DRAGON WARRIOR II STAT GAINS GUIDE (original NES version)
In Dragon Warrior II, unlike in the other DW titles on NES, the stat gains are
absolutely set in stone for every person on every level. In case you are
curious what kind of gains you'll get before you get there, here they are!
********************PART 1: WHAT DO THESE NUMBERS MEAN?*********************
Strength: This number tells you how much damage you can do with a weapon. As
it increases, you cause more damage. Simple as that. Midenhall has the most;
Moonbrooke has the least; Cannock's is low until very late in the game when it
grows to be pretty high.
Agility: This is the basis of defense power. As agility increases, defense
power does as well and enemy attacks do less damage. In later Dragon Warrior
games, Agility affects the order your fighters take in combat, with fast
fighters tending to act first... but not in this game. It's totally random.
Moonbrooke has the most and Midenhall the least. However,
they are not all that far apart in agility.
Max HP: Higher max HP means that you can take more enemy attacks. Midenhall
has the most, Moonbrooke the least. In the middle of the game, Moonbrooke and
Cannock have about the same amount, but as you gain levels Cannock pulls
ahead.
Max MP: Casting spells uses MP so more MP means more spells you can cast
before resting. Moonbrooke has the most, Cannock fewer than Moonbrooke, and
Midenhall none at all because he cannot use spells.
Attack Power: Figured by adding strength to the power of your equipped weapon,
this is how much damage you can do to the enemies.
Defense Power: This is figured by adding half of your agility to the power of
your armor, the power of your shield, and the power of your helmet. Throughout
the game, Midenhall has way more defense power than the two magicians since he
can equip many more things than they can.
***************************PART 2: THE STAT GAINS***************************
Stats for the Prince of Midenhall:
Midenhall gains the most strength and HP. You might notice at about level 32,
his stats go up rather slowly (though at that time he is gaining levels more
often than the other two). Midenhall's max level is 50.
This is how much you GAIN: This is how much, total, you have:
Though mediocre on strength for most of the game, at level 28 his strength
suddenly begins growing very quickly. He'll end up nearly as strong as
Midenhall if you level him enough, and your party will seem as if it had
gained a member. His max level is 45.
She gains levels quite a bit more slowly than the other two, because her max
level is only 35, but she gets there at about the same time that the others
get to 45 and 50.
