1-Updates

Version 0.6
I am going to get all the ending personaly. Finally got around to make my item
list in order.

Version 0.5
I added a Mini game setion and added how to get back to the boat if you went
back before you drained the swamp. New ending. I need more ending so please
e-mail me.

Version 0.4
My e-mail was is down so I couldn't update as ofhen or answer e-mails at all.
I Beat the game one 07/12/99 at 4:53Pm. Ya Now I have to get all the endings
so if you get an ending that I don't have please e-mail me. Added some new
items and a new character.

Version 0.3
Thank you all who e-mailed me to help, I got off the Island. Updated the
walkthrougth. There is a new objective. Get the gems! Got all but 2.
Added to the Q+A.

Version 0.2
I got into the Cave and out. Got the axe. Made the radio work. Made my
raft. New items. Typhoon hit I have to repair the house. Unlocked a
MINI GAME!!! I am now stuck.

This is the first version. I have all the basics and the first bit of

2-My Ten Cents (Canadian)

In my opinion this is one the most original games for the gameboy. If
you had to read Lord of the Flies (they are called books kids you read
they, remember?) in High School and liked it you will love this game.
It is worth picking up.

This is the first walkthrough I have ever wrote so if you think it
sucks, screw off you can get your info from Techni (also available at
www.gamefaqs.com).

The e-mails are pouring in. I am happy to help you and even happier that
you have helped me. Special thanks to Brian Kerr, Chansey (You explained
it well), and Pooh that's who.

3-The story

The story is pretty simple. Your father takes you on a cruise for
your 10th birthday (oddly you are the only people on board this
huge ship). Your gift is a knife. I bet dad never thought this knife
would be a key to your survival. When a storm hits your boat is sinks.
After a while you awoke by a monkey on an Island. Thus the game begins.

4-Characters

You - You are a 10 year old boy or girl depending on the choice you
made in the beginning. your stuck on this Island fighting to survive.

Your Father - Little is known about your father accepted that he is
believed to be dead

The Monkey - he may seem annoying at first but later on he becomes your
friend.

The Other Kid - another person is on the island. The kid is the oppisite sex
then you. He/she gives you a Gem. You need to cheer him/her up.

5-Items

This section will have a complete list of all the items and the different
things you can make from them.

Tools and Weapons
-Arrow - used with the bow.
-Axe - you can chop stuff.
-Big Stick - this bigger stick is used as a lever to move rocks.
-Bow - used to kill bigger animals.
-Canteen - store water in this for future use, you have to fill it.
-Fishing rod - Duh! you fish with it.
-Kindling - lets you stat a fire.
-Knife - allows you to cut grass and kill animals.
-Umbrella leaf - used as an umbrella.
-Torch - lets you see in the cave.

Important Items(useable)
-Big rock - throw into water to get a mini game and it is used as a hammer.
-Big leaf - used to patch the hole in the roof burn to make smoke.
-Eye gem - opens up the path to the East Island.
-Gems - they unlook the ship.
-Keys - there are 3 keys in the Palace, the Star Key, Moon Key, and the Sun Key.
-Panel - Used to finish the puzzle in the Palace.
-Pendant - belongs to the other kid, has a picture inside (purpose unknown)
-Radio - lets you listen for ships.

Building materials
-Bark - used to make stuff.
-Battery - for the radio.
-Big Stick - this bigger stick is used as a lever to move rocks.
-Stick - this item is used to make may items.
-Ivy - this is used like a string.
-Feather - this is used to make some items.
-Fish gut - part of the fishing rod.
-Flex tree - a flexible stick used to make other items.
-Lumber - Used to fix the house.
-Nail - used to build the raft and fix the house.
-Piece of iron - part of the axe.
-Pionty rock - used to make the arrow.
-Plain rock - used as a hammer and to make stuff.
-Sap - used in the torch.

Useless Items
-Baseball gear - useless.
-Big Fan - Useless
-Broom - purpose unknown.
-Flint - you can light a fire with it but you are too superstitious to use it(that sucks)
-Matches - wet so you can't use them.
-Skipping rope - useless.
-Whip - useless.

Eatable Items

Grass
-----
-Sharp grass - Ups your level.
-Dry grass - makes you thristy.
-Short grass - paralyzes you.
-Damp grass - Spice.
-Thin grass - Cures you.

Meat
----
-Animal Meat - Can't eat until cooked.
-Clam - Paralyzes you if not cooked.
-Fish - Big and small fisk need to be cook before eaten.
-Egg - cook it to make the a fried egg.

Note: all meats should be cooked

Fruits, Berries and stuff
-------------------------
-Hard Fruit - restores your thirst.
-Slick Fruit - hunger subsides.
-Sweet Fruit - recovers fatiuge.

-Big berry - Raises you helth.
-Hard berry - recovers fatuge
-Soft berry - Spice.
-Round berry - hunger subsides.

Honey - Raises you helth.

Note: every thing but berries and honey will go bad.

Mushrooms

Colored mushrooms - Poisoned
Hlw Mushrooms - Raises you helth.
Plain mushrooms - confuses you (you can't control what direction you go in)
Soft Mushrooms - hunger subsides

Note: Cooking mushroom will not change their effect.

How to Make...

Arrow = stick + feather + pointed rock
Axe = stick + piece of iron
Baseball gear = stick + rock
Big fan = Big stick + big leaf
Bow = flex tree + ivy
Broom = stick + big leaf (Techni)
Costume = feather + ivy (John Migliaro)
Fishing rod = thread and hook + flex tree
Flint = 2 rocks
Hammer = Iron chunk (not the piece) + stick
Kindling = stick + bark (Techni)
Mask = Bark + ivy
Preserved food = cooked food + one of the fruits (the spicey one) (Techni)
Skipping = 2 sticks + ivy
Star Key = Star Key(R) + Star Key (L)
Torch = stick + sap
Whip = stick + ivy (Techni)

6-The Basics

Controls:

A - pick an item, select in the menu.
B - use an equiped item, exit on the menu.
Start - brings up the menu.
Select - a weird arrow thing.

Your health:

You can check your health on the sub-screen. It is split into five
parts:

L = Level, the higher the number, the more healthy you are
H = Hunger, the higher, the less hungry you are
W = Water, the higher, the less thirsty you are
F = Fatigue, the lower the number, the less tired you are

Note: Be careful about what you eat you can be poisoned.

You can regain hearts by sleeping. This will only work if you are in
good health.

Items:

You can store items in your Knapsack and in the box in the cabin. To
make new items you need to combine other ones. Up to 3 items can be combined
together. Check section 5 for how to make certain items.

Note: Food goes bad over night.

Saving:
You can only save in the house or the home away for home (the hut near the
water past the river). you can save up to 3 games. I suggest that you save
in 2 slots. one slot ever day an another slot every 4-5 days so if you make
a mistake you can go back to fix it.

7-Walkthorugh

After you wake up get your Knapsack, it is in one on the sand dunes. It contains:
-Knife
-Radio
-Matches
Now equip the knife and the cut the bushes to the right to get the canteen.
Get the stick and head left. Cut the bush and head into the jungle
Note: DO NOT EAT THE CLAMS

On the first screen cut the bush and get the feather (need it to make
the arrow later) and the bark. Merge the bark and the stick to make the kindling.
You now have the power of FIRE. You can now cook food. To do this put the food
into your Knapsack and then start a fire then select the item and burn it. Head to
the left as far as you can go. Cut the bush in the lower right hand corner. You will
get a stick. Now cut the bush on the top of the screen and head up. You will find a
house. It makes you go inside but it won't let you save until the next day.

NOTE: If it is raining you can cook your food in a cave

First thing you should do is save the game. Then go explore the island.
Head up then to the right. You will find the river, dink some water and
fill your canteen. You should also get something to eat. I suggest some berries
or kill a small animal the cook it with a fire. Get all the items in the area
there is:
-Big Rock
-Flex tree
-Ivy
-and some other stuff
Merge the Ivy and the Flex tree to make the bow. Fill your canteen Head to right
you will find another beach with a hut (the home away from home) don't sleep there
with out a fire. The animals will steal your food. On the beach there is a flex
tree and the fishing gut. Merge them to make the fishing rod. You may need to get
rid of something to make room for it. Go as far as you can to the right and enter
the swamp.

Not to far in to the swamp you will find the Big stick. Get it. It moves rocks
Note: DO NOT DRINK THE WATER.
Leave the swamp and head to the house to sleep and save.

Now you can move the rock that is up from the house. Head to the left.
Enter the Monkey's Maze

In the Maze the Monkey steals you Knapsack. to find the Monkey go:
UP-RIGHT-DOWN-LEFT
You will the Monkey he will give your Knapsack back, and run. Forget about him.
Go up and get the pointy rock. Merge the Pointy rock, a stick and the feather. to
make an arrow.

Now it is off to the Cave. Before you can enter the cave you need to get the torch.
To make the torch you need to merge the sap and a stick. You will find the sap in
the Monkey maze. It is the on the big tree in teh middle of the first screen. To reach
the cave you must move a rock. It is located above the first rock you moved. To lite
the torch you set a fire then use the torch. to get through the cave keep to one of
the falls you will soo reach the exit. There is another smaller cave right beside the
exit. Use the same tactic to get through the second cave, it is smaller and easier.
You will find a piece of iron. Merge the iron and a stick to make the axe. Use the axe
to cut the pointy bush thing to the right of the caves. The monkey is looking at something.
It is a radio! Take the batteries and merge them with the radio you have. Next you will
see a Water Fall. Beside the Water Fall is the Umbrella Leaf. Get it. Now move the rock
onthe bottom of the screen it leads back to the river. Hurry to the house for some much
needed sleep.
Note: EAT & DRINK OFTEN

The Next morning you will hear that the search has been called off. So you decide to make a
raft. To make the Raft you need:
-4 stacks of lumber
-2 nails
-2 pices of Ivy
-a stone to use as a hammer

Goto the beach to get materials from the reckage. You will find some nails. You can
store them with the log. Now you need lumber. Get the lumber from 4 of those trees you
cut down earlier. there are 2 below your house and 2 to the left of your house. After
you put the frist stack in the log it will start to rain real hard. go back to the house.

In the morning you will find your house has been destroyed by a Typhoon. The Monkey is trapped
under a piece of wreackage. Free him with the big stick. He will become your friend. You get
to name him.

Now that the House the wreaked you need to fix it. To do tis you will need to get:
-a nail
-2 planks
-a big leaf
-a stone to use as a hammer

Get the nail from the wreakage of the boat. The planks are right there on the same screen as the
house. The big leaf is up from the the entrence to the Monkey maze. After you fix the house go
back to fixing the boat.

Before you get build the boat get ready to leave, because your time is limited after you build
boat. before you leave you need:
-some preserved food
-a big berry
-a full canteen
-all your essential items

If you are not ready you will die. If you make it through the ride you will end up on the beach
some of your stuff will be missing, but don't worry it is all near by. Go down and then to the
right pick up the Star Gem. Keep going right, you will find a boat. put the star gem into the
star block. Now go into the boat. Will find a room with a bed and stuff. This is now your home.
You will notice a door opened while you were in the boat. The door is down and to the left.

Note: You can now use the Bow and Arrow

Through the Door is a jungle. All the items are here for you to make alot of stuff you lost.
There is enough for you to make the torch, kindling, the big stick is also there it is hidden
under a bush. The exit is in the bottom left hand corner

Now you will find a swamp. There is an umbrella leaf near by, get it. To get passed the
alligators feed them raw clams. There is also a rock to the leaft if you move it you can get
back to the part of the Island you were on earlier.

*** READ THIS IF YOU WENT BACK TO THE FIRST PART OF THE ISLAND BEFORE DRAINING THE SWAMP ***
If you go back to the first part of the Island you can get back througn a cave hidden in the
Water Fall. you need a piece of ivy and a big stick to make to bridges. To get there you need to
break the rock with an arrow. To get passed the rocks you need to move one down and the other to
the left. Get the ivy by the entrence to the cave you need it to make a bridge later. you should
also bring an extra Big stick because you need it to make a bridge too. There is a one just up
from the entrence. Go in and keep to the left wall. You will reach what looks like a dead end
but it is not. use the ivy to make a bridge between the to spiky rocks. Go across then down and
to the right slightly. If you go up you will find a gap. Use a Big stick to get across. It leads
back to the jungle just down from the boat.

Go down past the frist alligator and the then go up and to the right. You will find a home away
from home and some lily pads, get on the pad. You will have to move a rock to get passed a gap.
Now keep going to the next rock. This time the monkey will fall into the water. He will swim to
an island and get on a lily pad to come back. Go onto the lily pad that the monkey brought over
and get the lily pad on the island. Go down move yet another rock an get on the lily pad. You
will see the SQUARE GEM get on to the island below it and use the lily pad. After you get the
gem the water level will drop.

This allows you to get back from the other part of the Island later. Now that the the water
level is low you can get a chunk of iron that was under the water. Combine it with a stick to
make the hammer. Now you can go back to the first part of the island, to get the rhombus gem. It
is up and to the left of the caves on the first part of the island. To get it you need to cut
down some of those spicky bush things.

Keep going up way up until you find an exit off the screen. It takes you to the mountain top.
There is a hot spring up there that will restore you fatigue. If you go along the right edge
you will see the circle gem. It is out on a limb. When you try to get it it will fall. It
will land in the Water Fall. To get it go down and fish, it will be inside the fish.
Before you go down go up to the to and get the egg out of the tree. What it is for, I don't know.
Now get the CIRCLE GEM and head home. To get home go the the Beach with the first home away from
home and head into the swamp. It is the same swamp that you found the square gem in. On the
first screen on the jungle just before the boat you should find another person. If you picked
the boy at the beginning you find a girl and vice versa. Take them to the boat and feed them
something. They will wake up and give you the OVAL GEM.

NOTE: If there is no one there go back to the house and sleep then walk to the boat.

Now you need to get the TRIANGLE GEM. To get this gem you need to get the eye gem so you can get
to the island. the eye gem is in the desert this is to the right of the swamp. The desert is hot
and all the same. so I can't tall you exactly were it is but I will try. The gem is inside a
statue head. The statue is a little down and to the right. I found 2 groups of 3 statues. the
group farthest to the left had the gem is side. Try to break all the statues you find in the
desert because there may be more than 2 groups. The gem does not go in one of the locks but it
goes in a statue with out the eye. This statue is to the right of the alligators. Put the gem in
the statue and it will open a path to the East Island. There is nothing on the Island but the
TRIANGLE GEM. After you put the Gem in to the lock a Palace will open up.

The Palace is at the end of the Monkey maze. It is locked and you need to get a key. The key is
hidden in a cave behind the Water Fall. To get there you need to break the rock with an arrow.
To get passed the rocks you need to move one down and the other to the left. Get the ivy by the
entrence to the cave you need it to make a bridge later. you should also bring an extra Big
stick because you need it to make a bridge too. There is a one just up from the entrence. Go in
and keep to the left wall. You will reach what looks like a dead end but it is not. use the ivy
to make a bridge between the to spiky rocks. Go across then down and to the right slightly. If
you go up you will find a gap. Use a Big stick to get across. It leads back to the jungle just
down from the boat. Down and to the right will take you to a rock. push the rock and walk over
it. and you will find the key.

Note: You need to be of real good health before you enter the palace because the only place to
sleepis a home away from home, which is no good in the rain, and it will be a while before you
get to drinkable water. Plus the animals are somtimes too hard to kill.

When you enter the Palace. you should go straight up then to the right and save so if you die
you will start again in the Palace. Keep going right and then go inside the building. Inside
you will see a set of stairs in the middle of the room. Go up. You see a puzzle piece in the
lower left hand corner. Becareful because the there are holes in the floor. Now leave the
building and go left to another building. Inside you find a puzzle on the floor. The puzzle is
done on the left but not on the right. Finish the puzzle then put the missing puzzle piece back
into the empty place. No you will recive a key.

Use the key to open the door below the building that had the puzzle piece inside. Go to the left
you will find the Stair Maze. this build is very complex but just follows these steps to get
throught it quick

Note: Don't dink the Water!!

-Go down the frist set of stairs
-Go down the top set of stairs
-Get the sparkly thing (Half of the key)
-Go down the set of stairs on the right
-Walk off the stairs then back on again
-Walk over the switch (the hour glass tile)
-Go back the way you came
-Go down the stairs to your left
-Now go down the stairs on the left
-Get the key
-Exit

Now use the Key on the door straight down from the Stair Maze. Cut the bushes to you right down
to get the other half of the key. merge the 2 halves to make the whole key. Now unlock the door
that is down from the frist door you unlocked. Go down and you will find the last part on the
Palace.

Go to the right about 1 screen, then go up. Water, finally you have some water to drink. To
unlock the door use your canteen on the torches. Go to the right the down and around, move the
rock out of the way and head up. Until you find some water, 2 blocks and a moon switch across
some water. Shoot the switch with your bow and arrow. Then go up the left and hit the switch.
Now go back down and hit the switch again and go up the right side. Go down and to the right.
Hit the crack opn the wall with your Hammer to break it go through and hit the moon switch. This
will open a short cut back to where the 2 torches were. To unlock the door lite both of the
torches with your kindling. Now go up and to your right. You will find a complexe set of moon
switches and moving blocks. These steps should get you through.

-hit the first switch just up from the entrence.
-Now hit the switch just below you.
-Go over to the second passage way and go down passed the blocks.
-Hit the switch to the left.
-Hit the switch above you.
-Hit the switch below you again.
-Go back up the second passage way an hit the switch on the right.
-Then go all the way back down hit the moon switch against the lower wall.
-Leave the room through the exit on the right side.

Now hit the switch to open the door. and head down and to the right. Move the rock out of the
way and enter the next room. This room has invisible wall in it. I can tell you how to get
through because I don't know exactly how. I just use trial and error. It take only a few
seconds. Make sure you hit the moon switch before head for the door. In the next room is the
MOON GEM. After you get the gem a set of stairs will appear in the upper right hand corner of
the screen. It will take you back to the boat were you can put the last gem into the boat and
off you go.

I can't seem to keep the other kid alive. Please help me.

A-Sure, but only a small one and remember you answer to me!!!

Q-How do you make the umbrella in Survival Kids?
A-You use the Umbrella leaf as the Umbrella.

Q-I went back to the first par of the Island but did not drain the swamp, How do I get back?
A-After I recived a 2 or 3 e-mails on this problem. I knew it had to be fixed so I thought of
every way you can possible get back to htte boat and I hit me THe cave behind the Water Fall!!
For you how are stuck you will not know of the Cave because you find it later when you unlock
the palace. The complete instruction are in the walkthrough above.

How to get each Ending
1-
Get the radio and the batteries, merge them, but don't sleep. Instead keep using it. After a
long time you will here that the search is going on right now. So you decide to make a sign. To
do this go th the beach and game will ask you if you want to make the sign. Do it. Now wait 2
or 3 days and you will hear the helicopter. Now go to the beach an you will be rescued.

2-
When you go to leave the Island on the raft don't bring any preserved food.

3-
For this Ending you just need to live to day 100

4-

5-
If you don't make the other kid happy and then you leave the island on the big boat they will
die.

6-
You need to make the other child happy by giving them food and the pendant and other stuff until
they there happy.

10-Mini Games

In Survival Kids there are total of 3 Mini Games and 2 versions of each one in the game and one
you get to play from the menu. I decide to write a section that is devoted to Mini Games since
they are a cool extra.

Outline
In this Mini Game you paly as the monkey and the goal is to climb the tree and get the berry at
the Top with out falling. You get 2 hits then you fall and a crap counts as 2.

Controls
Use right and left on the D-pad to move from tree to tree.
Hit A to move up the tree

Location
This mini game is on the beach by the Home away from home. Just look at the tree and the monkey
will offer to climb it and get the berrries.

Menu Version
The same only it keeps going

You play as the kid in this game and the monkey will toss a egg at you to catch. You just have
to get under it to catch it.

Use right and left on the D-pad to move.

This game is located on the top of the the mountain up from the hot sping.

In the menu version you need to catch as many eggs as possible in a certain time limit.

Hit A + B rapidly to increase the power of you throw.

Location
To get this game go to the river and throw the big rock into the river in the same spot you

You try to cath as many fish as possible in the same way as the game version.
