SECTION 1:Introduction
++++++++++++++++++++++

Hello and welcome to my FAQ/Walkthrough for Mega Man X. This guide will be
covering the entire game. In this FAQ, I will include full walkthroughs for
levels, detailed information on boss strategies, weaknesses, and weapons, level
passwords, and several codes for the Pro Action Replay and Game Genie cheat
devices. Please note that the order of the bosses that I am using for this
walkthrough is based on my own experience with the game. If you have a
different order that works better for you, please feel free to do so. Just
keep in mind, however, that this FAQ will be walking you through the game
based on the boss order used in this guide. I hope my walkthrough will assist
you in completing this game. If you have any questions about this guide or
want me to add something, please feel free to use the contact information
provided at the end of this guide to reach me. You may send me your
recommended boss orders, strategies, passwords, or Pro Action Reaply/Game
Genie codes. Not only will I post them on this FAQ, but I will of course give
you credit as well. Oh well, your probably bored out of your ass listening to
me bs, so let's get this game started. Good luck and I hope this FAQ helps
you to complete Mega Man X! Enjoy!

SECTION 2:Story
+++++++++++++++

Since most of you probably don't own the manual for this game, I'll post the
introduction from Dr. Cain's journal here. This will basically reveal how
Cain discovered X and will also summarize the events leading up to this game.
Well, here it is:

APRIL 8
Still nothing. For the last month, I have been sifting through the dirt trying
to find a fossil record which would verify my findings on Mesozoic plant life,
but so far I have come up empty. Tommorow, I'll move my archaeological dig
to a new site. Maybe I'll have better luck.

APRIL 9
Set up camp at the new site and laid out a preliminary gridwork for the dig. I
got some odd readings at location E-46. It looks like something metallic is
buried several meters below the surface. I think I'll being there tomorrow...

APRIL 10
I can't believe what I found! Several meters below the surface was the remains
of a lab. Although most of lab was damaged, I did manage to find papers that
indicate that it belonged to the famous robot designer, Dr. Thomas Light.
I've begun to review what is left of Dr. Light's notes and it looks like he
was onto a major breakthrough. The notes keep referring to "the capsule"...

APRIL 13
I found it. Standing 14 meters high and 8 meters wide, the capsule was hidden
underneath a collapsed ceiling. Even underneath all the rubble, the capsule
has remained intact and was still running some sort of diagnostic when I found
it. There is a warning on the capsule, but all the indicators on the capsule
show green. It should be safe to open it. I'll know tomorrow.

APRIL 14
Today I met "X". Not simply a robot, X is something totally different. Light
has given him the ability to think, feel, and make his own decisions. At
times, X seems more like a man than a machine.

APRIL 15 (my birthday!!!)
Light was a genius! I've been going over his design notes and they are a
quantum leap beyond anything the world has ever seen. Using them as a guide, I
may be able to replicate his design and integrate them into a new generation
of robots. I'll begin transporting X and the rest of Dr. Light's things back
to my lab tomorrow.

NOVEMBER 22
With X's help, I have completed my first "Reploid." Although I don't
completely understand how all of Dr. Light's systems work, I was able to make
some minor modifications and the reploid seems to be functioning perfectly.
His strength and intelligence seem limitless and he is fully able to make
his own decisions. In fact, we got into our first arguement. How intriguing!

JANUARY 3
The new reploids have been running off the assembly line for several weeks.
It's amazing how easily they have been able to adapt to even the most
difficult jobs. It still is a bit odd to see them working side by side with
humans, but everyone seems to be happy to accept them.

FEBRUARY 16
Three reploids went "maverick" today and injured two people before they were
stopped. This is the third instance of this type of behavior and I still
have no idea what is causing it!

There is some talk about stopping the assembly of any more reploids, but I
don't think it will happen. Maybe we've become too dependent on them...

The council has now decided to set up a group of "Hunters" to destroy any
maverick before it can cause injury. The reploid named Sigma has been assigned
to lead the Hunters. Sigma is one of the most intelligent reploids I've
created and contains my latest circuit designs. His systems should be immune
to any problems.

MAY 16
It's been two months since Sigma took control of the Maverick Hunters and he
and his hunters have been able to prevent any further injury to the
population. Everyone is starting to breathe a little easier...

I am a little worried about X. He seems unsure of his place in life and what
Dr. Light had planned for him. But, given time, I'm sure he'll find his way...

JUNE 4
My worst nightmare has just come true. Sigma went maverick today and took most
of the other hunters with him. His motives are unclear, but it seems he
"decided" that humans are inferior and are limiting the growth of the
reploids. For that reason, he decided that all humans should be eradicated.

Most of the population is in hiding or trying to flee the city. I'm not sure
how long we can hold out against Sigma's forces. I fear I've built the
reploids too well.

X is taking the news of the war very personally. He wants to join ZERO, the
new leader of the Maverick Hunters, when he goes after Sigma. I'm doubtful of
their chances but I won't stop them. Something has to be done...

-Mega Man X Instruction Manual; Dr. Cain's Journal

So basically, Cain dicovers X and a whole new world of reploids emerges. Sigma
tunrs evil and now it's up to X and the Maverick Hunters to stop him.

SECTION 3:Mavericks
+++++++++++++++++++

The way this game works is simple. After completing the intro stage, you will
be taken to a stage select screen where you can choose to go through the
stages in whatever order you wish. However, we will be following the order
I have found most effective in this guide. At the end of each stage, you will
fight a maverick boss. If you defeat a maverick, you will receive its weapon.
Each maverick has a weakness to another maverick's weapon. Here is a list of
the mavericks in the order we will be using in this guide:

1) Chill Penguin

  Weapon: Shotgun Ice
  Weakness: Fire Wave

2) Storm Eagle

  Weapon: Storm Tornado
  Weakness:Chameleon Sting

3) Flame Mammoth

  Weapon: Fire Wave
  Weakness: Storm Tornado

4) Spark Mandrill

  Weapon: Electric Spark
  Weakness: Shotgun Ice

5) Armored Armadillo

  Weapon: Rolling Shield
  Weakness: Electric Spark

6) Launch Octopus

  Weapon: Homing Torpedo
  Weakness: Rolling Shield

7) Boomer Kuwanger

  Weapon: Boomerang Cutter
  Weakness: Homing Torpedo

8) Sting Chameleon

  Weapon: Chameleon Sting
  Weakness: Boomerang Cutter

=============                                                    =============

In this section of the guide, I will be walking you through the stages in
every way possible. I will include how to get past even the most difficult
areas and bosses. So dust off that old SNES and let's rock this crap!

###################
INTRO STAGE:Highway
###################

This first level is pretty simple, but don't get used to it because the game
slowly rises in difficulty. Start out by heading right (duh) and blast the
spiked wheel enemy that comes rolling at you. Head right a little more and
you will run into a semi-large robot. Just stand still for a second and he
should either fire two missiles at you (just jump over them) or unleash a
double spark attack, just jump over that, too. Unload on him and continue
right. Blast your way through the enemies here and you should soon come to
an open area where you will have to fight a huge helicopter. Stand as far away
from the chopper as you can and blast it with a charge shot and then just fire
like crazy with regular X-Buster shots. As it takes more damage, the chopper
gets closer and closer to you, so remember to keep your distance. Just dodge
his missiles and keep firing. It shouldn't take long for this thing to fall.
Once he's dead, the bridge will fall along with the chopper. Make sure you're
not standing under the chopper while it's falling or you'll spell Game Over
and have to start from the beginning. Climb back up the right wall by jumping
against it over and over until you reach the top. If you need it, you go
forward a little more and drop down to an area with 2 energy capsules to
restore your health. Climb back up and continue right. You'll only have to
fight a few more enemies until you reach another one of those damn chopper
bosses again. Use the same strategy as before and this guy will fall easily.
Climb back up and continue right. You will soon come to an area with a lot
of jumps and bee bomber enemies. Go through the area, killing the bee bombers
that get in your way. Be very careful here, though. The cracked parts of the
street will fall when you step on them, so make sure you get off them as soon
as possible to avoid death. Once you're done with that area, you should
encounter some flying enemies that try to ram themselves into you. They can
really become quite annoying, so try to take them out as quick as possible.
Keep going forward and you should run into these racecar enemies. When they
drive towards you, jump over them and turn around. Start going all rapid fire
on them and you will destroy them picece by piece. Keep going forward, make
a big jump over the next gap and kill the racecar enemies coming up. Soon,
you will reach an open area where a large ship will hover close above and
drop racecar enemies. Kill off all the cars and soon your first boss, Vile,
will descend from the ship.

*********
BOSS:Vile
*********

Surprisingly enough, you won't be able to harm Vile no matter how much
X-Buster power you unload into the bastard. It's impossible to defeat him
right now,and therefore, useless to fight him. Just let him hit you constantly
and soon he will fire an electric spark at you, immobilizing you. Vile will
grab you and say some taunting crap. Then Zero, coming to X's rescue, will
blast off Vile's arm, freeing you. Now how the hell can a level 1 charge shot
take off Vile's arm when all those fully charged X-Buster shots hardly phased
him!? Oh well, that's just how Capcom is....Anyway, Vile will flee to his ship
and escape. Zero turns to X and says that he shouldn't expect to defeat Vile
so soon. He says that X should master all the abilities he ways designed with
and someday he may become as powerful as Zero. Zero leaves to go search for
Sigma's fortress while X goes on another mission to defeat Sigma's mavericks
and build up his power.....

*You will now be taken to the stage select screen. Our first maverick will be
Chill Penguin, so select his stage and off we go....

##########################
MAVERICK STAGE 1:Snow Base
##########################

When you first enter the level, charge up a fully powered X-Buster shot and
head forward. You will soon run into some rabbit-like opponents as well as
some of those bee-bomber enemies from the intro stage. Blast them and continue
right and you will encounter an axe enemy. He hits those pieces of metal from
that stack he has, but just jump over it and blast him. Keep heading right,
destroying any enemies, and you will soon reach a cave area. Jump down the
ledges and head right, killing the bats in your way. If you keep going right,
you will soon reach a wall. Climb the wall and jump off to the left to reach
the ledge. Head left, killing those annoying spiked-wheel enemies that roll
down the ledge. You should soon reach another wall. Climb and jump off to the
right just like before. Head right again and do the same for the next wall.
Now head left and climb all the way up this next wall and get off at the
right ledge. If you head right some more, you will reach a strange blue
capsule. Approach it and Dr. Light will appear and explain to X that it seems
he was destined to fight, etc. Once he's done talking, enter the capsule to
receive your first Armor Upgrade, the Dash Boots. These babies let you dash,
which is about 3 times faster than walking. Not only can you run faster with
them (duh) but you can also jump farther if you jump while dashing. So head
to the right and kill some more bats. You will soon run into some ostrich
opponents that throw these saw-blades at you. Kill them quickly and continue
right along the ledges. When you get out of the cave, head right and you
should find a Ride Armor suit. These things are sweet and you can cause
massive chaos with it! It controls basically the same way. Press the fire
button to punch and the dash button to...dash! So head right, jumping across
these ledges, and you will run into another guy with a Ride Armor. Poser!
Punch the crap outta him with the power of the Ride Armor and he will soon
go down. Be careful not to fall off the ledge while you're fighting him,
though. Once he's dead, continue right, killing off these bee enemies. once
you get out of that little cave area you were just in, you will reach a wall
and you cannot clear it with the Ride Armor. So yes, you must give up the Ride
Armor here. Exit it by pressing Up on the D-Pad and the jump button at the
same time. Jump over the wall and head up the hill. You should soon see a
large snow boulder rolling down at you. Jump over it and continue up the
hill. You will soon run into a green robot that is causing the boulders to
fall down at you. Kill him and keep going up. Jump the incoming boulders and
kill the greenies as you proceed up the hill. You will eventually come to the
boss door. Get you X-Buster fully charged and prepare for a fight!

******************
BOSS:Chill Penguin
******************

When the fight begins, unload your fully powered X-Buster shot at Chill
Penguin and it should hit him, unless he jumps it, of course. Penguin's main
attacks are done while he is on the ground, so try to stay on the walls as
much as possible. Only come down to attack when Chill Penguin has ceased fire.
His attacks will include hacking snowballs at you, making 2 ice statues of
himself and either destroying them for no obvious reason, or pushing them
towards you. Like stated earlier, you should be able to avoid almost all of
his attacks if you stay at the top of a wall. While he is attacking on the
ground, start charging up an X-Buster shot. When he pauses briefly after
attacking, immediately jump down from the wall and unleash your charged
blast at him. Stick to this strategy and he should go down easily. However, he
will sometimes jump up and grab that lever on the ceiling, causing snow to
blow you in either direction. Sometimes, this will force you off the wall that
you were staying on. So you will sometimes have to quickly dash towards the
opposite wall to avoid Chill Penguin landing on you. But other than that, this
fight should be an easy victory.

##############################
MAVERICK STAGE 2:Airforce Base
##############################

As you start the level, head right and you should soon reach an area with
rising and descending platforms. Hop on a rising platform and ride it up,
killing any enemies on the way up. When you get to the top, jump onto the
next platform and repeat this process until you reach the highest platform.
From here, do a big dash-jump to the left and if you did it right, you
should land on a ledge with a Heart Tank on it. These Heart Tanks are in
every level and they increase your maximum energy meter by 2 units. Once you
have the Heart Tank, jump down and you will find yourself back at the start
of the level. From here, just follow the same procedure as before with the
platforms until you reach the very top. This time, jump off to the right and
continue along the runway until you reach a turret enemy on a rising pillar.
When the turret lowers itself, destroy it and jump onto the pillar. Ride it
all the way to the top and climb up onto the bridge. Shoot out the glass
inside the bridge and head inside. Destroy the robot in here, and continue
forward until you reach your first Sub-Tank. Sub-Tanks allow you to store
extra energy capsules collected and use them at a later time. After you've
gotten the Sub-Tank, continue to the end of the bridge. You will run into a
flamethrower enemy on a rising platform. When the platform comes up, destroy
the flamethrower turret and jump onto the platform. These platforms will rise
and descend. When your platform gets aligned with the other one, destroy the
next flamethrower and jump onto its platform. Repeat this process until you
get across this area. At the end of the area, you should notice a long line
of large batteries on the lower wall. Climb down and continue shooting the
batteries until they explode. Once they're gone, they will clear a path for
you. Head right and collect the extra life at the end of the path. Head back
left and climb up to the upper ledge where you got off before. Go right and
climb up the tall tower. Once you reach the top of the tower, jump down the
opposite side. When you reach the bottom, you will be on a small ledge.
From here, dash-jump to the right and quickly climb up when you hit the ledge
to the right. Destroy the large batteries here and head through. You should
come to another one of Dr. Light's upgrade capsules. This capsule will give
you the Helmet Upgrade. This enhancement allows you to break through certain
ceilings by head-butting them. You can also break through some walls by
kicking against them when you climb them. From the Helmet Upgrade, head back
out and make your way back up the tower. Now jump to the upper right ledge and
kill off the enemies here. Move forward a little more and jump onto the ledge
in the upper left corner and grab the extra life. Go back down and continue to
the right, detsroying all enemies along the way. When you reach the end of a
long walkway, jump onto the first floating platform and quickly jump to next
one. If you stay on these platforms too long, you will fall to your death.
Once you get onto the ship, head right and take out the two turrets in front
of you. Once they're done with, head right and drop down and continue to the
left through the boss door. Climb down the ladder here and jump onto the
lift to the right and it will take you to the top of the ship where you
will fight the boss.

****************
BOSS:Storm Eagle
****************

You should have had a fully charged up X-Buster shot ready before the fight,
so unleash that on him right from the start. He will furiously flap his wings
and try to blow you off the ship. Keep dashing towards him to avoid getting
knocked off. Keep shooting at him with X-Buster shots, while tyring to get
in a few charge shots occasionally. When he stops flapping his wings, he
will fly into the air and do one of three things. 1) He will fly up, stay
there for a second and fly back down. You should immediately start firing
at him if he does this. 2) He will fly off the screen and begin to dive bomb
you. Whe he swoops down, dahs out of the way and quickly turn around and
hit him with a buster shot. You might miss a few times, but keep doing this
until he stops diving. 3) He will hack an egg at you, which you destroy before
it hits the ground. If it touches the floor, it will split into four small
eagles, which can be quite furstrating to destroy. But keep repeating the
strategies for all his attacks and should have this battle in the bag.

########################
MAVERICK STAGE 3:Factory
########################

When you start out, head right and you will see several conveyor belts with
robots being dropped onto them. You can avoid all these robots by simply
dashing underneath the conveyor belts. The ground under the belts should be
frozen since we defeated Chill Penguin, so head right under the conveyor belts
until you reach the end. Climb up and continue right. Grab the energy capsule
on the ledge to the right and drop down. When you hit the ground, continue
right and stop when you reach an elevated walkway. You should be able to see
several blocks in the upper left corner from here. You can destroy these
blocks with the Helemt Upgrade. Dash-jump over to the blocks and keep kicking
against them until you break through and reach the top. This may take a few
tries. When you reach the top, you will see another one of Dr. Light's Upgrade
capsules. This capsule will allow you to charge up your X-Buster to another
level for a much stronger charge shot. You can also charge up your special
weapons to do even more damage! So once you have the upgrade, drop back down
and head right along the walkway. Keep heading right, killing off those
enemies that throw the pick-axes at you, until you hit a wall. You should see
another one of those Heart Tanks right underneath you. Head back to the left
a little more and go right under the walkway to get the Heart Tank. Now go
back to that wall that you hit before, and climb up. When you reach the top,
don't head right just yet. We still need to grab a few items. From the top of
the wall, dash-jump to the left onto a high walkway. Kill off the enemies here
and jump up to the next walkway in the upper left corner. Keep left and you
should soon pick up an extra life. From there, continue left until there is no
more walkway. From here, make a big dash-jump to the left and you should hit a
wall. This wall can be destroyed with the Helmet Upgrade by simply jumping
or kicking against it while climbing it. Once the wall is done, head through
and grab another Sub-Tank. We should now have 2. We're now done in this area,
so head all the way back to the top of that wall and proceed right from there.
Head forward and climb up this next wall. Now go right and you will be in
an area much like the one at the beginning of this stage. It has those
conveyor belts again, but now you won't be able to safely run underneath all
of them like you did before. Proceed right and dash under whatever belts you
can. When you have to get onto one, quickly dash across it to avoid getting
crushed by the trash compactor here. Do this for the rest of the belts until
you are safely out of that area. You shouldn'y need to use a Sub-Tank right
now, but it's ok to if you really need it. If you keep right, you will soon
come to a drop. Go down and head right. You will now be in an area with a lot
of pipes and ladders. When you first enter the pipes, climb up the first
ladder you come to and head right, jumping over the invulnerable enemy that
clings to the pipe. Jump up onto the next pipe and get a fully charged
X-Buster shot ready. You will see an enemy with a spiked ball and shield in
front of you. When you approach him, he will fling the ball at you, but he
will also leave himself open to attack. That's your cue. When he swings the
spiked ball at you, jump over it (touching the chain won't harm you) and
quickly blast him with that charged shot to kill him off. Continue right,
using that same strategy to defeat those shield enemies. When you get to the
end of the pipes area, you will come to the boss door.

******************
BOSS:Flame Mammoth
******************

This big guy is weak against Storm Eagle's weapon, the Storm Tornado. So have
that equipped before you enter the gate. Also, since the X-Buster Upgrade we
picked up allows you to also charge special weapons, you can deal even more
damage to Flame Mammoth by doing so. When the fight starts, he will leap into
the air. Get close to him and unleash a charged Storm Tornado for massive
damage. Once that hits him, quickly retreat to the left and climb the wall.
While you area situated safely in the top corner, (he won't be able to reach
you there no matter what) charge up Storm Tornadoes and unleash them on him
when he gets right underneath you. Repeat this procedure and you should
do him in quickly.

MAVERICK STAGE 4:Power Plant
############################

Enjoy the awesome music here and head right. Destroy the robot here and climb
up the ladder you come to. Kill another robot and climb another ladder. It
will be a little hard to see from time to time, since the room will go dark
every few seconds. Continue right, blasting the robots and climbing the
ladders until you come to a completely dark passageway. As you proceed
forward, these crescent-shaped robots will fly across the screen at a high
speed. You can kill them with just one x-buster shot, but you have to be fast.
Right when you get onto another platform or floor, immediately fire rapidly
and you should hopefully kill the robot just as it's about to fly into you.
Continue right, killing these robots and jumping across the ledges, until
the room is lit up again and you are in front of an ostritch robot. Head right
and blast the enemies until you reach a descending ladder. Climb down and head
through the door.

-----------------------
SUB-BOSS:Bubble Machine
-----------------------

This guy will hang out on the ceiling most of the time and fire four bubbles
on the floor. Take care not to run into the bubbles, as doing so will cause to
get trapped in them, leaving yourself open to attack. If you do happen to get
caught in one, rapidly hit the dash button until you are free. Killing this
guy is actually pretty easy. When the fight starts, quickly climb to the top
of the left wall and blast the robot with a Storm Tornado. Now, charge up a
Tornado and position yourself underneath him. When you're in position, unleash
the charged tornado on him to deal him a crap load of damage. One more regular
Storm Tornado should finish him off. Head through the door to the right once
he's defeated.

Equip the Fire Wave and climb over the walls to proceed forward. You will soon
run into these annoying biker enemies. They will fall quickly with the Fire
Wave. However, since the weapon has limited range, you will have to get close
to the enemies in order to guarantee a good shot at them. So approach them,
but don't get too close, and hold down the fire button to send them into
oblivion. Make your way through this short area by detroying any bikers in
your way. When you reach a staircase-shaped tunnel, jump down, but be careful
not to fall on the rotating turret enemies lining the ceiling and floor. When
you hit the bottom, head forward and blast the turrets in your path. Continue
right and climb up, destroying the enemies along the way. When you get back up
you will soon run into those annoying bikers again. Kill them off and head
right until you reach a descending ladder. Don't climb down just yet, because
there is a Heart Tank positioned on a ledge above the wall to your right.
Climb the right wall and you should see the Heart Tank on the platform in the
corner. Getting it is a lot harder than it looks. You will have to dash-jump
off the wall to the left and then quickly turn around and climb up onto the
ledge where the Heart Tank is. I usually get it after the first 3-5 tries, but
it might take some practice for beginners. After you get the Heart Tank,
climb down the ladders, killing the bikers along the way. When you reach the
bottom, head right and use the Storm Tornado to kill the large turtle robots
blocking your path. When you reach the end of the path, climb the ladders and
head right. You will be in a dark room with those stupid crescent-shaped
flying robots. Whenever you reach another platform or different elevation,
quickly fire off the X-Buster rapidly so that you can kill the robots right
before they connect with you. When you reach the end of this area, kill the
two walker robots and enter the door to reach the boss of this long level.

BOSS:Spark Mandrill
*******************

With the Shotgun Ice, this guy will fall in under one minute. Right when the
fight starts, fire a Shotgun Ice bullet at him and he will freeze, rendering
him immobile. When he breaks out of the ice, fire another Shotgun Ice at
Spark to freeze him once again. If he jumps away before you can freeze him
again, just go after him and fire another ice bullet. Repeat this process and
he will admit defeat quickly.

MAVERICK STAGE 5:Underground Gallery
####################################

Once the level begins, head right and jump onto the trolley. This will take
you down the long ramp here. When you reach the bottom, wait a few seconds.
Jump off the trolley when you reach the gap at the end. When you jump off,
head right and kill the bats and ostritch robots. Keep going forward until you
reach a drop. Don't jump straight down. Instead, cling to the left wall and
slide down gradually. When you're approaching the bottom, quickly climb back
up to avoid the spiked tank. Stay above until the tank exits the passage and
go inside where the tank came from to find another Sub-Tank. Now head out and
go right from here. Proceed forward through the tunnel, blasting the Mets
along the way. You can also avoid them if you want, which I have found easier.
If you keep heading right and get behind that spiked tank, just leave it
alone. Stay behind it and keep following it. It will soon fall into a spiked
pit at the end of the tunnel and die. Jump the spike pit and continue forward.
Climb over the wall here and jump down through the staircase-shaped tunnel.
Hold right while you fall, but take care not to touch the turrets attacthed
to the right wall. When you hit the bottom, continue right and kill the
spiked wheel enemies with the Fire Wave. When you get to a wall, climb up and
ride the trolley to the end of the tunnel. When you jump off, there should
be a huge drop below you. Have the Fire Wave ready and jump down to find
another spike tank like the one guarding the sub-tank before. Stay with him
and unload the Fire Wave into him until he is dead. You must do this quickly
or you will not be able to get the Heart Tank positioned on the ledge up
ahead. If the tank reaches the ledge before you destroy it, the ledge will
be partly destroyed and the Heart Tank will be out of reach. But if you used
the Fire Wave, he should fall quickly and you will be able to get the Heart
Tank. So grab the heart and continue forward through the tunnel. Jump the
spike pit ahead and climb up the next wall to find another trolley. Yay! Ride
this one down, but this time you will have do more than just sit on the
trolley enjoying the ride. When you get to the area with a lot of birds, fire
at them with the X-Buster (normal uncharged shots will kill them in one hit).
Your shots will be a bit slower here since you're moving at such a high speed.
Time to break out the Matrix action. Make a death-defying leap off the trolley
as it approaches the mountain at the end. You should land on a ledge with the
door to the boss.

BOSS:Armored Armadillo
**********************

The weapon of choice for this battle will be the Electric Spark. Have it fully
charged before you enter the fight. Don't release the charged spark right
when the battle starts. Instead, wait until Armadillo rolls himself at you.
Jump over him as he rolls towards you. When he stops, turn around and blast
him with the charged Electric Spark to deal him a good amount of damage. He
will also shed his armor, rendering him defenseless even when he is rolling.
Now just shoot him with regular E-Sparks for the rest of the fight. Try to
stay in the corners of the room to avoid his rolling attack, as he will be
doing that most of the time. You can hit him while he is rolling, but it
can sometimes be a little difficult. It's best to just shoot him when he stops
and fires at you. If you want to deal him some extra damage, charge up the
E-Spark while dodging his rolling attacks and unleash on him when he stops.
Repeat this process and he will fall easily.

MAVERICK STAGE 6:Underwater City
################################

Head right from the start and kill those grasshopper robots floating on the
water. Move forward a little more and blast those huge turtle robots with
fully charged X-Buster shots. Continue through the shore killing the turtle
and grasshopper robots until you reach the underwater area. Equip the E-Spark
and jump down the cliffs. When you hit the ocean floor, head forward a little
and you will be attacked by small seahorse enemies. When they pop out of the
groud, quickly blast the ones in your way with the E-Spark. This should kill
them with one shot. Continue forward, blasting the seahorses with the E-Spark
until you reach an open area. You will have to fight a large submarine enemy
here. Defeating him is very simple and it doesn't take a lot of shots to kill.
Hit him with a fully charged X-Buster shot at the start of the fight and then
keep rapdily shooting at him with normal uncharged buster shots. Every once
in a while, hit him with another fully charged shot. Take care to dodge the
swirving missiles he fires at you. Most of the time, they will fly right past
you and you shouldn't have to dodge them, though. Also, when he tries to suck
you in towards him, keep dashing in the opposite direction to avoid crashing
into him. Just keep firing with the X-Buster until he's finished. Once he's
dead, proceed to the right and shoot those blowfish with the X-buster. If they
manange to suck you in, just keep shooting to blow them open and free
yourself. Once you get through this area, you will have to fight another one
of those submarine enemies. Only this time, there are two spike pits on either
side of you, so be careful not to fall in when he sucks you in. Other than
that, just use the same strategy as before and he shouldn't give you any
trouble. Once he's finished, head right and you should see a blue tornado.
Jump into it and it will lift you up to a platform with a large energy capsule
on it. Take the capsule and jump off. Continue right from the tornado. Jump
across the spike pits and you will reach another tornado. Don't jump into this
one. Instead, go past it and jump into the next one. When you get to the top,
jump onto that ship floating on the surface and go up to the blue gem on it.
Blast it with the Storm Tornado to destroy the ship. Once it's destroyed, the
ship will sink to the bottom. Stay on the ship as it sinks and it will take
you to a hidden area. Get off the ship and head right through a small passage.

-------------------
SUB-BOSS:Sea Dragon
-------------------

After head right a little more, you will be attacked by a large sea serpent.
Immediately dash back to the left and cling to the wall. Stay on the left wall
until he turns around. Now equip the Storm Tornado and stay on the wall. When
he comes back towards you, drop off the wall as you fire a Tornado at his
head. If your timing was right, you should drop from the wall and the shot
will connect with his head, dealing a good amount of damage. Repeat this
process until he is dead.

After the sea dragon croaks, head right and you can enter a small passage to
find another Heart Tank. Grab it and head back out to where the ship sank.
From here, climb all the way up the right wall and head forward. You will soon
encounter yet another sea dragon. Use the Storm Tornado, as with the other
fight. But this time, stand on top of the left pillar and as long as you stay
there, he will not touch you. So stay there and just keep firing S-Tornadoes
at him when he comes back around. This guy should fall just as easily. Once
the remains of his corpse sink to the bottom of the ocean, climb over and
continue forward, killing the three blowfish ahead. Once there dead, the
boss gate is in plain site.

*******************
BOSS:Launch Octopus
*******************

The Rolling Shield will be your saving grace for this battle. Right when the
fight begins, jump the missiles he fires at you and blast him with the
R-Shield. This battle will consist mainly of dodging his attacks as much as
possible, then hitting him when you have a clean shot. You will have to be
quick and on your feet during this battle, if you hope to dodge most of
his attacks. He will fire missiles at you in groups of three which can be
jumped or dashed under. He will also fire heat-seeking fish blades. These
are a little harder to dodge. Try to lead them in one direction, then dash
away at the last minute. Finally, he will create a large vertical tornado
which will pull you towards him. Simply dash in the opposite direction to
avoid getting sucked in. Overall, this battle may take some practice for
beginners, so don't use up all your Rolling Shield energy unless you think
that you have a good shot at winning.

MAVERICK STAGE 7:Sky Tower
##########################

When you enter the level, equip the Storm Tornado and climb up the first three
ladders until you see a shield robot. Simply fire a torndao at him and it
will cut right through his shield, killing him with a single shot. Now jump
over to the ledge where the robot was standing and climb the ladder. Jump
over to the right ledge from here and destroy the wall slider robot on the
right wall. Climb the next ladder and fire a tornado at the shield robot on
the opposite ledge. Also make sure you kill the wall slider on the same wall.
Now jump over to the ledge and climb the ladder. Head right and be careful
as you enter this next area. When you first enter the room, you will notice
floating robots and re-appearing lasers throughout the room. The floating
robots here will only attack you if you trip one of the lasers in the room,
so take care not to touch any as you proceed through this area. When you reach
the other side of the room, climb the ladder and destroy the turtle robot
with a Storm Tornado. Now charge up the S-Tornado and climb the next ladder,
where you will find another turtle robot. Get on the small elevated ledge
right in front of him and unleash the charged tornado so it destroys him and
the other robot on the floor above you. Once they're done with, climb up the
next two ladders and kill the last turtle robot here. Now climb the left
ladder and get the Rolling Shield equipped. Move forward a little more and
you will notice a long platform. The large platform is an elevator. Before you
get onto the elevator, charge up an R-Shield and fire it to surround X with
a blue barrier. Now get onto the elevator. As the platform moves up, you
will constantly be attacked by small flying robots. But whenever they charge
into you, they will immediately die since you have the Rolling Shield
protecting you. Also take care to move out of the way of the spiked platforms
that will pass you as the elevator ascends. If you get caught underneath one,
you will automatically be killed, so use caution when moving around on the
platform. Once the elevator reaches the top, head right and get off the
platform. With the R-Shield still surrounding you, climb up the ladder to the
right. Keep heading up until you notice a ledge extending and retracting from
the left wall of the tower. You should also notice a turret on the end of the
ledge. However, the barrier from the R-Shield will destroy the turret on
contact, so just jump onto the ledge and head to the next ladder. Repeat this
process until you get to the top of this section. When you reach the top, you
will notice a Heart Tank positioned on a ledge to the right. If you really
want it now, head into the tower entrance on the left, but make sure the Heart
Tank is still within visual range. From here, charge up a Shotgun Ice to make
a penguin slide that you can ride on. Get onto the sled and ride it so that
it shoots out of the tower to where the ledge is. Just as the sled is passing
the ledge, dash-jump off and grab the tip of the ledge and climb up to grab
the Heart Tank. This may take a few tries, however, if you prefer to do it
the easy way, you will have to come back later. Regardless, head inside the
tower and destroy the turret on the oscillating platform with the Fire Wave.
Now get onto the platform and jump over to the right ledge. Jump across to
the ledge on the left and destroy the next turret. Jump onto its platform and
repeat this process until you reach the pinnacle of the tower. Now head
through the door to the right and get ready for a boss fight!

BOSS:Boomer Kuwanger
********************

The weapon of choice for this fight will be the Homing Torpedo, so have that
eqipped before the fight begins. It's also very helpful to charge up the
torpedo before-hand so that you can unleash it on Boomer at the start of
the fight to deal him some extra damage. After you hit him, head for a wall,
preferably the one that he's farthest from. This can be hard sometimes,
because he will teleport around the room rather frequently. But the key to
this fight is to stay as far away from him as possible, and simply fire
torpedoes at him from wherever you are. Since the torpedoes will seek him
out, you won't even have to do half the work. Just fire them at him where
he appears and they will automatically seek him out and deal him some heavy
damage. Stick to this strategy and he will be a pushover.

############################
MAVERICK STAGE 8:Forest Zone
############################

Start off the level by equipping the Storm Tornado and heading right. Make
your way through here by blasting through the stacks with those ax enemies
using the Storm Tornado. When you reach a cliff, jump down into the water and
hug the right wall as you slowly descend into a hidden area. You will
notice that the right wall can be destroyed using the Helmet Upgrade, so do
just that. Once you destroy the wall, stand on the very edge of the floor
there and using the buoyancy of the water to make a huge dash-jump over to the
ledge in the upper right corner where there is another Heart Tank. Once you
have it, dash jump back over to the lower ledge and climb back up the left
wall. When you get back up to the edge of the cliff, don't go through the
cave tunnel area just yet. Instead, make a dash-jump over to the ledge in the
upper right corner of the screen. Grab the ledge and climb up to reach yet
another secret area. Head forward a little and the entrance you came into
on the left will be blocked off by a wall of rocks. Then a mini-boss will
enter the area. He can be defeated very easily. Simply blast him with the
Storm Tornado. The tornado will go through and hit him multiple times for
extra damage, so just keep avoiding him and firing Storm Tornadoes. If he
extends his claw at you, just jump over it, shoot him, then jump over the claw
as it retracts. Use the walls to jump over him when he gets close. You can
also land a charged tornado on him while he is underneath you and you're on
a wall. But he should fall easily after enough fire. Once he's defeated, a
capsule rises from the ground to the right. Enter it to receive the Armor
Upgrade. This baby will reduce the total damage you take by half! Once you
have the armor, exit the area by dropping through the left opening. Now head
right from here into the cave tunnel area. You will notice, when you enter,
that there are square rocks scattered throughout the area. Just destroy them
with the X-Buster and move on. When you encounter a rock enemy that drops
from the ceiling, charge up the X-Buster to obliterate it with one shot. Do
the same for the rest of the stone robots as you continue right. Once you're
out of the cave tunnel, head forward and climb up a few walls. Kill the shield
enemy on one ledge and take the 1-Up behind him. Continue up the walls and
head down to the right. Keep going right and you will reach a robot ride armor
identical to the one in Chill Penguin's stage. Hop inside and head right into
the thick mud. You must keep jumping and moving forward to avoid getting stuck
in the mud here. Just keep dash-jumping through it, punching any airborne
enemies that get in your way. After you pass the energy capsule, you know
you're getting close to the boss door. Move forward a little more and you
will get out of the mud. Continue right from here and destroy the enemy ride
armors as you proceed forward. Once they're finished, the boss gate is dead
ahead.

********************
BOSS:Sting Chameleon
********************

Obviously, Sting's weakness against the Boomerang Cutter will make this an
easy fight, but you must know the strategy. First and foremost, charge up the
B-Cutter before you enter the fight. As soon as the battle starts, jump up
and release the charged B-Cutter. It will fire 4 huge boomerangs around the
room and should hit Sting for some good damage. Now stand in the center of the
room and fire a B-Cutter in whatever direction he is. The Boomerang should
curve up and hit him. Once he's hit, he will drop from the wall and jump to
the wall on the other side of the room. Now just turn around and quickly fire
another Boomerang at him. He will keep switching sides every time you hit him,
so just repeat this strategy until he's dead. I would recommend firing the
next Boomerang in the other direction ahead of time so that when Sting jumps
to the other side, the Boomerang will be curving and should connect with him
for a hit. Anyway, this fight shouldn't give you too much trouble if you
just stick to the strategy.

HADOUKEN FIREBALL
#################

This is a secret item located in Armored Armadillo's stage. In order to obtain
it, you must have all eight weapons, all 4 Sub-Tanks, all 8 Heart Tanks, and
all 4 Armor Upgrades. Once you have them all (you should at this point), go
to Armored Armadillo's stage and make sure you have at least 8 lives. You
can get extra lives by killing the large bat at the bottom of the first ramp
in the level, scrolling the bat off, and killing it repeatedly for extra lives
until you have 9. Once that's done, play through the level until you reach the
very last trolley ride where you make that huge jump out of the cave. Once
you get to the boss door, climb up the wall above it and you should see an
energy capsule on the ledge. Take it and then kill yourself by jumping into
the pit to the left of the boss door. Keep grabbing that energy capsule and
killing yourself in the pit and after about 6 or 7 tries, you will find an
Upgrade Capsule in place of the energy capsule on the ledge. Dr. Light will
give you the Hadouken Fireball, the most powerful weapon in the game. It can
kill any boss with a single shot. Even Sigma's first form! The fireball can
be used by quickly pressing down, down-forward, forward, then the fire button.
Be aware that you can only use the fireball when you have a full energy meter.
Well, not that you've gotten all the items, it's time to storm Sigma's
Fortress!

The Sigma Fortress stages are higher in difficulty than all the previous
levels that you have cleared. Throughout all 4 stages, you will have to
re-fight all eight of the Maverick bosses once again. I will assume that you
know their weaknesses and how to beat them, but I will post the same
strategies for the bosses listed above so that you won't have to look back.
Well, good luck and get ready to storm Sigma's Fortress!

################
FORTRESS STAGE 1
################

The first fortress level begins with X and Zero meeting up and talking. Zero
the heads off to take out Sigma's line of defense and X must now infiltrate
the fortress. Start out by equipping the Chameleon Sting and charging it up.
Head forward a little until you see a huge turtle robot. Get close to it and
release the C-Sting. This will may X invincible for a limited amount of time,
so just dash through all the enemies here as quickly as possible. Stop when
you reach a cliff with platforms in the air. Once you reach the flying
platforms, switch to the Rolling Shield, charge it up, and release to surround
X with the barrier. Jump onto the first platforms when it comes to you and
continue jumping to the next one to reach the top. The R-Shield barrier will
prevent those flying enemies from knocking you off the platforms on the way
up. Once you reach the top and get inside the fortress, switch to the Fire
Wave and kill the turret enemies. Kill off the rest of the enemies along the
way with the Fire wave until you reach a ladder. Climb up these next few
ladders and kill the robot walkers on the way up. When you reach the top, you
will notice a boss door. Vile will appear and then Zero will teleport in,
telling X to leave Vile to him. Vile then heads through the boss door and Zero
dashes through after him. Follow them and head through the gate. Once you get
inside, you will hear shots and fighting from the other side. Climb the wall
here and head through the next door. Move forward and you will see that Vile
had secretly stashed his Ride Armor in the room, and was able to defeat Zero.
You will notice Zero trapped in the cage behind Vile. After the dialogue, you
will have to fight Vile and, just like in the intro stage, you will have to
lose to him again, because you can't damage him. Once he traps you in the
electric field again, he will place you on the other side of the room. Zero
will then break out of the cage and latch himself onto Vile. Zero then self
destructs in order to destroy Vile's Ride Armor, giving X a chance to defeat
him. After some more dialogue, X will break out of the eletric field and
his energy meter will be refilled to full. Shocked, Vile still believes he
can defeat X, and challenges you to a fight.

*********
BOSS:Vile
*********

Finally, after losing to Vile twice, you have the opportunity to silence the
bastard for good and get your ultimate revenge! Vile has two main weaknesses.
The Homing Torpedo and the Rolling Shield. The Homing Torpedo is easier to hit
with, since it will seek him out, but the Rolling Shield deals him more
damage. Here's my suggestion. If you think your skills are intact and you have
good aim, use the R-Shield against him. But if you aren't as skilled, use the
Homing Torpedo to seek him out so that you can concentrate more on dodging his
attacks. He moves very quickly and he jumps around a lot. So make sure you
take care to dodge most of his attacks. If he hits you with the electric ball,
you will be immobilized temporarily, and he will drop bombs on you. So try to
avoid the electric attack altogether. With the R-Shield, it's best to fire at
him when he is on the ground , and you must do this quickly since he moves
around quite often. Stick to those weapons and you should be fine.

After the fight, Vile will implode and you won't see him again until Mega Man
X3, but you can worry about that later. Anyways, go over to Zero and talk to
him. He self-destructed in order to help X, so Zero's body will dissipate and
he will die here. An interesting thing is that if you did not get the X-Buster
upgrade from Dr. Light in Flame Mammoth's stage, Zero will give it to you
here, but you should have it already, so just head right over the wall. When
you see the shield robot, equip the Chameleon Sting and charge it up. Dash
across these robots over to the ladder on the other side. Climb up and kill
the shield robot on the above ledge by firing 3 Homing Torpedos at him from
underneath. Once he's dead, dash-jump off the left wall onto the ledge he
was standing on. Now charge up yet another Chameleon Sting and quickly make
your way up the walls. Dash-jump off the wall to get to the ledge on the
opposite side. Repeat this until you get to a ladder  at the top. Climb it
and head through the door on the right.

********************

Now head through the door that opens after you defeat him and charge up the
C-Sting once again. Dash past the Mets and laser detectors, etc. until you
come to the boss gate. Through here will be the real boss of the first
fortress stage. Be prepared for one hell of a fight!

***********************
FORTRESS BOSS:Bo-Spider
***********************

For the first fortress boss, this guy is friggin' tough. And he will tear you
a new ass if you're not careful, so get ready! The weapon of choice here
will be the Shotgun Ice. Fully charged X-Buster shots work just as well here,
too. The hardest thing about this fight is that the Bo-Spider does not have a
set attack pattern. He climbs down that web in whatever direction he chooses,
and this is usually random, unless he has nowhere else to go. Therefore, I
cannot give you a very accurate strategy for defeating him. I will just say
that you should study the webs very carefully and move quickly to avoid him
when he is approaching the ground. Fire a S-Ice at him when he touches the
ground, and destroy the smaller spiders he fires by just firing an ice bullet
off the wall and having the smaller one bounce off and kill them. This fight
may take some time and retries. If you do end up using more than one Sub-Tank,
be sure to backtrack after the level to refill them. But this fight shouldn't
give you too much trouble if you are able to hit him every time he comes down.

################
FORTRESS STAGE 2
################

The music for this stage is one of my all-time favorites. Head right and
kill the ostritch robots. You will soon notice several platforms moving in
a circular pattern. Hop onto the first one and kill the bats that attack
you using the Homing Torpedos. Jump onto the next platform and so forth until
you get off at the other side. Jump off here and head forward. Kill the
enemies and climb up the wall. Destroy the ostritch robot at the top and head
through the door to the right.

******************
BOSS:Chill Penguin
******************

I will be posting a different strategy for Chill Penguin here because now you
can use his weakness, the Fire Wave, against him instead of the X-Buster
you used the first time through. Since the F-Wave has limited range, you
need to get close to Chill in order to deal the necessary damage. Just
move in when ceases fire briefly. Then quickly fire a brief wave of flame and
dash away from him. This fight shouldn't give you any problems because he
is such an easy boss to begin with. Once he's finished, head through the door
on the right.

Head right a little and kill off these enemies. Proceed forward and hop into
the Ride Armor. Yay! Continue forward, taking out the other Ride Armors, until
you reach a ladder on the other side. Get out of the Armor and climb the
ladder. Once you're up, equip and charge up the Rolling Shield to
protect you from the turret shots as you climb up these next few ladders. It
doesn't matter which side you take, although I usually take the right side,
since it's closer to where you get off. Head forward some more and you
will be outside. Jump the gap and head right some more.

****************
BOSS:Storm Eagle
****************

This time around, you can use the Chameleon Sting on him. Right when the fight
starts, dash forward through his gusts of wind and blast him with the C-Sting.
You should be able to hit him even if he goes airborn. Just stand back and
fire the C-Sting and it should split into 3 shots, hitting him in the air.
If he starts to dive bomb you, just dodge it and quickly turn around to get
some extra shots in their if you can. Again, this fight shouldn't give you
any real trouble. Make sure you save a good amount of the C-Sting, though. You
will need it again later on in the level.

Head forward and jump into the next area. Climb the ladder and kill the shield
robots above. Stand under them and fire H-Torpedos to take them out safely.
Make your way up the walls and head through the door at the top.

***************************
FORTRESS BOSS:Rangda Bangda
***************************

The weapon to use here will be the Chameleon Sting. This is why I told you
to save some from the previous re-match with Storm Eagle. Once the fight
begins, quickly fire a C-Sting at the eye that he opens. Keep hitting it as
much as you can before is goes back in his socket. Take care to dodge the eyes
as they fly towards you. Also beware of the shots some of them fire off. Keep
hitting and dodging the eyes until the walls close in. Once they do, make sure
you immediately start climbing or hanging onto the left wall, so as not to
fall into the lethal spikes below. Stay on the wall and dodge his nose as he
launches it back and forth at you. Don't take out the nose yet until you've
successfully detsroyed both of his eyes. After dodging the nose long enough,
the walls will retract and he will begin attacking with his eyes again. Do the
same as before; dodge and fire at the eyes with the C-Sting. If the walls
close in again before you take out all the eyes, just dodge the nose once
again and kill the eyes once they retract. Once the eyes are destroyed, the
walls will extend again. This time, stay on a wall, and wait until the nose
is within shooting range. Once it is, blast it with the C-Sting. Dodge it when
it comes in your direction, and fire once its in front of you again. Repeat
this process until RB is no more.

################
FORTRESS STAGE 3
################

When the level begins, climb up the walls and kill the enemies at the top. You
should see a boss door right in front of you when you reach the top.

**********************

Once you're through with him, head through the door on the opposite side.
Climb up this right wall and blast the turtle robots at the top. You should
come to another boss door once the turtles are out of your way.

Head through the next door here once Sting is destroyed. Head down a little
and you should see one of those pick axe-throwing enemies trapped behind a
few pipes, along with some energy capsules. Hang onto the left wall and shoot
through the pipes with the X-Buster to kill him. Now drop down and quickly
shoot the motorcycle enemy that charges at you. Now you can use the Boomerang
Cutter to snag those power-ups inside the pipes. Once you're done, head
through the boss gate in the bottom-right corner of the room.

*******************
BOSS:Spark Mandrill
*******************

With the Shotgun Ice, this guy will fall in under one minute. Right when the
fight starts, fire a Shotgun Ice bullet at him and he will freeze, rendering
him immobile. When he breaks out of the ice, fire another Shotgun Ice at
Spark to freeze him once again. If he jumps away before you can freeze him
again, just go after him and fire another ice bullet. Repeat this process and
he will admit defeat quickly.

Now head through the next opening and head down through the pipes until you
reach an area flooded with water. When you first drop down into the water,
blast the blow-fish with the X-Buster and head to the right through the water.
Continue right, killing the blowfish enemies, until you reach a boss door.
Don't go through it just yet. Instead, jump up and grab the energy capsule on
the pipe right above the boss gate. Now go back down and head through.

Now head through the door at right and climb up the wall until you're out of
the water. Move forward until you see the laser detector enemies and some
turret cannons attacthed to the floor and ceiling. Charge up the Chameleon
Sting and dash through all thse enemies to the other side of the room, where
you will come to yet another boss door.

Well, now you can breathe a little easier, since you're done re-fighting all
eight of the Maverick Bosses. But right after Flame Mammoth falls, you will
find one more boss door if you keep going right.

************************
FORTRESS BOSS:D-Rex Tank
************************

Yes, all of these bosses are in a single fortress stage! The weapon to use
here will be the Boomerang Cutter. You have to hit the top half of the tank,
his head, to damage him. The B-Cutter is what inflicts the most damage, so
shoot his head with it. Whenever he charges at you, quickly dash-jump through
both halves of him so that he doesn't close on you. Keep doing this until
he moves to the right side of the room and begins to charge up a large plasma
ball. You can get a few extra hits on him while he's charging up, but make
sure that you quickly climb the left wall to dodge the plasma ball when he
fires it at you. He may fire a few more, if he does, just dodge them. Keep
firing the B-Cutter at him and jumping through him until he's done for good.
This fight shouldn't give you too much trouble. Now get ready for Sigma!

####################
FINAL FORTRESS STAGE
####################

You've made it this far. Now it's time for the final battle against Sigma!
Make sure you have full Sub-Tanks before you head off to fight him. You can
easily refill your Sub-Tanks at the beginning of the stage by charging up the
Rolling Shield and using it to kill the worms that come out of the holes in
the wall as you climb up. This shouldn't take long at all. Once you've got
full Sub-Tanks, climb all the way to the top and get ready for a fight!
Sigma will appear alongside his dog, Velguader. Sigma will say that he doesn't
want to deny his pet a good fight, so he sends his dog after you. What a wuss!

**************
BOSS:Velguader
**************

You can finish this guy off with one shot, using the Hadouken Fireball
obtained from Dr. Light earlier. Right when the fight starts, perform the
button combination necessary (down, down-forward, forward) and hit the fire
button. Velguader should head for the left wall when the fight starts, jumping
over your head. He will then jump back right in front of you and the Fireball
should connect for a one hit kill. Of course, if you get hit, you won't be
able to fire it, so here's what to do. Equip the Shotgun Ice and just blast
away at him whenever you get the chance. Don't make a big deal out of dodging
all his attacks, as they will not do any significant damage. Just keep firing
the S-Ice at him until he dies. Don't worry if you took a few hits, because I
have a strategy for Sigma's first form that enables you to beat him without
taking a single hit!

*****************
BOSS:Sigma Form 1
*****************

Wow, 2 boss battles in a row! Harsh... If you still have full health from the
previous fight against Velguader, you can chuck a Fireball at Sigma for a
quick, one-hit KO! But if not, use the following strategy and he shouldn't
touch you. Right when the fight begins, Sigma will launch himself at you,
making a wide slash with his Beam Saber. Immediately make for the left wall
and climb all the way up. Otherwise, Sigma's beam saber will deal you massive
damage. Stay in the top left corner and equip the Electric Spark. Wait until
Sigma jumps off the walls and is at about your height. Right before he makes
for the left wall, drop down from the wall and fire an E-Spark at him. This
should take away 2 units of his energy meter. You can also hit him with a
charged E-Spark, which will hit him for 3 units. Once you hit the ground,
Sigma will start jumping down the walls toward you. When he gets low enough,
fire another E-Spark at him as you head up the left wall once again. There,
just wait until he starts heading back up and just drop down and hit him with
another E-Spark. Continue with this process until Sigma is wiped out. You
should still have all 4 Sub-Tanks at full capacity. Now get ready for a real
fight!

**************************
FINAL BOSS:Velguader Sigma
**************************

Make that 3 bosses in a row! If you die now, you'll be quite pissed, as you
will have to re-fight Velguader and Sigma's first form. This is it. The final
face-off with Sigma. Now since this is indeed the final battle of the game,
you know that it's not going to be a walk in the park. V-Sigma will breathe
heavy damaging waves of fire at you, blast you with plasma sparks at
incredible speeds, and try to strike with lightning. All of which will inflict
massive damage to you, so you'll have to try your hardest to avoid them. There
are only 2 weapons that can damage Velguader Sigma. The Rolling Shield
(recommended) or fully charged X-Buster shots. I will write the strategy as if
you're using the R-Shield. You will have to fire at Sigma's head (obviously).
The only way you can do this is either waiting until his claws come down,
enabling you to jump on them and shoot his head, or just climbing a wall and
jumping onto one of the claws. Once you're on the claws, you will need to stay
on the very edge of it, so that the lightning Sigma fires from the claws will
not be able to reach you. While you're standing on one of the claws, fire the
R-Shield at V-Sigma's head. This should damage him for 2 units of his energy
meter. If you fall off his claw, he will fire either a bunch of plasma sparks
at you, or a large wave of fire. To dodge the fire wave, just head up the wall
that he his directing the wave towards and it should dissipate right
underneath you. Dodging the plasma sparks, however, requires quite a bit of
skill. You have to dash right through them as he's firing them. This means
you're timing has to be near perfect or else you will get hit. But once you
have the chance again, head for one of his claws and begin to fire more
R-Shields at him. Don't worry if you have to use up all of your Sub-Tanks, as
this is the last battle. Repeat this procedure to defeat Velguader Sigma and
win the game!

Once Sigma's final form breaks down, X will teleport out and stand on a cliff
as he watches Sigma's Fortress implode. Then, the following words will
scroll up the screen.

"The war has ended for now and peace has been restored. But those who
sacrificed themselves for the victory will never return. Exhausted, X gazes
out into the sea and wonders why he chose to fight. Was there another way?
Standing on the cliff, the answers seem to escape him. He only knows that he
will fight the mavericks again before he finds his answer. How long will he
keep on fighting? How long will his pain last? Maybe only the X-Buster on his
hand knows for sure....."

==============================================================================
Congratulations! You've successfully completed Mega Man X!

SECTION 5:Item Locations
++++++++++++++++++++++++

Armor Upgrade Capsules
----------------------

Dash Upgrade: In Chill Penguin stage, you can't miss it. I mean that quite
             literally.

Helmet Upgrade: In Storm Eagle's stage, slide down the right side of the small
tower and dash-jump off the ledge at the bottom onto the ledge
in the top right corner of the screen. Destroy the large
batteries and head through to get to the capsule.

X-Buster Upgrade: There are actually 2 different ways to get this one. The
first method is to head to Flame Mammoth's stage. At the
beginning of the stage, when you first get on the green
walkway, dash-jump to the left and destroy the blocks in the
top left corner with the Helmet Upgrade to reach the
capsule. The other way is to defeat Vile. Zero gives you the
                 X-Buster Upgrade before he dies.

Armor Upgrade: In Sting Chameleon's stage. Right before you enter the cave,
dash-jump off the cliff and climb onto the ledge in the top
right corner and head forward. Defeat the sub-boss and the
Upgrade Capsule will appear after the fight.

Sub-Tanks
---------

Storm Eagle's Stage: Climb up into the tower with the blue glass windows.
Shoot the front window open and detsroy the robot inside.
The Sub-Tank is right in the middle of the tower.

Flame Mammoth's Stage: Head right along the green walkway until you reach a
dead end. Climb up the wall here and jump off from the
top onto the high ledge of the walkway to the left. Now
continue left until you reach the end. Then make a big
dash-jump to the left and grab the wall you land on.
Now just destroy the blocks in the wall using the
Helmet Upgrade and the Sub-Tank is right behind it.

Spark Mandrill's Stage: At the very beginning of the stage. Go down the first
descending ladder and head all the way to the right,
where you can see the Sub-Tank behind a wall. Jump up
and fire a Bommerang Cutter so that it cuvres downward
and snatches the Sub-Tank for you.

Armored Armadillo's Stage: Where the first large ground tank is, slowly slide
down the left wall and wait for the tank to exit.
Now go inside where the tank was and grab the
                          Sub-Tank behind it.

Heart Tanks
-----------

Chill Penguin's Stage: Right after you get out of the Robot Ride Armor, climb
up the wall and dash-jump to the left onto a ledge.
Head left and destroy all the igloos with the Fire Wave
and the Heart Tank will be inside one of them.

Storm Eagle's Stage: At the very beginning of the stage, ride the platforms to
the very top and make a BIG dash-jump to the left. You
should land on a ledge with the Heart Tank.

Flame Mammoth's Stage: You can only get this if you've defeated Chill Penguin
first. Get on the long green walkway shortly after the
beginning of the level and take it to the right until
you see the Heart Tank underneath the walkway. You can
go under the walkway and get it only if you've beaten
Chill Penguin at this point in the game.

Spark Mandrill's Stage: Towards the end of the stage. When you see a floor
with a descending ladder, climb the wall to the right
and you'll see the Heart Tank positioned on a small
ledge in the corner of the screen. You will need to
dash-jump off the wall and quickly turn yourself
around and grab the ledge to reach the Heart Tank.

Armored Armadillo's Stage: At the end of the stage. When you encounter the
second large ground tank, quickly destroy it using
the Fire Wave before it reachs the ledge where the
Heart Tank is. If you detsroy the tank befores it
gets to the ledge, the Heart Tank is yours for
                          the taking.

Launch Octopus's Stage: After you destroy both of the submarine mini-bosses,
take the third tornado and jump onto the ship floating
along the surface of the water. Destroy the eye with
the Storm Tornado and stay on the ship as it falls and
brings you to a hidden area. Move forward and defeat
the Sea Dragon mini-boss. Once he's dead, head right
through the small opening to get the Heart Tank.

Boomer Kuwanger's Stage: At the end of the level. When you get to the top of
the right wall of the tower, you will see the Heart
Tank positioned on the ledge in the top right corner
of the screen. Stand back and fire a Boomerang Cutter
and it should curve around, grabbing the Heart Tank.

Sting Chameleon's Stage: Towards the beginning of the stage. Before you enter
the cave, drop down into the pit right before the
entrance to the cave. Hold the right wall as you fall
down the pit. Destroy the right wall with the Helmet
Upgrade. Now use the buoyancy of the water to make a
dash-jump over to the Heart Tank.

Hadouken Fireball
-----------------
