I. Introductions:
Welcome to the wonderful world of FE6! For all of you FE7 players
in the U.S,
playing FE6 will be a gigantic jump in difficulty. FE6's normal mode
is as hard as or even harder than Hector hard of FE7. Hard mode of this
game is at least
twice as hard as normal, nearly 4 times harder than Hector hard. Enough
of that.
Characters that were once useful may be on the verge of uselessness,
and the useless characters in normal may shine in hard mode.
Normal mode is a joke compared to hard. In normal mode,
balanced stats easily overcame those who excelled at few things
and sucked at others. However, now, it will be the other way around.
Character's excelling abilities will pay off more than ever,
and you need to adjust the characters you use according to your
strategy.

III. Terminology
Here is also some FE terminology that you might like to know:
Jeigan character: These are characters that start out stronger
than the others at the first point you get them, and will be
much weaker in the end. You will know a Jeigan when:
A. They start out promoted
B. Their stat gains are slow
C. When you get them, they are stronger than most of your other units.
So for example, Marcus, Zealot and Echnida would be Jeigans, but
Douglas, Garret and Cecilla wouldn't be. Jeigans can provide to be a
big help in the early levels, and try not to kill enemies with them.
Keep them handy for when you need them. You will be getting no more
Jeigans after chapter 13, because that marks the end of them for
this game. That's because the majority of your characters will be
vastly superior to the rest of the prepromotes, and very few
characters will need to catch up.
D. Their starting stats are weak in many ares.
Sucky Leader Syndrome: This is the common disorder where
the main character, or lord, suffers bad stats. Roy is no
different. Marth, Leaf and Eliwood have suffered the same
thing. Don't know about Alm.
Triangle-Attack: Usually, it's the three pegasus sisters.
Not only that, in this game, the three armored knights can
also triangle attack. The first attack will ALWAYS do 3x the
damage and be a perfect hit. The second attack (if the character
hits twice) will be a normal one. If you want Bors, Barth, and
Wendy to do the triangle attack, you need to decide who will
execute the attack. For now, let's say Barth. I would position
Bors and Wendy in a specific manner one space next to the target
so that once I have Barth attack, they make a triangle formation
around the enemy. It does help you know. Especially when trying
to develop Wendy in chapter 7.
Random Number Generator: IMPORTANT!!! The random number generator
has been the moderator for strategy rpgs perhaps forever. It's
a system that generates thousands upon millions of numbers.
The numbers it generates ranges from 1-100. Stat growths,
criticals and hit chances are affected by this. As long as
the number generated is below the percentage, that stat will
gain/you will land a hit/you will land a critical.
Hard Mode Stat Gains (VERY IMPORTANT!!): Some units that started
off as enemies in normal mode may now gain hard mode bonuses, but
they are completely random. If you plan on using a character with
hardmode gains, it is imperative that you hire them when they come with
the best stats. If their hard mode gains do not satisfy you, then
retsart, as they should be different. Characters with hard mode
gains are:
Rutger
Shin
Fir
Gonzales
Klein
Miredy
Percival
Cass
Zeiss
Characters that lack hard mode gains:
Douglas
Rei
Hugh
Keep in mind that there are limited possibilities to these
hard mode stat gains.
More coming in my next update.

which allows them to use the legendary weapon for that skill, but it
does not add a +5% bonus to critical (that's no mistake). All promoted
units
that were once not able to go on mountains are now able to. (not peaks,
mountains)

III. Character Ratings
The other two character guides specifically rate the characters in normal
mode. However, this is for hard mode, and it will be much different. I
will also give the best unit of each class.
Lord ----> Master Lord
Roy
The main lord sucked without supports in normal, and he's even worse.
Normally, you'd max out his supports and then give him a kill sword.
Roy's high luck and speed combined with his extra dodging ability from
supports will be beneficial. The Sword of Seals will make up for all of
his weaknesses. What kills him is that he remains unpromoted for an
incredibly long time, thus bringing down his rating a ton.
Rating 5/10
Stat Growth: HP 80% Power 40% Skill 50% Speed 40% Luck 60%
Defence 25% Magic Defence 30%
Looks: Red hair, with a hedband, and blue clothing.
Social Knight ----> Paladin
Marcus
Actually, Marcus is very useful in the beginning. There will
be occasions for when you will need him, which is why he gets t
wo ratings: A Jeigan rating and a standard rating. Keep him with
an iron sword in the beginning and he won't be killing, just
weakening enough to the point where someone else can finish the
enemy off in a single blow. Otherwise, don't even think about using
him.
Jeigan Rating 8/10
Rating 1/10
Looks: Old, light purple hair, and purple armor.
Stat Growth: HP 60% Power 25% Skill 20% Speed 25% Luck 20%
Defence 15% Magic Defence 15%
Allan
Allan is still very good to use. The high strength will help,
so will the speed and maybe luck. Be sure you give him supports
to take care of his accuracy. Keep him with lances if his skill
messes up, but if he gets good skill, try giving him axes. He
will provide to be a huge help in the beginning, which is why
he gets a high rating. You should get his sword and lance levels to S.
Rating 8/10
Stat Growth: HP 85% Power 45% Skill 40% Speed 40% Luck 40%
Defence 25% Magic Defence 10%
Looks: Red hair and red armor.
Lance
Lance is also still good to use this time around. He will get high
skill, speed and decent strength. Keep him with lances as often as
possible (save weapon triangle advantage) and support him like you would
for anyone else. Like Allan, he can be a huge help in the beginning
boosting his rating, and you should get his lance and sword levels to S.
Rating 8/10
Stat Growth: HP 80% Power 40% Skill 45% Speed 50% Luck 35%
Defence 20% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: Green hair, with green armor.
Treck
Treck can still be used. He's basically the balance of the social
knights. He will end up getting high luck, and sometimes good defence.
Support him as often as possible and keep him away from mages
unless he has high dodge. You should keep him with lances.
However, his support options are rather low, downgrading his rating.
Rating 7/10
Stat Growth: HP 85% Power 40% Skill 30% Speed 35% Luck 50%
Defence 30% Magic Defence 5%
Looks: Dumb face, light yellow hair, and blue armor.
Noah
I suggest you don't use Noah. He is nowhere near the level of Allan,
Lance,Treck, and Percival. All Noah really has is skill and everything
else has a chance to mess up. You should use him to hire Fir, but that's
it. Use him otherwise if you want, but make sure you support him as
early as possible! As a paladin, he should stick with axes because of
hisskill and con. He should already have his sword level at S rank if
he had it at A prior to promotion.
Rating 5/10
Looks: Happy expression, purple hair, blue armor.
Stat Growth: HP 75% Power 30% Skill 45% Speed 30% Luck 40%
Defence 30% Magic Defence 10%
Zealot
Zealot is a good Jeigan. You can seriously give him a steel weapon,
probably
even silver, and he still won't be exp hogging. Use him if you need to
make sure your army doesn't mess up in the beginning and to help in
leveling low leveled units, but he should not be used after chapter
13. He can be incredibly useful in chapter 7 lending a hand to
help Treck survive, dealing with the dragon riders and helping
with the ambushing social knights. He may end up getting good
defence, which will greatly help in the beginning. Have Zealot
be the Jeigan for ch 9-13 (replace him with Echnida if you get
her).
Jeigan Rating 8/10
Rating 1/10
Looks: Grey-Silver armor, black hair.
Stat Growth: HP 75% Power 25% Skill 20% Speed 20% Luck 15%
Defence 30% Magic Defence 15%
Percival
Say hello to the best paladin! Percival has awesome hard mode gains,
ties with Noah for the best con, has the best weapon levels, and is
totally immune to the RNG! Percival will max hp, str, and speed while
all of his other stats will remain high. Lance and Allan will never
surpass him unless you beef them up with stat-up items. Percival
should NOT be ditched. He can easily max lances and swords, but he
works really well with axes, especially killer axes. Also, his
level-ups tend to speed up in the end, another great bonus. He is
perhaps the only character that will be able to max three weapon
levels easily, and max out three stats while being incredibly well
balanced in others.
Rating 9/10
Stat Growth: HP 75% Power 30% Skill 25% Speed 35% Luck 20%
Defence 20% Magic Defence 10%
Looks: Cool expression with blond hair, and purple armor.
Best Paladin: Percival. RNG immunities, best weapon levels,
tied for 1st place with con, and his stat gains tend to speed up
in the end. He is the only paladin that can max 3 stats without
sucking badly in other areas. Heck, he's the best paladin out of
FE6 and 7.
Worst Paladin:. . .Marcus and Zealot. Marcus will be real useful in
the beginning while Zealot will be useful in the next 5 chapters
(once you hire him)
Armored Knight ----> General
Bors
In normal mode, high defence was not needed, thus making Bors less
useful. However, high defence especially pays off big time, and this is
what Bors has. As a general, his defence will be insane and he will be
able to feed damage right back at his enemies. Seriously, Bors's high
defence will actually pay off in hard mode. He also
has strong speed and luck, while he will get decent strength and skill.
I give him a higher rating than Wendy because Bors's defence will help
you GREATLY in the beginning, otherwise you'd be using Marcus too much.
He's also got the same speed as Wendy with better luck growth, but his
CON gives him the speed advantage.
Not only that, he can triangle attack with his armored friends, and ALL
of them will prove to be VERY beneficial at times, shooting his rating
up above Percival.
Rating 9.5/10
Stat Growth: HP 90% Power 30% Skill 30% Speed 40% Luck 50%
Defence 35% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: Ugly, gold armor, and green hair.
Wendy
I overrated her last time, all Wendy has is offence, like I stated
earlier. However, her offencive caps aren't that high, and she
can get pitiful defence. Unless you use the triangle attack,
or be extra careful, raising her is a huge pain. You might want to keep
her around for the triangle attack, but that's it. Her con is horrible
for a general. For pete's sake, why does she as general get damage from
IRON WEAPONS? When Bors can resist silver weapons, while
Barth can be immune to them. Pitiful.
Rating 7/10
Stat Growth: HP 80% Power 40% Skill 40% Speed 40% Luck 45%
Defence 30% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: Pink hair, pink armor, red headband.
Barth
Barth somewhat sucked in normal because defence was so not needed.
However, now, defence does play a huge role. Barth's powerful defence
will render him immune to silver weapons, and you can add in addition
to that, the power of his supports. If you need a defencive character,
do not hesitate to use Barth. Like all characters in hard mode, make
your best effort to beef up his support options. Keep him away from
mages if you don't mind. He can also triangle attack, making
him FAR more useful. If your strategy does not call for a high
defence character, then mind as well forget him, but he is incredibly
useful.
Rating 8/10
Stat Growth: HP 100$ Power 60% Skill 25% Speed 20% Luck 20%
Defence 40% Magic Defence 2%
Looks: Blue armor, odd haircut.
Douglas:
First of all, this guy flat out sucks. He comes at such a high level
that he's an exp hog, he gets NO hard mode gains, and ALL of
his stats, save hp, are mediocre. His stat gains are usually very
dismal, and do not help at all,
making him not any more useful. He will not last
as long as Barth, Wendy, or Bors in any situation. You should only use
him to get Aureola. Poor Douglas. . .At least he is BETTER than Marcus
and Zealot. However, if he came as a level 1-4 general instead of 8
(sometimes ten), then I would've given him a much higher rating. He
must've been worse than Marcus and Zealot when he was a level 1 general.
He can't even get a Jeigan rating because he's so darn pathetic
compared to all of your other units when you get him.
Rating 2/10
Stat Growth: HP 60% Power 30% Skill 30% Speed 30% Luck 20%
Defence 30% Magic Defence 5%
Looks: Purple armor, brown hair, with a brown beard.
Best General: Bors. I already have enough people with offensive
capabilities and dodging abilities, but not enough people with defence.
Bors will also get sufficient strength, and supports will make up for
his skill. He should get very high luck and great speed
as well, so his avoid will be very similar to Wendy's, but he has
the advantage in CON, so he should end up faster. Not
only that, Wendy has average offence caps, while Bors
can reach his high defence cap. And if it wasn't
for Bors, you'd rely on Marcus too much, who will fail at times.
Worst Armored Knight: Douglas. He's as useless as a soldier, and takes
too much effort to raise. All of his stats suck, and his hp is only
average. His level-ups are usually too dismal. He also has no potential
whatsoever.
Archer ----> Sniper
Wolt
Wolt is alot more useful in hard mode. Why you ask? Dragon riders!
There are way more Dragon Riders and Dragon Masters that anyone
could ask for in hard mode. That makes the bow users shine, like Wolt.
Wolt should max strength, skill, and speed.Max his supports,
and keep him away from close range combat unless he has high
avoid in a forest.
Rating 7/10
Stat Growth: HP 80% Power 40% Skill 50% Speed 40% Luck 40%
Defence 20% Magic Defence 10%
Looks: Light green hair, cool-looking
Dorothy
She's basically just as useful as Wolt. She has higher strength,
giving her the edge against Dragon riders. She also has more speed.
She has less skill, but bows have some of the best accuracy, so
that can be excused. Eventually, she and Wolt will mimic each other.
However, she can support with. . .PERCIVAL!!
That makes her quite useful.
Rating 7/10
Stat Growth: HP 85% Power 50% Skill 45% Speed 45% Luck 35%
Defence 15% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: Somewhat ugly, brown hair
Igrene
She's got the worst stat growth of the snipers, but she is RNG proof,
making her a replacement character. All of her stats have a pretty good
balance, and they will rise slowly. However, Klein,
Dorothy and Wolt are still better.
She is a decent replacement if your Wolt/Dorothy got screwed,
or something.
Rating 6/10
Stat Growth: HP 70% Power 35% Skill 25% Speed 35% Luck 20%
Defence 10% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: Long hair, brown skin, red lipstick
Klein
Klein is way, way better in hard mode. He gets the hard mode gains that
he really needed. However, if you promote Wolt and Dorothy at level 20,
they will still be better. Klein is in no way RNG proof, and getting
screwed up in areas will kill him. He can support with Percival,
making him somewhat more useful, and he can beat up those dragon
masters. His starting stats are still a little weak, and he can end up
weak in a few areas.
Rating 6.5/10
Stat Growth: HP 60% Power 35% Skill 40% Speed 45% Luck 50%
Defence 15% Magic Defence 25%
Looks: Blond hair, cool-looking.
Best Sniper: After making a long decision, I'd say Dorothy. She has more
strength than Wolt, and will inflict much heavier damage on Dragon
masters. Her skill might be worse, but it is still at a high rate, and
bows are some of the most accurate weapons. She has 5% less luck and 5%
more speed. Eventually, Wolt and Dorothy
should mimic each other pretty well, but Dorothy has a better affinity
for support. She can also support with Percival, and fire + darkness
is one of the best combinations.
Worst Sniper: Hmm, tough choice. Igrene is a RNG proof in a way while
Klein can
mess up badly in few areas. I'd say Igrene, because
Klein will clock in much higher speed and luck, he has the best
resistance growth of many physical units and he can support with
Percival. Not only that, at least Klein will excel at many areas, and
excelling works much better than being balanced unless you're
Percival-crazy. So Igrene is the worst, but being RNG proof is still
a bonus.
Nomad ----> Nomad Trooper
Sue
Sue still kicks ass, and with all of those Dragon masters, she will kick
even more ass.
She has insane skill, speed, and luck, while her other stats
tend to suffer a little. However, it is good that she excels at three
stats. She is a great choice. Keep her with supports like you would with
everyone else. Sometimes, her stat gains will be insane and
if that starts happening, then keep on using her gosh dang it!
Rating 9/10
Stat Growth: HP 55% Power 30% Skill 55% Speed 65% Luck 50%
Defence 10% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: Red headband, long blue hair.
Shin
Shin kicks some serious ass. He gets insane hard mode gains,
and is way more RNG proof than Sue is. Sue and Shin is a great support
combination that I suggest you don't miss.
Shin can deal some insane damage, and will still have very high skill
and speed. It's just that he sacrifices luck for hp and power, but he
doesn't need luck. He comes at an early level with awesome hard mode
gains, so he will have powerful potential.
Rating 9/10
Stat Growth: HP 75% Power 45% Skill 50% Speed 50% Luck 25%
Defence 10% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: Green clothing, green bandana
Dayan
Give Marcus and Zealot better starting stats, and worse stat growth,
and this is what you've got. His speed is his only good stat.
And it may not rise. Seriously, don't use him. Like Douglas, he doesn't
make the cut for a Jeigan because all of
your other units will be way stronger than he is when you get him.
Rating 2/10
Stat Growth: HP 55% Power 20% Skill 20% Speed 15% Luck 20%
Defence 10% Magic Defence 10%
Looks: Yellow clothing, green mustache.
Best Nomad Trooper: Shin. He comes at level 5 with awesome hard mode
gains. Having great stat growth overall + RNG proofness is an
awesome combination. Still, do not be discouraged to use Sue, because
she is a female swordmaster
on a horse + a bow and - a +30 boost to critical..
Worst Nomad Trooper: Dayan. Duh, no need for explanation.
Mercenary ----> Hero
Dieck
Dieck still rocks. To make him good, you need to take advantage of his
con and abilities. He obviously has high strength and skill,
so you would naturally give him axes. I prefer him using steel
and silver blades. Dieck should max speed, and he will not lose any inch
of that speed unless
he uses a steel axe. The high skill
greatly helps him with the accuracy of axes and blade weapons.
Supports will skyrocket his accuracy.
Rating 8/10
Stat Growth: HP 90% Power 40% Skill 40% Speed 30% Luck 35%
Defence 20% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: No shirt, scars, light blue hair.
Ogie
Ogie is still pretty good. I suggest you give him a body ring if
possible. He will get very high speed and luck,
which is something you must take
advantage of. He will get better gains than Dieck overall, but that
doesn't mean he is that much better. Use the Jeigan method to develop
him, if it's really a pain for you.
Rating 8/10
Stat Growth: HP 85% Power 40% Skill 30% Speed 45% Luck 55%
Defence 20% Magic Defence 15%
Looks: Blue hair, young looking.
Echnida
She's definately not a Percival, but she isn't a
Marcus/Zealot/Bartre/Douglas/many other prepromotes. She is a great
Jeigan character for some time, but then you should just ditch her.
Ogie and Dieck are much better. She is somewhat RNG proof,
in speed and skill, but it may not rise much. Not much else to say here.
However, she is stronger than the majority of your units when you get
her, so she does get a Jeigan rating. Helps on chapter 13.
If you really want to use her, then go ahead. I'd use her
only because she's Geese's best choice.

Worst Hero: Echnida. Ogie and Dieck are easily better.
Myrimidon ----> Swordmaster
Rutger
Rutger is even better in hard mode because he has great hard mode
bonuses. He dodges well, he's got a great support list and
affinity, and the swordmaster is a kick-ass class. Rutger will
have very high stats, but lose in luck, def, and resistance, but he's
a swordmaster, and they have enough dodge to make up for
that. He can help you big time in the beginning if you
take advantage of his awesome starting stats.

Fir
I seriously overrated her last time. Fir is a unit that needs
to be continously babysitted from the moment you get her. Her
low STR will kill her and she'll just be a burden. Unlike Rutger,
she can not boast being a huge help since you get her. Yes, she has
HM bonuses, but those don't get her very far.

Karel
Karel doesn't get hard mode gains, but his starting stats are still
awesome. And, just hope he gets many +2s in his single level-up. He
should max speed, or skill, but that's really it. He's nowhere near the
level of Fir or Rutger, but he still rocks. A pity he comes so late.
And, although his stat growth rocks, it's only one level. But that
one level-up can be an equivalent of three.

Best Swordmaster: Rutger. Simply because he can help you out far more
in the beginning than you can imagine. That is, if you take advantage
of his abilities.
Worst Swordmaster: Karel. He will only max one stat, and he comes too
late in the game to really make that much of a difference.
Some of your other characters will deal more damage than he does in the
final level. He is still one of the best prepromotes, so don't be
discouraged to use him if he's one of your favorites (like mine).
Fighter ----> Warrior
Wade
Wade is nowhere near as useful as he was in normal. He's a huge pain to
raise, and he has no endurance later on. Sure, he does have high skill
and strength, but he lacks speed, his luck won't really make up for that,
and he won't have enough defence to last. His resistance is horrible,
and he will get torn apart by magic easily. If you plan on using him,
keep him away with any enemies with speed, and have him use a bow when
he's behind someone. Have him use axes if he's fighting armored knights
and generals, but he should stay away from the
front lines if there are no forests. Use him as a support unit.

Lot
Lot is better than Wade in hard mode. In fact, he is the only warrior
worth using in hard mode. His stat growth might be balanced, but he will
get the speed and endurance to last. He will not get torn apart by
magic easily, and he has a chance of getting general-like defence. His
skill suffers a bit, but he will get alot of speed, so he makes a bow
user as opposed to being an axe-user. With
all the Dragon Masters prawling around, Lot will shoot them down easily.
His strength growth isn't that great, but he will still have good
strength nonetheless. His bow level seems to rise a bit fast. Keep him
with bows as a warrior, support him, and you won't be disappointed.

Bartre
Bartre is yet another sucky prepromote, sadly. His starting stats are
too low, except strength, and his stat growth is also very low. He comes
with the brave axe, which is his only redeeming feature, and he can
hire Karel, but I think you'd rather have Fir do that. Bartre is one of
those prepromotes that should
be benched immediately. He isn't a Jeigan character because he will
only be superior in power and hp, and be weak everywhere else compared
to your other units by the time you get him.

Best Warrior: Lot. He isn't as much of a pain as Wade to raise, but he
can still be a pain. He will prove to be far more useful, as he easily
will last longer. He kicks ass with bows, because the bows save him
from his horrible skill, and he has good speed to tie with it. He
should be double-attacking Dragon Masters, and the damage he should be
dealing will be great. Keep him with bows, and you shouldn't be
disapppointed.
Worst Warrior: Bartre. You know why.
Pirate/Brigand ----> Berserker
Geese
Geese is pretty good. His stat growth is balanced, and he can be very
reliable. The only stat that really suffers is his skill, but it's
still not bad. However, he has one of the worst support lists, making
him more useless in hard mode. The only thing really making him more
useful is the massive amounts of Dragon Masters and lance units.

Gonzales
Gonzales is also pretty good. His skill is the only stat he suffers
badly in, but he has hard mode bonuses. He is much better than Geese
however, because of the fact that his support list is way better. And,
if Gonzales can land a hit, man, it could be as bad as Durban's hit with
Armads. Maybe not, but still. With all those Dragon Masters and lance
units, that axe ability will be useful. He also gets hard mode gains,
which can save him in few areas.

he has is HP and strength, and all of his other stats suck. His 30%

but then again, all of your other characters will surpass him in many
other stats so he doesn't get a Jeigan rating.

Worst Berserker: Garret. Another prepromote to boot.
Pegasus Knight ----> Falcon Knight
Thany
Thany is very useful. She has strong resistance and dodge, but her

Yuuno (get it? You know? hehehe) is yet another prepromote to boot. She
can triangle attack with her sisters, but it isn't worth it. Unless you

don't use both Tate and Thany, but if you want, go right ahead. Keep
her away from bows, if you don't mind. They're pretty daggone accurate.
Worst Pegasus Knight: You know, Yuuno. Sad that she's a prepromote
who sucks. I have much pity for her, but she just has to be that bad.
Dragon Rider ----> Dragon Master
Miredy
Miredy, somehow, gets hard mode stat gains o.O. She starts as an enemy,
but she only appears as an enemy for one turn, then switches sides.
She has a great support list, and her hard mode gains plus her low level
gives her high potential like Shin, and RNG proofness. She will end up
with high strength (she should max it out rather fast), and she'll
have strong skill, speed, and defence. Her main weaknesses are arrows
and magic, especially Air Calibur, so be careful with that.
Rating 8/10

Zeiss
Zeiss is still awesome. His hard mode gains are incredibly insane, and
he comes at a lower level than Miredy. Thus, that makes him resistant to
getting screwed in stats, and he'll max out rather quickly. He also
excels at the Dragon Master's traits, defence, hp and strength and
he has strong speed on top of that. He's still weak to magic and arrows,
so you still better be careful with that. However, his support list is
nowhere as good as Miredy's. His only supports worth using are Miredy
and Shin, but support with Shin rises at an incredibly slow pace,
and Karel comes in really late.

Best Dragon Master: Miredy. Supports are key in hard mode, and she's
got that advantage. Miredy's chance of supporting will be much higher
than Zeiss's, and she will have the benefits much longer. Miredy
also has RNG proofness and great stat growth, so she does have the
advantage. They would make great general substitutes, so if you want
two characters with high defence, Miredy and Zeiss are your mercenaries.
Worst Dragon Master: . . .
Cleric ----> Bishop
Ellen
Ellen's good, but not as good as she was in normal as in, not as
powerful compared to her enemies. She's an early healer, but Saul also
comes in rather early. Her support list is pretty good, and she should
have high magic power as a bishop, powerful resistance and extreme luck.
She has horrible speed and defence, so you better keep her away from
physical units whenever possible.

Saul
Saul also rocks, and using him will pay off. He starts out with great
stats. He also ties with Yodel for the best con of the mages,
add Saul's resistance to that and you've got a magic tank. Saul should
get great hp for a mage, good attack power, great accuracy and many
double-attacks. He suffers horrible luck, and is very weak to criticals.
His resistance isn't Ellen-crazy, but it's still going to max out.
He's a magic tank, so he can rescue units and expect to take the magic
punishment. He will also max light magic far quicker than Ellen, which
will be very beneficial. His support list sucks though, because it's all
female adults but that's not what makes it bad, its just that only two
of those adults are actually worth using, Dorothy and Ellen. Odd that
he can't support with Miredy.

Yodel
Yodel sucks now, but his resistance sure doesn't. He comes at level 20
with horrid stats, and the only good stat he has is resistance which is
maxed. He has the least potential because he can't gain anymore levels
and he's useless. Use him if you need to rescue someone in chapter 21
from magic, or something. However, Yodel is one of only bad prepromote
that will actually have a stat maxed, which gives him a higher rating.
Rating 3/10
Stat Growth: He comes as a level 20 bishop, he has stat growth but
why would you want to know? I'll just tell you that it's worse than
Marcus and Zealot's, which is convincing enough.
Looks: Old with white facial hair.
Best Bishop: Both. Saul's only good support is with Dorothy, who is
actually worth using. Saul should also have high, balanced stats, which
is a benefit. If you're not using Dorothy, then it's Ellen, or you could
use both because they can support with each other. Sometimes, I wonder
why Saul can't support with Miredy. . .But if you're not using Dorothy,
then it's Ellen, otherwise, you could use both, but I already said that.
It's all about preference, but Saul should last LONGER
(he has WAY MORE HP) and dish out more damage, which is why I said he's
better. But then again, it boils down to playing style, so it's both,
not to mention Ellen's support list is FAR better.
Worst Bishop: Yodel. Saul and Ellen will tie with him in resistance
and be better in every other stat. Yodel might beat Ellen in hp, but hp
is not as important as it used to be.
Trabouador ----> Valkyrie
Clarine
Clarine is seriously the only trabouador worth using. Her support list

Cecilla
Cecilla is no better than the average prepromote, unless you power
level her at an arena as soon as possible. Her stat growth is pretty
good for a prepromote, because she should get high hp, good power,
and high skill. She's not really going to have much of anything else.
However, in order for her to be useful, you HAVE to level her up as
much as possible at an arena, but she will be far more useful than many
of the other prepromotes. She doesn't make the cut for a Jeigan ethier,
so she doesn't get a Jeigan rating.

Best Valkyrie: Clarine. She's far more useful in the beginning, and
she rocks at promotion. She may not have the power Cecilla has, but
she's definately a reliable dodger, and having a high move range is
always a good bonus.
Worst Valkyrie: Cecilla. She's better than many other prepromotes, but
she has to be power levelled in order to be useful. Even with that,
lots of her stats will remain rather low, and pummel her. You shouldn't
use her at all in hard mode; I don't see why you would.
Mage ----> Sage
Lugh
Lugh is incredibly useful in the beginning, because there aren't many
units with magic defence. He should get high speed, which will promote
his double attack chance. He isn't a pain to raise because he comes
early, and most of the enemies aren't crazy in speed or resistance.
He also has a good support list, which boosts his rating. He is
definately a character you shouldn't miss out on using.

Lilina does not kick as much ass as she did in normal. Enemies are way
faster now, and that could very well hurt Lilina's accuracy. She's
definately not as useful as Lugh, but she can make the cut if she gets
the speed she needs. All she has is power and luck, while most of her
other stats will suffer. She may get high resistance. If you plan on
using her, support her as often as possible and keep her away from

Hugh
Hugh's the only mage that has a chance of getting his hp in the 50s
without the need of an angelic robe, and he has somewhat RNG proof
stats. He's basically the unpromoted version if Pent from FE7. His
stat growth is plain average, but his starting stats make up for that.
Just make sure you hire him at full price so he doesn't lose his stats,
and you shouldn't be too disappointed with him. He should get high
speed and hp, combined with decent defence. He's also the only mage
that'll get his hp up in the 50s. . .

Best Sage: Lugh. He is far more useful in the beginning and can prove
to be a major help. He also has great speed and accuracy, and his
magic power isn't half bad. He's also got a good support list. Even
without supports, Lugh will still be powerful, which gives him the
advantage.
Worst Sage: Lilina, but she's still very good. Without supports, she's
easily pathetic, and won't be able to survive on her own. You need to
get her supports skyrocketed before she will prove to be useful,
while Lugh and Hugh will be able to live without it. She does
make a dragon-killer with Air Calibur. Of course, Hugh has
horrible support options and they grow rather slow, but he can still
last. You know what? I can't decide. Hugh can last longer to grow his
supports, while Lilina needs them fast before she gets thrown into
uselessness.
Shaman ----> Druid
Rei
Rei doesn't get hard mode gains, but he doesn't need them. He comes
with great stats, and the weaknesses of Elder Magic are covered with
his growths. Elder Magic is heavy, so Rei has good con and great
speed to back that up, and it is the most dissacurate form of magic,
while Rei still has powerful skill. He's definately not a pain to
raise. Rei may not have Sophia crazy power, but he will still manage
to get it high. He's easily the best.

Sophia
Sophia is good when trained up, but training her up is the major
problem. She already loses speed because of her con, and she comes so
late a such a low level (well, her level and the chapter are really
far apart) that it is nearly impossible to raise her. She will get
sent to school rather easily, and it will be hard getting her out.
Like I said earlier, Elder Magic is the heaviest and least accurate
form of magic. Sophia doesn't have the speed and she doesn't have
the skill. She has the endurance and power. She will rarely be
hitting, and will usually be getting double-attacked. She's not worth
the effort in Hard mode because Rei will prove to be far more useful,
and Sophia isn't Nino-crazy when trained up. The fact that it takes way
too much effort to train her and she is not better than Rei pulls down
her score a ton, although I wish it not so.

unless he uses Apocolypse or fights a class with insane speed, like a
swordmaster.
Worst Druid: I'll just say Niime, in case you find some sort of way to
train Sophia.
Mamkute
Fa
Fa is Chiki revived. She still kicks ass, but you must keep her away
from the frontlines, due to her low hp, and have her finish off enemies.
She's incredibly accurate, so she would do well in finishing off a boss.
She excels at everything, but hope she gets a double hp and luck level

Best Thief: Chad. You get him earlier and the treasure he can get in

him for brigand/pirate fighting, but don't use him for any other
fighting purpose.
Worst Thief: For usefulness Cass, for a fighter, Astore.
Cass's stat growth is far better than Astore's, and she

fighters anyway.
Dancer/Bard
Lalam
Hmm, I don't know what to say. She dances to give people who have
already spent their turn a second one. She can also hire Echnida, who
may be very useful for chapter 13. However, I'd much rather take

IV: Conclusions
I have rated characters specifically in hard mode, and the
ratings have NO relationships with normal. There are many new
characters worth trying, and characters that sucked in normal can be
extremely useful now, like Barth, and vice-versa. Now, I am going to
suggest out of each class which character you should use.
A * means that I suggest you don't use them, but it wouldn't hurt too
much to, a ** means that I suggest you use them, and a *** means I
STRONGLY suggest you use them. People without a * should not be touched
unless it is for Jeigan purposes.
