*  BACKGROUND   *
*****************

After the bitter fighting of World War I was over and peace was restored to
Europe, there remained resentment among certain nations.  Germany, having
lost the war, faced territorial losses and war reparations were imposed upon
the country.  Italy, a victor in the war, felt it had not received proper
territorial gains from winning, and Japan was upset over not gaining control
of China.  Conflict arose in 1939 between Germany and a coalition of France
and England when Germany began seizing territories such as Sudetenland
and Poland.  This conflict soon grew to include most of the nations of the
world.

Britain and France had planned to defend Poland, but when Hitler invaded,
Britain was too far away, so the fighting was left up to the French, who chose
to stay home and play defense instead.  Their main protection was the
Maginot Line, an impressive wall thought to be impervious to attack.
Shockingly, Germany exploited the walls only weakness...the fact that it
stopped at the border with Belgium.  They simply went around France's
greatest defense.  France's newly appointed leader called for armistice in
twelve days.  When the United States joined the war, France became the
invasion point for US and British forces to assault Germany and take back
the continent.

Though the main fighting took place in Europe and the Pacific, an important
front of the war was in Northern Africa.  Fearing British bombers being within
striking distance, Hitler sent General Erwin Rommel with two panzer divisions
to take back Italian losses in the area and remove the British threat to the
success of his plan, specifically his attack on the Soviet Union.  After initial
setbacks, the British managed to hold their own in the area.  British
General Bernard Law Montgomery and the American General Dwight D.
Eisenhower fought together, staving off defeat until Hitler finally removed
Rommel from the area.

In this game, you control Murphy, a member of the 3rd Infantry of the
United States Army as he battles his way through blistering opposition to
help his country and its allies to restore peace to the world.

* CONTROLS  *
*************

D-Pad: the directional buttons move your character in the overhead view
missions.  Your character turn in increments of 45 degrees and his weapon
is aimed in the direction he is facing.  The D-Pad also controls the cross hairs
of your machine gun in the old arcade shooting gallery style missions.

A: the A button fires your currently selected weapon.  It can be held down for
rapid fire.  In the case of grenades, holding the button longer will cause the
grenade to be thrown farther.  Don't worry about it blowing up in your hands,
because if you hold it too long, it will be automatically thrown the maximum
distance.  In shooting gallery mission, pressing A will fire the alternate weapon.

B: the B button allows you to switch to your alternate weapon.

L: the L button reloads your current weapon, taking bullets from your stockpile.
When near an interactive weapon (marked by a flashing arrow), pressing the
L button will put you in control of that weapon.  This includes tanks.

R: the R button allows you to aim in a certain direction indefinitely.  To use it,
face in the direction you would like to aim, press and hold the R button.  Now
you can use the directional buttons and move freely, though a bit more slowly,
without changing the direction you are aiming.  This serves to allow you to
strafe in the game.  In the shooting gallery missions, the R button is for fine
control of the cross hairs.

Start: the start button brings up the mission options menu.  It allows you to
restart, view objectives, or exit to the title screen.

Select: the select button pauses the game and brings up the mission objectives.

* GAME PLAY  *
**************

In Medal of Honor: Infiltrator, you control an American soldier in his efforts
to aid in the Allied assault on the Axis Powers.  You have the ability to fire
guns and implement explosives.  You can carry two weapons at a time.  The
sets of weapons available are as follows:

Thompson SMG and 10 Grenades - the Thompson SMG is a medium range
sub machine gun with 30 rounds per clip.  You can store up to 150 bullets for
the Thompson SMG in your backpack.  The Thompson usually takes about
3-4 shots to kill.  Grenades are timed explosives that you can throw at enemies
or objects.  Determining how far it will go (and how it will bounce) is often
difficult and can lead to damaging oneself.

M1 Garand and 10 Demo Charges - the M1 Garand is a powerful long range
rifle that can kill enemies in 1 or 2 shots.  It has an 8 round clip and you can
store up to 40 bullets in your backpack.  Though it is powerful, it is slow and
reloading can only be done when the clip is empty.  The demo charges are
good for blowing things up, but not people.  There is a long timer, it takes
a long time to set them up (as opposed to the grenade), and they cannot be
thrown.  Not being thrown makes them more accurate for demolishing objects,
like tanks and munitions stockpiles.

Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) and 5 Grenades - in this game, the BAR is
very similar to the Thompson SMG,  but is slightly more powerful and holds
slightly fewer bullets.  It has a 20 round clip and you can hold up to 120 bullets
in your backpack.  The grenades are the same as those that accompany the
Thompson, but there are fewer to compensate for the BAR's large size.

Colt .45 and a Bazooka - the Colt .45 is short range pistol.  It takes about 3-4
shots from this gun to kill, it fires very slowly, and needs reloaded frequently.
There you can load 7 bullets and you can carry holds 50.  The bazooka is a
long range rocket launcher that is a combination of accuracy, range, and
power, but its limited ammo capacity (1 loaded at a time and 8 total) makes it
a poor choice for anything but blowing up tanks and objects.

You start out with the Thompson SMG and 10 Grenades.  You can change
weapon sets in certain rooms (armories, bunkers, etc.) and the availability
of sets depends on where you are in the game.

Aside from the previously listed weapons, there are two other weapons
that can be used, and they are as follows:

Mounted Machine Gun - a powerful, long range, stationary weapon.  When
in use, it shields the user from bullets in the front.  It has unlimited ammo and
kills within about 3 shots.

Tank - the tank has two weapons.  A cannon that can deal explosive damage
to buildings, objects, and people (killing all in 1 shot), and a machine gun
similar to the mounted machine gun.

Certain items can be found along the way that aid you.  Small medpacks that
heal 25 health, and large medpacks, which replenish all of your health can
help you last longer against the enemy fire.  To keep yourself equipped, it
becomes necessary to pick up ammunition packs.

****************
* GENERAL TIPS *
****************

Reload often.  Though it is not as crucial as in some other action games of this
sort, reloading prior to engagement with the enemy in this game increases
your killing efficiency, thus shortening your battles and saving your health.

Reload your weapon before taking ammo packs.  Say you have 1 bullet left in
your Thompson SMG with only a few bullets missing from your backpack,
maybe around 140.  If you take the ammo pack, you'll only receive 10 bullets,
but if you reload first, removing 30 bullets from your backpack, you will be
able to utilize the entire ammo pack.

Use weapon set change areas, even if you don't want to change weapon sets.
When you switch to a new weapon, it has full ammo.  If you would like to keep
your current weapon, you can use the weapon set change area to reload
your weapon.

If you stand still in one place, you will duck, allowing you to stay concealed
and protected if a crate or similar object is between you and your enemies.

Using weapons in a stealth level will set off the alarm.  You must use your melee
attack by getting very close to your enemy and presses the fire button.  This
will silently kill your enemy.  Melee attacks only work against humans, so when
it comes to destroying objects, you may be forced to set off the alarm, grab a
big gun, and duke it out with some Germans.

Tiger at the Gates

(|1|) The Beachhead (|1|)

Main Objectives:
1 Secure Beachhead
2 Secure Fortress
3 Secure Lighthouse

Sub Objectives:
1 Destroy Munitions
2 Find Desert Map Documents

After landing on the shore and having your landing craft (along with three
of your comrades) destroyed, you'll be warned of incoming bombers.
To avoid them, move to the left, loop up around the spikes, known as
hedgehogs, and run back towards where you landed.  Head North,
avoiding the fire and the landmines (circular gray objects that deal 60 damage).
As you approach the top of the screen, you will be attacked.  These soldier
take two bullets to kill, or you can utilize the explosive drums to take out
several of your attackers.  After defeating your enemies, heal up with the
medpack to your right.  Follow the arrows and take the ammunition to your
right and/or the medpack to your left as needed.  Move up, taking the right
path, and stop on the large patch of grass.  From this position, take out the
soldier on the hill, otherwise you'll be pelted by his grenades in the ensuing
battle.  Move forward and a squad of enemies will attack.  Don't move too far
forward so you don't get involved with the second guy on a hill, but instead
pick off the oncoming soldiers.  Try to keep them in front of you so you don't
get surrounded.  Use the same tactic as before to attack the guy on the hill,
thus securing the beachhead.

Follow the arrow.  Moving up you'll face a machine gunner that can be
destroyed by blowing up the barrel next to him.  The building to the right will
allow you to change your weapon set, though I don't especially like using
the M1 Garand and Demo Charges in the upcoming situations.  Go past
the machine gun and throw a grenade at the munitions stockpile, completing
the subobjective.  Immediately move down and man the machine gun, firing
south to mow down the attackers that come.

Head up to the right, and pick of the infantryman while his back is to you and
proceed to kill the guard.  Throw a grenade at the gate (you'll have to stand
even with the grassy patch a few steps before the gate to place the grenade
properly) and go through.  Kill the guard to your left and move right, killing
the two other guards.  The door of the second house will be open, allowing
you to enter and receive full ammo.  If you need it, go up through the alley
spanned by drying clothes to find a full healing med pack within a medical
tent.  Go back to the gate and head north to face an ambush.  Rush up and
stand in front of the open doorway for the best results in the fight.  After the
fight, heal up in the room and then head north, killing the three guards.  Take
the left path and hug the building, slowly moving forward until you can take
out the machine gunner safely.  Proceed forward and kill the two guards,
manning the machine gun to take out the upcoming attackers.  Enter the
doorway to find the desert map documents.

Run back down, to the right and up.  Rush the two guards and grenade
the gate.  By taking the machine gun and sweeping the area of all
attackers you will secure the fortress.

There is a large medpack in the left
corner for you to recover your battle damage.  Blow up the gate and go
through.  Hug the right tree line and kill the two guards in the first sandbag
bunker.  Going through the gap between the trees and the bunker, shoot
the soldier in the second bunker.  Take the third bunker in a similar fashion
and then hug the trees to the right, killing the guard from across the barrels.
Move up, using the palm trees for cover.  Use a grenade to take out the
nearest gunner and assume his position.  Use the R button to sweep the
second gunner.  Approach the light house to provoke an attack, which should
be disposed of with one of the machine guns.  Enter the lighthouse to complete
the level.

(|2|) Deck Gunner (|2|)

Main Objectives:
1 Protect the USS Dallas

In this level you control a deck gun with infinite ammunition.  The USS Dallas
will be attacked by artillery, tanks, and soldiers.  Holding down the fire button
will allow for rapid fire, but will also make the gun harder to control, so
the best way to handle the gun is to stop firing to aim and then proceed to
sweep across your targets.  Shooting the medpacks replenishes your health.
The key is to line up your shots so you can sweep across multiple targets in
one motion.  This is a pretty easy level and the shooting gallery style is
refreshing, but you won't be smiling after a few more of these levels, I
guarantee.

(|3|) Air Raid (|3|)

Main Objectives:
1 Infiltrate Airbase
2 Destroy Ammo Dump
3 Destroy Aircraft
4 Destroy AA Gun

Sub Objectives:
1 Find Flight Documents
2 Destroy Fuel Tanks

You must avoid detection in this mission to ensure your success.  To do so you
must use buildings and objects to duck behind.  It is also important to remember
the pattern of patrolling guards.  Where they stop and turn is important, as
well as the fact that they tend to look forward, turn right, look forward again,
and then turn around at the end of their patrol route.

Go North and hide behind the clump of trees.  When the guard to your north
starts to walk to the right, sneak up and move across behind the sandbags.
Proceed right and duck behind the gate post until the guard ahead moves to
the left.  Sneak up behind him and kill him.  You must get very close to him so
that you melee attack him, as shooting him will set off the alarm.  When the
coast is clear, move right and hide behind the building until you are able to
sneak up and kill the guard to the left of it.  Use the same sneaking tactics to
make your way to the upper left building, where you can find the flight
documents.  To the right you will find a gateway.  Hug the buildings for cover
and move through the path, killing two guards.  The open door in front of
where the second guard was contains a medpack.  Move down and kill the
guard while he's not looking.  Head South, avoiding the searchlight and
using the boxes and barrels for cover while sneak attacking guards.  By now
you should have the hang of it.  The tent in the upper left contains new
weapon sets if you want a change.  The tent in the bottom right contains a
large medpack.  Move to the right, hugging the bottom tree line, stopping to
avoid detection when necessary and moving in for the sneak attack kill when
possible.  When you move through the gate you will be shown the plane you
must destroy.  Instead of attacking it, move up and to the left, stealthily taking
control of the machine gun.  Now move to the right and blow up the fuel tank,
returning to the machine gun to kill the alarmed guards.  Now move down and
blow up the plane, returning once again to the machine gun.  Finally rush back
to the entrance to the area, and go into the small building to the north of the
gate.

Shoot the officer in the back and shoot his soldier.  Unless you really need it,
save the medpack for later.  Clear the halls and blow up the munitions in the
building.

Upon exiting, take the machine gun and fire it.  Kill all attacks.  For some
reason, this temporarily makes it possible to blow things up without setting off
the alarm, so move to the right and blow up the fuel tank and plane.

If you need health, it is up in the right corner.  Now return to where the
machine gun was, move left and enter the tent.  Switch to the Bazooka/Colt
combo and equip the bazooka.  Since the mission is seconds from completion
you can discard stealth and just rush left, destroying the fuel tank, move down
destroying the other tank, move up and left, destroying any guards in your
way, and finally blowing up the anti-aircraft gun.  Thus completing Tiger at the
Gates.

* MISSION 2 *

Pulling Teeth

(|1|) Defection (|1|)

Main Objectives:
1 Evade Enemy Patrols
2 Collect Diesler's Documents From Cottage
3 Infiltrate Diesler's HQ
4 Rendezvous With Diesler

Sub Objectives:
1 Destroy Munitions
2 Find Secret Documents

Another stealth mission.

Head up to the right, kill the guard from behind.  Enter the building to change
weapon sets if you'd like.  When the guard to the left starts heading southwest,
sneak around the fence.  Sneak attack the guard north of the building and
take the medpack in the tent if you need it.  Sneak around the next area killing
as many as you can.  If you get caught/if you kill everyone, run to the lower
left corner and blow up the munitions stockpile.  The last three guards are
really simple to sneak attack.

Once they are dead, head north to discover the cottage containing Diesler's
documents.

When you run north from the cottage, you come to a town.  The road is
blocked by several German soldiers.  To avoid them, take the road left and
walk up the stairs.  Straight ahead is an open door that leads to ammo and
health.  Melee the guard.  If you're really low on health, you can sneak
behind those 4 Germans and stealthily kill them all (watch out for the one
patrolling, as he looks towards you when he reaches the right hand side
of the road).  To the right of the gate is a building with a large medpack.
Go north and hide behind the buildings to avoid the three guards.  When they
turn their backs to you, follow them up and hide behind the crates to the right.
When they walk back down, scramble left, ignoring the open door in the
corner unless you need health.  Up the road is a guard for you to sneak attack.
Take a left so you go up towards a guarded gate.  Take out the unsuspecting
German and step through the gate.  Using the car for cover, kill the lower
guard then proceed to kill the last guard.  Enter the building ahead firing.

Kill the guy in front of you and go left, killing the guard and the officer at
the piano.  Take the secret documents.

Head back to the stairs, guns blazing.  Take everyone out and follow the
arrow to Diesler.

(|2|) Escape (|2|)

Main Objectives:
1 Secure Town
2 Escape to the Airfield

Sub Objectives:
1 Find Secret Documents
2 Destroy Munitions

This mission is a welcome return to action game play.  Run forward on the right
side of the fountain.  Once the guards attack, blow up the barrel to take a
couple out.  Shoot the rest and run ahead until you are stopped by the building
in front of you.  Shoot three shots to your right, take the alley north and
follow it to the left and up.  Shoot the barrel and enter the building to
find a large ammo pack.  Head back down, staying on the small road, and go
right to find yourself behind a unaware guard.  Melee him and head over the
bridge.  There you will be attacked by five soldiers, one using a rocket
launcher.  Using the R button to hold your aim towards the right side of the
screen, sweep the bridge, carefully avoiding thrown grenades, and approach
your attackers to engage them in a melee battle.  This exploits their heavy
use of explosives, as it will damage them when they use them.  It also makes it
easier to kill the rocket launcher.  Shoot the guard standing at the light post in
the right corner of the next area and immediately run behind the car across
the street.  Two soldiers will attack but from your position they will be easy to
pick off.  Run up the small road prepared to fire at the door in front of you
to take out the guard.  Within the building lies a (possibly) much needed
medpack.  Return to the main street and moving right past the bench and
hugging the lower building.  Sneak up on the guard and kill him.  To the
north is a building where you can swap your weapon set.  From there, hold
R to aim upwards and strafe across the two guards above you.  When you
take the street to the southwest your are attacked by 4 guards who can be
easily removed using the R + strafe technique.  Watch out for grenades
though.  Follow the road down and to the left.  Kill the first attacking guard,
careful not to walk too far, as this will get more attackers involved in the
fight.  Kill the second guard, using the crate above you as cover if necessary.
Moving left and taking the small street up and to the right, you will encounter
a pair of guards protecting the building containing the secret documents.

Go left into the park and kill the guard along the water's edge.  Return to the
main road and walk down hugging the right side building to safely remove the
soldier in the corner.  Along the wall of the building to the left are two guards
who should be taken out and another will be guarding a machine gun.
Assume your position on the machine gun, aim it directly right, hold R and start
firing to spray the entire bridge with bullets.  When all attackers have been
destroyed, cross the bridge and take the road left to find ammo resting next
to some hedgehog spikes.  From where you found the ammo, shoot the soldier
to the south and immediately run down and fire left to the grenade throwing
guard who is protected by a wall.  Hold R when facing down and strafe across
the guards/explosive barrel in the south corner.  Attempt to cross the bridge
where you will have a very tough battle.  Low on ammo, you will encounter
several grenade throwing Germans and then be flanked by a rocket launcher.
Use R to strafe across the attackers, staying near the middle of the bridge, and
move left to take out the rocket launcher when he appears, running up and
down to avoid his rockets.  It helps if you anticipate his approach...it comes after
you kill about 4 attackers, so after you do that back up to the left of the screen.
This is a very difficult battle, but if you manage to take out the rocket launcher
early and keep strafing, you will be alright.  After taking the bridge, you will
be made easy pickings for a rocket launcher, but his projectiles can be avoided
by moving up and down.  Hide behind the car once he has been killed, and use
this vantage point to kill the second rocket launcher.  Blow up the barrels that
block your path to some ammo and blow up the second set of barrels to kill
the nearby guard.  Moving right will reveal a large number of German soldiers
who can be destroyed by exploiting the explosive barrel.  Don't forget to
head south from here, hugging the right side wall to sneak attack  the machine
gunner in the corner who is expecting an attack from his left.  Return north and
continue past where the German soldier had been.  Moving north from the
hedgehog spikes on the right side of the screen will give you a clear shot at the
final enemy in town.

Run north, provoking several soldiers who can be killed by strafing across the
screen firing.  Take out the soldier in the bunker and move up.  As soon as you
see a German running toward you, retreat so you don't get engaged by the
others.  Hugging the trees to the left, attack the patrolling guard in the
corner, then move to the upper right corner to clear the sand bag bunker.
Aim at a 135 degree angle and kill the rocket launcher and the nearby soldier
up the road.  Attack the soldier in front of the building as well.  Blow up
the munitions and move to the southwest to kill two officers.  Enter the building
you previously cleared get full health and full ammo.

Follow the road to the north where you will need to strafe kill a few German
attackers.  Slowly approach and pick off the two guards in the corner.  You will
face a few attackers in the clearing as you head towards the entrance to the
airfield.  When you get past them, hug the lower tree line and control the
machine gun.  Use it to kill the German's guarding the airfield and enter the
objective area.

(|3|) Covering Fire (|3|)

Main Objectives:
1 Survive the Onslaught

This shooting gallery mission is much harder than protecting the USS Dallas.
Try to save the barrels for late in the round as they contain grenades and
health.  Same aiming style as the USS Dallas mission.  Watch out for guys in
the tower and in the hanger.  Use a grenade on the tank.  That's about all
I can do to help your chances.

*************
* MISSION 3 *
*************

Thunderbolt

(|1|) Break and Cover (|1|)

Main Objectives:
1 Reach Bunker
2 Break Through Enemy
3 Infiltrate and Secure Rail Depot

Sub Objectives:

1 Find Secret Documents
2 Eliminate High Ranking SS Soldiers

This mission is a combines many of the aspects of the previous missions into
one.  Its back in Africa, so you start in an area that looks like the first mission.
Head north and continue running forward until the sound clip "Incoming!"
is finished, at which time you should immediately turn and run south to avoid
the bombs.  Get in the sand bunker and shoot the barrel and the soldier that
are in front of you.  Exit the bunker to the left, heading north enough to lure
out a soldier.  Reenter the bunker and take him out from there to avoid getting
mowed down by the machine gunner.  Now stand to the left of the bunker and
run towards it.  Continue holding the right d-pad button so Murphy runs in
place.  While running right, carefully tap the up button to get around the
bunker without shifting the camera and alerting the machine gunners.
Continue right, moving around the barrels and hiding behind the barbed wire.
Go south and enter the bunker to your left to complete the first mission
objective.

In the bottom right corner there is a medical tent with a large medpack.  Go
north, avoiding the land mine, and quickly running around the barbed wire
and entering the tank using the L button.  Use the tank to kill the guy in the
sandbag bunker, the gun in the concrete bunker in the upper right corner,
and the two machine gunners.  Exit the tank and kill the soldier in the
building to the northwest of the machine guns.  The building also contains
a small medpack.  Reenter the tank and use it to shoot the two machine
gunners in the northern passage.  Get out of the tank and walk north.

There is a weapon set change in the bunker ahead.  From the bunker, move
west, using the small hill as cover to remain unseen.  This part of the mission
requires stealth.  All of the buildings in the area are open, providing better
cover and many of them contain items.  This map shows where ammo (a) and
medpacks (m) are located.

If you don't need any items, the quickest and easiest way to get through the
area is to sneak along the bottom to the corner, sneaking up on the guard on
the way, and then going straight up, avoiding detection from the guard who
moves horizontally.

In the next area, sneak up and duck behind the crates.  When the guard to
the right begins walking away, run after him and kill him.  In the first alley you
passed in your pursuit of the guard, stands a clueless soldier who should
immediately have his neck snapped.  There's a medpack in the building next
to him.  Go through the alley and sneak attack the patrolling soldier who is
circling the building to the north.  The building contains a medpack.  The
guard in the upper left usually get stuck next to the medical tent, but if he
doesn't, kill him.  The building to the right of the medical tent contains the
secret documents, but they are guarded and getting them will set off the alarm.
It is up to you...if you want the silver medal, go for it.  If you choose to get them,
rush into the room and shoot at the upper left corner to take out the guard.
Take the documents, aim down and hold R.  Shoot at anyone who attempts to
enter the room until all reinforcements have been killed and the alarm is
turned off.

To the east, there will be a guard circling a bunker.  When he begins to
walk down, move in for the kill, but before you go down to far, you must
kill the unsuspecting watchman standing along the left wall.  Then proceed
to kill the patroller.  Enter the building to the right of the bunker and wait for
the patroller to the right to walk up past the standing watchman.  Then rush in
to kill the watchman.  When the patroller comes back down, kill him, too.
There is a medical tent in the corner.  To the north is a large watchman who
occasionally looks your way.  Hide behind the building he guards until he
looks down and when he faces left again, rush him.  Moving up from the
building, there will be a path to your right occasionally occupied by a guard.
When he's not looking, close-range kill him.  There is a path to the south that
leads to a blue house.  Within the building is a German officer.  Just avoid that
confrontation altogether, unless you're really into killing things.  To the north
sits a compound containing two high ranking SS soldiers.  Storm up the stairs
to kill the first one.  When he's dead, go down the stairs and into the doorway
at between the two staircases.  Wait for the second soldier to attack and kill him
from there.  Within the building from which the second SS soldier emerged sits
a medpack that you may need after your run-in with those Schutzstaffel Nazis.

Go back to the main area, stopping when necessary to avoid detection and
slipping through the gate.  Run in front of the hangers to the left, but do not
enter the first one, as it is guarded from the inside.  Rush to the left and shoot
the guard there.  Hug the lower building and walk straight out in front of the
machine guns (if you hugged the building, they will not see you).  Stand so
you can throw a grenade directly between the two gunners.  Throw the
grenade, holding the fire button long enough for it to explode as soon as it
reaches the gunners.  As soon as you throw it, switch to your gun and rush
forward to the right, killing the third guard.  This only works if done perfectly,
in most cases one of the gunners will survive, so you'll have to take up the
other gun and battle him that way.  Now that all that has been taken care of,
walk through the gate.  Rush the guard standing at the buildings ahead.
Return to the rails where a soldier will attack from the right.  When he is dead,
lure the guard out of the upper right corner, and attack him using the building
for cover.  Take the medpack from the corner.  Move left and you will be
ambushed by an inhumane number of soldiers.  Use the boxcar and the lower
left corner for cover.  Melee the grenade throwers.  Use the boxcar to hide
around the corner from those with guns so you can pick them off as they
round the corner.  There is a barrel in the upper left that can be used to blow
up a crowd, but it rarely works the way you planned.  Save the medpack to the
left of the boxcar for when you really need it.  One trick that sometimes works
to conserve ammo is to use grenade thrower's grenades against the enemy.
Stand still to attract everyone to you and when a grenade is thrown, run away.
With any luck, the enemies will run into the exploding grenade and all die.
The real key is to avoid getting in a fight with more than 1-2 enemies at a time
by using the boxcar and lower left corner for cover from the rest of the
attackers.  Once the ambush is taken care of, go west and attack the guard
standing in the train car.  Continue left to the engine to complete the mission.

(|2|) Unexpected Party (|2|)

Main Objectives:
1 Destroy All Opposition

Wow this is a tough mission.  This is where I really began to hate the shooting
gallery missions.  There are highly inaccurate controls thanks to the gun having
momentum...realistic, but a real pain in the butt.  To get health from the barrels
you have to 1. shoot the barrel 2. shoot the barrel as it flies up in the air 3. shoot
the med pack that flies through the air.  Is it just me or are there guys shooting
at me?  I don't have time to do all that.  I lose more than I gain.  Oh well, this
is a FAQ not a review so I'll get on with it.  Do NOT let them get to the center
gun because it will tear you up.  Save the barrels for when you need health.
There are little red things on the ground...2 to the left and one to the right.
These release medpacks when hit.  They're much easier to use than the barrels
so use them when you're really in a pinch.  Grenade the tanks when they
appear.  You have to hit them in the turret to destroy them.  This is a horribly
annoying level and it corroborates the case against shooting gallery style
game play.  You'll get through it, but you'll probably be ready to punch the
next person you see when you do.

(|3|) Stealing the Fire (|3|)

Main Objectives:
1 Secure Ruins
2 Destroy Tank Repair Depot
3 Destroy Panzer Division

Sub Objectives:
1 Destroy Reinforcement Tanks
2 Destroy Munitions

Head north and stop outside of the range of the machine gunner.  After the
patrolling guard starts walking up and the gunner is turned to one side (making
it possible to shoot him), rush the gunner and take his gun.  Use it to kill the
other guard.  Avoid the land mines as you push north.  Run east, killing the
guard who walks up to you.  The building directly below you is a weapon
set change area, but be careful.  When you approach the door, you will be
attacked by a guard from within.  So first, go around the crates and shoot the
guard at the gates of the reinforcement tanks.  Then enter the weapon set
change building, killing the guard as he comes out, and switch to the M1
Garand and the demo charges.  Use the charges to blow up the
reinforcement tanks located to the south.

Switch back to the Thompson SMG and head east, killing the guard to the
south.  When you reach the rails, turn to the right side of the screen.  You
will be attacked by a large number of German soldiers.  Use the crates in the
middle of the area for cover and take them out as they come around the corner.
Attack the officers when they stop to reload their handguns.
When the all clear is given, take the steps from which the Germans attacked.
Take the ammunition pack in front of you and grenade the munitions stockpile.
Follow the corridor to the north and use the first set of non-explosive barrels
for cover as a few Germans attack.  Continue pushing north and shoot the
guard roaming the hallway.  There is a medpack in the next room as well as an
unaware officer.  Shoot your way through the rest of the hall.  Go back and
destroy the munitions in the munitions in the last room (first room from the exit).

There's a medpack waiting for you when you exit the underground bunker,
but save it for later.  Enter the nearby building and switch to the BAR for a
more powerful weapon.  Fire upon the 4 soldiers who are standing on the
hills.  Don't worry about losing some health, you have a full health pack waiting
for you so just line up your shots and kill them.  When you've finished them
off, go back and get the health.  Go back down and enter the tank.  Drive
down and to the right.  Avoid the explosive barrels in the following areas as
they damage the tank.  Bullets can no longer harm you and you can kill men
by running into them, so focus your attention on the large anti-tank guns.
They all attack from above, so hold the R button to keep your turret facing up
while you drive around.  Head north, crushing an attacker.  Straight ahead will
be an anti-tank gun.  To the left will be another.  You have to allow time for
your tank's gun to be reloaded before attacking it.  Ahead sits a machine
gunner who now has no power over you, so just ignore him, or blow him up
for a cool animation.  Going north, you'll face another anti-tank gun.  Go north
to the right of the building you just blew up, driving past the machine gun on
its right side so you can immediately blow up the German carrying a rocket
launcher.  Move over behind the large crater in the ground go full speed
ahead out of the area.  Continue going full speed ahead, but fire a round
straight forward when you reach the chain link fence.  Going west, and then
down, you'll see a pair of tank bays.  Shoot them to destroy them.  Go west
again and then north.  Slowly approach the gate and eventually you
will notice the shadow of a man with a rocket launcher who should be
promptly toasted.  Within the fence are several tanks.  Destroy them, being
careful to keep your distance from the explosions you cause.

If your tank is damaged, return to the tank bays you destroyed and take the
fresh tank sitting in the right one.  Return to the fenced area with the
destroyed tanks and exit to the left.  Go down slowly to avoid the land mines.
When you go between the buildings, you will be ambushed by the panzer
division.  Use the mounted machine gun on the tank and try to crush all
attackers.  If your tank is destroyed, just make sure you stay in motion to
avoid the rockets.

* MISSION 4 *
*************

Mousetrap

(|1|) Tail Gunner (|1|)

Main Objectives:
1 Protect the Bombers

Nothing new here except you can't shoot barrels and get health.  You can see
the enemies approaching through the clouds, so shoot them before they can
shoot you.  The worst formation is when 4 attackers come at once.  Try to take
at least one out before they are within range, and then attack them based on
which one is firing at you.  Always take out the plane firing at you since enemy
fire damages you very quickly.

(|2|) Missing In Action (|2|)

Main Objectives:
1 Secure Crash Site
2 Secure the Radio Post
3 Protect the Farmhouse

Sub Objectives:
1 Retrieve Downed Plane Documents

From the start, head up to the downed bomber you are shown.  Germans will
attack you, but you can defeat them easily using the plane for cover.  After the
area is secured, go to the cottage to the right of the bomber and heal up with
the full medpack.

Just past the plane are 4 explosive barrels.  Blow them up and head through
the path.  Aim left and strafe to kill the guards.  Once they're dead, walk around
the flaming wreckage and take the documents.

Go back to the plane and to the north through the gate.
Germans will attack again, so charge towards the nearby door killing the
Germans who emerge from it.  Situate yourself to the right of the building and
attack the soldiers as they round the corner.  When all are killed, enter the
building and take the medpack found within.

Walk through the area and past the power lines to the north.  You will be
attacked again.  Dash behind the building to the right for cover and shoot the
Germans up.  Hopefully one will lay down a medpack for you.   Heading north,
you will be given three options.  West, North, and East.  All three lead to very
difficult battles.  The easiest way to go is the center path, so go that way.  Wait
for the guard to the right to start walking up.  Hug the hedgerow to avoid the
mine, then head to the center and sneak attack the guard standing still.
When the guard to the right starts walking up again, sneak up on him and
kill him.  Exit the area to the north.  The next area will be heavily bombed,
so continue moving forward and loop around the last tree to the left.  This,
among many others, is a route that works to get through the raid unharmed.
You will come out between to buildings and be attacked by a large number
of German soldiers.  Use your strafing ability to take them out, saving the full
medpack in the lower left corner for when you really need it.  If you are hurt
at the end of the battle, there is another full medpack in the meadow that you can
reach by taking the path to the left.  To continue with the mission, head north.
There is a weapon set change tent to the left.  If you dash behind it and quickly
aim, you can kill the guard on top of the hill.  Move to the right side from there
and aim up the hill to take out the second guard.  Aim your gun at a 135 degree
angle and slowly creep through the mine field.  Line yourself up so you can
shoot the next guard on the hill to the left.  Use the same tactic to get through
the ditch.

(|3|) Lone Wolf (|3|)

Main Objectives:
1 Destroy Refuelling Depot
2 Destroy Radio Mast
3 Destroy Railway Bridge

Sub Objectives:
1 Find Secret Documents
2 Destroy Munitions

Cross the bridge and move east, hugging the river's edge.  From there, throw
a grenade (in this case you can just hold the fire button until the grenade is
automatically thrown) at the gun ahead.  Run towards the bunker you just
blew up, to the left, avoiding the fire and mine, and back onto the road.  From
across the bridge, shoot the German guard.  Cross the bridge and shoot the two
patrollers.  Walk left along the water's edge and shoot the guard in the weapon
set change building ahead before he can even bring his gun into position.  The
next area has two mounted heavy machine guns and two soldiers.  Destroying
the guns with grenades is difficult, and destroying the guns with dynamite is
virtually impossible, however, inside this heavily guarded compound sits a
tank that you can use.  I find it easiest to just charge into the compound and get
in the tank's protective carapace before the enemy bullets tear you up.  Don't
worry about losing health, outside the compound and to the right of the screen
sits a medical tent that contains a full medpack.  Once in the tank, use it to destroy
the tank bay it was sitting in, as well as all opposition.

Take the tank back out and stop by the medical tent to heal up.  Run up the
road, staying in the center to avoid the land mines.  Follow the arrow out of the
area.  Rush up and kill the first patrolling guard.  Continue north and enter the
cottage, prepared to shoot a guard who emerges from the door as you
approach.  Inside the cottage you will find some secret documents.

Hide in behind the fence until you see a guard walk down the center path
of the farm (the one in front of the hay cart).  Follow him down, killing him, and
immediately charging into the garden at the right side of the the screen to kill
guard who attempts to ambush you.  Heading back north, there will be a guard
across the hedge to shoot at.  Enter the guard to the southwest and kill the two
guards from across the hedge.  Sometimes another guard will ambush you from
the north.  In the lower left corner of the garden is a medpack.  Exit the garden
and creep past the land mines.  In the southwest corner of this clearing is a full
ammo pack.  Slowly move up the path to the north and stop when you see a
soldier street ahead.  Throw a grenade and rush south.  Return north and stop
when you see the crate the guard you blew up had been standing next to.  Aim
at 45 degrees and throw a grenade at the guard/radio mast.

Charge up and shoot the guard at the building.  If you need health, there is
a medpack in the building to the right of the destroyed radio mast, but a German
will emerge when you approach so be careful.  Follow the arrow to the north.
Immediately run to the west and down.  Inside this building is a German officer
and a full medpack that you'll want to save for later.  You may or not alert the
nearby patrolling guard, but at any rate, he should be disposed of.  North of
the building that contained the officer will be a set of stairs.  Standing on the
edge of the sidewalk in front of the stairs, throw a grenade at the pair of
guards.  Inside the building they guarded is a weapon set change area.  For
now, keep a weapon with grenades.  Stand a step in front of the first light post
to the east of the stairs and throw a grenade at the two guards to your right.
Immediately switch to your gun, move north a few steps, and take out the
survivor(s) of the blast.  Stand in front of the crates that are north of the light
post you just attacked from.  When the German guard in the next area comes
into range, take him out.  Move east along the road and stop when you are
in range of the guard at the end of the street.  Farther east, there is a guard
patrolling the water's edge who should be killed.  Now you should go back to
the weapon set change area in the west and switch to the M1 Garand so you
have both sniping capabilities and demo charges.  Walk all the way
back to the eastern end of the street and get in the upper right corner (next
to the outhouse).  From here, snipe the guard.  Hide behind the outhouse for
a second and take out the guard who comes to investigate the area.  They both
take two shots from the Garand.  Now stand on the stairs and pick off one of
the two guards.  Use the building to the right as cover when the other attacks
and kill him.  Head northeast and you'll come to a munitions stockpile that you
should blow up with a demo charge.

Go back west and get the full medpack from the officer's building if you need
it.  Now charge past the mounted gun and into the next area (the exit is to the
west of the munitions pile you blew up).  Move to the lower left corner of the
screen.  Creep up and pick of the guard in the upper left.  Immediately
kill the guard to the right.  Continue right, taking out the lower guard first, as
the other two just throw grenades.  Kill those and walk out onto the bridge.
Place a demo charge on the crack in the middle to complete the mission.

* MISSION 5 *

Trail of the Beast

(|1|) The Hunt (|1|)

Main Objectives:
1 Destroy Communications Equipment
2 Locate Diesler
3 Eliminate All Enemy Troops

Sub Objectives:
1 Destroy Ammo and Fuel Dumps
2 Destroy Diesler's Dinghy

Go right and sneak attack the guard to the north.  Ahead, in the corridor to
the right, is a probably unneeded ammo pack.  Follow the main hall and enter
the room to the north (before the left turn), killing the German.  Back in the hall,
hide behind the crates when told to "look out."  When the patrolling guard turns
his back to you, shoot it.  Move to the left side of the hallway and hide behind
the crates ahead.  Kill the second guard using similar tactics.  There is a third
guard with crates on the right side to hide behind.  The hall splits off to the right
of the main corridor.  This hall leads to health and ammo, but also a fight.  Enter
the locker room and hide behind the first set of lockers.  When the patroller
starts walking down, sneak attack him.  Now walk in front of the set of lockers
in the bottom right, hugging the locker to avoid detection.  Switch to grenades
and tap the fire button.  When the two German's blow up, snag the med/ammo
packs.  Return to the main hall and head north, walking up the middle of
the grating in the floor.  Stop at the northern edge of the grating (still in the
middle of it lengthwise, however) throw a grenade full distance.  If done
properly this will kill all three guards or at least two.  With your weapon
aimed at 315 degrees, strafe right and kill the guard standing next to the barrels.
Aiming the gun to the right, move right and spray bullets up and down to kill
the two guards.  Then enter the fuel storage area in the door to the south,
taking out the two soldiers within, using the doorway for cover.  Use the
explosive barrels to blow up the other barrels by standing so the explosive
barrel lies between you and the set of fuel barrels nearest to it and pelting the
explosive barrel with bullets.  Be sure to leave enough room between you and
the explosions.  Return to the hall and continue right.  The hallway turns to
the south and then splits of to the east.  If you go east, you can see the room it
leads to, which contains 4 guards, 4 explosive barrels, and 4 ammo piles.  When
the nearest guard starts walking north, stand in the doorway and lob a grenade.
Run right to the corner and use this point to pick off the rest of the guards, who
will come to attack.  Use the barrels to blow up the ammo the same way you
blew up the fuel tanks.

Exit the room and go back to the main hall, going south.  Go through the door
and stand at the top of the stairs.  Lob a grenade to cause a huge explosion,
but quickly switch to your Thompson since one of the guard usually manages
to survive.  There is a medpack guarded by a German if you follow the left
path.  The right path also has a patrolling German.  Down the path, it splits off
to the east.  Charge the two guards and take out the third soldier who attacks,
or, if he's not alerted, go kill him.  The door to the north in this hall leads to a
weapon set change area.  Walk north up the path to that the hall leads to.
When the path turns right, shoot the guard standing there.  Run up the stairs
in the northeast corner.  Kill the soldier patrolling the room at the top and
continue north to pick off the two guys protecting the communication
equipment.  Use explosives to blow the stuff up.  Go back down the stairs and
head south.  After shooting the guard, head to the right.  Sneak attack the two
Germans blocking your path to Diesler.  Standing behind the barrel, aim your
gun at 45 degrees and kill the soldier on the boat.  Head up and the right,
killing the grenade thrower in your way by blowing up the barrel nearest to
him.  In the water near where he stood is Diesler's dinghy which should be
blown to bits.  Go south, using the barrels to hide from the patroller.  Sneak
attack the guard standing still while the patroller isn't looking and the
proceed to snap the patrolling guard's neck.  Shoot the two guards on the
boat, then go back around and kill the guard in the lower left corner of the
area.

(|2|) Shoot Out (|2|)

Main Objective:
1 Survive the Onslaught of Diesler's Henchmen

The final and hardest of the shooting gallery missions.  Take advangtage of the
large boxes that contain medpacks and grenades since they are easier to hit
than the far off barrels.  Try to shoot anyone you see throwing a grenade.
Usually they drop the grenade and it blows up, killing others.  When Diesler
crosses the screen on the crane shoot him a lot, otherwise he will drain most
of your health.  Other than that this is just like the other missions and shouldn't
be too much of a problem.

(|3|) End Game (|3|)

Main Objective:
1 Reach and Eliminate Diesler

Rush straight ahead, firing at the German who enters.  Then run left and use
the crates for cover.  Use the same tactic for the next few waves of soldiers.
Eliminate one and then use crates or barrels for cover to pick of the other two.
Follow the arrow.  Go to the left and kill the grenade thrower.  Avoiding the
grenades of the other thrower, kill the German carrying a rocket launcher who
emerges from the left side.  As long as you keep moving, the grenades won't
hit you.  Next, two soldiers will emerge from the top and bottom entrances.
Once they are finished, shoot into the right side entrance where a guard will
emerge.  Then head to the lower entrance and kill the soldier who enters.
From there, shoot across the water at the final attacker.  There is ammo in
the upper right corner and a full medpack in the next area.  Runn to the
spool of wire then break right, firing.  As soon as the enemy there is dead,
turn and charge left, firing at another guard.  Get back in front of the spool and
use it as cover for killing the soldier who emerges from the top.  Immediately
prepare to dodge a rocket and take out the rocket launcher.  Use the spool
for cover once again as you take out the other enemy.  There is a medpack
in the upper right corner.  Enter the next room and rush to the right.  Use the
torpedos as cover for killing Diesler and his henchmen.

Congratulations, you've defeated Diesler.  As a result, everyone in Britain
holds up 'V' for victory, though I think they later stopped celebrating as they
realized they still had to defeat the rest of Germany.

*****************
* Survival Mode *
*****************

Survival mode can be accessed by going to 'extras' on the main menu of the
game, but only after beating the game.  In survival mode, the German's do
their best Russia impression, sending wave after wave of men against a much
smaller, better equipped, better supplied enemy who sits in an advantagous
position.  As a result, the death count will be high, so to help you keep track,
it is placed in the upper right corner of the screen next to the time you've
lasted.  From the start, head north to reach a weapon set change area.  I like
using the BAR since its a good combination of speed and power, but it really
doesn't matter much, as you will not need to use your own weapon much.
Cross the bridge and immediately go to the upper left corner of the area,
assuming control of the machine gun that sits there.  From here, rittle your
enemies with bullets from your infinitely deep ammo box.  Since the machine
gun will deflect a majority of the bullets, the only thing you really need to be
concerned with are explosives, so target grenadiers and rocket launchers.
Rocket launchers who attack from the western entrance often situate
themselves in such a way that they cannot be hit, so leave the machine
gun and take them out by hand, or Thompson, whichever.  There are plenty
of full health medpacks scattered throughout the town, so whenever you
accumulate a lot of damage, take up your rifle and head out for some healing.
If you succumb to the onslaught, your time and kills will be saved and
compared to any previous scores.

***************
* Max-GI Mode *
***************

Max-GI Mode can be accessed by selecting 'extras' from the main menu, but
only after beating the game and obtaining all medals, gold and silver.  The
only difference in actual gameplay is the color change in your uniform.
There are, however, significant changes.  The game must be completed
without stopping and without dying, as there are no saves or extra lives.

This is a great game.  It is highly accurate historically, challenging but not
impossible, long but not boring.  Hopefully this FAQ/Walkthrough helps
