2. Introduction/Thanks

Hi everyone! I looked on GameFaqs and noticed that there was no
FAQ/Walkthrough for this game, so I decided to make one. It will pretty
much be a bare-boned walkthrough that will just cover what you need to do
in order to get 100% complete in this game. I will also list what cars
you can win/buy. There is a LOT to do in this game and hopefully this
walkthrough will help sort through everything. Anyways, if anyone has any
suggestions or feedback, look in the contact section for how to contact me.

This game is, in my opinion, almost up to par with Gran Turismo 3. There are
some factors that are worse then GT3 and some that are better. I won't delve
into it much, I will leave it up to you to form your own opinions of the game.

I would like to thank Namco for making such a fine racing game and GameFAQs
for posting this walkthrough. I hope this will help you!

Now, on with the Walkthrough!!

3. Racing Life

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the main story mode for this game. If you are new to this game,
I recommend going into Arcade Mode or Time Trial Mode first, to get the
feel for the game. When you are ready, I suggest doing the Racing Life Mode
first. When I wrote this walkthrough, the difficulty was always set to EASY,
so some stuff might be a little different in higher difficulties. Also, any
cars that I recommend will be the ones that I used and won with. If you like
any other cars better, feel free to use them.

Chapter ONE
-----------

Some cutscenes will play in which the main character, Rena Hayami, is
driving an ambulance for a badly injured race car driver. After showing
the manager of the race car driver's team some nice moves on the road, Rena
be offered a job by the manager to take the place of the injured driver. You
will then be thrown into your first race:

De Tomaso Pantera Cup
---------------------
Course: Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway
Laps: 3
Cars to choose from: Pantera GT5-S: MR, 345 HP, 3064 Lbs.
Objective: Finish First
RP Gained: 6000

After winning the race, you will receive the Pantera GT5-S (GT Class 2)!
You can use the cars that you win in Racing Life in other modes, including
Event Challenges. This will also be the end of chapter one!

Chapter TWO
-----------

A cutscene will play and now you will be "trained in the basics".

Test Session 1

Target Time: 1:51.000

ROUND TWO

Course: Waterbridge Reverse
Target Time: 3:30.500

Cars to choose from: 2 Random Rally Class 2 Cars
Recommended Car: RSX Type-S
Objective: Complete two rally courses in less then 3:30.500
RP Gained: 8000

NOTE: Whatever car you choose to use is the one that you will win at the end
of the chapter and you will also have to use the same car in each of the
rounds.

After beating the target time, you will now have a Rally Car. This is the
end of Chapter Two! (Quick, isn't it?)

Chapter THREE
-------------

After the cutscene, you will continue the racing boot camp.

Test Session 2
--------------
Course: Suzuka Circuit East

Cars to choose from: Toyota VM180: MR, 153 HP, 1984 Lbs.
Objective: Pass the car that starts ahead of you within 5:00.000
RP Gained: 6000

Afterwards, you will win the VM180 (GT Class 3). This is the end of Chapter
Three!

Chapter FOUR
------------

In the next cutscene, Rena will be introduced to her rival, Gina Cavalli.
Now you will begin your first race as a member of G.V.I.

Japan Touring Car Championship Class 3

Course: Suzuka Circuit East Course

Cars to choose from: 3 Random GT Class 3 Cars
Recommended Car: Audi TT

No matter what car you choose, you will win a GT Class 3 Car. This is
the end of Chapter Four!

Chapter FIVE

After the cutscene, you will continue to race. This time a longer and
more challenging championship series.

Japan Touring Car Championship Class 2

Again, no matter what you choose, you will win a GT Class 2 Car. This is
the end of Chapter Five!

Chapter SIX

After the cutscene, you will compete against other G.V.I. members. You
will be driving a Fiat.

G.V.I. Secret Competition
-------------------------
Course: Suzuka Circuit
Laps: 3

Cars to choose from: Fiat 500 F: RR, 299 HP, 1433 Lbs.
Objective: Place First in the Race
RP Gained: 6000

You will win the Fiat 500 F after winning the race. This is the end
of Chapter Six!

Chapter SEVEN

After the cutscene, you will start a series of rally races.

My opponents finished around 11:30 for a total time. You will win a Rally
Car Class 1 Car afterwards and that will be the end of Chapter Seven!

Chapter EIGHT

After the next cutscene, you will enter three drag races.

Surfside Drag Race

Recommended Car: Dodge Charger
Objective: Win all three drag races

Afterwards, you will win a Drag Class Car. This is the end of Chapter
Eight!

Chapter NINE

After the cutscene, you will have to race in a GT Class 1 Series.

Chapter TEN

After the cut-scene, you will play an independant race. It is a two
round rally event.

Chapter ELEVEN

After the cutscene, you will enter a rally tournament. This is a series
of one-on-one races.

After winning, you will win another Rally Class 1 Car. This is the end
of Chapter Eleven!

Chapter TWELVE
--------------

After the cutscene, you will be in a series against Gina and some other
drivers. This one is a bit longer and more challenging then the previous
championship series'.

International GT Car Championship

Chapter THIRTEEN
----------------

After the cutscene, you will enter a classic race. It is just a single
race.

Holiday Classic Race

Course: Green Field
Laps: 3

Cars to choose from: 3 Random Privateer Class Cars
Recommended Car: Renault Alpine
Objective: Win the Race
RP Gained: 6000

After you win, you will receive a Privateer Class Car. You now have a car
in every class except for one. This is the end of Chapter Thirteen!

Chapter FOURTEEN
----------------

This is the last chapter. You will now enter a race with a Prototype
Class Car. This is, of course, the best type of car.

Motegi Super Speedway
---------------------
Course: Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway
Laps: 10

Cars to choose from: Bentley EXP Speed 8: MR, 612 HP, 2019 Lbs.
Audi Infineon R8: MR, 608 HP, 2011 Lbs.
Recommended Car: Bentley EXP Speed 8
Objective: Win the Race
RP Gained: 12000

Congratulations! You have now cleared the Racing Life mode. If you care about
winning all of the cars, then I suggest you go back into Racing Life mode and
pick the cars that you didnt the first time. You can go to any chapter you
want at any time by going into the Chapter Menu. When you are ready to
continue on the path towards 100%, head into the Event Challenge mode.

NOTE: If you want to get 100%, you will have to get all of the cars as well
as their different colors.
