-= 1. What's New -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Version 1.0 (9/12/02): The fully complete version of this FAQ. This file is
done, but if there are changes to be made, I'll probably make them.
Version 0.95 (9/10/02): The Blue Coin listings have been updated through the
rest of Noki Bay. Also, information on a few more Shines have been included
in some spots.
Version 0.9 (9/8/02): As of now, most if not all the Blue Coins for the first
4 worlds have been listed, as well as most of Delfino Plaza's coins and some
Shines. More to come in the next update.
Version 0.8 (9/3/02): Okay, the main walkthrough is pretty much complete, but
this guide is far from over. I have yet to add a full Blue Coin listing for
all worlds, as well as getting Shines in Delfino Plaza. Look in the next
update for some of that to be added!
Version 0.7 (9/2/02): Everything up to the third episode of Pianta Village is
covered. Maybe by the next update or so, I should start adding listings of
Blue Coins in each area.
Version 0.6 (9/1/02): As of now, the walkthrough covers everything through
Episode 4 of Noki Bay.
Version 0.5 (8/30/02): The walkthrough covers up to the end of Pinna Park.
More to come in the following updates, of course.
Version 0.1 (8/27/02): The first incomplete version of this new FAQ.

As you may have guessed, Mario is back! After a 6-year hiatus since Mario 64,
the legendary plumber has returned for a new adventure on the Gamecube. This
time around, Mario is stuck on Delfino Island, apparently labeled as a
criminal, and must stay to clean up the mess he supposedly made. New to the
game is the water park, as you probably know already, as well as the Shines
(the equivalent of Stars in Mario 64). Overall, picture this as a next-
generation version of Mario 64 with old elements mixed in with new ones to
make a new late-summer smash hit!

-= 3. Story -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Close your eyes and imagine...soothing sunshine accompanied by the sound of
waves gently breaking on the shore. High above, seagulls turn lazy circle in
a clear blue sky. This is Isle Delfino.
Far from the hustle and bustle of the Mushroom Kingdom, this island resort
glitters like a gem in the waters of a southern sea.
Mario, Peach, and an entourage of Toads have come to Isle Delfino to relax
and unwind. At least, that's their plan...but when they arrive, they find
things have gone horribly wrong...
According to the island inhabitants, the person responsible for the mess has
a round nose, a thick mustache, and a cap...
What? But...that sounds like Mario!?
The islanders are saying that Mario's mess has polluted the island and caused
their energy source, the Shine Sprites, to vanish.
Now the falsely accused Mario has promised to clean up the island, but...how?
Never fear! FLUDD, the latest invention from Gadd Science, Inc., can help
Mario tidy up the island, take on baddies, and lend a nozzle in all kinds of
sticky situations.
Can Mario clean the island, capture the villain, and clear his good name?
It's time for another Mario adventure to get started!

FLUDD
=====
As you obviously know by now, the FLUUD, or Flash Liquidizing Ultra Dousing
Device, is the water pack that Mario wears on his back throughout the game.
There are many uses for this pack, such as washing down the mess throughout
the stages, attack enemies, and even acting as a jetpack. Press R to spray
with it while moving the Control Stick to aim the shot. The harder you hold
down the R button, the stronger the water pressure will be, and the sooner
your tank will empty. If you want to move and shoot, lightly hold R and move
normally. When your tank is empty, simply stand in a body of water and press
R to refill.

Shine Checklist
===============
As you might already know, there are 120 Shines to be gotten in this whole
game. In each world, there are 11 Shines total: 8 regular Shines, 2 hidden
Shines, and a Shine you get by finding 100 Coins in the area. In Delfino
Plaza/Airstrip, you get a Shine for 100 Coins, 16 Shines total in the Plaza
area and 2 in the Airstrip. There are 24 Shines to be had by trading in all
240 Blue Coins found throughout the course of the game. The final Shine is
found by beating the boss at Corona Mountain. Here is a quick list of how
many are found in each area (consult the sections of the guide below on how
to actually find them):
Delfino Airstrip/Plaza: 17 (18 with 100 Coins)
Bianco Hills: 11
Ricco Harbor: 11
Gelato Beach: 11
Pinna Park: 11
Sirena Beach: 11
Noki Bay: 11
Pianta Village: 11
Corona Mountain: 1
Shines from Blue Coins: 24
Total: 120 Shines

================
Delfino Airstrip
================
The game opens with Mario and friends on a plane headed for Isle Delfino.
They land, only to find some strange goo on the runway. A silouette of a
potential Mario clone is shown, and Toadsworth talks to Mario for a moment.
Princess Peach will tell Mario to be careful, and you will have control.
Head up the path and talk to the Toads standing around. Walk around the mass
of goo, and you will encounter some island inhabitants. Talk to them and they
won't be too pleased about the mess on the runway. Go towards the water pump
and it'll come to life and attach itself. A tutorial on how to use it will
take place. After it's over, practice by cleaning off the 2 blue boxes in
front of you. Do so and you will gain 2 Coins. Go back down the airstrip and
clean the first mess, then go to the more dangerous mess further ahead. Spray
it until a gooey piranha plant comes to life. Spray it in the mouth 3 times
to defeat it and clear the slime. A Shine will then appear; claim the first
Shine!
After that, officials of Delfino will take Mario away and place him in a
court trial. They accuse him of being the one who made the mess all over the
island. They deem him guilty and for his punishment, he must clean the whole
island before beind able to leave. Mario and the water tank FLUDD will be in
jail. FLUDD will explain the whole significance behind the Shine Sprites. The
next day will then come and you will start the assignment. (Note: If you ever
want to return to the Airstrip, there is a man with a boat in the southwest
area of Delfino Plaza that'll take you there for 10 Coins.)
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
From here on out, this plaza serves as a central hub for all points of the
game. After you collect a Shine in any stage, you return here, and you can
access the stages from this whole area. So, start off by going forward and
talking to the people you see until you come to Peach. She will be upset
about the whole predicament here. Continue east to the giant mess in the
Bianco Square. Clean up the surrounding mess and spray down the gooey enemies
that jump out. Spray down the middle pile and a Gatekeeper will come out.
Kill it like you did last time and the statue of Pianta will reemerge from
the mess. Atop it stands the evil Shadow Mario, and he jumps down and
snatches the Princess before taking off.
Chase Shadow Mario around the Square, spraying him down with water from your
pump every chance you get. Shadow Mario will leave a messy trail during the
chase, so clean it up if you want. After you hit Shadow Mario enough, he'll
drop the Princess and run towards the statue. Follow him and he'll paint a
rainbow "M" symbol on the side and jump in. Spray that symbol with water to
activate it, then jump into the first world: Bianco Hills.
======================
World 1 - Bianco Hills
======================
Episode 1: Road to the Big Windmill
-----------------------------------
From the start of this area, follow the stone path northward. Collect 6 Coins
on the way and you will come to a small river. Jump onto the tighrope hanging
over it and walk across, and jump onto the ledge at the other side. Go right
and drop down to another path below. Follow it and collect some more Coins,
then continue to the end. Jump onto the waterwheel and ride it to the top,
then jump to the other side. Continue along the regular path, and clean up
the giant mess shortly ahead from the waterwheel. Further ahead is another
mess, and a Gatekeeper in the middle of it flinging goo balls at you. Defeat
the Gatekeeper, and a path leading up to the bridge will rise up. A Shine
will also be revealed. Go up and take it.
Episode 2: Down with Petey Piranha!
-----------------------------------
Start by going up the path into the main village area again. This time,
follow the path to the right past the Delfino lady standing there. Go through
the now-open doorway and continue onward. Clean up the mess if you want (it
doesn't much matter if you do since it'll only get messy again anyhow), and
continue up the new path. Go up the hall and you'll come to the bridge.
Switch to the Hover Nozzle as FLUDD directs you to, and use it to float
across the missing sections of the bridge. At the other side, continue along
the winding road to the windmill itself.
Follow the path up and around the windmill, spraying off a path for yourself
so you don't slide too much. Avoid the rolling goo boulders and continue up
the hill. You will spot a Gatekeeper to the side on the way up. Kill it and
continue upward. There will be a line of thorns in the gap ahead of you, so
use the Hover Nozzle to go across. Continue and do that 2 more times to reach
the last ledge. Talk to the Delfino inhabitant there, then jump onto the
rotating platform on the end of the spinning part of the windmill when it
comes down. Ride it to the top, where you will spot a giant piranha plant
sitting atop the windmill. Jump to it and your weight along with the piranha
plant's will cause the roof to collapse. You will both drop into the windmill
and you'll have to fight Petey Piranha. Read the Bosses section for help
here. After the fight, the Shine will appear; take it.
Episode 3: The Hillside Cave Secret
-----------------------------------
From the start of this episode, go north along the path. You will notice a
flower enemy standing to the side. Spray at it from a distance to stun it,
then ground pound it to kill. If you don't, it'll implant itself in the
ground and constantly throw dirt up at you. Anyway, continue to the river and
go across via the tightrope. At the other side, go right and through the
doorway to an open field area like before. Follow the stone path straight and
to the left as it starts going up the hill. Before you reach the hill, the
path will split off to the left under it. Take that left path and you'll come
to a tightrope leading under the now-fixed bridge. Go across it to the next
platform. Continue across the next several platforms by means of tightrope or
using the Hover Nozzle to fly across.
When you get to the green ledge at the very end, follow the sign and go right
to the other end of the ledge. Do a triple jump to reach the high wire. From
it, jump and use the Hover Nozzle to reach the top ledge. Enter the cave,
where you will begin a mini-game of sorts. There, start by double jumping up
the moving steps to the top ledge. In the second part, you must get across a
field of small moving blocks. If you fall, you lose a life, so be careful. At
the other side, there will be a straight path ahead of you. The catch is, 4
giant cubes will move around the path, knocking you off if you don't get past
them. After those are a couple slow-spinning star platforms. Double jump on
the second one to get an extra life. Jump to the next platform and collect
the Shine, completing this episode.
Episode 4: Red Coins of Windmill Village
----------------------------------------
Starting off this episode, you will notice that there are 8 Red Coins to be
found in the village area of this stage. Start off by going forward on the
path and getting across the river as usual. You will notice a blue box on the
other side this time; check it out and FLUDD will tell you that it's a Hover
Nozzle, which you already have, so it's not worth taking yet. Start by going
forward and jumping up to a tightrope hanging between 2 buildings. Jump to
grab the first Red Coin (1). Bounce up to the higher rope and walk onto the
roof of a building to find another one (2). Go back across the rope to
another rooftop where you will see a red box, which is in the form of a
hologram now, so you can't collect its contents. Do a wall kick and jump
upward, and use the Hover Nozzle to fly to the wire. Watch out for the spark
that travels on the same line, though. Jump to the rooftop and grab the third
Red Coin (3).
Next, walk across that same wire, jumping when the spark comes close to you.
At the other side, grab the fourth coin (4). Walk to the left and you'll
notice a path leads around and downward atop a wall. Follow that path into an
alcove inside a building for the fifth Red Coin (5). Continue along that path
and you'll find #6 as well (6). Now, look to the side and you will see a
wooden ledge with a slow-moving sail going around. Fly with the Hover Nozzle
onto there, then fly to the other end of the ledge. You will notice a second
wooden ledge with a non-moving sail on it, with a Red Coin in the air between
it. Jump and fly to get it (7), then go back to the ledge you were on. Fly
across to the other ledge, and then fly onto the building with the 2 towers
on it. Get onto the ledge in the left tower, then side somersault to the roof
where the last Red Coin is (8).
The Shine will then appear on a high platform above the village. From here,
jump onto the tightrope hanging from the roof and walk along it, being
cautious of the spark on the way. At the other side, simply grab the Shine
and end this stage.
Episode 5: Petey Piranha Strikes Back
-------------------------------------
Starting off here, follow the path into the actual village. Once you're
there, clean up the big mess around the buildings. Then, jump onto the
tightropes and get to the first rooftops. Wall jump and hover up to the high
rope, then go across to the white wall. Follow the path along the top of the
wall down and around as far as you can go. At a corner, use the Hover Nozzle
to reach the next section. At the end, you will see a few brick ledges. Hover
across them all and get onto a ledge with a red box. This box contains the
Rocket Nozzle part for FLUDD, so crush the box and take it (now that you
opened it here, all red boxes will be accessible for now on).
Now, backtrack to the village area again. In there, head to the north field
where you will find several balloon creatures falling from a high ledge.
Charge the Rocket Nozzle and get onto the upper ledge. Jump up the ledges and
walk across the tightrope to the top of the cliff, where the balloons are
coming from. Clear the gooey mess, and let a balloon attach itself to you,
Stand in front of the broken part of the fence and blow up the balloon, then
aim and shoot it at the sleeping Petey Piranha. The boss will awaken and fly
over, towards the village. Read the Bosses section for help beating it. Upon
winning, the Shine will appear, so get it and leave this episode.
Episode 6: The Secret of the Dirty Lake
---------------------------------------
Start by going straight along the path and over the river to the village
area. Head right and through the doorway out of the village, and continue
along the pathway. Follow the path going up the hill and across the bridge,
and go along the winding path to the base of the windmill mountain. Follow
the path to the right until you can see the cavern in the distance, along
with several logs floating in the polluted water in front of the cave. Get a
running start and double jump off the ledge towards the cave, then use the
Hover Nozzle in midair and fly to the logs. With luck, you should land on one
of them. From there, fly over to the ledge in the cavern. Open the white box
to get the Turbo Nozzle, then enter the cave for a mini-game.
In this mini-game, the Shine is at the end of an obstacle course you must run
through. Start by going forward onto moving blue and red platforms. Be
careful as they flip around often. Get across those to the next ledge. Jump
onto the spinning star and grab the 1-Up. Jump onto the blue platform just
before a rotating cube. Do a wall jump on the blue wall and land on the cube,
and it'll start to move. As it rotates, jump to avoid falling off. At the
other side, wall jump from the yellow wall to the next platform. Here, there
will be 2 triangles that'll try pushing you off the side of the platform when
you walk by, so be careful.
After those, jump onto the cube and it'll start moving upward. It'll rotate
as you move, so try your best to stay on top of it, however tricky that may
be to do. Collect the 1-Up on the way up there, then at the top, jump onto
the yellow ledge. You will find a whole bunch of those red/blue flipping
platforms again. Get across those as best as you can, then grab the Shine on
the last ledge to finish this episode.
Episode 7: Shadow Mario on the Loose
------------------------------------
Here is where your next encounter with Shadow Mario takes place. It is the
same as any other encounter; you approach him and he'll run off. The best
tactic here is to run and shoot water at the same time (hold R lightly and
move). Chase him all around the village area, spraying him as much as
possible. After you sprayed him enough, he'll disappear and leave a Shine
behind. Take it and this episode is over.
Episode 8: The Red Coins of the Lake
------------------------------------
First off here, go to the village area. There, go right through the gate and
into an area full of tall trees and high wires. Follow the path to the left,
but go down and left when it goes up the hill. Jump onto the low tightrope
and follow it to the next platform. Continue across some platforms and you'll
find the first Red Coin on a tightrope further ahead (1). Go in the water and
you will notice a Red Coin floating above several Coins on the water. Swim
out there and jump onto a lilypad, then use the Hover Nozzle to reach the Red
Coin (2). Go back to land and head back to the village area. Go up the
tightropes and onto the rooftop, and break the red box to get the Rocket
Nozzle. Head back to that area with the trees, and follow the path to the
end. You'll notice a couple of poles with a tightrope high above. Rocket up
to there and grab the Red Coin on the wire (3). If you look around, you'll
notice a taller pole with higher tightropes attached to it. Drop down and
rocket up to that one, and go along the tightrope leading over the lake. Jump
to get the Red Coin when you come to it (4).
Go back to the ledge and walk along the other rope. Jump over the spark when
it comes towards you to avoid damage. Jump to grab another Red Coin (5) on
the way. At the other side, go along the next rope and watch out for the
enemy on the next platform. Jump on it to kill, then go along the following
tightrope. Jump over the spark and take the sixth Red Coin (6) you reach.
Continue to the next long line of tightrope with a spark moving along it.
About halfway through, jump up and down on the rope to bounce upward and
reach the high Red Coin (7).
Now, drop all the way down into the water below. Swim onto the dry land and
follow the path up the hill and over the bridge. Go along the winding path
and start going up the path surrounding the windmill mountain. Along the way,
break open the blue box and get the Hover Nozzle again. Continue to the very
top of the mountain, then jump on one of the ledges rotating around the
windmill with it. As you go up, face the wires and the platform with a Blue
Coin above it to the right. Jump and hover onto that platform, then go across
the wire and jump to grab the last Red Coin (8), and the Shine will come out.
Go down and head up the path to the top of the windmill again. This time,
ride the ledge on the blade upward, and hover into the small alcove behind it
to get the Shine and complete this world.
Secret Shine #1
---------------
As you did in Episode 3, head into the hillside cave to start the course.
Pound the red switch to make 8 Red Coins appear, for you to collect within
1:00:00. Above the second back-and-forth moving platform to the left is the
first Red Coin (1). Continue to the area with the shifting blocks. There are
4 Red Coins there, one in each corner (5). Out to the right up ahead, you'll
notice 2 spinning star platforms. Jump/hover to the first one, and grab the
Red Coin on it (6). Jump to the following one and do the same (7). Somersault
and hover to the left onto the platform after the section with the giant cube
blocks. On the left side of that, there is one more star platform for you to
reach. Somersault and hover there and take it (8). Grab the Shine at the end
of the area to complete this one.
Secret Shine #2
---------------
Just like Episode 6, get into the cave north of the windmill. Be sure to pick
up the Turbo Nozzle first. Inside, hit the switch and you'll have to get 8
Red Coins in 1:30:00. Start by going onto the flipping platforms, and
somersaulting above a red one in the middle to get a Red Coin (1). Jump to
the other side, then jump above the 1-Up on the spinning star platform for a
second Red Coin (2). Get across the pit via the rotating cube, then head
across the path with the arrows that try to push you off the sides. Jump to
get another Red Coin (3), then ride the rotating cube upward. Use the shadows
on the way up to collect 2 more Red Coins (5).
At the top, head onto the next set of flipping platforms. There are 2 Red
Coins in the opposite corners (7), and one in the middle area (8). Get them
and a Shine appears. Take it and this secret Shine is yours.
Getting 100 Coins
-----------------
Starting off with getting 100 Coins, I would recommend having Yoshi with you.
I also got this Shine in Episode 8, so the information I supply here might
vary depending on the episode you chose. There are several circles of flowers
in the village and forest areas. If you spin around and water them all,
making them all bloom at the same time, they will give you 6 Coins. You will
get 6 Coins for each circle you bloom in that fashion. In the forest, have
Yoshi knock out the beehives, then eat all the bees for plenty of Coins as
well. After you've done those, get off Yoshi and collect the Coins atop the
trees. Also, swim around in the lake and climb up onto the tightropes above
to get more Coins. After all that, you should have 100 Coins.
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
After you're done with Bianco Hills, head northward past the Princess and
Toads. Continue up the street and you'll notice a dock that is fully covered
with the gooey crap. Spray the big pile in the middle to uncover a Gatekeeper
plant. Defeat it, then the slime will dissipate and a building will rise out
of the dock, complete with a "M" symbol painted on the side. Spray it to
activate, then jump in to begin the Ricco Harbor world.
======================
World 2 - Ricco Harbor
======================
Episode 1: Gooper Blooper Breaks Out
------------------------------------
From the start of this watery stage, head straight up the ramp and onto the
boat. Go down the ramp and climb onto the gate with the flipping panels, just
like in the SNES Super Mario World. Cling to a flipping section and press B
to flip to the other side. Clean up the mess and kill the enemies here, then
climb up to the gate on the ceiling. Jump up through the flipping panel to
reach the top, and continue onward. Talk to the guy walking back and forth,
and kill the small Blooper, then go right as the arrow directs you to. Jump
onto the moving platform when it comes near and ride it to the ledge at the
other side. Jump onto the gate there and climb to the ceiling, then go
straight. Head to the right and you will see 2 flip panels. Hit the left one
and go to the other side. Then, drop down to the orange-red platform with an
arrow on it.
Wait for the moving platform to come close to you, then jump on and go across
to another platform. There, talk to the Delfino residents and one will hint
at raising the submarine. Aim at the spinning wheel hanging above and shoot
at it until the sub is completely raised. Grab the Blue Coin that comes out,
then jump onto the sub and run across it. At the other side, use the Hover
Nozzle and fly to the ground. Jump onto the moving platform when it comes up
from the oil, and ride it to the above ledge. Go along that path and jump
onto the street of the town above.
From here, head to the right and you'll see a crate in the street. Ground
pound it to reveal a manhole (more details on this further along). Anyway,
continue and you'll notice something wiggling from the area of crates in
front of you. Approach the tentacle and pull it out until it snaps off. The
giant Gooper Blooper will jump out of the crates and battle you, so read the
Bosses section for help here. After the fight, clean up the mess the boss
left and take your Shine!
Episode 2: Blooper Surfing Safari
---------------------------------
From the start, go right and you'll notice a dock made of logs. Go across
them to the end of the pier, where you will find 3 colored Bloopers. You can
pick any one you want to ride around with (hence the episode name of Blooper
surfing). Green is the slowest/lowest jumper, yellow is medium in both, and
purple is the fastest/highest jumper. Pick any one you want, but I prefer the
green one for now. To accelerate a little faster, hold Up on the Control
Stick; to make sharp turns, hold Down while turning, and to jump, press A.
Follow the path of Coins throughout the harbor. They will lead you to a
cavern at the end. Enter the cavern and you will be on a platform at the end
of a water racetrack. Pick a colored Blooper you like and you will be in a
timed race. Make it all the way around the track in under 1 minute and win a
Shine.
Episode 3: The Caged Shine Sprite
---------------------------------
Start by going to the right and up the ramp onto the other boat in the
harbor. When the hook comes to your side, jump on and hang on for the ride.
Jump onto the ledge at the other side, then defeat the enemy on there. Turn
left and jump onto that moving platform when it swings by. Jump to the gate
at the other end, and climb up it. Flip to the other side and jump to the
hook when it's close. Jump to the next gate, climb to the flip panel, flip
around, and jump to the next hook/hold on as it moves across. At the other
end, jump onto the top of the cage below and defeat some Blooper enemies.
Ignore the hologram of the red box for now.
Up ahead you will notice a platform that's moving up and down. Jump on and go
up with it. On the way up, you'll notice some blue beams you can jump onto.
Jump to them and go talk to the Delfino resident on the nearby platform.
Follow the path as the arrows direct you to, squirting the Bloopers off the
ledge. When you come to a crate, break it and jump onto the hook when it
comes by. When it comes, somersault up to it and hang on as it takes you to
another gate. Jump to the gate and climb up to the flip panel, then punch it
to flip around. Jump to the next gate and flip to the other side of that one
as well, then jump to the platform.
Follow the arrow sign pointing to the left and hover over a few gaps, then
shoot off a couple of Bloopers at the far end of the path. Go left at the
corner and break the red box to get the Rocket Nozzle adjustment. Walk
between the two up-pointing arrows and jump onto the trampoline. Bounce to
the upper ledge and continue going straight. At an intersection, go left and
jump to the following ledge via the trampoline. Do it once more to reach
another ledge, then follow the path around. Jump up 2 more trampolines and
then fall into the yellow cage at the top. When you land, grab the Shine
nearby and you're done with this episode.
Episode 4: The Secret of Ricco Tower
------------------------------------
In this episode, you really won't have to go far, which is great. Anyway,
head straight ahead and onto the ship from the first episode. Go down and
flip to the other side of the gate. Talk to the sailors if you like, then at
the back wall, wall kick and grab onto the ceiling. Jump through the flip
panel there to reach the top area, then look to the left to find the tower.
Go forward by the smokestack, then hover over to the area surrounding the
tower. You will notice several tall beams around the tower, and 3 arrows
between each set of beams pointing upward. The idea is to wall jump between 2
beams and reach the planks at the very top. It may take a few tries, so
practice and you will have it. Once you get there, hover into the tower.
Inside, you will lose FLUDD and will be forced to go through an obstacle
course again. This time, it's full of rolling pathways, so that shouldn't be
too bad. When you walk onto one, be ready to jump to the top part so you
don't slide off the sides. After you get past those, you will be on a regular
platform with walls on both sides. Wall jump to get the 1-Up above you. The
next part of this course is 3 rotating and moving gear-like platforms. After
you get past those, you will be faced with more of those rolling pathways
like in the beginning; this time they are tilted for added challenge. Make it
across those and the Shine at the end is yours!
Episode 5: Gooper Blooper Returns
---------------------------------
Here, the giant Blooper is back again; this time sitting on the helipad in
this stage. To get to it, head straight onto the first ship, and get across
to the other side of it (by the smokestack). Once there, use the Hover Nozzle
and fly down to the ground by the tower from the previous episode. Go right
and you'll notice a crate; crush it to uncover a manhole. Ground pound into
the tunnels and head northward into the town area. At the very end of the
road, jump up to the above-ground area again.
You will notice a new fruit dispenser and an arrow pointing out towards the
water. Drop down to the lower areas and them hover onto one of the many boats
surrounding the helipad tower. Hover to the middle area and get the Rocket
Nozzle adjustment. Then, go along the logs and jump onto a boat again. Charge
it up and blast upward to the helipad, where you'll fight Gooper Blooper once
more. Visit the Bosses section below for help beating this guy again. After
you beat it, take the Shine that appears to leave this stage.
Episode 6: Red Coins on the Water
---------------------------------
Once again, the Blooper-surfing dock has returned near the start of the
stage. So, go right and across the logs to the dock. Ground pound the switch
and you will be directed to collect 8 Red Coins within 2 minutes. The timer
starts right away, so quickly grab a Blooper (I prefer the yellow one for
this course) and head out. Follow the path of Coins straight and to the left.
It'll lead you through the first 3 Red Coins close to each other (3).
Continue going straight and follow the Coin trail to the right. Get ready for
a sharp left turn at the far end of the harbor, and grab the fourth Red Coin
(4). Follow the line of Coins and it'll pass around the helipad. Stray off
the coin path and take the next Red Coin from under the helipad (5).
Continue straight and you'll see a yellow submarine up ahead. Before you
reach it, jump and grab the Red Coin in the air (6). Be careful to steer
around it, then pass the sub and keep going straight. Follow the path of
Coins to the next Red Coin (7), then head to the left along the path. The
Coin path will lead right into a boat; jump the boat and grab the last Red
Coin in between it and the other boat (8). The Shine will appear on the
starting dock, so head back there and claim your prize.
Episode 7: Shadow Mario Revisited
---------------------------------
As with the Episode 7 in Bianco Hills, you deal with Shadow Mario again here.
The key to winning this time around is to shoot and run; that way you can
finish him off that much quicker. Anyway, go straight and shoot at him at the
starting place, and run onto the first ship. Somersault and hover to the top
of the cage and follow him to the smokestack. Jump atop the smokestack and
somersault/hover to the high beams above. Chase him around up there, spraying
him down as you give pursuit. After he's had enough, Shadow Mario will drop
the Shine and the episode will be done.
Episode 8: Yoshi's Fruit Adventure
----------------------------------
As a quick note: you cannot complete this episode until you have obtained
Yoshi. You do so after completing Pinna Park by chasing Shadow Mario in
Delfino Plaza until he leaves the egg behind. Anyway, from the start, go into
the nearby manhole. Follow the tunnel north all the way to the end, then jump
out and you'll be in the town area. There, go north and you will see the
Yoshi egg, and the fruit it wants from you. This one always wants the Dorian
fruit (the one you must kick around). Go back a bit and you'll see the giant
crane that raises/lowers the platform below. Jump onto it, then
somersault/hover onto the first fruit dispenser tower. Ground pound the
switch on the roof to make a fruit come out. If it's not the right one, hover
to the other tower and pound that switch alternatively. Once you get the
right fruit, carry/kick it to the egg and it'll hatch into a purple Yoshi.
With Yoshi, ride him to the north edge of the town area, where you will see 2
fish jumping up from the water below. Spray the fish with Yoshi's juice and
they will turn into horizontally-moving platforms. Jump aboard and ride a
platform out to the platforms over the water. At the other end, jump onto the
blue platform. Go left and jump/flutter up to the ledge with a palm tree. Eat
a melon to turn Yoshi pink, then go back to that ledge. Spray another fish
that jumps out and it'll turn into a vertically-moving platform. Ride it
upward to the next higher ledge, then jump off. Spray another fish and repeat
to reach an even higher platform to stand on.
From there, spray one more fish and ride the vertically-moving platform to
the top ledge with the Shine in a cage. There, have Yoshi spray the juice
generator atop the cage to clear it up. Then, get off Yoshi (press X) and
climb the cage. Pound through the flip panel and drop in to get the last
Shine in this area.
Secret Shine #1
---------------
After you complete Episode 2 the first time, return and get into the cave
where the race takes place. Choose to race a second time. This time, you must
complete the lap in under 40 seconds to win the Shine. You might want to go
around this a few times, that way you know just when/how fast to turn, so you
don't waste any time.
Secret Shine #2
---------------
Return to the room atop the tower in Episode 4. This time when you enter the
course, pound the switch and 8 Red Coins will appear for you to get within
1:30:00. You'll also have the aid of FLUDD to help you through this. Start by
getting onto the second rotating rectangular platform, then somersaulting to
get a Red Coin (1). Do the same on the fourth platform for another one (2).
When you get to the regular platform, wall jump to get 2 Red Coins and a 1-Up
(4). Jump across to the second rolling gear, and somersault to get another
Red Coin (5). In the next section with more rotating platforms, somersault on
the second platform to get the next one (6). At the beginning of the fourth
platform, jump to grab the seventh Red Coin (7). On the large rotating
platform, jump in the middle area to get the last Red Coin (8). Go to the end
and grab the Shine to exit here.
Getting 100 Coins
-----------------
Your best bet for getting 100 Coins is to come back in Episode 3. Start by
dropping into the first manhole. Go all throughout the tunnels, collecting
around 20-25 Coins in there. Make your way up onto the blue catwalks high
above the area. Defeat all the Bloopers to get their Coins, as well as the
many Coins scattered around up there. If you don't have enough by then, get
the Rocket Nozzle and rocket to the top of the tower, then rocket upward from
the roof to get 10 more Coins. Once you get 100, go grab the Shine in the
village area.
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
Once you're done with Ricco Harbor, from the house where it was located, go
back to the mainland. Continue all the way east to the east end of Isle
Delfino (consult the guidebook if you are lost). Go north and onto the
shoreline, and you will notice a huge oil spill there. Approach it and hose
down the middle part to reveal a Gatekeeper. Defeat it, and a lighthouse will
emerge. Clean up the Toad nearby, then water down the "M" mark and enter the
Gelato Beach stage.
======================
World 3 - Gelato Beach
======================
Episode 1: Dune Bud Sand Castle Secret
--------------------------------------
Starting off in this new beach-themed world, talk to the dancing man and he
will tell you not to step on the Dune Buds. Those are small plants located
along the beach, and form sand structures when watered down. Anyway, go onto
the main shore and head to the left along the beach. There are Dune Buds
along the way; the one you're looking for is in front of a path leading out
to a sand bar. Water that Dune Bud and a sand castle will appear on that sand
bar. Run to it and enter to begin the platformer mini-game.
For this simple challenge, jump across a few sand blocks (when you step on
these, they will start to disintegrate, so keep moving). Run across the next
several sand paths until you reach the giant sand castle at the far end.
There, jump up the sand blocks, standing on the orange blocks when you need a
rest, since they do not disappear. Get to the top of the structure and you'll
find a Shine on a ledge opposite a 1-Up. For an extra Shine, as usual, return
and hit the switch, and collect 8 Red Coins in the alloted time.
Episode 2: Mirror Madness! Tilt, Slam, Bam!
-------------------------------------------
Upon entering this episode, you will be alerted of a giant Wiggler sleeping
atop the tower, as well as strange red creatures messing the alignment of 3
mirrored panels. Go onto the mainland and you'll see the first mirror panel
above the trees. Allow one of the blue creatures to fling you in the air.
Land on a treetop and hover onto the mirrored panel. Spray the creature to
the other end until it's balancing on the edge. Then, go to the other end and
ground pound to fling that creature off. One mirror taken care of, 2 more to
go. Go down and head to the back of the area. Somersault onto the upper
ledge, and repeat to reach the backmost area.
From there, get to the left side of the area. Continue to the left, where you
will find a small building. Somersault to the roof, then jump/hover to the
second mirror panel. This time, shoot the 2 creatures to the other side, then
ground pound the high end to fling them away. When you end up on the roof
again, jump into the tree nearby and then onto the tower. Walk around to the
other side, then somersault and hover onto the last mirrored panel. Repeat
the same pattern, but for 3 creatures this time. After this is done, the
mirrors will all be reflecting sunlight at the mirrored ball atop the tower,
and the Wiggler will fall off. The Shine will appear down on the beach; go
down and get it to complete this episode.
Episode 3: Wiggler Ahoy! Full Steam Ahead!
------------------------------------------
Because of your actions in the previous episode, the giant Wiggler is now on
the loose throughout the area. It is furiously running around on the beach.
Go onto that beach and get closer to it. This is going to be a boss battle
versus the creature, referred to as Hana. Read the Bosses section for help
beating it. After the fight, the Shine will appear on the sand bar where the
sand castle was in Episode 1. Go there and claim your Shine!
Episode 4: The Sand Bird is Born
--------------------------------
From the start, go straight onto the mainland. Then, continue behind the
building and somersault to the upper ledge. Continue into the back and you
will find a Dune Bud in a small alcove in the wall. Water it to grow some
stairs, then go up them and continue along the path to the top. Once there,
stand by the edge and you will notice a string of Coins leading down the hill
to the tower. Slide down the path and bounce on the trampoline, then fly into
the broken egg shell. You will enter a mini-game stage atop the Sand Bird.
Here, you are atop the Sand Bird as it circles a tower high in the sky. You
must collect 8 Red Coins in order to reveal the Shine. 7 of those are on the
Sand Bird itself, so go grab those when you can. After you have them, stay to
the middle and be careful when it flaps its wings. That means it'll start to
turn sideways towards the left. When that happens, use the Hover Nozzle and
float onto its side, so you still have a safe spot to stand. When it levels
out again, jump back onto its middle area. When you finally get above the
middle tower, hover to it and grab the last Red Coin (8), and the Shine.
Episode 5: II Piantissimo's Sand Sprint
---------------------------------------
In this episode, a flag is planted atop the mountain, acting as the finish
pole of an upcoming race. From the start, go forward and approach the purple
guy known as II Piantissimo. He will challenge you to a race from here to the
flagpole. When the race starts, follow him and somersault to the upper ledge.
Continue to the alcove where there would normally be a Dune Bud that you can
water to reveal stairs. Instead, wall jump to the top, then continue. To
shave time off your race, do not follow the paved path; instead go left and
run up the steep grass hills to reach the finish. If you win, you'll get the
Shine.
Episode 6: Red Coins in the Coral Reef
--------------------------------------
Obviously, your objective this time is to hunt down 8 Red Coins. To start
off, get to the main beach and head all the way to the far west end of the
beach. Out there, you will find an underwater coral reef. The Red Coins are
all found in that area. So, dive in and swim around, and you should find them
all. There are a couple Red Coins that move around in the water, due to
schools of fish pushing them along, so make sure you look for those as well.
When you get them all, the Shine will appear on the surface of the reef.
Surface there and take it to complete this episode.
Episode 7: It's Shadow Mario! After Him!
----------------------------------------
Of course, as the name implies, you are chasing down Shadow Mario in this
area. When the level starts, give chase as usual, while spraying him every
time you get close enough. Follow him all around this area until you finally
stop him, and then he'll disappear. Take the Shine left behind to win.
Episode 8: The Watermelon Festival
----------------------------------
Now, there is a party of sorts going on at the beach, since there are 3 giant
watermelons on the beach, and a festival taking place. Head to the west end
of the beach and you will see a contest going on to see who has the biggest
watermelon. Talk to a lady and she will tell you to roll a watermelon to the
end of the pier to enter. There is a nearby watermelon in the back area, but
it's too small, so you need something bigger. The biggest watermelon is atop
the cliff, so head back and up a couple ledges. Get to the alcove with the
Dune Bud and water it to make stairs appear. Go up them and follow the path
to the left to the very top.
Once there, start rolling the watermelon back down the path. When you get it
to the bottom of the stairs, push it straight ahead through the large
opening. Be sure to spray/ground pound the red creatures in the way, because
they will pop the watermelon if hit. After you get the watermelon onto the
beach, push it to the right to the pier at the end. Push it along the pier
and the man in the hut will accept it (if the watermelon breaks at any time,
return to the cliff to find a new one). They will throw the watermelon to the
roof so it can be dropped into the mixer's blades inside. Jump to the roof
and hover over the hole to get the Shine.
Secret Shine #1
---------------
After you complete Episode 1 the first time, play it again and enter the sand
castle's course. Get to the second regular platform and pound the switch to
make Red Coins appear. You must collect them all within 1:00:00. Start by
running and jumping across the series of sand paths to get the first one (1).
Jump onto the safe block at the end of the first several sand paths for
another (2). At the very end of the sand paths, you'll find a third one (3).
At the sand castle, there are two Red Coins in each of the front corners, so
go grab those (5). Jump/hover into the middle area and grab a sixth Red Coin
(6). Get to the top of the castle and the last two Red Coins are situated on
opposite ledges. Collect them (8) and the Shine will appear at the bottom; go
get it to exit here.
Secret Shine #2
---------------
In the north area of the stage, you will find a lone Dune Bud behind the
large mirror towers. Water it and a staircase with some Coins will appear
temporarily. Spray the wall at the bottom of the steps to reveal a Shine
icon. Completely reveal it quickly and a Shine will appear at the very top of
the area. In a nearby alcove, wall jump to the top and follow the path to the
summit, where you'll get the Shine.
Getting 100 Coins
-----------------
To reach the 100 Coin mark here, it is best to play in Episode 2. From the
start, you can check out the tops of the giant trees on the island to find 4
Coins apiece. Also, get on the swing and shoot in a direction to swing,
reaching several more Coins. On the beach, spray every single blue creature,
then jump on them to get a Coin each. Inside the Surf Cabana, you can jump to
grab 4 Coins, and swim under the pier by the Sand Cabana to get some more
Coins. Also on the beach, you could stand under shadows and have a blue
creature throw you upward, grabbing a string of Coins there. Atop the hut on
the ledge, rocket upward to get some Coins, too. Spraying the green birds
that are around will get you some more Coins, as well as rocketing to the
tops of the ropes and other ledges, and jumping to get some Coins if you can.
This is a really annoying stage in which to get 100 Coins, so you must look
EVERYWHERE in order to get them!
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
Now that you're done with Gelato Beach, head back to the south, and then
westward to the opposite side of the isle. Before you reach the end, take a
road to the right into the middle area of the town. You will come to a large
pool; hover across to the other side of it, then go straight. Turn left and
talk to the panicked Toad, then go under the awning to trigger a cutscene. A
Mecha Bowser is sitting in the harbor, with Shadow Mario piloting it. He has
also taken the Princess captive and sped off to a distant island. So, jump
into the red cannon on the platform and you will be shot off to Pinna Park.
====================
World 4 - Pinna Park
====================
Episode 1: Mecha-Bowser Appears!
--------------------------------
This first episode in Pinna Park starts off showing Shadow Mario standing in
the amusement park. Go forward and up the path into the park itself, and
Shadow Mario will start to run. Chase him through the park and then he'll
stop in the middle of a fountain. A cutscene will show a giant Mecha Bowser
surfacing from the fountain, piloted by Shadow Mario. The owner of Pinna Park
will think it's all a performance, and allows you to ride on the roller
coaster. That is perfect, since you need the leverage to attack. Read the
Bosses section to find out how to defeat Mecha Bowser here. After it's over,
a cutscene will take place revealing what Shadow Mario really is. After he
escapes with Peach again, take the Shine left behind in the fountain.
Episode 2: The Beach Cannon's Secret
------------------------------------
From the start, head along the beach this time around. As you go down the
beach line, you will notice Bullet Bills being shot at you. Spray them for 2
Coins apiece, or avoid them as you approach the cannon. When you get close,
it'll start shooting timed Bob-ombs. Spray one to neutralize it for a bit,
then pick it up, and jump/throw it at the cannon operator. A couple hits will
kill the operator and the cannon becomes unusable. A light then shines out
from inside, so jump in to start an obstacle course-type level like in every
other episode.
Starting in this one, go straight onto a group of disappearing blocks. The
Yoshi block does not disappear, but the other platforms will fade and
disappear, only to reappear moments later. Get across them all to the next
regular ledge with an arrow pointing upward. Pound the 3 crates in the corner
for 2 Coins and a 1-Up. Now, you can either go all the way down the path of
Yoshi blocks to grab 2 more Coins, but that isn't necessary for this
challenge. Jump onto the orange trampoline on the ground to bounce to a
higher one. Once at the top, there is another path of disappearing blocks.
They all disappear in a row, then reappear after they all vanish. Go across
the first group, then from the safe ledge, go across the second one. Be quick
or else you will fall! At the very end, take the Shine and you'll be done.
Episode 3: Red Coins of the Pirate Ships
----------------------------------------
Head straight into the park from where you start, and a cutscene will point
out the 2 swinging pirate ships in the park. Head straight and slightly to
the right, and follow the arrow sign to the right. You will come across a
stairway leading up to the ride, so go up and take the first Red Coin on the
platform (1). Talk to the guy there and he will warn you that for every 3
swings, the ships will make a full rotation. On the first ship, if you ride
it as it goes up to the right, grab a Red Coin in the air (2). Get onto the
ship in the back and when it goes up to the left, jump for a third one (3).
While at the left high point on the back ship, jump/hover to a cage in the
air. Climb to the top and grab the next Red Coin (4).
From there, drop down to the side of the cage, and hit the flip panel to get
inside. Grab the Blue Coin if you want, then ground pound to flip underneath
it. Climb along the gate above and collect another Red Coin as you go along
the path (5). At the end, drop down to the grating below. Go up the path and
you will notice 2 Electro-Koopas hanging below on the grating you're walking
on. Ground pound where they hang and they will fall off. Go back to where you
fell onto here originally and ground pound to hang under it. Head up the path
by means of hanging, and you'll reach a Red Coin (6). At the end, jump into
the cage. Climb to the top and jump onto the roof of it, then step onto the
wooden platform where the roller coaster ride starts.
Grab onto the gate above and climb up it alongside the starting hill of the
coaster. There are 3 Electro-Koopas walking around above; press A when you're
under each one to knock them off. As you climb upward, you will take the
seventh Red Coin (7). Climb back down and land on the wooden platform. Double
jump so you're at the top of that gate this time, then run up the hill. Grab
the last Red Coin and the Shine will appear nearby. Take it and this episode
will be complete.
Episode 4: The Wilted Sunflowers
--------------------------------
Starting off, you will be shown several eggs and a wilted sunflower on the
grassy areas of the beach. Head to the right and talk to some of the
sunflowers to find that the creatures within the eggs are eating their
nutrients under the surface. To stop them, spray a giant egg with water until
it surfaces as a giant hatchling. Don't attack it; after wandering for a
moment it'll try to crush you. Run to avoid that, then ground pound its
underbelly to kill it. That will make a patch of sunflowers grow, and one of
the ones you were talking to come back to life. Repeat this for all 5 giant
eggs, and the giant sunflower will reward you with a Shine.
Episode 5: The Runaway Ferris Wheel
-----------------------------------
From the start, head straight into the park and you will be shown the ferris
wheel. It is spinning way too fast, and there is an Electric Koopa sleeping
on a platform behind it. Start by heading to the right like you did in
Episode 3. Go along the path under the arch, and continue up the hill. Follow
the dirt path all the way to the top, where you will find 2 people waiting to
ride the ferris wheel. Go back under the arch near those people, and you will
notice a grassy path leading to the back area. Swing the camera view around
and you will see several gates and water below. Drop down to the watery area,
then climb onto the outward-facing side of the low blue gate. Climb up and
you will notice several red gates with the flip panel symbol on them. Spray
the ones in front of you with water and they will flip down, allowing you to
stand on them. Spray the others and go across them, and onto the next blue
gate.
Climb up and spray the red gate in front of you, then get onto it. Spray the
one right next to it, as well as the one in front of the second one. Climb up
the blue gate and stand atop the cage. Climb along the gate to the left and
punch off an Electro-Koopa on the other side. Go back to the flip panel and
pound into it. Hit the other flip panel on the side, then climb along the
other side of that gate with the Electro-Koopa. Knock off the other one in
the same fashion. After that, stay on the outer side and continue onward. You
will see 2 red panels on the other side that you can spray. Spray them, then
hang on the top one. When they swing back to where they were, you will go
with it.
Now, climb onto the ledge above and climb on the gate, punching out the 2
Electro-Koopas on the other side. Go back to the ledge and grab onto the red
panels below. Spray through them to make them swing out, then climb up to the
blue area and continue to the left. At the end, jump to the ceiling and up
through the flip panel to a higher ledge. There, you will find a tightrope
hanging above. Jump on top of it, then bounce up a couple times until you
grab onto the grating above. Jump up through the flip panel, and that will
knock the Electro-Koopa away, making the ferris wheel go back to normal
again. To get the Shine, jump onto the ledge to the side and then onto one of
the ferris wheel cabins when you can. Ride atop one to the top, then jump to
the platform and grab the Shine.
Episode 6: The Yoshi-Go-Round's Secret
--------------------------------------
At last, you will finally find Yoshi in this stage! It is not yet hatched,
but you will find the egg somewhere in the park. Go forward into the park and
the camera will show you a Yoshi-go-round ride. Head straight and defeat an
Electro-Koopa (wait until it throws its shell at you, then jump on the actual
Koopa to defeat it). Talk to the people by the ride and they will mention a
missing orange Yoshi from the ride. So, head to the right and follow the path
under the arch. Go up the first hill and you will see a giant tree trunk with
an X on it. Go behind it and onto the ledge to find a person standing next to
a Yoshi egg. Above the egg, it'll show you what fruit you must bring back in
order to get the egg to hatch (it varies each time you play).
So, go around the park and find the fruit you are looking for. Carry it back
here and the Yoshi egg will hatch. Your next objective is to make the Yoshi
turn orange. Jump onto the Yoshi and run up the hill, and you will find a
gazebo with a pineapple in it. Eat it and Yoshi turns orange. Go back down
the hill and into the Yoshi-go-round ride. Go to the spot where the missing
Yoshi belongs, and you will be warped into a platformer (obstacle course)
stage.
There, go ahead and jump across several rotating cubes. At the safe platform,
you will see 4 rows of colored Yoshi blocks going around a central area. Jump
onto a purple one, then a green one when one comes close. Then, jump to a
black box and finally a blue one. When you get to the other side of the wall,
repeat this in the other way to get to the next platform. Jump onto the box
and it'll bring you across to a series of boxes. Go left and forward to the
edge, then jump onto the next moving box. Ride it to the other end, then jump
onto the next block and double jump to the higher one. Wall jump to the very
top, and then follow the path around to an up-and-down moving box. Jump onto
it and ride it to its peak, then jump to the next platform and continue
around to the Shine.
Episode 7: Shadow Mario in the Park
-----------------------------------
Another pursuit after Shadow Mario is what this episode is about, as usual.
Chase him all around Pinna Park, while avoiding/killing the Electro-Koopas
along the way. Water him down as you give chase to end the run quicker. When
you beat him, take the Shine out of here.
Episode 8: Roller Coaster Balloons
----------------------------------
Here, go straight into the park area. Once there, you will be shown several
balloons flying high above the island. When you get control again, head to
the right. Follow the path under the arch and up the hill. At the top, go
across the wooden suspension bridge to the start of the roller coaster ride.
Talk to the person in green in front, and accept the balloon-popping
challenge. You will then be put on the roller coaster. You must hit 20
balloons with the rockets found along the track in the 3 laps you have around
this track. This is harder than you may think, since you must be quick to
wipe them all out in time. When you eveutually do so, the Shine appears on
the starting platform.
Secret Shine #1
---------------
After completing Episode 2 once, return there and drop into the cannon to
start the course. Pound the switch and you'll have to collect 8 Red Coins in
1:00:00 with the help from FLUDD. 6 of the Red Coins are situated above the
disappearing blocks in the first section, so jump and hover around to collect
those (6). In the next section, bounce up the trampolines to the higher area.
Grab the Red Coin in front of you (7), then when the path of disappearing
blocks shows up, slide across to the end and grab the last one (8). The Shine
will then appear in front of you; take it and you'll be warped out of here.
Secret Shine #2
---------------
After you beat Episode 6, return to that obstacle course and pound the switch
to start this challenge. You must collect 8 Red Coins in 2:00:00. Luckily,
you'll have the help of FLUDD to get across the Yoshi blocks in the middle
area. Start off by getting to the second safe platform and pounding the
switch. From there, get across the Yoshi blocks to the blue one. Ride it
through the wall to get a Red Coin (1). At the other side, jump onto a black
one and ride it back through the wall to get another one (2).
Continue to the giant structure and head around it to the section where you
have to wall jump upward. Collect 2 Red Coins on the way up (4). Jump to the
brick block and get the Red Coin there (5), then jump back and go the other
way. At the edge, drop down to the lower platform and get another Red Coin
(6). Wall jump back up to the top area, then jump onto the block that goes up
and down. At the peak, jump to get a Red Coin (7). When it goes down, jump to
the lower ledge to the left for the last Red Coin (8). The Shine will appear
above; go get it to complete this stage.
Getting 100 Coins
-----------------
For this stage, getting 100 Coins is SO easy! It can be done without even
setting foot into the park (only certain episodes). Your best bet is to enter
in Episode 8, when there will be many flying enemies along the beach. Each
time you spray down/jump on one, you can get 5 Coins. Because there are so
many of those, you can easily get 50-60 Coins from just that. Then, you can
hose down the entire beach for a great bounty of Coins. That should get you
to 100+ right there easily.
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
When you get out of here, you will see Shadow Mario holding a Yoshi egg. Give
chase through the streets and rooftops, spraying him until he gives up the
egg. A thought bubble above the egg will show what fruit you need to hatch
it. Go to the east beach of the plaza and you can find any fruit you need
there. Bring it to the egg and you will get Yoshi! You will now be able to
use him in every level by finding the egg and giving it the appropriate
fruit. You can also go and complete Episode 8 of Ricco Harbor as well.
Anyway, board Yoshi and get up to the roofs again. You will notice a large
building with a giant pineapple stuck in the chimmney. Have Yoshi eat it,
then drop down into the next world, Sirena Beach.
======================
World 5 - Sirena Beach
======================
Episode 1: The Manta Storm
--------------------------
Starting off in this sunset beach area, follow the path pointed out by arrows
into the mid area. Go up the steps and talk to the man standing next to the
lot of goop. He will explain that a paper-thin silhouette came and made the
hotel vanish. A scene will show the Manta surfacing from the water, and then
coming your way. This is a boss fight, so visit that section for help here.
After you beat it, the lot of goop will disappear and the hotel will
resurface. The Shine will also appear in the fountain in the front, so go get
it there.
Episode 2: The Hotel Lobby's Secret
-----------------------------------
Now, the Hotel Delfino has fully reappeared since the first episode, so you
can enter now. Go up the path to the hotel, and talk to the manager standing
in front of the doors. He will tell you that it is infested with ghosts, and
sends you inside to try and fix the situation. Avoid the white ghosts, and
you'll see several pink ones floating in the middle area. Spray them and they
will turn into pink blocks for a period of time. Somersault onto them, then
somersault and hover over the balcony on the second floor. Once there, spray
the pink Boos and repeat to reach the third floor. From there, hover over the
balcony into the mouth of the golden Boo statue. You will be warped to the
obstacle course challenge as usual.
In here, go across the block path, jumping on the small creatures on the way.
At the end, somersault to the upper ledge and continue. You will then notice
flying creatures going back and forth over the 3 gaps ahead of you. Jump onto
the enemy and bounce to the next ledge, until you get to the end. There is a
wall of blocks in front of you; get under it and jump to break them. Then,
wall jump and break the higher ones. Once you clear them, wall jump to the
top ledge. Go along the path of sand blocks that disappear under your feet.
At the intersection, go north to the regular ledge.
From there, go forward to the end and ground pound the watermelon blocks
until you reach the solid platform at the bottom, and grab the 1-Up that
appears. Drop down to the rotating block below and it'll bring you to the
sand blocks at the other side of the gap. Stay on top of it, then jump to the
sand block on the other end. Jump across the blocks to the other end, and
claim the Shine to leave here.
Episode 3: Mysterious Hotel Delfino
-----------------------------------
From the start, head straight up to the hotel and talk to the manager to go
inside. Once you're in the hotel, go straight to the middle area. From there,
get to the back left corner of the room where a man is standing. Enter that
room, which is the men's room. Go to the last stall and look up to find water
damage in the ceiling. Somersault up there and you'll be in the tub of a room
upstairs. Go around the wall and talk to the woman, who mentions the strange
painting on the wall. Spray it and a Boo painting will appear. Jump through
the painting into the next room.
There, go to the other end of the room where the Boos are. You will see 4
closet doors, each with a portion of a Boo picture across them. Spray them
until the Boo side is exposed, then you can enter the following room. Spray
the pink Boos and jump onto them, and you'll see a square hole in the
ceiling. Somersault up through it, which happens to be a missing tile in the
floor upstairs. In the room you jumped up to, spray the bookshelf and walk
through the passage to the next room. Talk to the man if you like, then step
onto the odd-colored tile to fall into the room below. There, break a crate
and take one of the pineapples.
Now, go through the door out of this room. Go to the back end of the room and
go downstairs to the lobby. There, bring the pineapple to the Yoshi egg by
the counter and it'll hatch. Jump on Yoshi and head up the stairs to the top
floor. Yoshi can eat the Boos for Coins, so that'll help you when navigating
the halls up there. At the top floor, go to the back corner next to the
enclosed pool with a Shine above it. Go through the open door into that room.
Jump on the bed and go through the ceiling into the attic. Land up there with
Yoshi.
From where you start off, go up the path not blocked by a Boo. At the
intersection, take the path opposite the sleeping Boo. Eat the next sleeping
Boo you come across, and go around the corner it blocked. Head straight and
take the second left turn to find 2 sleeping Boos, one on each side. Eat the
one to the left and follow that path to an area with 4 Coins. Take them, then
pound on the cracked tile to fall into the pool room below. Take the Shine
and this stage is over.
Episode 4: The Secret of Casino Delfino
---------------------------------------
In this episode, make your way into the hotel to start. Once you're inside,
head to the back left corner of the lobby. Talk to the man blocking the blue
door and he will lead you into the casino below. In here, there are two giant
water-powered slot machines. You spray the 3 rollers to make them move. Get 3
Coins, win 1 Coin; get 3 triple Coins, win 3 Coins; get 3 7s, you get a
better prize. Get all 3 7s on both machines, and a curtain will rise,
revealing a new game. For this one, spray the panels and it'll reveal part of
a picture of a Shine. Expose the entire picture and a pipe will appear; jump
in to reach the obstacle course platform challenge.
In this mini-game area, head across the platform, going around the 2 moving
cubes. Jump onto the spinning one and ride it across the pit. At the other
side, jump onto the regular platform and go across the area, while going
around the giant cubes. Be careful they don't push you off the edge of the
platform, though. At the other side, jump onto the rotating cube and go
across the pit on it, jumping to stay on top of it. Next, jump across the
ledges that come in and out of the walls. Go across the rolling pathway at
the end, then jump to the final ledge and take the Shine. For another Shine,
come back, hit the switch, and collect 8 Red Coins to get it.
Episode 5: King Boo Down Below
------------------------------
After starting, head into the hotel again. Talk to the guy guarding the door
in the corner and enter the casino once more. In here, all of the attractions
are closed, and there are more Coins sitting around. Be careful though, as
some are disguised as Boos. You can tell which ones are fake since the real
ones spin, and the fake ones remain still. Go onto the giant roulette wheel
and ground pound the only purple space. You will be lowered into another
roulette table below, and King Boo will appear. Read the Bosses section for
information on dealing with this boss. After you win, the Shine is yours.
Episode 6: Scrubbing Sirena Beach
---------------------------------
When you arrive here, you will notice that the entire area is covered with
the electrical goop from episode 1. You have 3 minutes to clean it all up,
however. It's all along the beach, and in the plaza area outside Hotel
Delfino. Your best method of cleaning this up is by lightly holding R while
running, moving back and forth; that way you can cover more ground quickly.
Start with the beach and work your way to upper levels. After you have
cleared up just about all of it, the timer will stop and you'll hear a chime.
Go talk to the man on the beach and he'll give up a Shine for you.
Episode 7: Shadow Mario Checks In
---------------------------------
As usual, this is another chase Shadow Mario stage. Head to Hotel Delfino and
talk to the manager to get inside. Once there, pursue the watery culprit by
spraying and running. Chase him around the lobby and on the upper floors.
Some Boos may take the form of Shadow Mario, so be careful. The fake ones do
not move/run when attacked, so remember that and keep after the real one.
After you hit him enough, take the Shine he leaves behind.
Episode 8: Red Coins in the Hotel
---------------------------------
From the start, go up the path and talk to the manager to get into the hotel.
Inside, go forward and pound the switch in to start the Red Coin challenge.
You have 5 minutes to find/collect 8 Red Coins throughout the hotel. Start by
going forward and retrieving the first one (1). Then, get to the back right
area of the lobby, and enter the women's room. Take the Red Coin in the far
end of the room (2), then exit and go across into the men's room. Somersault
and wall jump through the water damaged ceiling into the second floor. There,
spray the painting and a Boo will be revealed. Jump through the painting into
the next room, where you'll find the next Red Coin (3).
Next, go back through the painting to the previous room, and bounce on the
bed to reach the pool's changing room above. Go into the pool area and grab
the next Red Coin sitting on the opposite end (4). Go back into the changing
room and exit through the door. In the hall, take the fifth coin out in the
open (5). Go to the other corner of the hall, right next to the pool. Enter
that room; you will see 2 kids sitting on a bed. Bounce on the bed into the
hole above to reach the attic. Up there, take the path to the left (opposite
the custodian). Take the first right turn, then go all the way to the end,
Turn right again and collect 6 Coins, then pound through the cracked floor to
reach the room below. In there, spray the poster that reads DOLPIC on the
wall to reveal a hole. Jump through and take the next Red Coin (6).
Jump back out of this room, and ground pound the odd-colored tile in the
room. You'll drop down into the storage room, where you found the pineapples
earlier. This time in here, go through the opposite doorway to find the Red
Coin (7). Go into that room and collect a Blue Coin if interested; otherwise
go through the door and into the main hallway. Out here, pick up the Red Coin
in the middle area (8). The Shine will appear in the lobby, so go downstairs
and take the prize.
Secret Shine #1
---------------
Upon completing Episode 2 the first time, return and enter that course again.
Play through it until you get past the brick-breaking, wall jumping part.
Pound the switch on the upper ledge and you'll have to collect 8 Red Coins
within 1:30:00. Start by going onto the first sand path and jumping to grab
the first Red Coin (1). Continue along and scoop up the second one on another
sandy path (2). For the next one up ahead, somersault and hover upward to
grab it (3). Continue to the regular platform, then across the watermelons.
Grab the Red Coin at the end (4) and pound down to the bottom. Before jumping
onto the gear, jump outward and drop a little, then hover onto an
inaccessible ledge below the watermelon blocks and ice cubes. Go up the path
and grab the Coins and a Red Coin (5), then go back and jump to break the
block. Ride the gear across the gap to the other end. Once on the sand
structure, there are 2 Red Coins on the ground on each side; grab those (7).
Jump to the top area, then jump to the start and hover to get the last Red
Coin (8). Continue to the end and grab the Shine.
Secret Shine #2
---------------
After you beat Episode 4, return there and play the casino games until you
can enter the mini-game. Once there, pound the switch and the quest to
collect 8 Red Coins within 1:00:00 begins. Start by jumping to get the one in
front of you (1). When the spinning cube comes, ride it across and jump to
get the next one in midair (2). On the other side, try to get around the
giant cubes and jump/hover over the first small pit to get the next Red Coin
(3). Continue onto the rotating cube platform up ahead. Hover to get the Red
Coin above the pit (4), then get onto the in-and-out moving ledges up ahead.
Somersault on each one to get 3 Red Coins (7). Continue onward to the rolling
rectangular platform, and somersault/hover to get the last one (8). Continue
to the end to reach the Shine.
Getting 100 Coins
-----------------
In any episode other than the first one, it is really simple to collect 100
Coins. Simply navigate the passages and check out every room in the hotel.
There are several Coins in the small moat in the lobby, out in the open on
each floor, and 10 in the pool room, not to mention the Coins you can find in
the attic. Even before entering the hotel, you can spray the torches outside
the building to grab Coins, or find them in the huts. If you don't have
enough, you could also play the water-powered slots in the casino to win some
more, or ground pound the regular slots for even more.
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
After the adventures in Sirena Beach, jump off the roof towards Bianco
Square. Head west towards the boathouse and you'll find Shadow Mario with the
Turbo Nozzle in his hand. Approach him and he'll jump onto the rooftops and
run around up there. Get up there and chase him around while drenching him
whenever possible. When he's had enough, take the Turbo Nozzle he leaves
behind. Now, head to the center area of the plaza, by the giant pool. You'll
see a strange beam of light above a Shine symbol on the floor. Stand in the
light and look up at the sun; you will be warped to Noki Bay (World 6).
==================
World 6 - Noki Bay
==================
Episode 1: Uncork the Waterfall
-------------------------------
From the start of this beautiful area, talk to the old man in front of you.
He will show you a creature that corked the waterfall, and is polluting the
bay. So, head straight across several platforms in the water (do NOT go in
the water or you will lose health). Continue to the shaded platforms that act
as steps leading to the top. Once at the top, jump onto the basket above the
ground, and somersault and hover onto the next ledge. You'll see an icon on
the wall; spray it and a hidden room will open revealing a Coin. Hover across
the pit while avoiding the gooey balls from above, and clean off the symbol
on the wall. A new ledge will come out of the wall for you to jump on. Use it
to reach the next ledge, then hover over to another one.
From here, hover across another large gap. Clean up the mess on the platform
there and continue to an arrow sign pointing upward. Stand on the hanging
platform and spray water into the cracked jug in front of you. Doing so will
raise the platform you're on. At its highest point, turn around and
somersault, then hover to the higher ledge. Go up the hill, cleaning it off
so you don't slide down. At the top, jump onto the giant wheel, then
somersault and hover to the top platform. Up there, somersault to the wall
and wall kick, then use the Hover Nozzle and get onto that high ledge. Go up
the path and talk to the kid, who offers you to use his special springboard.
Spray the springboard and it'll become compact size for you to carry. Drop
down to the lower ledge with it and drop it by the high wall. Bounce on it to
reach the top of the wall, then continue onward. Jump up the steps and wash
off the top ledge, and the cannon enemy sitting atop the cork will start
throwing timed Bob-ombs at you. Spray them and start jumping/throwing them
back at the cannon. When you make a direct hit, it'll be over for the
creature, and the waterfall will be uncorked. Take the Shine that appears.
Episode 2: The Boss of Tricky Ruins
-----------------------------------
Here, start by talking to the kid in front of you, replacing the old man from
before. Then, go straight and to the left, jumping across the platforms.
Bounce on the trampoline to collect many Coins above, then continue to the
ledge aside the water with the old man on it. Talk to him and he will reveal
a secret of the wall painting above. After he's done talking, look up at the
wall painting and spray it to open up a series of paths in the wall. They
only stay out for a minute, so you must be quick.
Start by wall jumping to the upper right ledge. Go right and wall jump up to
the top of that path. At the top, get onto the right ledge and go around the
bend. Wall jump to the upper ledge from there. Go right and you'll find a
second wall painting; defeat the small Bloopers and spray the wall painting,
and you'll open up a new series of paths above. Wall jump through the rather
straightforward areas. When you come to a ledge on the right, walk around the
path and run up the hill to the top. Then, wall jump to the very top area.
Defeat the small Bloopers and you will see the Gooper Blooper boss again. If
you don't remember how to beat this guy, visit the Bosses section. After the
fight, a hole will break open where the giant Blooper was sitting. Drop into
the Noki King's tomb and take the Shine.
Episode 3: Red Coins in a Bottle
--------------------------------
In here, you will meet the old fisherman once again. This time he is holding
a bottle. You automatically talk to him from the start, and he gives you some
scuba gear. He then shrinks you down and puts you in the bottle for a diving
challenge. You must collect all 8 Red Coins in the bottle. You have as much
time as you need, provided you have the health. Use FLUDD to move around the
area, and don't do anything to sink. Collect Coins to recover your health
when needed. The Red Coins are a pain to get, so just collect them all and a
Shine appears at the bottom for you to collect.
Episode 4: Eely-Mouth's Dentist
-------------------------------
Starting off here, you must come to the old man atop a ledge high above the
area. Talk to the young one at the start and he will give you the scuba gear,
as well as a rope to quickly reach his grandfather (the old man). Go up the
rope and then continue up the mountain as you did in Episode 1. When you
reach the old man, he will give you information on a cavity-filled eel in the
waters below. When you're ready, jump into the waterfall and the fun begins.
In the dark grottos below, you will sink to the bottom where the eel resides.
As you go downward, you will notice all the Coins on ledges along the way.
Remember this all, in case you need health, which you will. Watch out for
purple bubbles on the way down, as they will hurt you. When you get close
enough, the eel will emerge and the fight begins. Read the Bosses section for
help beating this creature. After the fight, the Shine will appear and the
Eely-Mouth will leave. This will clear the waters above for the rest of the
episode, fortunately. Take the Shine and you're done here.
Episode 5: II Piantissimo's Surf Swim
-------------------------------------
When you enter this episode, you will spot II Piantissimo on a ledge above.
Start by talking to the child and grandfather on the starting ledge, then go
up the rope to the high ledge. Jump to the ledge where the runner stands and
he will challenge you again; this time to a flag on the opposite shore. Start
by following him across a couple ledges until he drops into the water.
Instead, use the Hover Nozzle and get onto the ledge he missed. Jump and
hover down to the ledges above the water, then jump/hover across them for a
shortcut to the flag. You should beat him, and he will give up the Shine.
Episode 6: The Shell's Secret
-----------------------------
Starting off in here, jump onto the next platform and talk to the
grandfather. Then, continue across a few platforms and you'll come to a
shaded area, due to the platforms above. Start going up the platforms made
out to be steps, and talk to the young kid standing on one of the ledges. Go
across the first rope, jumping to avoid the spark moving along it towards
you. At the other end, jump to the second rope above and go along that one.
Jump to avoid 2 sparks this time, then at the end, bounce on the rope and
jump/hover onto the high ledge above. There are 2 ropes you can go on here;
head onto the left one and go across to the other side, again avoiding the
spark.
Once there, somersault up to the rope above. Bounce on it a few times to get
to the upper ledge, then go across the shorter rope there while avoiding the
spark current. At the other end of the rope, bounce on it to reach the higher
rope above. Go across the rope to the shell at the other end, and enter it to
start the obstacle course challenge.
To start here, wall jump between the wall and the mirrored see-through one to
reach the top. Then, go onto the rotating plank when it comes near. At the
other end, jump onto the spinning square platform, and then onto the regular
ledge. Go to the wall and somersault to it, then wall jump onto the platform
that moves in and out. Jump across them to the other end. Climb up the pole
and land on the ledge at the top.
Next, run up the hill with the arrows pointing upward on it, and get onto the
ledge atop it. Jump onto the orange platform, and somersault to the next one
as well. You'll see a glass wall there; somersault and wall jump to the upper
ledge. Go around the corner to a pit surrounded by 2 walls. Somersault and
wall jump from one to the ledge atop the adjacent wall. Jump onto and go
across the slow-rotating long platform. Jump to stay on top of it along the
way. At the end, go right and head across the faster-spinning one in the same
fashion.
Jump onto the spinning ledges in front of you, and somersault up to the top
ledge. From there, jump onto the regular ledge and across a larger rotating
platform. At the end, grab the Shine and you're done with this episode.
Episode 7: Hold It, Shadow Mario!
---------------------------------
Judging by the name alone, you must hunt down Shadow Mario yet again. You
should be getting used to it now, with the seventh Episode always being a
chase stage. Jump across a few platforms and start the chase. Pursue him as
he wall jumps to higher areas, making sure to squirt him whenever you can.
After you hit him enough, he'll disappear, leaving the Shine behind. Take it
and end this episode.
Episode 8: The Red Coin Fish
----------------------------
Here, you will start off by getting the scuba gear from the child in front of
you. Then, go up the rope and continue to the top area where the grandfather
is waiting. Talk to him and then jump through the waterfall to dive down into
the depths. Down there, a fish made of Coins contains 8 Red Coins as well. It
swims around the upper area of the depths, but when you get close sometimes,
it splits apart, sending all the Coins elsewhere for a period of time. After
that, the fish will reassemble and continue swimming. Your best bet here is
to press Y and use the Control Stick to move while holding R to find/follow
the fish and collect its Red Coins. When it splits, swim around and wait
until it reassembles, then try to pick off more Red Coins. After you get them
all, you can claim the final Shine at the bottom of the area.
Secret Shine #1
---------------
In any episode, head to the north shore and look up to see a panel on the
wall. Spray it to open a network of passages in the wall. Wall jump to reach
a grassy area at the top. Go west to the edge of it, then look down at a
lower area of the wall to find another panel. Spray that and a tall passage
in the wall opens. Hover down to it and wall jump up it. Go into the first
passage to the left and follow it to the end. There, spray the next panel to
open another passage. Go into the larger opening and you'll be shot to the
top of the area. You'll see a golden bird there; spray it down and it'll drop
a Shine.
Secret Shine #2
---------------
After you beat Episode 6, return to the shell and enter the obstacle course
once again. Get through the first section, then pound the switch to begin the
8 Red Coin challenge. You must collect 8 of them in 1:30:00 to get the Shine.
Start by going left and somersaulting to get the first one (1). Continue onto
the in-and-out moving platforms. Stand on the third platform and somersault
to grab the second Red Coin (2). Continue to the end, then climb the pole to
reach the upper area. Jump and hover from the pole to grab the next high Red
Coin (3). Run up the steep incline to the top, then jump to the red ledges at
the top and grab another Red Coin there (4).
Jump to the next platform to the right and then somersault to the higher one.
Somersault there to get the next Red Coin (5). Get to the next high ledge and
somersault at the back end to get another one (6). Wall jump between the
walls above the pit to reach the upper area, then somersault on the new
platform to get another Red Coin (7). Go across the rotating pathway and
somersault on the next regular platform to get the last Red Coin (8). The
Shine is at the end of the area.
Getting 100 Coins
-----------------
Contrary to what you may think, getting ahold of 100 Coins in this stage
isn't too difficult. The only trouble you might have is navigating the
various passages in the walls throughout the stage. There are PLENTY of Coins
to be found if you go through the various secret passages within the walls
(particularly that tall passage you can open up to the northwest; the paths
that branch off it contain 30-40 Coins at least). There are also many Coins
scattered along the water, particularly in Episode 2 where you can get Coins
on each platform from the start, and jump on the trampoline to get many more
above. There is a boat shop to the north where you can jump into the boat and
steer it around the poisoned waters, collecting more Coins that way. Also,
breaking the crates in/around the boat shop will get you some more Coins.
When you get enough, the Shine appears atop a ledge that you can get to by
means of the tightropes in the middle area.
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
Back here, you will be shown two things; Shadow Mario holding another nozzle
for FLUUD, and a pipe atop a high arch. Head to the north of the sun beam,
and jump to the rooftops to find Shadow Mario. Chase him around while hosing
him down until he drops the Rocket Nozzle. Head back to the middle area by
the giant pool, and look up to the tall tower. Get behind it and rocket onto
the cliffs, then rocket up to the top of the tower. Jump into the the pipe
and you'll enter Pianta Village.
========================
World 7 - Pianta Village
========================
Episode 1: Chain Chomplets Unchained
------------------------------------
In the first episode of this seventh world, there are 3 fiery Chain Chomps
running around the village. Your objective is to catch them all and cool them
down again. Head across the bridge into the village and talk to the villagers
for information, then get to it! Spray the lava trail so you don't get hurt
running around. You will notice a water spring in the village; stay by there.
Wait for a Chain Chomp to come near, then hose it down until it turns black.
Then, grab its tail and turn it so it's facing at the spring. Pull back and
let go, sending the Chomp into the spring, curing its fever. Do the same for
the other two, and the Shine will appear. Take it from atop a nearby mushroom
and head out of here.
Episode 2: II Piantissimo's Crazy Climb
---------------------------------------
Here, head across the bridge and you will meet none other than your "pal"
form earlier, II Piantissimo. He will want to race with you from the start to
a flag atop a giant palm tree. This time, the race is a challenge to you, so
you will have to employ different tactics this time. As soon as the time
starts, head over the gate and follow the road straight ahead. Instead of
running, run and press B to slide ahead, then jump out of the slide and
repeat. Continue straight along the road and you'll notice a stone wall up
ahead. Start the jumps so you can pull off a triple jump over the wall, then
head onward to the giant tree. Run up the tree and touch the flagpole at the
end, then you'll win a Shine.
Episode 3: The Goopy Inferno
----------------------------
This is the only regular stage that you will be without a water pack to boot.
So, start by heading across the bridge into the village again. It is flooded
with lava, and if you talk to people, they'll tell you the Mayor was
evacuating everyone. Go east and under an arch, then walk along the grassy
hill. Jump across a small stream, and you'll find a hole in the ground.
Ignore it and continue along the path through the yellow mushrooms. At the
very end, talk to the man who will tell you that the hole he stands next to
leads to the Mayor. Jump in and pound the gate to flip under it.
From here, follow the paths under the gates, avoiding the harmless enemies
you encounter. At the end, jump onto the wall gate and punch it (press B) to
be moved to another gated ceiling. Jump onto the ceiling at the other end and
continue until you see a line of Coins leading downward. Drop down onto a
swinging plank there and then onto the green mushroom. Collect the Coins and
go across the rope to the next one. Continue across a couple red mushrooms,
then bounce on the green one and jump onto the gate. Climb up and jump onto
the ceiling, then climb over to the other gate wall. On it, press B to move
across to another area. Continue to a Coin below a flip panel, then jump up
through it. Wall jump up to the land above.
Now, jump over the gate and jump across the dry surfaces. You'll reach a
larger area which you can jump up a series of ledges to reach the top area.
Do so and take the Large Water Bottle. Somersault to the top of the yellow
mushroom and spray the messy man, who is the Mayor. Talk to him afterward and
he'll give you the Shine as thanks.
Episode 4: Chain Chomp's Bath
-----------------------------
Starting off, go across the bridge and talk to the Mayor. He will mention a
giant Chain Chomp to the east, whose owner has burnt hands all the time. It
needs to be bathed, and that is the purpose of this stage. Head east and pick
up a barrel of water, and throw it at the Chomp, hitting it. That'll cool it
down for a bit, so go to the part of the chain bolted to the ground and pull
on it. When the Chomp heats up, it'll start to pull itself around the
village, chain and all.
To get him now, pick up another barrel of water and head to the north area of
town by the path leading into the basin (the area highlighted in the opening
scene of the stage). You'll notice the Chomp does not turn onto the path
passing by the basin, so you must stand in the other path to divert him. Do
so, then when he turns and passes the basin, throw the barrel at it. Pull the
bolted chain up the path into the basin, and it'll eventually fall in and
become clean. You'll get a Shine as your reward, which you can get atop the
Chomp.
Episode 5: Secret of the Village Underside
------------------------------------------
From the start, head across the bridge and you'll find a Yoshi egg. It wants
a certain type of fruit, which you can find hanging from a fruit tree on a
ledge in the northwest area of the village. Get the fruit and bring it to the
egg to hatch Yoshi. Then, head back to the bridge and jump off the left side
(facing the village) onto a red mushroom below. Jump and flutter across the
mushrooms, collecting Coins on the way. You will eventually come to a
platform with some yellow goop on it. Spray juice from Yoshi's mouth on it to
clear it, then jump into the hole to start an obstacle course, as usual.
Here, there are several guys known as chucksters standing around. Talk to the
pink one at the far end and he'll throw you across the pit. Talk to the big
guy there and he'll throw you to another platform further up. On that one,
face the up-pointing arrow and talk to the guy to be thrown really high to a
platform up there. Stomp on the creatures in the middle area that keep
reappearing, then look straight at the chuckster and talk to him to be thrown
to the second to last platform. You'll see a chuckster walking around this
one; wait on the left side for it to walk along there. Face the left, lining
yourself up with the Shine platform, then talk to the chuckster while facing
in that direction to be flung there. Jump up the ledges and go ahead to get
the Shine.
Episode 6: Piantas in Need
--------------------------
Back in this area, the lava has returned in patches around the village. When
you arrive, the mayor alerts you that 10 villagers are trapped within the
lava, and that you must save them all within 3 minutes. Start by heading
across the bridge and jumping the gate. Go straight ahead and slightly to the
right to find a small lava pool. Spray it and the villager will come out;
wash them off and they'll be saved (1). Go to the east and spray another
small pool and clean off another (2). You'll find a larger pool along the
eastbound road; spray off the 2 villagers in there to save them (4). Head
north to find another small one behind a tree (5); wash them to rescue them,
as usual.
From here, head north along the road and you'll find a small pool on the left
side of the road at the end. Spray the pile and clean the villager (6).
Continue north up the small incline, and head west; clean the next villager
in the pile (7). Go west past the basin, then continue south down a small
hill to find another mess. Clean it up and save the villager it contains (8).
Go back up the hill and go west, then south at the westmost road. Go south
and clean up the next villager in the muck you find (9). Head to the east and
you'll find one more; clean them and you'll be set (10). Now, go back to the
starting area and talk to the Mayor; he will reward you with a Shine.
Episode 7: Shadow Mario Runs Wild
---------------------------------
Now, this should come as NO surprise to you whatsoever. You must once again
pursue Shadow Mario around the village. Head across the bridge and the chase
will start. The catch this time is that when Shadow Mario runs, he leaves a
trail of lava, so you may want to clean that off as you follow. After you've
hosed him down enough, grab the Shine he drops to complete this episode.
Episode 8: Fluff Festival Coin Hunt
-----------------------------------
Here, head into the village itself and you will find everyone is partying
now. You may also notice plentiful amounts of clouds in the air that you can
hang on. There are also 8 Red Coins for you to collect in this stage. Let's
start by going to the village's end of the suspension bridge at the
beginning; somersault and hover to the leaves above and grab the first Red
Coin (1). Go onto the bridge and walk down it a little, then turn towards the
village looking to the right. You'll notice a section of grating under the
village you can walk on. Jump towards it and hover onto it, then grab the Red
Coin at one end (2).
Next, follow the grating path to a gap at the end. Jump onto the grating wall
at the other side and punch the flip panel to flip around it. Jump and grab
onto the ceiling, and climb straight, then around the corner as it turns.
Halfway along that path, turn to the right and you'll see a grating wall you
can jump to. Drop off the ceiling and hover onto it, then jump to the ceiling
and continue climbing below to the end. Jump through the flip panel and wall
jump out of the pit you end up in.
From here, ground pound the big pile of boxes nearby to expose another Red
Coin (3). Head north and west along the path and you'll come to the basin.
Enter it and dive into the water for the next Red Coin (4). You'll notice the
giant tree to the west of the basin, where you ran up in the race earlier.
Check behind and under it to find another one (5); beware of the bees,
though. After that, go south and jump up a couple ledges to the fruit tree.
This Red Coin sits right under the tree, waiting to be taken (6). Go back
down and head to the west by a field of tall grass. Wander around to find the
seventh Red Coin (7).
Now, this last Red Coin can really be a pain to reach, but it can be done of
course. Head to the center of town below the giant tree with the ledges all
around it. Somersault and hover up to the lowest one. You can sonersault and
hover up the next 3 ledges, and you'll come to a swing. Jump onto it, then
jump from it towards the higher ledge (hover if you need to). Break the red
box and take the Rocket Nozzle from inside.
Drop back down a ledge and get onto the swing again. Stand on it and spray
water to actually swing on it. At the high end, jump onto the fluffy cloud.
If you water it, it gets bigger for a short period of time, so remember that.
Rocket straight up to the cloud above, then rocket onto the giant leaf of the
palm tree. Walk along the middle of it to the middle area. Rocket onto the
platform above the middle and claim the last Red Coin (8). The Shine will now
appear on a cloud high in the air. To get it, walk along the long leaf with a
straight line of Coins on it. At the end, you should see the shadow of a
small cloud with a rope hanging from it above. Jump to it and let it fly away
from the tree towards a group of clouds. When you're above them, drop down
and claim the Shine.
Secret Shine #1
---------------
As you did in Episode 8, get to the very top of the giant tree in the center
of town. Stand on the wooden platform with the insignia of a sun on it, then
look up at the sun and shoot water at it. Uncover the Shine design and a real
one will appear for you.
Secret Shine #2
---------------
After you complete Episode 5, return there and enter the course again. Head
to the switch and pound it to make 8 Red Coins appear; you must collect them
all within 1:30:00. Start by somersaulting and hovering to grab the first one
above (1). Talk to the chuckster by the edge and get thrown across the pit.
At the other side, jump to get the next Red Coin on the platform (2). Run to
the other side of the platform and spin jump, then hover across, diving at
the end to land. Have the chuckster there throw you to the higher area. Up
there, somersault and hover up to 2 more Red Coins above (4). Instead of
talking to the chuckster, look for the tightrope, then jump and hover onto
it. Bounce on it to get another Red Coin (5), then walk onto the platform at
the other end. Jump to get the Red Coin there as well (6). Go back on the
rope and jump/hover to the platform with all the enemies and the chuckster.
This time, talk to the chuckster while facing straight at him and you'll be
thrown to the next platform. On the next platform, somersault and hover to
get the next Red Coin (7). Jump up a couple ledges and jump on the upper
ledge for the final one (8). The Shine will appear in front of you, so simply
grab it to end the stage.
Getting 100 Coins
-----------------
For the 100-Coin mark here, Episode 1 is probably the level of choice. All
around the village are mushrooms with flames atop them. Extinguish the
flames, then ground pound the mushroom to get a cool 8 Coins apiece. Breaking
the crates found in the area can net you many Coins if you pound enough of
them. In the north area, jump the fence and enter the closed basin area.
Ground pound the faucet to get about 10 Coins from that alone. Also, drop
into the empty basin and ground pound in there for another 10+ Coins.
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
When you return after Pianta Village is done (up to Episode 7 at least), the
entire plaza is flooded with rainwater. You cannot reach any areas, so your
best bet is to jump onto a rooftop, then hover onto the dry grassy areas to
the north. Somersault to a higher ledge, where you'll find Shadow Mario on a
platform surrounded by water. Chase him into the nearby cave and you will
enter Corona Mountain, which is the final area of the game. Note that if you
want to finish Pianta Village or any other business you have in the game, you
are free to exit Corona Mountain and the plaza will return to normal. When
you are ready to complete the game, enter the cave again.
===============
Corona Mountain
===============
This fiery stage is the final area leading to the final battle of the game.
Head forward to the edge, then shoot water at the torch platform to
temporarily clear it. Hover over the spikey platforms and land on the unlit
torch platform. Hover across the next spike platform and grab a 1-Up on the
next ledge. Spray ahead at the next torch platform, then wait for the spikes
on the platform before it to go down. Hover onto it, then the currently unlit
torch one. Jump onto the next spike platform when they go down, then continue
to the regular ledge.
The next several platforms are alternating spike and torch ones, apparently.
Spray ahead at the first torch platform ahead and to the right, then hover to
the spike platform when the spikes are down, then jump to the torch platform
you just put out for the time being. Repeat this pattern until you get to the
regular ledge with the water fountain. Replenish your water pack, and pound
the crate to get another 1-Up. Jump onto the boat at the other side of the
ledge. To navigate the boat, you must shoot in the opposite direction in
which you want to move. Steer clear of the columns and the walls because if
you hit one, the boat will sink and you will die. Take it easy and slow, and
you'll make it across in one piece.
When/if you make it to the other side, break the box and take the Rocket
Nozzle. Rocket up to the clouds above. Continue rocketing upward onto higher
clouds until you reach the very top area. You will encounter the final bosses
of the game; read the Bosses section for help with winning this fight. After
it's over, congratulations on playing through Super Mario Sunshine!

-= 7. Bosses -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Gatekeeper
Found: Various areas
Strategy: This slimy piranha plant is the most common of the "boss"
creatures you face in this game. It is actually VERY simple to
defeat, and probably doesn't need a strategy section here, but
I put it just for the sake of completion. Anyway, it just looks
around to the left and right, opening its mouth. Spray its
mouth with some water to cause damage. Do this 3 times and
it'll vanish, cleaning up that particular area.
Petey Piranha
Found: Bianco Hills (Episode 2)
Strategy: This giant piranha plant looks fierce, but it really isn't too
hard to deal with, fortunately. It sits in the middle of the
room, and it occasionally spits out sludge. Emerging from that
sludge is a smaller piranha plant enemy, which you can defeat
by spraying it in its mouth until it explodes. That's the same
plan used to fight this boss. When it's about to spit out
sludge, spray it in its mouth until it fills up. It'll then tip
over, becoming vulnerable in its belly. When that happens, jump
above it and ground pound to cause damage. Do this 3 times
total to win.
Petey Piranha
Found: Bianco Hills (Episode 5)
Strategy: Round two versus this giant plant is very similar to the first
fight, but with an added element. This time, Petey can fly
above the village, but that isn't a match for your Rocket
Nozzle here! Get to a rooftop in the village area and wait for
the piranha to hover over an area. When that happens, spray
water at it and it'll fall to the ground. Drop down to where it
is and it'll open its mouth, ready to spit sludge out.
Sometimes it'll send whirlwinds to hit you with, so avoid those
when possible. When the boss opens its mouth, spray its mouth
until its belly becomes full and the boss falls over. Now's
your chance to jump on top and ground pound its belly to cause
damage. Do this 3 times to win.
Gooper Blooper
Found: Ricco Harbor (Episode 1)
Strategy: This giant octopus creature is a fitting boss for this watery
stage. It has 4 tentacles, which it'll use to pound you with if
you get close or spray it with water. Start by going close to
it, and it'll use its inner 2 tentacles to try and crush you.
Jump to avoid them, then jump on one when it's on the ground to
temporarily stun it. Pull the tentacle away from the boss until
it snaps off. Repeat with the second tentacle. Then, spray the
boss with water and the outer 2 tentacles will try to swat at
you. Do the same for these two tentacles as well. Now, go and
spray the boss in the face, then run up and pull the cork in
its mouth. When you pull it enough, it'll snap back and injure
the boss. It'll return and spray oil all around, so clean that
up and repeat the same strategy again to defeat it.
Gooper Blooper
Found: Ricco Harbor (Episode 5)
Strategy: When the battle starts this time around, the boss will be
spinning around with its tentacles fully extended. Jump over
them all when they come, and spray the boss in its face with
some water. Doing so will stop it, and start the normal attack
pattern of pounding you with its tentacles. Spray its face and
when a couple tentacles are sent at you, jump on one to stun
it. When it's stunned, pull it back until it snaps off the
boss. Repeat this until all 4 tentacles are gone, then spray
the face again and pull the cork on its face. After you snap
the nose, it'll hurt the boss. Repeat the same pattern once
more to defeat this guy once again.
Hana
Found: Gelato Beach (Episode 3)
Strategy: The giant Wiggler is the boss of this beach area, as you can
tell. You cannot damage it directly right now, but there is a
way to make it vulnerable to attacks. Along the beach, you
should remember the Dune Buds planted in some areas. Go stand
by the rightmost one with a person next to it. When Hana starts
to run in your direction from its predetermined path, water the
bud and it'll grow into a pyramid. When the boss hits it, it'll
flip over on its backside. Somersault onto the boss and ground
pound where the arrow points to cause damage. Hana will pick a
new route to go along, moving even faster as well, so head to
the second Dune Bud further down the beach and water that one
when Hana comes near. Damage the boss again when you flip it
over in this fashion, then one last route will be picked. Go
back to the first Dune Bud and water it when the boss comes
around near it. When it's flipped, ground pound the specified
spot and you will kill this boss.
Mecha Bowser
Found: Pinna Park (Episode 1)
Strategy: Through this entire battle, you will be in a car going around
the entire roller coaster. There are missiles that can be
picked up along the way, then shot at Bullet Bills giving chase
or Mecha Bowser itself (press R when one is attached). As you
go around the coaster, you will be alerted of Bullet Bills
chasing you on the track. Simply turn around and spray with
water or shoot a missile to destroy it. When you get closer to
Mecha Bowser, it shoots fire from its mouth, which you can
temporarily extinguish by watering it down. To cause damage,
shoot a missile at Mecha Bowser. You must score 4 missile hits
in order to defeat this boss.
Manta
Found: Sirena Beach (Episode 1)
Strategy: Now, this creature is a REAL pain in the neck to beat! It
starts off as a giant mass which leaves a trail of electrical
goop, which can really hurt you if landed upon. Keep your
distance and spray water at this creature; that will cause it
to divide into smaller forms. Keep hosing them down from a high
perch in a tree or from a distance, collecting Coins to recover
health. After you break them down to their smallest forms, they
will try to avoid you, so that can help. However, when they're
ALL small, they'll turn dark pink and start to follow you. Use
the Hover Nozzle and hover around, killing the small Mantas as
they pass under you, as well as cleaning up some of the goo.
After you kill all the small ones, the boss is gone.
King Boo
Found: Sirena Beach (Episode 5)
Strategy: Dealing with King Boo can be annoying, but it is relatively
simple to win. It runs a slot machine in the middle area; spray
its tongue to make the machine spin. If 3 fruits are aligned,
all sorts of fruit are thrown onto the board; if 3 Coins, then
Coins appear; if 3 question marks, then an assortment of
enemies will come out. If you get the enemies, clear them all
and the slot machine will return. If you get all fruit, pick up
a red pepper and throw it in the boss's mouth. Follow it up by
throwing a pineapple in; that'll cause some damage. Repeat this
3 times and the boss will be defeated.
Gooper Blooper
Found: Noki Bay (Episode 2)
Strategy: As with the past battles with this giant squid, there is no
difference in its battle tactics. Spray its face and it'll try
to crush you with its tentacles. Jump to avoid those, then jump
on a tentacle to momentarily stun it. That's your chance to
pull the tentacle back and off the boss. Repeat this until all
4 tentacles are gone, then spray the face and pull its corked
nose. After the boss recovers from that, it'll spin around and
shoot out oil around it. Clean up some of the mess, and repeat
the same battle pattern you had to win.
Eely-Mouth
Found: Noki Bay (Episode 4)
Strategy: This giant eel deep underwater is going to be one of the most
annoying fights you'll face here. It has several dirty teeth in
its mouth, and you must clean them all. Avoid getting sucked in
and getting hit by purple bubbles, and hover over a tooth to
start cleaning it. Hold A to move around. When one tooth is
clean, go to the next one. When you have about 3 bars of health
left, jet away from the mouth and onto a side area, and
replenish with some Coins. Then, go back and continue the
cleaning. When you finally clean all its teeth, the fight is
over, although this may take a while to do.
Bowser/Baby Bowser
Found: Corona Mountain
Strategy: For the grand finale, you must take on both the giant Bowser
from past games, as well as Baby Bowser, who you may remember
posing as Shadow Mario in the game. For the first phase, Bowser
will shoot flames along the outside of the tub, moving towards
you, while Baby Bowser launches Bullet Bills at you. Shoot down
the bullets and spray Bowser in the face to stop the flame
shooting for the moment. In each corner, there is a black
meteor-like icon. Rocket above each one, then ground pound down
with such force that it knocks out that area of the tub. As you
knock out sides, Baby Bowser will shoot more Bullet Bills to
target you with. Bowser will sometimes jump in/out of the tub
to send a wave of water at you. Continue to rocket at each
corner and use a powerful ground pound to unbalance the tub.
After you hit all 4 sides, the tub is flipped over and you have
defeated Bowser and the game.

-= 9. Delfino Plaza Shines -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
This section of the guide will basically list off the locations of all the
Shines to be found in the Delfino Plaza area. I would have put this in the
main walkthrough, but I couldn't decide on a good spot for it, so it's in an
entirely new section. There are 40 Shines to be had in this area, which I
will list below as I have obtained them.
1. In the northeast area of the plaza, there is a series of platforms above
the water. Somersault onto them, then jump/hover to the far one with a
pipe on it. Go down it to enter a mini-game where you must slide to the
bottom of a steep hill. Do it and take the Shine at the end.
2. At the west side of the center area of the plaza, there is an area with
several umbrellas outside. Enter the open doorway and talk to the man
inside to be offered a challenge. Break the crates in 30 seconds to get a
Shine.
3. Come back to the same building and do the second crate-breaking challenge.
Win and you'll get a second Shine.
4. On the beach to the south of the lighthouse leading to Gelato Beach, spray
the sand and you'll reveal a Shine icon. Completely uncover it and a Shine
will appear on a platform over the water. Hover across those platforms to
reach it.
5. On a rooftop, you will find a guy known as a chuckster. Talk to him and
give him one Coin, and he'll throw you into an otherwise inaccessible
tower. Inside, collect the Shine.
6. After you get the Turbo Nozzle, head to the southwest area of the plaza.
There is a building with double doors there; power up and charge through
to find a Shine inside.
7. Head to the starting point of Delfino Plaza, where you first entered at
the beginning of the game. With the Turbo Nozzle, charge through the
double doors that the guards are standing beside to enter a mini-game.
Power up the Turbo Nozzle and head straight, jumping across the gaps along
the way. Go up the green path in the middle and jump across 2 more blocks
to reach the Shine at the end.
8. On an island to the east of the plaza, there is a golden bird. It'll fly
away when you get to the island. Spray it down and it'll turn into a
Shine, which'll rest on the series of platforms to the north.
9. Once you get the Rocket Nozzle, head to the middle area of the plaza and
rocket up to the giant Shine atop a tower. Spray it down until it is
totally clean. Once it is clean, a Shine will appear high above the tower.
Rocket to the top of it, then rocket upward to claim your Shine.
10. Rocket to the top of the bell tower in the southeast area, and clean it
off. After you do so, a Shine will appear above the tower. Rocket to the
top, then go up to the tip and rocket upward to get it.
11. Rocket up to the bell tower in the southwest area of the plaza. Clean off
the bell to make a Shine come out. Go back down to the ground and drop
into the manhole on a rooftop. Go south and come out inside the bell
tower, then rocket up to get the Shine.
12. After you have the Rocket Nozzle, swim under the bridge to the west. Look
up to see an opening you could not reach before. Charge up the rocket and
jump as it's fully charged to shoot upward into the bonus game. It is a
giant Pachinko (Japanese game) machine, and you must get through it
several times to collect 8 Red Coins. Jump onto the red springboard at
the start to be shot into the board (you get 3 Red Coins right off the
bat). Once you get them all, the Shine appears.
13. Once you have the Rocket Nozzle, rocket to the top of the lighthouse in
the northeast area (leads to Gelato Beach). At the top, you'll be atop a
black block. Rocket upward, then at the peak, ground pound downward. The
force of the pound will break the block and release a Shine; rocket up
again to get it.
14. On an island to the east of the plaza area, there is a pipe with a juice
generator blocking access into it. Get Yoshi, then go to the riverside
where the boats come from. Jump onto the first one and ride it to the
island to the west. Wait for the second boat that goes further (eat a
fruit to sustain Yoshi's power), and ride it to the ledge in the southern
area. Jump to the final boat when it comes and ride it to the east
island. Clear the fruit generator and jump into the pipe. Collect the 8
Red Coins in this challenge and you'll win a Shine.
15. With the Rocket Nozzle, head to the northwest area of the plaza. Jump
into the sea past the cannon to Pinna Park, and swim northward. You'll
notice an alcove in the wall with palm trees hanging overhead. Jump out
and rocket up to a cliff with a pipe on it. Go down into a mini-game.
There, collect 8 Red Coins (extinguish Pianta's back fire, spray down red
bird, kill the enemies) and the Shine will appear.
16. Late in the game, return to the Delfino Airstrip by paying the captain 10
Coins at the dock (after gaining access to Corona Mountain). There, pound
the red switch and you'll have to collect 8 Red Coins within 2 minutes.
Use the Turbo Nozzle to go into the building, up the runway, and along
the water/over the boats to get them all. Take the Shine that appears on
the runway.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= 10. Blue Coins -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
As you may already know, there are PLENTY of Blue Coins hidden throughout the
lands; 240 in total. Some are in obvious spots, while others you must really
search to uncover. Here, I will compile a list of all of their locations as I
find them and how to get to them. Please note that not all of them are
available in every single episode. So, if you can't find one in a particular
episode, try another one until you find it.
================
Delfino Airstrip
================
1. Use the Turbo Nozzle to break through the doors of the building at the
start of the runway. Inside, you will find an ice cube; hose it down to
melt it, revealing the only Blue Coin in the area.
=============
Delfino Plaza
=============
1. On the right side of the statue leading to Bianco Hills, there is an 'X'
on it. Clean it off and a Blue Coin will come out of another 'X' on a wall
in the west area of the plaza. Quickly run/slide to the west, then south
to get it before it disappears. You may want to have the Turbo Nozzle
before getting this one.
2. This time, clean off the 'X' on the west side of the plaza and a Blue Coin
will come out of the 'X' on the statue leading to Bianco Hills. Rush back
there to get it before it disappears.
3. On a rooftop just north of the statue, there are birds sitting on a roof.
One of them is blue. Hose down the blue one as it moves around and it'll
turn into a Blue Coin.
4. In the southeast corner of the plaza, go into the water and swim around
the building. You will find an opening; jump and hover into it and enter
the building to get the Blue Coin.
5. On a rooftop in the west area, there is a crate. Break it and you'll find
an 'M' symbol painted on the wall. Clean it off to get a Blue Coin.
6. In the center area of the plaza, there is a crate on the ground below the
Shine Gate (tall white columns with a giant Shine at the top). Break it
and clean the wall behind it to get it.
7. Behind the Shine Gate, there is a woman with a basket on the wall. She
wants you to put 3 pineapples into it. You can find those in the fountain
near the statue to the south. Throw 3 in and talk to her again to get a
Blue Coin.
8. There is a woman along the south end of the center area of the plaza who
wants 3 bananas in her basket. They are found by a vendor on the east side
of the plaza. Throw in 3 and talk to her a second time for a Blue Coin.
9. There is a woman in the north area, across the river with a basket sitting
sideways. She wants 3 duriens brought into the basket. The duriens can be
found in front of a building on the other side of the river. Kick the
durien lightly to the river edge, then go back a little and slide into it
to get it over the river. Kick 3 of them into the basket and she'll give
up a Blue Coin.
10. On an island to the west, there is a woman who wants 3 coconuts, which
can be put into her basket. You can find these in the tree on the island;
simply spray them off the top. Take one and drop it into the basket. Do
this 3 times, then talk to the woman to get a Blue Coin.
11. From the statue leading to Bianco Hills, drop into the manhole south of
it. Head directly north until you reach a more open area under the water
area. Continue north and you'll reach a dead end with a Blue Coin in it.
12. From the manhole on the ledge to the east of the Shine Gate, drop in and
head west, then north at the first intersection. You'll find a large area
with 8 Coins; continue northwest to a Blue Coin.
13. There is a manhole on a ledge on the west side of the plaza. Drop into it
and head west into the water. Go south at the first intersection, then
west, then south and west to the Blue Coin.
14. Along the north rooftops, there is another blue bird flying around. Spray
it until it drops the Blue Coin it holds.
15. Behind the tower in the northwest area of the plaza, there is an 'M'
symbol on it. Spray it off and a Blue Coin will come out.
16. On the eastern beach, there is a man whose back is on fire. Chase him
down and douse the fire, then talk to him to get a Blue Coin as a reward.
17. After getting the Turbo Nozzle, head to the east shore. Power up the
Turbo Nozzle and head out to the series of platforms over the water. One
of them has double doors at the bottom of it; charge through them and
you'll get a Blue Coin.

blocking an opening there. Spray it with Yoshi's juice to clear it, then
get the Rocket Nozzle and shoot into that room to get the Blue Coin.
19. Behind the tower above where the guards stand, there is a fruit
generator. Get onto the roof below it with Yoshi and spray the juice
generator to make it vanish, then go in and get this Blue Coin.

Bianco Hills
============
1. When you approach the river in the beginning, jump in and swim all the way
to the west end. Dive underwater to get it.
2. When you enter the village, check out the white wall to the east. There is
an 'M' mark on it; spray it off and the Red Coin appears.
3. Ride the nearby waterwheel to the top, then jump onto the same white wall.
Drop into an alcove between the walls and you'll find an 'X'. Spray it off
and a Blue Coin will come out of another 'X' on the other side. Wall jump
out of here and get to the other side of the wall outside the village to
get it (you should get the Rocket Nozzle first).
4. At the other side of the wall, spray the other 'X' and a Blue Coin will
drop into the alcove you were in. Get back in there and get the Blue Coin
quickly (you should really have the Rocket Nozzle to get this one quick
enough).
5. In the village area, there is a two-story building; one of which having 2
doorways on a balcony above. Somersault and wall jump, then hover onto the
balcony and spray into the left doorway to reveal this one.
6. Behind a house in the northwest corner of the village, there is an 'M'
symbol on the wall. Spray it off to get the Blue Coin to come out.
7. At the same house, somersault and hover onto the roof. Jump into the east
tower and you'll find the Blue Coin.
8. From the previous one, turn around and jump/hover to the wooden plank in
the air. From it, jump to get the Blue Coin in midair.
9. Atop the white wall to the east, there is an 'M' mark. Spray it clean and
a Blue Coin will pop out.
10. On the other side of the wall, outside the village, head south. Get onto
the wall and you will notice a tall platform with a windmill on the side
of it. Spray the windmill until a Blue Coin comes out on the platform
above it.
11. This one is at the bottom of the lake to the east of the path leading up
to the windmill.
12. As you go around the path leading to the top of the windmill, you'll
notice an otherwise inaccessible platform to the west. Jump and over to
it, then hover above it to reveal a Blue Coin.
13. At the end of the path up the windmill, behind the moving blades, there
is an 'M' symbol painted on the wall. Wash it off to get a Blue Coin.
14. After defeating Petey the Piranha the first time, head up the path to the
windmill again. You'll see a man covered with brown goop; clean him off
and he'll give up a Blue Coin as thanks.
15. Head up the path to the top of the windmill. Ride a blade platform to the
roof of the windmill. There will be a plant there. Approach it and it'll
turn into a cactus creature; defeat it by jumping on it and a Blue Coin
will be dropped.
16. In the forest area outside the village, there is a tree along the north
path with nothing atop it. Get up there and water the top to reveal this
Blue Coin.
17. When you go across the tightropes below the bridge leading to the
windmill, bounce upward on the second rope to a grated ceiling. Climb
around to get regular Coins and a Blue Coin.
18. Atop the high part of the white wall, there is a man covered with goop.
Hose him clean and talk to him to get a Blue Coin.
19. Along the white wall, follow it until it ends at the far east area above
the water. Somersault onto a ledge above and jump to the one with a plant
on it. Defeat the cactus enemy and it'll drop a Blue Coin.
20. At the west area of town, you'll notice a ledge high atop the cliff. Use
the Rocket Nozzle to reach it, and take the Blue Coin sitting idly there.
21. In the northwest area where Petey the Piranha was sleeping earlier,
return after you have beaten him. There will be 2 clouds floating around
this time. Hover across them to the platform where Petey slept. Water it
and a Blue Coin will come out.
22. Also on the high ledge across from where Petey the Piranha slept, get
onto the tall windmill pole. Face the tall towers to the north and
jump/hover to them, and collect the Blue Coin up there.
23. On the same high cliff as the last several Blue Coin locations, jump onto
the lower tightrope. Cross it to reach a tall windmill pole. Drop off the
side and collect a Blue Coin in the air.
24. Behind the westmost building in the village with the two towers on top,
you'll see a painted circle on it. Spray it off and a Blue Coin will come
out of another circle behind a building in the main area of the village.
Quickly head there and get it before it disappears.
25. Same as the previous one, but spray the circle that the first Blue Coin
came out of, then return to the building with the two towers and pick up
the second one that pops out.
26. In the village area, there is a tall windmill pole you can get on top of.
There is a blue bird perched up there, which flies around the area if you
bother it. Spray at the bird until it drops a Blue Coin, then go down and
get it.
27. In the area with all the high tightropes (when you collect the Red Coins
there), get onto the highest one by the windmill. The Blue Coin is on a
platform at the end of the rope.
28. In the lake surrounding the windmill, jump into the west half of it. Dive
to the bottom and swim around to find a Blue Coin.
29. Come back to the forest area with Yoshi. There, you will find beehives on
some of the trees. Eat the few bees flying around it, then have Yoshi
spray down the hive. When the swarm of bees come out, eat them all to get
the Blue Coin.
30. In the northern field of the village area, you will find a blue
butterfly. Take Yoshi there and have him eat it to get the Blue Coin.

1. From the start of the stage, turn to the storage building to the left and
get atop it. Clean off the 'M' symbol on the back wall and you'll get this
one.
2. On the bottom right wall of the same building, another 'M' symbol is
planted. Spray that one off to claim another Blue Coin.
3. In the caged room on the first ship, spray the oil on the floor to reveal
yet another 'M' symbol. As usual, wash that one clean to get a Blue Coin.
4. Jump into the water on the left side of the ship. You'll find an 'M'
symbol there as well. Jump onto the ledge opposite the ship and spray it
for the Blue Coin, then go into the water to get it.
5. Wash off the oil on the ledge next to the first ship, and you'll uncover
yet another 'M' symbol. Clean it up and a Blue Coin will be yours.
6. In the back corner of the oil-spilled area with the towers, you'll find a
large crate. Ground pound it to reveal a Blue Coin.
7. Wall jump up the towers to a platform above. You'll see a couple Coins and
a Blue Coin on the northmost platform hanging between two towers.
8. Spray the back brick wall on the platform below, and an outline of a Shine
will start to appear. Make it appear fully and a Blue Coin will come out.
9. From atop the caged area, look to the crane that moves the platform back
and forth over the water. When it comes near, somersault and hover onto
the top part of it. Walk to the base and grab the Blue Coin when possible.
10. After you climb along the gated areas, you'll drop onto an orange
platform with a forward-pointing arrow on it. The Blue Coin, along with
some regular ones, are underwater below the platform.

atop the fountain to reach it.
13. On a wall above the arrow sign, you'll see an 'M' symbol painted on.
Spray it off and you'll get a Blue Coin.
14. Further into the village, you'll see an 'X' on a building. Spray it until
it's gone and a Blue Coin will come out of another 'X', which is to the\
south by the towers that the oil-spill was on. Quickly get back to that
'X' and get the Blue Coin before it disappears (you'll most likely need
the Turbo Nozzle for this, found in Episode 8).
15. This time, spray the 'X' on the central tower to the south, and a Blue
Coin will come out of the first 'X' on the village building. Drop into
the sewers below and slide all the way north to the end, then jump up and
grab the Blue Coin before it disappears.
16. Get onto the rooftops of the buildings in the village area. On one of the
back walls, you'll find an 'M' symbol. Clean it to get a Blue Coin.
17. Aboard a Blooper, if you shy away to the right from the Coin path, you'll
notice several Coins hovering in the air. One of those is a Blue Coin;
jump when you approach it and you'll get it.

spider crawling on the outside wall of it. Flip to the other side via the
flip panel, and punch the spider off to reveal a Blue Coin.
21. Atop the second part of the cage, there are 2 spiders hanging from the
top area below where you stand. Ground pound to knock them both out, and
a Blue Coin will be yours inside the cage.
22. After you get to the platform with the Rocket Nozzle adjustment on it,
look to the right and you'll notice several Coins and a Blue Coin lining
the side of a tower. Jump onto the moving platform, then onto the
scaffolding at the peak. Hover around the tower blocking your path, then
defeat a couple Bloopers and drop down the edge to collect all the Coins
on the way down.
23. Atop the scaffolding, break the crate and ride the hook to the other side
by the gates. Jump onto the gate, then turn the camera around and
jump/hover onto the highest level of scaffolding. Walk to the end and
collect some Coins and a Blue Coin.
24. With the Rocket Nozzle, get onto the top of the tall building you must
enter for Episode 4. Rocket straight up to collect several Coins and a
Blue Coin, too.

middle area with a Blue Coin on it. Get up there and walk along the
ledge, jumping around the tower blocking the path, to get it.
26. In the village area, you'll notice that a small market has been set up in
the north end. Go there and hose down the buckets of fish to uncover a
Blue Coin.

notice a line of Coins above. Stand under them and charge the rocket,
then jump as you take off. That way you get enough air to reach the Blue
Coin at the top of the line, as well as 10 regular Coins.
24. On the wall to the north behind the boat shop, you will find a circle
painted on the wall. Spray it off and a Blue Coin will come out of
another circle across the bay. Charge up the Turbo Nozzle and go across
the bay to the other circle and collect the Blue Coin (Turbo Nozzle is
found on a small ledge below the edge of the cliff next to the
waterfall).
25. Spray the other circle to make a Blue Coin come out of the first one.
Then, use the Turbo Nozzle and grab this one as well.
26. As you would in Episode 1, make your way to the top of the east cliff.
Near the top you'll come to a small pond and the edge to the left. Look
off the edge towards a wall with several indentations in it to the north,
and an opening at the bottom of it. Jump towards it and hover into the
opening, then wall jump to the top to get a Blue Coin.
27. On the way up the east cliff, you will come to waterwheels and platforms
that rise when you spray water into hanging pots. When you come to the
second waterwheel, drop to the ledge next to it and follow it to the
edge. You'll notice a small alcove in the wall below and in the corner.
Jump and hover into that alcove, then spray the adjacent wall to open up
a new area with a Blue Coin inside.
28. On the same ledge behind the second waterwheel, look to the rest of the
eastern wall. You'll notice a small ledge that goes across, which you can
hang from. Spray the end of it to open up a new section of the wall.
Hover into that area and grab the next Blue Coin.
29. On the north shore again, spray the panel on the wall to open the first
series of passages. Get through them to the grassy area above. There,
look up to find a high alcove with a Blue Coin in it. Charge up the
Rocket Nozzle and double jump so you're at the peak of the jump when the
rocket goes off to reach it.
30. Get back to the top of the high cliff to the west (where Secret Shine #1
was). Walk off the east side and slide along the wall heading downward.
You should pass a large platform on the way; jump onto it and spray the
wall to open 2 compartments. The upper one has a Blue Coin, so hover up
and get it.

Pianta Village
==============
1. Turn around at the beginning and clean off the 'M' symbol on the wall to
get this first one.
2. In the actual village, go straight ahead and you'll find another 'M'
symbol on a wall. Clean it off and get another Blue Coin.
3. Head further into the village and you'll come to another 'M' symbol
painted on the wall below the fruit stand. Hose off the marking and claim
the Blue Coin.
4. Head to the east area of the village and you will find a small stream.
Jump in and swim to the end to find the Blue Coin.
5. Still in the stream, swim to the other end and grab the Blue Coin under
the bridge.
6. Head to the middle area of the village where the giant pool is. Spray the
waterfall where the water pours out of the giant tree to gain another Blue
Coin.
7. In the north area of the village, next to the basin, is a giant palm tree
you can walk up. Go up it to the top, where you will find a Blue Coin
sitting there.
8. Enter the actual basin area, which is either empty or full. Get onto the
faucet that the water comes from, and ground pound it. Many Coins will
come out, as well as a Blue Coin.
9. At the base of the giant palm tree, you will see a triangle painted on a
wall. Spray it off and a Blue Coin will come out of another triangle in
the northeast area of the village. Run across the village to collect it
before it vanishes.
10. Go to the northeast area of the village, and water down the second
triangle on the wall. Then, run back to the other one at the base of the
giant palm tree to find this Blue Coin as well.
11. In the west area of the village, walk in the patch of tall grass. In the
area by the west edge, you will find the Blue Coin.
12. Get to the top of the golden mushroom on a high ledge in town. Once up
there, aim up at the moon and spray it with the regular nozzle to make a
Blue Coin fall from the sky.
13. In the southwest area, there is another large palm tree you can walk on.
Go up to the top, then walk onto the leaf to the left (southward). There
is a wooden platform at the end with a Blue Coin on it.
14. In Episode 3, get to the ledge below the yellow mushroom where you get
FLUDD back. There is an 'M' symbol painted there; clean it off for the
Blue Coin.
15. After getting FLUDD on the platform, start to wash off the lava on the
ground. Head to the south and clean up the lava on the grass. You will
reveal an 'M' marking on the ground by doing so. Hose that off as well to
get the Blue Coin.
16. In Episode 3 after you get FLUDD, get to the southeast area of the
village where you'll find a man on fire. Extinguish his fire and get the
Blue Coin he gives you as thanks.
17. Spray the signpost you see after crossing the starting bridge for this
Blue Coin.
18. In Episode 5, hatch the Yoshi egg. Then, have him eat the bees and knock
out the beehive from the tree. Eat the entire swarm of bees, and the last
one will drop the Blue Coin.
19. In the north area, under the giant palm tree, is another beehive. With
Yoshi, eat the bees and knock out the hive to find another Blue Coin.
20. Above the mushroom next to the fruit tree, there are many blue
butterflies floating around there. Bring Yoshi there and have him eat all
the butterflies. Doing so will win you another Blue Coin.
21. In Episode 6, there are 10 Piantas for you to clean up. 8 of them will
give you Blue Coins if you clean them up and talk to them.

29. In the underworld area with the gates, there is an 'M' symbol on the
ceiling there. Spray it off and grab the Blue Coin that falls out.
30. On the tall tree in the middle of the village, get to the ledge with the
Rocket Nozzle. There is also a blue bird there. When it flies around,
spray it down and it'll drop a Blue Coin.

Corona Mountain
===============
1. This one is out on the open on the second regular ledge in the stage. You
can't miss it.
2. There is no real strategy to getting this one, apart from your own skills
at steering the boat around the end area to get it.

Accessorizing Mario
-------------------
In this game, there are a couple of accessories you can pick up for Mario as
optional amenities. At the east beach of Delfino Plaza, you will find a guy
sitting under an umbrella. He will give you one of two things when the
requirements are met:
Sunglasses: Get 30 Shines.
Hawaiian Shirt: Complete the game once.

As of this version, the file contains all the information I know to date. If
it is a work in progress, give me time before bombarding me with emails about
things being missing. All I ask is that you READ THE FAQ before emailing me,
since that's what it's here for! Don't waste my time (and yours) by asking me
for information obviously covered in the guide. If it's in reference to a
side quest or item, chances are they can be found in another section besides
the walkthrough, so check the appendices as well.
If you have any questions, comments, or things to add that are not already in
this FAQ, feel free to email me. I usually do post submissions, credit given
of course, so long as I feel they are relevant to the game in question. My
email address is: dbmfaqs(at)gmail.com. Thanks for reading, and be sure to
