===================================DISCLAIMER==================================
I have decided not to allow websites other than Gamefaqs (www.gamefaqs.com),
IGN (faqs.ign.com) & Gamespot (www.gamespot.com) to host my FAQs from now on.
Please don't ask, because I will not grant permission.  It's just that too many
sites don't keep their version of my FAQ up to date which makes for a lot of
hassle in my mailbox.
So if anyone sees this FAQ on any site other than those mentioned above, please
let me know and I will take care of the situation, thanks.

Just to make things crystal clear for some people, this FAQ is not to appear
anywhere at the following URLs:

[A small word of warning, I will be putting the dialogue from the game in the
FAQ at the points where it takes place so if you don't want to see it you can
just skip over it.]

------------
Scuttle Town
------------

When you first start the game you will see a pirate ship in the background fire
a cannonball at your house.  Naturally you're angry and the game dialogue takes
over from there:

"Shantae: What?  Not another Pirate attack!  I'd better warn Scuttle Town!!"

Now you get to walk/run right (take it at your own pace) while the pirate ship
fires cannonballs at you.  If you watch for their shadows then they shouldn't
be much of a bother to you.

However shortly after you pass a large support pillar for the bridge that
you're on you will notice that the cannonballs will create holes in some areas
when they hit.  You will now have to jump these holes instead of simply walking
past the cannonballs, but the task is still rather easy.

Once you pass a second support pillar you'll want to run right to the next
screen without stopping as the bridge below you will collapse.

Now you'll see the pirate ship sail ahead and fire a giant cannonball in front
of you, after a moment a few pirates will leap out and head right, then the
captain of the ship will arrive and talk to you.

"Shantae: So you're behind this attack!  Risky Boots, the lady-pirate!

Risky: "In the flesh!  Sorry about your shack darling.  I thought you were a
Guardian Genie, not some scrawny kid!  Well no matter!  Gotta haul booty!

Shantae: Ooooh... She's up to no good, that's for sure!  Well, if I'm gonna
earn my keep as Scuttle Town's Genie, I'd better stop her!"

Now that you're in Scuttle Town you'll need to catch up with Risky Boots, and
try to stop her.  Head right past some fleeing townsfolk and walk up some
stairs when you reach them, you should see some torches falling on your left.

There's an enemy throwing them above you so you'll need to carefully jump up
and attack him with your hair.  Run right and climb some more stairs, then kill
another enemy above you.

Run right across a bridge and jump up some boxes to kill another enemy, then
jump on top of the building and a giant cannonball will land to your right.

Enemies will continue to jump out of it until you destroy the cannonball so
it's up to you whether or not you want to do that right away.  I would
recommend killing some enemies and collecting some gems, before proceeding
right.

Run right and down some stairs, then continue right for a large heart just
inside a building.  You can then use the red awning and roofs to get up to
another cannonball, fight the enemies if you want more gems/health before
destroying the cannonball.

Drop off the ledge on your right and continue in that direction, another
cannonball will land ahead of you.  Head right afterwards and once you drop you
can head left for another big heart if needed, otherwise continue right and
jump to the roof to meet another cannonball.

Drop and go right for another cannonball, then head right some more as the sky
becomes red.  Go right and run up the stairs, then slowly approach the barrel.
When you get close a pirate will burst out of it, so get rid of him quickly.

Jump up the pair of platforms onto the roof for another barrel.  Run right for
another barrel and run left up the stairs, then take care of another barrel
before going up the stairs on your right.

Use the boxes to reach the roof on your right, then run right down the stairs
to reach a barrel.  Go left down more stairs to reach another barrel, then
proceed right down the next set of stairs.

The sky will change colour again and you will see a barrel ahead of you, go
right and drop down.  There is a large heart on your left if needed, otherwise
head right across the bridge.  Be sure to back up a little when the pirates
jump at you though, otherwise one will land on you.

Proceed right to see some pirates in the background using a battering ram on a
wall, continue right for a large heart if needed otherwise get ready for some
timed jumping.

You should see bricks in the background that stick out, these are the
platforms.  However because of the pirates below they move in and out at
regular intervals, so basically you need to jump to the next platform before
your current one disappears and work your way up.

After the fourth platform you can jump left to a ledge for a break, there will
be another ledge on the left after the next three platforms.  From here it's
just two more platforms to reach the roof, then you can go right and jump to a
higher roof.

Go right and beware of the three cannons in the background, then run right to
see some pirates steal a Steam Engine and meet up with your friend Mimic.

"Shantae: Mimic!  Hey old man!  Are you OK?

Mimic: Moan...Look what those Tinkerbats did to my workshop!  I've gotta stop
them before they escape with my Steam Engine!

Shantae: Steam Engine?  What's a Steam Engine?

Mimic: I'll explain later!  Right now we have to get it back!!

Shantae: You stay put!  I'll handle this!"

Now you'll want to run right and stand on the two burple blocks, they should
crumble after a second or two.  Fall down and repeat this method until you land
on some stairs.

There's a large heart on both sides of you so get them if you need them,
otherwise jump onto the roof on your right.  Kill the pirate that jumps out of
the window up ahead, then cross the bridge and beware of jumping pirates.

Use the boxes to jump up to the roof and drop down the other side, then head
down the stairs and beat the pirate in the window.  Beat another pirate in the
boxes up ahead, then use the boxes to jump onto the pirate ship beyond and walk
right to meet up with Risky Boots.

"Shantae: That's far enough Risky!  Where's the Steam Engine?

Risky: None of your business!  More importantly, you people have been using my
sea without paying my fee, and now you're in a lot of hot water!

Shantae: That's ridiculous!  The ocean is free for everyone to enjoy!  Just who
do you think you are?

Risky: Who am I?  I'm Risky Boots, queen of the Seven Seas, and anyone who
opposes me will be crushed flat!  Men!!  Spank this one extra hard for mommy!!"

The boss battle then begins, it's a basic pattern of three bouncing cannonballs
being fired one after another.  This is then followed by two pirates walking
towards you from the right.  If you run right up to the wall then the
cannonballs will go right over you, just be sure to head back left so you can
jump/attack the pirates.  Once you jump over (or attack) them you should
attack the barrel inside the door that they came out of.  Repeat this pattern
until the barrel explodes and ends the battle.

The explosion will knock you onto the leftmost of three pillars above the
water, there are three windows above you.  Pirates will toss explosives down at
you from these windows, so you must avoid their shots and attack the barrels
that they hold above them before they throw them at you.  Once all three
windows are destroyed (four shots each) and you're standing on the middle
pillar you'll meet up with Risky again.

"Risky: I went easy on you this time, but next time I'll be steam-powered and
unstoppable!  Ho Ho Ho!"

You'll then drift towards the shore where the Mayor of Scuttle Town is waiting.

"Mayor: Good job, Shantae!  You certainly made short work of those bandits!
Hiring a town Genie was a dandy idea indeed!

Shantae: Sigh... Maybe it's time I told him I'm only a Half-Genie.  Then
Scuttle Town could get a real Guardian Genie to protect them.  How did I let
things get so screwed up?

Mimic: Shantae!  What happened?  Where's my Steam Engine?

Shantae: I'm sorry Mimic.  Risky got away with the Steam Engine, and now she's
going to use it to destroy Scuttle Town!  Oooh!  If only I were a real Genie!
Then I'd show that Risky a thing or two!

Mimic: I'm afraid it will take more than Genie magic this time.  Let me explain
from the beginning...

It all started on my last dig when I unearthed an ancient vault.  Hidden inside
was a diagram of a strange contraption.  Here's how the thing works.  A steel
chamber full of water is heated, like so.  The water becomes steam, blasting
out the top with enough pressure to turn a wheel indefinitely!  Steam-powered
muscle like that could change the world!

Mimic: I used the plans to build a Steam Engine of my own.  I was almost done
when that vixen swiped it!

Shantae: Hmm... She seemed to be headed towards Water Town.  Maybe there's
still a chance to get the engine back!

Mimic: That'a girl!  Just be sure you visit the SAVE ROOM before you leave
town.  Good luck Shantae!"

Head left to enter the hub of Scuttle Town, the layout of which is pictured
below.

Scuttle Town Gates {-} Dance Parlor {-} Warp Squid Hut {-} Mimic's Dock {-}
Bath House {-} Save Room {-} Item Shop {-} Scuttle Town Gates

Here is what all the other areas mean:

Save Room - Lets you save your game.

Item Shop - Not surprisingly lets you exchange your gems for items.

Scuttle Town Gates - Leave the town and enter other areas.

Dance Parlor - Try your luck at dances to win extra gems, only open at night.
I find C is the best rank to try for, not too fast/difficult
with good gem payout but start with E rank and work your way
up until you find a level that works for you.  You can also
              cheat and save before playing.

Bath House - Restores you to full health.

Warp Squid Hut - If you find four warp squids and bring them here you will
                receive an item.

Use the bath house if you need the health and use the save room, ignore the
item shop if you don't have 20 gems, otherwise get them outside of town and
buy vanish cream.  Exit the town through the gates, you now have the option
of going left or right and we'll be going left (when it's day).

Attack the enemies and avoid their shots, then jump a few gaps as you proceed
left.  Once you reach the wall you'll want to crawl under it and climb down
the ladder.  Use your vanish cream here and head right to sneak past the gate,
then grab the heart holder and return to Scuttle Town.  Heal yourself and
save, then head right to the Scarecrow Field.

---------------
Scarecrow Field
---------------

The enemies in this area burst up out of the ground and throw three spears
before walking towards you, one hit knocks them on their backs and another hit
beats them.

Head right across the bridge and jump the gap when you get to it, then running
jump from the pillar to another pillar beyond the gap.  Kill the bat creature
above you if you want, then jump another gap and continue right across a
bridge.

In this cornfield area you'll have to deal with scarecrows that take two hits
to kill, they're not hard to beat.  Work your way past them to a bridge on your
right, then you'll be back to dealing with the moles.

Proceed right and ignore the tower, then jump a gap and go right past a bridge
into more cornfield.

You won't be in it long as you reach another bridge and more moles on the other
side.

Jump a gap and walk right to enter a forest.

-------------
Spider Forest
-------------

Head right and pass underneath the fallen tree, avoid spiders' shots and attack
them but avoid the flying demon creatures.  They will try to land on you and
they take too long to destroy.

Jump another log and head right over a hill, kill the spiders on the other side
before jumping the gap.  Run up the hill and go down the log on the other side,
beware of the spider and continue right.

Jump a series of gaps and go right underneath a hill, continue right and jump a
fallen log before walking up another one.  Jump up the hidden tree branches to
reach the next log and walk down it to the other side, then jump a fallen log
and go right to some gaps.

Jump across them and go over a hill, then talk to the person on the other side
to save your game before entering the next area.

Ignore the fountain here for now and go right to enter the next area.

---------
Waterfall
---------

Proceed right and avoid the fish enemies as you fall all the way down to the
ground below, then head carefully right as an enemy pokes repeatedly from
behind the waterfall.

Jump a pair of gaps and avoid the snakes beyond as you go right, then jump on
the log beyond before jumping right.  Work your way up the ledges and branches
to the top, then jump right across the large gap there.

Go right until you land on a branch, then running jump right from it to land on
a small ledge.  Walk right, then you can do a running jump from the branch to
reach the next ledge.

Work your way up many ledges and branches, then jump a pair of gaps on your
right.  Now walk right and fall all the way down to a ledge beside a log, then
running jump from the log to the ledge on the right.

Jump up four ledges and use the branches to clear the gap, then head right and
drop carefully down so you don't get hit by the enemy in the waterfall.  Jump
over it and use the log to continue right, then avoid the snakes as you run
right to the next area.

----------
Water Town
----------

Enter Water town through the gates and have a look at its hub layout:

Water Town Gates {-} Warp Squid Hut {-} Bolo's Gazebo {-} Item Shop {-}
Firefly Shrine {-} Bath House {-} Save Room {-} Water Town Gates

Here is what the new areas mean:

Bolo's Gazebo - You'll go here to talk to Bolo and advance the plot.
Firefly Shrine - Once you find 12 fireflies then this place will have meaning.

The first place you need to go is Bolo's Gazebo to talk to Bolo.

"Shantae: Hi Bolo!  I thought I'd find you here!  We've got an emergency in
Scuttle Town!

Bolo: Things have been rather exciting here too!  We just got a visit from the
infamous lady-pirate Risky Boots!

Shantae: She came here already?  And she didn't attack?

Bolo: Pfaw!!  Not at all!  She just wanted directions to the Dribble Fountain.

Shantae: What?  You didn't give them to her did you!?

Bolo: She sure was pretty!  ...And that outfit!  Hoo-hoo!

Shantae: Arrrgh!!  You imbecile!  Now I've got to get there first!  Where is
this place!?

Bolo: You prob'ly passed it on the way here.  The aqueduct below it is locked
up tight, though.  I 'spose I could show you how it opens...

Shantae: You bet you will!  You're in the doghouse as it is!  I'll meet you at
the DRIBBLE FOUNTAIN, and you'd better be there!!"

Use the bath house if you need the health and use the save room, ignore the
item shop for now and exit the town through the gates.  You now have the option
of going left or right, we'll be going left for now.

Work your way back left through the waterfall area to reach the Dribble
Fountain.  I would recommend staying as low as possible and jumping the logs,
be careful when passing any waterfall for enemies behind them.  And of course
climb up high when you can't go any further left, you've been through here
before you should be fine.

----------------
Dribble Fountain
----------------

You will meet up with Bolo here and talk a bit.

"Shantae: There you are!  What are you doing now you idiot!?

Bolo: I can smell her perfume!  So beautiful and alluring!

Shantae: Oooooh...!  Snap out of it!!  I've got to get inside.  Whatever
Risky's after is worth investigating!

Bolo: Stand back!  A quick flick of the wrist and...  There!  That oughtta do
it!  ...You go on inside.  I'll wait here in case she comes back!

Jump to the door and enter the labyrinth.

--------------------------
Dribble Fountain Labyrinth
--------------------------

You will meet Risky Boots inside and start to talk.

"Shantae: There you are!!  Hold it you rat!

Risky: Huh?  It's that silly girl again!

Risky: Try if you like, but you'll never keep up with me!  Ta-Ta!"

Risky will then jump down a narrow opening and escape you, you're going to want
to jump onto the platform that has the water flowing out of it.  Now crouch and
attack the grating on your right to open a passage, then crawl through.

Jump right and fall all the way down the shaft, then break the vases for some
gems and a heart before going right to the next room.

Jump from platform to platform without falling to your death below, be sure to
kill any enemies that get in your way on land or jumping out of the water
before entering the next room on the right.

Fall quickly down the shaft without being hurt be the electrified platforms,
then go left to the next room.

You will get locked in this room as you fight a mini-boss, he's really easy so
just attack him when he comes down from above and he should die quickly.  After
you get any dropped gems you can head left to the next room.

Running jump left and break the vase for a large gem, then drop down and kill
the enemy.  Head left and crawl through the gap for a warp squid, then crawl
left through another gap and fight another enemy.  Continue left and jump up
some platforms, but before going left to the next room jump right and get a
heart from the vase there.  Now crawl through the passage behind the vase to
get two large gems, then go left to the next room.

Jump on the moving platform and ride it left, then take a break on the platform
in front of the pillar.  Jump to the circular moving platform next, and jump
left off of it to land on a vertical moving platform.  Jump left to another
pillar platform before jumping left to another horizontal moving platform.
Before it goes back right jump left and get the 1up from the vase there.  Jump
to a vertical moving platform on your right and ride it up, then jump to a
stationary platform on your right.  Jump to a circular moving platform above
you when it gets close, then ride it to a stationary platform above you and
jump to it.  Finally ride a vertical moving platform on your right up to a
ledge and memorize the sequence of three symbols there.  Fall down the passage
in front of them and go right, use your head to spin the symbols here until
they match those that you saw earlier.  A key will then fall out so break its
container open and grab it.  Head right and fall down another passage to
end up back at the entrance to the room, then go right to the next room.

Jump right and crawl through the passage to get to the other side faster than
taking the low route, then go right through the next room.

Work your way carefully up the electrified platforms and unlock the door on
your right with the key that you just got.  Head right and attack an enemy and
vase before going right to the next room.

Run right to make it across the small gaps without falling or being hurt, then
jump the gap and work your way right while killing enemies if needed.  Now work
your way up the shaft, try to avoid the fireballs if you can and there should
be some hearts in vases partway up.  Once you reach the top you can go left to
the next room.

There's another pattern for you to memorize here so do that and go left to the
next room.

Reproduce the pattern in this room just like you did earler for the other key,
just make sure you don't fall down the passage below until the key falls out.
You can also get some gems from the vases before falling down the passage.
Break open the container and get the key, then go left for an enemy to beat and
a 1up in a vase beyond him.  Return right and crawl under the gap as you go
right and straight through the next room.

Work your way down the shaft while avoiding enemies, you can get a large gem on
the right partway down.  Once at the bottom you can crawl right for another
warp squid.  Return left and jump the gaps while avoiding enemies from the
water and on the land, then go left to the next room.

Avoid the fireballs and kill the enemies as you proceed left, then unlock the
door and get a gem from the vase before entering the room on your left.

Jump up and attack the top symbol to send it crashing to the ground, then kill
the enemies on your left as you head that way.  Get a gem from the vase and
work your way up the shaft, take the first door on your left to the next room.

Crawl under the gap and beat the enemy for a key, then bust open its container
and grab it.  You've done all you can do in this room for now so return right
to the previous room.

Running jump across the gap and unlock the door with your newest key, then get
a gem from the vase as you go right and memorize the pattern.  Continue right
and work your way up to a pattern pillar, start moving (with your hair) the
fallen slab left, then right onto the ground.  Now move it left down the
passage, right down the next passage and all the way left down the final
passage.  Now you can match the pattern from earlier to get yet another key.
Work your way back left and up to where you got the slab originally and use
your key on the door just below, then get some gems from the vases and go
right to the next room.

Crawl through the gap and get gems from the vases then talk to the Guardian
Genie in the cage to learn the monkey dance.

Now you'll want to test out your new dance, so press select first to start
dancing.  Now press down followed by right to transform into a monkey, this is
the monkey dance.

Now you can jump up the wall and go back left to the previous room.

Head left and jump up to the warp squid that you passed a while ago, then go
left and get a large gem (you'll need to become human again to open it) from
the vase.  Now go left through the door at the top of the shaft on your left.

Use the monkey to get to the very top of the shaft in this room and get a 1up
from the vase on the right and a heart from the other vase if you need it, then
return to the previous room.

Fall down to the ground and head right through the door to the next room.

Beware of the fireballs as you go right to the next room.

Head right across the gaps like you've done before, then work your way up the
shaft and go left to the next room.

Work your way to the top of the shaft then use the monkey to get a warp squid
above you in a hidden passage.  Drop down and (in human form) run left across
the gaps and enter the next room.

Proceed left to the shaft and use the monkey to jump up the wall, then get some
hearts near the top.  Continue your climb and grab a gem before entering the
door on the right.

Kill the two enemies here and continue right to the next room.

Grab hearts here if you need them and go right to the boss room.

You will meet up with risky here and start talking.

"Shantae: Wow!  What is this place?

Risky: Ho Ho HO!  The legendary Dribble Stone, mine for the taking!!  Why pour
water into that Steam Engine when this thing will power it forever!  --What!?
AIEEEEEE!!"

The boss will then appear and the battle will begin, though it's really not
that hard or long a battle.  The boss just floats left and right while his eye
spins around, you need to whip him in the eye with your hair a few times and he
will die.  Sometimes though he will go down into the water below and send a
wave up to you, when you see this happening you'll want to jump up the wall
with the monkey (once you transform) to avoid it.  He also has an attack where
he goes off the side of the screen then flies by you really low, so just jump
over this when you see it.  After about five hits he will die and you can pick
up the Dribble Stone.

You will then end up outside the labyrinth and talk with Bolo.

"Shantae: Bolo!  Are you alright!?

Bolo: She touched me!  I'll never wash this head again!

Shantae: Are you nuts?  She knocked you on your rear!!  Get up, get up!  Tell
me everything you know about this Dribble Stone!

Bolo: Hey cool!  You found a legendary relic!  There are supposed to be four
kinds of these stones...  Each one represents a different element.  The one
you found produces an endless supply of water!  There's also an unbreakable
GOLEM STONE, a fiery SIMMER STONE, and a very chilly TWINKLE STONE.

Shantae: Any idea where the others are?

Bolo: Not really.  But the Golem Stone was lost in a desert near Oasis Town
according to my Granny.  Ahhh Granny...  She has eyes like shining emeralds!

Shantae: You worthless mop-head!

Shantae: Can't you see that Risky is trying to upgrade the Steam Engine with
these magical stones?  It'll make the thing more dangerous than ever!  I've got
to get to Oasis Town before Risky does!"

If you don't have 300 gems by now, then go back into the labyrinth and get
them.  Afterwards go left a screen to save and then pass right through the
waterfall area (it's a lot faster with the monkey) to return to Water Town.

Use the Bath House if needed, then buy the boots from the Item Shop.  You now
have a spin kick attack (double-tap up) so remember to use that whenever you
want.  Now visit the save room and exit Water Town, wait until nightfall then
go right to the next area.

Kill/avoid the enemies as you jump a few gaps, you should see a firefly above
you so jump and get it.  Now you can return all the way left to use the save
point just left of the Dribble Fountain.

From here you can just go left through the Spider Forest and enter the
Scarecrow Field.  When you reach the stone pillars you should use the monkey to
climb on top of the platform above and get the heart holder there.  Now wait
until nightfall and jump left, jump to the third level of the pillars beside
you and get the firefly there.  Continue left to Scuttle Town and use the bath
house, also go to the dance parlor (at night) and raise your gem total to 400.
Use the save room and exit town, then go left to the Naga Wasteland.

--------------
Naga Wasteland
--------------

You've been here once before so work your way left to the ladder where the
heart holder was, then use the monkey to jump up the wall and continue left.
Attack more enemies and jump more gaps until you reach another wall, then use
the monkey once again to get over it.  Continue left across more gaps until you
reach a ladder then use it, then head left across gaps and fight bats before
you climb the ladder on the other side.

-------------
Ladies Desert
-------------

Work your way left and jump over any cactus that you find, otherwise you can
attack or avoid the enemies at your own leisure.  It's really not a difficult
area, and once you head right to the next area you'll be at Oasis Town.

----------
Oasis Town
----------

The hub for Oasis town is depicted below:

Oasis Town Gates {-} Warp Squid Hut {-} Item Shop {-} Sky's Hatchery {-}
Gecko Chamber {-} Bath House {-} Save Room {-} Oasis Town Gates

Here is what the new areas mean:

Sky's Hatchery - You'll go here to talk to Sky and advance the plot.
Gecko Chamber - This is a gambling game for earning gems, much like the Dance
Parlor in other towns.  If you're lucky you can earn a lot more
money here in a shorter amount of time, but this game is based
more on luck than skill.  You can also cheat a little and save
your game before playing in case you lose.

The first place you need to go is Sky's Hatchery to talk to Sky.

"Shantae: What are you doing in Oasis Town?

Sky: Hey Shantae!  I sold my war birds so I'm here on an egg hunt.  As you can
see, I've got some new trainees to keep me company!  What do you think?

Shantae: Great, but I don't see Wrench around.  You didn't sell him, did you?

Sky: Of course not!  I'd never part with him!  Would I Wrench?

Wrench: CAAAAW!

Sky: So how's the Genie business?  Are you still playing watchdog for that
dinky fishing hole?

Shantae: Scuttle Town's no hole!  Besides, right now it's turning up more
action than anyplace!  Which reminds me.  I'm searching for something called
the Golem Stone.  Ever hear of it?

Sky: Nope!  But there's a place called the Golem Mine a few miles into the
desert.  Could be some connection.  I'd show you where exactly but I need to
tend these eggs.  Would you like me to send Wrench to scout for you?

Shantae: Would you?  That'd be perfect!

Sky: Find the mine Wrench!  Go!!  Just head for the desert and keep your eyes
open for Wrench.  In the meantime I'll ask around with my messenger birds.
Deal?

Shantae: Deal.  Thanks Sky!  Bye!"

Now you should use the bath house and save room before leaving Oasis Town and
heading right.

Go back through the Ladias desert and the underground passage
back to the Naga Wasteland, then head left past enemies and gaps to reach the
Mens Desert.

-----------
Mens Desert
-----------

Similar to the ladies desert, work your way left past scorpion enemies and
cactus.  There are also little scarabs that fire multiple shots in the air so
you can either kill them or make timed jumps over their shots.  Once you get
far enough left you will see a building and Wrench, so go talk to Wrench.

"Shantae: Wrench!  There you are!  Can you help me get into this place?  I'm
fresh out of ideas!

Wrench: CAWWW!  CAWWWW!"

Wrench will then open the door for you, but before you enter the labyrinth
you'll want to head left a little more and save your game.

--------------------
Golem Mine Labyrinth
--------------------

Head right and attack the rock that moves when you get near it, then continue
right and get a large heart from the vase.  Just below you on your left is
another vase with a large gem, so get that before you drop to the ground.  Kill
more enemies as you go left and drop down the shaft, then proceed right to the
next room.

Take the elevator between the bottom floor and the one above it, you should see
a pair of windows in the walls.  Walk through the right one for a warp squid
before going all the way to the ground floor, then go right to the next room.

Kill the blue and red enemies above you then head right to the next room.

Jump across the three hanging platforms and get a 1up from the vase on your
right, then enter the red light above and return to the previous room.

Go down and let the blue creature run into you and attack it to get a key, then
go left to the elevator room.

Go up one floor and unlock the door on your right, then go right to the next
room.  In this room you can't really avoid being hit so just make it through to
the room on the other side alive.

Go right and lure the rock creature towards the weight near you, then when he's
right beside it you can crouch on it and attack him until he dies.  Fall down
the shaft and use the red light to fall further down, then use the blue light
and the monkey to fall even further down.  Jump over the enemies and enert the
red light beyond, then use the monkey to climb the wall above and enter a
hidden passage.  Follow the passage left and drop down beside some blue light,
DO NOT enter it.  Instead go left and climb up the wall, lure the creature
below left so it falls down a level.  Now drop down the wall and work your way
up to the creature, lure it down to the ground floor and right into the open.
Attack it in your human form for a key, then enter the room on your left above
the wall.

Unlock the door on your left and continue left to the wall, jump to a hidden
passage above you and fall left.  Talk to the Guardian Genie in the cage to
learn the Elephant dance.

Use your new dance and bash into the spikes on your right to destroy them, then
jump up the platforms beyond and go right to the previous room.

WOrk your way right to the blue light and use the passage above to avoid the
red light, then work your way back up the shaft and left to the next room.

On your way back through here you can actually avoid the enemies shots, there's
a passage above you that leads to the door on the left to the elevator room.

Take the elevator all the way up and go left to the first room.

Jump up the shaft and break the spikes on your left with the elephant, then
enter the room beyond.  Beat the magnet enemy and get a key from the box below,
then enter a passage in the top left corner of the room for a warp squid before
returning to the main elevator room.

Take the elevator all the way down and use the red light on the left, then go
up two floors in the elevator and break the spikes on your right with the
elephant before entering the room beyond.

Beat the rock creature to open the doors then enter the room on the right.

Crawl through the gap and beat the giant red magnet, then attack the blue
creature to get a key before returning left to the elevator room.

Use the elephant to smash the spikes on your left then enter the room beyond.

Head left and jump the gap, then go to the wall and enter the hidden passage
above you.  Work your way right for a warp squid, then return to the area below
the enemies.  Fall down the shaft and kill the rock creature, then use the
monkey to climb partway up the shaft and land beside the spikes on the right.
Switch to the elephant and break the spikes then work your way right for a warp
squid.  Work your way up the shaft and right to the elevator room.

Go down to the ground floor and head left to the next room.

Smash the elephant rock on you left as the elephant to make the spikes fall,
then use them as platforms to cross the lava and notice the warp squid above
you (you need the harpy to get it) as you enter the room beyond.

Unlock the first door and fall down the shaft, then take the elevator down and
get a large heart from the vase if you need it.  Unlock another door on your
right and head that way, then use the elephant to clear away the spikes.  Go
right afterwards and return to your human form before entering the boss room.

Risky will be here once again and you'll talk to her for a bit.

"Risky: Yoo Hoo!  Golem Stone!  Come to mama!

Shantae: I'm on to you Risky Boots!  You're trying to re-build the Steam Engine
using all four magical Relics!

Risky: Well well!  You're a smart little tag-along!  This single piece of golem
stone is the only metal strong enough to hold the other stones' power!  Once I
have all four stones in my possession, I'll create the most powerful weapon
this world has ever seen!  Ho Ho Ho!!

Risky: What!?

Risky: AIEEEEEEEE!"

This boss isn't terribly difficult, the hardest part is figuring out how to
beat him in the first place.  Notice the gem in the top of his head, that is
where you do the damage to him.  So as soon as the battle starts attack that
until it sinks into his head.  Next you'll want to stand on one of the moving
hands and become the elephant, now bash into the side of his head and he will
be stunned.  The gem will also reappear so start attack it rapidly until it
disappears again.  Repeat this basic pattern and he should be dead fairly
painlessly, sometimes though he will attack you with a serious of fireballs so
just keep moving to avoid them until they stop.  Now just pick up the Golem
Stone and get warped back outside where you'll talk with Wrench.

"Shantae: Wrench, you're back!  What's this, a note from Sky?  It reads: Dear
Shantae.  Someone named RottyTops replied to my message.  She says she knows
the whereabouts of the next magical stone!  She travels with the Zombie
Caravan, which is camped East of Water Town.  Hope this helps.  Friends always,
Sky.

Wrench: CAWWWW!

Shantae: Sounds like my next stop alright!  I'd better go find that caravan!"

Now you'll want to head left quickly to save and then work your way back to
Scuttle Town, buy some storm puffs while you're here you'll need them later to
power up the monkey.

Give back four warp squids here to learn the Scuttle Town Warp dance.  Use the
Bath House and Save Room before leaving town and going all the way right to
the Spider Forest.

When you reach the first tree stump bash it with the elephant to uncover a
ladder, this is part of a shortcut, but you'll need to find the other ladder
first before you can use it.  Continue right to the Waterfall area and use the
save point on your way.

Just below the left entrance of the Waterfall area is a ladder, go down that
ladder and work your way left to the forest on the other side.  Use the
elephant to bash the tree stump and you'll uncover another ladder, now you can
travel between this ladder and the other that you uncovered in the spider
forest to save time.  For now though just go left through the forest and into a
small cave.

Work your way through the cave and left through the forest beyond to a wall.
Use the monkey to get all the way up the wall, then use the elephant to bash
the tree stump.  Go down the ladder and equip your storm puffs, then use one on
the metallic enemy with the lightning rod on his head.  Crawl through the gap
and get the Monkey Claw on the other side, this allows you to attack with the
monkey.  Now work your way back right to Water Town.

Buy the sash and cuff from the Item Shop and use the bath house, then drop off
some warp squids to learn the warp for this town.  Finally use the Save room
before going right to the next area.

----------
Rain Storm
----------

Work your way right across gaps and past enemies until you reach a wall, then
use the monkey to get over it.  Head right some more and use the monkey to get
over another wall, then continue right as you jump some gaps and enter the next
area.

---------------
Snail Wasteland
---------------

Wait until night before passing through this area and you won't have to worry
about the snails.  Otherwise it's just more gap jumping and avoiding of
enemies, but before you reach the end go left a little and jump up some rocks.
Climb up the wall with the monkey and you can bash the stone up there with the
elephant.  Once again this passage is useless until you can find the other
ladder that it connects to, so just head right to the next area.

-----
Swamp
-----

This area is a LOT of gap jumping, there are also some enemies but you can
easily run past them or jump over them.  Be sure to use the save point halfway
before entering the next area.

------------
Ghost Forest
------------

Head right and use the elephant to bash the first tree stump to uncover the
ladder that leads back to the Snail Wasteland.  Continue right and jump all the
way to the top of the trees to make it over a slippery ramp, then use the
elephant to bash through the wall.  Use the monkey (at night) to jump up the
wall slightly left of the one you smashed for a firefly.  Continue right past
more ghosts and use the elephant to get past the next wall, then wait until
night before entering the next area otherwise you'll end up in the wrong place.

--------------
Zombie Caravan
--------------

The hub for Zombie Caravan is depicted below:

Caravan Gates {-} Warp Squid Wagon {-} Town Shop {-} Save Cart {-}
Bathing Wagon {-} Keep Out!! {-} Caravan Gates

You'll want to use the Bathing Wagon and Save Cart before entering the
"Keep Out!" area to talk to Rottytops.

"Shantae: Excuse me... I'm looking for a Zombie named Rottytops.

Rotty: I'm Rottytops!  Who are you?

Shantae: My name's Shantae.  You replied to my question about a magical stone
right?

Rotty: Oh that.  It's called the Simmer Stone because it burns endlessly.  It's
kept deep inside the Cackle Mound by a society of Shriekers.  What about it?

Shantae: I need to get to it before something terrible happens!  Can you show
me the way inside?

Rotty: Me show you!?  HA!!  Aren't you afraid to ask a Zombie for help?  I
might try to eat your brains!

Shantae: I thought only wild Zombies ate brains.

Rotty: Shows what you know.  Tell you what.  Let's have a little competition to
too see just how bad you want it!  If you win, I'll show you to the Simmer
Stone.  But if I win, your brains become a tasty snack for me and my pals!"

You then get to race Rottytops, the race isn't too hard you either jump over
stone barriers or slide under tree trunks.  Even if you lose it doesn't matter,
you just get to play the race again.  Once you win you'll talk with Rottytops
again.

"Rotty: You beat me!!  Dag nab!  Look Shantae, you've got passion and I like
that.  What do you say I help you get that Simmer Stone?  I promise to keep the
snacking to a minimum!

Shantae: Sigh...  I suppose.

Rotty: Then I'll meet you at the door of the Cackle Mound.  Later!"

Leav the caravan and go back left to the swamp, then go left (use the save
point on the way) to the building that you passed earlier to meet up with
Rottytops.

"Rotty: What's shakin' bacon?  Gimme a sec to figure this thing out.
Rotty: There we go!  Now listen up!  The walking nightmares that live in this
hole won't see you if you stay in the shadows...  But once you're spotted
things will get ugly!  Stay hidden as long as possible, and you might make it
out alive.

Shantae: Thanks Rotty.  I owe you one."

Now you can enter the Cackle Mound Labyrinth.

----------------------
Cackle Mound Labyrinth
----------------------

Run all the way right to the next room without stopping and none of the enemies
should rise fast enough to hit you.

Switch to the monkey and climb the wall on your right for a warp squid, then
continue right and enter the door to the next area.

Ignore the enemies and go right to the next room.

Slide down the ramps and go right to the next room.

Jump the enemy and continue right to the next room.

Break the jar on the table and knock the eyeball into the eye socket on the
statue, then get the key and go back left to the ramp room.

Jump the hidden vine enemy in the ground and unlock the door, then proceed left
to the next room.

Fall all the way down the large shaft, then go right to the next room.

Jump on the block when the eye is looking right then ride it all the way right,
use the second eye block halfway if you have to.  Get a 1up from the vase and
ride the eye block above you left, then jump to the next eye block when you see
it and ride it up.  Rest on the platform on your right before riding the next
eye block right, then rest on the small platform near the next eye block.  Jump
right over the block for a warp squid, then ride the eye block up and rest on
the platform on your right when you reach it.  Ride the next eye block left and
be sure to duck under the spikes, then rest on one of the platforms before
heading left to the next room.

Use the monkey to jump the wall, then knock another eyeball around for your
next key.  Return over the wall and fall down the hole, then go left to the
next room.

Ride the eye block up and go left to the next room.

Work your way past the enemies and go left to the next room.

Unlock the door and attack the enemy beyond before going left to the next room.

Ride the eye block left and rest on the green platform before riding the new
eye block up.  Rest on either platform, then ride the eye block left and raid
the vases for hearts and a 1up before going left to the next room.

This room is another eyeball/eye socket puzzle except for a catch, you need to
get the eye in the socket four times.  Each time it will look in a different
direction before finally looking left and giving you the key.  Grab the key
when it appears and return to the previous room.

Ride the eye block right and the next one down, then drop down the shaft on
your left and go right to the next room.

Unlock the door and go carefully right as you watch out for vines in the floor,
then ride the eye block up through a secret passage for a warp squid.  Ride the
eye block up again and go left this time.  Kill the enemy and get a 1up from
the vase, then use the monkey to jump up the left wall and go left to the next
room.

This is another eyeball/eye socket puzzle but it's a little harder to get the
eye in the socket, unless you know this trick.  Once you break the jar, face
the eye from the right and hit it into the left wall with your hair.  It should
bounce right into the socket, then you can grab the key and return to the
previous room.

Fall down to the floor with the vines, then head right and unlock the door
before going right to the next room.

Work your way up the shaft and crawl right, then beat the enemy to open up the
shaft below.  Fall down the shaft and the four heads in the background will
start firing at you one after another.  Watch for the head that lights up and
attack it before it hits you, repeat until dead and the shaft below you will
open.  Fall all the way down this shaft and jump over the enemy on your left
as you go left to the next room.

Drop down the shaft and talk to the Guardian Genie to learn the spider dance.
Now become the spider and crawl up the webs to get back to the door, then
return to the previous room.

Use the spider to crawl up the shaft and enter the first room on the right.

You whould notice a faint arrow pattern pointing up in the background, use the
monkey to jump up a hidden passage in the ceiling here and get a warp squid.
Work your way through this area and back to the second room of the dungeon with
the two shafts and the small gap between them where you got the warp squid.

Go right from the top of this room to get back to the ramp room, then use the
spider to travel along the webs above you and enter the room on your right.

Work both eyes into both sockets for another key, just make sure the eyes are
both facing up or you wont get the key yet.  Now you can return to the same
warp squid room I mentioned recently above and take the top left door to a new
room.

Work your way left to the wall, then use the spider to climb up the shaft and
unlock the door beyond.  Use the hearts int he vases to restore your health
before proceeding right to enter the boss room.

"Shantae: That's funny...  This is the Simmer Stone chamber, but no sign of
Risky Boots.  If I'm quick enough...

Risky: HAH!  Nice try girly girl, but this Simmer Stone comes with me!  It's
magical fire will keep my water boiling forever!  What...?  Not again!
AIEEEEEE!"

This boss isn't hard but he can take a while to beat, he waslks really slowly
towards you so just attack him with your strongest attack.  Every so often he
will retreat when you do this but just keep attacking him until he rolls into a
ball.  Now he will either roll three times around the room quickly, in which
case just jump over him.  He could also go slowly around the room and try to
land on top of you, so just run past him and he should miss.  Other than that
just keep hitting him with your strongest attacks and he should die rather
easily.

Now just pick up the Simmer Stone and get warped back outside where you'll talk
with Rottytops.

"Shantae: I did it!  I got the Simmer Stone!

Rotty: Well I knew with my help you'd make out OK.  So what's the reason for
collecting these stones anyway?  Kind of a dangerous hobby isn't it?

Shantae: I don't have any choice.  Risky Boots is going to use them for some
doomsday weapon!  I've already kept her from getting the Dribble Stone, the
Golem Stone, and the Simmer Stone.  If I can head her off one last time,
Scuttle Town and the others should be safe.

Rotty: That girl's bad news alright.  She's one of the reasons we move our
caravan each night.  In fact we're moving out in the morning so if you want to
visit me again, you'll have to track our caravan down first!  In the meantime
you should head for Mount Pointy.

Shantae: Why?  What's there?

Rotty: The Twinkle Stone.  You've got the other three, and that's the only one
left.  Err... you don't have any warmer clothes, do you?

Shantae: Why would anyone want to wear warm clothes?

Rotty: Heh!  No reason.  See you 'round!"

Now that you have the spider dance there are a number of things that you can
get before moving on to the next town.  The first would be to head back left to
the Snail Wasteland.

Go left past the passage that you opened up with the
elephant earlier and climb up the wall in the background once you reach it with
the spider.  Head right from here (at night) for a firefly, then continue left
and use the spider to climb another wall.  Use the monkey from here and bash
the rock on top with the elephant, then use the ladder to reach a hidden part
of the waterfall area.

Use the monkey to jump up the passage above you (at night) for a firefly, then
use the monkey to jump up the wall on your left.  head down the ladder and when
you have the choice of going left or right go right first for the Elephant Tote
talisman.  This allows you to stomp with the elephant by pressing down while
jumping/falling.  Return to the Snail Wasteland and work your way left to Water
Town.

Use the Bath House and buy a float muffin, then use the Save Room then head
left to the Waterfall Area.

Use the spider to climb up the wall and use the elephant to smash the rock,
this is the passage where you got the Elephant Tote so just ignore it for now.
Work your way all the way left in this area and use the spider to reach a
firefly (at night) above the ladder here.  Now you can work your way left to
the Dribble Fountain and enter the labyrinth for a warp squid.

In the third room you'll want to use the spider to climb up to a warp squid,
then you can exit the labyrinth and go left to the Spider Forest.

Use the save point and continue left, about halfway through the forest there
will be a large hill with sides that you slide down.  Use the spider to climb
up the  wall in the background and reach a heart holder on the top, then
continue left to Scuttle Town.

Use the Bath House and Save Room, then head left to the Naga Wasteland.

Work your way left past the ladder that leads to the ladies desert, then use
the spider to climb up the wall between the spikes.  Now use the monkey to get
on the platform above you (at night) and grab the firefly.  Now return to the
ground and go to Oasis town via the ladies desert.

Use the Bath House and raise some gems in the Gecko Chamber, then buy some twin
mints and drop off some warp squids to learn the dance to warp here.  Use the
save room before leaving town, then head left to the Mud Bog.

-------
Mud Bog
-------

Work your way left over the small wall and smash the block on your right with
the elephant, then use the ladder.  Work your way down to the pit and use a
float muffin to reach the heart holder on the other side.  Wait until it wears
off, then use another float muffin to get back across.  Now just continue left
through the Mud Bog and break the block with the elephant when you come to it.
Proceed left and use the monkey to get over the wall, then head left some more
and use the monkey again to get up and over another wall.  Finally head left
over some platforms to reach the Eagle Wasteland.

---------------
Eagle Wasteland
---------------

Jump over the enemy and use the spider/monkey to get past the spikes, then jump
over two more enemies and wait in the area with the wall in the background.
Use the spider to climb right and up that wall, then use the monkey to go right
(at night) for a firefly.  Now stay low and head left to some spikes that
you'll need the spider to get past, then continue left to reach Bandit Town.

-----------
Bandit Town
-----------

The hub for Bandit town is depicted below:

Town Gates {-} The Rusty Gullet {-} Advanced Genies! {-} Save Room {-}
Warp Squid Hut {-} Town Shop {-} Bath House {-} Town Gates

Here is what the new areas mean:

The Rusty Gullet - You'll go here to talk to a Genie and advance the plot.
Advanced Genies! - If you play Shantae on the Gameboy Advance then the guy in
here will teach you the Tinkerbat dance for 500 gems.  The
dance is Down, Up, Up, but it won't work unless you get
taught it.  It's a VERY good dance because it can bash
like the elephant and climb like the monkey.

Use the Bath House and if you're playing Shantae on a GBA then get the
tinkerbat dance from the Advanced Genies! hut for 500 gems.  Now head for The
Rusty Gullet to talk to the town Genie.

"Shantae: Oh!  A Genie!  Are you Bandit Town's guardian?

Genie: Absolutely!  I do my job using powerful mind-reading magic!  For
instance you've come here looking for the Twinkle Stone, right?

Shantae: Oh wow, you're right!!

Genie: Well you're in luck sweetie!  I can get you into the Twinkle Palace with
no problem at all!  Just meet me there in a little bit will you?

Shantae: What luck!  I'll be there, thanks!

Genie: Also, you should try cutting your hair short sometime!  It would look
awfully cute in a bob!  Ho Ho Ho!

Shantae: Hee hee!...  I'll think about it!  Bye now!"

Now use the save room and exit town, then return right to the Eagle Wasteland.

Work your way right past the column of spikes, then use the spider to up to the
area near the firefly that you got earlier.  Now use the monkey to head for the
top left corner of the stage, then continue left to enter Mount Pointy.

------------
Mount Pointy
------------

Use the monkey to climb walls, jump gaps and avoid enemies until you reach some
wolves and a wall beyond them.  Use the monkey to work your way up the shaft
above and go up the left shaft beyond, then leap up some steps as you go left
and meet up with the Bandit Town Genie.

"Shantae: Hello... er...  What did you say your name was?

Genie: My name...?  Who cares!  Now sit still while I do my thing!

Shantae: Thanks!  That was a piece of cake!  I'd better get in and out of here
before I freeze to death!

Genie: We wouldn't want that!  Tee Hee!"

------------------------
Twinkle Palace Labyrinth
------------------------

Head right and get a heart from the vase in the top right corner if needed,
otherwise bash the giant block of ice with the elephant when you see the enemy
that you want to fight.  Then fight and beat the enemy to open the door to the
next room.

Use the monkey/tinkerbat to climb up the shaft and head right to the next room.

Fight another ice-block enemy to escape this room on the right.

Head right and notice the warp squid below you, you can't get it just yet so
for now just remember where it is.  Continue right and jump past the giant
cannonball machine when its safe and enter the room on the right.

Hit the four pieces of the puzzle until the picture makes sense, then grab the
key and return left to the first shaft room before going right to the next
room.

Unlock the door and head right to the edge, fall down with the monkey and go
left through the passage (jump past the vertical hole) in the wall for a warp
squid.  Climb back up the wall and do a running jump right for another warp
squid.  Fall down to the ground and head all the way right to the wall, then
climb carefully up it with the monkey.  Jump left to a platform before reaching
the spikes, then jump back right over the spikes and go right to the next room.

Run across the gaps and jump the spikes, then hide in the small alcove in the
ice blocks as the cannonball rolls past you.  You can use the monkey to jump
left for a 1up, otherwise continue right for another 1up before entering the
next room.

Beat an ice-block enemy and proceed right to the next room.

Solve another simple picture puzzle for another key, then return left to the
room where you got the warp squid.

This time go all the way left on the ground floor to the next room.

Go all the way left to the next room in here.

Avoid some cannonballs and spikes as you go left to the next room.

Unlock the door and slide down the ramp then jump up (in human form) to the
spinning object above you.  Press left to go towards the next launcher and
press left once more to hit a wall, then quickly hold left to land in the
alcove below instead of on the spikes.  If you want you can use the monkey to
get two 1ups on your right, otherwise go left to the next room.

Beat the ice-block enemy and go left to the next room.

Climb the shaft and go right to the next room.

Solve another picture puzzle for a key then return to the previous room.

Go all the way down the shaft and unlock the door on your left, then go left to
the next room.

Go to the left side of the room and fall in the little pit, then crawl right
and jump out when you can.  Now just beat the ice-block enemy like usual to
escape the room through the left door.

Jump the spikes and use the first launcher to go up, then launch yourself left,
up, right, down, right, up, right, up, and up to reach the door.

Get a large heart on the left side of the shaft if you need it, otherwise talk
to the Guardian Genie in the cage at the bottom to learn the harpy dance.

Use the harpy to escape the room, then return right past the ice-block room.

Use the harpy to fly all the way up the shaft, then go right to the next room.

Fly/jump over the gaps and crawl right for a warp squid below, then enter the
next room on your right.

Fly over the gap in this room and enter the next room.

Use the monkey to work your way past the cannonballs and spikes up the shaft to
the next room on your left.

Solve another picture puzzle for another key, then return to the shaft room.

Fly to the left door at the top of the room.

Unlock the door and fly up the twisting shaft for a warp squid, then return
down the shaft and right to the shaft room.

Head right at the top until you reach the room with all the launchers, fall
down the shaft and fly left for the two 1ups if you missed them earlier.
Otherwise head left to the horizontal room with the red fiery fish enemies.

Fly all the way up the shaft in the middle of the room and go right past the
next room.

Fly right and fly all the way up the shaft with the spikes, then go right to
the next room.

Beat the ice-block enemy and escape to the right.

Solve a picture puzzle for another key, then return to the room where you got
the two warp squids.  Use the harpy to fly near the top of the room and you'll
find a third warp squid, then drop to the ground and head left to the launcher
room.

Fly up the shaft with the harpy again and return left to the twisted shaft
room.

Now you can fly to the very top and unlock the door there, stock up on hearts
before going right and entering the boss room.

"Shantae: This looks like the place!  There's the Twinkle Stone, but no sign of
Risky Boots!  Did she give up after losing the first three stones to me?
Uh-oh.  No time for questions now!"

This boss is very easy, it can just be hard to figure out how to beat him.
You need to use the harpy to fly above him and land on his head, do this three
times and he will fall to the ground.  Now you need to follow him and become
human to attack him until he starts flying again.  Repeat this until the boss
dies, then you just need to attack the rider.  Finally grab the Twinkle Stone
and warp outside where you'll talk to X.

"Shantae: Hi again!  I found the Twinkle...
Shantae: Huh?

Risky: Hah!  That oughtta shut you up!  Thanks for being a perfect little
stooge!  Now that you've collected all four stones for me, my Tinkerbats can
complete their steam-powered project!  Stop by for the grand unveiling!  It's
sure to be a smash from coast to coast!! HO HO HO!!

Shantae: Rrrrrgh...  Mmmmrgh...
Shantae: Free!  But now what will I do?  Risky has all four stones!  There must
be some way to find her hideout and end this insanity once and for all.  Mimic
will know what to do.  I'd better head back to Scuttle Town!"

Before you do that though use the harpy (at night) to get the firefly on your
left, then get the heart holder on a cliff on your left and use the save point
below you and return to Bandit Town.

Use the Bath House and drop off your warp squids to learn the warp dance for
this town.  Use the Save Room and leave town, then go right to the Mud Bog.

Use the harpy to fly right until you reach the giant pillars, fly on top of the
second one you come to for the Spider Venom talisman (which allows you to
attack with the spider).  Continue all the way to the right side of this area,
then go back left a little (at night) for a firefly above the first wall before
going right to Oasis town.

Use the Bath House and raise some more money, hopefully it won't take you very
long to get 900 gems.  Now you can use the Save Room and go right to the Naga
Wasteland.

Head left to the Mens Desert from here.

Use the harpy to fly up and left a little for a heart holder, then head left to
the Golem Mine and enter it.

Go to the very bottom of the main elevator room and head left to the next room.

Use the harpy to cross the lava here and get a warp squid above you, then exit
the labyrinth and use the save point on your left.

Use your Scuttle Town warp dance, then use the Bath House and Save Room before
heading right to the Scarecrow Field.

Fly right until you reach the first set of gaps, then fly up high to find the
Harpy Talon talisman (which allows you to attack with the harpy).  You can then
continue use your Water Town warp dance.

Use the Bath House and buy the tiara, then use the Save Room and go all the way
right to the Swamp area.

Head right to the Cackle Mound and enter it.

Work your way to the slide room and use the harpy to fly up and right of the
last slide for a warp squid, then exit the labyrinth and head right to the
Ghost Forest.

Fly up around a wall at the beginning (at night) for a firefly, then fly right
to Archer Forest.

-------------
Archer Forest
-------------

Fly low as you go right and eventually you will come to a tree stump, use the
elephant to bash it and enter the cave below.  Use a mint and perform any dance
that you know in front of the clown here to get rid of him, then get the heart
holder beyond and leave the cave.  Continue right until you reach the end of
the area, then go beck left a little (at night) and get the firefly on the
nearby platform.  Now you should have all 12 fireflies so warp back to Water
Town.

Enter the Firefly Shrine and examine the paper to learn the spell.  The spell
allows you to restore a heart for 10 gems.  Use the Bath House and Save Room,
then warp to Scuttle Town and talk with Mimic.

"Mimic: Risky has all four stones?!  This is a disaster!  Our only chance now
is to locate Risky's hideout and stop her before it's too late!  Maybe if you
fly to the highest point you can get a better view of the land!  It's the only
hope we have left, so get to it!"

Not the best hint really, but you'll want to leave town and warp to Oasis
Town.  From here you want to go left to the Lasias Desert and fly right to
find the Spy Scope, you should then use it.

"Shantae: So this must be the legendary Spy Scope I keep hearing about!

Voice: WHO GOES THERE?

Shantae: Eeeeek!  What was that!?

Voice: KNOW THAT IF YOU WISH TO LOOK THROUGH ME, I MUST FIRST LOOK THROUGH YOU!

Shantae: I certainly hope you mean through the heart or soul or something...

Voice: OF COURSE THAT'S WHAT I MEAN!  HERE NOW...  I SEE THAT YOU WISH ONLY TO
SAVE A PEACEFUL PEOPLE FROM A HORRIBLE FATE AT THE HANDS OF EVIL.  LOOK NOW
THROUGH THE EYEPIECE, AND CHOOSE YOUR DESTINATION.

Shantae: I guess I've got nothing to lose!  Let's see...

Shantae: That's it!  Risky must be hiding out on that island!

Voice: BY MY POWER I WILL SEND YOU THERE!

Shantae: Erm...  OK.  But if you send me there by magic, how do I get back?

Voice: SIMPLY STAND IN MY LIGHT, AND YOU WILL BE RETURNED."

You will then get transported to the island.

"Shantae: what is this place!?  It looks like an enormous Tinkerbat Factory!
If an entire island of Tinkerbats has been exploring Steam Technology, I'd
better be ready for anything!"

Run right to past the steam to the box and kill the tinkerbat, then go right to
more boxes and kill another tinkerbat.  Continue right and jump some spikes,
then grab a heart if you need it before falling down the shaft.

Run right to some boxes and take care of a tinkerbat before killing another
behind him, then continue right and chase two tinkerbats up the crow's nest.
Use the elephant to bash through it and head right, then get rid of the
tinkerbat tower and enter the pipes as the monkey.

Work your way through the pipes and stay low to reach the other side, otherwise
you can take the high route for a heart.  Go right and use your strongest
attacks to take care of a pair of mechanical tinkerbats.

Enter the pipe above in human form and fire yourself up the shaft, destroy
tinkerbats as you go until you can reach the top easily.

Head right and bash down another crow's nest, then jump some spikes and destroy
a tinkerbat tower.  Proceed right and beat a mechanical tinkerbat, then use the
harpy to fly through the spike area.  Fight another mechanical tinkerbat beyond
and enter another cannon right of it.  Work your way up the shaft like you did
with the other one.

Jump some spikes on your right and avoid the tinkerbats as you enter the pipes
with the monkey.

Keep to the left for a heart, then climb up the right pipe and go a litte right
before falling through the exit of the pipes.

Head right and bash down the door, then enter it and get ready for the final
battle.

"Risky: So, you just couldn't mind your own business, could you?  Had to see
what my army of Tinkerbats was building!  Well, here's your answer!  Thanks to
all four magical stones, I'm about to put the finishing touches on my
Steam-Powered behemoth!  With me at the helm, no town on land or sea will ever
oppose my rule again!  Ho Ho Ho!  Prepare yourself for the awesome might of my
All-Purpose Steam-Powered TINKERTANK!!"

You'll then fall through a trapdoor and land on a floating platform beside the
TinkerTank.  Use the harpy to fly up (avoid the steam) to the head of the tank
and fall down inside it, then use the monkey to jump up to the narrow passages
on both sides of you.  Attack the gears in both arms to uncover two stones,
then go back and destroy the stones to open up the arms some more.  Return to
the arms and fall down further to reach more gears, destroy them to expose the
last two stones.  Destroy those stones to open up the heart of the machine and
destroy that to end this battle.

"Risky: NOOOOOO!!!  HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!?  My TinkerTank!  It's nothing but
rubble!  I'll slice you to bits and dance on your runny innards!

Now you get to (finally) fight Risky, she's fast and strong so you need to be
careful.  Risky has many attacks and it can be a difficult fight, BUT if you
have the spider venom then you're on easy street.  Simply keep firing your
venom at risky until you win the battle, you will know when it is close to over
when you knock her hat off.  When risky pulls out her sword though she is about
to charge at you while swinging it wildly so jump over her.  As she takes
damage during the battle she also gains a pair of other attacks.  One of which
is bouncing around the room on a diagonal with the sword out, just move along
the ground to avoid this.  The other involves her firing shots from her guns at
you, but if you're using the spider they should go harmlessly over you.
Otherwise just use the method desrcibed above for an easy time and should you
need it, you can use the firefly dance to restore your hearts.

"Shantae: Give it up Risky!  You're finished!

Risky: NEVER!!  You'LL NEVER LEAVE THIS PLACE ALIVE!!
Risky: HO HO HO HO!!"

You then get to play a neat little escape game where you avoid fireballs while
flying upward, it's actually pretty easy and doesn't last long and the ending
plays afterwards.

"Voice: Welcome Shantae.

Shantae: Where am I?  What is this place?  I can't see a thing!

Voice: Do not be afraid.  You are with friends.  You have entered the Genie
realm.

Shantae: The Genie Realm?  How did I get here?

Voice: We brought you here to present you with a gift.  A reward for your valor
in the face of evil.

Shantae: A reward?

Voice: You have withstood many trials, and exceeded your potential as a half
genie.  Now, by combining our magic we will make you a full Genie.

Shantae: Gasp!  Do you really mean it?

Voice: Yes.  You can stay in the Genie realm and finally be with your own kind.
You will be a half-genie no longer.

Shantae: But what about my friends?  And Mimic?  Will I still get to see them?

Voice: Genies must never interfere with the mortal world.  I know you will miss
them, but you will be much happier here, where there is peace and harmony.  We
will leave the choice up to you.

Shantae: I want to be a true Genie more than anything.  But not at the cost of
my friends and family.  I can't just leave them alone in a world that needs me.
Half a Genie is better than none after all.

Voice: Then you will decline our gift?

Shantae: I'm afraid so.

Voice: Then we will send you back.  Farewell Shantae.

Mimic: Shantae!

Mimic: Shantae!  Wake up!

Shantae: Groan...

Mimic: Are you alright?  When I saw Risky's Island go up in smoke I was afraid
you'd had it!

Shantae: Mimic.  I'm sorry.  I destroyed the Steam Engine.  I had too...

Mimic: Don't worry about that.  I can see now that the world isn't ready for
Steam Engines.  I'm just glad you came back to me in one piece!

Shantae: Mimic, I've decided to tell the Mayor that I'm not a full-fledged
genie.  If he's going to keep me as the town's guardian, I want him to know the
truth.

Mimic: Alright.  If you feel that dtrongly about it.  I'll leave it up to you.

Mayor: I overheard what you were talking about with Mimic!  Don't worry!
You've saved Scuttle Town!  You're our hero!

Shantae: Really?

Mayor: Yes!  Absolutely!  I don't care if you're a half a Genie or not!  You'll
always be our champion!

Shantae: Whew!

Mayor: But can I get you for half-price?"

[And that's the end of the game, you did have 4 warp squids left over at the
end and that was for warping to the zombie caravan.  The only problem is that
you have to find it first and it's location is pretty random, but if you do
find it you can get cheap items.]

-----------
Warp Squids
-----------

[Dribble Fountain Labyrinth]

1. Halfway through the third room (platforms above water) it's on a platform
above you, use the spider to get it.
2. In the green room with light entering it near the beginning, the room where
you first meet the large blue enemies.  It's in plain view after you crawl
through a short gap, near impossible to miss.
3. In the room that is shaped like an inverted "7" with a shaft leading down
to a passage that goes left.  The passage has a few platforms over water to
jump, the warp squid is in a hidden room on the "corner" of the inverted
"7".  Just crawl right and you will find it.
4. In the room where you must push the single pattern stone around to the
others far below.  You will see it on your way to the stone but you won't
be able to get to it until you can use the monkey.
5. In the room where you run across many small gaps in human form, just
beyond you can change to the monkey and jump up a hidden passage above the
shaft with the snake platforms.  The passage will lead to a room with an
enemy but you can continue up to find the warp squid.

[Golem Mine Labyrinth]

1. In the room on the left side of the first floor (beyond spikes) of the
elevator room.  After you go left past the enemies above you, there is a
passage above you that leads back right to the warp squid.
2. In the same room mentioned above there is a set of spikes halfway down a
shaft on the right side.  Use the monkey to land beside them, then use the
elephant to break them.  Finally head right past an enemy for the warp
  squid.
3. In the room where you make the spikes fall in the lava in order to cross it.
On the left side of this lava the warp squid is above you, use the harpy to
  reach it.
4. Destroy the spikes in the first room of the labyrinth and enter the room
beyond.  The warp squid is hidden in a passage in the top left corner of
  this room.
5. In the elevator room, between the bottom floor and the one above it you
should see a pir of windows in the walls.  Walk through the right one for
  the warp squid.

[Cackle Mound Labyrinth]

1. At the top of the second room, in a narrow passage between shafts.  Use the
monkey to get up there and get it.
2. In the spike room with all the eye blocks, on a platform just to the right
of one of the eye blocks.
3. In the room with many vines on the floor and a single eye block, ride the
eye block ALL the way up for the warp squid.
4. After getting the spider dance and returning up the shaft in the previous
room you can use the monkey to follow an arrow to a warp squid in the next
  room.
5. In the slide room you'll want to slide to the bottom, then use the harpy to
fly up and right of the bottom slide for a warp squid.

[Twinkle Palace Labyrinth]

1. In the same room as warp squid #2 and #4, just use the harpy and fly up
to the top of the room and you'll get it.
2. In the room with the first locked door, fall down the wall as the monkey
and enter a hidden passage on your left for the warp squid.
3. Halfway up the twisting shaft with many gaps that have jumping enemies,
you should see it on the way up and you can easily get it with the harpy.
4. In the same room as warp squid #2, just do a running jump right from the
wall near the locked door to find it.
5. Go left from the shaft in the launcher room, in this room you'll want to
crawl right and fall into a passage that has the warp squid.

---------
Talismans
---------

Monkey Claw - Just below the left entrance of the Waterfall area is a ladder,
go down that ladder and work your way left to the forest on the
other side.  Go left through the forest and into a small cave.
Work your way through the cave and left through the forest beyond
to a wall.  Use the monkey to get all the way up the wall, then
use the elephant to bash the tree stump.  Go down the ladder and
equip your storm puffs, then use one on the metallic enemy with
the lightning rod on his head.  Crawl through the gap and get the
Monkey Claw on the other side.

Elephant Tote - Once you have the spider dance, use it in either the top right
of the Waterfall area or the Snail Wasteland to reach a block.
Smash the block with the elephant and enter the cave for the
               talisman.

Spider Venom - Once you have the harpy dance you can fly to the top of a pillar
in the Mud Bog to get this.

Harpy Talon - Once you have the harpy dance you can fly to the first set of
gaps in the Scarecrow Field, then fly up high to find the
             talisman.

###############################################################################

Huge thanks go out to Setzer The Gambler for his help with heart holder #7.

                               (G) EXPERIMENTAL
###############################################################################

For a little while now I've had a paypal link in all my FAQs at the very bottom
here.  Mainly as a small experiment since a few other FAQ authors have also had
the same idea.

I had a few people email me before I put this link in because they wanted to
send money, so it's here for those people.

I've been getting cases of energy drinks and making some excellent progress on
a few FAQs & maps.

If you don't want to send money or can't then send me an email, it's nice to
hear what people thought about my work and there's always room for improvement.

My email address and paypal address for those that want to contribute are both
dan.engel.2017 (AT) gmail (DOT) com

Many thanks, and I hope you continue to use my work!
