[Note: Though it was supposed to be the final version, I retweaked a
few small details to ensure faster running, made a note about the
optionless clicking and thanks to [email protected], I found what looks
to be the last possible item you don't need! It was a shocker to learn
about this one and find it to be true. I ALSO found out, by accident,
that you can HIT the Door Knocker [You have to specifically use the
command while the cursor is on the knocker or you waste time] which
means you can then click the same spot and K.O. the butler, hence
saving time scrolling through options.

The Quick Story
---------------

Waking up in a Bathroom stall wasn't how you planned to spend the day..
neither was this headache and holes on your neck... WAIT!... Ah.. a
reflection in the mirror! So you're NOT a vampire! But who the heck
are you! Why is everyone out to kill you? Why does everything seem
like you're getting framed hardcore? You've gotta find a way to get
your memory back quick, and get rid of this frame job before you
find yourself doing life for something you have no clue about!

Intro
-=-=-

Alrightee! Now that we've dispensed with those pleaseantries, let us
get down to business, shall we? Now what is the point of this guide?
Well I've been playing this game for a few days now and read through
the other guides, and some have it NEARLY right for speed, but they
mention picking up or doing something else you don't have to do.. so
in comes my guide. By following these steps, you will be able to beat
Deja Vu in about 20 minutes or so. [if not faster.. my personal best
is under 20 mins.. and that was with a few mistakes.. under 19 is
DEFINITELY possible] If there IS a faster way, please by all means let
me know so I may properly get this updated and you credit for the
finding. Anyways, enough babble, on to the good stuff.

Part 1 - What you will need to be aware of!
-------------------------------------------

There's a few things you're going to have to be aware of when you do
a speed run for Deja Vu. Cabs, Coins, Random Factors & Absolute MUSTS!

A. Cabs

Contrary to virtually every guide I've read, you SHOULDN'T avoid using
the Blue Cab unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary! The Blue cabbie may be
gruff, but he's closer and has the same amount of lines as the Yellow
Cabbie. THE BIG DIFFERENCE IS! The demeanor if you're going to stiff
him cab fare. If you're down to 1-2 coins left and need to go back to
Peoria, pray you used the Yellow Cab as he'll have left you off with a
warning and pay your fare the one time only. If you EVER hit 0 coins..
you're absolutely screwed! UNLESS!!! It's the LAST ride of the game
and you're using the Yellow cab to go back to Peoria and used your
last 3 to get to the prior destination.

B. Coins

Which brings us to the topic of coins! You will need a minimum of 15
and a maximum of 18. I don't know why other guides tell you to get
30, though I guess it's good if you make a mistake. You will need a
minimum of 15 if you use the Yellow cab as a last resort option with
3 coins to Auburn Rd. and a charity ride back to Peoria, or 18 for
nothing but the Blue cab if you have 18 or more.

C. Random Factors

Which brings us to the issue of Random Factors! These are what can
kill a FLAWLESS speed run every time! These essentially are,

1. The Slot Machine... I mean you CAN get lucky the first time you
use it..I've managed to nail 3 Cherries first spin and get 20 coins
total. Sometimes it will take you every last coin before you hit it
lucky. As long as you have one coin, you will ALWAYS win on that last
coin.

2. The homeless bum who offers you a life saving tip for 50 cents.
The best I managed was 1 encounter the entire game, and you may be
able to avoid him completely!

3. The Mugger! This scum will try and rob you up to several times
in the game. You can achieve a game WITHOUT SEEING HIM! If you DO run
into him, slug him hard. You can do this 3 times before having no
choice but to give him the $20 Bill.

4. The Hot Dame outside the Police Station! You can ALSO have a game
without seeing her once! If you do, your only option is to give her a
kiss... with your knuckles. Anything else and she shoots you... BLAM!

D. Absolute Musts!

There are several thing you ABSOLUTELY MUST DO to satisfy the games
demands. This speed guide informs you of EXACTLY what to do every step
of the game. Not following it can lead to being busted by the cops
later on when you go to them to beat the game. Trust me... last thing
you want to happen is you go to the cops and realize you didn't do
something properly and they arrest you. You MUST use the GUN 1 three
times for SURE, Or you'll never get rid of this nightmare. Please
note that this is EXACTLY WHAT SETS THIS APART FROM THE OTHER GUIDES
AVAILABLE ON GAMEFAQS! [Every single one tells you to do things that
you DON'T have to do and hence wastes valuable time. That is also why
this is dubbed as a Minimalist Completion Guide. If you want more to
do, follow one of the other ones.]

Do also note that in SOME cases, you don't need to click on an option
to do an action on something. For instance, some windows you can open
merely by placing the curser on it and hitting the "A' button. This
can also be used in the regards of examining stuff, like pictures, as
well. Please note this as it can IMMENSELY speed up your game.

Now that we've established these basics, let's get down to the Speed
Guide itself :) Please note, I'm going on the thought that you have
a reasonable idea of the game's menu systems and a rough visual idea
from the game to follow through.

GAG, LETTER1 & MEMO

38. Go up 3 times to exit the sewer and back to the street. Go right
1 screen to the Police Station. Enter and congratulate yourself :)
Once you reach the screen with Ace under the spotlights, you've
   essentially just beat the game!

End Credits and Stuffage
------------------------

I hope this has been a great deal of help to anyone who has struggled
through this challenging game. It was a lot of fun plotting everything
down to this absolute minimum and testing it out :)

I'd like to also now SPECIALLY thank Hans Olsson for pointing out to
me something that, for the life of me, escaped my final testing. Thanks
to him, I found out the bookmark doesn't need to be taken from the
Diary, which saves a good 4-6 seconds of time. And though the use of
Key 3 earlier is negligible compared to doing it when you go back, it
makes sense to just get it over with.
