[INTRODU] Introduction
------------------------------------------------------------------
If you haven't already figured it out, this isn't quite an FAQ so
much as it is a field guide, something to help you all around
whilst you play Robopon 2: Cross Version. It will mainly cover how
to obtain certain Robopon, which one's are stronger, which ones
gain experience faster, et cetera. So sit back, relax, and take a
load off while you read/skim through this lengthy and enlightening
field guide of epic proportions.
NOTE: This field guide is solely for Cross version. If someone has
Ring version and would like to supply me with the version
differences, I would be happy to accommodate.
------------------------------------------------------------------
[ZOMGWHT] What is Robopon?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Robopon, in a sense, is a knock-off duplication of Pokemon. Well,
it WAS. Now it's sort of a hodge-podge of games combined. Anyway,
I would categorize this game as an open-ended 2D RPG with
Pokemon-esque characteristics.
Alright, on to business. There are three types of Robopon in this
game. Each type has a series of types and classes
as follows:
~Arm~
---------------
Arm type are a basic type that requires parts and software to
reach their full potential. They make up the majority of the
game's population of Robopon, and host the largest pool of
classes.
Punch: The basic class of the Arm type. It normally has an even
number of points in Attack and Defence, while lacking slightly in
Force and Will. Their speed is not the greatest, but acceptable.
Simply put, they can be considered a basic Hybrid class in terms
of RPGs.
Fighter: This type tends to have increasingly high Attack and
particularly low stats in all other categories. They are good for
dealing physical damage, but not good for much else, which makes
them remarkably similar to the Final Fantasy Fighter class.
Knight: This type has dynamically high Defence and HP, but lacks
in all other aspects. They are good for taking damage, but not
much else.
Healer and Sorcerer: These two classes are best suited for
software use. They tend to have high Force, Will, and EP. In terms
of damage, Sorcerers excel whereas Healers excel in the use of
restorative software.
Devil, Gunner, and Thief: Out of all of the Arm classes, these
three are minimally exceptional. Their stats are not quite
impressive. The only thing that brings light to them is their sets
of unique skills, such as Steal.
~Move~
--------------
Move type tend to take up the reins when it comes to speed. Not
only are they the fast, but most have increased evasiveness, which
could make them a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, they
require the most powerful available parts to even look remotely
powerful. Aside from Speed, most of their stats are very low.
Note that when added as a member of your team, your chances of
being "Surprise Attacked" are severely diminished, and your chances
of catching your enemy off guard increases.
The three classes of Move type are Land, Sky, and Sea. Each are
very similar, with only one basic difference, which would be parts.
Each class requires a part designed specifically for their class.
~Boot~
-------------
Boot type make up the second largest part of the Robopon
population. Each one is quite unique. They all share a few basic
characteristics, however. No Boot type can equip parts or software,
and most of them tend to have low speed. They make up for this
with some of the highest stats and HP in the game. There are four
classes of Boot, which have little differences, aside from name.
The Animal class sports a variety of animalistic Robopon, such as
snakes, elephants, and tigers. The Human class sports humanoid
Robopon. The Monster class makes home for a series of Robopon that
aren't quite animals, but aren't much of anything else, either.
And finally there are that of the Material class, which do not fit
into the other three classes.
------------------------------------------------------------------
[WLKTHRU] Walkthrough
------------------------------------------------------------------
The game starts with a terrible introductory sequence, which is
optional, so I'm going to skip on, just as you would if you
decided not to watch the opening scene.
Baba Village, Present
You wake up in the bed of a room of a building, with a strange guy
with a metal-looking face breathing down your neck. He asks you
your name, which default is Cody, and your birthday, which has
some sort of affect on which Robopon you receive from someone
not too later in the game. Anyway, he then realizes who you are,
explains that you're here for the Majiko Robopon tournament...
thing. Once you finally gain control, head outside. Directly to
the left is a house, enter it to find a bunch of kids and a guy
named Nick D. There is a chest in here, in the bottom right
containing an IonPunch. In the top left corner is a room, and a
dresser. Press A in from of the dresser to find an AtkMem. Now
talk to the guy in the middle named Nick D, and choose the third
option, which is about the cave behind the house. He'll tell you
it's under lock and key so the childrens don't go in there. Now
head to the top right room and talk to the orange-headed kid. He
will say that there's a battery in the cave, and trigger Nick D.
to change his dialogue. Ask Nick D. about the cave again and he'll
fork over the key. Head for the cave.
Baba Cave I, Present
As move up, you'll notice a treasure chest. Ignore it and continue
forward. There's a hidden passageway located where some rocks
meet the wall of the cave. Walk through it to obtain a SUN
battery from the chest. Now, walk back to the chest you saw before.
In the left one is a Can-Ball, which is a part for Move Robopon.
In the right chest is a MOON battery. That's all that's here, so
head out. South of this cave is another cave.
Baba Cave II, Present
There's a Kerosene in here. Leave once you have obtained it.
Baba Village, Present
Head to the bottom-rightmost house in the village. Inside are
seven Robopon and a man named Hoffman. Talk to him to obtain a
battery folder. If you want to, you can talk to the Robopon for
useful tidbits that are rather self explanatory. Head out to the
house to the left of this one. Inside is a dog that has an ION
battery... which it will give you. At this point you have enough
batteries to "spark" a Robopon.
Now, at this point I suggest you save your game. Should you want
information on the starter robopon, please see the "Special
Robopon" section and look under "Starter Robopon". For the
remainder of this walkthrough, assume that I started with
SunZero.
Now, head out and fight the guards, regardless of which one you
fight first, you'll need to fight them both. Anyway, the guard on
the left has a level 2 Kinchop and the guard to the right has two
level 1 Silky. These will be two of the easiest fights in
the game, so head out of town (to the left).
Map of Majiko, Present
By now you should have noticed two things: A star and a bunch of
question marks. Question marks represent locations you cannot go
to yet and blinking stars represent NEWLY opened locations. Now,
head for the only other opened area, Hindo Town.
Hindo Town, Present
Upon entering this town, there are two things you should note.
One: There are A LOT of clowns in this game. Seriously, they make
up like 26% of the population of Majiko. It's weird. Secondly,
in about fifteen minutes, you'll be standing on Ground Zero.
Head toward the Merry-Go-Round in the middle of town. Apparently
these people like to have too much fun. Walk to the back of it,
and all the way to the left to find an ICE1. If you did not
choose Hexbot, equip this to your Robopon. Otherwise, hold on to
it for safekeeping. Now, head back to the front and talk to the
man in front of the Merry-Go-Round. His name is Bisco, and he'll
make fun of you because you had the audacity to leave your old
Robopon in Porombo. He'll mention Lisa, who is sort of the
protagonist's girlfriend. Since her appearances add little to
the story, it's best not to dwell on the subject.
Your next destination is the building to the left of the
Merry-Go-Round. In there is a blonde girl whom you are required to
battle to continue on any farther than this. She has two Skeeto,
which move fast, but have no power to speak of. Dispense with her
and head for the building to the left of this one. In there is yet
another woman you are required to fight. Once you have taken care
of both of these ladies, head toward the building just south of
the tent. Talk to the man to find out that Maskman not only has
poor grammar, but he intends to destroy the town you just
entered.
Head to the tent to the north. Inside will be a fortune teller.
After talking to her and agreeing to have your fortune told to
you, she will give you a Robopon to aid you in your journey. What
kind of Robopon you receive is dependant on what date you set for
your birthday (See "Birthday Robopon"). Once she has completed in
telling you that the world was in peril, head outside for an
interesting cutscene involving your newest enemy, Maskman.
Apparently Maskman is the lost son of Pecos Bill, and knows how
to ride a tornado. Once he has stricken down the town with
exploding flame balls of gimmicky doom, head toward the
southermost remains of a building where what seems to be two
Pokeballs sitting out, and take the StunGun and the HYPER Battery
from them. Since nothing is left, head out of town.
Map of Majiko, Present
You now have three more options to choose from: Downtown Delica,
Hoffman Tower, and Pharo Ruins. Hoffman Tower is entirely optional
and remains so for the entirety of the game (See Side Quests and
Extras) Right now your best bet would be to head to Downtown Delica
for some minor Robopon Battles.
Downtown Delica, Present
When you first enter the small city, head directly south. Head for
left building and check the glass casing to find a ShldMem. Head
to the building three doors to the right. North of it is a woman
purple hair who's rearing to battle. Fight her to receive a
SUPER battery, then head due south to the building with the
floating blade in front of it. Fight the guard, and proceed to the
building two doors to the left. Fight the kid for another HYPER
battery. Since nothing else remains in this city, head for Pharo
Ruins.
Pharo Ruins, Present
Head directly to the northeasternmost corner of the ruins, where
you will find a door, enter and head directly north to the second
floor. Walk all the way around to the center of the room and climb
the left staircase. In the chest is a HYPER battery. Backtrack and
proceed up the right staircase. Follow the pathway to find Nick D.
looking for the XStone7, which is the driving force for the
tournament in Majiko. For the remainder of the game, your main
task will be to locate the XStones and challenge the title
holders. Anyway, continue down the pathway, past the staircase to
the chest containing FIRE1, proceed up the staircase to your left.
Fight the strange man with a shopping bag and a briefcase for a
CURE1. Backtrack to the room with the two staircases and exit the
door to the south, where Bisco is standing. Outside you will see a
chest, which contains a NORMAL battery.
To be continued.....

[EXTRAGD] Side Quests and Extras
------------------------------------------------------------------
This section holds information about side quests and extra
locations. The locations of each optional location is listed in
order of availability.
-------------------
Hoffman Tower
-------------------
Hoffman Tower is not only the largest side quest in the game, but
it is also the only one that you will have to bank into for the
entirety of the game to complete. For some reason, as you create
new Robopon and fill Hoffman's Storage Service, the tower grows.
In other words, the more Robopon you have had in storage, the
more floors you have access to. More details as to the mechanics
of the tower will be added later.
The amount of floors is dependant on your Robopon count, which
can be viewed under the Data section when accessing the start
menu.
First Floor: (Requires Hindo Town to be destroyed)
This floor holds Hoffman, who can store Robopon for you, as well
as what are known as the 4Tune fiends, who explain assorted
minigames to you.
Second Floor:

[SPCRBPN] Special Robopon
------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------
Starter Robopon
-------------------
Now, like any other Pokemon rip-off, there are three possible
starters, which one you
obtain depends on which batteries you spark together.
Cross Version
---
ION + MOON = SunZero
SunZero is universally accepted as the ideal starter for this
game. His stat growth is decent, and he looks nice. I suggest him
for first-time players.
SUN + ION = Hexbot
Hexbot is a Boot type with good stat growth. He cannot equip any
parts or software, so I would place him mid-range in terms of
game difficulty.
MOON + SUN = Scooter
If you're one for a challenge, go with Scooter. He's a Move type,
so his stats are horrible unless you maintain his parts and
constantly replace them with better parts.
Ring Version
---
ION + MOON = Sunny
Sunny is a basic Arm Type, ideal for first-time players and those
who want a quick game.
SUN + ION = Draco
Draco is a Boot Type with AMAZING stats. He is great for players
who wish for a slight challenge.
MOON + ION = Rider1
Rider1 is much like Scooter, and should not be chosen unless you
really want a challenge.
-------------------
Birthday Robopon
-------------------
According to my research, what Robopon you obtain in Hindo Town is
entirely dependent on what date you enter for your birthday. For
example, should you input July 18th as your birthday, you would
obtain a GigaPon. If I remember correctly, there are two other
possibilities: Train and Crysty. Now, it really doesn't matter
what you input as your birthday, because all of these Robopon will
we available through the regular sparking process later.
-------------------
"Jasper" Robopon
-------------------
Quite late in the game, you become able to enter a location called
Marvel Lab. Now, outside of this lab is a small dog named Jasper
that will allow for a password to be inputed. When certain codes
are used, Jasper gives away Robopon. The known passwords are as
follows:
D - Icarun
H - B-Cell
J - Gundarn
L - Under
La - X Dog
P - Fencer
R - Sherry
Rvnge - Dorapon
S - Flicker
9 - NegaPon
The Robopon that can be obtained from Jasper can only be obtained
once, and are all very powerful.
-------------------
Fossils
-------------------
Throughout Majiko are several "statue"-like Robopon scattered
about. These are actually fossilized Robopon, which can be revived
if you have the spirit Takako following you. NOTE: She can only
revive them if you have an open space in your team. The locations
of the fossils are as follows:
Cross Version
---
Hexbot - Delica Tunnel (Past)
Scooter - Lover's Cliff (Present)
Platnum - Nenji Circus (Past)
Bulbot - Baba Village (Present)
Bulbot - Pond Garden (Past)
Bulbot - Town of Walda (Past)
Ring Version
---
Draco - Delica Tunnel (Past)
Rider1 - Lover's Cliff (Present)
Platnum - Nenji Circus (Past)
Gear - Baba Village (Present)
Gear - Pond Garden (Past)
Gear - Town of Walda (Past)
-------------------
The Sumito Line
-------------------
I for the life of me, cannot come up with a logical way to explain
this. Well, here I go.
For some reason, ATLUS decided to implement a Robopon with two
possible enhancements. This Robopon would be called Sumo. Should
you enhance him at level 23, he retires and becomes Chef-Fe.
However, should you wait until level 30 to enhance him, he
continues his carreer as a sumo wrestler and becomes Yokomo. It
really doesn't matter when you enhance him, as Yokomo is not much
better than Chef-Fe.
-------------------
Spark Failure
-------------------
From time to time, as you spark, you will create a Gear (Cross),
or a Bulbot (Ring). This is called spark failure. Gears and
Bulbots are quite literally the worst Robopon in the game.
------------------------------------------------------------------
[ROBODEX] Robopon-Dex
------------------------------------------------------------------
Since I do not have a copy of Ring Version, all Link Spark
exclusive and Ring exclusive Robopon have been omitted from the
list. If you have the data on them, and would like to share it
with me, please email me at

[TIPNTRX] Tips, Tricks, and Stuff
------------------------------------------------------------------
Here I will place that "need to know" information.
~Infinite Mushrooms~
For some reason, when you pick a mushroom, it doesn't respawn on
the overworld when you leave the area. It's simple really. You
see, the game recognizes the mushroom in your items section, and
therefore decides to omit that wonderful mushroom from access. How
Does one combat this, you ask? Just transfer the mushroom to your
Warehouse (W.H.)! The coding is not set to look for mushrooms in
there, which allows you to have several mushrooms at the same
time! Great, eh?
~The Weakest Link~
It's true, Gear and Bulbot are the two weakest Robopon in the
game. People are constantly asking, "How far can one go through
the game using only Gears/Bulbots?" Well, my friends, it's quite
simple. Both Bulbot and Gear have the EXACT same stat growth. The
maximum strength that they can arrive to is just enough to give
them a fighting chance in Nenji Valley. Don't believe me? Try it
out for yourself.
~With a Little Effort~
There are two things you should note right away. One: All Robopon
have fixed growths. Two: When a Robopon enhances, their level
decreases by 50% and their stats decrease by 33%. Now, when a
Robopon enhances on an odd level, the coding is set to round down
its level. For example: When Scooter is enhanced at level 31, a
level 15 Boarder is the outcome. Now, this brings the question,
when should you enhance? That's easy! At the nearest odd level
after it is ready to enhance. When doing so, your Robopon is given
and extra level of stats, making it slightly stronger than its
normal self. NOTE: If your Robopon is supposed to level up on an
odd level, let it level up, because you'll only be taking away
stat points if you don't.
~Personal Recommendations~
