Basic Single Button Functions
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
________
A Button - The A button is used as the confrimation button in the game menus,
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ but more importantly, as the Acceleration button when racing.
________
B Button - The B Button us used in menus as the back, or cancel button.
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ In races, it is used to slam on the brakes of your kart.
_____
D-Pad - You use the D-pad to navigate menus, and steer your kart when racing.
¯¯¯¯¯
_____________________
Right Shoulder Button - While racing, hit the Right shoulder button to jump.
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ While in the air, turn left or right to being a
powerslide.
You'll need to master the powerslide if you want to be
the best racer you can be.
____________________
Left Shoulder Button - The left shoulder button is used to fire/use the
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ item/weapon you have.
You can hold the Left Shoulder button when you have a
banana, single green, single red shell or spiny shell
to hold it behind your kart (which will act as a sheild)
and while holding an item you can pick up another.
_____
Start - Start acts like like the A button in game menus, and will pause the
¯¯¯¯¯ game when racing.
______
Select - Select honks the horn of your kart when racing. Each kart has a
¯¯¯¯¯¯ different sounding horn.
______________________________________________________________________________
Advanced Controls
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
_________
Reversing - To reverse your kart, hold the down arrow and B. Thanks to Ian
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Price for pointing out that we'd forgotten to include this.
_________
Spin Turn - If you need to change directions quickly, hold A and B and either
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ left or right on the D-pad. Your kart will spin around very fast
on the spot. You can turn 360 degrees in about a second. This
technique is usually used in Multiplayer Battle, instead of in
races.
________________________
Special Weapon Functions - Just hitting the fire button will use/fire the
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ weapon's normal mode of fire. But some weapons have
a second function, and here I list them:
Single Green Shell - If you hold down on the d-pad and fire a green
shell, it will fire directly behind you, instead
of infront of you.
Single Red Shell - If you hold down on the d-pad and fire a red
shell, it will stop exactly where you shot it,
and wait for the next kart to pass it, when this
happens, it will home in on them. Very sneaky.
Banana - Hold up/forward on the d-pad when you have a
banana and you'll fire it infront of you,
instead of dropping it behind you.
Spiny Shell - Hold down and fire the spiny shell and it will
wait where you left it (like a red shell) and
when the leader of the race comes past it next,
it will chase after them.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The idea of this section, is to show you through the way that Mario Kart Super
Circuit works.

The Engine Classes
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
____
50cc - Think of this as your training for the "real" game. This mode will help
¯¯¯¯ you to will help you to get to know the tracks a bit better, and give
you a good feel of the game. Shouldn't give you any troubles at all.
_____
100cc - In 100cc, at first you can run into some problems, because at this
¯¯¯¯¯ stage, you still won't have mastered the controls of the game, or
know the tracks off by heart. 100cc though, shouldn't give you too
hard of a time.
By 100cc, you'll be getting to know tracks better, and figuring out
small strategies and so on that can only be discovered through
practice.
_____
150cc - This is where it's at! Races will be fast, intense and have the edge
¯¯¯¯¯ of your seat right through. By 150cc, you will know the tracks well,
and by the time you get a gold trophy on a cup, you'll know the tracks
like the back of your hand. Expect very tough races on 150cc.
______________________________________________________________________________
Points
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
You earn points when you finish in one of the top four places in a race. By
finishing in the top four, you'll be able to continue to the next race. If you
finish in fifth place or lower in a race, you won't get any points and you'll
have try that race again.
At the end of the cup, the racer with the most points will be awarded the gold
trophy. The racer with the second highest total of points is awarded the silver
and the third highest gets the bronze.
____________
Place Values
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
1st Place - 9 points
2nd Place - 6 points
3rd Place - 3 points
4th Place - 1 points
5th or lower - 1 points
______________________________________________________________________________
Coins
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
You'll find coins, specially placed in small, or large groups around every
single track in the game. You can collect up to 55 coins on each track.
You can increase you top speed by collecting more coins on the track. If you
bump into another racer you will lose a coin. If you get down to 0 coins, each
time you get bumped by a racer, you will spin out.
The number of coins you start each race with depends on your starting position.
______________________________________________________________________________
Drifting
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This is a great way to overtake karts that are reasonably close infront of
you.
All you have to do, when another racer is infront of you, is line your kart up
dirrctly behind theirs, and after 1 or 2 seconds, your kart will get a slight
boost of speed, which will enable you to pull out to one side and overtake the
racer who was ahead of you.

Powersliding
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Mastering the powerslide is an almost essential skill to have, if you want to
have any chance at getting gold trophies on all of the 150cc cups.
How to perform: When approaching a corner, move to the inside of it. As the
corner starts to bend, tap the Right shoulder button, and the
direction the corner turns (left for left, right for right).
You will skid around the corner very nicely, and go from the
inside of the corner, towards the outside, but hopefully
you'll remain on the road.
Sometimes (on the sharper turns) you can get a speed boost at
the end of the turn, as long as you didn't let off the gas too
much, or hit the brakes during the turn.

Lightweights
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
_____
Peach
¯¯¯¯¯
.-----------------.
Speed: *****

Weight: *

'-----------------'
Nintendo Description: "Princess Peach is one of the speediest drivers on
the Super Circuit, but she has to be careful to
avoid contact with other karts. Once small bump
and she can be knocked off the track."
Pyro says: Peach is my number one choice of racers, in terms
of who is "best" to race with for me.
Peach is light, and very fast and she has great
handling. Peach can get pushed around a bit, but
she isn't as easily bullied as Toad.
For a beginner, and even an expert, Peach is a
great character to race with.
Jarred says: When the Princess isn't being held captive by
Bowser she must practise her go kart driving.
This time around she is quite good driver having
some of the best acceleration and sharpest
handling in the game. But being the petit princess
she is, she gets pushed around quite a bit by
the other racers. Being light in weight has its
advantages though, like not loosing too much
speed going of the track.
____
Toad
¯¯¯¯
.-----------------.
Speed: *****

Weight: *

'-----------------'
Nintendo Description: "Toad is a speed demon, but his small size makes
him vunerable to Bowser and DK's bullying ways.
Try not to bump into other drivers while
controlling the fun guy."
Pyro says: Toad is also very fast, and handles very well. The
problem however, is that being so damn small, he
is pushed around very easily (see: knocked off the
track when just about anyone touches him).
I don't recommend Toad, especially in the later
difficulty classes, as there is a lot of ramming
and the last thing you want is to be pushed around
like a feather on wheels.
Jarred says: Toad is my favourite lightweight. His top-notch
acceleration gives you a nice start off the
starting line and a quick boost back into the race
just incase you sink or a fall off the edge of the
course. The little guy also has great handling to
take care of those tight turns. So you say, "This
guy sounds great! What more could you want?" Just
a bit more fat I'm afraid. This guy gets knocked
around the track quite easily. So watchout for the
likes of Bowser and the other heavies if you
decide to use him.
_____
Yoshi
¯¯¯¯¯
.-----------------.
Speed: ****

Weight: **

'-----------------'
Nintendo Description: "Yoshi is a bit heavier than Toad and Peach, but
slightly slower as well. If you're willing to
sacrifice a little speed for increased stability,
give the dino a go."
Pyro says: I was really hoping Yoshi would be the way peach
is (but not knocked around quite so easily).
Unfortunately, yoshi handles worse than peach and
toad, and is slower as well.
Yoshi always seems to be my character of choice in
Mario games, and usually seems to be the best for
me as well. This time though, good old Yoshi
doesn't quite cut it.
Jarred says: Everybody's favourite green dinosaur is back. He
is a bit slower than the other lightweights and
his handling is a bit looser due to him being a
bit heavier. Still, if you don't want to bumped
around like Peach and Toad do against the heavier
racers but still want to have that lightweights
touch to it, then give Yoshi a whirl.
______________________________________________________________________________
Middleweights
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
_____
Mario
¯¯¯¯¯
.-----------------.
Speed: ***

Weight: ***

'-----------------'
Nintendo Description: "Mario is a well-balanced driver with equal Speed
and Weight attributes. He's a great choice for
beginning drivers looking to get a feel for the
road."
Pyro says: Mario will probably the first character a lot of
people who play MK:SC choose. Mario is well
rounded. He is not as fast as any of the
lightweights, nor does he handle as well.
Personally, I can't see too much point in using
Mario, unless you don't want to be pushed around
as much as the lightweights, but want better
handling, and acceleration than the heavyweights.
Jarred says: He's rescued Princess's, partyed, smashed a few
fellow Nintendo characters, and even plays both
golf and tennis. But most importantly (in this
game anyway), he can drive a go kart. Quite well
too. His speed and handling are balanced and
average. People who are new to Mario Kart might
want to choose Mario because he isn't slow in
acceleration like the heavyweights and he isn't
knocked around the track like a lightweight.
_____
Luigi
¯¯¯¯¯
.-----------------.
Speed: ***

Weight: ***

'-----------------'
Nintendo Description: "Like his brother, Luigi is a well-rounded driver.
He has average speed and weight, which makes his
kart very easy to keep under control."
Pyro says: Luigi is slimmer than his brother, and this is
reflected in the way he drives. Luigi handles a
bit better than Mario, and he has a bit more
speed, but he is also pushed around a bit easier
than Mario.
Jarred says: He's rescued Princess's, partyed, smashed a few
fellow Nintendo characters, done some ghost
busting and even plays both golf and tennis. But
most importantly (in this game anyway), he can
drive a go kart. WAIT A MINUTE! That looked a bit
familiar. As you can tell, Luigi is like his
brother, Mario, and just like Mario, his stats
are fairly even. His turning seems to be better
than Mario's but gets bumped around more.
______________________________________________________________________________
HeavyWeights
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
___________
Donkey Kong
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
.-----------------.
Speed: **

Weight: ****

'-----------------'
Nintendo Description: "Adventurer, rapper and master driver. Is there
anything that Donkey Kong can't do? DK is heavy
enough to avoid being pushed around, but he still
has decent speed."
Pyro says: Ah, Donkey Kong. Everybody loves Donkey Kong.
Right?
Just by looking at DK it is very obvious that he's
one big and heavy ape. Nobody pushes DK around.
DK handles fairly slippery, and I certainly don't
recommend him for the beginner. While his top
speed is nice, he takes a fair while to get going,
and it takes a skilled player to be able to keep
him on the road.
If you're sick of being pushed around, and are
getting to be quite good at MKSC then DK might
just be your ape. Not for beginners!
Jarred says: Donkey Kong, king of the swing, is back for more
racing with Mario and the gang. Like the previous
times, Donkey Kong handling isn't very sharp but
he has the best handling for a heaveyweight.
Also it takes him a bit longer to get started,
but once he gets going he can certainly drive
fast! DK is a fairly heavy guy (most gorillas
are you know) so he can't knocked around much.
My favourite heavyweight.
_____
Wario
¯¯¯¯¯
.-----------------.
Speed: **

Weight: ****

'-----------------'
Nintendo Description: "The most obnoxious driver on the Circuit, Wario
is always happy to guffaw at other drivers as
they eat his dust. He has great speed once he
gets going and -obviously - ample weight to stay
ontrack."
Pyro says: The FAT, evil relative of Mario and Luigi. Wario
handles fairly similar to DK (low acceleration,
relatively poor handling, and a decent top speed).
Again, I don't recommend Wario, at least not for
the novice gamer.
If however you have a craving to race as an evil
character, it's a choice between Wario and Bowser.
Jarred says: The imfamous Wario is described as "True heavy
power", and he sure is. His handling isn't as
good as Donkey Kong's and he has a poor
acceleration, but has a very nice top speed. Try
not to steer this guy off the track much, he
looses alot of speed.
______
Bowser
¯¯¯¯¯¯
.-----------------.
Speed: *

Weight: *****

'-----------------'
Nintendo Description: "With road rage pumping through his veins, Bowser
is the biggest brute on the track. It's
impossible to push him around, but his weighty
shell makes his acceleration suffer.
Pyro says: It would take a damn earthquake to move the
long-time nemesis of Mario, Bowser.
Bowser, is fat, heavy and sloooooooooow. Every
track seems like you're karting on ice when you're
driving with bowser. Sticking to the track
can be a painful task.
Of course he's not all bad (no pun intended).
In Time Trail mode, as long as you are a great
driver, Bowser can be a good idea to use, as his
top speed (if you can ever get to it) is pretty
high.
Jarred says: Bowser is the biggest, baddest racer on the
circuit. There is nobody faster than him. The sad
thing is that it can be a bit tricky reaching this
top speed. His acceleration and handling is quite
poor.
Too make things worse for the big fella is his
weight. Sure, know body can knock him around but
once those tires are off the track, they will want
to sink straight into the grass and sand.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
___________
Green Shell
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: Green shells are your classic projectile weapon.
The direction you shoot them is the direction they go.
If a shell misses someone, it will continue bouncing
around the place until it does hit someone.
You can hold shells behind your kart to make a shield
against attack from behind.
If you hold down on the d-pad when you shoot a single
green shell it will fire directly behind you, instead
of going forward.
___________________
Triple Green Shells
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: When you hit fire after picking up the triple green
shells they will begin rotating around your vehicle,
creating a rotating shield which, 9 times out of 10
will protect from from attacks from all directions.
Triple green shells are fired one at a time, and
cannot be fired backwards.
_________
Red Shell
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: Red shels are Mario Kart's equivalent of a homing
missile.
When fired in the general direction of another racer,
the red shell will trace their vehicle and always hit
them from behind.
You can hold single red shells behind you, to act
like a shield, just like green shells.
If you hold down on the d-pad and fire a red shell it
will remain exactly where you fired it, and will home
in on the next racer to approach it.

Triple Red Shells
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: When you hit fire after picking up the triple red
shells, just like the triple green shells, they will
begin rotating around your vehicle, creating a
rotating shield which, 9 times out of 10 will protect
from from attacks from all directions.
Triple red shells are fired one at a time, and
cannot be fired while holding down to make them
remain where you shot them until a racer comes past.
They act just like single red shells, and chase after
whoever you aimed them at.
_________________
Blue Spiked Shell
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: Most of the time, you'll only ever find this sucker
when you are in, or very close to last place, and
even then it is a rarity.
Of course, there is a reason it is so rare, see, when
you fire the spiked blue shell (also known as Spiny
Shell), it homes in on the racer who is in 1st
position, but not only does it attack them, but it
crashes into every kart along its way.
Of course, you can hold fire, and the blue spiked
shell will remain behind your kart, just like a red
or green shell, or a banana would, and anyone who
crashes into it will spin out, and the good thing
is that as well as providing a shield, and a weapon,
it will remain behind you, no matter how many times
karts, or weapons hit it.
If you hold down and fire the blue spiked shell, it
will remain where you left it behind your kart, and
when the player in first place comes past it next,
just like the red shell's secondary mode, it will
chase after them. Personally, I think using the
normal method is more favourable, because it hits
everyone ahead of you, rather than just the person in
1st place.
____
Star
¯¯¯¯
Description: Probably one of the more useful items to get.
The star gives you temporary invincibility, it also
increases your speed, and if anyone else touches you
while you're using a star, they will spin out just as
if you shot a shell at them.
The further back in the pack you are, the more likely
you are to get a star.
______
Banana
¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: What weapon based racing game would be complete with
the good old equivalent of an oil slick?
Just hitting the fire button when you've got a banana
will cause it to drop on the ground behind you, and
the next racer to ride over it will skid, and spin
out.
The secondary mode of fire for the banana, has almost
two functions.
If you hold forward when you shoot a banana, it will
shoot out and up and land a little distance infront
of you. The use for this? One you can throw it in the
path of oncomming racers, and two, you can throw it
at racers. If you hit them, they'll spin out too.
One interesting thing you might notice, is that
getting a banana while in last place is nigh
impossible.
___
Boo
¯¯¯
Description: Besides the blue shell, Boos are probably the rarest
item in the game.
Usually, you'll pick up a Boo when in the middle, to
the back of the pack. However, that's not to say that
you can't get them while in first place, they are
just more common when you're coming worse in the
race.
Use a boo, and you will steal an item from another
racer. Also, you'll become invisible, and while
invisible, you'll also be immune from attacks
from other races.
On top of that, using a Boo will attack the racer in
1st position, by both slowing them down for a while,
and taking coins from them.
________
Mushroom
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: Mushrooms just give you a one second speed boost.
You have to be careful using mushrooms, especially
near corners, or you could end up with disasterous
results.
_________
Lightning
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: Lightning is most commonly found when you're in the
back half of the pack.
Fire ligning, and the background of the level you're
in will flash, just as if lightning has stuck, and
all of the racers who aren't invincible, or using a
Boo will be zapped, they will then by shrunk, which
causes them to move much slower, and if you run into
someone who is small they will be spun out.
_____
Coins
¯¯¯¯¯
Description: These, you'll find scattered about every track you
race in. For each coin you collect, you'll gain a
tiny amount of top speed.
Coins also act as a buffer against being spun out
when another racer runs into you.
Instead of spinning out, you'll just drop a coin.
Coins collected are cumulative for each cup, and the
game keeps track of how many coins you collected in
total at the end of each cup.
________
Item Box
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Description: These are what you get items from. The sides of the
box rotate quickly in colour, going from red, yellow,
orange, blue and green.
Drive through an item box to pick up an item. Then
you'll be given an almost random weapon.

The first track in the entire game. This is where most people's first memory
of the game will be.
This course is geared towards the beginner, and rightfully so. Nice soft, and
easy turns. It will help you come to grips with the way the game works, and
help you get used to handling your kart.

Shy Guy Beach
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
I'd hate to be the mechanic who have to clean the sand out of every last nook
and cranny of the karts after a race along Shy Guy Beach.
This is your first introduction to a "non-course", where instead of racing on
a track, you race on another surface. You'll drive around a series of islands,
linked by shallow water. Stray too far off course and into the deep water and
you'll sink as fast as if you were in a heavy go-kart or something...
The course is pretty easy, providing you can stick to the sand, and not end
up on the bottom of the sea bed.
______________________________________________________________________________
Riverside Park
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Not to sound repetitive...but this is your first taste of slippery track.
You race on dirt, which at times will seem a bit much for the novice driver.
Until you've come to grips a bit more with turning, you will find it hard to
stick to the track, and stay off the grass.
You can royally screw up and end up in water, if you really go off course, but
once you've played it through a couple of times, Riverside Park will seem
like a piece of cake...

Bowser Castle 1
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This course couldn't be easier...well, not much easier. At first you may have
some problems with the right angle turns, but once you've got them down par
the first Bowser Castle track will be a breeze.
Oh, and try to avoid the thwomps that are waiting to make go-kart pancakes.

Mario Circuit will introduce you to some slightly more difficult turns, but
isn't going to give to too much trouble. Being a specifically designed go-kart
circuit, you'd have to say Mario Circuit has been designed for the amature
racer.
Keep an eye out for the boost pad, that is found on a piece of track that
branches off to the left of the track, towards the very end of the race.

Boo Lake
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Set at night, along an eerie dark wooden track, raised high above a dark
valley, Boo Lake will fill your pants with poo.
Ok, maybe not.
This track is fairly basic, but until you know it's layout, may give you
some minor trouble. If you think this is bad, you are in for one hell of a
shock later on.
______________________________________________________________________________
Cheese Land
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Cheese Land is entirely made out of mountainous piles of cheese, with plenty
of huge craters, and the occasional flat plain.
I presume you've all raced on cheese before, so I don't need to tell you how
slippery it is, right? As well as the slippery track, you have to watch out
for blue mice, who walk back and fourth across the track, and will cause you
to spin out if you hit one of them.
Cheese land is of average difficulty, but will give the beginner some trouble.
______________________________________________________________________________
Bowser Castle 2
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Bowser Castle 2 is more like it. There's planty of lava hopping, as well as
turns that can be difficult at first. As well as those, there are a couple of
thwomps to flatten you if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Still nothing too hard, but I'm sure this track will be up there with one of
the harder track you'll have encountered to this point.

even more slippery puddles?
Oh, good then. That means you know how Luigi Circuit will be. if you hit one
of the many puddles scattered around the circuit, you'll spin out. At first I
had a bit of trouble with Luigi Circuit, but once I knew the layout of the
track, and how to powersilde properly I was fine.
______________________________________________________________________________
Sky Garden
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
On this track you race along a track made of clouds, floating high above the
earth. It goes without saying that you don't want to fall off the track. Sky
garden is slightly slippery, but overall a very easy track. Catchy music too!
______________________________________________________________________________
Cheep-Cheep Island
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Named after the giant fish that swims in the waters of this peaceful island,
Cheep-Cheep is quite a nice track.
It's quite easy to end up in the deep water that surrounds most of the island
if you're not careful, as the slippery track, along with the sometimes sharp
turns are designed to put you in the drink, if not navigated preperly.
Overall however, Cheep-Cheep Island is easy.
______________________________________________________________________________
Sunset Wilds
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Sunset wilds is set through three stages of sunset (the sunset progressed each
lap you complete), the track looks great. Sunset Wilds is in the wild west,
out in desert area. You can see beautiful rock formations in the distance, and
so on.
The track is slippery, as you are racing on dirt. There is one section with a
huge line of boost pads, which will give you an insane kick of speed, but
you'll have to watch out for the Shy Guy teepees, which, if driven into will
end up loosing you quite a few coins, and a bit of time as well.

Snow Land
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Snow Land is probably the most slippery track in the game. You race on a
track of ice, with thick snow lining the outside of the track.
Come off the track and into the snow and you'll slow down quite a lot.
There are also huge puddles along parts of the track, which are so deep your
entire kart can become submerged in them.
Snow Land is fairly difficult, and until you know the track well. I'm sure a
few people will have some difficulty with it.

Ribbon Road
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The track is lined with giftwrapped boxes, and the actual track itself is made
of red ribbon.
What's so special about this ribbon is the fact that it is super grippy. This
means you'll be able to take sharp turns with ease.
Ribbon road quite an easy track, escpecially with the sticky track, not the
mention the insane shortcut.

Yoshi Desert
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Set in the Yoshi version of Egypt, Yoshi Desert is how one would expect it to
be. There are huge pyramids in the distance, as well as a Yoshi sphinx.
You race on sand, and as you can figure out, it is more slippery than most
tracks. If you happen to come off the track, you'll need to watch out for the
quicksand whirlpools...
Yoshi Desert isn't all that hard, as by this stage in the game you should
probably have gotten the hang of powersliding on slippery surfaces anyway.

Slippery track + lots of turns, big, small, tight and sharp. Lakeside park

shouldn't be easy at all.

Broken Pier
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There are plenty of places to fall of the track that is broken pier. Though as
is the case with most track, once you've driven through it a few times, and
got to know the layout of the track, you shouldn't have too hard of a time
winning races consistantly.
There are a lot of boos that linger around the place, and every so often one
of them might hover above you, and slow you down.

Bowser Castle 4

The final Bowser Caslte in the normal track cups, Bowser Castle 4 is no
pushover.
There are tight, thin turns, lots of areas where you can, at any moment end up
in the toasty warm lava, as well as obstacles. But as always, with practice
this track will seem easier, and easier.

Rainbow Road
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
I was expecting a Rainbow Road track, and thankfully I got what I wanted.
Complete with transperent track, and victory-ish music, Rainbow Road is the
final race, in the final cup in the normal track races.
The track is reasonably easy, providing you don't choke too much going around
some of the tighter corners.
Rainbow Road also leaves you open to quite a few, large shortcuts if you use
your head (or this FAQ :P).
Enjoy your last normal track race... and make the best of it.

This track is so easy it hurts...but I suppose, it's just the "intro track"
to the SNES tracks, so that can be justified I guess :P
Apart from a sever lack of anything past very basic turns, and no obsticles
to get in your way, and the fact that the track itself is rather wide, this
very short track is extremely easy and shouldn't be any trouble for you at
all.

Donut Plains 1
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Good, fun riverside racing.
There are some nice turns on this track. You will notice that the track itself
is actually dirt, which will take away a good chunk of your grip. You'll need
to know how to take big, slippery turns if you want to be sucessful on Donut
Plains 1.
It's a pity that the only bridge in the level has wall on it's sides, so you
can't fall into the water, but this is still an early track in the scheme of
things.
______________________________________________________________________________
Ghost Valley 1
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Another faily straigh forward track, that is pretty easy.
All turns are 90 degrees, and have walls to stop you falling off the edge of
the wooden pier you are on, and into the cold water below.
There is a tiny jump over a gap in the track at one point, but with a jump
before it, you should have no trouble. Easy stuff.

Bowser Castle 1
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Again, this is an easy, easy track.
All turns are 90 degrees, and the entire track has walls that stop you from
going off course and falling into the toasty warm lava.
Of course there is the risk of falling into the lava if you manage to jump
over on of the jumps before a gap in the track (with lava below). But in all
honsety, that isn't very likely to happen.

Mario Circuit 2 is thankfully a bit more difficult than the first Mario

There are some snaking twists and turns in the track, and a crossed over
section of track that you'll get to jump over. If you can stick to the track
through the turns, and not end up on the sand too much then you'll be fine.

Choco Island 1
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
I'm not too fond of the Choco Island tracks..though the first Choco Island
track isn't too bad.
The track is made up slippery dirt (well, chocolate actually), and if you
happen to skid off the road you'll be greeted by some very slow, boggy dark
chocolate. This track isn't all that hard, but it can be easy to stuff up and
skid off the track if you're not careful.
______________________________________________________________________________
Ghost Valley 2
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This is the second ghost valley track, and is still reasonably easy. Most of
the corners have walls, and the few that don't aren't likely to cause you too
much frustration.
There are one or two holes that come in from the side of the track which
you'll have to aviod falling into, but besides that, this track is pretty
simple.

Donut Plains 2
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
As expected, Donut Plains 2 progresses in difficulty over the first Donut
Plains track.
Sticking to the slippery track can be a pain at times, if you're not careful,
because you'll have to take each turn with skill.
I wouldn't say this track is quite hard, but it's certainly not an easy one.

Bowser Castle 2
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This isn't exactly easy, or hard.
There are a quite a few small jumps over lava, and some tight turns, but
winning on this track isn't difficult. As long as you can navigate the turns
(with the assistance of powerslide turns) you'll have everything under control.
______________________________________________________________________________
Mario Circuit 3
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
I'd have to say this track is of about average difficulty.
There are heaps of twists, turns and bends in Mario Circuit 3, and straights
are a rarity.
As long as you have your powersliding down pat, then you should be fine. As is
the case with all of the Mario Circuits, there is sand on the outside of the
track, so if you come off the road, expect to pay the consequences.

Koopa Beach 1
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This course is made up mostly of a series of relatively thin islands, and one
wide island with water lillys dividing the path into two. With shallow waters
inbetween the gaps in islands, and deep water if you stray a little off course
to the left or right.
The course itself is both short, and easy. I doubt you'll run into any
problems on Koopa Beach 1.
______________________________________________________________________________
Choco Island 2
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This track will give a lot of people some degree of trouble.
With Choco Island 2 returns the slippery track, and the dark chocolate that
lies around the outside of the track, which will slow you done a hell of a lot
of you slip out onto it.
The thing that makes Choco Island 2 as difficult as it is, is the slippery
track, and the stuff around the outside which will slow you right down if you
drive on it. There is one area in the track with a tight turn that leads into
a very thin area of the track. It is VERY easy to slid off the road here, and
as a result slow down a lot.
With a bit of practice Chocho Island 2 will seem a lot easier, but will still
be a pain in the arse.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Despite the fact that you're racing on ice, Vanilla Lake 1 is fairly simple.
Vanilla Lake 1 is a faily short, and basic track. It's pretty much a circular
square...*cough*
Yes the track is slippery because it's ice, and yes, if you run into the snow
on the outside of the track (and in some cases on small parts of the track)
you will slow down, but staying on the track actually isn't all that hard.
There are little square blocks of ice in patches on the track as well, and if
you run into the they stop you, but break, so next time they won't be there.
Of course you can navigate through them without touching a single one.
Vanilla Lake 1 is a nice, easy into to the Star Cup.

Bowser Castle 3
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
You shouldn't have too much difficulty with Bowser Caslte 3 once you know
where all of the 'difficult at first' turns are, and how to navigate them.
There are plenty of 90 degree turns, and lots of lava jumping, but overall the
track shouldn't prove to be anything more than average in difficulty.
______________________________________________________________________________
Mario Circuit 4
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This is more like it. Not too hard, but a very good challenge.
There are loads of big, but sharp turns, as well as some thin spots in the
track.
You'll probably have to run through Mario Circuit a few times before you know
how to navigate all of the turns flawlessly, and avoid coming off into the
sand.
This is my kind of track, difficulty wise at least.
______________________________________________________________________________
Donut Plains 3
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There are a nice lot of big turns to be had on the slippery dirt track, some
of which lead out onto bridges which have no walls to stop you falling into
the water. The two turn that lead out onto the bridges are the hardest on the
track, as it's very easy to end up in the drink.
As always, with practice, the difficulty of this track will be considerably
reduced, but that won't stop the occasional screw up. :p

Koopa Beach 2
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Once you know your way around Koopa Bach 2, you'll find it to be pretty
straight forward.
For the most part, you race around an island, with water out to your right,
and water lillys to your left.
At one stage you race out across an area of shallow water, with pools of deep
water dotting the area. If you know what you're doing, avioding these deep
areas of water will be easy however.

Ghost Valley 3
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There are lots of turns in the track, most of which don't have rails to stop
you from sliding off the edge of the peir you race on.
As well as the tricky turns, there are loads of big holes in the track, which
are ALWAYS right in your path. Hell, there are even jumps that lead straight
into them.
This, at least for me is the track that makes Special Cup (150cc) so hard.
Even with loads of practice, I still have a hard time with this. And don't
even get me started on being bumped off the track, or into a hole by another
racer.

Vanilla Lake 2
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Vanilla Lake 2 is certianly more difficult than the first, but is by no means
hard.
You still race on slippery ice, there is still thick snow on the outside of
the tracks, there are still the blocks of ice clustered together around the
track, but one thing you'll notcie more is that you race around a giant icy
cold lake, which has many star shaped corners, which you can risk jumping over
for extra time, but if you fall in you'll have a cold time.
Overall Vanilla Lake 2 isn't terribly difficult.

Rainbow Road
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The final track in the game. Rainbow road can be intimidating at first, as the
entire track has no safety rails on the outside of it, so one false move and
you're floating out in space. But it really isn't all that hard.
All turns are 90 degrees, and reasonably wide. There is one split in the track
which has a hole in the middle of it, but other than that it's smooth sailing
(or should that be karting) all the way.
Very "interesting" music too...

RANKINGS
______________________________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There is some degree of how exactly the rankings in Mario Kart: Super Circuit
work, and how exactly you can achieve each of them.
I'll try to help you understand how they work, and how easy/hard it it to
achieve each of them.
______________________________________________________________________________
How to get higher rankings
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Basically to get ranking you need to follow a few little things carefully.
* You will need to have consistantly good (low time) laps and overall race
times for each of the 4 races in each cup.
* Don't use the brake button. It slows you down too much.
* Don't go off the track onto the grass/dirt/snow.
* Try and collect as many coins as you can. They increase your speed, giving
you some faster lap times. Don't go out of your way to get them though if it
might slow you down trying to get them.
* Don't use any items at all. The first item you get is what you stick with
until the race is over. So keep you finger off the L button if you want those
triple stars.
* You can use one or two 'try again's' if you need to, but doesn't use them all
up. I found that after I used up all three, I couldn't get the triple star
rank, no matter how good I raced.

Descriptions
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
_
E - E is the worst rank you can possibly get. No matter if you were this close
¯ *makes tiny gap between two fingers on one of his hands* to getting a D
or no bloody where near it. If you finish a cup, the worst you can
possibly get is an E.
_
D - A D is pretty bad. It reminds me of most of the grades I get in school >:P
¯ D obviously is higher than an E, but you really shouldn't be proud of
getting a D, and infact I'd be ashamed if I were you! :P
_
C - C is still a faily poor rank to get. With little real effort, and not too
¯ many terrible lap times, you should be able to get a C.
_
B - Still nothing to gloat about, a B does however require a little skill to
¯ be awarded. You can stil have faily average lap and race times and walk
away with a B.
_
A - When you're still new to MKSC, I suppose an A can be difficult to achieve.
¯ But as long as you have decent lap and race times, you'll probably be able
to pick up an A ranking with relative ease.
_
* - Now we're talking. Of course, getting an star is not what I'd call hard.
¯ But it certainly isn't easy either. You'll need good lap and race times,
and by this stage, you'll probably want to be getting really good at the
game if you're looking to get a star ranking.
__
** - This is where things start to get hard. To get a double star ranking,
¯¯ you'll need great and consistant lap and race times. Double star might
seem impossible at first, but let me tell you that eventually getting them
won't be all too hard. It's not going to be easy, don't get me wrong, but
with skill, and a tiny bit of luck you shouldn't find it too difficult to
get a double star ranking.
___
*** - The ultimate goal. The pinnacle of Mario Kart perfection. You will be
¯¯¯ spending months and months hard at work if you want triple star rankings
on every level in the game.
You'll need near perfect lap and race times, and a hell of a lot of
skill.

Shy Guy Beach
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Method: From the start of the race, drive forward, and when you're coming to
the end of the second island, turn left (just after the two coconut
trees), and jump out onto the small, round island in the water here,
then jump off at the end of it, and head forward.
This shortcut works best if you use a mushroom, and avoid driving in
the water as much as possible (use a mushroom just as you go out to
the island, jump before you hit the water, then jump again as you come
to the end of the small island.
______________________________________________________________________________
Riverside Park
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Shortcut #1 Method: From the start of the race, head around the first corner.
Keep heading forward until you come to the start of the
second turn (it turns off to the left). Now look forward
(towards the water), you should be able to see a narrow
wooden bridge pointing out into the water. With a closer
examination you'll see that there are 7 brown tiles
floating out in the water, and over the other side is
another part of a bridge.
Line yourself up with the bridge, and use a mushroom as
you are on the bridge. Hit jump and hopefully you'll jump
the tiles and land on the bridge on the other side.
Don't worry if you don't quite land on the bridge over the
other side, because you can still drive onto it and have
still saved some time.
Shortcut #2 Method: After going over the jump which takes you over water,
drive forward, as you come to the start of the turn (that
goes right) head forward, and to the right just a little.
Facing the water you should be able to see a line of
shallow water which will allow you to drive over it, and
skip the next turn.
This will save you a few seconds, and is VERY easy to do.

Method: Just as you are approaching the final straight in the track you'll see
a very thin bit of track spiltting off to your right. If you follow it
you'll see a boost pad, which will give you a nice little speed boost.
Providing you manage to stick to the very hin track, this shortcut can
save you a few 100ths of a second :P
______________________________________________________________________________
Boo Lake
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Shortcut #1 Method: When you come to the area in the track where there is a
large, square hole in the track, and the track splits in
two are goes around either side of it, you can save a very
small amount of time by using a mushroom as you approach
the hole, hitting the jump at the start of the hole and
turning left a little as you go over the jump, as you will
land on the left turn, thus skipping the tiniest amount of
track.
Shortcut #2 Method: Also when you come to the split track just before there
first shortcut there is an invisible bridge that cuts the
corner. If you wait there for a few seconds it glows blue
so you can see it. Thanks to Rory for send us that one.
Shortcut #3 Method: As you come to the end of the straight section of track
with the four boos (holding candles), instead of heading
right around the hole in the track, head left, and go
across the thin wooden bridge. This will save you taking
the turn here.

Cheese Land
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Shortcut #1 Method: As you come to the first jump in the track (where you jump
over a section of the track) use a mushroom just before
you hit the turbo pads and jump and turn right as you are
in the air. This will allow you to skip part of the turn
here.
Shortcut #2 Method: As you come to the second jump across track, again use a
mushroom just before you hit the boost strip and jump, and
as you are in the air, turn sharply to the left. This
will allow you to skip almost all, if not all of the turn
here.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Method: Make your way through the track, and as you are driving up the long
straight before the second last turn (see your map if you need too ;)
you will find that there is a small gap in the wall straight ahead of
you (before you go right to take the turn). Just drive through
carefully and you'll have skipped on small turn.
______________________________________________________________________________
Sky Garden
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Shortcut #1 Method: After jumping the gap in the track (towards the start of
the track), instead of taking the turn to your right,
head straight ahead, use a mushroom right as you hit the
edge of the cloud, jump and turn left a little. You will
be able to jump over and land on the next section of
track, skipping a fairly large turn.
Shortcut #2 Method: At one of the turns in the track, there is a little jump
on the inside parts of the turn. As you approach it, use
a mushroom, aim directly ahead and as you go over the jump
turn slightly to your left, and you should land on the
track ahead of you. This will save nice a chunk of time.
Shortcut #3 Method: As you come to the final turn of the track, on the inside
of the turn (to your left) you will see a cloud floating,
which is bridging the gap between the turn. Jump onces to
land on the cloud, and again to land back on the other
side of the track.
______________________________________________________________________________
Cheep-Cheep Island
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Shorcut #1 Method: Cross the first two bridges, and on the thrid island to your
left, out across the water is a tiny gap in the wall. You'll
have to boost out towards the wall first time so you know
exactly where the gap in the wall is. Anyway, getting back
to where we were...
On the third island, once you know where the gap is, aim for
it, use a mushroom to boost out, and jump as you boost.
Hopefully you'll be able to both skim across the water,
AND find the gap in the wall. Once through the gap, follow
the thin area of sand to your left, on the outside of this
green island until you come to the area where the rainbow
wall end. Here, boost out past the end of the wall, onto the
water, and skim across and turn to your right, and back onto
land.
Shortcut #2 Method: Follow the normal track course, and once you get towards
the bottom of the map, and have turned left and gone
across a small bridge, keep going FORWARD, not left, and
you will see a small jump. Mushroom across to the wooden
pier. Thanks to Richard Sanderson for very nice that
shortcut.

Sunset Wilds
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Method: When you come to the end of the area with the Shy Guy teepees, and
boost pads, look to your right and you will see a jump that will
allow you to fly over the rainbow wall, thus bypassing the turn. If you
use a mushroom over the jump and turn a sharp left, you'll be even
further ahead of the other racers. Thanks to Brandon Masters for the
extra tip on that shortcut.

Snow Land
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Shortcut #1 Method: You will come to a right turn, at which point, to your
left you'll see two frozen, dark blue puddles. Drive
inbetween them, and you will be able to drive along a
straight of ice (which won't slow you down at all).
This will save you a tiny bit of time.
Shortcut #2 Method: After the first three turns (rght, left right) you'll be
at about the top of the on screen map. Instead of turning
right and going around the corner, go straight ahead.
Here, you'll se a gap in the rainbow wall. Go through the
gap, along the dark blue track, and turn right when you
have to. You'll see a line of about 5 or so boost pads,
right infront of each other.
You know what to do.

Ribbon Road
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Method: When you come to the first jump across track area, as you hit the

This shortcut will save you a ****ing arseload of time, and is damn
easy to pull off.

Yoshi Desert
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Method: Near the end of the track there is an oasis, which Is presumably a
mirage, but your car seems to think it's real. If you turn left,
you'll see the edge of the oasis touching the rainbow wall.
At this area the amount of water you have to jump over is smallest,
and so when here, use a mushroom to boost and jump over the water next
to the wall.
And one last thing, watch out for the whirlpool of quicksand near the
oasis.

Method: At the section with about 5 jumps, and on the last jump, you can bounce
over to the other side of the long hairpin. You have to hit it just

difficult to pull off, so give it some time to work. Thanks to Richard
Sanderson for sending in that shourtcut.

Lakeside Park
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Shortcut #1 Method: From the start of the level, head around the first corner
(right), and the next wind in the road. Cross the bridge
and then look to your right.
You'll see water, and across it more track.
Use a mushroom boost and jump out across the water for
the track across the other side. If timed correctly this
shortcut is reasonably easy to do.
Shortcut #2 Method: When you come to the jump across the track, as you hit the
boost pad, and jump, turn left, and you'll save yourself
part of the turn, and thus a few milliseconds.
Shortcut #3 Method: This shortcut is a bit tricky to pull off. What you need to
do is just before the last hairpin before the bit where you
have a booster and you jump over a section of the track,
take that last hairpin WIDE. That way you’re lined up for
the single booster which is on the right side. Hit the
single
booster, followed by the booster before the jump and then
pull just a tad to the right. If you time it correctly you
can land on a bit of a wall, but if landed perfectly you’ll
see two jump pad lines there, land on those and you’ll jump
over to the track again, thus shaving off a huge corner.
Thanks to PalmBeer for that shortcut.

Broken Pier
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Shortcut #1 Method: A bit before half way around the track, you should see a
bunch of coins forming an arrow shape. The arrow is
pointing at a jump that leads off the edge. Off the edge,
there is a platform floating. The idea is to hit the jump
the arrows point at with a mushroom and land safely on the
platform off the track. Once one that platform, you'll get
a speed boost which will send you to the other side of the
track, cutting off a far bit of the track. This shortcut
can be tricky to pull off. Thanks to Lee Kirwan for the
infomation on that shortcut.
Shortcut #2 Method: Just after the first shorcut, you see a lonely boo floating
next to the edge. On the otherside you'll see the rest of
the track. If you wait awhile you'll see that there is an
invisible bridge that glows blue occasionally. It leads to
the other side of the track through a small gap in the wall
on the other side. Head straight at the bridge and you can
drive safely across it. Thanks to Lee Kirwan for the
infomation on that shortcut as well.
Shortcut #3 Method: Towards the end of the track is a hole in the track. To
the right is the "normal" path, and to the left of the
hole (pretty much straight ahead) is a thin wooden bridge.
If you take the wooden bridge you'll save an ittby bitty
bit of time.

For most of these shortcuts, you will need to use a mushroom boost to be able
to make it as far as you need to land on track.
All of the shortcuts have a very simple idea: use the jump pads that line most
of the track to jump out across onto another section of track which will end
up saving you quite a bit of time.
Of course, use your head, and you'll realise that there are more, but much
smaller shortcuts on the small twists and turns in the track using the same
method.

I'm not going to list the specific shortcuts in this level, because there are
almost infinite possibilities.
Whenever you see water to your right, you can probably use a mushroom and skim
over to the other side.

Choco Island 2
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Method: From the start of the level, drive directly forward, and you'll go
through a gap in the rainbow wall. How easy is that?

Mario Circuit 4
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Method: On the curved area that begins on the bottom left (on the map), when
you come to the first curve (that goes to the left) continue driving
straigh (onto the dirt) and through the gap in the rainbow wall.

Donut Plains 3
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Method: Once you get to the second bridge with the jump, use a mushroom and
turn left sharply going over the jump. If done right, you'll fly over
a rainbow wall, then just over another rainbow wall and be right near
the finish line. This one can be a bit tricky to pull off. Thanks to
Bradon Masters for that shortcut.

Avoid skidding out when you hit a banana
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
As soon as you hit a banana (or other object that will spin you out) tap the
B button, and a musical not should apear above your characters head.
If you see the note, you know you're safe, and have avoided spinning out.
This tip also works for other things, like the crabs you'll find on beaches
etc.

Turbo Start
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Like to get off to a great start? Well, here's how.
At the start of the race, Lakitu has a set of lights, that turn on as a "beep"
noise is made. There are three lights, and on the third light the race starts.
To get a turbo start, hit the accelerater exactly halfway inbetween the 2nd
and 3rd light lighting up:
*Beep*......*Beep*...PRESS A...*Beep*
If you did it right, you'll certainly know about it.
______________________________________________________________________________
Boost Recovery
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
If you fall into water, off a track that is raised up above the ground, into
lava etc, Lakitu will float down on his cloud and pull you back up onto the
track. To get a speed boost, and get on the road to recovery a lot faster,
wait till Lakitu is putting you back on the track, and just as the wheels of
your kart touch the track, hit A. If you timed it perfeclty (which is rather
hard) you'll be given a speed boost.
______________________________________________________________________________
Delete all game data
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
If for some reason you want to erase your game data, don't bother sticking the
game cartridge in a barrel of acid...no, just turn on the system while holding
L + R + B + Start. When you do this a screen will pop up asking it it's ok to
erase all saved data.
______________________________________________________________________________
Get "sunset" sky in title screen
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
To get the sunset sky in the title screen, you'll need to get gold trophies
on all of the GameBoy Advance specific cups, on 50, 100 and 150cc difficutly.
______________________________________________________________________________
Get "night time" sky in title screen
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There aren't many people at all, who are going to end up getting the nightime
sky in the title screen. But if you think you're good enough, and up to the
challenge, then here's what you have to do:
GET THE TRIPLE STAR RATING ON EVERY SINGLE CUP OF THE SUPER CIRCUIT TRACKS!
Good 'efin luck :P
