1) Introduction.
The purpose of this guide is a general description of the menus in G Generation
Advance. I do not claim to know Japanese. These descriptions are based on what
I believe the function is. Any titles are what I am deciding to call them, and
may not be what the actual title is. If you feel like I just HAVE to have the
accurate title names, just send them to me at the above E-Mail, with G Gen
Advance Menu Guide (or some variant) in the subject.

2) Title Menu
The Title Menu is composed of 3 options. These are New Game, Load, and [Unknown]
New Game
Starts a new game.
Load
Load opens another set of options. The first is Load Saved, and the second is
Load Quicksaved.
Load Saved
Loads the saved game. Press A to bring up the confirm dialog. Press up than
A to confirm, A to cancel. Press B to return to the Title Menu.
Load Quicksaved
Loads the last Quicksave.

I don't know. It's unaccessable to me.

3) Intermission Menu.
The Intermission menu is composed of 3 main submenus. The Mission Menu is the
one with the image of a single Battleship over an arrow, with a circle off to
the side at the top, above all the menu options. This is typically the menu
you first see when entering the Intermission Menu. The Battleship Menu is the
one with the 3 Battleships at the top. The Mech Menu is the one with the
silhouette of a Gundam, with lines going to parts, and item images at the end
of the lines. These are how I will be refering to the 3 submenus.
3a) Mission Menu.
The Mission Menu is comprised of 5 submenus. They are, in order from top to
bottom:
- Mission Briefing.
- Practice
- Deploy
- Save
- Load
The description of these submenus is as follows.
Mission Briefing
In this menu, you are briefed on the current situation. While this is in
Japanese, you may understand the images if you've seen the series the mission
is based on. But if you don't understand Japanese, do not expect this menu
to be overly helpful.
Practice
In this menu, your Battleships will deploy with their current loadout to
partake in a practice mission against some AI foes. This is a good opportunity
for some extra EXP, PP (money), and captures. The units in the Practice are
typically only units you can build, however. When you select this option it
will display your current battleship loadout. If you agree with it, press A to
enter the Practice. Press B to cancel out.
Deploy
Selecting this option will begin the next mission. It will first display a
screen showing your current Battleship loadout. If you agree to it, press A
to enter the mission. Otherwise press B to cancel back to the Mission Menu.
Save
Saves the game. Press A to bring up the confirm dialog. Press up then A to
confirm, press A to cancel. Press B to return to the Mission Menu. There can
only be one save game.
Load
Loads the saved game. Press A to bring up the confirm dialog. Press up then
A to confirm, press A to cancel. Press B to return to the Mission Menu.
3b) Battleship Menu
The Battleship Menu is composed of 5 submenus. They are, in order from top
to bottom:
- Battleship Loadout
- Buy Mechs
- Pilot/Mech Status
- Save
- Load
The descriptions of these submenus is as follows.
Battleship Loadout
You are first shown your current Battleships and their loadouts. Selecting
an empty space or a loaded unit will bring up a submenu. The optinons listed
are:
- Deploy Mech
- Remove Mech
- Move Mech
- [Unknown]
Deploy Mech
Selecting this will first bring up a list of available Pilots. After
selecting one with A, you are shown a list of available Mechs. Mechs with a
blue name already have a pilot, and ones with red names cannot be piloted by
this Pilot. If you select a mech which already has a Pilot, the Pilots will
swap. If you got to this menu by selecting a mech on the Deploy screen, the
default options will be the current Pilot and Mech. If it was blank, then it
will default to the first Pilot and Mech in the hanger. An L symbol means
the unit is Large (cannot Scatter, and cannot be in Squads), a P before the
name means the Mech has been upgraded, N means it is Newtype only (Pilots
with an N symbol under their picture), and C means Coordinator only (Pilots
with a C symbol under their picture). The funny symbol which looks like
arrows means either special equipment, or Phase Shift Armour. As of this
writing, I only have one unit with that symbol, so I cannot be certain.
Remove Mech
Selecting this will remove the currently selected Mech from the Battleship
loadout.
Move Mech
Selecting this option will allow you to swap Mechs between the Battleships.
After selecting this, choose another Mech to swap them.
Buy Mechs
Selecting this brings up 2 options. The first allows you to purchase Mechs.
The list of available purchases are, so far, story dependant. As the game
progresses, more Mechs will be available for purchase here. Also, any Mechs
with blue names are Mechs which got destroyed in a prior mission. The number
at the end is the cost to purchase or repair the mech. When you've paid the
repair cost for a destroyed mech, it will disappear from the menu. Purchase
Mechs will not disappear. The number under the Mech image off to the side
is he number of this model you currently own. The 2 numbers at the bottom
are your current Funds and the total number of units you currently have.
The second option is to Sell any of your Mechs. Any mech in red is
unsellable.
Pilot/Mech Status
You are presented with 3 options when you select this submenu. They are:
- List by Pilot
- List by Mech

List by Pilot and List by Mech are essentially the same, except List by Pilot
lets you choose by Pilot (and lets you look at stats for Pilots not in a Mech)
and List by Mech lets you choose by Mech (and lets you look at stats for
unpiloted Mechs) After selecting one, you will be prompted to select a
pilot/Mech. Once you do so, you will be presented with a screen showing Pilot
stats. From top left to bottom right, they are:
- Mech Image
- Pilot Image
- Name
- Level
- Name of Mech
- [Stat1]
- Special Ability
- Current/Max SP
- [Stat2]
- Current EXP
- [Stat3]
- EXP for next level
- IDs known
By pressing right, you are shown another screen which has Mech data. The fields
are, from top left to bottom right:
- Mech Image
- Pilot Image
- Mech Name
- Pilot Name
- Pilot Level
- [Stat1]
- [Stat2]
- [Some symbol]
- Current/Max HP
- [Stat3]
- [Stat4]
- [Another symbol]
- Current ID effects [From top to bottom: Damage multiplier, hit modifier,
dodge modifier]
- Special Equipment
By pressing right from this screen (or left from the first), the bottom half is
replaced with a listing of this Mechs weapons. The fields go, from left to
right:
- Type (B is Beam, [Symbol] is normal, and ! is special)
- Name
- Damage and # of hits
- Accuracy modifier
- Ammo
- Short, medium, or long range
Save
Saves the game. Press A to bring up the confirm dialog. Press up then A to
confirm, press A to cancel. Press B to return to the Mission Menu. There can
only be one save game.
Load
Loads the saved game. Press A to bring up the confirm dialog. Press up then A
to confirm, press A to cancel. Press B to return to the Mission Menu.
3c) Mech Menu
The Mech Menu is composed of 5 submenus. They are, in order from top to bottom:
- Build Mech
- Strip Mech
- Build List
- Save
- Load
The description of these submenus is as follows.
Build Mech.
After selecting this, you are presented with 2 options. They are:
- Build Mech
- Upgrade Mech
Build Mech
Choose an available mech. You will be taken to another menu where you will
choose what item to use to change the selected Mech. Once you choose the item,
the Mech will change into it's new form.
Upgrade Mech
Choose an available Mech. Mechs with red names cost more to upgrade than you
have Funds. Once selected, to will be asked to confirm. Press up then A to
confirm, or just A to cancel. When upgraded, the Mech will disappear from this
screen, and gain the P tag.
Strip Mech
This brings up a list of Mechs on the left side, and what that Mech will be
stripped into on the right. If the large box under the Mech image is blank,
then this mech will be totally trashed, and you'll only get the upgrade item. If
there is a Mech image there, this mech will turn into that one when stripped.
Press A to select a mech. You will be prompted to confirm. Press up then A to
confirm, or just A to cancel.
Build List
This menu shows all Build combinations you know of. The Mech image at the top is
what the Mech under it will become if you add the shown item in the Build Mech
menu. Pressing A on a Mech in this list will bring up it's stat screen, which
is the same as the one above.

4) Battle Menu
There are many different options which may or may not appear based on situations
or equipment. I will give a general description for each.
A Mech's basic pre-move menu consists of:
- Move
- Re-arrange Squad (if in a squad)
- Attack (if next to enemy)
- Long Range Attack (if the mech or squad has a long range weapon)
- Talk (if next to a talkable enemy)
- ID
- Capture (if next to a capturable enemy, and the conditions are met)
A Battleship's basic pre-move menu consists of:
- Move
- Attack (if next to an enemy)
- Deploy
- Long Range Attack
- ID
The after move menu for both is:
- Attack (if next to enemy)
- Talk (if next to talkable enemy)
- Capture (if next to a capturable enemy, and the conditions are met)
- Wait
The descriptions for these are as follows.
Move
If this is a lone unit, it will show the range at which this unit can move.
Select the destination, and the unit will move there and open the after move menu.
Press B on that menu to cancel the move and return to the original location. If
this is a Squad, there is a second option which allows you to break up a squad,
or rearrange it.
Attack
Attack an enemy which is next to this unit. The description of the attack menu
will be explained later.
Rearrange Squad
Allows you to rearrange the squad.
Talk
Talk to a nearby unit. This can result in getting new pilots, mechs, or Event
EXP. Not everyone can be talked to.
ID
Use a map ID. IDs are phrases the pilot yells (or doesn't, in the same of some
IDs) which boosts his or his squadmate's abilities. Some are map use only, and
some are attack menu use only.
Capture
Attempts to capture a unit. To capture a unit, there must be at least 3 solo units
and/or squads around it. The chance of capturing the unit goes up as it gets
damaged, or is surrounded further. Not all units can be captured. A failed capture
will damage the Mech(s) attempting the capture, and does damage past Special
Equipment (like Phase Shift Armour).
Long Range Attack
If the unit has a long range weapon, they can chance an attack at an opponent
unit/squad in range. This attack might deal damage, but will most likely just make
the target Scatter, which will break up squads or force single units into an
adjecent square. Battleship or Large units can only try to Dodge the attack.
Wait
Stops actions for this unit.
Pressing B on a unit or squad will bring up a quick status screen. Press left/right
to change between units in the squad, and press A to go to the Mech status screen.
If you attack, or get attacked, the Attack Menu will display. It is as follows:
If you were attacked, it will first show the attackers and the weapons used. This
display is made up of (from left to right):
- Type
- Name
- Damage and # of possible attacks
- Accuracy
If you wern't attacked, this screen is blank.
Press A to acknowledge. You will then choose the first unit in the squad's attack.
The display goes, from top to bottom:
- Pilot name
- Attacks shown as:
- Type
- Name
- Damage and # of possible attacks
- Accuracy
- Ammo
- Close or Medium range
- Dodge
- Battle ID
- Mech name
After selecting all attacks for the squad, you are asked to confirm. Press A to
accept, or down then A to return to the previous unit. Press B to return to the
previous unit. The battle will then commence.
If you press A on an unoccupied square, another menu will appear. The options on
it are, from top to bottom:
- End Turn
- Save
- Map
- Deployed Unit List
- Options
The description is as follows.
End Turn
This brings up 2 options. The first option ends your turn. The second seems to
only cancel the decision and return you to the previous menu.
Save
The current mission will be Quicksaved, and you will be returned to the Title Menu.
Map
This shows a map of the current mission, with locations of all units and squads. The
Sidebar shows the current turn # and all the Battleships and MS currently fielded,
even if they're not launched from their Battleship. Underneath the map is the mission
objectives.
Deployed Unit List
This shows a list of all units fielded, organized by Battleship, even if not launched
from their Battleship. Press Left or Right to move between Battleships. Press A on a
unit to move the cursor immedieatly to it.
Options
This brings up a list of 3 options. They are:
- [Unknown]
- [Unknown2]
- Text speed
A or Left/Right changes between settings. B returns to the map.

5) Conclusion
The purpose of this guide was to provide a basic understanding of the menus found in
SD Gundam G Generation Advance. This guide is not the "be all and end all". There is
ommissions, and probably a few errors. Comments and suggestions can be sent to the
