[HOWT]
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is for the most part a straight-up
platformer game, as star Kevin McAllister must walk and jump over several levels
to win the game. Along the way, Kevin can sometimes root out certain objects to
find hidden items, such as coins, or pick up ammo for his guns that he can use
to either stun or take out opponents.
Knee Sliding is a vital part of gameplay - by pressing the Down button
while moving around, Kevin can slide, often either ducking projectiles or
eliminating ground-floor foes.

[WALK]
Start off walking right and grabbing the coin. Jump onto the flowerpot
to make the necklace fall out, then jump from the flowerpot over the patrolling
hotel employee to grab the necklace. Jump onto the left flowerpot and make your
way over the guard again. Jump onto the couch then walk over the garbage can to
make a piece of pizza come out.
Head right, where you will encounter two rattlesnakes. Press the Down
button while moving for Kevin to slide, which will somehow eliminate the snakes.
Continue on, grabbing the pizza. Ignore the first couch, but jump onto the
second couch to make a stun gun pop up from behind the painting.
Walk again, and you will encounter an old lady. Wait for her to jump
into the air, then quickly slide underneath her. Press Up when you are at the
door to the Gift Shop to enter. Inside, dodge the necklace that the cashier is
throwing at you, and quickly jump up two shelves to the top of the shop to get a
Hand Gun.
Leave the shop and take out another rattlesnake en route going right.
Jump over another vacuum cleaner. You will not find any items for a while, so
proceed onwards until you hit the front desk. Wait for the conceierge to finish
throwing the molotov cocktail-like weapon out, then jump over the floor hazard.
Continue on until you get to the person moving the luggage around, and jump onto
the couch before jumping over the luggage and person (you can also get a second
necklace from the painting here).
Grab a pizza at the next couch, then slide down the floor to take out
two more snakes. Enter the door at the end with the Hand Gun equipped, and fire
it at the old man twice to take him out. Grab the coins at the end of the shop,
then go back outside, where you will briefly be chased by the old man. Head
right, grab the pizza in the air, then slide underneath the lady once she jumps
up. You will come to a couple of pails and brooms - simply slide past them. Walk
past the corridor and another coin will pop out for you to grab.
At the elevator, stop in front of the button, and press Up to make it
light up (you may need to move a bit to make it light up). The door to the right
will open, spitting out a snake and a suitcase. Slide underneath the snake and
suitcase as they go by, then press the elevator button again. You need to press
the button five times before the left elevator will open. Hop in, and it shall
take you up to the eleventh floor.
On Floor 11, run right, collecting a five-pack of coins floating in the
air. Open the first door you see after getting the coins to enter one of the
rooms. Run right, and you will get five pizza slices from the drawer. Exit, skip
the next door, then enter the room after that. Grab the visible coin, then
examine the drawer next to the bed for another coin, before exiting out.
Continue to the end of the corridor to grab a piece of pizza.
Now, make your way all the way left back to the set of elevators, then
press Up on the botton for the right elevator to open up. Enter to head up to
the fourteenth floor. Go right, dodging the old lady, and enter the second door.
Jump on the bed to get some sort of bizarre item that looks like a tool rack
(which I have no idea what its purpose is for).
In the hallway again, skip the next door, grab some more coins, enter
the door after. Grab a pizza from this room, then run around to get a necklace
and one usage of the hand bazooka. Exit out, then continue on and into the last
room. In here, equip the stun gun or hand gun and weave around the pillows to
the left. Stun the maid and jump over her for a slice of pizza. Jump back over
and in front of the small door for some more stun gun ammo, before exiting.
Back outside, grab the pizza at the end of the corridor, then go all the
way left and press Up in front of the elevator. You shall be taken up to the
fifteenth floor. Take the first open door. In here, you can grab four slices of
pizza - one visible on top of the big drawer, two while going past the big and
small drawers, and one on the right side of the maid.
Out in the hallway, continue on to the end. Do not bother with the open
door, as there are no items to gather inside. Grab the slice of pizza, then go
all the way back to the elevators. Press the button and go down to the 12th
floor. The first unlocked room has one of those tool rack-like items, but that
is all. Right after the first room, jump over the flowerpot to get some more
Stun Gun ammo.
In the second unlocked room, take out your Hand Gun and shoot the
concierge down with one shot. take the small slice of pizza, then head left and
grab the large pizza hanging above the bed for a full life. Back outside, throw
a necklace on the ground to take out the food-boy, then continue on. Enter the
last room, where you will find a necklace and some Hand Gun ammo. Exit out, grab
the slice of pizza, then make your way back to the elevators, where you will be
taken to Floor 16.
Finally on the last floor of this level, go forth, and enter the first
room with your Hand Gun equipped. Shoot the maid once you get close to her. Jump
from the small drawer over the small door to make a Credit Card appear. When you
grab it, you will gain temporary invincibility. Quickly exit out, and go into
the next room. Here, shoot the maid down and walk past the small drawer to gain
the Turtle Dove item, which allows you to jump really high. Jump over the
painting over the bed for a slice of pizza before exiting out.
For the next unlocked room, use the Hand Gun again to quickly take out a
concierge before he can get you. Your reward for this will be a full pizza (a
life up) over the bed. Out in the corridor, continue on, grabbing a slice of
pizza, and take the Service elevator.
Down in the kitchen, grab some Hand Gun ammo off the crate, then go
left. Hit the man with the Hand Gun twice to take him out. After, head left.
Jump onto the conveyor belt, and run past the three flour things once they let
up. At the end of the belt, jump over the processor and onto the next screen.
Here, walk left, while watching out for the shaking pans and dodging any
that fall down. Continue on and avoid the fish that the butchers chop and send
flying around.
At the end, you will finally face off against a chef boss. The chef will
jump up to the opposite end of the screen while throwing a knife. Once he lands,
he will turn around and repeat his jump to the previous side. Every time he
lands, slide into him to damage him. After you slide into him five times, he
will lose his hat. Slide into the hat to get a full pizza for a single life,
then head left and out the Exit (jump on top of the bar).
---------
LEVEL TWO
---------
After the scene, run around a bit to get a Turtle Dove if you do not
already have one. As it gives you extra height to your jump take a jump on top
of the pedestal and go left. The two enemies in the bushes are rather tricky to
get past without getting damaged - start running as soon as the rock finishes
its explosion, and slide to get out of the way before the clubber brings his
club down.
Slide into the rats that you come across while continuing left. The
muggers in the bushes come in singles after the first pair, making it
considerably easier to dodge them. Once you get to the wall, climb up the blocks
to the right side until you hit the top of the wall. Go left along the wall,
killing rats and collecting coins. At the end, jump off - if you still have the
Turtle Dove powerup, you can also get a 1-Up.
Once on the ground, continue running along the streets, dodging the hits
from the several muggers. Grab a heart-point from the bench if you need one. A
short while later, run around to make a Turtle Dove appear in front of the
pedestal, where you can jump up and over it.
You will enter a zoo after this. Watch out for the monkeys and the panda
bears in the background - monkeys will toss bananas at you, while the panda
bears will toss rice balls that shall bounce a couple of times after they hit
the ground. Once you hit the hippotamus exhibit, jump up to the top, and hop
over the spit they send out until you land on the other end. Continue to run
left, dodging another mugger, until you come to some bricks in the wall.
Jump up the bricks to the top of the wall, then slide left, taking out
the rats. Hop down to your left, and continue on, dodging more muggers. Once you
get past another pair, jump around for a Turtle Dove, and jump up onto the stone
pedestal. Head left and Kevin will drop into a cave.
In the cave, head right. Tap the A button lightly to take short jumps,
and don't jump if a bat is right above your head. Ignore the pizza unless you
really need it, until you hit the sewer section. Run and slide underneath the
birds or use the Hand Gun. Keep following the lady until she directs you to a
ladder to go up onto New York's streets. Outside, jump onto the windowsill and
press Up to enter the house.
-----------
LEVEL THREE
-----------
Inside the house, go left and enter up the staircase. Jump around and
press A on this staircase door to the make the door in the hallway open. When it
finally does, enter. Inside, cross the platforms (you can land on the 2x4s, but
landing in the holes is an instant death), grabbing a key and pizza slice, then
a full pizza at the end, before jumping back and into the main hallway.
Back in the front entrance, go right and jump over the hole in the
floor. Enter the door with the flashing icon. Inside, run along, jumping over
the candle, and grabbing the key. Take the exit at the end to enter a studio.
Jump right over a few holes in the floor and go out into another hallway. In the
next room, quickly run away from the man chasing you. After a short while, you
should run past a 10 Ton weight, which will fall on the guy chasing after you.
Grab the key, then continue on and out into the main hallway.
Out here, head left and jump over all the holes until you get to the
staircase at the left end. Open the door to go upstairs. On the second floor, go
right across a floor and take the door labeled DOWN. Go right, avoiding the
debris, and jump onto the platform in the torn-up section of the wall before
jumping again to get the key. Go right, and jump over the first hole, but fall
down the second hole.
Down in the darkness, head right, grabbing a pizza. Continue right
hopping across the narrow platforms until you hit the right end. You should see
a key - grab it. Backtrack just one hole in the ceiling and jump up to make a
Turtle Dove appear. Next, go left all the way until you hit the end, and go left
off screen to go back up to the second floor hallway. Enter the door labeled
'N'.
Cross the lengthy hallway inside, grabbing some Handgun ammo, and then
Bazooka ammo, before exiting out. Take the staircase to your left, then go back
onto the staircase once again to come to a door with a flashing J. Ignore the
bowling ball, and instead run right until you get the key with the R marking.
Exit out the door at the end, then go left and up the staircase through the door
marked R.
----------
LEVEL FOUR
----------
Outside, quickly run right from the man and jump off the building down
to the street below. Start running right, sliding repeatedly to kill off the
vermin that litter the streets. It must be noted, however, that you CANNOT take
a hit or else you will lose the Turtle Dove item, which you need. At the end of
the level, cross right into the tree to begin the 'final battle'.
At the start, quickly jump up the tree branches, and equip the Stun Gun.
You need the turtle dove for this, or else you shall not be able to clear the
branches. Once you hit the top, you will see the bird woman over top, going back
and forth. Stun Harry once he gets up, and once the bird woman is right over top
of Harry, press Up for her to drop seeds on Harry. Stun Harry again as needed
and jump over him if you need to get some more space. Once Harry is hit three
times, he will be out for the count, and Marv will jump up. Do the same to Marv
to beat the game.

Other than that, considering this FAQ is for an obscure old game, if you
have any other obscure old games that you do not play anymore, consider sending
them to me (I will even pay the shipping cost!). I write FAQs for plenty of
obscure old games with no FAQs, and having a physical copy of the game (and even
better, a manual) is superior to not. You can email me if interested at
