SKILL TREE FAQ
for
STAR OCEAN: BLUE SPHERE
By: SteveO 528
This FAQ outlines each character's Skill Tree. As you level up skills in one
family, new skills will be unlocked. However, skills from the opposing family
will be lost. Since each character excels in two types of skills, you should
stick to those two skill families to maximize your character's effectiveness.
I've listed the Romaji names in parenthesis next to each skill. In my next
update, I'll replace these with SJIS Encoding, so you'll be able to see the
actual Japanese characters. For now, you might want to pick up a few Kana
charts.

Legal Stuff [LEGA]
Skills are divided into four main groups: Combat, Knowledge, Sensibility, and
Technical. Combat opposes Knowledge, and Sensibility opposes Technical. Each
character is skilled in two of the four families. In order to reach their full
potential, characters must stick to their majors.
Unfortunately, it's impossible for a character to master every skill. As you
learn skills from one family, you lose the ability to learn certain skills from
the opposing family. For each family, there is a special skill. These skills
have a difficulty level of 4, and are usually near the end of a character's
skill tree. Therefore, it's best to master all the skills from the character's
two major skill families, then pick up the minor skills later. Characters will
only be able to learn the high-level skills from the two families that they
favor.
Skills also come at varying levels of difficulty. The more difficult a skill
is, the more SP you'll have to spend to level it up. However, difficult skills
are well worth the additional SP cost. Here's a simple chart that lists the SP
costs for the various skill difficulties at each level.
HP/MP STR/CON/DEX/AGL/INT/RES/GUT
* +5 to +10 * +1 to +2
** +10 to +15 ** +2 to +3
*** +15 to +20 *** +3 to +5
**** +20 to +30 **** +5 to +7
Families that say [MASTER!] beside them are the best skill trees to follow for
the character. The high-level skills in these families will be marked with (!).
