2. Game Info
Spaceman Dynamite is causing trouble, and you have to stop him. You only get to
use Goemon
and Ebisumaru (Yae and Sasuke); but Ebisumaru and Goemon are separated! You
must pick the
character that you want to start with, and you start from where they are at.
They meet at a
specified town on the section section, so once you get there with one
character, you must
start with the other character and get them to meet at that town. You can
switch between
them afterward.

*Characters
Goemon - Male; Blue hairstyle and red outfit.
Ebisumaru - Male; Fat guy with the blue outfit.
Yae - Female; Green hair and purple outfit.
Sasuke - Male; Robot with green outfit.

*Items
-Ryo (Golden coins) : Monetary system in this game.
You can find these on the stages or by killing an enemy.
-Extra Life (Small red banner with two Japanese characters on it)
You can find these on the stages, usually at an out-of-the-way position.
-Dumplings (food that is shaped like 3-balls)
You can find these on the stages or by killing an enemy.
>White colored dumpling: restores one bar of life.
>Gold and sparkling dumpling: restores full life.
-Fortune Dolls (Various color cats that do different things)
You can find these on the stages, usually at an out-of-the-way position.
>White Dolls: Collecting five will add an extra bar of life onto your life
gauge.
>Black Dolls: Unknown?
>Gold Dolls: Unknown?

*Stores/Special Houses
-Hotel: House with Blue Banner and Japanese Characters
Allow you to STAY (first option; restores all life), LEAVE HOTEL (second
option),
or SAVE YOUR GAME (third option).
-General Store : House with Green Banner and Japanese Characters
Allows you to buy HELMETS (these protect against projectile hits; the more
expensive, the
more hits it can take), ARMOR (protects against direct blows from enemy; the
more expensive,
the more hits it can take), and RICE BALLS (a food looking item which restores
a certain
number of life bars when you lose them all; the more expensive, the more bars
that it
restores.)
-Food Store : House with Red Banner and Japanese Characters
Allows you to buy food which will restore your life bar; the more expensive,
the more bars
it will restore. Much cheaper than using a hotel if you only have a total of 3
or 4 bars
of life.
-Fortune Teller : House with Purple Banner and Japanese Character
(Big red house in Goemon's 1st town)
Tells you information (for a fee) which can help you to figure out what to do
next. Not any
use unless you know Japanese. After you beat the game, you can play the Yae and
Sasuke
mini-games here.
-Monster House : Big Blue House in Goemon's 1st Town)
Allows you to keep track of the monsters that you've meet and destroyed.

*Life in the Town
You can't talk to people who are walking around the town, but if you walk in a
stores/house,
you will automatically talk to the person inside. Press the B button or Down on
the D-Pad
to leave.
If you see a woman walking outside (usually wearing yellow, but they also wear
other colors
sometimes) walk into them for 20 ryo! If you see anyone walking around town in
purple
(they are usually men, but they can be other types of creatures) that follow
you, they are
theives! Hit them with your weapon to make them go away, but if they touch you,
they will take
50 ryo from you. Be careful when using your weapon in-town; if you hit anyone
besides a thief
with it, the guards will attack you!

*[Secret]
You will see alot of "[secret]" across this FAQ. See the "Secrets..." section
for more info on
these...

3. Walkthrough

In the first section, I said that the game gives you a choice to start with
Goemon or
Ebisumaru. They start at different sections of the map, but they eventually
meet up.
Once you choose one and complete their section, you must start with the other.
I started with Goemon, but if you want to use Ebisumaru, go down to that
section of the
walkthrough, and then come back to the Goemon section when that is completed.

Tropical Stage 1
Pretty straight-forward. Look for items in the lower section of this stage
[secret],
including a fortune doll accessible later in the stage.

Tropical Town
Talk to everyone and restock on items/food. The 2nd gateway leads to the next
stage if
you take it up and go left.

Tropical Stage 2
When you get to the blue-cat on the bridge, you must keep hitting him until he
gets pushed
back and off the bridge (you can't kill him since he deflect all hits).
Otherwise, this
is another straight-forward stage.

Tropical Boss Stage
You must stay on the platforms while avoiding and killing enemies. Continue on
and follow
the platforms up, then follow the path to the next one (on the second level is
a fortune
doll on the very left). In the next section, you must cross several merri-go
round type
platforms, and there is another doll on the way. Watch out for enemies that
attack from
behind! After this section, get Mr. Elly Fant (if you die, you can continue
here).
Continue to the next section to fight the boss.

BOSS: Robo-Cat
You must attack his gold neck ball to defeat him. He has 5 attacks:
-Gunfire: Watch out for the sparks on the ground and jump over them, then
attack!
-Paw Slap: His hand comes out to hit you, so duck, and while the hand his his
moving back,
you can attack him (just avoid touching his paw).
-Stomp: He flies off screen, and tries to stomp on you while dropping dangerous
items.
Avoid and attack.
-Rush: He rushes into to you (there is no way to stop this).
-Booster Stomp: Hovers above you until you are still, then he tries to land on
you.
Stay still, then moves as he comes down, then attack.
Keep attacking its neck bell to defeat him.

Desert Stage [secret]
Watch for the fast-moving yellow pyramids, the red ones which shoot fire and
the green ones
which launch up and try to fall on you. Later on, watch for the sand lobsters;
they take more
than one hit to kill. There is also a fortune doll on the upper ledges in this
area. You need
to kill the last blue lobster; once it's dead, you can use it's head to jump on
and continue
on to the end.

Meeting Place
Go down the path, and you Goemon mission ends here (you'll pick up with
Ebisumaru's segment of
the game).

Isn't it neat that all Goemon stages up to this point go from left to right,
and all Ebisumaru
stages go from right to left (like there actually trying to meet each other)?
Oh well...

Winter Stage 1
Watch out for the little red self-destructive monsters that jump around. Once
you reach a
dead-end, go down and to the right for dumplings and a fortune doll, then exit
to the left.

Winter Town
Restock on items and save, then go up to the next area and exit to the left.

Winter Stage 2
The ice is very slippery, and it makes you move faster than ordinary. Use this
to your
advantage to get over some of the harder jumps later on in the stage. Near the
end, take the
top route to get a golden dumpling, and the bottom route takes you to the exit.

Winter Boss Stage
Continue to the left, and you must wait for these spiked platforms to turn to
the flat side
so you can jump on them safely and continue across. The top route leads to an
extra life.
You can't defeat the double-spiked men, so avoid them. Another top route after
the spiked-men will lead to a fortune doll; take the bottom route to continue
on. Get Mr. Elly Fant, and
quickly walk across the ice while jumping over the hockey pucks. Continue to
the next section,
and wait between each gap section to avoid the spikes. Watch for the falling
block-men, then
take the elevator down to fight the boss.

BOSS: Flying Bot
You must attack the metal barrels that come out the floor while avoiding his
laser, his left arm
drill (just jump over it), and his snow spike attack (just run to the opposite
side on the
screen that he is on). Each time you destroy a barrel, it release fireballs
into the air which
can damage the boss (just make sure the boss is right above the barrel when you
destroy it, or
it will miss him). When the boss loses its shell, you must directly attack the
bottom of the
robot while avoiding the multiple lasers (just keep moving), and his fire
barrel attack (he will
grab a fire barrel out of the ground and shoot fire at you with it; just avoid
his attack.
With the claw (his right hand), he'll grab a monster; just attack it, then
continue to attack the
boss. Keep attack when possible to defeat him.

Woods Stage [secret]
Go straight and take the platforms up. Then go right for an extra, then go left
for a fortune
doll. Then go back down and to the left. Watch for red goblins with the sliding
kick attack.
After this section, you will meet Yae. You must using her to swim up a stream
while attack the
enemies in a Millipede-shooter style. Stay at the bottom of the screen, and
watch out for
the moving shadow under the water; it's a monster with a bazooka. Defeat the
mini-boss at
the top and exit.

Meeting Place
If you started with Ebisumaru, go down the path, and you'll be forced to switch
to Goemon's
side of the map (you'll have to get Goemon to this point before you can
continue on). Refer to
the top of this walkthrough section to start Goemon's adventure.
Otherwise (if you used Goemon second and you were forced to use Ebisumaru
second), you'll meet
with Goemon here. You can save your game at the sign next to the house, and if
you hit start,
you'll be able to switch characters by hitting left and right (there is no
difference in how
they attack, jump, or any other attributes).

Mountain Stage
Continue down the slopes, don't forget the fortune doll up the platforms on
your way down.
I suggest that you use projectiles (ninja stars/ryo) to take down the flying
enemies here.
When you get to the bottom, exit to the right.

Mountain Stage 2
Continue right, and watch out for the flying enemies and the missiles. After
the downslope,
ther is a fortune doll on a higher platform. Continue on [secret], to the end
to fight
another boss.

BOSS: Mech Cat
Keep hitting its gold medallion while avoiding its...
-Fist attack (2 fists come at you; hit them to destroy them)
-Fireball attack (run under the fireballs toward the boss to avoid them)
-Wind attack (tornados will come at you; jump or duck to avoid)
-Drill-missile attack (many drill-like missiles will come at you; just attack
them to get rid
of them. This works the best if you stay in the corner.)
-Rush attack (he will back up 1/2 way off the screen, then he rushes at you;
just duck)!
If his amulet shines, it will shoot lightning at you, so go back into the
corner, and get
under the lightning when he gets close to you (use this opportunity to attack).
Finally,
he will try to jump on you (purple arrows will show where he is falling from;
usually it is
right above you) and he will also come from below (purple smoke will show where
he is rising
from; once again, this is usually below where you are standing). In both cases,
try to get
in front of him and hit him as he is rising/falling. Continue to attack him
until is defeated.

Underworld Stage
Continue down, getting the fortune doll on the way. You'll find a yellow button
that you'll
have to hit. Hit it, and you'll fall down to a forced scrolling area in which
you have to go to the right. Watch for the drill and lava projectiles.
A mini-boss will appear near the end; avoid his triple-shot and his charge
attack (he'll turn
blue when he begins to do it) while attacking him. Hit the yellow button at the
end to stop
the train and proceed to the right to exit.

Underworld Town
You can play a number of different games in this town (second level up), and
the store with
the rectangular blue sign allows you to exchange your monster list with another
Game Boy.
You can go down (there is a stairway at the bottom of the screen where the 1st
stairway is)
and exit to the right.

Underworld Stage 2
Continue to the right [secret], while avoiding lava; quickly get above the
lava's highest level
by jumping to the higher platforms. Sometimes, it's best to wait before jumping
to lowere platforms (the lava could rise up on you while you're down there).
Use the rock platforms on
the lava to continue on, and in the next section, you'll be in an elevator
which is always rising
while enemies are attacking from above. After rising out of the underground
area, missiles will
come down from above; avoid them or attack them to destroy the missiles. Once
you reach the top,
continue right and collect Mr. Elly Fant. Then you'll meet Sasuke, and he'll
take you through
a Gradius-type shooter across the sky. Stay to the left of the screen,
eliminate the enemies,
and exit to the air base at the end.

Air Base Boss Stage
Continue to the right while watching out for the yellow spike monsters (they're
invincible until
they stop blinking), and take the yellow elevator up (if you continue to the
right before taking
the elevator, it will lead to a black fortune doll), and continue to the right
on the next
section. Watch for falling nails and other enemies as you make your way across.
One of the rail
platforms has a lower section which leads to an extra! Continue right to the
next section.
Here, you must continue right on the conveyor belts while destroying enemies
that hurl themselves
at you. Continue until you see a ladder (or continue on to find a fortune
doll), and go up it.
Follow the conveyor belts and paths until you reach the next section.
In this new section, pick up Mr. Elly Fant and continue past the electric
shields when they are
off (some have different patterns in which they do this, so be careful). Once
you make it past
this section, another section will come in which you have to climb a ladder and
avoid the
electric shields again. Make to the top, and continue right through the next
two sections to
meet the boss.

You finally meet Spaceman Dynamite up and personal, but you aren't fighting
him...

IMPACT BOSS: SUPER MECHA
Punch all projectiles; this allows you to get more ryo to shoot him with. The
number in the
lower-left shows how many ryo bullets you can shoot at him. The number in the
lower-right
shows how much energy you have left. The number on the top shows your boss'
energy level.
The bar in the lower-middle slowly increase during battle. When it reaches the
max, you can
do an Impact laser beam!
When he comes close, rapidly tap the punch button to attack. You can also
damage him from afar
by using your ryo bullets.

Moon Stage
Just continue to the left and try not to jump; this stage has a realistic
approach to the
moon's gravity. If you jump, you will go much higher, and it will take awhile
for you to come
down. Try to limit your jumping to avoid the projectile-throwing enemies. Be
sure that you
watch out for the red praying mantises as you continue left to exit.

Moon Town
Stock up on items and save before you exit to the left.

Moon Stage 2
Continue on, and before you continue to the next section, follow the pillars up
to the right
for an extra. Go across this room on the tricky spike platforms to the next
room. Grab
Mr. Elly Fant here [secret][secret], and continue left across the spikes. Use
the platforms
to get to the next room. In this new room, continue passed the falling pillars
to the next room.
Now you're in a red-and-white room. Use the springs to get to the top while
avoiding
the enemies here. Once you are at the top, go to the left to get an extra, then
go to the right
to exit (if you miss the last jump on purpose before you get to the last
platform on your way
to the next room, you'll fall next to an extra)! In the next room, hit the
glowing button and
jump into the portal that it makes. Pick up all the dumplings, money and extras
that you want
here (just stay on the platform), and exit through the portal at the very end.

Final Stage
Avoid the many projectile-shooting enemies while making your way down the
slopes and get to the
next room by jumping down the hole. You will fall on top of a fuse, and when
it's lit, you must rush the right while avoiding the on-coming enemies. Once
you pass this section to get to
the next room, take the platform around the room [secret] until you see an
arrow pointing
to the right. Get off at that platform and continue right. Grab Mr. Elly Fant
and continue right
to the next room, but be careful while attacking the dynamite men. In the next
room, watch out
for the Red Vader-like enemies (when they blink, they can't be hurt) and follow
the disappearing
platforms to the next room.
After talking to Spaceman Dynamite, you must float around without gravity (you
can move as you
please without using the jump button) and destroy all the heart-shaped monsters
that come after
you. If they stick to you, wiggle the joystick to shake them off. At the top of
the room, you'll
find some dumplings if you need them. Destroy them all for the final battle!

IMPACT BOSS: DYNA-MECHA
Use the same strategy that allowed you to defeat the first Impact boss. Just
remember that you
can't shoot him when his arms are crossed; the bullets will deflect off of him
if they are
crossed. Punch/shoot all cats and projectiles, and if you punch the bells that
he throw at you
back at him, they will hit him!
When you defeat him, you've beaten the game. But...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Secrets...
After you beat the game, you can:
-Replay all the stages (but the final Impact boss is the only boss you can
fight again)
-Go to any fortune teller and pay him to play the Yae/Sasuke mini-stage games
-Return to the Woods Stage and use Goemon/Ebisumaru to finish the stage instead
of Yae [secret]
-Return to Underworld Stage 2 and use Goemon/Ebisumaru to finish the stage
instead of Sasuke
(you can grab a fortune doll along the way)

It seems that Konami made two different versions of these stages. After you
beat the game,
you can get past the section that required the help on Yae and Sasuke in the
past.

There are 15 regular fortune dolls, 5 gold, and 5 black.  When the 5 gold ones
are
collected, you receive Goemon's golden pipe, which knocks thru the "[secret]"
walls.
Then, upon collecting the 5 black dolls, you recieve Ebisumaru's ability to
shrink. Just hit start and press right twice. This will allow access to the
small "[secret]" paths.
Every 5 regular dolls equals one extra life bar.

You've probably been wondering what "[secret]" means; they are all over the
FAQ. These are
hiddent places in that respective stage which is usually inaccessible.
Sometimes, it's an
area which is too small for Goemon/Ebisumaru to get through, and the other
times, it's a
stone wall which prevents access. In most places, you can see that the
"[secret]" offers
a fortune doll or an extra, but other times, you can't tell where it will take
you. By collecting
all the fortune dolls you can (as noted above), you get get the right magic to
access these
areas. Thanks to Nathan DiDonato for this info.
