Welcome to my first FAQ! And what a game to start on! In my opinion, the
best Baseball Sim on the market yet! I decided to write this FAQ because there
has not been a High Heat FAQ yet, and on the Boards, there seems to be some
questions that should be tended to. Such as player updates. Which happens to
not be done as of now...

2. Game Controls
Here is what each button will be written as throughout the FAQ;
X Button= X
Square Button= S
Circle Button= O

a. Pitching
Pitch Selection-
Select Pitch Type= X,S,O,T,R1,R2
Align Infield= Directional Button OR Left analog stick, and L1
(Hold Direction First)
Align Outfield= Same as above, except use L2 instead of L1
Pitch Legend On/Off= Select
Move Pitcher on Mound= Same as Align Infield, except use R2 instead of L1
(Tip: Make sure you Hold Direction First, or you will
end up choosing your pitchers 6th pitch!)
Pitch Delivery-
Pitch a Strike= X and Direction Buttons OR Left analog stick
(Directional and Analog are for Location of Strike)
Pitch a Ball= O and Direction Buttons OR Left analog stick
(Directional and Analog are for Location of Ball)
Brushback pitch= R1 and X

Guess= L2 (Hold down before the other's Pitch Selection

3. Game Modes
Exhibition- Play a single game using any of the 30 regular MLB or two
All-Star teams.
Career Modes-
Single Season Mode- Win the Series now!
Franchise- Play multiple seasons with a budget.
Career Mode- Play multiple seasons without worrying about the budget.
Two on Two Showdown- Pitcher vs. Batter. Thats it. One inning of hardcore,
man to man baseball.
Playoffs- Dont worry about your bad team you like. Jump miraculously into
the Playoffs.
Home Run Derby- Its all about the long ball, baby!
All-Star Game- A collection of the todays finest going head to head.
Batting Practice- Exactly what it says.

II. Roster Stuff
This section deals with the default rosters, roster updates, how to make the
current rosters, and top teams and players. Easily the hardest section to make
in the FAQ.
*NOTE*- OvO means Overall Offense, which is comprised of only Hit average,
Power, and Running, not Eye, while OvD(Overall Defense)is comprised of Arm,
Fld, Run, while OvA is comprised of the average of the two overalls. Eye is not
used because you will be controling when your players swing the bat. For
Pitchers, OvP is the number from Arm, Con, and Stf, not End, because End does
not necesarily show how good a pitcher is, like in the case of a closer. These
4 statistics are made up entirely by me to give you a better idea of how a
player is on the whole.*

III. Strategies
1. Pitching
Any pitching strategies that I have found, along with any sent to me(Look at
Contact Info so you can send some), will be placed here.
a. Pitches
Here are the pitches in the game, their descriptions, when to use them,
and some examples of who uses them-
*Note-Descriptions are given from a righty pitcher to righty batter viewpoint.
Fastball- The high heat. The fastest pitch you have in your arsenal. Great to
use if you have pitchers with high ARM, like Pedro, or new minor leaguers with
more ARM. Use in any location, high and tight, low and away, etc.
2 Seam Fastball- Not quite as fast as the Fastball, but has great downward
movement. Sometimes breaks to the right or left but still mostly down. Use it
as a strikeout pitch with a pitcher that doesnt have any other strikeout
pitches, but has high ARM. A lot of pitchers have this.
Rising Fastball- Again not as fast as the Fastball, but this one breaks up. Use
it in the upper ranges of the strike zone. Can still work in the the lower
parts. Mariano Rivera is one that comes to mind with this pitch.
Tailing Fastball- Not as fast as the Fastball, but this breaks in on a righty
batter. Great to use down and away on leftys, and down and in on rightys.
Sometimes can get tough to throw for strikes. Can be a strikeout pitch if used
effectively.
Cutter- Not as fast as the Fastball, but this breaks away on an almost
horizontal plane from a righty batter.Good to use in on the hands of batters.
Andy Pettite uses this.
Slider- Nasty, nasty pitch. Has a sharp break down and away from a righty.
Hard to throw in the zone, so use this for a great strikeout pitch in high
counts like 0-2,1-2,2-2. Lots of pitchers have this.
Power Slider- Like the slider, except faster, but with less break. More
accurate than the slider.
Sweep Slider- The favorite of sidearm pitchers, this pitch sweeps with an
amazing horizontal/slighty downward break.
Bullpen Strategies-
Not so many things here. Just have pitchers that work well to your style of
play. Don't keep using the same relief pitchers every game. Have a good closer.
During a game, start warming up a pitcher about an inning before you think you
will need him. So if you are in the 6th, and you think you will want to change
him in the beginning of the 7th, put in a pitcher about one out into the 6th.
Then, at the beginning of the next half inning, put another pitcher in just
in case your half inning goes long and your pitcher gets tired.

IV. FAQs
Q?- Is there any good minor leaguers I can pick up to improve my team?
A!- No one can help you! The minor leagues are completely random every time
you turn on your PS2.
Q?- How do you run over the catcher?
A!- As far as I know, you can't.
Q?- How can I charge the pitchers mound?
A!- If you are playing on the PS2, you can't. I think the X-Box you can.
Q?- What is the purpose for the "Trip To The Mound"?
A!- I have found that using this when your pitcher can't seem to find the
zone helps him a little bit. Don't use it more than once an inning though.
Your pitcher will have to come out after the second trip.
