                            1.Introduction

Released by Athena on 21-Nov-97 this is the 5th Mahjong game on the N64. The 極
Kiwame of the title means extreme, climax, culmination, zenith, or nadir. It is
part of a long running series that started on the SNES in 1993. In my opinion
this is one of the more boring Mahjong games on the system since it features
real players and has no kind of story mode. This game was truly made for middle
aged men.

Mahjong came to Japan from China, and it exists in numerous forms. The 4 player
Riichi version is most popular in Japan. It can be compared to the Western card
game rummy. An explanation of how to play Mahjong is far beyond the scope of
this guide, but I recommend Light Grunty’s youtube channel and this free book by
Daiana Chiba:

I also recommend downloading the Yaku (winning hands) cheat sheet from
worldriichi dot org.
