3: Overview
===============================================================================
[030]
First there was Red and Blue, and their cousin Yellow. Then after a while we
were blessed with Gold and Silver, soon after their cousin Crystal. Then came
the GameBoy Advance, and the masses clamored for a new pokemon game. This wish
was granted in the form of Pokemon Ruby and Saphire. But, Alas, they had no
cousin. But, even though they had no cousin, everybody knew there was one in
the oven. Some whined about Nintendo making too many pokemon games, but then
again they whined about pretty much everything.
So yeah, in here I have pretty much all you'll need to "master" Pokemon Emerald
as well as be able to play the other versions with ease. If you are new to
Pokemon, skip down to the type chart here:[T1.1] and study it. Trust me, it
will help you a lot. Don't try to memorize the moves as the only thing that
will do that is practice. If you feel like just leaping into the walkthrough,
head here:[070] and you can get right down to the nitty-gritty!
Have fun!
===============================================================================
4: Characters
===============================================================================
[040]
You:
You can choose your gender in this game, something that I suppose doesn't make
a whole lot of difference. our rival will be the gender you didn't choose, so
I suppose one might care about that. You can be Brendan or May, I believe, if
the names havn't been changed, but like I said, I don't know almost any
Japanese.
Professor Birch:
Hes's the kind old dude who forget's your name and gives you your starter
Pokemon in this game! Eventually you will save him from a Poochyena and he will
feel soo grateful he'll give you the pokemon you used to do it!
The rest of the characters coming once it comes out in the U.S. and I have a
copy in my native language.

7: Walkthrough
===============================================================================
[070]
Here you will find the walkthrough for the RPG mode of the game.
NOTE: It is impossible for me to predict which pokemon you will use, how they
will level up, or what moves you will or will not let them learn so it is near
impossible for me to write a guide perfectly telling you what moves and pokemon
to use where. That is up to you to do if you do not have the same moves as I
have mentioned. That is only there to give you an idea of what to use. Also, I
attempt not to spoil the plot too much but this is, after all, a walkthrough
for the game. Don't read if you aren't prepared for spoilers. I will try to be
as vague on plot details as possible without compromising the quality of the
walkthrough. For instance, I will say "Talk to the guy in front of you and he
will say some stuff." Rather than "Finally! the main villan of the game! Talk
to him and he will tell you in a cutscene about how he is going to take over
the world using weapon x!" I will only refer to a character by name if it won't
spoil the plot, or if you already are familiar with the character.
=====================
Game start!
[W1.0]
=====================
Okee-dokee, let's get started! For the purposes of this walkthrough we will be
male and have a female rival. You will be prompted to enter your name so do so.
When the game starts you will be inside a moving van. It will soon stop and
you will be able to exit. Do so and your mom will come and usher you inside.
You will have to go up and set the clock in your room, so do so. Once it's set
she will come up and talk to you. Head downstairs and your mom will hurridly
call you over to see the TV, but it will end as you get there.
Head out and to the house across from you, and your rival's mom will talk to
you after which you should head up the nearby stairs. Touch the pokeball to
trigger an event with your rival, and she will get on the computer. Head down
the stairs and outside and then head Up. As you exit an event will trigger, and
Professor Birch will be chased around by a Poochyena. Run up and inspect his
satchel to get your choice of starter pokemon.
The pokeball on the left contains Treeco, the Grass type starter. The pokeball
in the middle contains Torchic, the Fire type starter. Lastly, the pokeball on
the right contains Mudkip, the water type starter. You can really choose which-
ever one you want, but here is a list to help you choose.
Treeco/Grass:
Pros:
- It is very strong against the first few gyms.
- Highest speed of the three.
- It's 3rd level evolution learns False Swipe, a very handy move for catching
pokemon.
Cons:
- Grass type is weaker in the elete four and later gyms than the other types.
- Not many powerful moves.
Torchic/Fire:
Pros:
- Best, and only, fire type pokemon you will see for a while in this game.
- Great attack, special attack, and decent speed.
- Good moves.
Cons:
- Weak in first few gyms.
- Takes a while to learn best moves.
Mudkip/Water-Ground:
Pros:
- Excellent type combination
- Higher HP than the other starters
- Great moves.
- Stronger in first gyms.
Cons:
- Quadruple weak against grass, a very common type starting out.
- Takes a while to learn great moves.
Here is an overview of the starters, their stats, moves, TM compatabilities,
and such.

As that stands, I shall pick Mudkip. You don't have to though, choose whichever
one you want, but the closer you stick to what I have, the easier it will be to
follow my walkthrough.
Okay, now that you have your starter, you will be thrust into battle with the
rabid Zigzagoon.

____________________|
You only have one attack, Tackle, so spam it till Zigzagoon dies.
After the battle is over, an event will occur with you and Professor Birch. You
will be taken back to his lab and given the pokemon you picked, and allowed to
name it. After naming it, head out. Head up to the top into Route 101. Head
through the grass, making sure you battle enough enemies to level up once and
get the move "Mud Slap." It shouldn't take more than one or two battles.
Head up until you reach Oldale town and talk to the person in the apron to
trigger a short event where the person will explain about shops and will give
you a free potion. Head up some more, out of town to Route 103. Head up until
you find your Rival and talk to her to trigger a battle.

Now, you are outclassed in this battle, but that doesn't mean you will lose by
any stretch. Use Mud Slap about three times to lower Treeco's accuracy, and
then pound on it with Tackle until it goes down. It shouldn't cause you too
much damage as it will usually miss you.
After the battle is over your rival will depart South. Follow her and heal at
the pokemon center and save. Head South to Littleroot town and enter the lab
of Professor Birch. After some talking happens, Birch will give you the Pokedex
and your rival will give you five pokeballs! Sweet!
Key item obtained: Pokedex!
Head North again, towards Route 101 and yourMom will stop you. She will give
you some running shoes. To use these, hold B while moving, and your character
will move at a very rapid rate. Head north to Oldale and stock up with potions
and pokeballs and head West to Route 103. Pick the berries on your way to
Petalburg City, and try to catch a Lotad - a good grass type - and a Zigzagoon
on your way there. Your sigzagoon can randomly find berries, TMs, and other
items after battle!
Welcome to Petalburg! Save and use the PokeCenter and then head to the Local
gym and talk to your dad. You will talk for a bit and then Wally will come in.
You will head out with him shortly and observe him as he catches a wild Ralts.
You will both head back and he will be all happy. Head West to trigger an event
with a shady looking guy and continue West. Be sure to pick the berries and to
fight the lady near the entrance to the forest for a whopping 1400 PokeDollars!
Head into Petalburg Woods. Head through, nabbing the item on the left, and
continue until you reach an event. A guy will ask you for help, and a Team Aqua
Grunt will attack you.

If you have your Mudkip up to level 10 use Water gun to tear it apart.
Alternitavely, if you have your Lotad up to level 8, tear it apart with Absorb.
Otherwise your Mud Slap on him to lower his accuracy and kill him.
Aftertha battle you'e get an ultra ball and the guy's thanks.
Head further North and keep going until you get out of the woods and get to
Rustboro City. Now, make sure you're at least Level 10 with Mudkip before you
try this gym, as Water Gun REALLY helps. The enemies in here have low Special
Defense and are weak to it. If for some reason you decide to attack without it,
use Mud Slap, as that's super effective against Rock. Also, Lotad can be of
help if you leveled it up to 8 or above, using absorb!
Okay, enter the gym. Head forwards to fight the first trainer.

Make sure you attack with Mudkip and use Water Gun on the Geodude to KO it.
The second Geodude will come out and be KO'd just like the first. Then comes
Nosepass. Nosepass is pretty much impervious to physical violence, so you'll
have to rely on Water Gun or Absorb to kill it off. Once you paste it, the
battle is over! Congrats! You've just beaten your first gym!
Key item obtained: ??? Badge!
After the battle, head outside and towards the PokeCenter. After a short chase
scene, save and heal!

After First Badge
[W1.1]
=====================
Head out of the pokemon center and head into the house just to the left. Talk
to the man inside and he will give you your first HM, Cut! I would advise
teaching it to a pokemon, so you'll be able to cut trees down. Now head right
and up from the pokemon center and enter the school. Talk to the teacher for a
quick claw. Head North to the top of Rustboro, and head East out of the town.
You will be stopped by a guy and after hearing what he has to say, continue
East to Route 116. You can battle the trainers here for some EXP and money if
you like. If you'd rather just continue on then use the find feature to skip
here: [Next001] Otherwise, commence the battling. Head down and grab the item
then fight the bugcatcher guy.

Pick all the berries adn grab the item and go back to where the Blackbelt is

[Next001]
Now, by this point you should have aproximatly the following levels on your key
pokemon so far:
Marshtomp, Level 16.
If you havn't evolved your starter at least once, fight in the grass until he
does. Make sure to learn Mudshot.
Tailow, Level 13.
If you havn't yet, level up until you do, and make sure to learn Wing Attack.
Lotad, Level 12.
If you havn't yet, do so.
With this done, head into the cave. Head up and grab the item, then head right
and a battle will ensue.

If you've followed my instructions, this battle should be simple. Once Mudshot
from Marshtomp, and Poochyena goes down!
Once you beat him, he will be supprised and hand over the Devon Goods, and
Peeko will be freed. He will flee and Mr. Briney will come and leave with Peeko
to his house. You don't have Rock Smash yet so you can't continue, so head back
to Rustboro. Talk to the guy that spoke to you as you left and he will take you
to see the president of Devon. After getting the PokeNav and the Letter, head
out of the building. A Scientist will stop you and give you his phone number.
You will be forced to call him, so do so. Now head to the local Pokecenter and
heal before saving.
=====================
After The PokeNav
[W1.2]
=====================
Organize your pokemon here and place Lotad in the front. It will serve as sort
of as sacrifice to waken Wingull. Once that's done, head South out of town and
you will be challenged by your rival. You will get your rival's phone number

As soon as the battle starts, have Lotad constantly use Absorb. Wingull is
Water adn Flying types so the attack will be of normal power. Wingull will use
Growl and Supersonic a lot until it has used growl about 4 times. at that point
it will start using Wing Attack, at which point Lotad it pretty much screwed.
But if you've used Lotad you will be able to take off between all of and 3/4 of
Wingull's health. If you go down first bring out Tailow and finish the job with
a nice quick attack. If it goes down first, switch out to Tailow and use Wing
attack on Treeko.
Once you've won, Heal if needed and head back through the Petalburg woods. Head
into the building near the dock. This is Mr. Briney's place, and he's happy
that you saved his beloved Peeko!
He will offer you a ride, and you should accept. Halfway through, you will get

This can be a tough battle if you havn't gotten and leveld Tailow up. Try to

Machop. Use Wing attack to mostly kill him off. He may or may not attack, but
he will be almost dead. Use Wing attack again, as the Gym Leader will heal him
up. One more Wing Attack will kill him. Now Meditite will come out. Just Wing
Attack it once to kill it and repeat for Makuhita. Meditite has lower defense
than Machop and should go down easily. Makuhita it a higher level and tougher
so it might pose a threat, but if you're lucky you won't even lose Tailow. If

Okay, inside the cave, Talk to the Hiker for HM05 which is Flash! Cool! You
will want to teach this to your Lotad. It, along with Zigzagoon will be your HM

to illuminate the cave. As you are running around here you may run into Abra.
It is really hard to get, as it teleports away on it's first turn. If you feel
lucky it you can save and keep trying to get one. If you have Ultra balls, as
you should if you followed the path I have layed out, then it shouldn't be a
problem. You could also try to catch a sableye here. At any rate, it's really
optional, but Kadabra and Sableye are good pokemon for now. If you don't catch
an Abra now, make sure you do before you leave the Island.
From the ladder you should head up and right until you reach the fork. Head
down and grab the item, then head back up and continue right. Use the ladder
and then head up and left. When you reach the stairs, head up then right until
you see a rock that is grey as opposed to brown. Walk up and examine it for an
item. Head down and continue right until you see the ladder and then take it up
to the next lavel.
Head left and go up the ladder to reach the next level. You will notice that
it's no longer dark. Head left until you reach the end and then head down
through the light door. Talk to the character there and you will recieve Steel
Wing, which is TM47, and will deliver the letter to him. He will leave, so head
out and then head right down the cliffs and right till you reach the cave exit.
If you havn't already, go catch an Abra, it's quite helpful!

about the coolest pokemon ever! It's a drunk teddy bear for crying out loud!
What's not to love? Try to make sure to catch a Skarmory here. They are *very*
useful!
Once you reach a house, head inside and talk to the dude. He makes junk out of
ash! All that stuff that's falling from the sky! Anyways, you can walk around
and collect ash enough for him to make you some flutes if you want. The flutes
all have different effects and can be used infinitely. For instance, one flute
will cure paralysis while another will wake sleeping pokemon. They are quite
handy! When you're done here, or if you don't want the items, head left and
dash past the trainers walking up and down towards and away from each other.
Once in town, heal at the PokeCenter. The building on the top left end of town
is home to the move tutor. He will teach pokemon all the moves they can learn,
one per heart scale. You don't have any yet, so don't worry about it. The shop
here has some useful items so be sure to check it out.
Head left out of town and talk to the old man next to the Poochyena. He will
give you TM05, Roar, free of charge! Head South until you come to a grassy area
with some trainers. The house to the right belongs to Lanette, the person who
maintains the Pokemon Storage System in Hoenn. Head further South until you
reach a mountain. You can try to catch a Swablu or Absol in the grass here. The
former will evolve to Altaria, a handy pokemon, while the latter is very rare.
At any rate, run around in the grass and fight pokemon until your Tailow
reaches Lvl 22 and evolves to Swellow.
At any rate, head for the mountain. Hea dup and breack the rock to claim the
item behind it, then head down and loop back up and around. You will be forced
to fight a double battle.

Whee, another easy battle! This is almost boring! Have Swellow use Wing attack
on the Lombre to pwninate it while Marshtomp uses Water Gun on the Geodude.
Have your Tailow switch out for your Lombre or Electric pokemon and have
Marshtomp use Mudshot on Numel. Have the Electric type use an Electrifyingly
Electric move on Marril to KO it, or in the case you sent out Lombre, use
Absorb to take it out.
Continue on, walking behind the hiker ahead, and enter the cave! From the start
of the cave, head North, up two flights of stairs, and claim the item. Head
back down and then left across the bridge. You will note the Team Magma members
here. Head down for a scene with Teams Magma and Aqua. Team Magma will flee and
the Aqua captail will do a song and dance about the evils of the other team and
how his team is the bomb and how you should vote for John Kerry. >_> Okay, I'm
kidding. He just tells you how great you are for fighting team Aqua. Anyways,
talk to the scientist and head down, hopping down the ledges, out of the cave
to Route 115. Head South and break the rock to the right. Grab the item and
head down to pick the berries. Hop down one more ledge and grab the next item.
Now continue south to Rustboro.
Heal at the Pokemon Center here and stock up at the store. Head North and then
East out of town and enter that tunnel again. You now can pass through the
tunnel as you have Rock Smash! Breack a rock and the Blackbelt will give you
HM04, strength, before running off with his girl. Grab the item and head south
out of the cave. A Hiker will stand between you and the exit, but he shouldn't
be a problem.

Simpley have Lombre use Asborb on the two Geodude's to KO them and switch him
out for Kadabra or Swellow to take out the Machop with a well places Flying or
Psychic type move.
Head out of the cave to Verdanturf! Save, heal, restock, and leave to the East.
Head through Route 117 to Mauville, then head North onto Route 111. You can go
here: [GetMBrace] above the current position if you want to fight the family
for the Macho brace this time around. Otherwise head North on this route to
Route 112. Head left until you reach that mountain and you will notice that
there are no more grunts blocking your way! Yay! Head inside and take the lift
up!
When you exit the building you will notice a team Magma and a Team Aqua member
are locked in combat with their Poochyenas. Head North, up the mountain, to
find three Magma members ganging up on one Aqua member as well as some other
spats going on here and there. Head left and you will have to fight a pair of
Magma Grunts.

Okay, from the start you should have Marshtomp out using Water Gun on Mightyena
until it has sand attacked you tywo or three times. Once that happens, switch
out for Swellow and use Quick attack on it. Repeat until it dies. Once he goes
down, Zubat will come out. Switch out for Kadabra and use Psybeam to wipe it
off the face of the earth. Then comes Camerupt. He can be a REAL pain if you
chose Treeko or Torchic. Assuming you have Marshtomp, simply use Water Gun for
nice little 400% power hits. Otherwise...well, I hope you have a water type
that is relitively leveled up.
After this battle is over, and the Team Aqua Leader tells you how awesome you
are, head out of here back down to where the Lift is. Notice that there are no
more poochyenas blocking the way, so head south! Talk to the Magma Grunt for a

Take down Poochyena with pokemon of your choice. It won't matter what you
choose because Poochyena is a big fan of Roar! Once he's gone Numel will come
out. Take it down with Marshtomp and Water Gun.
Head right and south and grab the item and then head down, hopping ledges, and
slip by the trainer at the bottom and exit to Route 112. Head left to the
Pokemon Center and heal up. save and enter the Lavaridge Gym!
Okay, this can get tricky, so stay with me. From where you enter, head left and
up and step on the warp pad. Head down and enter the one closest to you that is
a little above the othe two, Don't get too close to the other two or you'll
fight a battle. From where you are after having been rocketed up, Hop down off
the ledge and circle back up to the left. The pad on the very top, to the left,
is the one you need to enter. Head straight up and enter that pad. Head up and
one space right and fall in that hole. Now there are three holes in here. Enter
the middle one. Now you are in a room with three holes. Enter the one on the
bottom-right and you will fall through. Hop down one ledge and hop in the hole
to be rocketed up to the gym leader!
Update: If you're having trouble with these warps, don't make my mistake and
just guess at them. There is a nice map at the following location for you to
use. Credit to Da Jason for creating it!

EVs & IVs
[T2.0]
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Basic explanation: IVs
IVs stand for Individual Value. Each pokemon has an individual
value for each stat from when you catch it, hatch it, snatch it,
or whatever. The IVs range from 0-31 and add that amount of points
to its stat. This is a factor in the equation used to calculate the
pokemon's stat. The IVs are randomly generated when you attain the
pokemon and are set in stone and unchangeable.
Basic explanation: EVs
EVs stand for Effort Value. You get effort value points by battling certain
pokemon. For instance battling a Spinda will get you one SP. ATT EV. You can
attain a max of 255 in a single stat, and no more than 510 total. Every four
EVs nets you one stat point. So battling four Spindas would net you one SP. ATT
Point. Getting 255 is a waste of three IV points because 252 is the highest
multiple of four in that range.
If you get the following:
Attack EV: 255
DEF EV: 255
You would add 63 points to Attack and 63 to defense. However, if on the same
pokemon you got:
Attack: 252
Defense: 252
SP. ATT: 6
You would have added 63 to Attack, 63 to Defense, and 1 to HP. Believe me, that
one HP might just save your skin, plus you might as well have it.
______________________________________________________________________________.
The equation to calculate attack, defense, speed, SP att, and SP def is: |
Stat = ((base stat * 2 + I + ((E-(E mod 4))/4) * (L/100) + 5 * N) |
|
The equation for calculating HP is: |
Stat = ((basestat * 2 + I + ((E-(E mod 4))/4) * (L/100) + 10 + L) |
______________________________________________________________________________|
Where:
N = either 0.9, 1.0, or 1.1 depending on whether your pokemon's nature adds,
subtracts, or has no effect on the stat you are calculating.
L = the level of your pokemon.
I = The number of IVs the pokemon has.
E = The number of EVs the pokemon has.

How to effectively EV train:
So you're EV training a pokemon? If you've not read the breeding section, I
would suggest you go there now and read it. It is very important to getting the
perfect EV training subject. Okay, for this example, we will assume that we
will be EV Training a Charmander, hoping for the best Charizard the world has
ever seen, or at least one that can whoop that pesky 6 year old down the street
who keeps pwning you.
What you will need:
- Time
- Patience
- A team of 6 Lvl 41+ Zigzagoons or other pokemon with a Pickup Ability.
- A "seed" pokemon to breed.
- The fast bike, to hatch the eggs as fast as possible.(Optional)
- Gather at least 10 of each vitamin. (Iron, Protine, etc)
Okay, what you will want to do is start by breeding about 10 or so Charmander
eggs VIA the day care center. Catch all of them, and deposit them in your PC so
they don't get mixed up. It would also help to name them names like "1", "2",
"3", etc. to keep them seperate. You can always rename them later.
Okay, Now get your team of Zigzagoons or other pokemon with pickup and fight
random battles where there are a bunch of level 2 or so pokemon. After each
one or two battles you should check them to see if they picked up any items.
Do this until you have at least 50 Rare Candies. Save your game.
Now, trade in your ZigZagoons for your one of the hatched pokemon. Here is
where we will choose which of the 10 or 20 is the best pokemon, IV wise.
Save your gamebefore using the Rare Candies so you can simply reset and use
them on a different pokemon. Raise the pokemon up to level 50 using Rare
candies ONLY! It's important that it has fought in no battles and gained no EXP
whatsoever. Once it is at level 50, use the following formulas to determine the
IVs for the pokemon:
______________________________________________________________________________.
The equation to calculate attack, defense, speed, SP att, and SP def is: |
Stat = ((base stat * 2 + I + ((E-(E mod 4))/4) * (L/100) + 5 * N) |
______________________________________________________________________________|
Assuming the Charizard (Evolves to Charizard at Lvl 36) had an attack stat of
115 at level 50. Charizard has a base attack stat at level 50 of 84 points.
So, Stat = 123 and Base Stat = 84. We know you havn't gotten any EVs yet so we
can make that part zero. You are at level 50 so L = 50. We will assume for now
that charizard has a nature which doesn't effect attack.
If you already know Algebra, just plug in your values and solve for I and warp
here: [skipIV] If you haven't yet learned Basic Algebra don't panic: I'll walk
you through it. Also, if you are at level 50 exactly, skip to [skipIV2] for a
simpler way to do this. I have this method here because it will work for all
levels.
Alright, So far you would have:
115 = (84 * 2 + I + (0/4) * (50/100) + 5 * 0)
Which becomes:
115 = (168 + I * .5 + 5 * 0)
Now, Subtract 115 from both sides and you get:
0 = 168 + I * .5 - 115
Subtract I from both sides to get:
-I = 168 * .5 - 115
Then finish up by doing the arithmetic to get:
-I = -31
Divide both sides by -1 to get:
I = 31
Thus you will see that your Charizard has an IV of 31 in attack, which is as
high as he can go. You will use this method to get the IV of the pokemon's
attack, defense, special attack, special defense, and speed.
[skipHP]
To get the IV for Hit Points, you will need to ise the HP formula in the same
manner.
______________________________________________________________________________.
The equation for calculating HP is: |
Stat = ((basestat * 2 + I +((E-(E mod 4))/4) * (L/100) + 10 + L) |
______________________________________________________________________________|
Assume that Charizard has an HP count of 109. Charizard has a base HP stat at
level 50 of 78 points. So, Stat = 109 and Base Stat = 78. We know you haven't
gotten any EVs yet so we can make that part zero. You are at level 50 so L = 50
and we will assume for now that charizard has a nature which doesn't effect HP.
So simply plug in the values and solve for I.
[skipIV2]
So you're at exactly level 50? Well then it's really simple!
To get your base Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, Speed, or
HP simply use the following method:
Assuming the Charizard had an attack stat of 115 at level 50. Charizard has a
base attack stat at level 50 of 84 points. So, Stat = 123 and Base Stat = 84.
I = Stat - Base Stat
So it would be I = 115 - 84
Which becomes I = 31
this is why I strongly urge you to be at EXACTLY level 50.
Okay, once you've done this for the first pokemon, record it's IV values in the
upcoming table if you've saved this to your hard drive or on a piece of paper
or something. Once you've done this for the first pokemon's stats reset so you
have all your 50 Rare candies back and repeat for the second. Once you've done
it for all of your pokemon (Probably at the very least 5 of them) compare their
IVs in the table. Make sure the KEY IVs are the ones you have the highest in
and make a wise decision. For instance, Blissey is the ultimate counter for a
special sweeper. It hase very high Special Defense and HP, rendering it all but
invulnerable to special attacks. Now, if you were breeding and EV training them
you wouldn't want the blissey that had 31 IVs in it's attack, defense, and
speed but had 0 IVs in HP, Special Defense, and Special Attack you wouldn't
want it.
The IV Recording Table:
______________________________________________________________________________.

Pokemon 10| 00 | 00 | 00 | 00 | 00 | 00 |
__________|__________|__________|____________|__________|__________|__________|
Okay, once you've chosen the post of the lot, or perhaps the best few, now is
where the actual EV training. As mentioned before, you can get a max of 255 in
a single stat, but shouldn't go higher than 252. Now, I'm not a big fan of
splitting up EVs, such as giving 252 to attack, 126 to defense, 126 to Speed,
and 6 to HP. I find it is generally better to just go with 252, 252, 6 with
emphesis on your key stats, depending on what you want to do with that pokemon.
Now, how do you get 252 of them? Well for starters, break out those vitamins
you got, or buy them now. Each vitamin adds 10 to one of the EV stats, and you
can use a maximum of 10 on one stat. So if you were boostinf attack and defense
to 252 you would use 10 vitamins on each of those stats to booth it by an
instant 100 EVs. Then you have to go and fight pokemon to get EVs. Certain
pokemon give certain EVs when they are defeated, so you can defeat a certain
pokemon repeatedly to gain EVs, but make sure you record it! This can take a
LONG time to do, so there are a few things you can do to speed up the process.
The first thing you can do is equip a Macho Brace. This handy dandy accessory
lowers your speed, but doubles the amount of EVs you get! Sweet, huh! The
second thing to do revolves around luck. If you happen to catch PokeRus, you're
very lucky. Make sure to walk around with a team of pokemon in with the
infected one so they all contract it and then store them in the box for future
speading of the disease. You'll know if you get it when you try to heal at a
Pokecenter and the nurse tells you that there are things on your pokemon.
What is PokeRus? It's kind of like a permenant Status Effect that causes you to
get double EVs. It wears away after the game clock reaches midnight, so be sure
to put them into the PC before that and until it's passed so they won't be
cured, making your EV gain slower.
Below I will list good EV training Areas and who to fight for different EVs.

Breeding
[T2.1]
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Ahhh, the art of breeding! That special thing that occurs when compatable pokes
such as Skitty and Wailord are left alone in the day care center. I mean, who
told Pidgeotto and Beedril about the birds and the bees? Nobody! They invented
it and wrote the book on it! Anyways, you can find the Day Care Center near
Verdanturf and can check in a maximum of two pokemon to breed.
After a sertain amount of steps, the pokemon, if compatable will have an egg.
You can collect this egg and hatch it by walking around with it in your party
until it does. the fast bike really helps here.
What pokemon will you get if you breed two different types, such as Skitty and
Wailord? You will always get the same species as the female pokemon. The female
pokemon can also pass down natures, if you attach an Everstone to it while you
are breeding it. This really helps out when you're trying to get a specific
nature for the perfect pokemon.
Certain pokemon can not breed at all. This includes all genderless pokemon, all
legendary pokemon, Togepi, Azuril, Magby, Elekid, Smoochum, Tyrogue, Cleffa,
Igglybuff, Unknown, Pichu, Nidorina, Nidoqueen, and Wynaut.
The section detailing all the pokemon breeding compatability is here.
Pokemon can be in more than one group, and any pokemon in a group can make eggs
with any other pokemon in the same group.

All the people from Netbattle, be they programmers, moderators, players, or
just fodder for my holy wrath, without whom I wouldn't have ever known what I
do about pokemon and thus this guide would never have come into existance.
Most of those Kudos go do the programmers for such a sweet online program.
Without their hard work, I wouldn't know a tenth of what I do about pokemon in
general, as well as for info taken from their program.

Please don't abuse the E-mail and make sure I haven't answered your question in
the guide. With that said:
If for some reason or other you wish to E-mail me, My E-mail is:

Be ABSOLUTELY SURE to put "Walkthrough Question" in the title or it WILL get
deleted by my spam filter, and be sure to mention which guide it is in the
body of the E-Mail. I have many guides out and asking me questions about how
to do something in "Game X" aren't going to be answered.
