+ 1) INTRODUCTION TO THIS GUIDE +
+-------------------------------+
This guide is intended to cover all of the different Unique items which can
be found in The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers. I plan to go in depth with
each one of the items in order that I should be able to help all of you
+--------------------------------+
+ 2) INTRODUCTION TO THE UNIQUES +
+--------------------------------+
Unique items are items which can be found the same way as regular items, but
with a touch - they can only be found once per game. As opposed to regular
items which can be found multiple time, a Kite Shield for example, these are,
well... unique.
-------------------
- Different Terms -
-------------------
Some of the unique items contain terms which apply to the things which they
do. These terms are:
2H: This means either one of two things. If 2H is alone and not followed
by anything, then it means that the weapon must be wielded with two
hands. If it is followed by an amount of damage, then if you use that
weapon with two hands, then it gives you bonus damage.
Experience Gained: Quite simple, this means that it increases the rate at
which experience is gained.
Ice Damage: A magical form of damage which ignores all armor for a hit.
Fire Damage: A magical form of damage which ignores all armor for a hit.
Critical Hit: When an attack hits as a critical hit, it does 2x as much
damage as a regular attack. The % and number in front of the words show
how much more likely you are to score a critical hit.
Weaponmaster: When an attack hits as a critical hit, it does 3x as much
damage as a regular attack.
---------------------------------------------
- The Skills which are affected by Uniques -
---------------------------------------------
Some of the uniques affect different skills of characaters. They are:
Orcslayer- +2 damage to orcs/level
Wisdom- All damaging spells to +1 damage/level
Hawkeye- Increases bow damage +1/level
Resist Ring- Lessens corruption caused by using the Ring 4%/level
Spread Fire- Shoot 2 arrows (+1 / 4 levels) for extra accuracy per level.
9 Spirit
Herb Lore- Heals 25 hit points +5/level. Herbs are more effective. 8 Spirit
+2/level
Flame of Anor- When hit points reach 0, Gandalf has 20% chance of reviving,
+2%/level
Fireworks- A small area effect attack. Does 10 Damage +2/level. 5 Spirit.
+-----------------+
+ 3) UNIQUE ITEMS +
+-----------------+
I will now go into the uniques.
The format will be as follows:
Name of Item - Sale Price: (if known)
Characters who can use this item
What the item does
Analysis of item
My Rating (on a scale of 1-10)
Other Info (if there is any)
------------------------
- Unequippable Uniques -
------------------------
1) Horn of Boromir - Sale Price: 100 gems
- Can be used by: Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf, Frodo, Eowyn, Gimli
- +10% Experience gained
- The Horn of Boromir is in my opinion, an amazing item when you are trying
level up your charcter to level 52. It gives you a pretty nice bonus of
exp. points. For example, if an enemy would give you 100 exp. at a normal
level, with the Horn of Boromir, you would get 110 exp instead. It may
not seem like a lot, but in the end it all adds up and you get a nice exp.
bonus. Especially useful if you find it in the beginning of the game,
because you get your levels increasing quicker.
- Rating: 9 out of 10
- Other Info: In the book it's known as the Horn of Gondor and is blown
when its carrier is in trouble.
2) Ent Water - Cost: 500 gems, Sale Price: 75 gems
- Can be used by: Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf, Frodo, Eowyn, Gimli
- If you are knocked unconcious, Ent Water restores you to life with no
penalty
- Ent Water is one of the most useful items that there is in the game. Due
to its ability to revive you once, it is an essential item to have in your
inventory at all times. You can buy the Ent Water at an Ent Pool for 500
gems. The one downside to this item is the fact that you can only carry 1
of them at a time.
- Rating: 9.5 out of 10
- Other Info: none
3) Sam's Cookpot - Sale Price: 200 gems
- Can be used by: Frodo ONLY
- +2 to Resist Ring
- Sam's Cookpot gives a +2 powerup to Frodo's Passive Skill entitled "Resist
One Ring". This doesn't really provide that much of a bonus because this
Skill takes a lot of points put into it to really work. The time when you
would really need to use this is if you are a Frodo user who uses the
Ring. Otherwise, I suggest that you should sell this item.
- Rating: 7 out of 10
- Other Info: none
4) Evenstar - Sale Price: 500 gems
- Can be used by Aragorn ONLY
- +13 Courage
- In my opinion, the Evenstar is one item which Aragorn should keep in his
backpack at all times. It provides you with an extra 13 spirit points and
an extra 13 hit points (at the same time). This item is essential if you
are playing as Aragorn and use his active skills, due to the fact that
many of them use up a bunch of spirit points. A must have for any Aragorn
user.
- Rating: 9 out of 10
- Other Info: The Evenstar is the item which Arwen gives to Aragorn in the
movie; Evenstar is also Arwen's last name.
5) Phial of Galadriel - Sale Price: 300 gems
- Can be used by Frodo ONLY
- +3 to Resist Ring
- The Phial of Galadriel gives a +2 powerup to Frodo's Passive Skill
entitled "Resist One Ring". See "Sam's Cookpot" (#3) Above for more info.
- Rating: 7.2 out of 10
- Other Info: In the movie and the books, the Phial of Galadriel was the
gift which Galadriel gave to Frodo to be used "when all other lights go
out".
6) Scrolls of Minas Tirith - Sale Price: 250 gems
- Can be used by Gandalf ONLY
- +3 Wisdom
- Keeping this item in your backpack while playing as Gandalf gives you an
extra 3 damage with each spell that you cast, as well as any other
bonuses that are put into this skill. I think that this item can help you
deal a bunch of extra damage to your enemies.
- Rating: 8 out of 10
- Other Info: none
7) Book of Herbs - Sale Price: 200 Gems
- Can be used by Aragorn ONLY
- +3 to Herb Lore
- Herb Lore heals 25 hit points, plus another 5 for each level. Herbs also
get more effective. IMO, this is not such an amazing item to have in your
backpack, due to the extremely high amount of spirit points that it costs
to use this skill. I wouldn't recommend putting more than 3 or 4 points
into this skill, as it becomes more and more expensive.
- Rating: 5 out of 10
- Other Info: none
8) Fletching Kit - Sale Price: 200 gems
- Can be used by Legolas ONLY
- +2 to Spread Fire
- Spread Fire throws two arrows plus another ONE for every FOUR levels. Not
a very good deal in my opinion. The extra +2 from this item doesn't even
provide one more stinkin' arrow. Not a good investment. Sell it ASAP.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 10
- Other Info: none
----------
- Swords -
----------
1) Sting - Sale Price: 500 gems (?)
- Can be used by Frodo, Eowyn (?)
- 4-7 Damage, +5 Orcslayer
- With the damage, not that bad considering it doesn't have a prefix/suffix
to give it some extra umph. Very good if found earlier on in the game. As
for the +5 Orcslayer, that does 10 damage to Orcs on each hit. This
ability is good ONLY in the beginning of the game, due to the fact that as
you get nearer to the end of the game, you don't fight Orcs anymore, you
end up fighting the Uruk-hai, Wargs, and Young Wargs.
- Rating: 7 out of 10
- Other Info: Sting is the name of the blade which Bilbo gave to Frodo while
the two of them were in Rivendell in the beginning of the first book and
movie. The sword was forged by the elves and the Blade glows blue when
Orcs are near (in the book and movie, not in the game).
2) Orcrist - Sale Price: 503 gems
- Can be used by Frodo (?), Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn (?)
- 6-12 Damage, +3 to Uruk-hai, +8 To Orcslayer
- Damage is pretty good once again considering that it doesn't have a prefix
or a suffix. Once again the +8 to Orcslayer which gives 16 damage is only
good at the beginning of the due to the fact that as you get nearer to the
end of the game, you don't fight Orcs anymore, you end up fighting the
Uruk-hai, Wargs, and Young Wargs. And that is where the +3 to Uruk-hai
helps.
- Rating: 8 out of 10
- Other Info: Orcrist is the name of the sword which Thorin Oakenshield
wielded in "The Hobbit". I am pretty sure he got the sword from the cave
of a troll. When Thorin died, the sword was laid on top of him and buried
along with him.
3) Glamdring - Sale Price: 509 gems
- Can be used by Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn (?)
- 6-12 Damage, +3 2H Damage, +5 to Orcslayer
- Damage is pretty good once again considering that it doesn't have a prefix
or a suffix. Once again the +5 to Orcslayer which gives 10 damage is only
good at the beginning of the due to the fact that as you get nearer to the
end of the game, you don't fight Orcs anymore, you end up fighting the
Uruk-hai, Wargs, and Young Wargs.
- Rating: 7 out of 10
- Other Info: Glamdring is the name of the sword which Gandalf found in the
cave belonging to the trolls. Gandalf wielded this sword while fighting
against the Balrog of Morgoth.
4) The Maelstrom Sword - Sale Price: 511 gems
- Can be used by Frodo (?), Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn (?)
- 6-12 Damage, +3 Animal Damage
- The 6-12 Damage is fairly good. The downside to this weapon is the +3
animal damage. This is only good against crebain, wargs, and young wargs.
These animals arent so common in the game as much as orcs, and uruk-hai
so this doesnt help that much.
- Rating: 7.5 out of 10
- Other Info: none
5) The Ruby Kingsword - Sale Price: 507 gems
- Can be used by Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn (?)
- 6-12 Damage, +5 Strength
- The 6-12 Damage is very good for a sword alone with no prefixes/suffixes.
The +5 Strength is a very good addition to this because it gives you an
extra one max damage (at least), It also gives you an extra 5 max. health
points. Very good sword to weild with another one if you are a 2 handed
sword Aragorn user.
- Rating: 8.5 out of 10
- Other Info: none
6) The Emerald Darkblade - Sale Price: 558 gems
- Can be used by Frodo, Aragorn (?), Eowyn (?)
- 6-12 Damage, +5 Courage
- The 6-12 Damage is once again great. The +5 Courge is amazing because it
gives you an extra 5 spirit points as well as an extra 5 hit points.
This weapon has one downside though. I don't think that Aragorn can use
it due to its size.
- Rating: 8 out of 10
- Other Info: none
7) Aldazar's Longsword - Sale Price: 115 gems
- Can be used by Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn (?)
- 4-9 Damage, +2 All Primary Stats
- The 4-9 Damage is only so-so for a sword. You can get swords better than
this one much easier, as this one is a unique. If you have no better
sword, then this one is a good one to use as it also gives you an extra
two attribute points in each of the primary stats.
- Rating: 6 out of 10
- Other Info: Aldazar's Longsword is one of the few items which are green
but are still considered uniques.
8) Warloch Hunter Sword - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn
- 5-11 Damage, +8 2H Damage, +4 Strength
- An amazing weapon to wield in battle. The Warloch Hunter Sword gives you
an amazing amount of damage and it provides you with an extra 4 hit points
and perhaps an extra possible point of damage. If you are playing as
Aragorn, this sword can even give you the extra 8 damage if using Dual
Wield.
- Rating: 9 out of 10
- Other Info: none
9) Devitt Warsword - Sale Price: 50 gems
- Can be used by Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn
- 6-13 Damage, +4 2H Damage
- An amazing sword which deals a staggering maximum of 13 damage to an
enemy. If it is being used by a Dual Wield Aragorn, then it can possibly
do an extra 4 damage.
- Rating: 9 out of 10
- Other Info: Devitt Warsword is another one of the few items which are
green but still considered as uniques. This item is named after one of
of the people in the game credits.
--------
- Bows -
--------
1) The Obisidan Longbow - Sale Price: 512 gems
- Can be used by Legolas ONLY
- 6-12 Damage, +3 Ice Damage
- The Damage this bow can deal is only so-so compared to the other bows,
most probably due to the fact that a Longbow with prefixes and/or
suffixes could out-do this one. The +3 Ice Damage which the Bow can deal
is pretty good because when it hits an enemy, the Ice Damage will go
through the enemy's armor no matter what, so it automatically does an
extra 3 damage.
- Rating: 8.5 out of 10
- Other Info: none
2) The Elf Lord's Bow - Sale Price: 516 gems
- Can be used by Legolas ONLY
- 6-12 Damage, +5 Accuracy
- The Damage is once again only so-so (see #1). On the other hand, if you
are using this as Legolas's bow, it gives your character an extra 5
points into Accuracy, which is an essential skill for any player who uses
a Legolas which shoots. (In other words, not a passive skill Legolas).
Accuracy is very important to any Legolas because the Higher his accuracy
is, the better his bow becomes.
- Rating: 8 out of 10
- Other Info: none
3) Songbow of Ibun - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Legolas ONLY
- 10-20 Damage, +5 Courage
- Dealing 10-20 damage to an enemy with just one arrow is a hefty amount to
inflict. Most of the bows which are not unique cannot do this, making
this a fairly good bow. The additional +5 couragge that this bow provides
is almost always good because if you use your bow and arrows, chances are
that you put a bunch of skill points into Overdraw as well.
- Rating: 9 out of 10
- Other Info: none
4) Maegborion Longbow - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Legolas ONLY
- 7-14 Damage, +10% Critical Hit
- Damage dealt by this bow is actually pretty good. What makes Maegborion
Longbow even better is the +10% ciritical hit which it provides. This can
make each hit from the bow even better, because there is a greater chance
that the bow will deal more damage.
- Rating: 8.5 out of 10
- Other Info: none
5) Elf Shortbow of Kae Vin - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Legolas ONLY
- 5-11 Damage, +2 to Orcs, +4 Accuracy
- Bow deals not the greatest amount of damage, most bows can outdamage (if
that's even a word) this one. The +2 to Orcs is only good towards the
start. The +4 Accuracy is very important to any Legolas user though, as
you should always increase the level of your accuracy before the others.
- Rating: 7 out of 10
- Other Info: The Elf Shortbow of Kae Vin is named after one of the
programmers in the game whose name is Kevin.
----------
- Staffs -
----------
1) Staff of Five Ages - Sale Price: 514 gems
- Can be used by Gandalf ONLY
- 6-12 Damage, +3 2H Damages, +5 Orcslayer
- Damage dealt by the staff is actually pretty good for a staff. One of the
downsides to this staff though is that unlike any of the quarterstaffs,
magestaffs, etc... it doesn't provide any sort of point bonus to wisdom.
I have no clue how Gandalf can have 2H damage, so im assuming that it
means that he gets this bonus if he's not wielding a sword. Once again,
the Orcslayer bonus is only good at the beginning of the game.
- Rating: 8 out of 10
- Other Info: none
2) Magestaff of Ulrick - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Gandalf ONLY
- 3-6 Damage, +30 Stun Time, +2 Fireworks
- This staff provides only a puny 3-6 damage, not even one second of foe
stun time, and the only upside to this staff is the +2 to Fireworks. This
is no reason to keep this staff. My advice is to sell this staff as soon
as you possibly can.
- Rating: 3 out of 10
- Other Info: none
3) Staff of Briley the Scarlet - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Gandalf ONLY
- 3-7 Damage, +4 to Nazgul, +2 Health per Slain Foe
- As explained above with the Magestaff of Ulrick, this staff is not the
best staff to use in the game. One upside to the staff is, well....
nothing. Advice: SELL ASAP!!!
- Rating: 4 out of 10
- Other Info: Griptonite's lead artist for LoTR: TTT is Randy BRILEY. They
gave him his own weapon in the game and made it sound as if one of the 5
wizards in Middle-Earth had the name Briley the Scarlet.
4) Staff of Old Thalcos - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Gandalf ONLY
- 2-4 Damage, +2 to Uruk-Hai, +2 Spell Damage
- 2-4 Damage, I mean, come on, how much more pathetic can a weapon actually
get. It's really sad what these people come up with. +2 to Uruk-Hai with
a weapon that does 4 damage at the maximum is not exactly the greatest
enhancement. And the +2 spell damage, can just be used with a passive
skill instead. Sell quickly.
- Rating: 4 out of 10
- Other Info: If you vist the LOTR:TTT messageboards, you may see a guy
named thalcos. This guy is the one who this weapon is named for.
--------
- Axes -
--------
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS CAN ONLY, I REPEAT ONLY BE USED IN A MULTIPLAYER GAME.
1) Axe of the Silver Dwarf - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Gimli ONLY
- 7-13 Damage, Weaponmaster
- After many (well actually 3) horrible items, we finally come to an item
which is good. The Axe of the Silver Dwarf is the only known weapon in
the game which has the title of "weaponmaster". This title makes the item
much better because not only can it do a maximum of 13 damage normally,
but if you score a critical hit, the damage can go up to 39 in one shot.
That's pretty good if you ask me.
- Rating: 9 out of 10
- Other Info: This weapon works extremely well if you have another item that
you are wearing which increases the chance that your character will score
a critical hit.
2) Barkash's Great Axe of Maiming - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Gimli ONLY
- 10-20 Damage, 2H, +3 to Orcs, +10% Critical Hit
- HOLY MOTHER OF PORK CHOPS, THIS IS ONE HECK OF A WEAPON. I mean, Let's
look at this weapon one step at a time:
A) It's base damage ranges anywhere from 10-20 Damage on a normal hit.
that's one heck of a lot of damage for something withouth a prefix or
suffix. And it can even double on a critical hit. WOW!!!
B) This weapon has to be yielded with 2 Hands. No wonder why, it's so
amazing. This might be the only downside to this weapon. (I stress the
word MIGHT).
C) +3 to Orcs is only good when you are fighting, well ORCS (duh). This
provides some more extra damage.
D) The increase in the chance that there will be a criticl hit is crucial
to this weapon as it has a large base damage which increases when you
score a critical hit.
- Rating: 11 out of 10!!!! (wait, is that possible)???
- Other Info: If only this weapon included the title of "weaponmaster". I
can't even begin to imagine how amazing this would be.
3) Bovine Butcher Axe - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Gimli ONLY
- 6-12 Damage, +4 Accuracy, +3 Hit Points
- Damage for this Axe is pretty good. The +4 Accuracy bonus is not the worst
thing in the world but they definitely could have given the item a better
bonus. And look at the end of this. It gives 3 Hit Points. How Amazing is
that. An extra 3 hit points!!!!!! (with a bit of sarcasm there).
- Rating: 8 out of 10
- Other Info: none
4) Bretinz Dwarven Tool Axe - Sale Price: ???
- Can be use by Gimli ONLY
- 6-13 Damage, +2 to Orcs, +2 Defense
- Alrighty, Damage - good, +2 Orcs - bad, +2 Defense, OK
- Rating: 7 out of 10
- Other Info: Named after one of the programmers in the game.
---------
- Armor -
---------
1) Chainmail of Sorinor - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Frodo, Aragorn, Legolas, Eowyn, Gandalf, Gimli
- +10 Melee Armor, +3 Missile Armor, +3 Defense
- It has good defense for Melee but its defense against Missile is horrible
and the Defense boost which this item provides is just nothing short of
revolting.
- Rating: 7 out of 10
- Other Info: I think this item was named after one of the programmers of
the game.
2) Ironmail of Meijin - Sale Price: ???
- Can be used by Frodo, Gandalf, Eowyn, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli
