[1. Intro (INTR)]

Hello, and welcome to my guide for Shantae on the Game Boy Color!

With this guide, we’ll go from start to finish, and I’ll tell you how to find
all the items, collect all the moves, and completely finish the game.

I’ll try to cover everything in this guide, but if there’s anything I’ve missed,
please let me know and I’ll include it in a future update.

[2. About the Game (ABTG)]

Shantae is perhaps one of the most unlikely of franchises – created by Matt
Bozon, developed by Wayforward Technologies, and published by Capcom, Shantae
was released on the Game Boy Color in 2002, where it passed many people by,
mainly due to the Game Boy Advance coming out the year before – meaning that all
the attention being focused on that, despite attracting good reviews. Over time
however, the game has become a cult hit, culminating with a re-release on the
3DS eShop in 2013, and a series that is currently up to five games across
multiple platforms.

Shantae is a side-scrolling MetroidVania style platformer, where you guide the
half-genie Shantae through Sequin Land, collecting items, learning new moves,
and battling enemies.

Over the course of your adventure, you’ll learn to use Shantae’s magic abilities
to transform into four animals and use their abilities to open up and explore
new areas.

There are three different collectables to find – warp squids, fireflies, and
heart holders. I’ll detail what each of them does and where to find them in this
guide.

You’ll also venture into deep, dangerous dungeons during your quest – you’ll
find the guides for each of these here too.

[3. Story (STRY)]

The game is set in Sequin Land, a place that used to be protected by Guardian
Genies – over time, the genies fell in love with humans. The result of this were
half-genies – whilst they were powerful, they were limited compared to their
magical Genie parents.

Evenutally, the Genies left the world, leaving the humans and half-genies behind
to protect the land – half-genies like Shantae, the guardian of Scuttle Town.

When the pirate queen Risky Boots attacks Scuttle Town, Shantae will face her
biggest challenge yet...

[4. Controls (CNTR)]

[5. Characters (CHTR)]

Shantae

Our half-genie heroine – Shantae is the guardian of Scuttle Town, a
responsibility she takes seriously. Shantae mostly relies on her hair-whipping
abilities to fight, but she does also have magical powers she doesn’t know about
yet – but will reveal themselves over the course of the adventure.

Mimic

Shantae’s Uncle, Mimic loves to invent things and tinker with old machines – he
can usually be found on the dock at Scuttle Town, working away in his workshop –
a kind-hearted mentor to Shantae, Mimic has a problem of not seeing the trouble
his machines can get everyone into.

Mayor

The Mayor of Scuttle Town, who is relying on Shantae to solve the current
crisis.

Bolo

An old friend of Shantae, who lives in Water Town, Bolo has an eye for the
ladies, and will always help them out – no matter who they are.

Sky

Another one of Shantae’s friends, Sky is bird breeder in Oasis Town, who is
rarely seen without her favorite bird Wrench.

Rottytops

A teenage zombie, Rottytops claims to be a friend, but that doesn’t stop her
wanting to give Shantae’s brains a nibble. She lives in the Zombie caravan.

Genie

A genie who stayed behind to guard Bandit Town when the others left, Genie uses
mind-reading skills to help do her job.

Risky Boots

The pirate queen of the seas, Risky desires anything that will help make her
all-powerful – no matter what the cost. When she attacks Scuttle Town, she makes
an arch-enemy of Shantae, who will do anything she can to stop her.

[6. Collectables and Power-Ups (COPU)]

As you play through the game, you’ll find various items, either dropped by
enemies, or bought at shops. They’re all designed to help you along, and all
shouldn’t be passed up.

Collectables

Gems

Gems are the currency in the game – the more gems you have, the more you can buy
in the shops. Small gems are worth one, medium gems give you five, and large
ones will net you twenty.

Hearts

Hearts restore health – very valuable, especially when you’re running low. Small
ones restore one heart, and large ones restore three.

1up

1ups don’t appear very often, but when they do, they give you an extra life – if
you lose all your lives, you have to start again from the last save point.

Heart Holder

Heart holders add an extra heart to your meter. There are seven of these, for
a total of 10 hearts.

Fireflies

Fireflies only appear at night. There are 12 of these, with a special bonus
for finding all of them.

Warp Squids

Warp squids help to set up war points – hence the name. Take them back to the
Warp Squid hut in each town, and for every 4 you return, a warp point will be
set up for that town.

Vials

Bought in shops, vials restore health. Small vials restore a few hearts, medium
ones give you several hearts, and large ones completely restore the whole meter.

Power-Ups

These all have to be bought from shops.

Vanish Cream

Makes you invisible, allowing you to pass by enemies, and some obstacles.

Storm Puffs

Sends out a storm cloud that targets enemies.

Pike Balls

Causes three spiked balls to circle Shantae, attacking enemies.

Float Muffins

Stop you from falling into pits.

Exit Candies

Allow you to instantly escape from a labyrinth.

Flash Bolts

A distance attack.

Twin Mints

Gives you double attack power for a short time.

Greedy Jars

Makes enemies double the loot they drop for a short time.

Fireballs

Another distance attack, more powerful than the flash bolt.

Fighters Boots

Gives you the Spin Kick.

Fighters Sash

Gives you the Drill Attack

Fighters Cuff

Gives you the Elbow Dash

Fighters Tiara

Gives you the Twirl Attack.

[7. Animal Transformations (ANTR)]

As a half-genie, Shantae had various magical powers, chiefly her animal
transformation abilities. However, you can’t access them right from the start –
you have to find the genies trapped in the labyrinths dotted around Sequin Land,
and learn the animal transformation dance for each one from them.

Once you learn a dance, press select to start dancing. Watch the dance gauge at
the bottom of the screen. When the first star lights up, press the button in the
correct direction for the first move. Repeat this for every subsequent move. If
you input a wrong move, or fail to press a button, you’ll have to start from the
beginning.

Once thing to be aware of is that when transformed, you will need to pick up the
right talisman for that animal form to be able to attack.

Monkey (Dance: down, right)

The monkey is fast, and the best when it comes to climbing walls – just jump
onto the wall you want to climb, and head up. However, you will slide down if
you don’t keep climbing. You can also jump to other walls during the climb to
head up even further.

With Talisman (Monkey Claw): Lets you swipe with the monkey’s claws.

Elephant (Dance: down, left)

The elephant is slow, and has the worst jump, but if you need to knock down
obstacles, this is the form for you – using its dash attack, the elephant can
knock down objects out of the way, clearing the path.

With Talisman (Elephant Tote): Lets you slam downwards whilst in the air.

Spider (Dance: down, A)

The spider is good for climbing up walls like the monkey, and it can jump fairly
well – however, it cannot run, making this only second to the elephant it terms
of slowness.

Talisman (Spider Venom): Lets you fire venom at enemies from a distance.

Harpy (Dance, down, B)

The harpy is one the best transformations, because it gives the ability to fly,
making it easier to travel, and allowing you to reach objects and areas you
couldn’t do otherwise.

Talisman (Harpy Talon): Lets you swipe at enemies with your talons.

[8.1. Walkthrough Intro (WLKI)]

Time to begin the walkthrough – I’ll take you from start to finish, explaining
how to tackle the tricky areas, and telling you where all the collectables can
be found.

If there’s anything I’ve missed, be sure to tell me and I’ll include it in a
future update.

Without any further ado, let’s begin...

[8.2. Attack on Scuttle Town (ATST)]

As the game beings, Risky Boots and her pirate gang in the middle of an attack
on Scuttle Town – time to stop her!

Start running to the right, dodging the cannonballs as you go – look out for the
shadows on the ground, and jump or dodge out of the way before they fall. Keep
heading right, making sure to jump over holes in the bridges and kill any
pirates who get in your way.

When you reach town, head up the stairs, killing enemies as you go. At the top,
head across the rooftops, killing enemies and destroying the giant balls that
they come out of.

When the sky turns red, keep heading right, watching out for the barrels on the
way – pirates burst out of them, so be ready! Jump up the platforms to reach the
roofs whilst taking out pirates as you go. Make your way across the
rooftops at the top, then head down the other side.

The sky will change again – after this, head right across the bridge. On the
other side, you have to jump up the blocks sticking out of the building –
however, they move back into the building after a few seconds, then back out
again. Time your jumps carefully to reach the roof.

At the top, run right past the cannons and cannonballs – watch out for pirates –
until you reach Mimic.

After the conversation, head right until you reach the purple blocks. Stand on
them until they crumble to fall back down to the ground. Head right across the
bridge, and jump up the boxes to the roof. Run across the roof, and down the
other side – run right to more boxes – use them to reach the pirate ship, where
Risky Boots is.

After a short conversation, a boss fight begins.

BOSS: Risky Boots and Pirate Gang

This boss isn’t too hard – just avoid the cannonballs (stand next to the door on
the far right to do this easily), and kill the pirates that show up. When the
door opens to reveal a barrel, use the hair whip to destroy it (this may take
several attempts).

When the barrel explodes, you drop down to the side of the ship. Jump across the
pillars to dodge attacks from the pirates sticking out of the holes above. When
a pirate appears holding a barrel, jump up and whip it to destroy the pirate and
the hole. Repeat this for all the holes to win.

After the conversation that follows, head left into Scuttle Town.

[8.3. The Journey Begins! (TJOB)]

Scuttle Town
------------

You can now explore Scuttle Town properly – there are several places here that
you’ll find every town, and some buildings that are unique to Scuttle Town. To
start, here are the ones you’ll find in every town:

Save Room – This is where you go to save your game.

Item Shop – You buy items here – here’s a price list:

Vial 1 – 50
Vial 2 – 75
Vial 3 – 100
Vanish Cream – 30
Storm Puff – 25
Pike Ball - 25

Town Gates – leave town from here.

Bath House – If you need to restore health, you can do here – the best part is,
it’s free!

Warp Squid Hit – When you find four warp squids, bring them back here to create
a warp point – we’ll go into more detail when we have four warp squids.

There are also two unique places here, and they are:

Dance Parlor – Only open at night, you can play the dance mini-game here –
practice your dancing skills, and come here to try and win items!

Mimic’s Dock – You can talk to Mimic here.

I would recommend buying some Vanish Cream from the shop – if you don’t have
enough gems, go outside town and fight enemies until you do.

When you’re ready to leave, go through the town gates. You can go left or right
– you need to go right to continue the quest, but I’d go left first – there’s an
item you should collect before you continue.

Naga Wasteland
--------------

Head left through this area, fighting the medusa-like snake women, and jumping
over spikes – make sure to grab the gems the enemies drop. If you didn’t have
enough gems for the Vanish Cream, build up the amount you have, then go back to
Scuttle Town and buy it.

Regardless, head left, crawl through the gap to reach a ladder.

Heart Holder 1
Down the ladder, you’ll find a gate blocking the path – use the vanish cream to
pass the gate, and grab the Heart Holder on the other side.

Afterwards, crawl through the passage underneath the platform to get back to the
other side, and go back up the ladder.

Jump up the platforms to the left, and do a running jump to the top of the rock
to the right (don’t worry – we’ll be coming back later on to explore this area
properly).

Head back right, fighting enemies and avoiding spike pits as before, until you
reach Scuttle Town.

Scuttle Town
------------

Save and restore energy if needed, then leave via the gates again – this time,
head right.

Scarecrow Field
---------------

As you head right, watch for enemies jumping up from the ground – just whip
them to kill them. Keep heading right, crossing bridges and jumping the gaps you
come across. Jump onto the pillar when you find it, kill the bat creature above
you, and jump onto the other pillar from there, and onto the other side of the
gap.

Keep heading right, watching out for enemies – it’s all scarrcrows and
spear-carrying enemies, and they’re easy to defeat.

Firefly 1
When night comes, jump to the top of a cluster of pillars to find a firefly.

(You’ll also see a Heart Holder on a pillar – ignore it for now as you can’t
reach it – we’ll be back to get it later).

Continue walking through the cornfield, killing enemies to build up gems –
there’s another bridge, and another gap – until you reach the next area.

Spider Forest
-------------

Head right through the area, killing spiders as you see them – avoid the demons,
they take far too long to kill.

Jump across the logs and the gaps on the way – go up the hills you come across,
apart from the really tall one – you’ll need to go under that one. If you can’t
find a way to continue on the ground, jump into the trees – you can climb up the
hidden branches in them.

Eventually you’ll come to save point – just talk to the guy to save. Head right
to the next area.

Dribble Fountain
----------------

Just walk past the fountain for now – you’ll be back here soon, but for now keep
going right.

Waterfall
---------

Head right through the area, avoiding the fish enemies leaping around – they are
tough to kill right now, so just dodge past them.

Go down to the bottom, and head right – be careful around the waterfalls, as
sometimes an enemy will pop out from behind to attack. You can’t kill them, so
just watch out!

Jump across the logs, and watch out for snakes that fall from small holes in the
walls – these are actually good places to build up gems and health, as the
snakes are constantly falling, and they’re easy to kill.

When you’re ready, keep moving right, jumping across logs – you’ll have to do
some running jumps on occasion to reach the ledges. When you can, climb up the
waterfalls using branches and ledges. Stay on top of the waterfalls as much as
possible, heading down to the ground when you have to. Eventually, you’ll reach
the next town.

Water Town
----------

Head through the gates to enter – save at the Save Room, and restore your health
at the Bath House if you need to. If you want to go shopping, here is the price
list:

Vial 1 – 50
Vial 2 – 75
Vial 3 – 100
Float Muffins(x5) – 20
Exit Candy – 20
Flash Bolts(x10) - 25
Fighters Boots – 300
Fighters Sash – 400
Fighters Cuff – 500
Fighters Tiara – 900

There are some unique areas here too:

Bolo’s Gazebo – Bolo lives here – visit him to advance the plot, and find out
where you’re going next.

Firefly Shrine – useless at the moment, you’ll have to collect all 12 fireflies
first – I’ll remind you when that happens.

When you’re ready, leave the town, and head back left – go back through the
Waterfall like you did before, until you arrive back at the Dribble Fountain.

Dribble Fountain
----------------

Bolo is here – after a brief conversation, he’ll open the fountain for you. Head
left again to save, then come back and enter the fountain.

[8.4. Dribble Fountain Labyrinth (DRBL)]

As you go in, you’ll meet with Risky Boots again. After the conversation, jump
up to the water platform, crouch, and whip the gate to create an opening. Crawl
through.

There’s a shaft on the other side – drop down to the bottom. Whip the vases for
health/gems, and head right. Jump across the platforms in the next room, killing
enemies as you go. At the other end of the room, head through the door to find
another shaft.

Drop to the bottom again, but be careful – some of the platforms here are
electrified! Once at the bottom, head left this time.

You’ll face a mini-boss in this room – he’s not too tough, just move out of the
way when comes up from the floor, and whip him – he’ll go down after a few hits.
Once he’s down, head left again.

Drop down to the floor, and kill the lobster creature – attack after it lands
following a jump by whipping it in the eye, then again to attack the open mouth
– watch out though, as it can block with its claws. After the fight, keep moving
left, and crawl through the gap.

Dribble Fountain Labyrinth Warp Squid 1
It’s sitting in plain sight on a platform after you crawl through the gap.

After grabbing the warp squid, crawl through another gap to the left, and kill
another lobster creature. Jump up to the left. Do a running jump to the platform
on the right, and crawl through the gap. Whip the vases here and crawl through
to the other end. Whip the vase and crawl back the way you came. Jump back to
the ledge to the left, and head through the door.

Jump across the moving platforms and ledges to reach the other side. Break the
vase to get a 1up, and jump up to the moving platform. Head upwards using
platforms and ledges. Jump to the ledge on the right at the top, and head
through the door.

You’ll see three symbols arranged in a pattern from top to bottom – in my games
it was fish, squid, and snail, but it might be different for yours.
Memorize the pattern (or just right it down), and fall down the hole in the
centre of the room.

You’ll now see some more symbols – use your hair whip to change them to the
pattern you just saw to make a key appear. Pick it up, head down the right
passage and go through the door.

Keep going right – you’ll go through two rooms you’ve been through before –
until you end up back at the bottom of the shaft with the electric platforms.
Head up – watch out for the electric currents on the platforms – and unlock the
door on the right when you reach it, go into the next room.

Run right across the gaps – they’re small enough that if you run, you don’t
need to jump – jump across the shaft, and head right until you reach a vertical
passage. Go up the passage avoiding the fireballs, and go left at the top.

There’s another pattern to memorize here – in my case it was squid, fish, snail,
and squid – and another door to the left, leading to more symbols that need to
be rearranged.= to make a key appear – except this key falls down a hole in the
centre of the room – drop down to grab it.

Head left afterwards, fight another lobster creature and grab another 1up from
the vase on the left ledge afterwards. Go right next, crawl under the gap,
head into the next room, and go right again, and go down to the bottom of the
shaft.

Dribble Fountain Labyrinth Warp Squid 2
Crawl right through the hole and jump to the platform, avoiding the fireballs.

Head back left through the gap. Jump across the gaps, dodging enemies as you go.
Head through the door at the end. Keep going left, whipping enemies and dodging
fireballs. Unlock the gate at the end, and go through the door.

In the next room, whip the top symbol to the ground. Head left, and then up. You
can use the worms that pop out from the sides to help you get up, they won’t
hurt you. There some more electrified platforms here though, so be careful. At
the top, go left, and crawl through the gap. Fight the lobster creature to gain
another key, and head back right.

Do a running jump across the shaft, and unlock the gate. On the other side of
the door, there is a third pattern – in my case, fish, squid, and squid –
memorize it, and head right.

(You’ll also see a warp squid here – ignore it for now, as you can’t reach it
yet.)

You’ll see a fallen slab here – whip it left, and then right to the ground, then
down the passageway in the hole. Jump down after it, and keep sending the slab
downwards, until it joins with others. Whip the pattern to match the one you
just saw to get another key.

Head back up to where the slab was originally. Unlock the gate here, and go
right. Crawl through the gap to find a genie. You’ll learn a dance here to turn
into a monkey – use it to transform, and climb back up the wall, and head left.

Dribble Fountain Labyrinth Warp Squid 3
Head left to the platform you passed earlier – use the monkey to reach it.

Head left back to the shaft. Jump across again, and crawl through the gap. Climb
up to the top of the room, and whip the vases for health and a 1up. Head back to
the previous room. Fall to the ground, and head right, and then right again,
dodging the fireballs as you go.

Jump across more gaps and dodging the enemies. Go up the shaft, and left into
the next room. Climb to the top of the shaft, and change to the monkey. Keep
climbing the walls, and go through the small hole at the top to reach a hidden
room. Transform back to Shantae to fight an enemy and grab the gems from the
vase.

Dribble Fountain Labyrinth Warp Squid 4
Transform into a monkey again, and keep going up through another hidden vertical
passage to reach the squid at the top.

Head back down to the ledges at the top of the shaft. Go through the door on the
left. Climb the shaft, and use the monkey to reach the top. Go through the door
on the right. Kill the lobster creatures, and continue right. Claim the hearts
from the vases if you need to, and head right again.

After another cut-scene, you’ll fight the boss.

BOSS: Dribble Fountain Guard

Again, another easy boss – just jump up and whip the eye when the boss stops
spinning. Occasionally, the boss will fly off the side of the screen, and
reappear flying low – just jump to avoid him. He might also vanish and cause a
wave of water to wash over the arena – turn into a monkey, and climb the sides
of the screen to dodge this. Just keep attacking when you can – after five hits,
he goes down.

Grab the Dribble Stone after the fight, and you’ll exit the labyrinth.

[8.5. Exploring the Desert (EXDE)]

Dribble Fountain
----------------

They’ll be a conversation with Bolo as you leave – afterwards, head left to
save, and then right back to the waterfall area – you have a few items to
collect.

Waterfall
---------

Head right through the area, the same way you did before – if you have less
than 500 gems, fight enemies (the snakes are a good choice) to build up your
total. When you’re ready, head to Water Town.

Water Town
----------

Drop the squids off at the warp squid hut – you’ll learn a new dance that you
can use to warp back to Water Town – for reference, it’s down, up, right, left,
B, A.

Buy the Fighters Boots in the shop – you’ll learn the Spin Kick move (press up
twice on the ground).

Save and recover health if you need to, then leave town and head left through
the Waterfall area and Spider Forest – the spin kick works well on the flying
demons – until you reach the Scarecrow Field.

Scarecrow Field
---------------

Head left, being careful of enemies, until you reach the tall pillar you passed
before.

Heart Holder 2
On top of the pillar, there is a heart holder – use the monkey to reach it.

After you’ve grabbed the heart holder, keep heading left until you reach Scuttle
Town.

Scuttle Town
------------

Save and heal, buy some items in the shop if you want, then head left again to
the Naga Wasteland.

Naga Wasteland
--------------

Head left until you reach the ladder you went down before – change into the
monkey and climb the wall to the left. Keep making your way through the
wasteland, fighting enemies and jumping over spike pits.

When you reach another wall, use the monkey again to climb it, and keep going
left. When you reach another ladder, go down. Head through the underground cave,
and climb up the ladder at the other end.

Ladies Desert
-------------

This area isn’t too tough – you have to watch out for cactuses, but they are
easily jumped over. Enemies that you come across are scorpion women, and some
giant desert worms, but they are easily fought. Just keep going left until you
reach Oasis Town.

Oasis Town
----------

Enter through the gates – the unique areas this time around are:

Sky Hatchery – Go here for another scene to advance the story.

Gecko Chamber – another mini game.

The shop list this time is:

Vial 1 – 50
Vial 2 – 75
Vial 3 – 100
Vanish Cream – 30
Exit Candy – 20
Twin Mints(x5) – 30
Storm Puffs(x20) – 25
Flash Bolts(x10) – 25
Pike Balls(x10) – 25

Once you’re done, save and heal, then leave town and head back right.

Ladies Desert
-------------

Head back the way you came until you reach the ladder where you entered the
desert – go back through the underground passage to the Naga Wasteland.

Naga Wasteland
--------------

Head left after exiting the ladder, fighting more enemies and jumping over spike
pits – it’s the same as before, so it shouldn’t be too tough – until you reach
the Men’s Desert.

Men’s Desert
------------

This is similar to the Ladies Desert, except this time you fight scorpion men
that can send their tails underground before they shoot up out of the ground to
attack you, so watch out! Also, there are more of the flying round demons here,
but they’re as easily defeated as before.

Keep heading left, making sure to jump cactuses as you go, until you reach the
Golem Mine Entrance.

Golem Mine Entrance
-------------------

There’s another cut-scene here as Wrench opens the entrance – but before you do,
go left to save.

[8.6. Golem Mine Labyrinth (GOML)]

Golem Mine Labyrinth
--------------------

After entering, head right and attack the rock creature – crouch down and hair
whip when the creature starts moving around – grab a large heart from the vase
if you need to, and the a large gem from the vase down and to the left. Drop
down further and head left, attacking more enemies as you go. Drop down the
shaft at the end, and head right to the next room.

The next room has a lift shaft – drop down to the lift, and head down on it
until you reach two windows on either side of the shaft.

Golem Mine Labyrinth Warp Squid 1
Walk through the right window to find the squid on a platform.

Head back to the lift all the way to the bottom floor, and head right – you’ll
walk over a panel on the floor that turns Shantae blue – don’t worry, this is
normal for this dungeon. Keep going to the next room.

Kill the enemies above you, and head to the next room. Jump across the lamps,
and whip the vase on the other side to get a 1up. Use the red light in here to
turn red, and head back to the previous room.

Walk along above the blue enemy underneath the platform to lure it out, and
attack it to get a key. Go back to the lift room, go up one floor, and go right.
There’s a gate here – unlock it with the key, and go through to the next room.

In the next room, there are enemies above sending zap attacks down – you will
get hit unless you have a vanish cream with you. Just run through the room,
trying to avoid being hit as much as possible.

You’ll arrive in a room with a rock creature – lure it to one of the weights on
either side, and crouch on top of them. Whip the creature until it dies.
Afterwards, fall down the shaft to the right, and use the red light to turn red
if you aren’t already. This will open up the red platforms so you can fall down
further. Fall to the left until you find a blue platform – use that, and turn
into the monkey. Climb back up, and fall through the blue platforms to the right
this time, and then to the left, until you reach the bottom. Dodge the enemies,
use the red light, and climb up to find a hidden passage in the ceiling. Use
that to head left, and drop down beside a blue light to the right. Don’t use it
though, instead head left and climb the wall.

Now, you need to lure the enemy beneath you out and down to the bottom. Do this
by heading left until you are right above the enemy. Once you have its attention
and it follows you, head right until it drops down a hole. Drop down the wall
and lure the creature to the ground floor and out into the open. Change to human
form and attack the creature for a key. Go back up the wall, and through the
door to the left.

Unlock the gate in here, and jump into the ceiling on the left to find a hidden
passage. Follow the passage, and fall to the left to find the Guardian Genie of
the labyrinth. She will teach you a new transformation dance for the elephant –
use the dance to transform, and charge through the spikes to the right. Jump up
the platforms and back to the previous room.

Head right to the blue light. Transform into the monkey, and use the hidden
passage in the ceiling to avoid the red light. Keep going right – you’ll face
another rock creature, they’re easier to defeat in elephant form, as you can
just charge into them. Go back up the shaft, and head left.

You’re back in the room with the zapping creatures – you can use a hidden
passage in the ceiling to fight them. Do this, and return to the lift room. Go
all the way up, and through the door on the left.

Climb the shaft, and use the elephant transformation to break the spikes on the
left. Enter the room, and defeat the box enemy and the magnet enemy to gain a
key.

Golem Mine Labyrinth Warp Squid 2
In the top left corner, there’s a hidden passage. Go through that to find the
warp squid.

Go back to the lift room, go all the way down, and use the red light on the
left. Go up two floors, break the spikes on the right, and enter the door.

Defeat the rock creature and go right. The next room has another magnet enemy
and a box enemy. Defeat them and grab the key, and return to the lift. Smash the
spikes to the left, and go through the door.

Drop down the hole to the left, defeat another rock creature, and grab the
key. Change to the monkey, climb up the shaft to the alcove. Change to the
elephant, charge through the rocks and enemies.

Golem Mine Labyrinth Warp Squid 3
At the end of the passage, you’ll find it on a platform.

Go back to the shaft, climb back up, and return to the elevator room. Go down to
the ground floor again, and head left. Smash the elephant statue, and use the
spikes to cross the lava pit to get to the next room – be quick, as they don’t
stay there for very long!

Fall down the shaft, and take the lift there all the way down. Unlock the door
on the right. Clear the spikes with the elephant, and go through the door to
face the boss.

Boss: Dribble Fountain Guard

This boss is fairly easy – become the elephant, jump up and onto his fists when
they appear, and ram the boss’s head to stun him and make gem appear. Become
human again, and whip the gem until he dies – just keep repeating the
process if needed until he goes down.

Pick up the golem stone, and you’ll be back outside.

[8.7. Undead Dealings (UNDD)]

Mens Desert
-----------

After the cutscene, head left to save. Turn around and head back into the
labyrinth.

Golem Mine Labyrinth
--------------------

Go back to the lift shaft, and go down one floor to find some spikes to the left
– use the elephant to break them, and head through to the left wall to find a
hidden passage leading up – jump up through it.

Golem Mine Labyrinth Warp Squid 4
Head left fighting enemies to find it

Head back out of the labyrinth. Make your way back through the Mens Desert and
the Naga Wasteland until you reach Scuttle Town.

Scuttle Town
------------

Save, heal, and buy some storm puffs. Leave town, and head right to scarecrow
field – don’t drop off the warp squids, you’ll need them for another place later
on. Head right through Scarecrow Field until you reach Spider Forest.

Spider Forest
-------------

Head through the forest until you come to a tree stump – use the elephant to
bash it and uncover a ladder. Continue on and use the save point. Continue right
past the Dribble Fountain to the waterfall area.

Waterfall
---------

After entering, drop down to the bottom and go left to find a ladder – climb
down, and go through the cave to the forest.

Make your way through the forest until you find a tree stump – use the elephant
to bash it to reveal a ladder – climb down, and go through the cave to find
yourself in Spider Forest at the ladder you uncovered earlier – you have now
created a shortcut.

Go back through the cave, and left through the forest until you find a tree
stump. Crawl through it to find another cave. Go through this new cave, and once
your on the other side, use the monkey to climb the wall. At the top, use the
elephant to bash the tree stump to find yet ANOTHER cave (yeah, I
know...). Go through this new cave, use the storm puff to kill the enemy, and
crawl through the gap to find the monkeys claw – you can now attack when in
monkey form.

At this point, you can leave the cave, make your way through the forest and
waterfall area to Water Town, or you can use the warp dance to get there, if you
know it.

Water Town
----------

You should have enough for the Fighters Sash and Fighters Cuff, save, head, and
leave town and head right.

Rain Storm
----------

Head through this new area, being careful to jump over the gaps.

Firefly 2
It’s in plain sight at night

Keep heading right, use the monkey to climb walls. Jump over the gaps along
the way, and head to the next area.

Snail Wasteland
---------------

Head right, and whip the snails if it’s day (they retreat into their shells at
night).

Firefly 3
Climb the rocks halfway through using the monkey to find it.

Keep heading right. When you reach some rocks, climb them with the monkey, and
bash the rock on top with the elephant to uncover a ladder – don’t go down yet.
Instead, keep heading right to the next area.

Swamp
-----

Jump over the gaps as you make your way through the swamp – don’t bother
fighting the zombies, they just keep coming! Just make your way through the
swamp, past a building (you’ll be back here later), use the save point halfway
through, and head right to the next area.

Ghost Forest
------------

Head right through the forest, whipping ghosts when you see them – don’t fight
the spiders as they can’t be defeated.

After you climb the first ramp, use the elephant to bash the tree stump to
uncover a shortcut back to snail wasteland at the ladder you uncovered earlier.

Keep going right, and when you reach the next ramp, climb to the tops of the
trees and make your way across them to reach the top of the ramp. Head right to
reach a wall.

Firefly 4
Use the monkey at climb the wall at night – the firefly is in an alcove halfway
up.

Drop back down, and use the elephant to bash the wall. Head right and bash
another wall. When you reach the end of the area, wait until dark to enter the
next area.

Zombie Caravan
--------------

There’s only one new area this time around

Keep Out!! – Enter to advance the plot.

Here’s the shop price list:

Vial 1 – 40
Vial 2 – 60
Vial 3 – 90
Float Muffins(x5) – 15
Exit Candy – 20
Twin Mints(x5) – 20
Greedy Jars(x5) – 30
Flash Bolts(x10) – 20
Fireballs(x10) – 20

Use the bathing wagon, save your game, and drop the warp squids off – the
caravan will change position once you leave, so having the warp dance will let
you come back here easily – the warp dance is down, up, left, left, B, A.

When your ready, go into the Keep Out area, and talk to Rottytops – agree to
race.

The race is fairly simple – you need to get to the end first, dodging the
obstacles along the way – you jump over stones, and slide under trees. The order
of obstacles is: stone, tree, stone, stone, tree, stone, tree, tree, tree,
stone, tree, stone, tree, tree, stone, tree, stone.

After winning the race, save, and head back left through the Ghost Forest until
you reach the Swamp.

Swamp
-----

Head left to the building you passed earlier – this is the Cackle Mound
Labyrinth. Rottytops will open the door, but head right to the save point before
going in.

[8.8. Cackle Mound Labyrinth (CAML)]

After entering, run straight through the first room – avoid the enemies, they
just don’t stop coming!

In the next room, turn into a monkey and climb the wall on the right.

Cackle Mound Labyrinth Warp Squid 1
Inside a small passage at the top of the wall

Keep going right and enter the door to the next room.

In here, hide in the dark areas of the room to avoid the enemies – in fact, this
is the best way to survive this dungeon, as the enemies come fast and they never
stop – when you’re in the dark, they can’t see you, but you can still attack
them, and with no fear of being attacked back, so use this to your advantage!

Keep going right to a room with ramps – slide down them to the bottom, and
head right – don’t fight the enemy in the next room – just avoid him and keep
moving.

In the next room, break the jar on the table, and whip the eyeball into the
statue (this might take a few goes), grab the key, and head back to the ramp
room.

Jump over the vines that pop out of the floor, and unlock the gate to the left.
Keep going to the next room, and fall down the shaft.

Head right to find a room with several platforms, and block with a constantly
moving eye. To cross this room, you need to use the eye blocks – they will move
in the direction the eye is pointing in when you jump on them. In this case you
need to jump on the block when it is looking right. Travel all the way right to
find a jar with a 1up inside. Jump to the block above when the eye is looking
left, and right it to find another block – this one should be looking up. Ride
it, and jump to the platform on the right. There should be another eye block
here, which needs to be pointing right when you ride it.

Cackle Mound Labyrinth Warp Squid 2
After riding the block right, you should find the squid on a platform.

Take the next eye block up, and jump to a platform on the right. Take another
eye block left – be sure to duck under the spikes as you go – and use the
platforms in to reach the door.

Turn into the monkey, and climb the wall to reach another eyeball statue – same
routine as before. Take the key, and go back over the wall. Fall through the
hole in the floor, and go left.

Ride the eyeball platform up, and go left to the next room. Make your way left,
again using the dark areas of the room to hide from enemies.

Be careful of the hidden vines in the next room – move carefully to avoid
them. Unlock the gate at the end, and hide in the dark areas whilst fighting the
enemy on the other side. Once he’s down, keep moving left to the next room.

Ride the eye block left to a green platform, and take another eye block up. Rest
on the green platform at the top, and take the eye block left to the next room.

Another eyeball stature awaits – you should know what to do to get the key (the
eye needs to be facing left). Return to the previous room afterwards.

Ride the eye block right, and the next one down. Drop down the shaft to the
left, and through the door on the right.

Unlock the gate, and move carefully right through the room, being careful of the
hidden vines in this room.

Cackle Mound Labyrinth Warp Squid 3
When you reach the eye block, ride it all the way up through a hidden passage to
find the squid.

Drop down, and ride the eye block up again, but this time get off to the left
and crawl through the passage.

Fight the enemy, and use the monkey to reach a jar containing a 1up. Keep
climbing the wall to reach the door to the next room.

Another eyeball statue – do I need to explain this? Grab the key, and go back to
the previous room.

Fall back to the ground floor, and head right. Unlock the gate, and keep going
right. Head up the shaft, and crawl through the passage on the right to find
another enemy – defeat it, and fall down the shaft that opens up to find a mask
enemy – defeat it by attacking the mask that lights up. Repeat this until it’s
dead, and fall down the shaft again. Go left to find another enemy to defeat,
and go to the next room.

Drop down the shaft to find the Guardian Genie of this labyrinth – she will
teach you the spider dance – Down, A – use it to climb up the webs to get back
to the door, and return to the previous room.

Use the spider again to ascend the shaft, and go through the door.

Cackle Mound Labyrinth Warp Squid 4
Turn into the monkey, and follow the arrow up through the hidden passage.

Drop back down, and head to the right. Take the eye block up, and go left. Climb
up the right shaft, and head right. Go through the next room to find yourself
back in the ramp room. This time, turn into the spider, and use the webs to
cross to the other side of the room, and the door there.

Another eyeball statue awaits – this on is slightly different because there are
two eyes, and both eyeballs must be pointing up. Concentrate on one eyeball at a
time, and try not to whip one out once you have it pointing in
the right direction.

Afterwards, grab the key, and return to the ramp room. Go back over the webs,
and return to the shaft room. Head up the left shaft to the top left of the
room, and go through the door.

Head left, and use the spider to climb the shaft using the webs. At the top,
stock up on health, and go through the door to face the boss.

Boss: Cackle Mound Guard

This boss is actually fairly easy – attack him with when he walks towards you –
the Elbow Dash is good choice, but you need to be careful and make sure you have
enough time to charge it up, and you won’t get stuck afterwards. The main thing
to watch out for is when the boss curls into a ball and charges around
the room – jump over him when he comes at you, and dodge when he falls from the
ceiling.

Once the boss is dead, grab the Simmer Stone, and you’ll be outside again.

[8.9. Climbing the Mountains (CLMO)]

Swamp
-----

After the conversation, head right and save your game. Turn around, and go back
left to reach the Snail Wasteland – there’s some more items go get before the
next dungeon.

Snail Wasteland
---------------

Head left until you reach the block you bashed earlier – bash it again, and head
down the ladder. Head through the passage to a new area.

Hidden Area
-----------

Use the monkey to climb up the passage.

Firefly 5
At the top of the passage.

Drop down to the ground, and head left. Climb the wall. Climb down the ladder at
the top, drop down the hole, and head right to find the Elephant Tote – you can
now attack as the elephant by pressing down whilst jumping/falling.

Climb back up the shaft, being careful of the spikes on the way. Climb up the
ladder, and head back to Snail Wasteland, and left through the Rain Storm area
until you reach Water Town.

Water Town
----------

Save, use the bath house, and buy some float muffins at the shop. Leave town,
and head left.

Waterfall
---------

Go left, and head for the bottom left of the area. Change into the spider, and
climb up the wall.

Firefly 6
At the top of the wall, underneath the platform.

Climb down, change back into Shantae, and head for the left exit to Dribble
Fountain Labyrinth.

Dribble Fountain Labyrinth
--------------------------

Now you have the spider transformation, you can go back to this area and grab
the warp squid you missed the first time around.

Go inside, and whip the grate. Go through, drop down the shaft, and go right.
Change into the spider, and crawl along the grate.

Dribble Fountain Labyrinth Warp Squid 5
On the platform above the grate.

Go back left, and use the monkey to climb the shaft. Head left to the exit, and
go left to the Spider Forest.

Afterwards, slide to the bottom. Continue left through Scarecrow Field until you
reach Scuttle Town.

the wall with spikes on either side, change to the spider, and climb up.

Firefly 7
On a platform on the top, use the monkey to climb up.

Drop back down, and head back right to the ladder to the Ladies Desert. Climb
down, go through the passage until you reach the desert, and head left to Oasis
Town.

Oasis Town
----------

Save, buy some twin mints, and visit the bath house. Leave, and head left.

Mud Bog
-------

Head left until you reach a wall.

Firefly 8
Change to the monkey, and climb the wall. The firefly is floating at the top.

Drop down, and head to the other side of block. Change to the elephant, and bash
the block. Change to Shantae, and climb down the ladder.

At the bottom, use a float muffin to cross the gap.

Heart Holder 4
On the other side of the gap.

Use another float muffin to get back to the other side, and climb up the ladder.

Head left through the bog, jumping across gaps in the bridge, and defeating
mud enemies (ones that drop down from the ceiling are trickier kill – best to
avoid them).

Use the elephant to bask blocks when you reach them, and climb the walls using
the monkey. Keep going left until you reach the next area.

Eagle Wasteland
---------------

Head left – try to avoid the eagles, as they are difficult to kill, and have a
long range on their attacks.

Use the spider to climb walls and avoid the spikes.

Firefly 9
Head left to find firefly on a ledge.

Head left until you reach Bandit Town.

Bandit Town
-----------

Once inside, there are two new areas:

The Rusty Gullet – Go here to advance the plot.
Advanced Genie – If you are playing on a Game Boy Advance, you can get a new
               dance here – I wasn’t playing on a GBA so I can’t tell you
too much about it – please let me know if you have more
               information.

Here’s the shop list:

Vial 1 – 55

them later.

Leave town, and head right.

Eagle Wasteland
---------------

Head right until you reach the area where you found the firefly. Go left to
the high wall – use the spider for this – then use the monkey to climb the wall.
Head left at the top to reach a new area.

Mount Pointy
------------

Head left, kill the enemies in the way, and use the monkey to climb the walls.
When you reach a dead end, use the monkey to climb the shaft in the ceiling.

Keep climbing up and heading left until you reach the top. Talk to the genie to
open the labyrinth entrance.

[8.10. Twinkle Palace Labyrinth (TWPL)]

Head right from the entrance, and change into the elephant. Bash the ice block
in the centre, and defeat the enemy that breaks out. Go through the door (you
can find a heart in the vase in the top right corner).

Climb the shaft using the monkey, and go right. Repeat what you just did with
the ice block in the next room, and continue right.

You’ll see a warp squid below – you can’t get it yet, so leave it for now.
Dodge the cannonballs, and go right through the door.

In this room, whip the picture panels until you solve the puzzle. Grab the key,
and go back to the first shaft room. Drop down the shaft, and go right.

Slide down the ledge, go right, and drop off the ledge and change to the monkey.

Twinkle Palace Labyrinth Warp Squid 1
Climb the vertical shaft past the warp, and go left.

Drop down the shaft, change back to Shantae, and jump into the warp. Go up to
return to the ledge at the top.

Twinkle Palace Warp Squid Labyrinth Warp Squid 2
Do a running jump from the ledge to land on a platform with the squid

Drop down to the bottom, and go right to the wall. Use the monkey to climb the
wall – jump to the platform to avoid the spikes, and back to the wall. Climb to
the door, and go through the door.

Jump across the spikes and holes, and hide in the alcoves to dodge the
cannonballs. Whip the vase beneath the second cannonball launcher for a 1up.
Another 1up is on the platform above the first cannonball launcher. Go through
the door on the right.

Another ice block/enemy combo in here – same as before. Keep going right to
another block puzzle. Solve it like the last one, take the key, and go back to
the warp/warp squid room.

Drop down to the ground, and go through the door on the left. Head left through
the next two rooms, dodging cannonballs and spikes as you go.

Unlock the gate, and jump from the top of the ramp to warp. Press left twice
in the warps, and quickly press and hold left whilst falling to land in an
alcove, and head left through the door.

Another ice block with an enemy is in this room – same as before. Go left
afterwards, and use the monkey to climb the shaft to a door on the right.

Solve the block puzzle for another key, and go back left. Drop down the shaft,
and unlock the left gate. Go through.

Fall into the pit on the left-hand side. Craw right, and jump up at the second
hole to reach another ice-block with an enemy – same as before. Go through the
left door afterwards.

use the harpy transformation to fly back up the shaft. Go back to the shaft
room. Fly up the right shaft to the top, and go through the door.

crawl left to find the squid.

Use the warp to head back up, and go right again through the door. Fly over the
gap using the harpy to reach the next room.

Use the monkey to dodge the cannonballs by hiding in the gaps under the
platforms. Climb the shaft and go through the door.

Another block puzzle – you know what to do. Take the key, and go back to the
shaft room. Fly to the door on the top left of the room. Unlock the gate, and go
left.

Twinkle Palace Labyrinth Warp Squid 4
Use the harpy to fly up the shaft, and find the squid on a ledge on the left.

Drop back down the shaft, go back right to the other shaft room. Go to the third
door down on the right.

Head to the launcher room where you had to press left quickly to reach the
alcove. Use the harpy to reach the two 1ups on the platforms here. Go right to
find a room with a shaft in the middle of the ceiling.

Fly all the way up the shaft, and go right two rooms. Fly up the spike shaft,
and go right to find another ice-block/enemy – do I need to explain this by now?

Go right afterwards to find a block puzzle – if you don’t know what to do by
now, there’s no hope for you.

Take the key, and head back to the warp/warp squid room.

Twinkle Palace Labyrinth Warp Squid 5
Change to the harpy, and fly up the shaft in the ceiling.

Return to the shaft room where you found warp squid 4. Fly up the shaft, and go
to the gate on the top right. Unlock the gate, and go right to the boss room.

Boss: Twinkle Palace Guard

Change to the harpy, and land on the boss’s head three times to make him land.
Land yourself, change back to Shantae, and whip him until he flies back up
again. Repeat this until the dragon is gone, and then whip the rider to end
this.

to Ladies Desert.

Ladies Desert
-------------

Change to harpy, fly up, and then right to find the telescope. Examine the
telescope to be warped to Tinkerbat Island.

[8.12. Tinkerbat Island (TBIS)]

This is it – the final stretch. It’s fairly simple, with only one path to
follow.

Start by heading right, killing the tinkerbats as you come across them, and
jumping the spikes. Fall down the shaft, go right, until you come across a
pillar. Use the elephant to smash it, and keep moving. You’ll come across a
pillar of several tinkerbats – just whip them down. Change to the monkey, and
enter the pipe at the end.

Make your way through pipes, taking the low route to get through (if you go
high, you’ll find a heart – use it if you’re low on health). Keeping heading
right, until you come across a mechanical tinkerbat – use your strongest attacks
to kill it.

At the end, there’s a pipe in the ceiling. Jump up into it, and you’ll end up in
a cannon. Use it to kill the tinkerbats in the shaft and reach the top, angling
the cannon as you need to.

Keep moving right, bash another pillar, and another thinkerbat tower, and
destroy a mechanical tinkerbat. Use the harpy to fly through the spiked area.

Another mechanical tinkerbat fight awaits. Afterward, head right and enter the
pipe in the ceiling.

Use the cannon again like before, and head right. Jump the spikes, kill the
tinkerbats, and use the monkey to enter the pipe at the end. Go left and down
until you find a heart. Climb into the right pipe, and fall into a new box.
Drop into the pipe in the floor, and head to the end.

Head right, and use the elephant to bash the door. Get ready for the final
battle!

Final Boss 1: Tinkertank

This boss is actually pretty easy. Fly up using the harpy until you land on the
top of the tank. Change to the monkey and drop inside. Climb up and go into the
two passages on the left and right into the arms. Attack the gears there to
expose the first two stones. Attack these stones until they vanish, and the arms
extend. Go back into the arms and drop further to find more gears. Attack these
to make the other stones appear. Attack them to make the Steam Engine appear.
Attack this to destroy the tank.

Final Boss 2: Risky Boots

Risky can be tricky, but the actual technique to defeating her is easy. Just
dodge her sword attacks and whip her when you have the chance. Jump over her
sword charge, and stay on the ground when she does a diagonal attack into the
air. When she whips out a gun, jump over the shots, and jump over the sword
throw when she starts to do that. Just keep dodging and whipping and she’ll go
down.

After the battle there’s a simple escape sequence – just fly upward whilst
dodging the fireballs.

Once you’re out, you’ll get the end sequence – enjoy it!!!

[9. Squid Locations (SQLO)]

Inside every labyrinth, there are 5 warp squids. Find them, and take them to the
warp squid hut in one of the towns – for every 4 you deliver, you learn a warp
dance to allow you to return to each town quickly.

You won’t find all 5 at once – you’ll need to return later with a new
transformation to get the final one.

Dribble Fountain Labyrinth Warp Squids

1. Shortly after the mini-boss and the first lobster creature – crawl through
the gap to the left to find it.
2. Shortly after the second lobster creature fight – go down the shaft shortly
afterwards, and crawl through the hole to right and jump to the platform –
beware of the fireballs.
3. After getting the monkey transformation, use the monkey climb back up the
shaft, head left to find the platform with the squid on it.
4. In a hidden room at the top of a shaft after the room where you have to
dodge the fireballs – climb the shaft and use the monkey to enter a hidden room
at the top.
5. At the bottom of the shaft near the entrance – drop down, go right, and use
the spider to crawl along the grate to find the spider on a platform at the top.

Golem Mine Labyrinth Warp Squids

1. On the first lift, stop at the two windows on either side of the shaft – the
squid is through the right window.
2. Once you have the elephant, go back to the first room, and jump across the
gap leading to the lift shaft – use the elephant to break the spikes there,
defeat the enemies, and head to the top left – the squid is in the hidden
passage.
3. In the lift shaft, go down one level - there are some more spikes on the left
– break them with the elephant, go through the door to the left wall to find a
hidden passage – jump up it, and head through the enemies – the squid is at the
end.
4. Back in the shaft, there some spikes halfway down that can be reached with
the monkey – climb to them, and use the elephant to break them down – head right
through the enemies to find the squid at the end of the passage.
5. In the lava room where you have to bash the elephant-shaped rock to drop
the spikes – jump across the spikes to the other side of the lava, and use the
harpy to fly up to the squid.

Cackle Mound Labyrinth Warp Squids

1. In the second room, at the top of the right wall – use the monkey to reach
it.
2. In the room where you ride the eye block to avoid the spikes – the warp squid
is on a platform on the right of the room.
3. In the third eye block room – ride the block all the way up through a secret
passageway in the ceiling.
4. After getting the spider transformation, head back to the previous room, go
up the shaft to the next room – use the monkey to head through hidden passageway
marked by arrow.
5. In the slideroom, slide down to bottom, and use harpy to fly up and to the
right of the bottom ramp – the warp squid is there.

Twinkle Palace Labyrinth Warp Squid

1. In the big room with all the warps, drop off the ledge as you enter, and
change to the monkey to climb the wall – the squid is in a hidden passage past
the warp.
2. In the same room as the first squid, do a running jump off the ledge – the
squid is on a platform.
3. After getting the harpy dance, use the harpy to return to the previous room.
Fly up the right shaft into a new room, and jump across the gaps, and crawl
under the platform on the other side – the squid is under there.
4. After the shaft where you have to dodge cannonballs, through the gate on the
top left – change to the harpy and fly up to find it on the left.
5. In the same room as the first two squids – use the harpy to fly up to the
ceiling to find the squid.

[10. Firefly Locations (FFLO)]

Scattered throughout the game world you’ll find twelve fireflies. Collect them,
and take them back to the Firefly Shrine in Water Town to find a special scroll
containing a new health-restoring dance.

Be aware that you need to be searching at night to find the fireflies, as that’s
the only time they appear.

1. Scarecrow Field – you need to use the monkey to climb the tall pillar
structure you come across in this area.
2. Waterfall Area – when you enter from Spider Forest you’ll see it below you –
you need to use the spider to climb the wall to reach it.
3. Rain Storm Area – Should be above you in plain sight as you make your way
through the area.
4. Naga Wasteland – Platform in the air past the ladder that leads to Ladies
Desert – use the spider to climb the wall between the two sets of spikes, and
use the monkey to reach the platform.
5. Snail Wasteland – On a wall that you need to use the spider to climb.
6. Hidden Waterfall Area – Bash a block in Snail Wasteland with the elephant to
reveal a ladder – go down, go through the passage to find the area – use the
monkey to climb the walls.
7. Ghost Forest – After you smash a tree stump down with the elephant, go right
to find a wall – climb the trees and jump to the wall – the firefly is in an
alcove.
8. Ghost Forest – Fly up the left edge of the area with the harpy.
9. Mud Bog – At the first wall, use the monkey to climb the wall above you to
find the firefly.
10. Eagle Wasteland – At the right edge, use the spider to climb the walls – the
firefly is on the ledge.
11. Mount Pointy – Drop to the save point from the Twinkle Palace Labyrinth, and
climb up with the monkey/fly up with the harpy to find the firefly on the side
of the mountain.
12. Archer Forest – on the right edge, on top of a pillar structure.

[11. Heart Holder Locations (HHLO)]

Like in the Legend of Zelda games, you start out with three hearts in your
health meter – and also like Zelda, that won’t be enough as the game goes on.

This is where the heart holders come in – collect one, and it adds an extra
heart to the meter, up to a total of 10.

Like the fireflies, the heart holders are found outside of the dungeons – unlike
the fireflies though, you can find them at any time.

1. Scarecrow field, on top of a tall pillar – you’ll need the monkey to reach
it.
2. Spider Forest, on the large hill with the slippery slopes – use the spider to
climb the wall to reach it.
3. Naga Wasteland, in the cave down the first ladder you come across – you’ll
need vanish cream to pass the gate.
4. Male Desert, in the air on the right-hand side – use the harpy to fly up to
find the platform it’s on.
5. Mud Bog, in a cave on the right-hand side – use the elephant to smash a
rock, go down into the cave, and float across the gap with the float muffins
or use the harpy.
6. Mount Pointy, cliff left of Twinkle Palace Labyrinth – use the harpy to fly
to it.
7. Archer Forest, in a cave beneath a tree stump – bash the stump with the
elephant, use a twin muffin in the cave, and dance in front of the clown to make
him give it to you.
