I assume you have purchased Robotech: BattleCry and intend to complement your
game with the answers and guidance of this FAQ. I assume you know your basics, I'm
trying to guide new players (as FAQS do) and answer their questions (again, as FAQ’s
do). I will not cover basics you could learn by just playing for the first time. Nor
will I tell you how to beat each mission (or any for this matter). You are the pilot
and have quite the arsenal in this game to carry out your missions, all you need now
is some strategical wit and perhaps guidance. None of that this button does this and
that, this is a game CD, press the open button on your PlayStation 2 and insert CD.
There shall never be any spoiling! I can not understand why FAQ writers say stuff
like... after the _some_bad_guy_ kills _hero's_love_ but not before you discover
that _hero_ is a clone... sheesh. This FAQ will not ruin your game, if it does I'm
sorry; flame me. Neither will there be text art here. Don't worry. If you want,
email me and I will send you a text file of a Bud Wiser truck I made.

[ 1. FAQ’s ]

Q01 ) Why is _mission_ so difficult? Please help.

Apparently, because you seek help for a mission that you think is too hard.
It would be logical to just set the difficulty down a notch in the option menu.
If your pride won't let you, just think about this: your here reading a FAQ on
how to play a game; quite depriving. You shouldn't listen to strategy guides or
other peoples advice, that is spoiling the strategy aspect of this game. Just
remember your Veritech can transform in an instant to Battloid/Guardian/Fighter
and can choose from an arsenal of flares, sniper mode, thrusters, strafing,
multiple targeting, two types of missiles, lasers and style. Inside that
Vertices is a pilot who should be resourceful of all these tricks while most
important of all, strategical thinking (where to be, what to do there and how
long). There is a lot to take into consideration before going on your way to
nearest message board or FAQ/walkthrough. This is a FAQ and will answer your
questions; not intricately tell you how to play your game.

This paragraph is reserved for one tip that deserves emphasis and
remembrance. If you're having difficulties on _mission_ then press start and
read the mission objectives and maybe the mission log. Follow those mission’s
objectives as closely as possible and give them all your ability. If it says
protect something, make it your top priority that no or as least harm comes to
it. Don't misunderstand, I know you understand the basics, such as following
mission objectives. Probably most players, and I do NOT follow mission
objectives as though a VT pilot would. Remember, read those mission objectives.

If you have tried everything and just can't understand what the makers of
Robotech: Battlecry were thinking when they designed some part of the game then
perhaps a guide or FAQ/walkthrough will nullify that anger and sort out the
confusion. Prima has a guide and gamefaqs.com has at least one other FAQ with
    help on this.

Q02 ) Is Robotech: Battlecry worth buying?

Yes!! I hope that answers your question :)

Okay okay. Even if you have not seen and never will, for this matter, then
this game is at least rent worthy. If you are a Mech game fan, perhaps you do
not like the idea of this game rendered in cell-shading; playing a game that
looks like a cartoon. If you do intend to start and/or finish watching
episodes 0 - 36 then I must advise you to wait as the game goes over all the
major events happening within the Robotech Macross Saga.

Q03 ) Why are these controls so frustrating? Any tips?

Imagine being in a Vertices pilot, not a skill you pick up in five-ten
minutes of playing. In reality the controls are very easy once you complete
training and chapter 1. Its just a matter of changing into Battliod/
Guardian/Fighter at the right time. Just keep playing, through combat your
    skills will improve.

Q04 ) Why is this game so hard?

Some games are. Try your best should mean something to you in this game.
Robotech: Battlecry is not a leisurely game, like most console games that are
what I would call glory games; just winning is simple fun. This game demands
strategic thinking and skills at critical instances.

Q05 ) Why does my game have bugs?

Let’s assume Vicious Cycle's design of Robotech: Battlecry doesn't include
sound repeating (soundtrack) or voices getting cut off (sound effects). Nor did
did they fix the problem of your Vertices getting stuck. All I can say these are
minor and a bit frustrating. If you happen to find more bugs email me and I will
give praise to your information and post here in this question.

Q06 ) What is progressive scanning?

         http://www.howstuffworks.com/hdtv.htm
         - very informative, the moon on a stick

    Q07 ) How do I get two-player mode?

Plug in the second controller. :/

Q08 ) What is multiple targeting?

It is when you hold down the secondary weapon button in Guardian/Fighter
mode. You must be facing these targets (they must be on you TV screen). You
will see yellow targets around the target reticule that is red. Release the
secondary weapon button to fire all these missiles at once at each target
including your primary target (the red reticule). Note: The maximum number of
targets per multiple targeting is determined by your VT's 'targeting' stat.

Q09 ) Female Power Armor cannot shoot missiles down?

Press triangle to toggle your primary shooting to fire upon missiles or
    targets.

Q10 ) What are the Stars under the Medals on the menu screen 'Awards'?

Each star is earned when you have earned a medal the second or third time.
It is doubtful these stars unlock anything.

Q11 ) What does it mean to complete a set? (ex: Complete Bronze Cross Set)

To complete a set... you must not only earn the medal once but also earn it two
more times. To complete the Bronze Cross Set you must kill 150 Battle Pods.
Example: Bronze Cross award is given when you kill 50 Battle Pods, kill 150 to
complete the set (earning the two starts under the award).

Q12 ) Do I earn credit for killing units on a mission I quit or fail?

         No.

Q13 ) What is a good mission for destroying Battle Pods?

Flood City. (also a good mission for destroying Scout Pods. Enjoy.

Q14 ) I have played 'Hidden Agenda' several and killed enough Scout Pods yet no
          Tuna Medal. Why?

The ones in that mission do not count. You must kill Scout Pods that are
on the ground. If you want to know why I would guess you need to understand the
programming of Robotech: Battlecry yet I doubt Viscous Cycle will give you
their source code, so assume its a programming glitch.

Q15 ) I got the Southern Cross medal and got the Factory versus level but not
          the Armored Veritech.

Push square to select armored mode. Only available in on space missions
    and Versus.

Q16 ) Robotech Marksmen award... must I completely destroy them in Sniper Mode?

You only need to kill them in sniper mode.

Q17 ) How do you get the Super Veritech? (not the Armored Veritech)

This isn't mentioned in the awards section. Super Veritech is unlocked
when you beat Mutiny in Chapter 4.

Q18 ) How do you unlock the VF-1S?

Unlocking this VT isn't mentioned in the instruction booklet or game GUI.
Unlocking Chapter 4 will unlock VF-1S.

Q19 ) Can someone describe to me the enemy units and what they look like?

    Battle Pod
    - fires lasers
    - has two barrels on the bottom and two on the top
    - steel, light blue chassis

    Battle Pod, Light Artillery

    Scout Pod

    - looks like a Battle Pod except without barrels or missile bays, instead of a
missile bays it has a steel gray like device that will emit white waves
    - steel, light blue chassis

    Female Power Armor
    - used only by female Zentraedi with commanding rank; such as Kiyora
    - carry lots of missiles and fires lasers
    - dark green chassis

    Zentraedi Ships
    - there are many different ships
    - have mounted turrets that fire powerful lasers
    - go to the web-sites mentioned in the last section of this FAQ for more info
    - I noticed 5 different types of these ships, all very similar
    - except for one ship that is relatively small; has a lot of missiles and is
      known as a Cyclops

    Male Power Armor
    - used by common Zentraedi males
    - fires a powerful laser and regular lasers
    - has a large and powerful gun mounted on head
    - dark green chassis

    Officer Pod
    - used only by male Zentraedi with commanding rank; such as Khyron or Skarrde
    - mounts a powerful laser on top of pod, and fires two regular lasers from hands
    - red class cockpit, steel gray and light blue chassis

    Entry Pod
    - carries Battle Pods
    - you can fly through the doors and into these
    - if they land and open their doors fire missiles into them for more damage and
      to kill emerging pods
    - dark green chassis

    Zentraedi Shuttles
    - used to carry supplies such as protoculture
    - harmless
    - dark green chassis

Q20 ) Can you use Armored Veritech in Story Mode?

As of yet, no. Only in versus.

Q21 ) What is Robotech (the TV series)?

In this FAQ, Refer to [ 2. The World of Robotech ] some information.

Q22 ) What is Robotech II: The Sentinels?

The Sentinels was to be a sixty five episode sequel to the Robotech TV
series. Funding was cut and only enough footage for three episodes was made.

To sign a petition go to www.petitiononline.com/rt2/petition.html

    Q23 ) What is Macross?

Macross ia an anime; also Robotech's first saga (episodes 1-36) is based
off of. Macross is... Macross: Do You Rember Love (movie),
Macross: Flash Back 2012 (music video), Macross Plus (OVA and Movie Editions),
Macross 7 (TV series) and Super Dimensional Fortress: Macross (TV series).

Q24 ) What is Southern Cross?

Southern Cross usually refers to episodes 37 - 60 of Robotech.

[ 2. The World of Robotech ]

Robotech is a seventeen-year-old animation from the US produced by Harmony
Gold. It is a rewriting and editing of Super Dimensional Fortress: Macross, Super
Dimensional Cavalry: Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada merged into
Robotech.

Episodes 1-36; The Macross Saga (from Super Dimensional Fortress: Macross)
Episodes 37-60; Southern Cross  (from Super Dimensional Cavalry: Southern Cross)
Episodes 61-85; New Generation  (from Genesis Climber Mospeada)

Robotech has attracted thousands of fans over the years. Multiple
companies have tried to profit from the Robotech fan-craze, but often fail in
presenting good authentic and quality creations. Robotech (the TV series) is the
most comprehensive, THE original and most prefered perspective of all the Robotech
Universes.
