Version 1.0 (5/13/02): For the most part, this FAQ is entirely complete! I
know I'm missing around 40 cars, but I am still trying to unlock them as I
type this. They are probably going to be opened by unlocking secrets, so I'll
add them if I find them; otherwise this FAQ is done!
Version 0.99 (5/9/02): All of the Professional Class information is added
here, making the Championship mode complete! I still have yet to unlock about
40 cars, so this guide isn't ready for a final marking just yet.
Version 0.7 (5/6/02): The entire Highspeed Class, along with all cars, parts,
and tracks up to that point are here! In the next few updates, I should be
able to complete this game/FAQ!
Version 0.5 (5/4/02): All of the Middle Class tracks, as well as the license
tracks of the Highspeed Class are included with this update! All cars,
tracks, and parts up to that point are here as well.
Version 0.2 (5/2/02): The first, rather empty version of this FAQ. The entire
Beginner's Class worth of tracks/cars/parts are in this first update, more to
come soon.

-= 2. Introduction -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The second installment in the GT Advance series has just been recently
released in Japan. There are many things added upon since the previous
version, including many tracks, twice as many cars as before, more tuning
parts, and so on. The gameplay itself is just as tight as the first GTA game,
so if you liked the first one, chances are youll REALLY enjoy playing this
one!

Championship
------------
Here, you can race in one of four classes (only Beginner is open early in the
game) against 7 other computer controlled racers. The first few races in each
class are license-qualifying ones, where you practice driving and such. Then
you play on 8 more tracks in each class, unlocking cars and parts along the
way. You must go through 3 laps on each regular track, and must place either
1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in order to progress. If you get 4th-8th place, you
lose. You also unlock one or more secrets if you come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd
place; here's a quick list of what you get for each rank:
1st Place: New track, new car, new part
2nd Place: New track, new part
3rd Place: New track
4th-8th Place: Lost; win nothing
Quick Race
----------
This is more of a practice run for the Championship mode, since you race
against the 7 other cars, but it doesn't count towards/against you here. You
can only race on tracks you've already unlocked though.
Time Attack
-----------
Choose an already open track to race on, and try to beat the best records in
lap/total race times. You are all alone in this mode, so you can concentrate
on going quick instead of passing other vehicles.
Practice
--------
As the name implies, it's a practice mode! You're alone in a square arena,
and you can just ride around anywhere to practice with whatever car you
chose. You should select this mode first if you never played this game
before, so you can get an idea of how to handle racing.
Dri-Combo
---------
This is a rather interesting new addition to this sequel. Here, you go for 3
laps on an empty track with lots of turns. The idea here is to slide often
(drifting) around the turns and such to rack up combos. To the left of the
speedometer appears a "D" whenever you start to slide. When it becomes
totally red, you have successfully drifted. Before it totally fades, drift
again and you'll pull off a combo. This may be tough since after each turn is
a straight path, but if you can keep drifting side to side, you can rack up
some nice combos. Get practicing and you'll soon get the hang of it, then you
can rack up high combo amounts and unlock some goodies (see the Secrets
section of this guide for details)!
Extra
-----
In the start of the game, this option is still locked. If you see the Secrets
section of this guide, perhaps you can find out some extras you can unlock.
Link
----
Link up with up to 3 other Gameboy Advance units and participate in a race
against other human/computer opponents. I don't have much of any information
here, but if someone has played this mode and can send in stuff regarding it,
it'd definitely be appreciated!
Save
----
As the name implies, you can save your current data here.
Options
-------
View the best times for every track, adjust sound settings, and even delete
all saved data in this mode.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Note: For the Part/Car Unlocked listings for each track, that's what you open
up after beating that track in Championship mode in 1st or 2nd place.
You get a new car, part, and track if you get 1st, a new part and track
for 2nd, and just a new track for 3rd.
================
Beginner's Class
================
License Basic 1
Test Car: midget II (Daihatsu)
Description: The very first license basic course is a simple straightaway
for you. All you have to do is drive straight to the finish
line, and that's it!
License Basic 2
Test Car: MOVE (Daihatsu)
Description: For this basic course, you follow the path along an
incredibly easy left curve, then to the finish. Nothing to
it, just don't spin out and you'll be more than fine.
License Basic 3
Test Car: wagonR RR (Suzuki)
Description: This track is the same exact thing as the previous one. The
only difference is that it's a right turn this time, and
it's a little more tight than the simply left curve.
Hornet
Car Unlocked: (Normal): COROLLA LEVIN *TUNED* (Toyota)
(Expert): midget II *TUNED* (Daihatsu)
Description: On this first regular course, it is obviously a simple one,
as most beginner tracks are. The turns are somewhat tight,
and there are a couple of U-turns as well to deal with.
Speed up the straightaways and gently hit the brakes to make
it safely around the turns, and you will be alright.
Local Dog
Part Unlocked: Filter (Special)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): MAX (Daihatsu)
(Expert): ROADSTER *TUNED* (Mazda)
Description: This city-themed course seems to feel easier than the
previous one, in my opinion. There are plenty of turns, most
are consecutive, so you must have quick reflexes to get
through them all fast enough. The turns aren't too difficult
either way, so you should have no problems winning this one.
Big Core
Car Unlocked: (Normal): MR-S (Toyota)
(Expert): MARCH *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: This next track is a bit more on the easy side as well, with
its long straightaways in the beginning, and very few turns.
The turns the track has are not very sharp, and there are a
couple U-turns as well. Also, in the middle of the course,
the track becomes narrow (after the turn following the first
U-turn), so be careful for that, too.
Plastic Bomb
Part Unlocked: CPU (Special)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): ROADSTER MPS (Mazda)
(Expert): SILVIA *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: On this rainy track, you are faced with many turns that are
a bit tough compared to the previous races. The actual turns
aren't too bad, but the idea that they're all consecutive is
what makes it difficult. After the first lap or so, you'll
be used to the turns, so you can get the timing right and
win!
Night Kids
Car Unlocked: (Normal): SILVIA (Nissan)
(Expert): Vits *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: Here, you race along a rather twisted highway in the night
time, headlights and all! There are several turns which are
no big deal, but be careful at the halfway point since there
are 3 consecutive hairpin turns to deal with. Take those
slow, then speed up on the straighter paths, and you can
pull through.
Hello World
Part Unlocked: Muffler (Steel)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): IMPREZA WRX STi version VI
(Expert): MR2 (Toyota)
Description: This course is a bit easier than the last couple city-themed
ones, but it still has its tough turns. There are a couple
hairpins, as well as some zig-zags. For those, slow down
coming into it, then speed up for the second turn of the
zig-zag to get through well enough. You also have a good
opportunity to speed up on the straightaways halfway through
the course, so that can help make up for lost ground from
the tight turns.
Doco Moco
Car Unlocked: (Normal): MR wagon SUZUKI SPORT (Suzuki)
(Expert): Supra *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: From the looks of the course map, every turn is a tight one
here. There is a good long straight path in the beginning,
but then the turns come, one after another, and they get
pretty tough if you're not used to them. You'll need a
couple laps to get used to the turns and when they pop up,
so you can be prepared to speed up/slow down when necessary.
Peak Peak
Part Unlocked: Suspension (Spring)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): COPEN (Daihatsu)
(Expert): SILVIA *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: The final Beginner's Class course is naturally going to be
the most difficult course you've played thus far. Apart from
the long, fairly straight path in the beginning, you're up
against a ton of tough and tight turns. You will most likely
spend the majority of the time going slow trying to navigate
the winding roads, but do try and keep up the pace in order
to get in the lead and complete this class!
============
Middle Class
============
License Corner 1
Test Car: SPRINTER TRUENO (Toyota)
Description: For this first license course of the Middle Class, you must
make it through a sharp left turn. Speed up and stay to the
right side of the track, then start the turn just before you
reach it, and you'll make it without slamming into the
barrier.
License Corner 2
Test Car: ROADSTER (Mazda)
Description: Here, you must make a tight hairpin turn and then the end of
the track in time. Stay to the left, then when you come to
the turn itself, stay as far to the left as you can, and
tightly turn left so you make it around. Try not to use your
brakes here; just turn as tightly as you can without
spinning out and speed up on the last stretch to get a gold.
License Corner 3
Test Car: CIVIC TypeR (Honda)
Description: On this course, you go along a wide path with a slight
curve. Towards the end, you are faced with a sharp right
turn, so speed up and before the right turn sign shows up
onscreen, start to turn. Stay as far to the right in the
turn as you can, and you'll make it just fine.
Micro Coat
Car Unlocked: (Normal): S2000 (Honda)
(Expert): Savanna RX-7 (Mazda)
Description: The opening track of the Middle Class is a breeze, to be
frank here. The track itself is rather wavy, and the
hairpins that are around, are wide enough so you won't have
to really slow down. It's a speed course, so no worries to
be had here.
Gateway
Part Unlocked: LSD (Special)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): CELICA (Toyota)
(Expert): LANCER TURBO (Mitsubishi)
Description: This course is another simple, speedy one to get through.
The turns are wide and there are several good straightaways,
with only a couple more major turns to deal with. Besides
those, you can catch up to the lead car quite quickly and
win this race!
Runner Way
Car Unlocked: (Normal): Supra (Toyota)
(Expert): SILEIGHTY *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: Now, this course gives you no rest with all the cornering
and hairpin turns you have to get through. You have little
space to just speed up, so you must keep accelerating
through these turns to win the race. You may want to play
the track a couple times to get used to the order of the
turns, then come back for the championship and speed through
it.
Spurt Maze
Part Unlocked: Engine (Light Tune)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): CIVIC TypeR (Honda)
(Expert): Fairlady 240Z (Nissan)
Description: The courses only get harder as you progress through the
game, and this is one good example of that. In the
beginning, there is an easy turn and a curve, but then the
tight turns begin. When the exclamation point comes up, stay
to the left and be ready for the tight right turn. After
another couple turns, be prepared for a REALLY tight hairpin
to the left. From there, it's a couple easy turns and
straightaways for the rest of the lap. Slow down during the
hairpin and the beginning of the first tight turn, and
you'll be just fine.
Beat Sweet
Car Unlocked: (Normal): RX-8 (Mazda)
(Expert): LEGACY Touring Wagon (Subaru)
Description: You are back on a fast-paced and rather simple track for
this round. The turns are hardly anything to worry about,
which you'd have to slow down a tiny bit at best. It's
nothing you haven't dealt with before, so this should be a
breeze for you!
Super Pass
Part Unlocked: Light (Special)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): SILVIA (Nissan)
(Expert): SPRINTER TRUENO *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: The trend in this game is that after an easy course, you are
usually faced with one annoying/tough course, and this is
it. There are a bunch of easy turns and straight roads which
are of no threat to you, but then you are faced with a
series of tight hairpin turns. They can make you almost go
into a standstill when turning, since you cannot speed
through them without crashing. Slow down and get through
those, and make up for it by speeding in the straightaways,
and you will have a chance.
Great Reef
Car Unlocked: (Normal): INTEGRA TypeR (Honda)
(Expert): MR-S *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: This course is a cross between easy and difficult, since it
has a little from both worlds here. There are many long
straightaways to really speed up, then there are really
tight turns or a hairpin after each straight path. For the
single hairpin, you will want to hold the brake down and
make a tight right turn around the bend, then continue. For
the rest of the turns, be cautious that you slow down enough
to make the turns smoothly, or else you'll be sorry when you
crash a few times and lose!
Dump Line
Part Unlocked: Suspension (Sports)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): STAGEA (Nissan)
(Expert): MARK II Tourer V *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: This is the final course of the Middle Class, and it is
going to be the hardest one thus far. The straightaways are
not so bad, but the turns are what make this track murder.
The hairpins and tight turns make you really slow down to
get around them safely, also making you lose precious time
to catch up to the lead. Drive well by speeding on the long
roads, then slowing down on the turns and catching up on the
following straight road. If you're lucky, you can get to
first place near the end of the race and win this class!

Highspeed Class
===============
License S Corner 1
Test Car: FTO (Mitsubishi)
Description: Here, you have to deal with a zig-zagged track, where you
make a turn to the right, then a sharp one to the left
again. Simply speed through it without braking and you'll
easily get the gold here.
License S Corner 2
Test Car: MR-S (Toyota)
Description: This license course is just as simple as the previous one,
but this one is a little more fast-paced. Start off on a
long straightaway to build up speed, then you go with the
right, then left turns. You can turn through them without
braking, so do that and speed to the end.
License Course
Test Car: S2000 (Honda)
Description: This full-circuit course is the third test for you to deal
with. Speed through an entire lap with straightaways, a
couple turns, and a hairpin, within 30 seconds to win. Be
careful though; if you go off the road for more than a
second, you fail. Use your brakes sparingly around the
tighter turns and speed to the finish as quickly as possible
to pass!
Mountain Dop
Car Unlocked: (Normal): LEGACY B4 (Subaru)
(Expert): SKYLINE GT-R *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: In this first real race of the Highspeed Class, you will
notice right away that you must be FAST in order to win the
race. That means you must be going as fast as possible
through the entire course, even most of the turns, to avoid
falling behind. The turns here, thankfully, aren't that bad
though; even the hairpins are wide enough to prevent a high
speed collision. It only gets harder from here, so be ready
for worse later on!
Drag Marker
Part Unlocked: Muffler (Stainless)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): ALTEZZA (Toyota)
(Expert): IMPREZA WRX STi *TUNED* (Subaru)
Description: Here, you are faced with long speed-gaining areas, and then
a bunch of tough and tight turns. There are a few zig-zag
roads where you make a sharp first turn, then a sharp second
turn. That part and the hairpins are the only parts you
really need to slow down. Anywhere else, go as fast as you
can to catch up/win this race. You may want to play here a
few times prior to the championship one to get used to the
turn; that way you do better on the real deal.
Out Run
Car Unlocked: (Normal): MARK II Tourer V (Toyota)
(Expert): CHASER Tourer V (Toyota)
Description: Now, this is a tough course if I haven't seen one so far!
There are plenty of tight turns and hairpins here, plus the
road is mostly narrow, giving you little room for error
here. The only time you should slow down here is just before
the hairpins so you make it around them, then get right back
up to speed if possible. You have to race basically
flawlessly in order to win this one, so good luck!
About Way
Part Unlocked: Seat (Special)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): Verossa (Toyota)
(Expert): Supra *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: This rainy, city-themed course is another challening one due
to its tight turns and hairpins. Actually, the hairpins are
not too bad compared to the many sharp turns throughout the
the course. Take it easy on the really tight ones to avoid
crashing; it doesn't affect you much if you slow down a tiny
bit to turn, but to crash can mess you up for the entire
race, so be careful.
Plain Runner
Car Unlocked: (Normal): ATENZA (Mazda)
(Expert): MR2 *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: For a change of pace, this track is short and quite simple
if you ask me. Apart from a couple of wide/tight turns, it's
a fast-paced breeze to get through. Because it's short
though, that means you can't screw up too badly or else
you'll have no time to catch up! Easy courses come with a
price, so race as best as you have been to pull through.
Tension Pick
Part Unlocked: Engine (Middle Tune)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): Garaiya (ASL)
(Expert): 180SX *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: Here, there are not as many tight turns around, but the
turns that are around seem to be closer together. You can
easily speed through here if you know exactly where the
turns/hairpins are, but you may want to take it slow around
the tight ones to avoid a crash. Overall, this one is not
too hard and you can probably win in first place with just a
couple tries (provided you're good enough to have gotten
gold in all the previous races).
Country Mig
Car Unlocked: (Normal): LANCER GSR Evolution VII (Mitsubishi)
(Expert): Fairlady Z *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: This course, in my view, feels like a true speed course.
There are many straight paths with hardly any tight turns to
deal with, even at high speeds. There are only 2 hairpins
which you should slow down to get around, but other than
that, speed on through here!
Break Down
Part Unlocked: Suspension (Race)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): SKYLINE GT-R (Nissan)
(Expert): SKYLINE GT-R *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: The hardest course of a class is usually the last one, and
this is just that. You have good opportunities to speed up,
but there are usually tight turns/hairpins following those
straight roads, so you have to be careful. Play through here
a couple times, get used to the turns and such, that way you
know what to expect each turn; then you'll be able to win if
you slow down enough and not hit the walls on turns, and
catch up whenever possible.
==================
Professional Class
==================
License Special 1
Test Car: SILVIA (Nissan)
Description: For the first of the next group of license courses, you get
another really easy one here. Go straight ahead and follow
the right curve, then when it shows a sharp zig-zag in the
path, don't panic. You don't even have to turn; simply drive
straight across the red and white boundaries and you'll be
home free!
License Special 2
Test Car: IMPREZA WRX STi version VI (Subaru)
Description: This license test is truly a tough one; it's the first one
that actually took me several tries to complete once! You
start off speeding up a long straightaway, then a left turn.
At the tight, wavy path, use your brakes just enough to make
it around the turns. Steer as sharply to the right as you
can, then continue all the way straight to a sharp left.
Make it around that corner and you'll have this race. Be
careful though; drive on the grass and you fail the test, so
you have to really try for this one!
License Course 3
Test Car: RX-7 (Mazda)
Description: This is the last, and overall most difficult of the license
tracks. You start off easy with a long straightaway, and
then the turns begin! There are 2 consecutive hairpins to
get through, then a wide right turn all the way to the end.
The first hairpin will definitely give you the most trouble,
but you can't brake too much if you're going to complete
this course. Use very little brakes and just squeeze through
here and further ahead, and you'll be able to possibly pass.
Blow Back
Car Unlocked: (Normal): IMPREZA WRX STi (Subaru)
(Expert): COROLLA LEVIN (Toyota)
Description: This course is not so much hard as it is long, so no worries
are to be had here. If you have been attaching all earned
parts to your car of choice up to now, this course should be
a breeze for you! The only parts that'd give you trouble at
high speeds are the wavy turns and the hairpins. Brake and
go through the turns, then keep on going! You have only 3
laps to catch up to the lead, and you need all the
speed/time you can get!
Blast Laps
Part Unlocked: Muffler (Titan)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): MARK II Grande (Toyota)
(Expert): ARISTO *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: This is a fairly simple course, which is definitely great at
such a high level into the game. There are many
straightaways, and there are only a couple hairpins to deal
with here. Simply slow down when going around them, and
you'll be alright. About halfway through, before the second
hairpin, a hazard sign pops up. At the road split, follow
the path left or else you'll crash into the yellow boundary.
Assault
Car Unlocked: (Normal): SKYLINE GT-R (Nissan)
(Expert): GTO *TUNED* (Mitsubishi)
Description: Here, you are put onto a really challenging course which
will really test your skill in this game! You deal with long
and winding paths, complete with tight hairpin turns and a
sharp right at the end of the lap. On the hairpins where the
hazard sign comes up, stay all the way to the right so you
don't get confused and crash into the invisible wall on the
dead-end road! Speed through here, being cautious when
needed, and you will win this one sooner or later.
Knock Down
Part Unlocked: Engine (High Tune)
Car Unlocked: (Normal): RX-7 (Mazda)
(Expert): SILVIA *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: You get a good break with this course, which is good since
there were many hardships before this point. Anyway, there
are a few long straightaways to really speed up (great if
your car is tuned to the max), but you should be careful
around the turns. Most are sharp and sudden, so you have to
be able to slow down just enough to make it through them.
Other than that, this track is a well needed piece of cake!
Terrible Mt.
Car Unlocked: (Normal): GTO (Mitsubishi)
(Expert): ALTEZZA *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: From the look of it, this mountainous course really is
terrible, but when you get to racing on it, it really isn't
that bad. It may take you a couple tries to get used to a
couple of the tight, but misleading hairpin turns, but it
can be done. When you get used to it all, you can speed
through this whole thing and end up in the lead only in the
second lap!
Skyscraper
Car Unlocked: (Normal): SKYLINE GT-R (Nissan)
(Expert): CHASER Tourer V *TUNED* (Toyota)
Description: Here is another really easy, fast-paced course for you! The
straightaways are great, and the turns aren't really that
bad, besides the hairpins which you'll have to slow down a
little to get around. There's one "sharp" right turn, but
luckily there is a large area of white stripes to widen that
turn, making it no sharp turn at all! Either way, you
shouldn't have trouble with this track; just race well and
you have it!
Slippery
Car Unlocked: (Normal): ARISTO (Toyota)
(Expert): RX-7 *TUNED* (Mazda)
Description: This nighttime course isn't that hard, but it isn't that
easy either. There are 2 consecutive hairpins that really
slow you down, so be careful there. At the end, there is a
sharp hairpin/right turn, but it gets tricky with the hazard
sign showing up. When you start going through the hairpin,
the turn suddenly makes a sharp turn to the right, so you
must be slow and careful not to crash here! It may take a
few tries, but you can get it down somewhat.
Flash Speed
Car Unlocked: (Normal): NSX (Honda)
(Expert): SKYLINE GT-R *TUNED* (Nissan)
Description: This is the final course of the entire Championship Mode to
deal with, and it is very difficult. There are TONS of tight
hairpins to deal with, followed by a short straightaway and
then another sharp turn/hairpin. The laps are long and
winding, and you will need to be cautious most of the time
to avoid crashing too often. Play this track like any other
previous one, and you can get through, completing the game!
