Super Expert Rule

A) Summoning Creatures
In Super Expert Rule, you must tribute. Tribute is when you sacrifice
a weak creature out on the field for a stronger creature. You must
sacrifice a certain number of creatures for creatures of certain level.
Each creature has stars on it. That is the creature's level. The more
stars, the higher the level. Here is the chart for tributes.
Lv. 1-4: 0 Sacrifice
Lv. 5-6: 1 Sacrifice
Lv. 7-8: 2 Sacrifices
Lv. 9-12: 3 Sacrifices
Ex: You want to play a Summoned Skull (Level 5). You must sacrifice
ANY creature out on the field to use it.
B) Using Magic Cards
In Super Expert Rule, you can play as many magic cards as you want
per turn. You can play magic card first, then creature, or creature
first and then magic.
Ex: You can play Dark Hole first, and then a creature so you get a
direct damage.

Using Trap Cards
===============================================================================
Trap cards are cards that can do extreme damage to your opponent. Many
destroys creatures, but there are others that does damage. Some does
direct damage for every card the opponent discards. There are many
types of trap cards. Here is how traps are used.
1) Play trap FACE DOWN.
2) Wait for someone to do what it says on the card.
3) Activate the trap.
That's it. It is very simple.
Trap cards are Red.

Using Magic Cards
===============================================================================
Magic cards are used to help you win duels. You can get more lifepoint,
destroy traps, destroy creatures, or do direct damage. There are many
kinds of magic cards. To use magic cards, just play it. You can either
play it face down and then activate it, or play it right out of your
hand.
Magic cards are Green.

Using Equip Cards
===============================================================================
Equip cards are used to power up your creature(s). Each equip card
works on certain types of creatures.
Ex: Use a Megamorph (2x atk/def point) on a Blue-eyes White Dragon to
make its attack point 6000 and defense 5000.
Equip cards are Green.

Using Ritual Cards
===============================================================================
Ritual cards are used to summon powerful creatures. To use these cards,
you need to have these:
1) Ritual card on the field or in your hand.
2) The finished ritual in your hand.
3) A certain number of creatures with certain levels.
With these three things, you can summon a creature.
Ex: You have a Dark Eyes Ritual out on the field. You also have a
Relinquished in your hand. If you have any creature(s) with levels
that total up to 1, then you can sacrifice those creatures to summon
Relinquished.

Using Polymerization Cards
===============================================================================
Some powerful cards are made from the fusion of two weaker creatures.
To use these fusion cards, you need the required cards in your hand,
out on the field, or both. Once you have all cards required and a
Polymerization, you can use Polymerization to combine the required
cards together to form the fusion card which will be in your fusion
deck.
Ex: You have a Blue-eyes White Dragon out on the field. You have
two Blue-eyes White Dragons and a Polymerization. You also have a
Blue-eyes Ultimate Dragon in your fusion deck. Now if you use
Polymerization, you can sacrifice the Blue-eyes White Dragons to
summon the Blue-eyes Ultimate Dragon which has 4500 attack points.
Polymerization cards are purple.

Using Effects
===============================================================================
Some creatures in Duel Monsters has effects. They all do very helpful
things. Some creatures can do direct damage while others can draw
cards from your deck.
Ex: You play a Cyber-Stein and use his effect. You lose 5000 lifepoints
and summon a fusion card.
Effect cards are Orange.
===============================================================================
Dueling
===============================================================================
There are phases in dueling. *After the Rock-Paper-Scissors, press B
to go to another Phase.
1) Decision Phase: Do Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide who goes first.
2) Draw Phase: Draw 5 cards (on first turn) and 1 every other turn.
3) Stand-by Phase: There are magic/trap/effects that activate in this
phase. If you don't have anything then you will just zip through this
phase.
4) Main Phase: Play creatures, magic, trap, and equips in this phase.
To play a creature, select a creature you want to play from your hand.
Press A. To play it in attack mode, select the tornado-like one. To
play it in attack mode, select the face down card one. Attack mode
is when your creature can attack. Defense mode is when your creature
defends and cannot attack.
5) Battle Phase: Here you can attack the opponent's creature(s). To
attack, select a creature you want to attack with, press A, select
the sword, and select a creature you want to attack.
6) Main Phase 2: If you didn't summon a creature in Main Phase, you can
do so here. You can also do Polymerization (combining of 2 specific
creatures), play rituals, or use magic/trap cards.
7) End Phase: In this phase, if you have more than 6 cards, you must
discard cards so you only have 6. After you do so, it will be the
opponent's turn.
*8* End Duel: Each player will continue to do phase 2-7 until
someone is victorious. At that point the duel will be over.

Attacking/Defending
===============================================================================
On your Main Phase, if you want to play a creater in attack mode,
select the tornado-like icon. If you want to play a creature in defense
mode, pick the icon with the card that is placed horizontally. Once you
pick which mode you want to play your card in, you cannot change it that
turn so decide carefully. On your next turn you can change it, but once
you change it, it will stay like that. Also, to attack, you just have to
enter Battle Phase. There, all the creatures in attack mode will get a
sword mark. Select it, press A, and pick a creature you want to attack.

There are 3 things that can happen if your opponent's creature is in
attack mode and 3 things that can happen if it is in defense mode.
When Your Opponent's Creature is in Attack Mode:
1) Your Creature's Attack > Your Opponent's Creature's Attack
The opponent's creature is destroyed. The difference in the two
creature's attack point is subtracted from the opponent's lifepoint.
2) Your Creature's Attack = Your Opponent's Creature's Attack
Both creatures are destroyed. There is no lifepoint deducted in
this case.
3) Your Creature's Attack < Your Opponent's Creature's Attack
Your creature will be destroyed. The difference in the two
creature's attack point is subtracted from your lifepoint.
When Your Opponent's Creature is in Defense Mode:
1) Your Creature's Attack > Your Opponent's Creature's Defense
Your opponent's creature will be destroyed. There is no lifepoint
deducted in this case.
2) Your Creature's Attack = Your Opponent's Craeture's Defense
Neither creature is destroyed. There is no lifepoint deducted in
this case as well.
3) Your Creature's Attack < Your Opponent's Defense
Neither creature is destroyed, but the difference between your
creature's attack and your opponent's defense is subtracted from
your lifepoint.

Booster Packs
===============================================================================
After you win a duel, you will be able to pick one booster pack. In the
beginning you can only pick one of three booster packs, but as you win
more duels and progress through the game you will be able to open more
booster packs.
In each booster pack, 5 cards are included. Sometimes holographic cards
are included. Holographic cards will have their name flashing. Some of
these cards are extremely rare and powerful.

In Duel Monsters 5, there are months and days. After each duel, another
day passes. Every month, there are special events.
Every Tuesday: Weekly Magazine (WJ)
Every Month on the 21st: Monthly Magazine (VJ)
2nd/4th Saturday: Duel Tournament (Card sign)
On the magazines, you receive 5 cards, some which can only be obtained
through these magazines. At the tournament you duel someone best two
out of three times.

Options

In the Options mode you can do many things.
Change Name: Change your duelist name.
Record: Shows your current duel statistics.
Password: On each Original Card Game, there is an 8-digit password. Use
that to get a card. You can only use each password once.
Sound: Change the sound.
Duelist Point: Check out your duelist point.

Starting the Game
===============================================================================
To start a new game, click on new game. If you already have a saved
file on the game it will ask you whether you want to completely delete
your old file or not. If you don't want to, you will not be able to
start a new game. Now after you start a new game, Tea (Anzu) will
introduce herself. You will now make a name for yourself. Use the
directional (+) buttons to scroll and L/R to change category. After
you finish go to OK. Remember you will be able to change your name
later in the game. Now you will pick a deck. A green, Red, or Black.
Choose wisely. They will always be random, but most of the cards will
be the same. Now go into campaign mode and pick a duelist to duel. For
now you have Yugi, Joey, Bakura, Tea, and Tristin to duel.

Chain
===============================================================================
Chain is when you use a trap card to counter the opponent's trap card. Here is
an example of a chain.
Chain 1: Raigeki (Destroy the opponent's creatures out on the field)
Chain 2: Anti-Raigeki (Reflect a Raigeki back to the opponent's creatures)
Chain 3: 7 Tools of the Bandit (Cancel a trap)
If this chain occurs, then the 7 Tools will cancel out the Anti-Raigeki, so
the Raigeki will still be activated, destroying the opponent's creatures.
Chains are used to counter magics and traps that can bring you closer to
defeat.
