V 0.5 - July 7, 2004 - Yes, I'm finally going to start working on this FAQ
again, but don't expect the same old ASCII solutions.  Instead, I've
decided to focus on image solutions.  Image solutions are more
visually appealing, and PNGs offer great compression.  To give you
an idea of how much space is saved, my old ASCII solutions for Mario
World 1 took up about 26.4 KB, wheras my PNG only takes up about 16
       KB.

Anywho, the FAQ will now just have gameplay tips, puzzle name
translations, and whatever else I can't express with pictures.  More
       soon!

Welcome Picross fans... all 2 of you.  For those not initiated in the
world of Picross, Picross is a different style of puzzle game than most.  Call
it a "picture puzzle" if you will.  Picross is a combination of the terms
"picture" and "crossword," even though words aren't really part of Picross.
My mission is to bring to you all the solutions to Easy Picross and the
10 worlds of Mario's Picross and Wario's Picross, as well as all the extra
stuff in between.  This will be a huge undertaking that will take months to
complete, so please be patient.  Well, without further ado, on to the FAQ!

Here's a section that will (hopefully) answer some of your questions.

Game Questions
--------------

1) Q. How do I access Wario's Picross?

  A. Complete World 1 of Mario's Picross to unlock Wario's Picross (there is
no need to complete Easy Picross).

2) Q. How do I erase a save file?

  A. On the Data Select screen, hold Select, the A button, and the B Button
at the same time.  "Erase?" will appear on the screen.  Press A to
     confirm or B to cancel.

3) Q. How do I access the "special" puzzles (the 10th puzzles)?

  A. You must meet certain criteria depending on what mode you're playing.
If you're playing Mario's Picross, then you must NOT:
           -Use Hints
           -Give up
           -(Presumably) Run out of time
If you're playing Wario's Picross, then you must NOT:
           -Play with Time Limit off
           -Give up
-(Presumably) Run out of time with Time Limit on
If you follow these rules, you should be able to get the extra puzzles.

Miscellaneous Questions
-----------------------

1) Q. How'd you get started in Picross 2, and why a FAQ?

  A. Well, I first played Picross 2 over 2 years ago, and fell in love with
it instantly.  It was a perfect way to satisfy the craving left by the
original Mario's Picross.  Little did I know that the game was
absolutely HUGE!  I wasn't very good in the beginning, but now I know
all the tricks to solve puzzles (which you absolutely need in Wario's
Picross).  Still, it took me over 2 years to beat the game (usually
playing on and off every few months), and when I beat it, I realized I
screwed up Wario's Picross (and some of Mario's Picross) by not getting
the 10th puzzles.  So, seeing that there were no complete FAQs for
Picross 2 at GameFAQs, plus the fact that I was going to go through the
game again anyway, I decided to undertake on the huge job of making a
FAQ for this masterpiece of a game!

2) Q. I LOOOOOOOVE PICROSS!!!  Where can I get more?!

  A. Well, Picross games are extremely hard to come by in North America,
mostly because Americans haven't been very receptive to previous games.
As such, you'll have to import them from Japan.  I'm aware of Mario's
Picross for Gameboy (which was released in the States but is extremely
hard to find), Mario's Super Picross for the Super Famicom, plus various
other Picross titles for Super Famicom available only through satellite
     I believe.  Here's info from Nintendo's site:

     http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n02/shvc/index.html

For Playstation owners, I do recall one or two titles similar (i.e.
exactly the same except with different titles) being released in Japan.
I also know for sure that there was one Picross-like game released for
Neo Geo Pocket Color in Japan.

Picross is also known by Paint-by-Numbers.  I've seen it in Games
magazine and it's quite fun with just a pencil (though considerably
harder).  If you can master the ones in Games, Picross should be a
cinch.  If you want more Paint by Numbers fun (for free), check out this
absolutely great site where I go fulfill my Picross needs:

     http://www02.so-net.ne.jp/%7Ekajitani/cgi-bin/pbn.cgi/index.html

Just register, make sure you have a Java-enabled browser, and you're
set!  The great part is the users can create and submit puzzles
themselves, and it's always being updated!

Tennis FAQ. Got some more Quick Picross puzzles done.  Make sure to
read the Quick Picross section for details.  I've also completed Levels

V 0.4 - May 12, 2001 - Wow, that was a really long wait, wasn't it?  Well,
school and my Zelda:Oracles FAQs have taken up way too much of my time.
Don't worry though.  I'm still totally committed to this FAQ.

V 0.6 - July 7, 2004 - Yes, I'm finally going to start working on this FAQ
again, but don't expect the same old ASCII solutions.  Instead, I've

Note: I have already completed Picross 2!  I need no help whatsoever with
Puzzle Solutions (except any corrections).  The only thing I need help with is
the translations, as my Japanese is non-existant and relies totally on the
edict dictionary and some guesswork.  If you're a fluent speaker of Japanese
and wish to correct my stupidity, feel free to e-mail me.

Stuff Planned
    -Perhaps different structure and look.
    -More solutions, of course!
