1) Walkthrough
======================================================================
**************************
***Set Up/New Bark Town***
**************************
The game starts by asking you if you're a boy or girl. Pick one and then
set the hour and minutes and start the game. Walk down the stairs and talk
to your mother. She'll give you your Pokegear and ask you what day of the
week it is. Set the day and she'll ask you if you know how to use the phone.
Tell her yes or no and then head off to Professor Elm's laboratory next
door.
*************************
***Professor Elm's Lab***
*************************
Talk to Professor Elm and he'll ask you to raise one of the Pokemon he has
just caught so he can further his research. As Elm is talking, he gets an
e-mail from his friend, Mr. Pokemon. Mr. Pokemon has made a major discovery
and wants Elm to come see it. Elm decides to send you instead. Now is the
time to select your Pokemon.
* Cyndiquil, the Fire Pokemon
* Totodile, the Water Pokemon
* Chikorita, the Grass Pokemon
Choose wisely and continue on. Elm will inform you that Mr. Pokemon lives
past Cherrygrove City and to take the west path to get there. Elm now gives
you his phone number. As you attempt to leave the laboratory, Elm's
assistant stops you and presents you with a Potion for your errand. Exit
Elm's lab and head to Route 29.
**************
***Route 29***
**************
You should use Route 29 as a battle area to raise your starting Pokemon
a few levels. After you get a few Pokeballs, catch some of them and get
a team ready for Gym battles. Now keep heading east to reach Cherrygrove
City.
Items: Potion
**********************
***Cherrygrove City***
**********************
Talk to the man at the entrance to the city and he'll show you around the
place. After he's done, he'll give you the Map Card for your Pokegear. You
can now use the map option. Like every town, Cherrygrove has a Pokemart
and a Pokecenter. Buy any items that you might need and heal your Pokemon
at the center if necessary before heading north to Mr. Pokemon's house.
*Cherrygrove Pokemart
Potion 300
Antidote 100
Parlyz Heal 200
Awakening 250
**************
***Route 30***
**************
Enter the first house you see and talk to the man to receive a Berry. Exit
and continue north while staying to the right. You will soon reach Mr.
Pokemon's house.
Items: Antidote
*************************
***Mr. Pokemon's House***
*************************
Mr. Pokemon will give you an egg to take back to Elm to examine. Professor
Oak then approaches you and gives you a Pokedex. As you leave, Elm calls
you and tells you to return to his lab immediately. Head back for Elm's
laboratory in New Bark Town.
**********************
***Cherrygrove City***
**********************
As you try to enter Route 29, the mysterious boy who you saw as you left
Elm's lab attacks you. His Pokemon will be strong against whichever one
you picked at the beginning.
Your Pokemon/Rival's Pokemon
Cyndaquil/Totodile Lv. 5
Totodile/Chikorita Lv. 5
Chikorita/Cyndiquil Lv. 5
If you've raised your Pokemon a few levels, he shouldn't be much of a
problem.....for now. Dispose of this fool and get back to Elm's lab.
********************************
***Professor Elm's Laboratory***
********************************
Enter and you'll find Elm talking with a police officer. It seems a red
headed hoodlum has stolen one of Elm's Pokemon. The officer will ask you
his name and you will now get to name your rival. After he leaves, talk
to Elm and he will examine the egg. He will be amazed to find that Oak has
given you a Pokedex and suggests that you take the Gym Challenge. The closest
Gym is in Violet City. Elm asks that you talk to your mother before you
leave. When you try to leave the lab, the assistant will stop you again
and give you five Pokeballs.
****************
***Your House***
****************
Talk to your mother and she'll ask to help on your quest. She wants to save
money for you. Agree and throughout the game, she will buy decorations for
your room for you. Now it's time to head for Violet City.
**************
***Route 29***
**************
Enter Route 29 and you'll be stopped by the boy in the grass. He'll ask
you if you'd like to be shown how to catch Pokemon. Say yes or no, then
continue on. Head back on through Cherrygrove and to Route 30.
**************
***Route 30***
**************
Take the left path this time and you'll come upon a couple trainers. Their
Pokemon consist of mainly Pidgey, Rattata, and Caterpie. Defeat them and
continue north to Route 31.
**************
***Route 31***
**************
Head east and then north through the grassy areas and you'll come upon Dark
Cave. You can't really find everything until you get Flash. You might want
to step in though and at least catch a Rock Pokemon to help you out with
Faulkner. Get the Potion to the left of the cave and continue west. Head
south when you see the Item Ball and battle the trainer, Wade. Wade has
only bug Pokemon. Defeat him and then you can register Wades phone number
now if you like. He'll inform you if he finds anything you might
like.....like Berries. Continue through the rest of the road and you'll
find a building. On the other side is Violet City.
*****************
***Violet City***
*****************
When you enter, you can enter the first house and trade Bellsprout for an
Onix. Now head north and you'll find a Pokecenter and Earl's Pokemon
Academy. Earl is standing to the left of the Gym. Talk to him and he'll
take you to the Academy. All the way to the top of the city is the Sprout
Tower. Don't go there yet, instead go west to the Gym. Before you go, you
can buy items from the Pokemart if you like.
*Violet City Pokemart

***Violet City Gym***
*********************
Enter and fight the trainers on the way to Faulkner. The trainers have only
bird Pokemon. Defeat them and then take on Faulkner. Like the other
trainers, Faulkner has only bird Pokemon. Take him down and you will receive
the Zephyr Badge and TM 31. You can use the Zephyr Badge to use Flash out
of battle. Leave the Gym and you'll get a phone call from Professor Elm.
He has found something out about the egg. His assistant is in the Violet
City Pokecenter. Head over there and talk to him. He'll ask you if you'll
raise the egg. Agree and take it.
Now it's time to go to the Sprout Tower.
******************
***Sprout Tower***
******************
1st Floor
Not much, just people walking around, take the stairs up.
2nd Floor
To the right of where you enter is the first trainer. He only has a
Bellsprout, nothing to worry about. Win and the go up the stairs.
3rd Floor
Get the Parlyz Heal from the ball and go up and around. You'll be attacked
by another trainer. He has Bellsprouts too. Past him is the next set of
stairs.
4th Floor
Go north first to get a X Accuracy. Turn around and follow the path and
you'll find another trainer. Just like the others, he only has Bellsprouts.
Take the stairs.
5th Floor
Get the Potion to the left and then battle the trainers to the north. As
before, they mainly have Bellsprouts, but one of them also has a Hoothoot.
Now head north and you'll find your Rival defeating the Elder. He takes
his prize and leaves. Get the Escape Rope from the ball and battle the Elder.
The Elder, Sage Li has one Bellsprout and one Hoothoot. Take him down and
you get HM05, Flash, for winning the battle.
If you'd like, you can go back to Route 31 and enter the Dark Cave. You
won't get too far yet. Get the Potion and maybe catch a few more Pokemon,
then leave. Now head back to Violet City and south to Route 32.
**************
***Route 32***
**************
You can go two ways here, you can go either south to Azalea Town, or west
to the Ruins of Alph. We'll start by going to the ruins.
*******************
***Ruins of Alph***
*******************
There are different puzzles in the area that unlock more areas. Go all the
way north and we'll start with the first one. It's a Kabuto puzzle. The
pieces randomly change, so there is no way of giving a solution. After you
solve it, the floor below you will give away and you will fall into the
ruins and you can now catch Unowns. Catch some if you want and then head
back to Route 32. Head south and you'll battle some trainers. They have
Rattata, Zubat and Nidoran. After you beat the trainers, get the Repel from
the ball in the grass and continue south. Defeat the next trainer and then
continue south and get the Great Ball from the grass. Battle another
trainer. This one will have Wooper.
Further south, some bozo will try to sell you a Slowpoketail for a cool
million. Blow him off and continue. You see that little path to the right
of him? Go into the Pokemon Center and heal your Pokemon if need be. Now
talk to the man inside to get the Old Rod. Further below you'll find another
trainer. This one has a few birds. Deal with him and then head down into
the Union Cave.
****************
***Union Cave***
****************
Head to the left and get the X Attack from the ball. The first two trainers
you come to have all Rock Pokemon. Continue on until you come to another
trainer. Defeat his Koffings and then get the Great Ball and Potion. Take
the ladder and then get the X Defend to your right. Now go up and get TM
39 from the ball. Take the ladder again and head to the right. Go down and
get Awakening. Now go right and defeat the trainer and his Vulpix. Past
him is the cave exit. It leads to Route 33.
**************
***Route 33***
**************
The tree at the exit has Psncureberry. The trainer to the left has a Machop
and a Geodude. Past him is Azalea Town.
*****************
***Azalea Town***
*****************
At the start of the town is the Slowpoke Well. Some Team Rocket goon is
standing guard trying to seem like he is being a good guy. Talk to the man
past him and you'll find out that Slowpokes are starting to disappear from
the town. Get supplies from the store if you need them.

Pokeball 200

Super Potion 700

Continue to the left and you'll find a Pokecenter. Heal your Pokemon and
then you'll find Kurt's house to the left of that. Behind his house is a
tree with a Wht Apricorn. Kurt can use them to make specialized Pokeballs
for you. Go in and try talking to him. He's in no mood to make Pokeballs
right now because Team Rocket is in the Slowpoke Well chopping the
Slowpoke's Tails off. He's going to stop them. You better follow.
*******************
***Slowpoke Well***
*******************
Enter and you'll find Kurt at the bottom. It seems when he scared the guy
guarding the place off, he fell down and hurt his back. It's up to you to
save the day. Head north and battle the two Team Rocket goons. Team Rocket's
Pokemon mainly consist of Rattata, Zubat, Koffing and Ekans. Grab the Super
Potion from the ball and continue to the west. Defeat another TR member
and then talk to the Slowpoke. He's holding some Mail. Defeat the next one
and they will run away. Kurt will now run up and congratulate you. He will
now make Pokeballs for you.
*****************
***Azalea Town***
*****************
You'll go back to Kurt's house and he'll give you a Lure Ball. Give him
apricorns and he'll make balls out of them. It'll take a day so come back
the next day after you give him one. Now that you've scared Team Rocket
away, you can get into the Azalea Gym.
****************
***Azalea Gym***
****************
You'll have to take out four trainers before you can get to the Gym Leader.
No matter if you go left of right, you'll have to deal with three trainers.
All of them use only bug Pokemon. Take them out and head for Bugsy. Bugsy
has a Metapod, Kakuna, and Scyther. Only the Scyther should give you much
trouble. After you win, you'll receive the Hive Badge. With the Hive Badge,
Pokemon up to Lv 30 will obey you and Pokemon will be able to use Cut out
of battle. You will also receive TM49.
Leave and head for the west exit of the town. You'll be stopped by your
rival who wants to battle. His team now consists of Gastly, Zubat and either
Quilava, Croconaw, or Bayleef. If you have a couple Pokemon around level
20, he'll be no problem. After he's finished, exit to Ilex Forest.
*****************
***Ilex Forest***
*****************
Follow the path around until you see a man standing around. Talk to him
and he'll tell you that his Farfetch'd has run off. The Pokemon is just
a few steps away from you. Chase him around until he runs back to his owner.
The owner will reward you with HM01 which contains Cut. Go back and get
the Revive from the ball. Now teach Cut to a Pokemon and use it on the tree
near the Farfetch'ds owner. Follow the path somemore and get the X Attack.
Walk around and get the Antidote and Ether. Walk all the way around to the
right and talk to the guy standing by the trees to get TM02. Now go all
the way left and defeat the trainer. The exit is just a little past him.
Enter the building and talk to the lady to get TM12. Exit to the north and
you'll be in Route 34.
**************
***Route 34***
**************
The trainers in this area have an assortment of Pokemon. Normal, Flying,
and Grass are the main ones. Defeat Picnicker Gina and register her number.
She'll find items laying around and call you when she does. Head further
north and you'll see a building on your right. It's the Daycare Center.
Enter and talk to the old man and he'll give you an egg. Exit and head further
north. Defeat Camper Todd and you can then register his number. He'll call
you when they have sales at Goldenrod Department Store. A little further
north is Goldenrod City.
********************
***Goldenrod City***
********************
Go up until you can either go left or right. Heal your Pokemon at the
Pokecenter to the left. Now go to the Goldenrod Department Store on the

a bet on an area of the board where you think the card would end up being.
Have fun for a little and head back to the Gym.
*******************
***Goldenrod Gym***
*******************
There are four trainers here and they all use Normal Pokemon. Try to have
a good fighting Pokemon or have your party around Lv 25. The Gym Leader,
Whitney, has only two Pokemon, a Clefairy and a Miltank. If your Pokemon
are in the 20's they shouldn't have much trouble. After you defeat her,
she'll go into crying mode. Try to leave and a trainer will stop you and
tell you she'll stop soon. Talk to her again and she'll give you the Plain
Badge. With it, Pokemon can use Strength out of battle and it boosts their
speed. You also receive TM45.
Leave and head for the building to the north. A lady inside will tell you
about a tree to the north that wiggles when sprayed with a Squirtbottle.
Talk to the man behind the desk and he'll ask you to take a Pokemon with
Mail to Rt 31. The man on Rt 31 will give you TM 50 when you bring the Pokemon.
TM50 is Nightmare. Exit to the back and you'll be in Route 35.
**************
***Route 35***
**************
There are six trainers in the area. They all have a wide assortment of
different types of Pokemon. Take them all out and enter the building at
the top. It will take you to the National Park
*******************
***National Park***
*******************
If you arrive on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, there will be a Bug Hunt
going on. Enter and you get 20 Park Balls to catch Pokemon with. Try to
catch a powerful Pinsir, Scyther, Butterfree, or Beedrill to win the top
prize.
1st Prize: Sun Stone
2nd Prize: Ever Stone
3rd Prize: Gold Berry
All Others: Berry
After they hand out the prizes, exit to the right.
**************
***Route 36***
**************
If you go straight up at the start, you'll find an Ice Berry tree. Go down
and you'll find a couple trainers. You can register Schoolboy Alan's number
and he'll tell you when he finds items and he'll give them to you. If you
go further down, you'll end up back at Route 35. Past Alan you'll find a
girl standing next to a tree. She thinks it's a Pokemon and runs back to
her sister's to get a Squirtbottle. Her sister is the girl at the flower
shop in Goldenrod. If you have a Pokemon that knows Cut from another version
of the game, take Route 35 by cutting the tree. Defeat Bugcatcher Arnie
and register his number. He'll call if he sees any cool Pokemon. Now go
all the way down, a little to the left, and follow the fence up to get TM04,
Rollout. Now go all the way back to Goldenrod and get the Squirtbottle from
the flower shop. Talk to her sister first and she'll tell you that her sis
wouldn't give the Squirtbottle to her until she beats Whitney. Since you've
already done that, talk to her and she'll give it to you. Go back and use
it on the tree and it will attack. It's a Sudowoodo. Use a grass type to
take it out and then go to the right. Talk to the man and he'll give you
TM08, Rock Smash. If you go further past him you'll find the North entrance
of the Ruins of Alph and an entrance to Violet City. Go back and north instead
to Route 37.
**************
***Route 37***

and drop down the ledge to find three trees. They have Red, Black, and Blue
Apricorns. Now go back around and past the trainers again to Ecruteak City.

find a Pokecenter. Enter and you'll see a man run to the front. It's Bill
the guy that holds your Pokemon for you. He's finished his Time Capsule
and now you can trade Pokemon with Red/Blue/Yellow Pokemon games.
Above the Pokecenter is the Kimono Dance Theater. If you defeat all five
of the Kimono Girls, the old man inside will give you a prize. Each of the
girls has one of the Eevee evolutions, so you should use a variety of
Pokemon. When you win, the old man gives you HM03, Surf.

Suicine. Morty is in the tower with him looking for the Legendary Pokemon,
so it's up to you to find them so you can get your badge. Go the left route
to the center of the room and you'll find that punk rival of yours. He has
a Haunter, Magnemite, Zubat, and the second evolution of the Pokemon he
started with. After the battle, you'll fall through a hole in the floor.
The forms of the three Legendary Beasts will come to life and run away.
Talk to Eusine and he will thank you for helping him find Suicine. He leaves
to track him. Go back upstairs by taking the same ladder as Eusine. Leave
and head for Ecruteak Gym.
*******************
***Ectruteak Gym***
*******************
All of the trainers here use Ghost Pokemon. It's impossible to avoid the
trainers in this Gym. An invisible floor lies between you and Morty and
the path will take you right in the trainers way. Here is the path:
Up one, Right three, Up four, Left three, Up two, Right three, Up two, Left
one, and then all the way up to meet Morty. His party consists of all members
of the Gastly family, so make sure you use Pokemon with more than Normal

TM30, Shadow Ball. Take the left exit of town to Route 38.

tending to a sick Pokemon. He decides not to bother with you and leaves.

Get TM34 from the ball. Go down the stairs, defeat a trainer, and go all
the way down and out of the lighthouse. Teach Surf to a water Pokemon and
use it to swim southwest to Route 40.

the man in the building to the left and you'll find out that your rival
has taken a Pokemon from him. He'll trust you with his Shuckle. Go to the
house at the bottom of the town and talk to the man there. He'll give you
the Secret Potion to cure the Ampharos back at Olivine. Go to the north
part of town and you'll find a Photographer. He can print pictures using
the Game Boy Printer. Go further north and you'll see Suicine. The Pokemon
will run away on the waves. Eusine will appear and challenge you to a battle
to earn Suicine's respect. After you win, go to the Gym in the lower left
of town. Fight your way to the boulders and use Strength to push the left
and right ones up, and the center one to the left or right. Battle one more
trainer and then fight Chuck. He only has two Pokemon, Primeape and
Poliwrath. After you win, you get the Storm Badge. With it, Pokemon up to
level 70 will obey you and you can use Fly out of battle. He also gives
you TM01, Dynamic-Punch. Now go outside and talk to the girl to get HM02,
Fly. Teach it to a Pokemon and fly back to Olivine.
******************
***Olivine City***
******************
Take the Special Potion to Jasmine at the lighthouse. After Ampharos is
cured, she'll head back to the Gym. Now you should head for there yourself.
*****************
***Olivine Gym***
*****************
Jasmine uses all Steel Pokemon. Try to have a good fire and a good water
Pokemon in your party. After you win, she will give you the Mineral Badge
which raises your Pokemon's defense. She will also award you with TM23,
Iron Tail.
Now it's time to head for Mahogany Town. Fly to Ecruteak and then take the
right exit of town.
**************
***Route 42***
**************
Get the Ultra Ball from the ball and continue on. There is an entrance to
Mt Mortar, but don't go in yet. Surf across the water and get the Super
Potion on the other side. Surf again and you'll fight a trainer. After
defeating Tully, if you register his number, he'll inform you when he finds
items. Defeat a few more trainers and then enter Mahogany Town.
*******************
***Mahogany Town***
*******************
It seems that Team Rocket is causing trouble. Step into the store and you'll
find items that wouldn't normally be selling.
Tinymushroom 500
Slowpoke Tail 9800
Poke Ball 200
Potion 300
Below the store is the Gym. You can't enter yet and the guy standing in
front of it suggests that you go see the Lake of Rage to the north. You
can heal your Pokemon at the Pokecenter to the right of the Gym. You can
buy Rage Candy Bars from the man standing outside the house to the right
of the store for 300. Now go through the building at the northend of town
and take Route 43 to the lake.
**************
***Route 43***
**************
Defeat a trainer and then enter the building. Once inside you'll be
assaulted by Team Rocket. They'll force you to pay 1000 to get through,
the punks. Outside, deal with a couple more trainers and then you'll arrive
at the Lake of Rage.
******************
***Lake of Rage***
******************
It seems that Magikarp are being forced to evolve into Gyarados. Surf out
to the center of the lake and battle the Red Gyarados. It is one of the
very rare shiny Pokemon. You'll rarely ever come upon them in the game.
Defeat/Capture it and you'll get the Red Scale. Surf back down and talk
to the man by the sign. His name is Lance and he is here to stop the evolutions
from happening. He tells you that a broadcast in Mahogany is the cause and
asks for your help. Head back to Mahogany.
*******************
***Mahogany Town***
*******************
Head for the store. Inside you'll find Lance roughing up Team Rocket. It
seems that the broadcast is coming from underneath the store. Lance goes
first and then you'll enter the underground.
1st Floor
When you stand in front of the statue, an alarm will go off and you'll be
attacked by two Team Rocket members. You must flip a secret switch to turn
them off. Go a little to the left and then follow down to the scientist
by the computer. Defeat him and then use his comp to turn off the security.
Get the Guard Spec from the ball and then go up and to the right. Get the
Hyper Potion from the ball and follow the path down to find a Nugget. Further
to the left are two traps. The tile will teleport you to the start if you
step on it and the dark tiles are Pokemon traps. Take the stairs to the
next floor.
2nd Floor
Talk to Lance and he'll heal your Pokemon. Head to the right and fight a
Team Rocket member. Defeat him and his buddy and head down the stairs.
3rd Floor
You'll find out from Lance that there are two passwords. Defeat the Team
Rocket member at the top of the computer room to get the first password,
Slowpoketail. Go and defeat the two trainers to the left. The second one
has the other password, Raticate Tail. Behind him is X Accuracy and Protein.
You can also get Ice Heal at the top of the computer room and Full Heal
to the right of it. Take the stairs at the upper right corner of the room.
2nd Floor
Defeat the Team Rocket member and head down to the password door. You'll
be stopped by that rival of yours. He'll whine, moan and complain about
getting beat by Lance and then he runs off. You can get an Ultra Ball from
the ball. Enter the passwords and enter Giovanni's office. He isn't here,
but battle the executive inside. After winning, he runs off to warn the
rest of Team Rocket. Talk to the Murkrow and he'll give you the password
to the machine, Hail Giovanni. Take the bottom stairs.
3rd Floor
Get TM46 from the ball. It contains Thief. Exit and follow all the way back
to the start of the 2nd floor. Enter the password and you'll be attacked
by two Team Rocket executives. Lance then appears to back you up. After
you win, Lance can't find how to turn the machine off. The two of you must
knock out the six Electrodes running the machine. You only need to knock
out three and Lance will do the rest. After knocking them all out, Lance
will give you HM06, Whirlpool.
Now it's time to hit the Gym.
******************
***Mahogany Gym***
******************
The Gym itself has an ice floor which makes it difficult to get to Pryce.
Here's the way to get there. Stand next to the left wall and go up twice,
right once, down once, left once, up once, and right once to stand in front
of him. He has all Ice Pokemon, so use Fire and Lightning to take him out.
Your victory rewards you with the Glacier Badge. It raises the Special Stats
of your Pokemon and lets you use Whirlpool out of battle. He also gives
you TM16, Icy Wind.
After leaving, Professor Elm calls you and informs you that Team Rocket
has taken over the radio broadcasts. Fly back to Goldenrod City and enter
the Radio Tower.
*****************
***Radio Tower***
*****************
1st Floor
Not much here, just defeat the Rocket member and head upstairs.
2nd Floor
Defeat the four Rockets and head upstairs.
3rd Floor
Defeat the three Rockets and talk to the girl. You'll find out that only
the Director has the password to open the door. Head upstairs.
4th Floor
Defeat the two goons and continue on.
5th Floor
The director is an imposter. He will tell you where the real director is
if you can beat him. After winning, he'll tell you that the director is
in the basement. He'll give you the Basement Key. Exit and go into the
underground by using the entrance to the north of the Tower.
*****************
***Underground***
*****************
Go into the narrow passage and use the key to open the basement door. Go
down the stairs. When you enter the basement, here comes that fool rival
of yours again to challenge you. He has Golbat, Magnemite, Haunter, Sneasel,
and the second form of his starting Pokemon. Defeat the three Rockets so
you'll have access to all of the switches. Turn the 3rd one on, then the
2nd, and then the 1st. Go down, defeat the trainer, and get the Smoke Ball.
Battle the next Rocket and then flip the Emergency Switch. Enter the
basement and get the Ultra Ball. Defeat the Rocket and then get the Max
Ether. Defeat two more Rockets and then you'll find the Director. He gives
you the Card Key to open the door in the Tower. Get the TM35 that's near
him and head out. Climb the stairs and get the Amulet Coin. Take the elevator
to the first floor and head back to the Tower.
*****************
***Radio Tower***
*****************
3rd Floor
Use the Card Key to open the door and fight the Rocket. Take the stairs.
2nd Floor
Defeat the two Rockets and head down to the 1st Floor.
1st Floor
Defeat the two Executives and their leader will disband Team Rocket. The
Director enters and gives you the Clear Bell. It seems that Team Rocket
was whispering about something at the Tin Tower. Maybe you should check
it out. Get the Ultra Ball from behind the desk and go upstairs. Get the
Pink Bow from Mary and climb the stairs. Talk to the girl with green hair,
and she'll give you TM11, Sunny Day. Go down and talk to Buena to get your
Blue Card. Listen to the Password program on the radio and tell her the
Password to get points. You can use them to trade for gifts.
Ultra Ball 2
Full Restore 2
Nugget 3
Rare Candy 3
Protein 5
Iron 5
Carbos 5
Calcium 5
HP Up 5
Go downstairs and talk to the lady at the desk to take the quiz to win a
Radio Card.
1) Pokemon that only appears in mornings: Yes
2) Can't buy Berry at a mart: Yes
3) Does HM01 contain Flash: No
4) Is Faulkner the Violet Gym Leader: Yes
5) Does Goldenrod's slots have Charmander on the reel: No
Now you get the Radio Card.
Fly back to Ecruteak City and enter the building at the top. Now that you
have the Clear Bell, the man will let you pass. Go up two sets of stairs
and you'll have to battle three trainers to prove your worth. Defeat them
and you man pass to the Tin Tower.
***************
***Tin Tower***
***************
When you enter, you'll see Raikou, Entei and Suicine. Raikou and Entei will
run away but Suicine will attack. Weaken him and then I suggest using Ultra
Balls and Level Balls to capture him. You can also just be lazy like me
and use a Master Ball to capture him and skip the battle. After you win,
the three sages and Eusine come in and congratulate you on winning. Now
it's time to head for the next Gym. Exit and Fly to Mahogany Town and then
take the right exit to Route 44.
**************
***Route 44***
**************
Defeat the trainer and get the Max Repel from the ball. The tree holds Burnt
Berry. Take the top route and fight another trainer. Register his number
and he'll call you when he finds items while fishing. Defeat another
trainer, get the Ultra Ball, and defeat the trainer next to the cave. You
can get his number to challenge him to more battles later. Head into the
cave.
**************
***Ice Path***
**************
This is pretty much straightforward until you get to the big ice field with
the rocks. Go up, left, up, left, down, left, up, left, down, right, down,
and right to get past it. Head to the ice field to your right and get HM07,
Waterfall from the other side. Take the ladder and then push the four
boulders into the holes. Take the ladder in the upper right corner of the
room. Get the Max Potion in the upper left corner of the room and then use
the boulders to get to the center land of the ice path. Get the Full Heal
and then take the ladder. Use Rock Smash on the rock and get Nevermeltice.
Take the ladder and then go down to the area of land you can jump off of.
Stand on the second space from the left and jump off. You can now reach
TM44, Rest. Take the ladder to the next room. Go down to the ice and there
are two paths. If you can get to the bottom, you can get an Iron. Take the
top to the next ladder. In the next room, go straight up to get a Protein.
Stand next to the left wall and go down to get a PP Up. Take the right way
down to get to the exit.

Max Potion 2500
Full Heal 600
Revive 1500

your Pokemon has learned, even a HM. To the far north of town is the
Blackthorn Gym.
********************
***Blackthorn Gym***
********************
All of the trainers here use Dragon-type, so you should use Ice. Defeat
the first trainer and go upstairs. Drop a boulder in the hole and then defeat
the trainer to the south. Defeat another trainer at the top of the room
and then push the boulder in the hole to the right of him. Push a final
boulder into the other hole to the south of that one and then go down the
stairs. Fight two more trainers and then battle Clair. After you defeat
her, she won't give you the badge yet. You mush go to the Dragon's Den behind
the Gym and prove yourself. Exit the gym and use Surf to reach the Den.
******************
***Dragon's Den***
******************
Enter and go down the ladder. Defeat the trainer and then Surf around the
left side of the rocks. Use Whirlpool to get rid of the whirlpool and enter
the Den. You'll be tested inside. Answer the questions like a good trainer
and you should pass with no problem. Clair then will come in and after a
little arguing, she will fork over the Rising Badge. It allows your Pokemon
to use Waterfall and all Pokemon will obey you. When you try to leave, Clair
will apologize and give you TM24, Dragonbreath. After she leaves, go back
in and talk to the man again and he will give you a Dratini that knows Extreme
Speed. Exit the cave and Professor Elm will call you. He has something for
you back at his lab.
Fly back to New Bark Town and head for Elm's lab. He will give you the Master
Ball. Now it's time to head for Indigo Plateau. Go to the far right side
of New Bark Town and Surf onto Route 27.
**************
***Route 27***
**************
Pretty straightforward. Surf to the other side and you'll enter Kanto. Enter
Tohjo Falls.
*****************
***Tohjo Falls***

Surf and go all the way left to find a Moon Stone. Go back to the start
and use Waterfall to climb the waterfall. Head right and down the next
waterfall to find the exit.

As soon as you exit the falls, you're attacked by a trainer. Defeat her
and then Surf to the next area. Battle the two trainers and then surf down
to the whirlpool. Use whirlpool and then follow the path. Defeat Jose and
you can register his number. He'll call if his Farfetch'd finds gifts.
Inside the ball is TM22, Solarbeam. Go back to the path and fight another
trainer. You can register Reena's number for future battles. Continue on
to Route 26.
**************
***Route 26***
**************
Fight a couple trainers and then follow the grassy area north to a house.
Enter and the girl inside will heal your Pokemon. The tree behind the house
has Ice Berry. When you exit, go left and then south to find the Day Siblings
house. Read their book and you'll find where they are each day. Head north
and you'll battle a couple more trainers. You can register both of their
numbers for later battles. When you see the gift ball on the other side
of the wall, it's Max Elixer. You can get it by going around to the top
of the wall and jumping down to it. Enter the building at the top and you'll
enter Victory Road.
******************
***Victory Road***
******************
When you enter, go north until you reach a fork in the path. Go right and
down the stairs. Follow the path up and you'll find two gift balls. They
contain Full Heal and Max Revive. Go back to the fork in the path and go
left. Take the ladder to the next floor. Go up the stairs and then to the
right. Go down the stairs and get the HP Up from the gift ball to your left.
Follow around to the right and go north to the ladder. Follow around to
the bottom of the area and climb down the ladder to find a Full Restore.
Go back up and to the top of the area and drop down the hole do the left
to find TM26, Earthquake. Jump down to the right and go back up the ladder.
Go up and you'll find the exit. Your rival will challenge you to a battle.
His Pokemon are Golbat, Magneton, Sneasel, Kadabra, Haunter, and the final
evolution of his starting Pokemon. Exit through the door to Route 23.
**************
***Route 23***
**************
Nothing much here. It's pretty much just a path to Indigo Plateau.
********************
***Indigo Plateau***
********************
Finally, the Pokemon League HQ. There is a Pokemart and Pokecenter inside
of the building. If you talk to the man standing in front of the Pokecenter
desk, his Abra can teleport you home to Kanto. He will disappear after you
defeat the Elite Four.
Ultra Ball 1200
Max Repel 700
Hyper Potion 1200
Max Potion 2500
Full Restore 3000

Full Heal 600
Now it's time to head upstairs and battle the Elite Four. Most of their
Pokemon are in the in the 40-50 range so make sure your Pokemon are in the
50's. You should take some good Water, Fire, Psychic, Lightning, and
possibly a Dragon-type with you. First up is Will who uses Psychic Pokemon.
Second is Koga who uses Poison Pokemon. Third is Bruno who uses Fighting.
Karen uses the Dark type. Finally you face Lance who uses the Dragon type
Pokemon. After you defeat Lance, Professor Oak and Mary come up to interview
you. Lance pulls you away and you register your Pokemon. Now the credits
roll, but the game isn't over yet. Start again and you're back in New Bark
Town.
*******************
***New Bark Town***

As soon as you continue your game, Professor Elm calls you and tells you
that he has something for you. Go to his laboratory and he gives you the
S.S. Ticket. You can now sail back to Kanto and get access to the rest of
the areas there. Fly to Olivine City to find the ship, the S.S. Aqua. When
you arrive, go south and go down the stairs. Go up another set and follow
the dock to the boat. Show the man your ticket and enter the ship.
***************
***S.S. Aqua***
***************
Inside, an old man will run into you. His granddaughter has run off and
he's trying to find her. The far left cabin on the top is yours. You can
heal your Pokemon there if you need to. There's nothing really important
in any of the cabins here, just some trainers. Defeat them and then take
the stairs in the lower right corner. Talk to the sailor and he'll ask you
to look for his buddy. Go back upstairs and enter the cabin to the right
of yours to find him. Defeat him and he'll go back to work. Head back down
the stairs and defeat a few more trainers. Go down the next set of stairs
and enter the captain's quarters where you'll find the little girl pestering
the captain. Talk to her and she'll head back to Grandpa. He'll give you
the Metal Coat for bringing her back to him. After he gives it to you, the
captain announces that the boat has docked at Vermillion City. If you want
to sail back to Johto, the ship sails on Wednesday and Sundays. Exit and
follow the dock to the stairs. Go up the next set of stairs and exit to

to the Gym. You will also find the Pokecenter in this area.
*****************
***Fuchsia Gym***
*****************
There are invisible walls in this Gym and all of the trainers are imitating
Janine to fool you. Follow the parameter of the room following the right
wall around. You'll find Janine standing next to the left wall. Everyone
here uses Poison-type so you better use Rock or Psychic-types. Winning gets
you the Soul Badge and TM09, Toxic.
Now Fly back to Vermilion City and go up to the Snorlax. Find the Poke Flute
station on your Pokegear and use it to wake up the Snorlax. After it's out
of your way, enter the Diglett Cave.
******************
***Diglett Cave***
******************
Not much, just a path to Route 2.
*************
***Route 2***
*************
If you go south, you can get a Max Potion, Dire Hit and find a Psncureberry
tree. Cut the tree to the right and enter the building to meet Professor
Oak's assistant. Exit to the north and enter the next house. Talk to the
man inside and he'll give you a Nugget. Exit and follow the trees to the
right to find a Carbos. Now head north to Pewter City.
*****************
***Pewter City***
*****************
The first building you come too is the Pokecenter. Talk to the man at the
far right of town to get the Silver Wing. The Pokemart is to the left of
him.
Great Ball 600
Super Potion 700
Super Repel 500
Antidote 100
Parlyz Heal 200
Awakening 250
Burn Heal 250
In the upper right of the city are Ice Berry and Mint Berry trees. To the
left of there is the closed Museum. Go south to the Pewter Gym.
****************
***Pewter Gym***
****************
The trainers here use Rock-type so you should use a good Grass or Water-type.
There is only one trainer between you and Brock. Defeating Brock gets you
the Boulder Badge. Now go east to Route 3.
*************
***Route 3***
*************
Defeat trainers along this route until you reach Mt. Moon.
**************
***Mt. Moon***
**************
As soon as you enter, your rival challenges you to a battle. He now has
Magneton, Gengar, Sneasel, Alakazam, Golbat and the final form of his
starting Pokemon. If you walk over to the ladder and exit the cave, you'll
find a Pokemart.
Pokedoll 1000
Fresh Water 200
Soda Pop 300
Lemonade 350
Repel 350
Portrait Mail 50
Now fly back to Pewter City and take Route 2 to Viridian City.
*******************
***Viridian City***
*******************
The Gym is to your right when you enter the city, but no one is there at
the moment. To the south is a Trainer House. You can battle once a day inside
of it. The person you battle will usually have a few Lv. 50 Pokemon, but
if you did Mystery Gift with someone that day, you'll battle their party.
The Pokemart and Pokecenter are in the southeast part of town.
Ultra Ball 1200
Hyper Potion 1200
Full Heal 600
Revive 1500
Antidote 100
Parlyz Heal 200
Awakening 250
Burn Heal 250
Flower Mail 50
Cut the tree in the lower left corner of town and talk to the man to get
TM42, Dream Eater. Now head south to Route 1.
*************
***Route 1***
*************
If you take the left side of the route, you'll find a Bitter Berry tree.
Battle trainers as you head south to Pallet Town.
*****************
***Pallet Town***
*****************
The house to the left when you enter is Red's house. The house to the right
is Blue's house. Go to Blue's house between 3 and 4 to get your Pokemon
groomed by Blue's sister. Professor Oak's lab is right below Blue's house.
He'll grade your Pokedex and ask you to come back after you get all eight
Kanto badges. Go to the water in the lower left of town and Surf down to
Route 21.
**************
***Route 21***
**************
Surf down and battle any trainers that get in your way. You'll eventually
reach Cinnabar Island.
*********************
***Cinnabar Island***
*********************
Get onto the island and talk to Blue. He'll teleport back to Viridian City.
Heal your Pokemon at the Pokecenter and then Surf off of the bottom of the
island. Surf to the east until you get to the Seafoam Islands. Enter to
battle Blaine. He uses all Fire-type so you should use Water-type. Winning
gets you the Volcano Badge.
Fly back to Viridian City and battle Blue. He uses a variety of Pokemon
so you should too. Winning here gets you the Earth Badge. Now go back to
Pallet Town and talk to Professor Oak. He'll let you go to Mt. Silver now.
Go back to Viridian and take the west exit of town to Route 22.
**************
***Route 22***
**************
No trainers here, just follow the route to the building at the end. Enter
it and take the exit at the left side of the building to Route 28.
**************
***Route 28***
**************
Follow the bottom path on the Route to Silver Cave.
*****************
***Silver Cave***
*****************
Follow the path up to the Pokecenter. Go right and cut the two trees to
reach the house behind them. Talk to the lady inside to get TM47, Steel
Wing. Now go back and get healed at the Pokecenter. Now it's time to enter
the cave itself.
Follow around on the left side and get the Escape Rope. Climb the stairs
to the right to get a Protein. Take the stairs behind that and follow around
until you can climb down. Open the ball to get an Ultra Ball. Climb the
next stairs and go all the way up. You can go either left or right at the
top. Go left to get a Max Elixir and right to get to the next area.
If you Surf to the left and Waterfall when you enter, you can get to a room
containing Max Revive. Now go back and climb the three sets of stairs and
head to the top. You can use Surf to reach another room containing Full
Restore. Now go back and enter the door to reach the final room and the
final battle with Red. Red uses Pikachu, Snorlax, Espeon, Charizard,
Venusaur, and Blastoise. Choose your Pokemon to attack their weaknesses
and you shouldn't have too much trouble.
Congratulations! You're now a Pokemon Master Trainer.

2) Breeding
======================================================================
In Pokemon Crystal, there is a Pokemon Daycare to the south of Goldenrod
City. If you leave two Pokemon there that are part of the same Egg Group,
they will have an egg.
Other important things to know about eggs:
1) If the Pokemon in the egg can learn a TM move and its male parent knows
the same move, the baby will be born with that move.
2) If the Pokemon in the egg can learn a certain move by leveling up and
both parents know the same move, the baby will be born with that move already
learned.
3) If four or more moves can be inherited, moves the Pokemon would normally
learn before Level 5 will be forgotten, started with the one learned at
the oldest.
4) Incidentally, a Pokemon that comes from an egg will be hatched as a
completely unevolved form of the female parent.
