1.00 |                              PREFACE
###############################################################################

Every bit of this guide is to educate you on the game. Nothing more, nothing
less. Writing the walkthrough was especially tough for a game like Freedom
Fighters. The way the levels are laid out made it downright difficult to
organize things how a typical walkthrough would be. Nonetheless, I did it and
what's there is there. I hope that it helps in *some* way.

In Freedom Fighters you play the role of Christopher Stone; plumber turned
freedom fighter. It takes place in a fictional era in which the Soviet Union
don't exactly lose the Cold War. The Soviets invade New York via the Harbor
with their subs and set foot on land in which they intend to claim. They place
their flags all around the city... but Chris isn't going to have it. Not in
his neighborhood. When Chris' brother is kidnapped, surrending is no longer on
the table and you must help Chris do whatever it takes to stop the Soviets
and get your brother back. The question is, are you up to the task?

Basic Movement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Climbing: Walk up to a ledge and press the jump button and Chris will climb up.
Commands: Give commands by using any of the face buttons. Take note the
difference between *tapping* and *holding the command buttons.
Quick-Saving: To save your games you will need to access a sewer within the
city. Approach a manhole in the street then press and hold the use/action
button. When the gauge is full the manhole will open and the game will save.
Note that quick-saving is NOT permanent and will be gone whenever you end your
level's session.
Pointing Out Locations: To point out spots you want your squad to go to, go in
to aim mode and then press or hold the scout/attack buttom. Your fighter(s)
will run to this area.
Stealth: Believe it or not, this game does have a measurable amount of stealth
to it. When it the later levels it's useful to stay crouched while moving
about the level. This will aid in you going unoticed by the enemy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.20 | Tips & Strategies
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Machine/Tripod Guns
Let one of your recruits man the machine games because they are very accurate
and can spot the soldiers easier than the human eye can.
Backtracking to Save
In huge levels with maholes too few and far in between, backtrack to the
beginning of the level to save your game. This prevents you from worrying about
how much further you think a manhole may be.
Look at the Vehicles
Certain vehicles in the game have certain item pickup around them. For example
the cop cars often have guns & ammo around them and the ambulance have medic
kits near them.
Go Back for Recruits
Sometimes when you're low on medic kits it's best to go back and get some fresh
recuits if possible. This saves you from having to use one on them.
Talk to The Kid
The Kid appears is standing in certain points in a few levels. Talk to him for
a clue on what you might have to do next.
Vehicle Cover
If you plan on taking cover behind a vehicle make sure you blow it up by
shooting it *before* going to it. If you don't, the enemy will shoot it,
damaging you.
Rebel Base
The Rebel Base has weapons & pickups on the other side of your FFs. Every time
you come here run around and pick up some stuff.
Conserving Ammo
Even if you didn't run out of ammo you can still attack an enemy with your
weapon. Sneak up behind them and tap R2.
When out of Ammo
When you run out of ammo try to sneak up on a soldier and hit them with your
weapon several times. Then take their ammo.
Keeping Your Recruits Safe
Don't always have them follow you. Their AI isn't the greatest in the world.
It's good but not perfect. Tell them to wait (hold circle) in a safe spot while
you go out and take care of the enemy.
Explosive Objects
Always shoot the explosive objects nearby enemies. If possible, let a few come
near a vehicle or barrel and then blow it up for maximum carnage.
Head Shots Hurt
I don't need to tell you this, but always go for head shots. Especially when
you can do them easily like with the sniper rifle. This saves ammo (if you're
good) and takes care of the enemy quickly.
Use The Binoculars
The binoculars are much better than the sniper for scoping as they have a
higher magnification. It's useful to find targets for distant snipes,
particularly on "Distant Revenge" level. Also, they're very good for
giving orders, say for example, if you have an officer's overview spot and
wish to send FF's into several different positions.
2.30 | Heads Up Display (HUD)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The HUD in any game is all status indicators that are on your screen. For
example, ammo, health, etc. The numbers in the box on the left are where each
thing is at relative to your television screen. The key on the right is a
description that corresponds with the numbers in the box.
###############################################################################
3.00 |                            WALKTHROUGH
###############################################################################
**NOTE 1** This walkthrough was made under the "Freedom Fighter: You Got What
          It Takes?" difficulty. Also, it was written for the PS2 version of
          the game. Just ignore the parts in the beginning where I sometimes
          will say which button to push. I see no reason why this guide
          would not get you through the PC, Xbox, or GameCube versions.
**NOTE 2** The proper name of your current chapter can be found at the load
          game screen.
**NOTE 3** Auto-save is a save at the end of a level. Quick-save is a save
          within a level, in a manhole. It is recommended that you turn
          auto-save on!
**NOTE 4** An "area", as I refer to them, ends when a flag is raised on any
          level. This begins a new area. It's a simple way of breaking the
          walkthrough down and keeping it organized and easy to follow.
**NOTE 5** Finally, the charisma points that you gain are expressed in
          parenthesis after the action. For example: "(+25)" means you gained
          25 charisma points.
3.10                     Soviet Domination, Summer 2003
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~~~~~~~
Area 1
~~~~~~~~
:: Invasion ::
Immediately run into the doorway on your right to avoid the barrage of
bullets from the helicopter outside of the apartment. Turn around and go
through the doorway right of the kitchen and out to the hallway of this
building. Out here are some civilians lined against the wall under force of
the single Soviet guard. Run up behind him and hit him with your pipe wrench.
When he turns around keep hitting him some more until he drops.
The civilian, Mr. Jones, whom the guard was checking out, will praise you for
your arrival. Follow him down the hall to the left. When he opens the door he
gives you a taste of what's to come in a few moments. Climb up to the ledge by
jumping on the duct, pick up the gun, and then climb onto the higher rooftop.
Up here you'll face a few soldiers. Kill them and the helicopter will take off
with your friend as hostage. Go down the fire escape to your right as soon as
Mr. Jones opens the gate.
When you see the soldiers standing by the orange barrels, go into aim mode.
Point at any of the barrels and shoot. They and explode. If there are any
remaining guards be sure to shoot them. When the Mr. Jones runs through the
gate and down further follow him. When you get to the small slanted roof at
the bottom a hole is blown into it and you're forced to take damage Walk over
to the ambulance, pick up the medic kit and use it.
Once used, it's time to go into the streets. Run out through the debris and
smoke. Quickly run down to your left, making a right at the big pile of ruble.
Continue down and look for the guy sitting down on the ground with an icon over
his head. Press X to heal him (+25) and he becomes a recruit. Follow him and
Mr. Jones up the steps and into the hallway. Grab the molotovs that are by the
door on the ground. Equip them and Bagztog will open the door up. Turn outside
and shoot the guy to your left. Bagztog encourages you to "throw those babies".
Light him up if you feel the urge. Drop down then pick up the ammo on the
ground by the dumpsters.
Go around to the left where soldiers encounter you. Kill them and walk to the
right. Turn the corner near the vehicles and go over to the manhole. Open it
up. (+25) Go to the police station.
:: Police Station ::
Run down the alleyway then cut out to the left. Turn right at the intersection
where the stoplights are blinking yellow. Run over to the flipped cars to where
the police are. Talk to the cop on the left. He explains that they are pinned
down and they need you to blow up the gas stations. Pick up the C4s that are on
the ground near head. Now go back to the manhole to select and go to the next
location. Go to the post office.
:: Post Office ::
Turn left and talk to the youth with the can of spray paint. He also hints at
blowing up the gas station. Continue down this alleyway. Turn left. Straight
ahead of you are two soldiers. Take cover behind the beams then quickly dash
behind the dumpster against the left wall. Pop as soon as they do and cap them.
Once they're dead, take their automatics, then go further down into the gas
station to the right. Just before the turn is a manhole in case you wan to
save.
Walk into the gas station them look for the two big tanks against the back
wall. Plant the C4 in front of any of the two them, then take cover when the
red light comes on. When the tankers blow up (+25) head back to the manhole by
the brick wall as you exit the gas station area. Go back to the police station.
:: Police Station ::
With the gas station blown and the snipers dead, the police are no longer
taking fire from them. Make your way over to them once more. Talk to the single
cop then head for the subway that's on the other side of the police cars. As
you walk down into this subway tunnel immediately take cover behind a pillar.
Peak out and kill two guards at a time. Get their weapons and repeat with the
next two. Do this in a zigzag pattern until you get to the other end and all
soldiers are dead.
At the end of this tunnel, walk up the steps and talk to the policeman. Take
heed to what he says. Duck down and pass the cars up. Go left of the stone
divider. Go into the door on your left and into a parking garage. If you were
spotted when outside, a guard will come in from behind you. Take care of him
and set your focus on the parking garage again. Run over to the right and hide
behind the pillar with the yellow paint at the bottom of it. When the soldiers
walking towards you on your right are close, spring out and shoot them up. Go
north to the back of the ambulance and grab the medic kit. If you want to, kill
the two soldiers over to your left. Either way, go up the steps on the right
side and through the door.
As you come through there's wooden shelves to your left and stairs to your
right. Quickly run behind the shelves to the left and snatch the ammo back
here. Throw a cocktail up the steps if you're feeling lucky. This should take
one or two down if thrown properly. Whenever a solider comes in front of a
green crate at the top of the steps, stand up and shoot him. Duck back down. Do
this till they're all dead. When you get up the steps, turn around and take
either flight of steps up. Up here are two more guards looking through the
half-circle design in the wall. Take care of them. In the narrow hallway next
to them is some pickups you can use. You must first kill the two soldiers in
here then kill the third one that rushes in from behind. Turn back out and on
the opposite side of the half-circles is another hallway exactly like the
previous one. Grab the picks and kill the soldier(s).
Now go to either end of the long hallway and up the stairwell. If you happen to
go up the one that is blocked off by green crates, turn around and go to the
other side and up this stairwell. Take it up and to the next floor. Clear out
this hallway, killing anyone that springs out from the right. At the other end
is a medic kit on the crate. Go into the office area to the right. In one room
is a girl who is tied up. Rescue her (+25) and head out the window onto the
ledge. Get to the peak of the roof, walk up the base of the flag pole, and the
press X to raise it (+25). Go to the post office.
~~~~~~~~
Area 2
~~~~~~~~
:: Post Office ::
Follow Isabella down the alley. She introduces you to the Freedom Fighter
at the door. When she goes in follow her upstairs. She debriefs you on the
situation of the area below outside. If you have enough charisma tell both
recruits to follow you (X button when arrow is over their head). Head out this
room and into the hallway again. Make another right and down the stairwell.
When you get to the bottom collect the ammo and medic kits. Step outside.
First, aim at the barrel in front of the guy ahead of you. He blows up. Next,
tell your recruit(s) to run straight ahead and attack (press & hold triangle).
Then run over to your left to heal the wounded civilian. (+15) Turn back around
and use the building in the center to scope out the area over where the dozens
of crates are. From here take out the barrels to kill a few guards. Run down
and to the left to hide behind the boxes (make sure your recruits are following
you). Clear this center area out, then head to the right and down the alleyway
past the cars. Make a right turn, turn left into the small alleyway, and heal
the civilian. (+15)
Head back to the firefight area where all the crates are. Head straight across
to the other side (it would be the left from the starting point). When you pass
the barriers Isabella reminds you to check your map once in a while. Keep going
forward until the cluttered alleyway turns left. Run and hide some crates
around the turn. Leap out and kill as many soldiers as you can. After killing
them all go into the building on the left (the open doorway). Two soldiers are
in here. Kill them and head up the stairwell past the room across from where
you came in at. Be sure to pick up the medic kits before going up the steps.
When you get to the next floor you will see Troy tied up and soldiers
surrounding him. Kill them, take cover behind the crates, then aim for the
other soldiers in this room. Troy runs up stairs to the roof. Follow him. When
you arrive three soldiers will be up there. Kill them while cautiously coming
to the roof. Go up to the flag base and press X to raise (+25). Go to hotel.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~~~~~~~
Area 1
~~~~~~~~
:: Hotel ::
In the event that any of your recruits become wounded, come back to this area
and recruit another fighter. Not unless you want to use your medic kits on
them.
From where your start point is, to the left is a wave of guards held up in the
parking lot entrance. Them and your freedom fighters are in a standoff. Get as
many recruits as possible. Then tell them to attack the soldiers at the
entrance. If they can't do it, send more over here. When this area is clear,
recruit some new and fresh fighters. Take the pathway just past the "ExPress"
truck---it's to the right of this entrance. Run down, climb up on the dumpster,
climb through the window and kill the guy here. Run down further and two
soldiers will rush out. Kill them and head back down the hall and close to the
window. Go through the doorway that's just before the stairwell (if you need a
new fighter & some health, go into this stairwell anyhow). Out here is a
blown-up part of the building. Heal the wounded guy in the corner (+15) and
drop down. Have your men rush the building near you. Then set your sights on
the street area. Take the soldiers out that are in the street, while taking
cover behind the tank. Alternatively, you can go upstairs in the building next
to you and shoot these guys from the upstairs window. Be patient: this takes a
while but it must be done this way.
Tell you men to follow you and head across the street to the diner (on the
other side of the tank). If you didn't kill all of the soldiers over here, make
sure you do so before running out. Get on to the stationary tripod gun that's
looking up the hill. Shoot any guards you see, blowing up the truck if they get
near it. After killing quite a few and they're no longer coming, go into the
diner with the checkered floor (it says "9" above the doorway). Walk over to
where the sink & stove are at on this counter is some C4 charges. If you can't
pick them up, try climbing or jumping up on this counter and you should receive
them. Head out the back door of this diner. Turn right, go down the alley, dart
across the street, and talk go over to the manhole. Over here are two wounded
fighters. Heal them and they will hold off any soldiers that come down the
hill. Run back across and into the back of the diner again.
Keep going down and then turn right at the fire escape and up the steps. Climb
on the dumpster and over the wall. Shoot the three soldiers down below. Open up
the gate, talk to the prisoners, and then escort them back to one of the
previous manholes in the level. Walk up to it and prisoner 1 will climb down
(+15) and then prisoner two will climb down (+15).
Come back to this area near where these prisoners were being held. Instead of
turning right to where the cell is, turn left and go down the alley. Go into
the building to take the stairwell up into the first open door you see. Turn
right and into the office, then shoot the guy looking out the window. From up
here take out any soldiers that you possible can, because when you get down
there you don't have time to stop and fight. Exit this office area then head
back down the stairwell. When arriving down here kill any guards that confront
you. Walk down the alley a bit and look for the open window on your left. Jump
inside then go around and down the steps and grab the medic packs in front of
the computer. Head for the doorway that leads to the outside. Here's where you
have to hurry. Run up the steps, make a right, then dash across the street into
the building with the red flag hanging above.
Eliminate any and all resistance in this big lobby. Run up the steps and
around, killing the soldiers coming out the doorway. Go into the room by go up
the steps on either side. Walk out onto the ledge and raise the flag (+25). Go
to the harbor next.
~~~~~~~~
Area 2
~~~~~~~~
:: Harbor ::
Walk out and recruit some FFs. Talk to the kid at the corner where you come out
at, if you want to. When you recruit your squad, go into the ruble and work
your way to the left. Okay, the street where the enemy is goes straight and
right. Go towards the center while in the ruble and then cut over to the left.
Towards the building is a doorway you should see (it's before the soldiers in
the center road). Cut into this doorway, round the corner then take care of the
soldier over here. Walk down the hall and to an outside area with big crates in
front of you. Go up the steps to your left. Go up the staircase. When you get
to the top, jump through the window to the left. You'll be on top of a
warehouse building. Take out the soldiers on the helipad below. Then look for
any other resistance down below and take them out too.
Climb down and go towards the big tanks in front of the helicopter. Assuming
that you got the C4 from the last level (like I told you! :P), plant the C4 by
the tanks and then take cover. With the helipad & helicopter disabled, go
through the front gate with barbed wire over it. Take out the soldiers you
encounter around and ahead of the army truck. Run over to the left where the
cargo holders & crates are and climb up via the smaller crate in the center
region. From up here kill the guys at the front line from behind run over to
the left and climb up on the duct and into the window of the building. Go down
the hall, taking a left and through the open door on your left. Go inside an
heal the older civilian resting on the floor (+15). Exit the room and go to the
left. Head around the corner and kill the soldier by the window. Look out of
this window and take out as many guards to the left as you possibly can.
There's TONS of them down there so go Rambo on them. Go to the other open
window behind you. Tell your squad to wait in this building (hold circle) and
jump out onto the fire escape. As you get out immediately hold the duck button
and kill the soldier that's up here. Hide behind the sandbags to the right and
pick up his sniper rifle. If you can, take out some enemies from here. Quickly
haul ass down the fire escape and hide behind something in the corner at street
level. Call your squad down to you and give you cover. From this left side work
your way across the fortified areas, killing everyone standing. It takes a
while, but as long as you take cover and refill your energy often, you'll get
through it. You can use the tripod gun to kill the soldiers at the very end.
The left side is full of useful stuff. If you go up the steps and into the
blown-out wall in the building you can recruit some more fighters. Further up
and in a cut-off area are some medic packs. Also, in there area is a vehicle
that drops off two troops at a time. Watch out for them.
When you get to the other end and everyone is dead, go through the open gate on
the right that has "STOP" on it above the doorway. Run past the cargo holders
and to the left down an alley is a manhole and some FFs if you want to rest.
Now turn around and go through the open doorway that's by the army truck in
this cargo holder area. Take the path to the left to come out to a big
warehouse area in where a big firefight is taking place. Run back in through
the doorway and wait for the soldiers to approach. Kill them and a few more
will post up on the barriers to the left. As they pop out you and your squad
will need to shoot them. Once clear, go out and take care of any more on the
ground level. Go up the right side ramp, cut around the barrier and through the
doorway. Make a right to shoot the two soldiers from behind. Some soldiers from
outside below will climb up to you and try shooting you. Kill them until they
learn their lesson. Then focus on the guys on the ground. Kill 'em all and use
the sniper rifle nearby to get the guys in the back building. Once everyone's
dead, continue to your left into a room just like the previous warehouse. Dash
across the bridge over the warehouse and shoot the guys below. Then go for the
sniper that's up above (he's on the left). Go through the doorway at the
northeast side of the ground level.
Exit this second warehouse. Turn right as you get out and run straight forward,
passing the crates up. Go up the ramp and into the building on your left. On
the ramp above you use a soldiers whom you should kill and proceed up the
stairwell. At the top, kill the soldier and step out onto the rooftop. Turn to
the right and approach the flag. Raise it (+25) to complete the area. Go to the
gas station.
~~~~~~~~
Area 3
~~~~~~~~
:: Gas Station ::
From the start, recruit as many fighters as you can. One is to your left and
two are inside the garage. After recruiting, heal the guy in the garage (+15).
Go out into the street corner. Run up the steps and on top of the green station
with the tripod on top. Use it to kill all the soldiers that are straight
ahead: don't worry about the ones to your left unless they come towards you.
Once they enemy stronghold in front of you is no more, go up this way.
As you round the corner to the left take out any soldiers close by. Zigzag your
way down the sloping street. Halfway down and to the right are some fighters
and pickups. As you get to the end, around the left bend is another entrenched.
Make a b-line for the pile of debris to the left. Climb up and into the
building. Shoot the two soldiers up here then pick up the sniper rifle. Use it
to take out as many soldiers as possible. When you run out of bullets, swap
your weapons again and go back down the debris and into the streets. Send your
men down here to take care of the remaining two or three soldiers. Follow them
down.
Once they're all dead, head behind this entrenchment to where the street drops
off. Instead of following down to the train tracks, head through the doorway to
the right of you (to the left are some fighters if you need some). At the
bottom of the stairwell is a room with a few guys in it. Kill them and head
through the doorway out onto the train tracks. Turn and go left, down the
tracks. When you pass the broken bridge keep going down further until you see a
good bridge. Walk near the beam that's damaged under it and place the C4 that
you got from the diner of the hotel level. Once it's planted keep rushing down
and hop up on the dumpster to the right. Note that the train to the left of
this dumpster has a few medic kits in it.
Climb up the ledge and jump through the blown-out wall. Up here to the right
are some fighters and a manhole if you want to quick-save. Take the path to the
left. Pass the dumpster and turn right then go down. Out in the street to the
left is a bunch of soldiers. Hide behind the barrier and wait for them to come
to you and be slaughtered. Use your molotovs or grenades to kill the groups of
men in the back. With no one out in the street in front of you, dash across to
the other side for cover. Run down the path over here where the white beams
around. A few men will pop out. Kill them and take care of the guys behind the
barriers up here.
On the other side of the green station is a doorway light up blue. Go inside
this fire station. When you see the room with the fire trucks in it, take cover
in the doorway. Shoot them from here, having your squad defend this area. Doing
this will make them hiding and pop out when necessary. Go to the left side wall
and look for the steps. Take them up and take care of the soldiers up here.
Continue up the next flight straight ahead. Run through this area and up yet
another flight that leads to the rooftop. If you didn't kill the soldiers up
here from the streets earlier, do so now. Now go to the flag and hoist your new
one (+25). Go to the warehouse district.
:: Warehouse District ::
Recruit some fighters nearby but don't go on or near the bridge in front of
you. Instead, after getting some recruits, take the path just right of the
bridge before you would cross it. This path goes along the river below. Keep
going to the left and by another bridge this is the East Bridge. You'll know
it's the right place because you'll see the kid nearby. Walk onto it a bit
until you get the place C4 message. Plant against a wall so that the vehicle
that crosses the bridge in the center doesn’t hit you. After you plant, quickly
run to the left and back to where you came from. The bridge blows up (+25). If
you have enough charisma recruit another fighter.
Okay, you should now be back at the beginning of the level where the first
bridge is. This is the West Bridge. Send your men across, plant the bomb, and
then run across it just before it blows (+25). Kill all resistance over here.
There's a lot, but once the smoke clears, go to the left and around the corner.
Make sure your men follow you to this gate that's heavily guarded. The best
strategy is to have your men wait just before the green truck and take care of
the guards yourself. This keeps them from getting wounded by the exploding
truck. Kill the ground level guards and the one in the tower. Pass the opening
up and keep going to the left and down further. Take out the soldier in this
second tower.
Walk further left and you'll see an opening to the water. Walk along the path
to the right. Take around until you get to a dock. Eliminate the soldier over
here then heal the Soviet guard. Surprisingly, he's one of a few Soviets that
will help you if you heal him. As you look up the ramp at the base of this
dock, to the right you will see a station with maybe one or two soldiers. Take
them out and look over to the left and down the path. Kill the soldiers by the
corner and the one in the tower. Look around this station area for the fenced
area. This is where the prisoners are being held. If you try to open the fence
you get electrocuted. Instead, follow the pipe that runs from the front of the
fence to a green transformer box straight ahead. Plant the C4 by the
transformer and take cover. Open the gate and have the prisoners follow you to
where you blew the transformer box. Nearby this is a manhole. Open it up and
the prisoners will crawl down inside (+15 x4). Save your game while you're at
it.
Go around the boxes and through the front gate. Run forward and around the
corner to where the West Bridge used to be. Look for the stairs close by that
lead up to the train tracks above. Take the stairwell up and kill the soldier
at the top. Drop onto the train tracks but be careful not to get hit by the
train. Run down to the left and kill the resistance you meet here. If you see
the helicopter wait for it to drop the men off and kill them. Go to the end of
the train tracks where you will see a building on the right (to the left are
some soldiers you might want to take care of). Walk on the ramp and go into
the building. Run down the steps, take a right, and heal the second Soviet
soldier that will team up with you. Take the path to the left and down the next
set of steps. As you come outside kill anyone that approaches you from your
right side. Then go left and save your game at this manhole if you wish. Go
back to the right where the flags are hanging on the building. Some soldiers
storm out of this building. Take cover on the left side and come up behind them
for the easy kill. Collect the pickups on the left and right sides of this
area, then approach the door in the front of the building.
Soldiers are heavily fortified inside. It's not going to be easy to kill them.
Post up by the door and tell your squad to wait. Many of the soldiers will rush
out, so kill them as they do. You'll eventually want to go inside even though
more are in here. Take out the one on the balcony and anyone else you see. Go
up the ramp on the right. Work your way over to the stairs on the opposite
side. Go up them and up the stairs straight ahead. Send your men out onto this
rooftop to take care of the soldiers. Once they're all dead go through the
center and hoist the your flag (+25). Go to the movie theatre.
~~~~~~~~
Area 2
~~~~~~~~
:: Movie Theatre ::
The fighters to your right are at a standoff with the soldier north of you.
Give them a hand by killing him and then recruit these fighters. Command them
to follow you then go to the left side of the street behind the yellow cab.
Pulling them up further will allow them to get a better shot. Wait for more
guards to come from the street ahead. Take them and the next wave out. Go
around the corner where they came from and kill any remaining soldiers. Walk up
the steps near by and to a park-like area. At the top, turn left and stay
behind the fence. I recommend ducking, and if you're freedom fighters want to
run over to the soldiers across the field tell them to follow you AGAIN. This
saves their asses from being killed, and the idea is to not disturb these
soldiers since it's not necessary and a waste of ammo! Keep following along the
wooden fence until it ends (avoid the spotlight). Grab some fighters to your
left and save if you want to.
Walk into the building nearby (look for the doorway). Go down and around,
killing the soldiers as you go. At the end is a doorway to the outside. While
standing in the doorway, shoot the guy across the street. Quickly over to this
other side and into the building he was standing in front of. Up the stairwell
are some fighters. Keep going up until you get to the outside. Kill the sniper
up here. Then turn and look for the path behind you to the right. Shoot the
soldier that's straight ahead. Pick up the sniper rifle from where you killed
the first soldier and head to the side where you killed the second one. Look
off the building. Snipe as many soldiers patrolling this helipad as you
possibly can. Once you're out of sniper ammo, go back and get your automatic.
Now tell your squad to follow you and down this fire escape. Once you get down
to the helipad kill any remaining men down here. To take care of the soldiers
in the alley on the other side of the fence: simply look at them and command
your fighters to go over there. While they're doing this, run up to the tank on
the helipad and plant your C4. It blows up (+25) and it's time for you to get
out of this area.
The helipad area's exit is in front of the truck, behind the brick wall. Walk
through the doorway and into a parking garage. Behind you are some fighters and
medic packs. Grab whatever you need then go though the next door and into the
street where you'll see the theatre in front of you across the street. As soon
as you get to the top of the ramp, turn left and kill the soldiers over here if
your fighters didn't already. One of them is a sniper so be careful and work
with speed. Now on the opposite end of the street (to the right of the theatre)
are some soldiers posting up against the vehicle. Take them out, advancing as
you do. Make sure you command your squad with caution or they could get messed
up. Also, if you want to make your job easier, grab the sniper's---whom you
killed---gun and pick off the soldiers at the far end standing by the barrel.
In any event, make sure you have the assault rifle.
Get against the side of the street where the theatre is then go down. Make a
left to the sandbagged area. Command your fighters to this area and finish them
off. Continue forward towards the construction area. Make a right at the yellow
tractor and kill the soldier by the door. Go through. Run down the hall, make a
left, and then a right for some more fighters and pickups. Now it's time for
another big standoff. First, you want to get a save in because this battle is
brutal. Tell your squad to wait inside this building by the other fighters.
Then run outside through the door nearby. Immediately turn right and dash
behind the green boxes. In the corner is a manhole. Save your game because
there's a good chance you could die soon.
Call your fighters out and the battle begins. The soldiers on the other side
are heavily fortified and are in strong numbers. Take them out from all angles
but make sure your fighters don't go out there. Go onto the green station via
the steps. Kill some guys from up here. Throw plenty of grenades. Just keep
killing and killing until their numbers are low. With their numbers reduced,
send your squad over there. If a fighter gets killed near you heal them and
send them over as well. Once the smoke clears, grab some extra fighters if any
of yours went down.
Run up once all soldiers are dead. In the back left is a door. Call you squad
and go in. In the blue door on the left is the actual theatre. Go inside and
send your fighters down to the soldiers. Give them a hand. Kill these guys and
the guys that eventually storm in from the left at the bottom. Now go into the
door on the left into a lobby that's been turned into a base of operations.
Send your men to look for enemies in this lobby and grab the pickups in the
stations.
In the back left of this lobby is a doorway. Go in it and take the steps up.
Come out and round the hallways until you get in the camera room. Look for the
stairs on the other side of the wall. Go up and to the room that leads to the
rooftop. While taking cover, kill the seven or eight guards hiding behind the
fans up here. Continue to the left and you'll see the flag! Hoist your flag up
(+25) to complete the area. Go to the power plant level.
~~~~~~~~
Area 3
~~~~~~~~
:: Power Plant::
Run forward and recruit all fighters that are in a shootout. Waiting too long
will likely get them killed. Recruit them and climb up on the truck and onto
the building. Recruit the lone fighter up here to your right, then take the
path straight ahead. Send your fighters back here to clear this area out. You
come out to a balcony with steps in the middle. Don't go down yet: instead, go
to the right of the steps (by the balcony) then tell your squad to hold still.
They should come over to you and wait here---taking out all the soldiers below.
Give them a hand by taking out any soldiers that attempt to come up the steps.
Use grenades if needed.
When the area is clear go down the steps and run across the street. Keep your
men on this balcony, don't let them follow you just yet. Run through the brick
entrance. You should see one or two soldiers wounded on the ground: heal them
if you want their help. Either way, go through the alleyway where you will see
a manhole. Quick-save if you wish. Climb up to the street by using the duct at
the end of this alley.
Turn and go left down the street. Use the yellow cab as cover while taking out
any remaining soldiers. To the right of this cab, and behind the brick wall,
are some freedom fighters if you need any. Go down the street until the
street's ramp is to your left. At this point, tell your squad to follow you.
They will come up the hill from below. Before heading into the tunnel go to the
right and an ambulance is on the other side of the brick wall. Kill the soldier
standing behind it just for good luck. ;) Now head back into the street and
into the tunnel ahead. With your squad behind you, stay to the right. Quickly
blow up the army truck and use it for cover. Dispense some grenades behind the
enemy lines. Take care of them and move up. Run up the ramp and out to the
streets again.
In front of you are some fighters if you need any. Go through the doorway to
your right that's by some ruble. Climb onto the beam that has a flaming barrel
is under. Kill the sniper that's up here, take his gun, and pick off as many
soldiers by the antenna as you can. Once you're out of ammo, swap your weapon
back and jump out the window. Make sure your squad is with you. As you're down
by the antenna, stay on the left. Work your way to the pile of dirt next to the
wall on your left. Use this as cover and command your squad to attack the
enemies ahead. There are some medic kits that you can pick up near the machine
guns once all soldiers are dead. Go under the huge antenna and plant the C4. As
the antenna blows up (+25) run out the front gates with the barbed wire on top
of them.
As you get to the streets again, a manhole is to your left near the building if
you want to save. Keep going straight down and cut through the opening in the
barrier that's in front of you. If you didn't ground the helicopters in the
previous mission, you're screwed here because the helicopter is pretty much
guaranteed to kill you and your team. But to those who followed directions: Go
down to the right as you pass this barrier. Up ahead is a bunch of soldiers who
post up on the other side of the blown-up bus. Or they may even come out. It
depends. Launch some grenades over there and send your squad in. Work quickly:
one of the soldiers has a rocket launcher (he likes to hide in the hole behind
the bus). I'm assuming that if you didn't ground the helicopters you could use
this to blow it up, but it's just not worth it. The rocket launcher dude can be
taken care of by having your squad stay back and behind the bus. Run to the
left of the bus, dash to the right where the car is flipped on its side. When
he shoots a rocket quickly jump over it. Then throw a grenade in the hole and
follow up by killing any remaining soldiers in the area.
Call your men and go down further. On the other side of the group of cars are
some more soldiers that are out in the open. One has a sniper rifle, so be
careful. Heal any downed fighters and continue down the street. Look to the
right and you will see a section of the fence missing above the barrier. Climb
up and over it to be in front of the power station.
If you look straight ahead to the left, you will see a guy up on top of the
green station. I recommend that you go back and get the sniper rifle *just for*
this guy. If you don't take him out first, he could make you pay with the
machine gun he mounts. Once he's dead this area becomes pretty easy to
infiltrate by yourself. Tell your squad to wait behind the brick wall; shoot
the cop car and go over to take cover behind these cars; kill anyone that
approaches. Next go to the back and behind them on the right. Once the area is
clear call your squad in.
Walk through the pathway to the back right where the big red flags are draping
down. Just around this corner to the right is a manhole. Save your game and
grab the medic kits nearby. While your squad is following, go into the building
to your left. As you get inside, turn left, and kill the soldier behind the
boxes. Have your squad post up by the doorway on the right side of this same
hallway. In this next room are some soldiers hiding behind the crates. Draw
them out to allow your fighters take care of them one by one. Next go inside.
Go over to the generators on your left. First take out the men in the center at
the bottom. Run to the right and set your sights on the guys on the balcony.
Toss a grenade up there, call your squad, and go to the left to the doorway.
Kill the soldier that pops out and go up the steps to the right. As the
stairwell gets to the balcony kill any soldiers that your grenades may have
missed. Next, a bunch of soldiers bust into the generator room below. Send your
squad down there to finish them off and use the machine gun for extra help.
Call your squad back up and continue up the stairwell. Exit through the double
doors to the roof. Go out and raise your flag (+25) to finish the level. Go to
the naval base level.
:: Naval Base ::
This level requires better weapon usage than the previous levels in the game.
You will do a lot of backtracking if you want to beat the level efficiently.
But it's worth it. Please start the level with the sniper rifle by getting it
from your Rebel Base. Otherwise, this walkthrough may seem a bit off to you.
As you start the level, walk up the steps up to a cylinder-like building. Equip
your handgun then sneak around to the right and kill the three soldiers by the
boxes. From this point equip your sniper rifle. Look across (slightly to the
right) and over the water. In one of the towers you will see a soldier by the
window: kill him with your sniper rifle. Next, swap your rifle with the
automatic that the guards dropped. With this equipped, keep going around until
you get to the front where a bunch of boxes are. Look for the doors on this
building you rounded, and then go inside. As you enter, go left and up the
stairs. When you get to the top kill the soldier standing by the big fan
overlooking the level. Remember that his sniper rifle is up here because you
need to come back later for it.
Go down and exit this cylinder building. As you exit, go straight ahead towards
the green crates and boxes. Work your way through them until you start to see
some soldiers: a few to the left and one on top the station to your right. Run
back and take cover behind anything you wish. Once they come to you open fire
on them. Once they drop, advance again and make sure no one is by this station.
Go on top of it and grab the medic kits. There are some shotguns leaned against
the wall but you won't use these just yet. Run back down and work your way
northwest.
Once you find the alleyway back here keep going down. You'll encounter a few
guards on the way, but keep advancing until you get to the building with a red
star above doorway. Just right of this area is a wall with crates against it.
Climb on top the wall and look for the small alleyway to your right over there
is a few guards, so chuck a grenade or molotov over there. Then hop down and
make sure they're all dead. Once they're taken care of, open the manhole near
you and quick-save.
Continue up the alley whilst crouching. Kill the two guards at the opening to
the left. Keep moving up the alley. Eventually you get to a path that goes
right and one going straight still. On the straight trail, and in the back, are
some soldiers---a bunch of soldiers. Hide behind the crates in the right corner
lure them to you and take three or four out this way if you can. Toss some
grenades back to where the tripod gun is. Clear the rest out. Some may even
come from the right turn above, so kill them as well. Turn down the right path
to come out to an open area. If you look ahead you will see two towers and a
station on the left. Don't do anything just yet. Instead, go back and get your
sniper rifle whether it be the on at the top of the cylinder building or
outside of it. Just get one and come back to this area.
First, take care of the soldier on the ground level with your handgun. Next,
shoot the guy on top of the station. Then look over to the towers in the far
back. Shoot and kill the soldier in the left tower and one in the right tower.
Now you want to go back and get some sort of combat weapon. I recommend those
shotguns you seen lined up on top of the station towards the beginning. If you
don't want it, get some sort of automatic weapon but make sure you collect as
much ammo as you can. Come back to this area once more and go out as if you're
going to the two towers. But make a right when you get towards the land's edge.
Far down and by the steps you should see some soldiers.
Go down as you're going towards them, but then cut to your right and hide
behind the concrete wall. Toss some molotovs or grenades to the left by these
steps. The best strategy would be to go against the brick building, pop out to
the left, shoot them, and hide again. You can really do damage this way
especially if you have the shotgun. When they stop coming to the steps walk up
to them slightly and see if any more are there. Do NOT walk up these steps or
you'll be sorry!
Run over to the two towers, climb up the ladder under the right tower. Grab the
sniper rifle up here then look over to the left in the proximity of the steps.
On the ground level you'll see a guy in full-fledged body armor in between the
white beams. Upstairs above him is Tatarin. If you want to take care of the
armored guy, go ahead, but you must shoot him exactly in his face (by his eyes)
several times. Otherwise, he won't be hurt. Shoot and kill Tatarin (+25).
Now that Tatarin is dead, waste no time getting the hell out of this place.
Climb down the ladder and hop in to the water on the side towards the beginning
of the level. Start swimming back to the cylinder building you see straight
head. By now you should have heard a message broadcasted by the helicopter that
is now looking for you! Keep swimming but stay away from the wall. Swim around
the bend to the right and towards you boat. Climb up to complete the level.
~~~~~~~~
Area 1
~~~~~~~~
:: Rebel Base ::
Your Rebel Base has been captured and the sewer system is crawling with Reds as
if they were rats infesting the place. Time to lay down the rat traps.
At the start, take out the soldiers across from you. If you have a sniper rifle
from the last level, kill them with it from across, and then skip to the next
paragraph. Otherwise, stay here. Run around to the back of your base and to the
other side. Grab the assault rifle that's leaning against the wall. Keep
running around to the front and drop off into the water where the broken
railing is. Swim to the right to take cover behind the piece of debris that's
sticking up out of the water. Stay behind this and climb up onto the part of
the black rock that's behind this as well. While still protected, throw a
grenade at full force up to the soldiers by the doorway. Hopefully you will
kill at least one or two. Leap frog across the rocks and climb up to them.
Quickly spray any remaining solider(s) with bullets. Pick up any remaining
weapons and skip the next paragraph.
After you snipe these soldiers, run around your Rebel Base and grab the assault
rifle. Jump into the water where the broken rail is across from them. Climb up
onto the closest rock to them and go up. Pick up any ammo that is available for
your weapon. Go to the next paragraph.
Now that these guys are dead, it's worth mentioning that there is still another
tunnel on the other side of your base. Over there is a shotgun and some
pickups. It's up to you if you want to jump back in the water and get the
stuff. Either way, go down this tunnel where you killed the soldiers. Climb up
the crates in front of you to grab the pickups. Next, take the tunnel to the
right with the "Compression Room" sign above it. Keep following through until
you come to a flock of soldiers. Kill them and you've basically seen what this
whole level is about. Make a left at their bodies; go down while killing anyone
you see. Cross the small bridge and out to an open area with tons of soldiers.
This won't be easy.
The left path (the side you're on) can be easily cleared out with your assault
rifle or shotgun. Do so, then climb up the ladder. Clear out up here and head
back down the ladder go back to the beginning wherever you dropped you sniper
rifle. Pick it up, come back and kill the guys on the right side.
Alternatively, you could use the rocket launchers in the back room once at the
top of the ladder. Just use the rockets wisely: firing in between two or three
soldiers against the wall always works well.
Once they're all dead cross the broken bridge and over the water. Run down the
right side and collect the weapon pickups, with the assault rifle being
preferred. Go into the tunnel on this side that's label "Middle Tunnel System".
Now comes a crucial point. Take the left path first. Climb down the crates in
the hole. As you get to the bottom, take the first left that you see, and there
will be steps straight ahead. Over the pipe in this darkened room is a bunch of
soldiers. Kill as many as you through the grating. This includes moltovs,
grenades, and a bit of gunfire. Don't use all of your ammo but be careful.
Killing these guys will make this level easier for you later on. Note: there
should be three past the pipe in front of you, one before the pipe to your
left, and two before the pipe to your right. Once taken care of, turn around
and climb up the pile of crates and out of this hole.
When out of this hole, make a left and go forward and up the steps. Continue up
and around, then kill the soldier in this tunnel. Down further are some
soldiers posted in the first of three connected rooms. Kill them by aiming
since you can see their torso & head areas fairly well. Run into this first
room and clear the second room out. Same with the third room. Gather any
pickups because ammo and health are especially crucial on this level. Head out
the third room and make a right down the steps. There may be one or two
soldiers along the way.
As you get to the bottom you will see an exit to this tunnel and into a big
mining room. Kill the three guards as you see fit---as usual, grenades and gun
spray will do. Hop inside the tunnel on the back left wall. Go down, killing
soldiers as you do. When you get off the steps, crouch forward and hide behind
the boxes. You may have to back up a bit because there seems to be a glitch in
the game that makes your gun point towards the wall. Fire at these soldiers
while in aim mode. Then run towards them and toss a grenade up to make sure
they're dead.
In the room to the left are two soldiers and a heavily armored guard much like
the one you saw in the previous mission protecting Tatarin. Toss a grenade near
him to kill him. If you don't have any grenades, don't bother with molotovs.
Instead, peek in the doorway and do your best to shoot him in his eyes. When
you shoot aim a bit low and shoot off at least 4 or 5 rounds. If that doesn't
work repeat this until he drops dead.
Pick up his gun and the pickups next to the pile of wood. As you come out to
the right of the next tunnel you will see an entrenchment of guards. Heavily
fortified and well equipped, these guards are ready for you. Run out and hide
behind the crates on your right. Kill the soldiers on the frontline from this
spot. Run up and toss a grenade in the back if you have any. Otherwise, you're
going to have to shoot this second armored soldier in his eyes like before. If
you run out of ammo go back to the first armored soldier and collect the gun
you swapped with his. This room should be cleared as fast as possible. If you
didn't take the guards on the right path out earlier in the level, don't bother
going to the right. But if you DID do this then go in here. Clean out any
guards left and the ones below. Go out to the hallway again.
Go down, make a right, and shoot the guy on the platform. Take it left and go
down the hallway with the construction cones. Walk through the door and meet up
with two of your comrades to complete the mission. Go to the high school level.
:: High School ::
Walk up to the vent in the corner. Climb up the duct and hop through the window
into the building. Take the left path to the stairwell. At the bottom are some
freedom fighters that you should recruit. Head outside and take a right. Send
your men out to the left side of this open area, preferably holding behind the
green crates you see. To the north and northeast are some guards. Let your
squad take care of the soldiers north. You go east and work north. These
soldiers back here are armed to the tee so don't let them get ahold of the
machine guns or you could pay dearly. Work your way to area on the right that
has a red flag hanging on the wall (you can't miss it).
Go around the right and make a left into the building kill the soldiers in
here, and any that come through the doorway on the other side. Then go through
this doorway, killing anyone you see. You should now be in front of the
helipad. Plant the C4 on the helipad for it to blow up (+25), grounding the
helicopters. Work your way back to the first open area where the mound of snow
and green crates are. This time head west instead of northeast.
Run through the opening in the wall and make a right. Straight-ahead is a car
on fire. Kill any enemies around the corner to the right. Okay, walk forward a
bit and if you look to your left you should see an ExPress truck: go towards it
and around the corner to find some more fighters and a manhole. Go back and
continue down the alley.
As you get to this fork in the road (it's not obvious because of the snow)
straight-ahead is a soldier with a rocket launcher. But first hide behind a
beam or the building in the alley, and then shoot the sniper up on the right
side building. Then go up and kill the rocket launcher soldier before he can do
any damage. Then take care of the soldiers on the left pathway. On either side
of the fork under each archway is a manhole and a room to the right with some
fighters. However, make SURE you take the right side fork and NOT the left.
You will come out to an open area with tons of soldiers. Send your men against
this right wall immediately---help them as much as you can but don't put
yourself in jeopardy. When the soldiers are toast heal any of your down
fighters (if any) and then go into the doorway behind this small concrete
barrier.
As you come into the building you will see broken steps ahead and a doorway to
your right. Go right and into a barricaded school hallway. Send your squad in
to clean out the soldiers hiding behind the green crates. When you get to the
other end of this locker area, make a left and go down. You're approaching the
school entrance. In here you'll see many soldiers and one armored. Take care of
him first by tossing some grenades or having your fighters pump him with lead.
Kill the remaining that comes in this area. Then look left and have your squad
scout the outside area (which would be the center path from before). Once
they're gone, go out front and to your right (which is left from before)
and take care of these soldiers guarding the prisoners. Collect everything
around here. In the corner is a generator surrounded by concrete wall. Plant
your C4 by it to blow it up. Now you can unlock the gate and free the
prisoners. With them following, run across the big field to one of the manholes
on either side. Open it up and let them down inside (+15 x5). Run back across
the field, through the center, and into the school building entrance again.
Go up the stairwell surrounded by soda machines. Then go up the small flight in
front of you as you come to the top where you'll be in a room overlooking the
school's gymnasium. First take care of the soldier(s) on the balcony with you.
Then send your men to the bottom. Toss a few grenades down if you have some. By
the time they get down there you need to pick some off from above. Then go down
and collect all of the pickups available. If you need some recruits there are
two wounded soldiers next to the hoop closest to the ramp. On the opposite side
of the ramp is a doorway. Go through and up the steps.
Just after the "Girls" and "Boys" bathroom to the left is are some stairs. Tell
your squad to wait by the bathroom, turn up these stairs, and kill the soldier
up here. Then go down to the bottom of this stairwell to heal the two civilians
(+15 x2) down  here. Come back up onto the floor with the bathrooms. Continue
down the hall into the next area. Have your squad following you and then send
them towards the back. If you need recruits there are some at the bottom of
those stairs you just passed. Go down this locker hallway and make a right into
the classroom. Take out this ninja lady and the soldier. Climb the window, take
the balcony right, then go over and raise your flag (+25). Go to the TV
station.
~~~~~~~~
Area 2
~~~~~~~~
:: TV Station ::
Recruit the fighters to your left. Go straight down and recruit the fighters by
the barrel. Turn right and out into the street. Send your men straight down
past the cars. They'll take care of the soldiers over here. Call them back then
go back into the alley you started in. Go back towards the center of this alley
and in the tunnel with the "St. John's" signs outside of it. Recruit this
single fighter then head up the steps. Kill the soldiers at the top of these
steps. You will come out to some train tracks above the streets. Run down the
tracks towards the right. Have your soldiers defend behind the two signs
overlooking the whole entrenched area where the big colorful signs are.
As they're taking care of the soldiers below go further down to the right. Jump
on the sign on the ledge and over to the building ahead. Pick up the sniper
rifle that's up here and use it to pick any remaining guards up the center
path. Make sure you look around carefully because you want to take them out
from here as best you can. Otherwise you have to deal with them later. Once out
of ammo, swap guns, call your troops over and climb down the ductwork on the
right side of this building that you're on.
Horseshoe your way around to the right where the center path is. If any guards
approach, eliminate them. Run up the steps to the top of the green station.
Call your squad up and a ton of soldiers will appear ahead. Let your squad
handle them: you throw grenades if you feel the need to. Eventually your squad
will kill them all. Call them to the bottom of this station and have them hold
behind it.
Head up the street now. Once you pass the big hole, dash to the right where the
alley is. Go around to the back where you'll see a wounded soldier, some FF's,
and a manhole. Quick-save if you wish. I highly recommend that you do so. If
you recruited any fighters in this right side alleyway, escort them back behind
the green station to have them hold here as well.
Run back up the center and pass the hole. Only this time you'll need to go left
and through the mound of ruble. Work your way inside the torn up building. Walk
through the doorway to your right as you enter. In this room is a civilian to
your left just before you cross the wooden plank. Heal him (+15) and continue
over the plank; and head through the doorway into the adjacent building. In the
corner are some pickups and a wounded soldier is against the back wall. Grab
the rocket launcher leaning against the wall. In the left is a ramp leading up
to the next floor. Heal the civilian up here (+15).
You should notice a tank outside by now. Up in this room you can quickly shoot
it with a rocket through the window, pull back for a few seconds, and repeat.
Two well-placed shots to the top of the tank should take it out. If this spot
is too difficult for you, I suggest going all the way back to the building
where you picked up the sniper rifle. Hide behind the rails of the sign that's
up here, and then shoot your rockets at the tank.
With the tank out of commission it's time to call your squad up further. Pull
them up past the ruble where the scrolling sign the reads "Friendship" is.
There will be soldiers here that they will take care of. After this, have them
hold in this general area then go to the alley and quick-save your game. Come
back and head up the street towards the TV station that's dead center. Make
sure you've swapped back with your assault rifle or at least your shotgun.
As you approach the front of the TV station where the trucks and crates are,
send your squad over to the right where the green station is. They will take
care of the soldiers over here while you can grab the medic packs on top of the
crate & green station to your left. Call them back and proceed inside the
building straight ahead. The door to the left or right will do---it doesn't
matter. This is the TV station.
Enter the lobby and you'll see an armored soldier behind receptionist desk.
Toss a grenade his way and your squad will take care of the rest. Soldiers pour
into the lobby from the balconies left and right above. Take cover in a corner
where you can get a decent shot off. After their wave scavenge the bottom of
the lobby for the pickups. There are a ton of medic kits behind the
receptionist's desk and in the left northwest corner.
Once you got everything head up the steps on the left side of this lobby. Take
them up until you get to the broken section. Run around to the other side of
the balconies, passing the elevators up. This is where the grueling part comes
in. Out the doors above comes some regular soldiers and two armored. Call you
men up to take care of the normal ones and you grenade the armored ones as best
you can. Use the crates as cover.
Pass the elevators once they're dead. Go up the single case of steps and turn
left to see an open doorway straight ahead. Above it is a blinking red light.
As you enter, off to the right is a room with a few guards in it (if they're
not here that means they came out earlier). Clear it out and have your squad
wait here. Go into the back room and collect as many pickups as you can: medic
kits, heavy guns, handguns, etc. Go back to your squad. Now's a good time to go
all the way back outside and quick-save, it's up to you. Either way head out of
this room through the other door with the blinking light above it.
Run down then take the stairs up to the open doorway. Have your whole squad
wait behind this back cubicle closest to the water coolers. Take one fighter to
scout with you down the middle. Kill all resistance. Once clear, you can get
some pickups on the right side of the cubicles. Call your men down the center
with you. At the end is a doorway to the left. Go into the room and kill the
guard or two by the other door. Have you squad wait in this room.
When you step out of the door the alarm goes off in this darkened room. Kill
the soldiers that you see out here then turn left to look up the center: many
soldiers. Toss at least 2 grenades up this way. The idea is to kill the armored
soldier so that your squad doesn't have to deal with him. Once he's dead, call
your squad up to take care of the rest. Keep going down and around to the
right. By the third flashing light is a doorway to the staircase. Kill the two
or three soldiers that come out and then call your squad to head up the steps.
The steps exit to a cafeteria area in the building. Make a left, kill the
soldiers in this hallway; make another left and kill this next soldier.
Finally, make a third left and you will see and open doorway. Have you squad
wait around the corner. Toss a grenade in and when it blows up send your whole
squad in. Follow behind them into this TV production studio and give them a
hand. Once they're all dead walk through the broken window, climb on the ledge,
and raise your flag (+25) to complete the level.
3.70                      On Thin Ice, Winter 2003
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**NOTE** This chapter can be beaten in several slightly different ways. My
        walkthrough gives you, in my opinion, the easiest and most *efficient*
        way. Sure you can go off path and experiment, but you'll eventually
        have to do certain things and come back to certain areas. Nevertheless
        my walkthrough gets the job done and gives you a very good idea on
        you have to do... This is grueling chapter. Good luck.
~~~~~~~~
Area 1
~~~~~~~~
:: Boat Landing ::
Pick up all of your things off the ground. Tell your guys to wait behind this
boat. Go to the right side of the boat, where the front is. Peak out then dash
behind the barrel that's leftmost. Then run behind the downed helicopter close
by. Then men in towers will shoot at you, so be careful not to stay in the open
too long, because they hit hard. From behind this first helicopter run to the
right and go along the water's ledge to hide behind part of a ship on the
right. If there are any soldiers towards the center kill them. Run across the
center towards the left where the second helicopter is. Using the debris from
the wreckage as cover, work your way to the left where the rocket launcher is
on the large piece of ice. Always stop and hide closely behind each piece of
wreckage or you could be shot. Pick up the RL and fire at the tower up center
where the two soldiers are shooting at you from. It blows up (+25) and you are
now free to move up center.
Collect all of the pickups and call your fighters to you. Heal any downed
fighters because you'll need them. Finally, pick up the assault rifle and go
around collecting ammo for it. Head to the left and use the ice to advance
upwards towards the island. As you near its shore you'll see a bunch of
soldiers: kill them as you come ashore. Climb up the ladder between the two
bridges.
As you climb up don't bother with the soldiers on the other side of the fence
to your right. Instead, head left and up the steps. Behind the green army truck
is a manhole. Quick-save your game. Now choose "Another Location" from the menu
that pops up when you open the manhole. Now you should see a larger map of
Governor's Island that puts everything into perspective. Go to the munitions
depot area.
:: Munitions Depot ::
From the start grab the pickups on the ground in front of you. Turn around and
go right of the burning building. Go into crouch mode and climb up onto the
cargo holder by using the mound of snow that's there. Stay in crouch mode then
hop down to the other side so that the armored soldier on your right doesn't
spot you. Continue crouching. Pass the burning barrel and stop behind the
wooden crates. By the gate to your right you will see a bunch of soldiers and a
ninja. Dash up and into the open hangar that's near them (straight, to the
right a bit). You will be spotted, so prepare for some to rush in. As they rush
in, shoot them and then take out the rest from inside the hangar. If you throw
grenades or molotovs be careful not to throw them where they will come back to
you. Once all the soldiers are dead in *this* area, grab the C4 on one of the
boxes and head out the hangar. Make a right as soon as you exit and around the
corner is a manhole. Open it up, quick-save, and go back to the boat landing
area.
:: Boat Landing ::
As you come up on Boat Landing for the second of three trips, you should be by
the truck where you first left the area. While facing in the direction of the
truck (towards the water), take a right around the corner. Go on the other side
of the shack and into the building. Kill the soldier inside, go up the wooden
steps, and kill the soldier up here. Run the small set of steps and into the
back office to kill the single soldier in here. Grab the medic pack on the desk
and go into the room diagonally across from this office. It's hard to spot, but
once you get inside heal the civilian (+15).
Come out and turn right. Go straight and outside onto the balcony. Take the
steps down and head through the open fence. On the other end and in the tower
is a sniper, so be careful in this are by staying behind the cargo holders as
you work your way up. Heal the FF on the ground to the left. Dash over to the
right behind the two cargo holders next to each other. Kill the soldier on the
ground over here. Make sure the fighter is following you at this point.
As you go inside the tower in the shape of a cylinder, go to the right around
the bend, and kill the few soldiers this way. Run around to the opposite side
and to the steps. Kill the soldiers in and around these steps. Some will even
come down. Once clear, head up the steps. When you get to the top turn around
and kill the sniper standing by the fan overlooking the bay, then pick up the
medic kits near him. Plant the C4 near the panel of the floor fan. Jump over to
the platform connected to the steps so that when it blows up (+25) you won't
take damage. When all of the FF's have come out of the newly formed hole, have
them follow you to the bottom of the tower and outside.
Out here will be some soldiers that weren't here before. Toss a grenade or two
towards the armored soldier. When he's finished take cover behind the cargo
holders and finish the rest of the soldiers off in this center path. Advance
and kill the soldiers by the truck to your left. Once they're done for take
the path right, instead, and work your way back to the manhole. This can be
achieved by going up into the building, around, and outside making a left near
the army truck. Use this manhole to go to back to the artillery area.
:: Artillery ::
With your squad following you, go straight ahead out to the area under the red
flag. Run down the street, point at the yellow tractor, and tell your squad to
hold/defend at that spot. Climb up on the vents that are attached to the
building on the right side of this street. Get up on the roof and shoot the guy
up here. From here take as many soldiers as you can call in your squad to pick
up the scraps. Send them around the corner to the right.
You should go to the barrier that's right at the turn. Behind it is a sniper
rifle. Pick it up and shoot the soldiers at the very end of the street. Swap
your guns then move up with your squad that's probably still fighting soldiers
coming from the left and right. Grab the medic kits that are behind the
barriers where the machine guns are. Advance once all of the soldiers in front
of you area dead. Go into the small building on the left that's lit up yellow.
Inside, heal the lady civilian on the floor (+15). Shoot the soldier through
the window if he's there. Grab the medic kits on the desk & bed then head back
out. As soon as you come out, make a sharp left past the green crates in the
street. Look for the doorway across the street with the flaming barrel by it
and go inside the building.
Send your squad into this car shop area to take out the soldier below. In the
bathroom across from the red vending machine is a civilian and medic kit in the
sink. Heal her (+15) and get the other medic kits out of the bathroom further
down if you need them. Go through the path to the left of the vending machine
when you're facing it. Go up the steps and kill the soldier that comes down. Go
up further, killing the soldiers in this stairwell, and take care of the rest
out on the rooftop. Plant your C4 on the helipad and run back downstairs as the
attack chopper helipad blows up (+25).
For the sake of making this walkthrough "proper", I want you to now backtrack
all the way back to the manhole at the beginning. You could do other objectives
right now, but I just don't want to half-ass this walkthrough. So like I said
before, go back to the manhole and go to the docks area.
:: Docks ::
If you snuck into this mission earlier you would have noticed that was
impossible to pass because of the attack chopper shooting at you. Well, it's no
longer here because you took care of the attack helipad in the previous
mission.
Go down the street and toss a grenade over the fence into the alleyway on the
right. Toss another for good measure. Continue down the street, hiding in the
trench on the left. Toss some grenades over to the soldiers an have your squad
attack to here. Once they're done with, collect pickups.
Call you mean and head towards the right corner. Climb up on the ductwork and
climb through the hole in the building. Kill the soldier that may run up the
steps. Toss some grenades to the floor below. Send your squads down to take
care of the rest. In the corner of this room and next to some crates are two
civilians---heal the first (+15) and second person (+15). Come out the hangar
then shoot any guards down the street to the left. Blow the truck up and use it
as cover to take care of the soldiers on the side street across from the
hangar.
After finishing off these guards you and your squad should hold behind the
barrier where the machine gun is. Use this spot to take out even more soldiers
further back. There's one by the other machine gun and some around the fence
area to your right. Looking up to the right side of the street you should see
the flag in sight. At the turn in the street are some green crates. Hide behind
one of them and have your squad come hold back here with you. Take out the
soldiers at the opposite end. Continue forward and you'll see two barriers
where as the one on the left has a machine gun.
Look through the open gate to your left. Kill all soldiers you see from this
spot. Send your squad into this area now. As you come into this area you will
see the helipad in the center. Hide behind the barrier as you enter. Duck down
and spring up to take care of any soldiers. When the coast is clear, tell your
team to hold, and step onto the helipad. Plant the C4 then run down the same
ramp you came up. The transport helicopter blows up (+25). Now would be a good
time to go back to the manhole at the beginning to quick-save.
Head towards the gate to the right of propaganda sign that reads "The Red
Army". The enemy will rush you from here and some of them will come on the
roofs above. Just have your squad hold still to pick them off. Be patient and
once they're dead you can go through this gate with the red star above it. As
you get through the second gate in front of the cargo holders, turn right and
shoot the soldier that's on the machine gun in the back.
Now it's time to clear out this whole area. Go around to the left, then work
your way all the way down past all of the cargo holders. In the back is a
fortified area of soldiers. You need to take them out by using you wit and
skill. Your job is to heal your fighters and grenade the back area to take out
the heavy stuff. Your squad needs to take care of the soldiers between the
cargo holders. When you get into the back warehouse there's a soldier standing
on the beams above, just so you know. Once clear, go towards the warehouse on
the back right side. Right now would be a great time to quick-save.
Have your squad hold outside of the doorway. Lure the soldiers towards the door
and kill them as they approach. Once you get four or five this way, enter the
building with your squad following close behind. In the right corner as you
walk in, heal the civilian (+15) in the corner. Grab any pickups here and head
upstairs.
Have your squad wait before the door that leads outside to the roof. Lure the
armored soldier in and toss some grenades. Have your squad attack him to fill
him full of lead. Go out to the roof and raise your flag (+25). Go to Boat
Landing.
~~~~~~~~
Area 2
~~~~~~~~
:: Boat Landing ::
This will be your third and final time in the level. You will raise the flag
this time around.
As you come up from the manhole, take the path to the right that takes you to
the tower with the fan in it. Naturally, you kill all soldiers along the way.
When you go through the gate and the tower is straight ahead, heal the soldier
on the ground in front of you (again!). Instead of going towards the tower, go
right and towards the back area of the level. Have your squad hold by this
entrance near the army truck. When they stop shooting go through the doorway
and up the steps to your left. Heal the civilian up here (+15) and then mount
the stationary machine gun. Looking straight ahead, kill all soldiers you see
hiding behind the boxes and crates. More come from the alleyway behind the
truck in the back left. Shoot the truck if they get close to it. Once no more
soldiers are coming from this area, get off the machine gun, collect the medic
kits, and call your squad to follow you.
Head down this alleyway. If they are more soldiers over there, let your squad
attack and take cover at the same time. You will see a wall with three green
crates next to it. Tell your squad to hold and climb up on the right crate to
collect the medic kits. Toss a grenade or two over the wall. Climb up and over
the wall. Shoot the soldiers straight ahead up the steps. Clear this long
pathway out and continue till you see a cutoff to the left: kill these soldiers
standing by the barrel then move on down the alley.
Straight ahead and slightly to the left are even more soldiers. One is on the
second floor of the building in the back. Take care of the soldiers on the
ground first, then aim for the one above. Move forward and just before you
round the corner to the right grab the pickups off the crates.
Round the corner and you come out to an open area that's littered with guards.
Have you squad hold behind the balcony if you you're well off. If you're not,
hold behind the wall and wait for them to come. If you have some grenades
quickly aim for the armored guards in this area. If you took the transport
helipad out in a previous level, then no more soldiers should come. Collect
the pickups. Go up the steps on the left side and raise the flag (+25) near the
wall. Go back to the munitions depot.
~~~~~~~~
Area 3
~~~~~~~~
:: Munitions Depot ::
Now that the attack chopper is absent this time around, this level becomes much
easier. You won't have to resort to using the RPG to take it down. And you have
some FF's with you.
When you come up, go right to kill the soldiers standing over here. Go into the
warehouse and grab the C4 from its oh-so-popular spot. Head out and to the
opposite side---the left---of this building where a bunch of cargo holders are.
Kill the soldiers in the vicinity and go up into the office upstairs in front
of these cargo holders. Kill the sniper up here, have your team hold, and use
the sniper rifle to pick off a few soldiers at the other end of the street.
Swap weapons then have them follow you outside downstairs. Hide behind the
bigger crates then wait for enemies to advance towards you. As they do, kill
them. Run into the warehouse on the right, grab the RPG/RL and use it to blow
up the armored guard at the other end of the street. Once light on soldiers,
send your squad into the warehouse on the left. They'll have a big shootout
with the soldiers in here. Help them if you want, but stay away from the army
truck in case it blows. Run back out into the street and go down to the dead
end. Heal the civilian in the right corner (+15). Go back into the warehouse on
the left. Heal the civilian in here (+15). Go through the doorway to the right
of the truck. Go outside and raise your flag (+25). Go back to the artillery
area.
~~~~~~~~
Area 4
~~~~~~~~
:: Artillery ::
Send your squad down to the opposite end of the burning helicopter. Follow them
and take care of any soldiers they leave behind. Plant the bomb on the first
mortar to blow it up (+25). Plant one on the second mortar to blow it up (+25).
Head back down to the other end of the street where the burning
helicopter/building is. Take the small path to the right where you'll see the
red flag hanging above. From here, you basically want to take the same path
that you took before the last time you were in the level: get to the garage
where you healed the girl in the bathroom, but don't bother going in the
bathroom or even up to the roof. Instead, go through the door on the other side
as you get into this garage. Advance through the next building with the stalls
and such, come out and turn right into the alley.
In the street ahead you will see a stationed area with guards. Have your squad
attack and give them a hand. Go into the building across the street, then kill
the guards at the bottom. Go up the steps in the back and kill everyone at the
top (the ninja & armored soldier). Heal the civilian up here (+15) then through
the doorway that leads to the roof. Raise your flag (+25).
~~~~~~~~
Area 5
~~~~~~~~
:: Fort Jay ::
If you need medic kits, turn around and get some out of the warehouse. Run out
into the open and drop in trench and work your way right. Shoot the soldiers
above and in the trench. Go over to the broken up building and take the steps
up to the top. Up here you should see a lone soldier: kill him and use his
mounted machine gun to kill as many soldiers uphill. Come down and into the
trench again. Take it all the way around to the left and kill the soldiers
over here. Find the entrance to the bunker then go down in it. Kill all
resistance in here and collect the pickups.
Go back outside to work your way up hill. Hide behind some ruble in the center,
and have your FF's wait behind something along with you. Take out the soldiers
behind the barrier on the left with grenades. Same with the right side. A line
of soldiers will rush out the center. Kill them then set your sites on getting
inside. Shoot the snipers on the tower above center. Rush inside the fort to
kill the armored soldiers: one in each room left and right.
Run up the steps in the center to take them around to the left. Kill the
soldiers in and around this first honeycomb-like room and hallway. Head through
the path on the right side to take the steps to another honeycomb area. Same
procedure as before: take out the soldiers in the halls then the ones in the
center, with the help of your squad. Go right again to an outside area.
Shoot to kill the several guards that area standing outside here. Turn and look
for the room with the pipes on the wall on your right side. Follow through and
outside again. Follow along this fort wall, killing all enemies as you go. When
you see the tower with the spotlight near it, shoot and kill the guy up there.
Keep going around until you get to another cell area. Make a left up the ramp
and into the room where Isabella is being held. Walk up and rescue her. Exit
this room and go up the steps straight across.
The stairs split left and right: go up right where you'll encounter the first
of a series of fortified guard areas. Go up, kill them whatever way you see
fit, and then raise the flag (+25). Continue through the next path. From here
on out it's a very linear path through some control rooms and living quarters,
so it's worthless for me to explain where to go because you HAVE to go this
wall. Basically, you'll know you're close to the flags when you come up a split
set of steps and you are able to go left and right freely. Once you see this
part, go either way. If you go left, you can raise the two linked up areas of
flags (+25 x2), then run back over to the other side and raise the final flag
(+25). Congratulations, you beat the game... Or did you?
Well, it really is the end of the game technically. Just read the next section
for more details.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.80                             Liberty Island
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What is Liberty Island?
A: It's a bonus level that's unlocked after you beat the game.
Q: How do I unlock it?
A: By beating the game on either of the two highest difficulties.
Q: How do I see if I've unlocked it?
A: After you beat the game load your save file and go to level select. Scroll
  down and see if it's at the bottom.
Q: What purpose does this level serve?
A: Not much... It seems (I'm assuming!) that it was originally intended to be a
  real full-fledged level but the idea was later scrapped. Then it was given
  in its raw form as a bonus level. Note that this is total speculation on my
  part. This level could have been made just for this purpose. It's possible
  seeing how the enemy placement is. So I don't know for sure.
Q: A walkthrough would be nice, right?
A: Yes it would, but I'll just give you pointers instead since the level is
  short and mindless:
   - Kill the guards in front of you at the beginning
   - Recruit fighters and go up big ramp on the right
   - Kill all soldiers below
   - Work your way on top of the Statue of Liberty
   - Receive a special message ;)
Q: Do I get anything for beating it?
A: No.
And again, congrats on beating the game! :)
Monkey Wrench:
Your basic melee weapon, the monkey wrench can be used at close range only. It
is also used for opening manholes.
Revolver:
Slow but deadly. This six-shooter is very old-fashioned.
Pistol:
Holding a max of 17 rounds, this Russian-made pistol is versatile but weak.
Shotgun:
Deadly at close-range and inaccurate at long range, the shotgun is the weapon
of choice in tight quartered firefights.
Assault Rifle:
Fast fire rate, but not always accurate. Great for clearing rooms.
SMG:
Decidely quieter, the SMG is an decent alternative to the assault rifle.
Sniper Rifle:
Use for killing enemies at a distance, the sniper rifle has near-perfect
accuracy. Just don't use it at close range.
Machine Gun:
Coming in two forms: stationary and regular, the machine gun hits hard and has
a very large clip capacity. The best automatic weapon in the game.
Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher:
Slow and heavy. The RL/RPG is only used in specific situations. Taking down
tanks, helicopters, and a group of soldiers always does it justice.
Molotov Cocktail:
Used for burning enemies. Excellent for groups of enemies but they usually
don't kill them. Fire some extra shots to ensure death.
Fragmentation Grenade:
Allowing you to get distance & cover from an enemy, the grenade blows after a
few seconds. Be warned that if it isn't close enough to your enemy, they may
get back up!
Pickups
~~~~~~~

Medic Kits:
Restores health 100%. Use this before you get too low.

Ammo Boxes:
Depending on what they're for, the ammo boxes will give you extra ammo on the
corresponding weapons.

Binoculars:
Found in various spots throughout the game, the binoculars allow you to see
enemies at a distance without needing the sniper rifle's scope.

Glitch: See-Through Wall
~~~~~~~
On the High School level, just before you go into the building that leads to
the helipad you should see a red flag hanging on it. Go to the right of this
red flag, pass the two green crates and in the corner where the snow forms a
small ramp against the wall. Go in this corner then turn around facing away
from the corner. On your left you should be able to see through the wall! Note
that I don't know if this appears in any other version besides the PS2. I'm
willing to bet it does, though.
Glitch: NPCs Get Stuck
~~~~~~~
This glitch occurs at the beginning of the Boat Landing level, on the ice area.
If any AI (including your recruits) fall into the water, they die. But your
recruits can be found around the ice, only they won't show up on a map.
--Submitted by kainokirasgashi(at)lycos(dot)com

Glitch: Powdered Feet
~~~~~~~
This glitch also occurs on the Boat Landing level, on any occasion. In the fan
tower, if you notice, you are kicking up snow. This happens despite that fact
that you're inside the building, and not outside where it's snowing. A very
minor glitch, but a glitch nonetheless.
Glitch: Go Through Ceiling
~~~~~~~
On Munitions Depot, go into the room where the C4s are. Stand on top the crate
where the medic kits are. Now jump and you should go through the ceiling above
and on top of the roof.

Developer Message: First Level
~~~~~~~
Eivind T writes: "I have started playing FF, and now I am wondering if there
is an extra Easter egg. In the first level, just after healing the wounded
man, you go into a house. On the second platform a message is written on the
wall: "Bevel er din ven!". This is Danish and means "Bevel is your friend!".
This message can also be seen on the wall in the subway tunnel in front of the
police station (4 times: 3 on the right side and 1 on the left side).
Well IOI is a Danish company, so they wrote something you have to be a Dane to
catch the meaning of. Who or what is "Bevel". I don't know, but my guess is
that the message is an internal joke. "Bevel" might be a nickname for one of
the guys at the company or a guy at EA Games, that have been any thing ells
than friendly – just guessing."
4.50 | FAQs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following is a bunch of random questions that I've devised and answered. If
you have a question you'd like to ask me, send it my way and it may be
included. W A R N I N G : This section contains a few small spoilers.
Q: CAN I HURT MY FREEDOM FIGHTERS?
A: Yes. You can kill them, and they can even do the same with you. So it's best
  to stay out of their way, especially when you have a big group of them.
Q: CAN I KILL THE AMORED SOLDIERS WITH ANY KIND OF ATTACK?
A: Yes. From the molov to the gun-butt. You can kill them any way you like.
Q: HOW DOES THE SAVE SYSTEM REALLY WORK?
A: You have a auto-save and a quick-save. Auto-save is permanent and allows you
to load the level again at any time. Quick-save is not permanent but it allows
you to come back to specific points in the levels (manholes). Quick-save is
lost whenever you end your current level's session.
Q: WHAT'S THE GOAL IN MULTIPLAYER?
A: The goal is to get to the one flag in the center of the level, then raise
yours. Remain at the area with your squad. At the end of the game, the team
that holds the flag for the longest amount of time wins.
Q: HOW MANY CHARISMA POINTS DO EACH DO I GET FOR...
A: Rasing Flag: 25
  Rescuing POWs: 15
  Rescuing Civilians: 15
  Completing Objectives: 25/15
Q: DO I *HAVE* TO GET ALL OF THE CHARISMA OBJECTIVES TO GET 12 FF'S?
Q: No, because you get MORE than enough throughout the game. You do, however,
need to get many as you can because there's not a whole lot of extra things
to do.
Q: GOVENOR'S ISLAND---WHAT'S THE LEVEL ORDER?
A: Here's my route:
  ---
  Boat Landing: Sewer
  Munitions Depot: C4, sewer
  Boat Landing: Blow tower, take recruits, sewer
  Munitions Depot: C4, sewer
  Artillery: Destroy mortars, blow attack helipad, raise flag
  Docks: Blow transport helipad, sewer
  Artillery: Raise flag
  Boat Landing: Raise flag
  Munitions Depot: C4, raise flag
  Artillery: Destroy mortars, raise flag
  Fort Jay: Free Isabella, raise flags
Q: IS THERE REALLY A HIDDEN LEVEL CALLED LIBERTY ISLAND?
A: Yes. Please refer to the Liberty Island section for more details.
Q: DID THE DEVELOPERS (IO) HAVE A HIDDEN MESSAGE/AGENDA?
A: Probably not. Stop with the conspiracy theories, people!
Q: WHAT ABOUT THE MARIO BROS. SIMILARITIES?
A: While funny, I tend to ignore such a thing.
Q: CAN I LEAN UP AGAINST THE WALL LIKE MY FF'S SOMETIMES DO?
A: No.
Q: I SAW ONE OF MY FF'S BEING CHOKED BY A SOVIET... WAS I HIGH?
A: I don't know if you were high, but you certainly weren't imagining this.
  In later parts of the game you can witness your recruits being choked by a
  Soviet. To save them, simply use your melee (gun butt) attack.
Q: WHAT DOES THE NAILGUN CHEAT DO?
A: Well, first of all it does NOT give you a nail gun. What it does is make
  your enemies fly away when shot, then get pinned to whatever solid object
  is around (e.g. wall, vehicle, ect). It's a very odd but cool code.
Q: WHERE CAN I GET SOME CHEAT DEVICE CODES?
A: www.codejunkies.com <-- Action Replay
  www.cmgsccc.com     <-- Code Breaker
  www.gameshark.com   <-- GameShark
Q: WHAT ARE SOME OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EACH PLATFORM'S VERSION OF FF?
A: - PC version doesn't have multiplayer support in any form at all.
  - PS2 version requires a multi-tap to player with 3-4 players.
  - This game went through several name changes before it was permanently
    named Freedom Fighters:
     1. Freedom: Battle of Liberty Island
     2. Freedom: Soldiers of Libery
     3. Freedom Fighters
MM/DD/YYYY
05/26/2005 - This is very likely the last ever update. I combed through some
            submissions, added what I could and scrapped what I couldn't. The
            guide layout has changed for the better and so has the ASCII art.
            I no longer own Freedom Fighters so I will not read any e-mails.
03/17/2004 - A few FAQ's added along with a tip. This will likely be the
            last update since I no longer have Freedom Fighters. For those
            wanting something similar try Metal Arms: Glitch in the System!
11/13/2003 - So called "PAL invincibility" code removed after reports from
            several PAL gamers that the code didn't work.
11/06/2003 - Avatar and Concretedonkey's submissions finally added.
10/26/2003 - Glitches/Tricks section started. Many, many small errors fixed.
