times
he will slightly back up indicating that he will try using a double attack
(provided he comes straight back at you). Dodge both of those attacks if he
does so and then throw the weapon.
Also, Jason might follow up a double attack with another double attack
immediately after, so be prepared for this and dodge them both and retaliate
with your weapon (it is often best to wait for him to return to his one
attack pattern before attmpeting to hurt him). When Jason is hit seven
times, he will fade away and a message stating: "YOU WIN… FOR NOW." will
appear. This message will continuously appear after most of the early Cabin
Fighting. Later on though when Jason is low on energy (under 20% of his
total Life Bar), your Counsellor will have to finish him off and therefore
it will usually require more than seven hits to do so (this can climb into
the 30's if you still have Rocks).
After Cabin Fighting, it is best to go outside with the Counsellor who just
fought Jason. This is because he will be there waiting for you and if you
have a powerful weapon, you can go hunt him down. This strategy can be used
at anytime during the course of the game.
The outside battles are rather easy and this is where Jason can be damaged
the most. I recommend following Jason outside after each battle. With a
Torch in hand and some Medicine Tanks in your repertoire, Jason will not
last long. Find him before he finds you, this should be your plan.

it will usually require more than seven hits to do so (this can climb into
the 30's if you still have Rocks).
Also note that Jason will occasionally show flashes of his Turbo Mode, which
is his normal behaviour starting on Day Three. When ever you see him pick
up speed, you know he is going to be using double attacks continuously UNTIL
he slows down again. Quickly double dodge his attacks from the left (since
he always starts the Turbo Mode attack near the top left corner of the room)
when he approaches and then as soon as Jason bounces off the right wall,
perform an early dodge followed by a second dodge as he is coming. This will
give your Counsellor just enough time to throw a weapon at Jason immediately
after the second dodge. Repeat this if you have to do until Jason is
stopped, but rememebr this move takes some practice.
After Cabin Fighting, it is best to go outside with the Counsellor who just
fought Jason. This is because he will be there waiting for you and if you
have a powerful weapon, you can go hunt him down. This strategy can be used

Day Three

In the Cabin Fighting, he mostly uses one hit attacks that can easily be

Jason's weapon to go where your head and torso used to be). The Counsellor
should always remain in the middle of the screen, so never move them around.
It is easier to dodge Jason's attacks in this way.
As stated before, Jason will now be in Turbo Mode 100% of the time. He is
relentless on Day Three, just as you should be to him (no quarter granted).
The Cabin Fighting is exceptionally harder than usual, since Jason is at his
fastest and overall best. However, you know what the trick is now. Always
double dodge his attacks from the left as he approaches, and then perform an
early dodge as he bounces off the right wall. Follow this with a second
quick dodge and launch of your Counsellor's weapon. When you get the timing
right, Jason will be hit every time. The early dodge perfectly sets up the
counter attack and Jason, as fast as he is, will not be able to avoid it
(eat that sucka!). Repeat this over and over again until Jason escapes or
is destroyed.
After Cabin Fighting, it is best to go outside with the Counsellor who just
fought Jason. This is because he will be there waiting for you and if you
have a powerful weapon, you can go hunt him down. This strategy can be used

the most. I recommend following Jason outside after each battle. With a
Torch in hand and some Medicine Tanks in your repertoire, Jason will not
last long. Find him before he finds you, this should be your plan. Just
make sure to note that he is in fact faster and stronger on the outside
paths on Day Three than the previous two days, making it a much more risky
venture. However, if you have a good weapon (like the Pitchfork, Torch, or
even an Axe or a Machete) along with a few Medicine Tanks (for safety), then
hunt him down through these methods to quickly eradicate his Life Bar and
end his reign of terror!
R.I.P. Jason Voorhees (yeah right, he ALWAYS comes back SOMEHOW!)

Specialized Jason's Mother Fighting Techniques
o------------------------------------------------o
Jason's Mother is in the game, just in a rather carefully hidden locale.
She in fact resides within the Cave that is on the map (the area with a
circular path winding around the very Cave). Before setting out for her
hiding place, you will need to have a Key within your COunsellors hands, and
a Flashlight will make it easier to find her (although it is entirely
unecessary as I will tell you hoe to find her 100% of the time).
Upon entering the cave, turn left to jump a hole (take out a Zombie if he
is on the next ledge), followed by jmuping the next gap (again you should
play Zombie exterminator if one is in your path). Next, you need to walk
two/thirds of the way across this ledge, stop and then press UP to enter a
hidden entrance (although it is visible with the Flashlight within your
grasp). When you appear inside, Walk through the door ahead (this is what
you need the Key for) to enter the lair of Jason's Mother!
Jason's Mother is a tough boss battle, not only because of her resiliancy to
your weapons but also due to her erratic movements. However, she does show
some patterns that a player should try to take advantage of to end the fight
with Jason's Mother as soon as possible.
=======
Day One
=======
When you enter her lair on the first day, she will sluggishly weave upwards
from her altar (presumably constructed by Jason for his Mother) to reach the
roof of her cave (throw weapons at her to land up to five free shots). She
will immediately dive staright downwards, so use your dodge by pressing DOWN
along with LEFT or RIGHT, followed by an unleashing of a weapon or two. Keep
in mind that you need to be VERY timely because she spends so much time
within the zone she can hurt you on. She wil then follow this with another
straight dive (again dodge, followed by a weapon throw) most of the time.
Her next step is to start moving horizontally across the top of the screen in
one direction before doing a swooping dive to try and hit your Counsellor.
This dive till come down on an angle and go back up on the same angle (but
further to the side that Jason's Mother was moving originally). While she is
moving to the side, try to get ahead of her and "time" your weapon throws so
they connect with her head as she moves (the weapins require a little time to
get up to her height). The best bet is to keep walking in the same direcion
as she goes to keep out of attack's way as well as to be able to land
multiple weapon throws before she dives.
If she does revert to straight dives, you can try to sneak in udnerneath her
for a quick wepaon hit.
Upon defeating her on this day, you will receive a Machete as your reward for
defeating her. However, IF you enter the fight carrying a Machete ALREADY,
your reward will be an Axe INSTEAD.

Day Two

This dive till come down on an angle and go back up on the same angle (but
further to the side that Jason's Mother was moving originally). Keep in
mind that she can now perform two in a row now. While she is moving to
the side, try to get ahead of her and "time" your weapon throws so they
connect with her head as she moves (the weapins require a little time to get
up to her height). The best bet is to keep walking in the same direcion as
she goes to keep out of attack's way as well as to be able to land multiple

If she does revert to straight dives, you can try to sneak in udnerneath her
for a quick wepaon hit.
Upon defeating her on this day, you will receive her Sweater. This Sweater
offers extra protrection from damage when jason attacks that one Counsellor.
It is a useful Item, so go after her with a good weapon to make a Jason
killing machine.

Upon defeating her on this day, you will receive the legendary Pitchfork!
This weapon is just as powerful as the Torch, but it has the added bonuses
of flying right across the screen, being faster to throw, and it passes
right through enemies to damage enemies behind the front one! A definite
plus, but a very difficult battle because of Jason's Mother being so
incredibly fast!

Removing All Zombies
o----------------------o
This trick may not be the smartest move you can do right away (Zombies
supply you with Lighters and the odd Machete), but it is useful once you are
properly supplied.
You will require a Counsellor who can outrun the Zombies (preferrably Mark
or Crissy). When the ZOmbies appear, run in the same direction as them so
you will pull away from them steadily. Keep running until they have been
scrolled off the screen. Now repeat as new ones show up, and continue doing
this action until you have no more Zombies to bother you (it takes around
five or six sets of Zombies put down to do this).
However, this must be repeated ANY time you enter a new area with Zombies
(including if you enter/exit a Cabin, go down a path to a different area, or
if you go onto the Lake).
o--------------------------o
Alternate Zombie Removal
o--------------------------o
This trick will help you to clear the paths (not in the forest) during the
dusk/night hours.
After killing off six Zombies, a Crow will appear in the air, coming at your
Counsellor from whichever direction the Counsellor is facing (this means
that it will try to fly into you). The trick is to kill Zombies while
facing the opposite direction you wish to go, have the Crow appear, and then
head down the path ahead of it. You will need to keep the Crow following
you, so the pace willbe slow, but the reward is no Zombies to deal with
until you lose your Crow follower.
o---------------------------------o
Fast Ways Into the Woods Cabins
o---------------------------------o
When you are entering the Woods (either set) from the northern path
(assuming that the top of the Crystal Lake map is north) is to head right
until you see a path leading down (take it). Continue to the right in the
new segment of the forest to go up the first path you see to enter a Cabin.
When you are entering the Woods (either set) from the southern path
(assuming that the top of the Crystal Lake map is south) is to head right
until you see a path leading down (take it). Continue to the left until a
path leads dowm to a Cabin.
o----------------------------o
Fast Ways Out Of The Woods
o----------------------------o
When you wish to leave the Woods (either set) through the northern path
(assuming that the top of the Crystal Lake map is north) is to head right
from the Cabin until you see a path leading up, which you take, followed by
immediately heading down again to exit to the north side of the woods.
As of yet, I have been unable to calculate an escape route from the Cabins
in the Woods to deposit your Counsellor on the south side of the forest. If
you know of any route, please e-mail me at
[email protected] or
e-mail Daniel at

Hard. Frustrating. Impossible. These are just some of the words
attached to this cult classic on the NES. Hard to learn? Yes. Harder
to get good at? Definitely. Near impossible to master? Usually.
However, a dedicated gamer can get proficient enough at this game, and I
challenge you to do the same!
