Introduction -

This is my first FAQ, Walktrough, and Guide and I hope to
make this a huge success. This is for the very cool simulation
game, Harvest Moon 2 for Gameboy Color. I hope this will help
you a lot because I will be putting a lot of effort into it.

Harvest Moon 2 (GBC) FAQ, Walkthrough, and Guide]) on GameFaqs.
Added a little bit throughout my FAQ. No Walkthrough updates
yet. I have decided to cut the Walkthrough until I finish all
of the rest of the FAQ. Started the FAQ section today.

5-01-01: Version 1.2
Ah! It's a new month, May! Anyways to celebrate, I have
updated the FAQ section and added some guides (charts). That's
not all! I have many new stuff! Check them out! Haven't posted
yet on Gamefaqs, but will be - maybe when I have the time.

About the Game, Harvest Moon -

The ENGLISH version of Harvest Moon 2 (GBC) was released on
November 11, 2000. (About 7-9 months before my FAQ was written)
The JAPANESE version of Harvest Moon 2 (GBC) was released on
September 8, 1999. (That was a while back!) The EUROPEAN
version should be out already, because it was scheduled for
release on the 1st Quarter of 2001. This game is much more
different and has much more features than the last. It can be
played with the Original Gameboy, with no color, the Pocket
Gameboy, with no color, but smaller, the Color Game Boy, with
color of course, and a smaller version too, and finally, the
Super Gameboy accesory to the Super Nintendo. It also has the
capability to Link up with another gameboy and trade data.
(Meaning animals, bugs, fish, seeds, pets, maps, and other
good stuff) It can also use the cool accesory the Gameboy
Printer and print out pictures that are taken in the game like
fish, bugs, festivals, and more. The game is basically a
simulation game, where you go out and farm. Its gameplay takes
up in each day consisting of 18 hours, each day starting at
6 A.M. and ending at 12 P.M. Each year has 4 seasons (DUH!) and
each season has 30 days. Each day really is 120 seconds in the
real world, which is 4 minutes. Each hour really is 20 seconds.
Time stops when you enter a building or a shop. (Which is so
extremely not real)

[U] - Moves the character up.
Moves the cursor up.

[L] - Moves the character left.
Moves the cursor left.

<Select> - Shows the item screen.
Shows the menu screen. (at the item screen)
Shows how much money you have. (at a shop)

<Start> - Nothing.

(B) - Cancels the item.
Switch tools.
Run.

(A) - Selects the item.
Toss held item.
Use current tool.

Getting Started -
Pop in your Gamepak, flip the switch, adjust the sound, and
wait until the screen with the guy and the girl walking their
animals pops up. Press the (A) button. You will go to the main
screen. It will say:

Choose S T A R T to begin. It will ask you to choose a gender.
Then it will ask for your name. Then finally, your birthdate.
The birthdate can be a bit tricky... For instance, your
birthday is on the 31st of December. The game only goes up to
the 30th each season and there are four seasons, not months. So
I have included something that should be helpful to choosing
what season to put your birthdate on.

If you were born on the 31st, put the 30th.

You'll start off at the Mayor's house. Another man and he are
discussing what to do since the village is going poor. The man
decides to turn the farm into a theme park to raise money for
the village. The Mayor doesn't want to but he has to. Now, you
show up and talk with the Mayor. You tell him not to sell the
farm and let you run the farm for a while. The Mayor gives you
three and a half years to run it and see if it turns into a
success...

NOTE: Depending on your gender, you will receive a different
amount of G on the first day you play. If you chose a
guy, you got 500 G. If you chose the girl... well, you
get 1000 G. I guess choosing your gender determines your
difficulty level.

Other things to do on the Main Screen -

Choose C O N T I N U E to continue from a saved game. If you
just got the game then select S T A R T. Otherwise, continue by
pressing the (A) Button on C O N T I N U E. Then highlight what
save you want to play and press the (A) Button again.

File 1 - Is the saved game and is one of the saves.

File 2 - Is would be a saved game, if you saved to the file or
copied File 1 to it.

Jack - Is the name of the character you are playing. Jack is
also the original name of the character.

01 - Is the current year of the game.

Summer - Is the current season of the game.

24 - Is the current date of the game.

NOTE: The file that is highlighted is marked by the two ||
(double bars).

The Copy feature is to copy a saved game to the other diary.
That way, if you messed up on something, you can still continue
from earlier. It is very simple to use. All you do is press the
(A) Button on C O P Y and highlight the file you want to copy
and press the (A) Button again. Then copy it to the File 2.

The Erase feature is to erase a saved game. It will be hardly
used unless you have beaten the game and want to play it over.
All you do is press the (A) Button on E R A S E and highlight
the file you want to erase and press the (A) Button again.

FAQ -

Q. Why can't I buy a cow?

A. You don't have enough grass planted in the pasture. OR
You don't have enough money. OR
You don't have any food for the cows.

Q. Why can't I buy a chicken?

A. You don't have enough grass planted in the pasture. OR
You don't have enough money. OR
You don't have any food for the chickens.

Q. Where are all the power berries/apples?

A. All of the power berries/apples can be found from tilling
the ground. The last power berry/apple can be found after
you have built the bridge, since the last one is on the
other side.

Q. How do I get the Super Hoe?

A. In order to get the Super Hoe, use MY technique - keep
tilling the pastures until you get the 4th or 5th power
apple/berry. You will say you have broken the Hoe and you
need to get it fixed. If it is late then wait until
tommorow. Otherwise, go to Bill and Will's Tool Shop.
Talk to the twin there and he will fix the Hoe for you.
Return in 3 days and you will get the S. Hoe.

Q. How do I get the Super Sickle?

A. In order to get the Super Sickle, you have to become very
good friends with Bill and Will (the twins). On the very 1st
event, on the 25th of spring, talk to the twin in the town
square. He will say that the other twin can't come. When you
go to bed, the next morning, I think Bill? (The twin you
talked to at the festival) tells you the the other twin has
fallen off the cliff. He asks you to help. Then the screen
will BLACK OUT and you will start off at the Doctor's
Clinic. They will talk and say Will? (The twin that fell off
the cliff) is okay and only had some minor scrapes. I think
either Will or the Doctor will tell you that Will was
talking about some Whetstone on the mountain. You should go
and check it out. Run around the mountain and go back to the
village. Talk to the twin and he will tell you thanks and
give you the Super Sickle. (NOTE: THERE IS NO WHETSTONE!)

NOTE: I am not sure whether it is Bill or Will, but I can tell
who is who - Bill has Pink hair, Will has Green hair.
Please tell me who was the one that fell if I was
incorrect.

Q. How do I get the Super Axe?

A. You must become really really really good friends with
Daisy, owner of the flower shop.

Q. How do I get the Super Hammer?

A. Easy, when you build your first house extension Ken will
give you the Super Hammer.

The best way to plant your vegetables!

Here is a chart which show you the best ways to plant your
veggies:

1. OOO
OOO - Able to water all the plants, but lose one plant.
O O

2. OOO
O O - Great for when you have the sprinkler, just use the
O O sprinkler once and VOILA! You lose two plants though.

3. OOO
OOO - This is okay. You can do this to not lose any plants
OOO but you won't reach the middle one and it will take
longer to water your plants. It pays off at the end
for the extra plant. (Don't use this if you are
planting the "use once and grow all season" plants)

4. O O
O O - This should only be done if you are EXTREMELY RICH!
O O It saves you lots of time by just going up the path of
veggies and use the sprinkler.

When you are just beggining, use number 1. When you get the
sprinkler, use number 2. When you have the sprinkler and have
LOADS of money, use number 4. NEVER EVER USE NUMBER 3!
