:: 1. Boss Lists :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
==========================================================================
Note: The bosses are classified by the order in which they appear in the
in-game Encyclopedia. It is possible to fight them out of this
order, but it's best if you don't.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #1: Giant Bat :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 10
HP: 400
Enemy No.: 10
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 66
Found: Castle A - Marble Corridor
Description: A bloody bat that will break into several smaller bats after
taking a certain amount of damage. It shoots out fireballs at you.
Strategy:
This boss is very easy to defeat, probably why it's the first boss you
face in the Boss Rush Mode. As it's forming from the bats scattered around
the room, take a few cheap shots in before it starts moving. If you think
it's getting too close, dash backwards to get away. The fireballs the
Giant Bat will shoot at you can be destroyed with one attack. Continuously
jump up and swipe at it. After it takes a certain amount of hits, it will
transform into several smaller bats that will reappear in another area of
the room. After it reforms, continue the same strategies. Take note that
the Giant Bat will occasionally turn into a "drill" and barrel into the
ground near you. Take this opportunity to make free shots.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #2: Living Armor ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 13
HP: 900
Enemy No.: 18
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 110
Found: Castle A - Shrine of the Apostates
Description: The first of the many Armors you will encounter. Basically
looks like a large knight with a huge sword.
Strategy:
This battle is extremely easy to win, but you have to have good timing
when it comes to dashing backwards. When you enter the room, immediately
run up to Living Armor and get in a few shots. As you attack, it will step
forwards and backwards. Don't bother dashing, just move out of the way.
After a few hits, Living Armor will draw back its sword. When you observe
this happening, dash backwards once or twice to avoid the attack. When it
pulls its arm back up, continue to attack. Eventually, the Living Armor
will fall apart and you'll receive a crystal ball.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #3: Golem :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 18
HP: 1408
Enemy No.: 31
Tolerance: Thunder
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 273
Found: Castle B - Luminous Cavern
Description: A rock creature with a ball and chain attached to it. It has
a huge and powerful fist and an "eye" inside which is its weakness.
Strategy:
At first, the Golem will pound the ground with its fist and large rocks
will fall from the sky. These can't be destroyed, so be sure to avoid
them. The only other attack Golem has at this "stage" is when it draws
back its fist. At this point, you should dash back once or twice to avoid
being damaged. Continue to attack the Golem using the above tactics until
a portion of its head breaks off, revealing its "eye". This part of the
battle is more dangerous. The rest of the Golem's body is invulnerable to
your attacks. You can either jump up to hit the eye or you can stand on
the platforms located on either side of the screen. But beware, when the
Golem looks like it's about to spit, dash back as soon as possible. Rocks
or lava (can't tell which) will spew from the hole in its body. Continue
to attack the eye and you'll win eventually.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #4: Skull Knight ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 20
HP: 1600
Enemy No.: 32
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: Thunder
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 339
Found: Castle B - Skeleton Cave
Description: A creature with the skull of a bull or something... it also
has a red and blue shield and a long saber.
Strategy:
There are three stages to this battle. At first, just attack the Skull
Knight regularly. If you notice its sword surging with electricity, dash
back twice to avoid its jab attack. Skull Knight can defend itself with
its shield too. After inflicting some damage, it will disappear and its
shield will go flying to another part of the room. It's not dead yet...
When the Skull Knight rises again from its shield, it's missing the sword
from the last stage. Continue to attack, avoiding the Skull Knight from
jumping on you. When it leans forward and then disappears, get onto one of
the platforms. If you don't, you'll be damaged when it appears again after
it has charged at you. After taking more damage, it will disappear again.
When it reappears from the shield, the shield will vanish. This stage is
easy to get through: attack like crazy, dashing backwards to avoid being
hit when the Skull Knight jumps in the air, and ducking when the blue beam
of energy is released from the Skull Knight's abdomen.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #5: Minotaur ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 20
HP: 1920
Enemy No.: 41
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 339
Found: Castle B - Castle Top Floor
Description: A bull creature with a bloody axe, a skull for a head, and a
loincloth... ^_^
Strategy:
Minotaur has three attacks: a jump, which you should dash backwards from,
an axe swing, which you should also dash from, and an axe throw, which you
should duck from. Minotaur's fighting style is similar to the Living Armor
in that after swinging the axe at you, it will leave it in the same
position for a few seconds. This battle is fairly easy...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #6: Devil :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 27
HP: 2176
Enemy No.: 47
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 627
Found: Castle A - Chapel of Dissonance
Description: A weird, winged, blue-and-brown creature that likes to play
with fire.
Strategy:
Try to avoid direct contact with the Devil. If you touch it, then you will
become cursed and will suffer a severe disadvantage for the following 10
seconds. Dashing is your friend in this battle. The Devil has several
attacks: a fire beam from the air, a fire beam from the ground, and a fire
swipe. The fire beam attack from above can easily be avoided. The fire
beam attack from the ground can be avoided by ducking, and the fire swipe
can be avoided by dashing backwards. Again, avoid all contact with the
Devil. Whoa, that sounded religious...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #7: Giant Merman ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 30
HP: 3520
Enemy No.: 55
Tolerance: Fire
Weakness: Ice
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 1298
Found: Castle A - Aqueduct of Dragons
Description: Basically a larger version of the Mermans you find here. A
blue-green creature with spikes on its back and a red tail.
Strategy:
There are three attacks the Giant Merman will use:
A) When it raises its arm and a wave of water will rise
B) When it summons two Fishmen to attack
C) When it curls into a ball and rolls towards you
Jump over the wave of water when it comes towards you. Kill the Fishmen
as fast as possible so they won't serve as a distraction. When it rolls
into a ball, jump onto a platform to avoid being hurt. This fight is
actually very simple.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #8: Max Slimer ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 32
HP: 3680
Enemy No.: 56
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 1479
Found: Castle A - Clock Tower
Description: Nothing but a big blob of green slime that separates as you
hit it...
Strategy:
This battle is very easy, as long as you avoid the Tiny Slimes and be
aware of the status effects that can occur during this fight. At first,
just attack the Max Slimer and destroy the Tiny Slimes that come out.
Sometimes the Max Slimer will jump to the ceiling, then fall down and
change color. When it is blue, it can poison you. When it is yellow, it
can petrify you, and when it is red, it can curse you. Avoid contact with
any enemies here, and eventually the Slimer will explode.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #9: Peeping Big :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 33
HP: 2000
Enemy No.: 67
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 1981
Found: Castle B - Clock Tower
Description: A huge eyeball with a long tail. Not much else...
Strategy:
This battle is extremely easy if you know the right strategy. As soon as
you can, run up to Peeping Big and hit it in the eye. This will cause it
to move right a little. Continue to do so until you have it against the
right wall. Continue to jump up in the air and hit it until it explodes
into a bunch of smaller eyeballs. If Peeping Big begins to wag its tail,
dash backwards because it will whip the tail around furiously for a few
seconds.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #10: Legion (saint) :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 35
HP: 1920
Enemy No.: 68
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 2230
Found: Castle B - Sky Walkway
Description: An eerie creature in the shape of a ball. It has wings and
a shell that you must destroy to get to its core, an eyeball-like thing.
Strategy:
As you whip the outer shell to destroy it, smaller versions of Legion will
form from what is remaining. These can damage you severely, so destroy
them quickly. Destroy all outer layers of Legion to expose the inner core,
which you should attack. The core has three tentacles that will shoot blue
energy beams at you. Avoid these at all costs. Whip the core/eyeball and
Legion will be destroyed eventually.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #11: Shadow :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 36
HP: 1600
Enemy No.: 69
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 2362
Found: Castle B - Sky Walkway
Description: A black face that shapeshifts into three different forms:
a panther, a sword, and a moth.
Strategy:
While in its face form, the Shadow is invincible to all attacks. It will
first transform into a panther that will run back and forth attacking you.
After this, it will turn into a huge sword that will twirl around.
Touching this will curse you, so be careful. Its final form is a large
moth that will fly around releasing spores into the air. These can poison
you, so don't stand directly underneath it. Keep whipping and you'll win.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #12: Pazuzu :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 38
HP: 4500
Enemy No.: 74
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 2640
Found: Castle A - Castle Top Floor
Description: A red demon with blue wings that spits waves of fireballs.
Will constantly jump towards you and attempt to smash you.
Strategy:
This is a HARD battle (at least it was for me). If Pazuzu lands on you,
you'll receive up to 80 damage, so you really need to be careful and dash
as much as possible. Standing under the platforms is a good idea. Avoid
Pazuzu's jumps and keep attacking until it summons Tiny Devils to assist
it. While Pazuzu is just standing there, get in a few free shots and kill
off the Devils. Even if there are still some onscreen, Pazuzu might start
jumping all over again. Another attack it has is when it releases a wave
of fireballs at you. These can't be destroyed, so to avoid them you'll
have to slide, duck, or jump.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #13: Minotaur Lv2 :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 42
HP: 4200
Enemy No.: 84
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 3228
Found: Castle A - Castle Top Floor
Description: Exactly the same as the regular Minotaur, except without an
axe. Minotaur Lv2 has a ball and chain that it will swing at you.
Strategy:
You'll need to dash backwards a lot in this battle. Continuously whip the
Minotaur until it raises its arm. Dash back fast to avoid being hit by the
ball and chain. This fight is an easy one, as long as you don't come in
contact with the enemy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #14: Legion (corpse) ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 43
HP: 4620
Enemy No.: 85
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 3388
Found: Castle A - Skeleton Cave
Description: A more dead-looking version of the previous Legion that
squirts blue fluid.. The hard outer shell will prevent all damage. A
corpse is hanging on the inside, and that is the weak point.
Strategy:
At first, Legion can't do anything to you except curse you if you come in
contact with it. Although attacking the outer shell on this enemy won't
cause any damage, do so anyway. Eventually the outer shell will open up
halfway, revealing the outline of a corpse. Continue to attack, avoiding
contact, until the corpse turns white. Focus your attacks on it and you
should hear screaming. Continue to do this, still avoiding contact, until
Legion disappears in a flash of white light. Note that during this, Legion
will drop several little creatures that look like oversized maggots. These
are dangerous, so duck down and kill them before they touch you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #15: Talos ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 48
HP: 4200
Enemy No.: 86
Tolerance: Ice
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 4227
Found: Castle A - Luminous Cavern
Description: This thing is HUGE. So huge, it can barely fit on one screen!
Although it may seem powerful, this boss is actually pretty wimpy for a
giant blue robot creature with a humongous arm... if you haven't noticed,
this is the same creature that you found at the beginning of the game.
Strategy:
Talos' only weak point is its left leg that is glowing red. Focus all your
attacks there and avoid Talos when it steps forward. When it outstretches
its long arm, dash backwards since Talos will jab the arm down to the
ground. Continue to attack the left leg and Talos will collapse. Pretty
lame death animation for a boss so cool-looking.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #16: Death (1st form) :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 48
HP: 3920
Enemy No.: 87
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 4227
Found: Castle A - Luminous Cavern
Description: A common character in Castlevania games, Death is Dracula's
close friend with a huge scythe.
Strategy:
Small sickles will appear randomly throughout this room and spin towards
you. Use your whip to destroy these and focus the rest of your attacks on
Death himself. Dash backwards when Death slashes his scythe at you, and
duck if he throws it. This form is fairly easy to defeat. The real
challenge lies in...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #17: Death (2nd form) :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 49
HP: 2800
Enemy No.: 88
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 4406
Found: Castle A - Luminous Cavern
Description: A long skull creature that has two claws and a whipping tail.
Strategy:
AVOID TOUCHING THIS CREATURE'S CLAWS OR TAIL. They both will inflict
massive damage on you. Although it seems like this battle is hopeless, you
have the ability to jump on Death's back and attack from behind. Just make
sure that when you fall off, you don't land on the tail. Death has less HP
in this form, but it's still very hard to win. You'll need some practice.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #18: Cyclops ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 49
HP: 4680
Enemy No.: 97
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 4406
Found: Castle B - Shrine of the Apostates
Description: A blue creature with one eye and a huge hammer.
Strategy:
Cyclops will only use two attacks against you: one when it dashes at you
(double jump to avoid), and another when it smashes its hammer down at
you (dash to avoid). Apart from those, this guy is simple to kill. Just
attack like crazy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #19: Maxim ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 46
HP: 4800
Enemy No.: 98
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 0
Found: Castles A&B - Castle Treasury (Note: The default location to fight
Maxim is in Castle A. To fight him in Castle B, you will need to
obtain all of Dracula's bodily remains to open the door on the
ground.)
Description: The evil form of Juste's best friend. Extremely powerful and
has many good battle tactics.
Strategy:
This is probably the hardest out of all the boss battles. Maxim is very
fast and powerful and can inflict a heck of a lot of damage with one hit.
Maxim has several attacks he can use on you:
A) When he throws a giant shuriken at you.
-Dash backwards.
B) When he jumps in the air, then dashes down towards you
-Dash backwards.
C) When he uses his sword like a Sacred Fist
-Dash backwards.
D) When he slashes at you with his sword
-Dash backwards.
E) When he makes a clone of himself who will mimic his every move
-Take note of the real Maxim and focus your attacks on that one.
F) When he makes a horde of clones attack you
-Dash as far away as possible and try to double jump over the clones
as they fly past you.
As you can see, dashing is vital to win this fight. After every attack you
can manage to get in, dash backwards since Maxim will usually counter with
one of his own moves.
Daniel Dupuis recommends the following strategy:
"The easiest strategy is to use the knife and wind book. Since you are
invincible during the spell duration it is very useful for countering the
attack 'F' mentioned in your FAQ. As for myself I make around 14dmg for
each dagger, I never counted how many daggers it shoots, but I know it's a
lot! More than 20, that's for sure, so it's a minimum of 300dmg. On top of
that it doesn't use a lot of MP, I can cast it around 10 times. Alright so
what if he jumps? Okay... Maxim doesn't stay 'in the air' too long so I
think it's still worth it to use that spell."
Maveric Hunter PD found an easy way to block Maxim's clone attack:
"To block Maxim's multi-clone attack, activate the Holy Book/Lightning
book combination. It'll create a shield that'll destroy any clones that
fly at you."
Note that this is the final battle, unless you have the items necessary to
fight Dracula Wraith. (see FAQ section for more details)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #20: Dracula Wraith (1st form) ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 52
HP: 2250
Enemy No.: 99
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 0
Found: Castle B - Castle Treasury
Description: A cloaked figure that shoots fireballs. Note that this isn't
Dracula himself, just a shadow of him.
Strategy:
There's not much to do here. This battle is almost identical to the one
you fought with Richter in the very beginning of Symphony of the Night:
Dracula (or Dracula Wraith in this case) will vanish in beams of light
then reappear in different parts of the screen. When he appears, he will
either release fireballs at you, or black energy balls. The fireballs can
be destroyed, but you'll have to jump over or slide past the black ones.
Usually you'll only get in about one hit before Dracula Wraith will
disappear, so you'll need some patience to get through this battle. It's
easy overall though. If you can destroy this form of Dracula Wraith, it
will transform into another hideous... thing.
Maveric Hunter PD found an easier way to defeat Dracula's first form:
"For Dracula's first form, activate the Holy Book/Lightning Book combo,
and stand so that the shield is touching him. The shield does more damage
than the whip, and blocks any projectiles that might be thrown in Juste's
general direction."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: #21: Dracula Wraith (2nd form) ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level: 55
HP: 6666
Enemy No.: 100
Tolerance: ---
Weakness: ---
Drop Items: ---
---
EXP: 0
Found: Castle B - Castle Treasury
Description: An ugly, gigantic creation formed by Dracula's remains. The
TRUE final boss of Harmony of Dissonance.
Strategy:
There's actually not much to this battle... just avoid touching the Wraith
and duck at all times to avoid the huge energy beam that shoots at you.
Don't stop attacking, and the final boss will fall, leaving you with the
best ending of the game. You won!
==========================================================================
:: 2. Boss Rush Mode :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
==========================================================================
Beating Maxim in Castle A for the first time will unlock a new option in
the main menu of the game: Boss Rush Mode. This mini-game is a race
against time, as you make your way through all of the game's bosses as
fast as you can. You receive a healing sphere after every battle that will
restore your health and MP. There are three different modes to play in. At
first, only Easy will be available. But if you can beat that, Normal gets
unlocked, and after that comes Hard. See how fast you can do it!
The list of bosses for each mode (in order) is:
+------+ +--------+ +------+
| Easy | | Normal | | Hard |
+------+ +--------+ +------+
1) Giant Bat 1) Giant Bat 1) Giant Bat
2) Living Armor 2) Living Armor 2) Living Armor
3) Skull Knight 3) Skull Knight 3) Skull Knight
4) Golem 4) Golem 4) Golem
5) Minotaur 5) Minotaur 5) Minotaur
6) Devil 6) Devil
7) Giant Merman 7) Giant Merman
8) Max Slimer 8) Max Slimer
9) Peeping Big 9) Peeping Big
10) Legion (saint) 10) Shadow
11) Legion (saint)
12) Pazuzu
13) Minotaur Lv2
14) Legion (corpse)
15) Talos
16) Death (1st form)
17) Death (2nd form)
18) Cyclops
19) Dracula Wraith (1st form)
20) Dracula Wraith (2nd form)
After choosing your mode, you appear in a long corridor. The lamps here
contain the sub-weapons in this order:
Knife, Sacred Fist, Holy Book, Holy Water, Axe, Cross.
In all the corridors following this, every lamp will contain a large heart
with a possible total each time of 30 hearts.
Another cool feature you can do in this mode:
At the Konami screen directly before the main menu, enter the Konami code:
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A.
When you enter Boss Rush Mode and select a difficulty, you will be playing
as Simon Belmont instead of Juste!

:: 3. FAQs :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
==========================================================================
Some things you might be wondering about...
1) You mean Dracula is in this game!? How can I fight him?
Well actually, it's not really Dracula, just a shadow of him. Not that
it's not powerful or anything, because it is. The way you can fight
the Dracula Wraith is to recover all Dracula's bodily remains (Eye, Heart,
Rib, Nail, Fang) and Vlad's Ring, all scattered throughout both castles.
After you get them all, go to the Castle Treasury in Castle B and find the
door in the ground that wouldn't open previously (the "final boss" area
where you fight Maxim in the other castle). Travel downwards and get into
the last area, where Maxim is again. After defeating him, Dracula's body
parts react and Dracula Wraith appears for you to fight.
2) I don't like the strategy you used. How can I help?
Send me yours using the Contact Info below. I'll post any new strategies
as long as they aren't the same as ones already here.
Not many, I know. But if I get a question too frequently, I'll post it.
This IS only the first version, after all...
