2. Introduction
-==-==-==-==-==
I'm not a fan of racing games. Mainly because there are so many games
out there that come with over-complicated interfaces and rubbish
tracks. Road Rash was released on the SEGA Gamegear in 1994 and (in
my opinion) still is on of the best motocross experiences around.
Probably the only game that is better than it is Excitebike for the
NES. This FAQ covers the various bikes, types of game, and all the
different tracks. For contact information, see the Conclusion of the
guide. Let's get started...

3. Starting a Game
-==-==-==-==-==-==
Boot up your Gamegear and start the game. You can skip all the
credits and stuff by pressing button 1. You will come to a menu. On
this menu are the various levels you can race in. I won't explain
them all here, so head to the Levels section of the guide.

5. The Levels
-==-==-==-==-
Sierra Nevada - On this track you basically have to stay on the road
at all times as trees cover all of the rest of the driving area.
Pacific Coast - This track is good for beginners as it has not too
many tight bends and is of a reasonable length.
Redwood Forest - Like the Sierra Nevada, you must stay on the road
at all times due to obstructions.
Palm Desert - This is a good track to drive with a fast bike. It
is quite straight, giving you the chance to accelerate to the
maximum.
Grass Valley - Apart from the high amount of cars on the road, this
is one of the best tracks in the game. The roadside obstructions are
few and far between, and the corners mean that the opposing bikers
cannot accelerate much faster than you can.

6. Tips
-==-==-
In this section, I'll give you some tips for completing each one of
the races.
First of all, you'll notice that there are cars that head towards you
on the road right? Well if you move away from the road, then there
will be no chance of them hitting you. But watch out. Driving on
the grass or sand makes your bike move slower, and you will have a
lower top speed until you head back on to the road.
The 2 button is used for nudging people next to you. Use this often.
To use it you must be level with them, and you must also make sure
you are going the same speed as them. Once you press the 2 button,
the biker will fall off his bike and land on the ground.It will take
him at least five seconds to get up and get on his bike again, so
use this time to your advantage.
A final tip I'll give is: Don't turn too sharply, or your bike might
tip over and you will fall off. Falling off your bike means that
any racers close behind you will pass, and it will take you a while
to catch up with them again. To avoid this, don't hold the D pad
in any direction for a long period of time, and every so often, take
your hand off the D pad to let your bike level out.

7. Buying a Bike
-==-==-==-==-==-
In between races, you have the option to use the money you earn from
winning the tracks to buy a new bike to race on. These are the bikes
on offer, and how much they cost:
Panda 600 - 90 Horsepower
$5,000
A good all-round sport bike. It's got light steering
but lacks performance.
Banzai 750 - 100 Horsepower
$7,000
Crisp handling with good power at high RPM but not good
at slow speeds. Try and keep going fast.
Kamikaze 750 - 105 Horsepower
$8,000
Slower steering, but higher power than the Banzai.
Shuriken 1000 - 135 Horsepower
$12,000
Extreme speed but it's size makes for slower turning
and stopping.
Ferruci 850 - 110 Horsepower
$14,000
Razor-sharp handling. It doesn't last long though.
Panda 750 - 120 Horsepower
$20,000
A high price, but amazing handling and speed.
Diablo 1000 - 150 Horsepower
$25,000
Awesome handling, but probably too expensive for
beginners to buy.
Personally, I recommend buying a bike that handles well, but also
has a good top speed, otherwise you won't pass any other racers. Also
something to consider is the price you want to pay. If you save up
for a higher priced bike, you will keep the same bike for a few races
whereas the other racers wil be buying, so it puts you at a
disadvantage.
