i. INTRODUCTION
-==-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==--==--==----=-=-==
As explained in the title screen, the story :
"Almost one year has passed since the Casino Kid defeated all the gamblers
in the U.S. to win a million dollars. But the gamblers around the
world have extended a challenge. They held elimination tournaments in
their areas and have selected the best players. The tournaments are
being organized by a mystery leader. No one knows who this person
is. To find out who this mystery leader is, you must defeat the best
gamblers in the world. You, the Casino Kid, cannot back down from
their challenge because you are the King of Casinos in the U.S. And
so, another King of the Casino's legend is born. Good luck Casino Kid!"
In Casino Kid 2, you must travel around the world(you learn geography!)
to defeat nine legendary gamblers, each specializing in either poker,
blackjack, or roulette. Starting with a huge bankroll of $200, build
up your fortune, leaving only bankruptcy in your wake, and take on
the man behind the tournament. Only then can the Kid reassert himself
as the King of Casinos!

ii. POKER RULES
-==-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==--==--==----=-=-==
The flavor of poker in this game is five card draw. After paying an
ante(equal to the minimum bet), each player is dealt five cards. Then
comes an initial round of betting; the players can raise up to four
times. Each player can then trade in 0-4 of his/her cards for new
ones. This is followed by another round of betting with the same four
raise maximum as before.
Here is the hierarchy of poker hands, listed from greatest to least :
1. Royal Flush - A hand consisting of a 10-Jack-Queen-King-Ace, all of
the same suite. Naturally, since there are only four
possible ways this hand can occur, its virtually a
guaranteed win.
Probability(unsimplified) : 4 / 2598960
2. Straight Flush - Five consecutive cards, all of the same suite.
Probability(unsimplified) : 36 / 2598960
3. Four of a Kind - Four cards have the same face value.
Probability(unsimplified) : 624 / 2598960
4. Full House - Three cards with the same face value, plus a pair of
cards with the same face value.
Probability(unsimplified) : 3744 / 2598960
5. Flush - Five cards of the same suite, not consecutive.
Probability(unsimplified) : 5108 / 2598960
6. Straight - Five cards with consecutive face values, not of the same
suite.
Probability(unsimplified) : 10200 / 2598960
7. Three of a Kind - Three cards with the same face value, the other
two do not match.
Probability(unsimplified) : 54912 / 2598960
8. Two Pair - Two pairs of cards with matching face values. The fifth
card matches neither pair.
Probability(unsimplified) : 123552 / 2598960
9. One Pair - A pair of cards with the same face value, none of the
other three match.
Probability(unsimplified) : 1098240 / 2598960
10. High Card - The bottom rung of the ladder; none of the cards face
values match.
Probability(unsimplified) : 1302540 / 2598960

iii. BLACKJACK RULES
-==-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==--==--==----=-=-==
The name of the game is 21(literally, to some); the idea is to collect
a hand of cards whose face values add up to as close to 21 as possible,
in hopes of beating the hand of the dealer. If you go over 21 though,
you automatically lose. Each player begins with two cards, one face
up and the other face down. You can then take the following actions :
Hit - You are dealt another card.
Stand - This tells the dealer you don't want any more cards.
Double down - This is a risky move, and it can only be executed before
your first hit. In a double down, you double your bet
and receive only one more card. You always double down
on an 11, since your chances of getting a 21 are pretty
good and you can't bust.
Split - When you begin with two identical cards you can choose to
split them into two seperate hands. The amount of your initial
bet will have to be placed on your new hand. The best hands
to split are two 10/face cards or two aces, since these are
all potential blackjacks.
A "blackjack" is of course the ultimate hand, consisting of an ace and
a face card/ten. When you get a blackjack, the dealer will pay you at
3 to 2 odds, instead of the usual 1 to 1. In Casino Kid 2, even if
the dealer has a blackjack also, you still automatically win.
There's also the concept of insurance when dealing with blackjacks.
If the dealer's face up card is an ace, he/she will offer to sell you
insurance, which is half the value of your initial bet. If the dealer
doesn't have blackjack, he pockets your insurance immediately and the
hand proceeds. If the dealer does have blackjack, however, he pays
you back twice the amount of the insurance, i.e. the amount of the
bet. Basically, it works like a push.
Your strategy will depend on the amount of risk your willing to take.
Remember, the main idea is to beat the dealer's hand. In Casino Kid 2,
the dealer will stand at any value 17 or over. The most rudimentary
strategy is to hit on anything 14 and below, stand on 17 and above,
and do what your mood tells you on 15 and 16. If I knew how to win
every time, well, I'd be rich.

In Casino Kid 2, you can place up to five bets on every spin.
There are several types of bets that can be made in roulette :
Straight up - This is an all or nothing bet. Place your chip directly
on one number.
Split bet - Bets on two numbers at once. The chip is placed on the
line dividing the numbers.
Street bet - Covers the three numbers in a row. Place the chip at the
end of the row(on the left side).
Corner bet - Allows you to bet on four numbers with a single chip.
Place the chip on the corner connecting the four numbers.
Line bet - Covers two rows for a total of six numbers. Place the chip
at the intersection of the two rows(again towards the left
side of the board).
Column bet - If a chip is placed in the 2 to 1 box at the end of the columns,
you bet on all the numbers in that column.
Dozen bet - Place a chip in any of the boxes labelled 1st 12, 2nd 12,
or 3rd 12. Covers the twelve numbers in the respective category.
Red/Black
Even/Odd ______\ Covers half the numbers on the table in the respective
1-18, 19-36 / categories.
Each type of bet pays off differently, the odds are based on how many
numbers the chip covers. Here's how it works out :
Numbers Covered | Payoff
---------------------|-------------------
One | 35 to 1
Two | 17 to 1
Three | 11 to 1
Four | 8 to 1
Six | 5 to 1
Twelve | 2 to 1
Eighteen | 1 to 1

v. OPPONENTS
-==-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==--==--==----=-=-==
Casino Kid 2 features nine opponents, 3 players each of poker, blackjack,
and roulette. You can play any opponent, as long as you can cover his/her
betting range.
Roulette is the game where you'll make the most money. Against
blackjack and poker players, you can only take as much money as those
players have. However, roulette players must pay off any winnings, no
matter the amount. Its also the easiest game to win. Instead of
making the outcome appear random, your opponent will tip you off to
the outcome by saying a phrase before you place your bet. Memorizing
the codes given by each player will mean big payoffs and short games.
Winning at poker also requires some observation, as you must read your
opponent and learn his/her behavior to determine if they are bluffing
or not. The tougher the player, however, the fewer tells he has.
Learning these patterns is less important than in roulette; here you
obviously have no direct control on the hand you're dealt. Beating an
opponent in poker can also take quite a while. However, sometimes the
other player will offer to bet all his/her money, and you can either accept
or decline the proposition. You can also initate this offer, but your
opponent won't always go for it.
Blackjack requires the least observation; you can't glean any information
from the actions of your opponent. Really, this game just takes
persistence. Obviously, it helps if have considerably more money than
your opponent so you can bet the maximum every time. This game also
has a "bet all money" option, so you can take that route if you feel
frisky.
I recommend beating the opponents in this order :
1. Rie Lenka
2. Paul Kieton
3. Allton Silver
4. Jyina Nagule
5. Rocky Hammer
6. Abu Ganzil
7. Othman Jr.
8. Nikorai Bunin
9. Ryu Mishima
10. Mystery Opponent
Below are strategies for beating each player, listed in the order above.
___________
| |
|-------------------------------| Rie Lenka |---------------------------------|
| |___________| |
Game : Roulette
Ranking : One medal
Bankroll : $100
Betting Range : $1-$10
Country : China
Against every roulette player, you'll want to go for the big score,
i.e. winning five maxed out straight up bets. Obviously, the best
chances of achieving this come with the phrases with the least
possible outcomes. So, play around with Rie without busting her,
losing small bets if necessary. Wait until she says, "I may hit 00, I
may not," or "Watch the wheel, not the layout," then place five $10
bets on one of the three possible numbers. You'll win $1800 dollars
from this bet, even though she only has $100.
If you want to maximize your take, drain Rie down to her last dollars,
then execute the above strategy. You should come out of the game with
$2000 to $2200.
Phrase | Possible Outcomes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I may hit 00, I may not." | 27, 00, 1
|
"Watch the wheel, not the layout." | 0, 28, 2
|
"Have you tried 12?" | 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27
|
"Try 12." | 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23
|
"How about the black or the red?" | Any black number.
|
"Think kid, think!" | Any black number.
|
"Listen to me carefully, kid." | 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36
|
"I'll hit in the first twelve." | Any number in the 3rd twelve.
| 27 is popular.
"What I say is very helpful." | 3, 9, 12, 18, 21, 27, 30, 36
| 27 is popular.
"Try the even or the odd." | Any even number.

Game : Roulette
Ranking : Two medals
Bankroll : $1000
Betting Range : $10-$100
Country : England
Like against Rie, aim for the big bucks against Mr. Keiton. Make
smaller bets to get him down to around $100, then wait for him to say
one of the first two phrases. Take your shot and lay $500 in a
straight up bet on one of the three outcomes.
If you miss, work him down again, and take another chance. Winning
off the straight up bet will net you $18000, which will put you in a
nice spot against your next opponents, whom each have only $100.
Phrase | Possible Outcomes
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"It may land on 00. Do you believe me?"| 27, 00, 1
|
"Teasing? No way!" | 0, 28, 2
|
"Well, well, well." | 14, 16, 18 - 24
|
"I can read you very well." | Third row.
|
"I don't like black cars." | Any black number.
|
"Don't get too excited." | 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11
|
"I cannot be defeated by you." | Any number in the 3rd twelve.
| 27 is popular.
"How old are you?" | 1 - 18
|
"You get excited and lose it all." | Any odd number.
|
"Betting on one number is risky." | 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35

Allton can't bluff, period. You would think his skills would be
somewhat developed, considering he hardly ever gets a good hand.
Usually the best he can come up with is a pair. He also bets
conservatively, so the game might take a while if you don't initiate
raises. A list of his usual sayings is below, in the order of the
probable strength of his hand.
You should have enough money from the roulette games to completely
obliterate Silver. Just play him straight up, max out your bets if
you have an extremely good hand. You probably won't be dealt many
good hands yourself this round, but even hands with just one pair
should be able to pull you through. Don't ever fold this round.
Phrases
----------------------
"Ha Ha Ha!" - Allton has a great hand, like anything greater than
two pair. Its a rare occurence.
"I'm fine." - This is his most common expression, usually it means
he has at least a pair.
"It's fun." - Only slightly worse than "I'm fine." He could have a
low pair or high card.
"Mmmm..." - Similar to "It's fun." Nothing to worry about.
"Ow..." - Silver has a terrible hand; take advantage of him.
"What is this hand?!" - The worst possible; he'll only really say
this after the initial deal.
Game : Blackjack
Ranking : One medal
Bankroll : $100
Betting Range : $1-$10
Country : Australia
Jyina seems to serve as a blackjack tutorial; she just gets the player
warmed up. She busts quite a bit, so you can play a little
conservatively. Since she only has $100, and you should have quite a
bit more, make sure to bet the max at all times.
Game : Blackjack
Ranking : Two medals
Bankroll : $1000
Betting Range : $10-$100
Country : Canada
Rocky's a lot luckier than Jyina... and you. He always seems to come
up with 19's, 20's, and 21's to your 17's and 18's. To beat him,
you'll have to make full use of opportunities to split and
double-down. Remember, always double-down on 11's; always split with
face cards and aces.
This match will also teach you about insurance; Rocky will often have
an ace as his face up card. I tend not to buy it, he only has
blackjack approximately one-fourth of the time(or less). You'll end
up paying him a lot more if you buy it all the time than if you just
pass on it.
______________
| |
|------------------------------| Abu Ganzil |-------------------------------|
| |______________| |
Game : Roulette
Ranking : Three medals
Bankroll : $10000
Betting Range : $100-$1000
Country : India
Beating Abu Ganzil will take longer than the other blackjack players.
His tips are not as restrictive as the others, so its harder to hit a
number straight up. Still, you should keep the same strategy, milking
him down to a small amount of money, then hitting him up for a big
payoff - $180000 to be exact.
Phrase | Possible Outcomes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"How about trying the even?" | Any odd number.
|
"I am always the winner." | Any odd, red number.
|
"I'll bet it's odd. Do you believe me?"| Any even number.
|
"I never lose." | 1 - 12, 24
|
"Go on!" | 6, 21, 23, 35
|
"It will be a full moon tonight." | 0, 5, 6, 27
|
"What day is today?" | 0, 28, 2, 1
|
"How about the number 22?" | 5, 15, 17, 34
|
"Bet now! Don't think so much." | 0, 7, 11, 30
|
"You can't beat me!" | 00, 17, 32, 34
|
______________
| |
|------------------------------| Othman Jr. |-------------------------------|
| |______________| |
Game : Poker
Ranking : Two medals
Bankroll : $1000
Betting Range : $10-$100
Country : Nigeria
At this point, your large amount of money should be enough to drown
Othman Jr. without much effort. He has the same tells as Allton
Silver, but he shows them half as often. Unlike Allton, he'll
frequently be dealt some decent hands, so don't always rush to call
his bets. Folding is an option. For a shorter match, choose to bet
all your money as soon as possible.
Game : Blackjack
Ranking : Three medals
Bankroll : $10000
Betting Range : $100-$1000
Country : Russia
Comrade Bunin has almost the same skill level as Rocky Hammer,
however, he deals himself even more 19's, 20's, and 21's. You'll be
dealt even more in-between hands, which inevitably leads to more
frustrating busts.
Because of the frequency of these in-between hands, you might want to
lay off splitting on face cards/tens. However, the same policies used
against Rocky Hammer regarding double downs and insurance still hold.
Don't forget to use the "bet all money" option to shorten the match.
Game : Poker
Ranking : Three medals
Bankroll : $10000
Betting Range : $100-$1000
Country : Japan
Ryu hardly ever shows emotion. Every once and a while, if his hand is
bad, he'll let out a "Ow..." or "No way, man!" One reason this is
rare is because he usually is dealt a decent hand. Don't plan on
beating him with any high cards, he almost always holds at least a
pair.
Mashima bets aggressively, on a better hand he'll put up $500, on a
weaker on at least $300. He'll usually call any raise you make.
As long as one of the nine world masters hasn't been defeated, The Kid's
picture will appear in the good ole U.S. of A. Now, however, it's
replaced by the King, a pink-haired, pink-eyed gambling maniac. Beat
him at all his games, and The Kid will take over as the new King of
the Casino!
Name : The King

Betting Range : $1000-$10000

\Roulette\
You first take on the King in roulette. Be advised that you can't win
over a million dollars here, so there's no reason to wear the King
down before going for a big payoff. You will want to go for a
straight bet; there's nothing like having a cushion of a million bucks
before entering the next two phases of the contest. Here's his list of tips:
Phrase | Possible Outcomes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Don't be in a hurry kid." | 19 - 36
| Common nos. 24, 26, 28, 33, 34
|
"Concentrate!" | A number in the 2nd twelve.
| Com. nos. 13, 14, 17, 18, 21, 24
|
"Well, what shall I do?" | A number in the 1st column.
| Common nos. 19, 25, 28, 34
|
"Let's just enjoy the game." | A number in the 3rd column.
| Common nos. 9, 15, 30
|
"I'll hit 15 next, do you believe me?" | An odd number.
| Common nos. 15, 17, 19, 27
|
"I'll be serious from now on." | 0, 1, 13, 27
|
"Win or lose, that's roulette." | A number in the 2nd column.
| Common nos. 8, 14, 32
|
"Next spin will be the end of you." | 1 - 18
| Common nos. 1, 7, 13
|
"There is nothing you can do, kid." | A number in the 1st twelve
| Common nos. 1, 4, 12
|
"I am not faking, just trust me." | Common nos. 5, 14
|

\Blackjack\
Unfortunately, this is where the fun ends for now; the blackjack
round is mindnumbingly tedious.
In blackjack, the King just overmatches you. Pray to Jeebus that the
game ends quickly, even though it won't. A continuous stream of 13's,
14's, 15's, and 16's fall on your side of the table. Every time you
decide to hit, it seems like you bust. Stand, and the King claims an
easy victory.
This will test all the skill you've built up until now. You'll still
want to double down, although you won't overwhelmingly win as you
might have in previous matches. You might want to keep away from
splits, as you'll immediately be faced with not one, but two
in-between hands.
Also, keep in mind that you don't have to go for 17 or over every
time. Hanging back on 15's and 16's, sometimes even 14's, is wise, it
keeps you in the game and gives the King a chance to bust. Play smart.
Hang in there and try to wear the King down. There aren't any
shortcuts here, as he steadfastly refuses to bet all his money.
Usually, betting the max every time, the King's fortune will swell to
somewhere around $300000, frustrating the crap out of you. At this
point, though, you should slowly but surely start winning, taking him
back down to less than $100000. He'll hang on towards the end, but
after a small struggle he'll succumb. Victory will take patience.
_____________________________
\Poker\
In contrast, the poker round is quite easy. The King doesn't show
much emotion. If he gets a really bad hand he'll say "..." Sometimes
he'll also say "Alright!!" but this is a bluff; he won't necessarily
have a good hand.
The Kings luck is not that great; he'll come up with a fair share of
high cards. Around 15% of the time he'll get two pair or better.
You will also get dealt better cards in this round, coming up with
quite a few two pair or even full houses. Just bet conservatively if
you don't have much; if you have a good hand, max out the King.
Its okay to fold if you initially get a lousy hand, but if you proceed
past the draw, you might as well pay to see the King's cards.
Note that if you get the King down in money and you bet more than he
has, you automatically win.
In poker, for some reason, you can earn more than a million dollars,
not that it matters much now.
