1. Introduction
Ever since I bought Killer Instinct on Gameboy from my friend, I’ve
been obsessed with it. So, I thought, why not try Killer Instinct Gold?
So I rented it, and am writing a FAQ on it. Hope this will help people.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. Updates
6/03/02 - Finished everything except a few options I don't know of and
some endings. If anyone can get those endings for me word for word, or
figure out the options I don't know, I'd appriciate it. Meanwhile this
FAQ is nearly complete.
11/22/00 – Finished Tusk’s moves. I forgot about the list of the rock
paper scissors thing...gah. I’ll do it when I have time. But for now,
I’m sending it in.
11/21/00 – Finished Orchid’s, and TJ Combo’s moves. Did Tusk’s
specials... Okay, I’ll finish it in the morning...I promise...I’ll get
up earlier than normal...have to...stupid dentist...and finish it, and
send it in. With God’s help...
11/20/00 – Finished Kim Wu’s, and Maya’s moves. Just 3 left...let’s try
to finish the rest tomorrow and send it in, as day after next I’m gonna
rent 2 games...also did a few specials for Orchid.
11/19/00 – Did Fulgore’s moves, Gargos’ moves, and some of Kim Wu’s
specials. 26 pages now...my gosh, this is getting pretty darn
large...very so...
11/18/00 – Finished Spinal’s supers and finishers. 4 down, 7 to go. Hoo
boy...
11/17/00 – Finished Spinal’s specials. Man alive this is a big FAQ...
11/16/00 – So, it was in the morning I realized that I skipped some
stuff on math...do it over, and forget doing this in the morning after
all. Dandy. Did more tonight, had more time. Finished Sabrewulf,
started Spinal.
11/15/00 – Agh. Did some Sabrewulf moves, but not many. Too much
homework...darn...well, I’ll try to do more tomorrow. If I would just
wake up at 7 in the morning and start on it immediately and go till
breakfast, which afterwards starts school, I’d get lots done. Maybe...
11/14/00 – Finished options, and did more moves, and realized this is
going to be my biggest FAQ yet. Took the game back, in
tears...err...n/m about that last part...and incase you wondered, I
solved my money dilemma. They hadn’t even heard of the Killer Instinct
comics, so I just got Spectacular Spider Man #200, Darkhawk #1 and #13.
Well, now I’m broke, and am going to have to hurry and get some more
money to get my friend a present...I better get him one, with him being
my altogether best friend in the world...known each other since we were
itty bitty kiddos...err....uhm...again....just ignore that...
11/13/00 – Did the menus for the rock paper scissors thing, and started
options. One last day until I take it back to Blockbuster...I just have
to get this. GameXChange is cheap usually...and I will be close
tomorrow...I JUST NEED MORE THAN $5 BUCKS...grr...I’ll just keep
saving. Maybe buy that, maybe save a year and buy a GameCube, maybe
just blow it all on comics tomorrow (if I find some Killer Instinct
comics or Street Fighter comics tomorrow at a store with comics, I’m
almost assuredly going to buy them, depending on price..) maybe get a
friend a birthday present (most likely) maybe get friends Christmas
presents (how the heck I could do all my friends I have no idea...might
just go poke cards for my friends obsessed with Pokemon, and genesis
game for those who aren’t dead obsessed...weird. All my friends who
don’t care too much for pokemon have a sega genesis...all 2 of them. :b
11/12/00 – Well it didn’t get put up. Bah. It wasn’t done yet anyway.
Did the stages for the characters. Also finished the profile info for
all the characters.
11/11/00 – Did the intro, updates, finished learning types of moves and
what they do, codes, more moves, end, and legal stuff, and sent in the
first version. Let’s keep those fingers crossed...
11/10/00 – Started the moves and learning types of moves
11/9/00 – Started the FAQ with bits of outlining things
3.Learning types of moves and what they do:
So, you just see Killer Instinct 2 at an arcade, or see Killer Instinct
Gold on N64 for rental and try it. You have no idea whatsoever what all
the words mean that will appear, or maybe a friend is talking to you
about this game and is using terms that you think only apply to
jugglers at the circus. Hopefully, this will help you know what they
mean, and how to do them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Techniques you need to know for fighters in general, not just KI
gold/2:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Special:
You won’t see this flashing across the screen, but something you have
to learn. Not just for this game, but for fighters in general. If you
don’t know this, you are going to be in great doodoo. A special is a
attack that isn’t done by just tapping a button. It is done by certain
joystick (arcade) or button (consoles) movement and hits of specific
buttons. No, you can’t go “Up down punch” to do one. It can be easy,
and sometimes difficult, depending on the special. 2 movements that are
going to almost always do something on at least one character in the
game are “down, downright, right and punch at the same time”, and
“right, down, downright punch”. Not always, so don’t kill me if you’ve
played a game where it doesn’t have those to do specials. I’m just
talking about most. This game does, but back to general fighting game
things. Other times, it will be much more complex. It depends on the
game and character.
---
Combo:
This is what you will most likely see the most. A combo is a
combination of attacks, quickly blended together, without sitting there
doing nothing inbetween. Just a quick series of attacks. To do a combo,
you have to somehow start attacking fast and furious, not stopping.
It’s not always as easy as it sounds. I mean, sure. Anyone can throw
together a quick “punch, punch, kick” type thing. That isn’t a combo.
It usually involves starting off with some sort of special, and
continuing, attacking with normal attacks as well as specials, supers,
and other types of attacks. The more hits you can cram in, the more
damage (obviously) it will do. Attacks that launch the opponent in the
air will end the combo, unless you can keep juggling them (juggling
will be talked about in a moment, so hold on) in the air. Which brings
us up to another subject.
---
Juggling
Juggling is what you do when you one way or another keep the opponent
in the air without letting them hit the ground. When they hit the
ground, the juggling is over. There are various ways to juggle, such as
with Glacius in this game, a good example is doing his “Liquidize”
move. But not just that. Oh no. That will launch them in the air. BUT,
now for the second and more complex to learn how, but once you know
will be easy part. Keeping them in the air. You can do this numerous
ways. Sometimes it’s as easy as just fireballing it like no tomorrow
and keeping it in the air. Other times it’s just using the same attack
repeatedly that knocked them in the air in the first place, such as you
can do, again, with Glacius and his “Liquidize” move. BTW, if you think
I’ve talked enough about Glacius and should talk about others such as
Fulgore and use examples besides just Glacius whenever I can, get used
to it. Cuz it ain’t gonna stop. ^_^
---
Health Bar: No this has nothing to do with fruit slushies, stools, and
sky-high prices. The health bar is your energy bar, how far it is until
you are knocked out you could say. This can be used in different ways
in different games, such as street fighter 2 just having that bar, and
that’s it. When you are done, you are done. But for Killer Instinct
Gold/2, It’s not like that. Your health bar is actually 2 health bars.
When the first part gets emptied, the second part takes it’s place and
refills it right off. It’s not just you that has this, opponents do
too, so don’t think it’s a “player gets advantage so no matter how much
they are crap, they still win” type thing like I’ve seen in some games.
It’s like this for everyone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Types of specials/supers
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Linker
A linker is an attack that can’t be done just standing there doing jack
squat while the opponent is doing something. To do a linker, it must be
in a combo. It can’t be the start of one. It has to be anywhere but the
start of a combo. The middle to the last hit. These usually go by
fairly fast. Not always, but usually very fast. So remember that.
---
Starter
A starter is a starter in a combo. It can’t be used in the beginning or
end of a combo. Just used to start it. It can also be used just as a
single attack, with nothing after it. Basically, it can’t be used
anywhere in a combo but the first attack to start the combo going.
---
Ender
An ender is an attack that can’t be performed normally, but has to be
performed in a combo. It can’t start it. It can be done anywhere after
the first attack in a combo. But it won’t be like a linker. It will end
the combo one way or another. Various ways of enders ending combos are
it knocking the opponent flying away so you can’t hit them again,
knocking them way into the air, and others.
---
Finisher
A finisher isn’t like an ender; a finisher finishes the opponent off.
Period. It is the final attack done to the enemy. You pull it off
various ways. Not many games I have played have finishers. They can be
done by usually movements similar to what a special would be like, for
instance. Other times it can be completely different from a special,
such as Killer Instinct on gameboy, where to do a finisher, you have to
do “left right left right left right left right left right punch/kick”.
Different in every game. Here they are called “out of combo ultimates”
for some stupid reason or another, but I prefer “finisher”, as it is
actually possible to remember, unlike the out of combo ultimate.
---
Clock
The clock are the numbers you see at the top, starting at 99. They go
99 seconds if the timer option is turned on, otherwise they just stay
at 99. If you take enough time to make the time run out, the charicter
who wins will be the one with the most life power. If it’s the same,
it’s a draw. There are no penalties of any sort for taking longer and
making the clock run over. Except the fact that you can’t quite say “I
KILLED GARGOS” because really you can’t say that, without mentioning
the fact that your timer ran out...unless you don’t have a concince.
Like some people who are at my arcade...*remembers the guy who once
kicked the NFL Blitz machine as hard as he could and walked off because
he lost at it* Strangely though it still works fine...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Things that might be in others, but not all, but are in KI gold/2
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shadow move
A shadow move isn’t just a move where you see a black thing in the
shape of you in the background, stupid. A shadow move is usually going
to be great for comboing, and will do more damage than normal. So how
do you know if you are doing one? If you have a large trail behind you
of yourself, you know you are doing one. Trust me, you’ll notice it.
It’s pretty hard to miss, infact...if you miss one, you must be
blind...
---
Power bar/bar thingy
No, not the health bar, but the power bar. This is underneath your
health bar. See those little squares? Not yet? That’s normal. They
appear by taking damage of all sorts, blocking damage of all sorts,
inflicting damage and having it blocked or hit. If a combo, the longer
it goes and the more damage it does, the more blocks you will gain.
Now, what is the point to them? Read on...just keep reading...SCROLL
DOWN, YOU IDIOT!!!
---
Super moves
Supers are done by using your blocks on the power bar. These moves are
like specials, but usually are better, and take 6 blocks away from the
power bar. They can be used in combos, I believe.
---
Transition moves
These are moves which can be turned into another in the middle,
canceling out the first move altogether. Its easier to do this than to
cancel a subscription to National Geographic...which isn’t easy...they
still send me stuff saying that I must have forgot...IT’S BEEN NEARLY A
YEAR!!! BUTT OFF!!!
And thus with these final words, this section is complete...the final
words being “Butt off”...okey.....great....
4. Move lists in alphabetical order:
Know what you want to print out, but don’t want to print out everyone
else’s moves? Simply highlight what you want to print, then go to print
options and do selection...I bet most everyone knows this, but just
incase...Thanks to a friend for showing me this...if he sees this,
he’ll know I’m referring to him. If he doesn’t...well...I’ll be
surprised...
NOTE! PLEASE READ BEFORE READING ANY FARTHER!!!
If you are on the left side, perform the moves I have listed. If on the
other, reverse left and right.
The advanced and deadlier successor to the original Fulgore cyborg
destroyed by Jago. Activated after the time jump, its final Ultratech
commands are executed... find Jago and kill him
My thoughts:
If you’ve played Street Fighter, you know about how that Ryu and Ken
are the same almost. Well in Killer Instinct, Fulgore and Jago are the
Ryu and Ken. Except Ryu never could shoot lasers out of his eyes...:b
they do have good differences however. But they both have a fireball,
both have a dragon punch (refering to Street Fighter again) type
attack, both have an attack to quickly rush up to opponents and start a
combo (ex: Jago windkick Fulgore Cyberdash) and other similarities.
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+Specials+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=
Cyberdash: |/, \/, \| Middle kick/Fierce kick
The kick you use will make you do the move differently. If you use
middle kick it will do squat and make you inch forwards. If you use
fierce it will make you go fairly far. Good for starting combos. And
not much else but that.
---
Electro Reflect: \/, |/, <- Quick kick (hold it for it to last longer)
It reflects back fireballs.
---
Eyelaser: \|, \/, |/ Middle punch/Fierce punch
Very good attack. Middle punch makes it not go out very far, but just a
smidget in front of you, fierce makes it go out far to hit the opponent
wherever he is. What the point is to using middle punch I don’t know in
the least.
---
Fake Laser Storm: \/, |/, <- Quick punch
Tricky attack that won’t do squat for damage, but is going to fool
opponents and let you sometimes get a combo in on them while they
thought you were going to be in a fireball move for a moment.
---
Laser Storm: \/, \|, -> Any punch
The punch you use chooses how quick it goes. Quick makes it go slow,
middle makes it go at a medium speed, and fierce makes it go at a quick
speed.
---
Plasma Slice: ->, \/, \| Any punch
The punch you use chooses how far up it goes. Quick goes up a ways,
medium goes up decently, and fierce goes up very high.
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=Supers=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=
Air Eye Laser: /\, (do the following while still in the air) \|, \/, |/
Fierce punch
This is a useful little attack. I think it does more damage than a
normal Eye laser. Say bye-bye to 1 block.
---
Cloak: \/, |/, <- Fierce kick
Cool little attack that makes you nearly invisible. It slowly drains
the block bar thing. So just remember not to use this very often. Do
the same thing to get out of it.
---
Lock On: <-, |/, \/, \|, -> Quick kick
This makes you lock on to the opponent. What does this do? Keep looking
through the super moves...1 block.
---
Plasmaport: <-, \/, |/ Any attack
The attack you choose will teleport you to different positions. 1
block.
---
Super Plasma Slice: \/, |/, <-, |/, \/, \|, -> Fierce punch
This takes away a whopping 6 blocks. Lots especially compared to his
other 1 block taken away supers...
---
Triple Laser Storm: \/, |/, \/, \|, -> Quick punch
You quickly shoot 3 Laser Storms at the opponent. To do this, you
_must_ be locked on.
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=Finishers=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
Heavy Artillery: ->, <-, |/, \/, \|, -> Middle kick
Really cool looking attack. Somewhat hard to pull off.
---
Laser: <-, |/, \/, \|, -> Middle punch
A laser comes down from the sky and if it hits the opponent, makes them
splatter into lots of blood. Strange, even when blood is turned off it
does this...
Ending: Fulgore has triumphed over the enemies of Ultratech. The
advance prototype has succeeded where it’s predecessor has failed. With
no enemies to stand in the way, a powerful army is created. The doomed
earth will fall to the merciless Ultratech.
My thoughts:
The final boss, available with a code. Check the code section for it.
He can’t be used in training or focused training, and doesn’t have a
profile sheet like the others do. Hard to use well, takes lots of
practice. I didn’t quite understand how to use him well...He seemed
more like a smash the buttons as quick as you can type character for
me...and hardly ever do I have to resort to button smashing...
Air Jumping Overhead Slam: (While using Fly) |/, \/, \| Any kick
Like the normal Jumping Overhead Slam, except in the air while flying.
---
Combo Breaker: \/, \|, -> Any attack
A combo breaker. Ooh, I’m wetting myself over the excitement of it. Oh
joy. Wee hee hee. I am so thrilled... =b
---
Flame: \/, \|, -> Quick punch
Helpful every once in a while.
---
Fly: /\ (while still in the air) Fierce punch
You can move from side to side. Also, you can do certain attacks like
this...
---
Jumping Overhead Slam: /\, (while still in the air) |/, \/, \| Any kick
Kool attack, and is fairly useful.
---
Laugh: \|, \/, |/ Fierce punch
This will knock back fireball attacks.
fast.
Another throw. Nothing to see, keep going.
Simple, and sometimes quite useful.
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+Specials+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
Arctic Blast: \/, |/, <- any punch
A projectile, in which you can choose the speed. To do so, press the
weakest punch to make it go slow, medium for medium speed, and fierce
punch to make it go fast. Very useful.
---
Cold Shoulder: \/, |/, -> Medium punch
A quick attack where you ram the opponent with your shoulder. Speedy,
and excellent for starting combos.
---
Combo breaker: \/, \|, -> Any attack
A combo breaker. The beef is in the title. THE FAT IS IN THE SENTENCE
BELOW!!! Eh...okay...
---
Energy Gain: \/, |/, -> Quick kick
You turn into a puddle, like you do in the “Liquidize” move. Although
this time, it doesn’t attack. You just sit there. The opponent _can_
hit you like this. During the time you sit there though, you slowly
gain health. The longer you sit there, the more health you can gain.
---
Ice Lance: \/, \|, -> Fierce punch
Your hand turns into a lance, and you try to hit the opponent with it.
It sends them flying. Great attack, very sneaky if done right when the
opponent is getting very close.
---
Icy Grip: \/, \|, -> Weak punch
If close enough when doing this move, it will grab the opponent and
pull him towards you. During this time he can’t attack. After a moment,
he will fall out of your hand, closer to you. Now before he does,
quickly start attacking. Perfect way to start combos.
---
Liquidize: \/, \|, -> Medium Kick/fierce kick
In this move, you turn into a puddle, and move quickly toward the
opponent, then when you get to them, while coming back up, uppercut
them. The kick you choose makes it go quicker or slower. Medium kick is
the slower speed, fierce is the quicker. Good attack, and very sneaky.
Also pretty useful in combos.
Quick, pretty strong, great variety of attacks, easy specials, overall
possibly the best character in the game. Just one thing gets me.
Doesn’t George Lucas know that lots of people are using lightsabers in
Diagonal Air Fireball: /\, (while still in the air do the following)
|/, <- Any punch
A fireball you can execute during a jump.
Pretty good attack.
Fireflower: \/, \|, ->  Quick punch
You make a flash close to you. Looks pretty neat when you do it.
A rolling attack where you move forwards a ways. You can go under
fireballs, and behind opponents this way.
_Very_ good attack. Rather good for comboing.
Air Jungle Leap: ->, <- Quick kick
Somewhat useful.
---
Air Mantis: Jungle Leap, ->, <- Fierce punch
You probably are wondering what I mean by Jungle Leap up there. You
must be in the air from doing a Jungle Leap to perform this.
---
Cobra Bite: <-, -> Quick punch
A small little attack that is semi-good. I don’t really like it that
much. But I do like it somewhat...Maya has better attacks though.
---
Flip Kick: <-, -> Middle kick
Mostly useful in combos, quite lousy single.
---
Jungle Leap: <-, -> Fierce kick
An attack where you leap over the opponent. Most likely you will at
least...
---
Mantis: <-, -> Fierce punch
Good attack, quite useful single and comboed.
---
Savage Blades: <-, -> Middle punch
An attack with Maya slashing wildly with her blades. Good for comboing.
Much smaller version of the Jungle Leap. This won’t get you launched
A fake howl, to trick people. Not the most useful thing, but very
Small projectile. Morons like T. J. Combo will sometimes get killed if
you keep using this. They just keep coming towards you, you just do it
again. Enemies with projectiles won’t be killed that easily by doing
this. Just keep doing his. Although it really isn’t fair to Combo with
walking into fire coming out of a skeleton’s shield. Poor little
6. Codes
There are codes for this game. To use them, wait on the title screen
until it goes to any character’s profile sheet. During this time, press
the corresponding buttons to the code.
Play as Gargos:
Press Z, A, R, Z, A, B. You will hear a laugh if you got it right.
See credits:
Press Z, L, A, Z, A, R. You will see the credits.
Every option:
Press Z, B, A, L, A, Z. If you did it right, the guy who says things in
the game such as “Killer Instinct” on the title screen will say
“perfect”.
More colors:
To get the colors you would normally have to earn by doing training
mode, press Z, B, A, Z, A, L. If done correctly, the guy mentioned
above will say “welcome”.
7. Levels
Every character has a level that is designed for it in specific. This
is a list of all of them, and if there is a place to knock them off,
where.
Fulgore – Laboratory
This is where Fulgore was made. All kinds of things are in this level,
such as a big hole in the center in the background which I don’t think
does anything, a door on the left which is unimportant, and then
doohickeys which you can’t do anything to. But close to the center are
some polls that can be broken.
Gargos – Castle walkway
On the castle where Gargos lives, a walkway goes across an area. Finish
with a combo, and end it in a launcher to knock him off the castle to
his death.
Glacius – Crash landing site
Where Glacius landed from the crash he had in the first Killer Instinct
game. There is a part of the wing broken off but hanging by a single
bar of metal on the ship I think you can break off. When I got in a
position to hit it, it swung, which I’m pretty sure means it can break
off, but considering I had nearly killed Glacius on hard mode, and had
taken about 20 minutes to get him down to this little health, I decided
against experimenting. If anyone can confirm this, it would be greatly
appreciated.
Jago – Mountain bridge
Over a gaping hole you fight, with door type things that look like they
would be to a shrine to the left and right. If you finish with a
launcher, it will knock them off into the gaping hole.
Kim Wu – Mountain shrine
A shrine out in the mountains, with a big gaping gap in an area.
Perform a combo next to it to knock off Kim Wu. Not much else, but it’s
kinda neat with the snow.
Maya – Amazon Jungle
Here you are out in the jungle. There are things in the background, and
temples to the left and right. Not much here. About your most simple
level.
Orchid – Rooftop helipad
On top of a skyscraper, you are on the rooftop, with helicopters all
over the area. There is a part near the left side, where if you combo
near the edge and knock the orange cones away, and combo and finish
with a launcher attack on the last bit of Orchid’s health by the gap,
she will fall off.
Sabrewulf – Mansion
Where Sabrewulf lives. If you do combos near the right wall, you will
notice a chandelier will shake. Do combos really close to break the
wall. Then you can access an outer platform outside. Do combos at the
edge, and make the last one that kills Sabrewulf launch him into the
air to knock him off.
Spinal – Ghost ship
A ghost ship, with skeletons rowing the ores and singing. The walls are
sturdy and unbreakable. The mast has a skull on it. Finish with a
launcher on either side to knock them over.
T. J. Combo – Back alley
A back alley by a train station. Lights will flash when a train is
going by, but you can’t get close to it. It’s a ways off. The walls
closing you in are all sturdy, but there are trash cans you can knock
over.
Tusk – Forest arena
An arena in the forest. Nothing much here except it’s interesting how
that it seems to keep pushing you along when doing a combo. You’ll see
what I mean when Tusk does combos on the ground that are in the 34 hit
neighborhood. Usually does them when it’s hard, very hard, or master
difficulty.
8. Options menu
With all the complicated options on the options menu on Killer Instinct
Gold, I decided hey, why not list them all and what they do, and my
personal preference? So, here it is!
Speed – Slow/normal/fast/ultra/ludicrous
This chooses how quick the game will go. I like it on ludicrous, but
sometimes slow seems better.
Difficulty – Very Easy/Easy/Normal/Hard/Very Hard/Master
Here you can choose the general difficulty of the main game. I use hard
so I can see the endings completely, as normal just shows the first
half, and I can’t do jack squat on master.
Training Difficulty – Easy/normal/hard
This lets you choose how hard training mode will be. I go easy.
Button setup
Here you can choose how you want your buttons. I personally like a <- C
button Fierce kick, \/ C button Strong punch, -> C button Middle punch,
/\ C button Middle kick, R Weak punch and L Weak kick. You can do it
any way you want though.
Default setup
This will automaticly change the controls back to what the default was.
I find it rather hard to try to stretch my hand all over the right
portion of the controller, thank you very much Rare.
Game load and save options
Here you can save your game onto a controller pak, and that sort of
stuff.
Music – High/Medium
If you want blaring loud music (which I sure do) turn it on high. If
you want more background music, so you can hardly hear it with all the
screams and “UGH!” “HUH!” etc, then turn it on medium.
Random After – Off/1 win/2 wins/3 wins/4 wins/5 wins/6 wins/7 wins/8
wins/9 wins
I don’t have a clue as to what this does.
Blood – None/low/middle/high
Here you can choose if you want blood splattering all over the place,
or a much less gory fighting game. Your choice. It doesn’t affect
anything like attacks; it just makes blood come out as an extra. I turn
it off.
                               Level 1
Throw Damage – low/normal/high/none
This lets you choose how much damage will occur from throwing someone.
Unless I’m mistaken, it doesn’t affect the computer’s throws at all.
Crud...well, so much for an advantage over Glacius’ love of doing
combos with throws on me...feh..
Easy Breakers – on/off
Huh? Easy _combo_ breakers? I don’t get this exactly...I couldn’t
figure this out. Just was the same for me on breaking combos. Anyone
know what this does?
Invisible Tag – On/off
Weird option that lets you make it a game of tag, where once one person
is hit, they become invisible. When they hit the other person, the
other person is invisible. Strange, but interesting. Don’t use it if
you are trying to have a real fighting game. Use it more for
multiplayer fun if you both aren’t dead set on a serious fighting game.
For more of a joking game, use this. Just remember, don’t throw
fireballs without moving, as they will see where you were from where
you threw them... I prefer this off.
Aerial Cam – On/off
This will make the camera zoom out and do a fixed shot. One of the
things that made Killer Instinct Gold so unique for me was the camera
moving with you, so I personally hate the option. I never use it. But
it might seem easier to you having a fixed size camera.
                               Level 2
Full Super Bar – On/off
I personally love this option. With this, it cuts out the earning part
for earning the square things, and lets you just have it go back to
full again and again after supers! It fills up from the start of the
match. I turn this on all the time.
Full Breakers
Another option I have no idea what the hell it’s supposed to do. If
anyone knows what this does, email me and tell me...wonder if all this
was in the instructions...I have no idea, as ALBERSONS USUALLY HAS THE
INSTRUCTIONS STOLEN FROM ALL THE GAMES!! Geez...hardly anyone even
rents games there, but they have the instructions stolen nonetheless.
Well, it was a free rental, so I really can’t beat that...Blockbuster
is even worse at having instructions...last time I checked Video Update
didn’t keep with their pay 5 dollars if you take instructions
policy...the staff said that straight out to me. I never take
instructions, and I said that. It was right when they said that a kid
walked in to look at renting games...wonder about if he kept the
instructions for the Gex on Playstation game or not...
Powered finishers – on/off
GAH!! MORE STUPID OPTIONS I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT!! Sheesh... again, tell
me if you know what it does...
                               Level 3
Missiles  - On/off
This turns on/off fireball attacks.
Fast fireballs – On/off
This I do know what it does...:b This makes the fireballs speed up
loads, so they go across the screen incredibly fast. I love this
option!
Autodoubles – On/off
This turns off autodoubles. Agh, these really help you if they are
turned on. Leave them on unless you want quite a different game..
                               Level 4
Early Ultimates – On/off
Yes and no. It makes it easier if you know lots of ultimates, if you
don’t, yer in for a one way ticket to Hell. This lets you and the
computer use ultimates when your health or his health is down to just
red. Not flashing red, red. Tusk especially seems to take advantage of
this...Kim Wu every once in awhile, but Tusk will go ultimate overboard
if the thing is turned on...just keep that in mind.
Knockdowns – On/off
Certain attacks knock you down when you're hit with them. With it
turned off, you don't ever fall down from them.
Quick openers – On/off
No idea, tell me if you know. That line is getting the slightest bit
repetitive...
Cheap Juggles – On/off
This lets you hit opponents in the air like normal juggles, but it lets
you cheaply jump up straight, kick him in the air while he lands, he
bounces up a ways, you do it again, and keep going forever. Useful.
Sometimes it is at least...if you have a friend who likes to be cheap
as heck, this is going to annoy you so much...
                               Level 5
Blocking – On/off
This will let you turn off blocking all together. Now you will have to
time jumps over projectiles, and altogether, have an extremely hard
game. Not a fun option, but if you need more challenge...this is what
you should choose...I never use this.
9. End
Well. The end of the FAQ. Hope this will help people.
Thanks to...
CGrey, Dr Dogg, HSeijas, Kombo, KJobst, and IceMaster for having good
FAQs on the game which helped me immensely. Major thanks to HSeijas
because of the correct move names, and for having an excellent FAQ
when I was new to the game, which I used much. Thanks to all of you!
10. Legal stuff
This FAQ is not to be used on any websites besides:
http://www.gamefaqs.com
All other sites can forget using it. I’ve decided that this is the
only one site that is really truly responsible enough about keeping up with
updates, and is done professionally enough. So don’t even ask. I’ll
either ignore it or say no.
