1. Introduction
=================
Hello, everyone. This is my first Game Boy guide I ever wrote. This will help
you play through Pachinko Time for the Game Boy. Because the game is almost
entirely in Japanese, I will provide translations so you can understand the
game and are able to play it. The translations are in English. If you do not
speak English, I have provided the Japanese text so you may copy it into
Google Translate (or your preferred translator) and translate it into your
own language.

the guide. If you make a guide for this game as well, please don't steal
information from my guide.

3. About Pachinko Time
========================
Pachinko Time was a Game Boy game released on December 8, 1989 by C-Dream and
Coconuts Japan. Marionette worked on the programming of it. The game is based
off of the company's series of Pachio-kun games, made famous on the NES. To
my knowledge, none of the Pachio-kun games were released outside of Japan.

4. How to Play Pachinko Time
==============================
==========
a. Menus
==========
At the title screen, you'll either have a choice to start the game or to play
timed. If you select Time Set, you can set the game on a time limit by a
number of 分 (Minutes) ranging from 000 to 999.
After starting the game, you'll have one of two choices:
はじめる (Hajimeru - Start) = Start a new game.
つづける (Tsudzukeru - Continue) = Continue with a 10-character password.
If you choose to continue and enter a password, there will be two options on
the right side of the screen:
すすむ (Susumu - Proceed) = Confirm password entry.
もどる (Modoru - Back) = Go back one space to change a character.
While in the parlor, you can press Select to view your score, points, and
打止め台 (Uchidomedai - Pachinko Machines Completed). To my knowledge, score
and points have no effect in this game. Press A to exit this menu.
===============
b. Map Screen
===============
Once you start the game, you will be on a map screen. You will be standing on
a sign that says スタート (Start) on the northwest corner of the screen. Your
mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make it to the southeast
corner
where it says ゴール (Goal).
There are eight parlors in all, however, you don't need to beat all of them
to complete the game. As far as I know, there's no bad ending to this game,
so taking shortcuts seems to be okay. However, if you're a completist, you
will want to beat each parlor and probably each pachinko machine in the
parlor.
You'll also see many broken paths on the map. These will be repaired with
each
parlor you complete 4 pachinko machines with.
After you complete the parlor just above the Goal, walk down into the Goal
sign to see a terrible one-screen ending with the credits.
============
c. Parlors
============
There are 8 parlors in the game, each consisting of twelve pachinko machines.
They are all numbered, but not from 1-12. Instead, they are numbered 01, 02,
03, 05, 06, 07, 08, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 15. The main goal of the game is to
play and complete enouch pachinko machines, you may walk into the southeast
corner where it says "Exit" and press the A button to leave. If you get a
message saying できません。 (Dekimasen. - Can't.), that means you have not
cleared enough pachinko machines to leave. After you are able to exit the
parlor, you are given a 10-character password to write. Write it down, or if
you are playing on an emulator, use the emulator's snapshot feature.
To select a pachinko machine, press the A button. You will then be given some
text explaining the theme of the pachinko machine, and if you would like to
play it. Select はい (Hai - Yes) to start playing.
Each parlor requires you to beat 3 pachinko machines to leave. However, you
must beat 4 pachinko machines if you want to fix the broken paths on the map.
======================
d. Pachinko Machines
======================
Pachinko is pretty much Japan's equivalent to the USA's slot machines.
You will see two numbers; one on the top-left and the other on the top-right.
The left number represents how many balls you have left. Once you lose them
all, game over. The goal is to reduce the right number down to 0. The right
number represents the amount of balls left in the pachinko machine.
On the bottom-left is another number which represents the number of the
pachinko machine. Hold the D-pad left or right to decrease or increase the
power of the ball, similar to a pinball machine. You must get the balls in
the slots in order to decrease the number on the right. If you can get them
in the middle of the machine, it will decrease the right number even more.
If you press Select, you will get three options:
つづける (Tsudzukeru - Continue) = Continue playing the pachinko machine.
やめる (Yameru - Quit) = Stop playing the pachinko machine.
くぎ を みる (Kugi o Miru - See the nails) = See machine's nails.
========
Cheats
========
Here are some GameShark codes I created for Pachinko Time. Take note that
these codes will make the game way too easy to complete, so if you want a
challenge, I wouldn't bother looking here.
019920C3 - Infinite Balls
010022C3 and 010023C3 - Complete Pachinko Machine Now
(Note: When you are at the pachinko machine screen, the southeast quarter of
the screen will glitch up. Do not worry about this, as it doesn't affect the
rest of the game in any way.)
If you want to see the game's ending (all parlors complete and paths fixed),
select Start at the title screen and choose つづける. Now press the buttons
the amount of times listed and then press the A button to enter them in the
password field.
Right 5 and A
Down 1, Right 7 and press A
Down 1, Right 2 and press A
Left 5, Down 3 and press A
Up 5, Right 4 and v A
Left 9, Down 5 and press A
Up 2, Left 4 and press A
Up 1, Right 3 and press A
Up 2, Right 7 and press A
Left 6, Down 3 and press A
Down 1, Right 6 and press Start
(In total, the password should be まRYJN ほたせKと)
Now walk all the way down, all the way right, and go down into where it says
ゴール. You will then get the ending.

FAQ
=====
Q - This game's in Japanese and I can't read it. Help!
A - I have provided translations so you can understand the game better.
Q - Is there a translated version of this game?
A - As far as I know, no English-translated version of this game exists.
Q - We would like to publish your guide on our website. May we?
A - Please send me an e-mail about it so that I may give you my permission.
The only site I have prohibited from using my guides so far is Cheat Code
Central because of their plagiarism.
Q - You have updated your guide, but have given us permission to publish the
original on our site. Can we upload the updated version?
A - Please contact me for more information.
Q - The game was by Color Dreams? The same company who made all those
terrible
NES games?
A - No. Most people get C-Dream confused with Color Dreams. Color Dreams was
an American developer who made unlicensed games. C-Dream was a Japanese
company who made licensed Japanese video games, mainly for Nintendo
consoles.
Q - The game won't let me leave the parlor!
A - You need to complete three or more pachinko machines first.
Q - The paths on the map don't get fixed.
A - You must complete four or more pachinko machines first.
Q - Is there a reward for clearing all pachinko machines in the parlor?
A - Only to fix the broken paths.
Q - Will it affect the ending in any way?
A - No.
Q - The ending screen says 'To be continue Pachio-3'. What is this?
A - They are referring to Pachiokun 3 for the Game Boy which was released in
1995, extremely late for a Game Boy game. It was also released on the
Famicom/NES but it's a different game.
Q - I cannot speak English. Can I e-mail you in another language?
A - Yes. I will translate and reply translated as best as I can. I can also
understand broken English as well.
Q - What is your real name? How old are you? Where do you live?
A - My name's Nick, and that's all I'd like to reveal about myself.
Q - What does Shift-JIS mean?
A - Shift Japanese Industrial Standards. This allows Japanese text to be seen
on this document.
Q - How long did it take to make this guide?
A - Over an hour long.
