Marble Madness is just like Super Monkey Ball but way less advanced. You move a
marble around in a small level. Off course, you'll encounter your fair share of
enemies and obstacles to make it harder. This FAQ was made as a part of the
Sega Master System FAQ Completion project. This is a project on the GameFAQs
Contributors boards to make FAQs for every Sega Master System game.
[1] [Q]. What are those numbers like [A300] next to the title of every section?
[A] It is the search engine of this FAQ. Press Ctrl and F. Type in the
search code for the section you want to go to. You should be there in
two steps.
[2] [Q]. I can't select which level to start on, how can I fix this?
[A] Set Test Fx to 2. Set Test Music to 5. Now you can chose on which level
you want to start.
[3] [Q]. How many times can I die before I get a 'Game Over' screen?
[A] You'll only get a "Game Over" screen when the time is up. You don't
have to worry about falling. You do lose points for dieing.
[4] [Q]. What happens when you get a "Game Over"?
[A] You have to restart from the beginning.
>> CONTROL PAD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
You have to use the Control Pad to move the marble. There are two control
types, Normal and Diagonal. By using the Normal option, the Down button moves
the marble south and the Up Button moves it to the North. The left button moves
it to the left and the right one to the right. Diagonal turns the controls 45°
degrees.
>> 1/START >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This button doesn't have to be used unless you are short on time. You speed up
your marble by pressing it but it is dangerous when you are close to an edge.
There are different ways to earn cash. The most important way is to play
through the level fast. Every second you have left at the end of the race gives
you 100 points. If you have forty seconds left in the first level, you'll get
4,000 points.
You'll also get 10 points every second once you get moving fast. You won't get
these bonuses when you are moving slow. You'll get bonus points for finishing
the level (1,000 for the first; 2,000 for the second.)
After finishing the game, you'll get 20,000 bonus points and 1,000 points for
every second. The bad part is that you'll lose 1,000 points for every time you
died. So, if you want to reach an high score you should be careful and fast, it
is a difficult combination because you can fall off the platform fast.
The number of seconds you get is the one for difficulty 2 because that is the
standard difficulty, there are eight difficulties ranging from zero to eight.

4.1- Practice Race [A401]
===============================================================================
This is an introductory level, yeah, only six levels and one is easy as hell.
You get sixty seconds to finish the level and become acquainted with the
controls. There are no enemies in this level and it looks bigger than it is.
Roll down until you see an arrow. Follow the arrow. You'll end up in bumpy
tunnel with lots for corners. There are high walls at some points, if you jump
over those wall and land on those marks on the ground, you'll get bonus points.
Roll further downwards until you reach the end of the level.
You start with 65 seconds in the second level but you shouldn't use them all.
You'll need them later. This is the first level where you encounter enemies.
Roll down to the southeast. Get past the Black Marble (that can't kill you) and
roll down the ramp. Keep rolling down and stop before you drop of the platform.
Go to the southeast and avoid the green enemies. They suck you up. You have to
pass three of them.
Watch out for the moving bridge, you can only get past it when it is down and
then you have to be quick. Go ahead and roll down the ramps so that you don't
have to pass that Black Marble. Follow the path until you see a pipe. Drop down
the pipe. You're almost at the end. You'll see that there is a giant pit in the
middle of level. You have to use it from the right and watch out you don't drop
in the real pit. Go to the east and you'll reach the end of the level.
You start the level with the seconds you had left in the previous level and 35
seconds extra. You start the level at the top of a ramp. You have to go down
carefully because the walls will bounce you back. Follow the path until you
reach another ramp. When you're almost down that ramp, drop to the left to
avoid the enemy. Follow the path. You'll come on a bigger platform. There are
many acid blobs present there. Hitting those blobs kills your Marble. Avoiding
them is a priority. Drop down the pipe and go down the ramps. After that, use
the patch that goes uphill. It is the easiest one. Going uphill is just as easy
as going downhill.
You start the level with the seconds you had left in the previous level and 30
seconds extra. Again, the level starts on a giant ramp. Stop the marble and
jump to the grey platform. Stop your marble and go down the ramp to the
southeast. Vacuum cleaners will appear on this path; they'll suck you to him so
that you drop from the ledge. You have to slide over the dark grey platform.
Go to the catapult and let it hit you. You need it to reach the other side of
the level. You'll see a Black Marble when you land but you can easily avoid it.
Follow the path but watch out, it is long and there are many corners. You'll
reach a part with boxing arms that push you from the side. Try to get past it
quickly. You'll reach the ending fast after a couple of left turns.
You start the level with the seconds you had left in the previous level and 20
seconds extra. You have to star by going up one of the two ramps. You can
choose which one yourself. It is a whole series of ramps. You'll see some small
enemies when you reach the top. Hit those to get some extra seconds, you get 3
seconds a piece. Go up the little ramp. Go trough the pit and head north. Avoid
the birds; you don't have to worry too much about them. They move in a straight
line. Go up the ramp and go down the following one. Go to the end of the level.
You start the level with the seconds you had left in the previous level and 20
seconds extra. You'll have to move your marble over the tiny bridge and use the
light grey platform to jump to the tunnel. Depending on how you land, you'll
come out from one of the two pipes. You'll have to move over a thin path and to
make things better; there are Acid blobs and an ice floor on your way. Go down,
you'll have to pass a floor that disappears at times. You're close to the
finish line but the last paths of the platform aren't very wide so you'll have
to watch out. You should make it right on time.
