INTRODUCTION
                          =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This game has got to be one of the best games for the Nintendo Gameboy. I have
4 gaming systems with me. A PC, the Gameboy, Super Nintendo (SNES), and the
Sony Playstation (PSX). My favorite RPG for PC is Diablo (for me, this game is
a RPG). For Gameboy, this one. For the Super Nintendo, Chrono Trigger. For the
Playstation, Chrono Cross.

This game was the FIRST RPG I’ve played and this game is the reason why I love
RPG games the most (it doesn’t matter what console as long as it is good and
well worth the money). This is also the game that introduced me to the
HP/MP/EXP/character stats system. I think I will be able to accomplish this
far earlier that the time I spent with my other guides for console games. Now,
I can type and play at the same time.

On to the game. The Tree of Mana sits on top of the clouds at Mount Illusia.
It is foretold that this tree gives immense power to anyone who touches it.
Once, Vandole tried to use this power for evil. Although they did get their
hands on the Tree, the Gemma Knights were able to abolish them. The Gemma
Knights are the protectors of the Mana Tree and the Mana Family as well as for
the whole world. Now, a new empire sets it goal at getting the power of the
Mana Tree. Again, to be used for evil purposes. It’s up to our Hero to fight
to protect the Mana Tree and the World.

C. GAME BASICS
--------------

1. Moving About
---------------

Basically, you can move around with the directional pad. You cannot
walkthrough walls, mountains, walk on water (you’ll be able to navigate the
waters in the later parts of the game).

On the field or inside dungeons, you’ll see different kinds of enemies roaming
around. If you touch one of these, you will receive damage at once. There are
various ways of getting through enemies. First, just slash it will your weapon
(although some enemies are not affected with certain types of weapons).
Second, just go around it to prevent damage and save time. Lastly, just push
them. You will be able to push an enemy, only if your level is higher than
that monster (you can’t see the level of the enemy though).

In the world map, you’ll also see some towns with people in it. You can talk
to them for information regarding where to go next. Or just simple say hello
to each other.

Basically that’s all you have to do in the game besides attacking. Try to go
with the flow of the story. It will excite you at the same time, you will be
able to finish the game.

2. Saving and Loading your game
-------------------------------

The GamePak (Gameboy Cartridge) of Final Fantasy Adventure has 2 Slots. You
can save 1 Game for every slot. Note that, both saves can be from the same
game or from 2 distinct games.

For loading games, you can only do that at the main menu by selecting the
continue option. There is no Load command in the in-game menus. So, you’ll
have to reset. Press the A, B, Select, and Start buttons at the same time.
Note that doing this won’t save your game.

3. Attacking and Battle System
------------------------------

Attacking in Final Fantasy Adventure is pretty basic. Go to an enemy within
range of your weapon and then press the A button. Your character will attack
using your weapon. If it hits the enemy, it’s HP will go down (the HP of the
enemy cannot be seen). If the enemy’s HP reaches 0, it will die and will
disappear from your sight.

If ever your HP reaches 0, the Game will be over. And remember, once you’re in
a new area, expect tougher enemies!

4. Magic System (Magic List)
----------------------------

There are only 8 Magic abilities for Final Fantasy Adventure. Here they are:

Cure  = Restores your character’s HP (2 MP)
Heal  = Remove any Status Ailment (except Moog) (1 MP)
Slep  = It lull’s enemies within the area into sleep (some are impervious
to this magic spell (1 MP)
Mute  = This will disable the casting abilities of your enemy. Some cannot
Be inflicted with this Magic Spell (1 MP)
Fire  = Throw a small fireball to the nearest enemy. This fireball will
Automatically chase your enemy even outside the screen area of the
       Gameboy. (1 MP)
Ice   = Throws a small IceBerg on your enemies. Some enemies turn into
Snowmen after being hit by the IceBerg. You can then push them to
Activate floor switches. IceBerg can be controlled by using the
Directional pad. If you accidentally hit a wall, the IceBerg will
       Disappear. (2 MP)
Lit   = Throws a Lightning Bolt straight to the enemies in front of you.
       (2 MP)
Nuke  = Strongest Magic Attack. Hurls a ball of Nuclear Energy at your
Enemies. It travels in a straight line only though. (3 MP)

Certain types of Magic do not affect some enemies. Example, fire-based enemies
are not harmed by your Fire Spell. Some enemies also have a very high Magic
Rating and cannot be inflicted with the Slep and Mute Spell.

To acquire Magic spells, most of them can be read from Magic Books and then
learned by your character. The Nuke Magic, can be obtained by beating Death.

To use a Magic spell, you MUST equip it first. Press the Start button and
choose the Magic option. Now, select the magic you want to equip. You can now
press the B button to execute the magic spell. Take note always of your
available MP. If it reaches 0, you cannot use any magic anymore.

The power of the Magic Spell also depends on your Will. If the Will Bar below
the screen is full, you can unleash the strongest effect/damage of your magic
spell.

5. Items
--------

Items are very important in the game. Especially the Keys. To be able to use
an item, you MUST equip it first by selecting it in the Item Sub-Menu. Then
use it by using the B button. Some items, like the key, are used
automatically.

Each of your items has a maximum quantity. Example, Pure Item is MAXed out at
3. You can have 16 different items in your inventory. You can have 3 Pure
Items with 3 quantities each. If you use it up, it will disappear from your
inventory (of course!).

You can acquire items, from Item Shops, spoils from enemies, chest and others
are acquired automatically.

6. Equipments
-------------

Equipments play a very important role as to how your character will fare with
the enemies in the game. Having weak weapons will give you a long time to
defeat an enemy. The same goes for the armors, helmets and Shields. The weaker
they are, the bigger the damage you get. So, make it a basic rule that, you
acquire every new equipment from shops if you reach a new town.

Another note on Shields. If your character’s Level is high enough. Let’s say
about 70. You can push the pathetic enemies out of your way. If you are weak,
you’ll get damage.

7. Non-Playable Characters (NPCs)
---------------------------------

In Final Fantasy Adventure, you also have other characters that can help you
in your journey. Although, they are very helpful, you cannot control them.
They have a quite stupid AI. They attack walls and trees, and even thin air
for crying out loud. There is a concept here which I like most about the NPCs.
It is your ability to ASK. If you ASK your NPCs, they will do their special
abilities. Here are the infos about the NPCs in the game. Take note that if a
NPC kills an enemy, its experience points will still be added to you.

HEROINE
-------
Attack: None
You’ll meet her near Topple in the beginning of the game. She is a mysterious
girl with mysterious powers. You’ll eventually know who she really is and what
her destiny is.

ASK: If you ASK her, she will slowly regenerate your HPs.

MYSTERIOUS MAN
--------------
Attack: Fireball
You’ll meet him inside the Cave of Marsh. He will immediately offer his help
in finding the Mirror that can help you find the Girl (Heroine).

ASK: If you ASK him, he will teach you how to use the item, Mattock

WATTS
-----
Attack: Axe
He’s a member of the Tribe of Dwarves. He will join you in finding the Silver
to be able to enter Gaia.

ASK: If you ASK him, he will let you shop for Items.

BOGARD
------
Attack: Sword
The Old, but still powerful, Gemma Knight will help you save the girl at the
Airship.

ASK: If you ASK him, he will teach you how to use MAX attacks.

CHOCOBO
-------
Attack: None
You can find its Egg near Menos. It will think that you are its parents and
will join you.

ASK: If you ASK the chocobo, it will give you a ride on its back. During
this time, any enemy cannot harm you. Later, Chocobo will be
    able to navigate the waters.

AMANDA
------
Attack: Dagger
You’ll meet her at the beginning of the Game but she won’t join you yet.
Later, you’ll meet her again at the Cave of Medusa to find the Tears of Medusa
to free Lester from the spell of Davias.

ASK: If you ASK her, he will heal you of Petrify (Ston) condition.

LESTER
------
Attack: Arrows
He is the brother of amanda. You will see him in the form of a parrot inside
Davias Mansion. He will join you upon breaking the spell which is upon him.

ASK: If you ASK him, he’ll change the background music (pretty useless)

MARCIE
------
Attack: Laser Beams
Marcie is a robot built by Dr. Bowow. Marcie lived in the Dime Tower ever
since.

ASK: If you ASK Marcie, your MP will be restored to its full.

8. Leveling Up
--------------

The level up system here is quite different. You can create your own type of
character with level ups. You can create a very powerful character in terms of
physical attacks. You can also create a very powerful magician with nasty
magic attacks.

When your character levels up, after gaining a specific amount of Experience,
you must choose from 4 types.

Power - This will increase the Power rating of your character. This will
make and battle with monsters easier.

Stamina - This level up concentrates on your defense. You can now have less
damage from enemy attacks. And you’ll have a big HP boost.

Wisdom - This focuses on the Magic ratings of your characters. This level up
Will give you additional MP plus additional damage caused by your
        Magic attacks to your enemies.

Will - Leveling up your Will, lessens the time that your Will Bar fills up.

9. MAX Attacks
--------------

When your Will Bar, at the bottom of the screen, fills up, you can use your
weapons’ MAX Attack. Here’s what will happen to your weapons during a MAX
Attack: (Note that MAX attacks increase the amount of damage you inflict on
your enemies)

Sword - There are 2 types of MAX attack for the sword.
       1. Charge Attack - Press the A Button + Directional pad. Your
character will charge pointing to the direction depending
on what direction you pushed in the Directional pad.
       2. Spin Attack - Press and hold the A button. This will make your
character spin his sword. During the spinning of your
character, you can move him around by pressing the
               directional pad.

Axe - At MAX, your character will throw the Axe in front of him. Doing this,
, the thrown Axe can still chop down trees.

Chain - At MAX, the chain will be longer than usual. This will enable you to
reach poles which you cannot reach during normal chain attacks.

Spear - At MAX, the Spear will be thrown in the direction your pushed on the
       directional pad.

Sickle - At MAX, the area of the spin of the Sickle will become wider.
You can still cut off Herbs.

Morning Star - At MAX, the length of the Morning Star will be much more
              Longer than normal.

------------------
D. CHARACTER STATS
------------------

The Character Stat of your Character determines how your characters fare with
the enemies around him. The higher his stat, the higher is his chance of
beating stronger opponents. Here are the different characters stats and their
explanations:

HP = Hit Points. This is the total amount of damage your character can
endure. If it reaches 0, your character will be dead.
MP = Magic Points. This determines the total number of Magic you can use.
Take note also that not all magic abilities need 1 MP, some needs more.
E = Experience. The total experience your character gained from fighting
enemies. After reaching a certain amount of Experience, your character’s
   stats will go up.
AP = The total attack power. This determines how strong your character is at
beating opponents. The higher this stat is, the easier the enemies can
    be beaten.
DP = The total defense power. This stat determines how your character
endures magic and physical attacks. The higher the DP is, the lesser
    the HP loss.
Stamn = This is just like the DP.
Power = This is just like the AP.
Wisdm = This will determine how strong your magic attacks will be. This also
       affects your total MP.
Will = this determines how fast your Will Power Bar fills up.

--------------------
E. STATUS CONDITIONS
--------------------

The status conditions mainly reflect the status of your character in the
battlefield. Some conditions affect how your character attacks or defends.
Sometimes, conditions affect the stats of your character. Here are the
different status conditions with their explanation and Cure.

POIS
----
Poisoned Status. The HP of your character will slowly deplete. To cure it, use
the item “Pure”, or use the Magic “Heal”.

MOOG
----
Moogle Condition. Your DP will drop to 0 therefore, even the weakest enemies
will deal quite a big damage to you. You’ll turn into an image of the moogle
in this condition. There is no known item that can cure it. Although there is
a moogle item, you can’t use it during Moog. There 2 known ways to cure it.
First, just let time pass by. Second, ASK your chocobo.

STON
----
Stone Condition. Your character will be petrified and cannot move. This makes
you very vulnerable to enemy attacks. In the contrary, you can still attack in
place. To cure it, use the item “Soft” or use the magic “Heal”. You can also
ASK Amanda to cure it for you.

DARK
----
Darkness Condition. During this time, your screen will be dark and you can
barely see the field/room. You can also see the enemies but it’s really
confusing. To cure it, use the item “Eyedrop”, or use the Magic “Heal”.

BEGINNING
=========

After the rolling of the Prologue, it’s time to name our Hero. There isn’t any
default name given, so you can choose whatever name you like. For the sake of
the walkthrough, let’s name it Sumo, just like what’s in the Manual. After
that, name the Heroine of the game. For the sake of the walkthrough, let’s use
the name Fuji that is also used in the manual. After naming both of them,
you’ll be taken into an arena. You’ll start off at Level 1 with 19 HPs, 6 MPs,
and 50 GP (monetary unit). And then, you will have to beat the Jackal.

BOSS: JACKAL
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         0
GP:                 0
Attacks:            none!
Preferred Weapon:   Sword (no choice!)

This Boss has a very low intelligence. It doesn’t attack you. It will just
walk in a ‘W’ like pattern. From where you are standing, you’re safe. Press
the Attack button and you’ll kill it with 8 slashes.
#############################################################################

After the battle with the Jackal, you’ll see a sad scene where Willy, Sumo’s
friend, dies after a fight with the monster. For his last words, he will tell
you that the Gemma Knights must know what happened. Sumo will be confused. He
will then tell you to go to Bogard at the Falls. Then, Willy will pass away.
Head up, through the door, to the area to the north. Here, you’ll see Amanda
who wants to go home and see her little brother. The Man will talk about the
entrance of the monsters. After talking to them, head right to the next
screen. In here, use the ladder. In this next screen, continue heading left
until you meet another Jackal. Use the same strategy against it. After the
fight, notice that the entrance of the monster is open. Head there are you’ll
find yourself outside the premises of the castle. After regaining control of
Sumo, head left to the next area. Here, you’ll see Julius and Dark Lord
talking about how to go up the falls and reach the Tree of Mana. Then Julius
will tell Dark Lord that a girl has the key. After that, Julius will
disappear. Dark Lord now notices you. You’ll then automatically run up to a
cliff. Here, Dark Lord will push you down! (Ahhh! How did Sumo survive?) After
falling, you’ll regain control of Sumo again, but now you are in the World
Map.

=====
WORLD
=====

For a World Map, I created a quick reference at the maps section. Check it
out. You can also check it out if you get lost. Back to the walkthrough. From
your starting point, head right to the next screen. After that, head right
again to the next screen. From here, go south. After that, so south once more.
In this area, the only way is to the right. So, go right to the next area.
From here, go right again. In this area, you’ll see a girl and a wounded boy
seeking for help. Defeat ALL monsters in this screen only. After defeating
every monster (the clue is that there will be no more music), talk to the
wounded boy. His name is Hasim. He will also tell you to take the girl with
you to Bogard (the same man Willy spoke of). After that, Hasim will pass away.
You will then offer the girl to come with you to see Bogard. The girl will
join you. She is the Heroine in the game, Fuji. At this point, you finally
have an NPC (non-playable character) with you. You can now ask her if your HP
is low and she will gradually heal you. After taking her along, go back to the
screen to the left. After that, go up to the screen to the north. Here, you’ll
find the entrance to the Town of Topple which is to the north. If you got lost
somehow, the entrance to Topple is located on coordinates 8I in my world map
at the Maps section.

======
TOPPLE
======

This is quite a small village. Upon entering the Village, you’ll see the Inn
right away. You can rest here for 10GP. Afterwards, head next screen to the
left. Then, go north to another screen. You’ll find the Item and Weapon Shops
here. You can buy a more powerful helmet here. It costs 140 GPs. If you don’t
have enough, I suggest that you leave the town first, beat some enemies, and
come back with 140 GPs. After buying the helmet, sell your Bronze ones. After
that, go inside the Item Shop and buy 2 Sets of Keys (each set contains 4) for
30 GPs. After doing these, leave Topple.

=====
WORLD
=====

From here, we will now go to Bogard. First, go right to the next screen. Then,
to the screen to the right. Then, go south. Then, go right. After that, go up.
Then, left. Here, cross the bridge and head left. Then, go up. Cross again
another bridge then head left. Here, cross the bridge and climb the vine to
the north. Here, there are 2 ladders. Climb the left one and head left to the
next screen. Here, there are 3 vines wherein you can’t reach the leftmost one.
Climb UP the nearest vine to reach the north screen. Here, just go around the
vines to reach the vine on the lower left of the Screen then climb down it.
You’ll be in a familiar screen. From here, head left to the next screen. Then,
continue up the vine until you reach a small house. Enter it. In case you are
lost, refer to the map. The house is in coordinates 5G.

==============
BOGARD’S HOUSE
==============
Item:
 Mattock

Upon entering, you’ll see an old man to the left. If you talk to him, he will
just walk away from you. But on the third time, he will notice the pendant of
Fuji. Then, he will finally reveal himself as Bogard. He will talk about what
happened years ago when a woman, who wore the pendant, gave the Gemma knights
hope and was finally able to beat Vandole. After that, he will tell you go get
the Mattock in the north room. After that, he will tell you that you must use
the mattock in the caves to the east and meet a man named Cibba at the town of
Wendel. When the door opens, go in and take the Mattock. Now, leave Bogard’s
house by going 2 screens to the south.

=====
WORLD
=====

From Bogard’s house, move one screen to the south. Then, one screen to the
right. Then, one screen north. Here, go around and then south one screen.
Then, right 2 screens. Here, climb down the vine and enter the cave. If you
got lost somehow, check the coordinates 6J on the map.

=============================
CAVE (East of Bogard’s House)
=============================

upon entering, equip the Mattock that Bogard gave you. Then, stand in front of
the Rocks that block the path to the south. Press the B Button to remove them.
Go south to the next screen. Then go south once more. Here, use the ladders at
the bottom right of the screen to exit to the world map.

=====
WORLD
=====

Once in the world map, head left two screens. Then, south one screen. And
then, right one screen. Here, you’ll find a general store. You can buy a
Battle Axe for 150 GPs. If you don’t have enough GP, kill enemies and then
come back and buy it. I really advise it. After buying the axe, leave the
shop. Outside the shop, head left one screen. You’ll now be in the Marshes
area.

WORLD (Marshes)

You’ll find new enemies here. Now, head south two screens. And then, head left
three screens. You’ll arrive at the entrance of Kett’s, and then enter it. If
you got lost somehow, check coordinates 10K at the World Map in my map
section.

KETT’S

Magic:
 Cure

Inside, when you talk to the man, he will tell you that you must take the
western room because the other rooms are occupied and that the door behind him
is for Mr. Lee. After talking to the man, you can go up to the room on the
north and talk to people here. After you talked to them, or not, from the
screen where the man you first talked to, head west one screen. Then north one
screen. Here, sleep on the bed by walking to it. You’ll automatically sleep.
During the night, you’ll have a short scene with Fuji. She will now let you
read the Magic book of Cure! Then you’ll automatically learn your first magic,
Cure! :) After receiving the magic, you’ll continue to sleep. During the
night, you’ll notice someone talks about his/her new victim. When you finally
wake up, Fuji is gone! She was kidnapped! Now, talk to the man guarding the
door to Mr. Lee. He will deny any knowledge about Fuji. Now, leave Kett’s.

===============
WORLD (Marshes)

Item:
 Bronze Key

From the entrance of Kett’s, go right 3 screens. Then, go south. You’ll see
Crocs here. If you talked to the person at Kett’s (in the north room), this is
the Lizardmen he is talking about. Now, defeat ALL of the Lizardmen in this
screen. After doing that, a chest will appear in the middle. Examine it and
you’ll get the Bronze Key. Now, head back north 1 screen. You’ll see a door.
Equip your Bronze Key and go in the door.

=============
CAVE OF MARSH
=============
Item:
 Mirror
Equipment:
 Sickle
 Iron Shield
Magic:
 Fire

Upon entering, you’ll see a man. Talk to him and he will tell you that a lot
of girls disappeared at Kett’s. He will offer you his help. Accept his help.
After joining, head north first. And then, to the left one screen. Here, step
on the switch at the bottom of the screen. A ladder leading down will show up
at the top left of the screen. Go down the ladder. In this new screen, you’ll
see the door where you came in and a door at the bottom. Now, move one screen
to the right. Climb down the vine to be able to reach the bottom door in the
screen to the left. Go in. Here, go right one screen. Now, if you strike the
bottom center wall, you’ll here a cranking sound. Use your mattock to destroy
the wall and reveal a new path. Now, go down south to the next screen. In
here, get the chest that you see in the middle of the screen. You’ll receive
the Sickle. You can go back as the floor will pull you back in. So, equip the
sickle and hack away the herbs. You can now leave the room. Now, return back
to the first room (where you first saw the man). Now, head south one screen.
Here, the left wall can be destroyed. Use your mattock to destroy it then head
left one screen. Here, there is a door to the north. Use a key (if you have at
least 4 of them) and enter the door. You’ll see a chest in the middle. Push
the chest into the switch on the lower left. A ladder going down will appear
at the upper right. Climb that ladder. You’ll reach a small pond. If you walk
below it, your HP and MP will be restored completely. Let’s call it the
Recovery Pond. Now, head back up the ladder and then move one screen to the
south. And then, head left two screens. From here, go up one screen. You’ll
see a door to the right which is locked. Use your key and then enter it.
Inside, you’ll be automatically locked in. Defeat all enemies on the screen
and a chest will appear. It contains an Iron Shield. After getting the shield,
go back one screen and then go up one screen. In here, go right one screen.
You’ll see a big rock at the upper right corner. Use your mattock to destroy
it and it will reveal a ladder leading down. Here, go south one screen (go
around the vines). And then, go left one screen and enter the doorway that you
will see. In this new area, head left one screen then south one screen. You’ll
see a locked door to the right. Use the key and enter that door. Here you’ll
see a very simple puzzle. Let’s call those clear square floors as “panels” for
the sake of this walkthrough. Now, walk on the topmost panel to reach the
upper switch. Now, use your mattock to break the rocks. After that, break the
lower set of rocks to reach the lower floor switch. Upon switching both floor
switches, a ladder leading down will appear on the lower right corner. Go down
the ladder. Now, prepare yourself for a REAL boss. After preparation, head
right to the next screen. You’ll meet...

BOSS: 2-HEADED DRAGON
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         10
GP:                 95
Attacks:            Fireballs
Preferred Weapon:   Sickle

This battle will be hard, if you don’t know what to do. The only way to damage
it is to hit it in the head. The best strategy here is to use the sickle and
always stay below the hydra. Doing this, when the hydra comes forward, you can
hit it with the sickle away from the path of the fireballs. After a few hits,
it will go down.

If you are cornered, and you have the Iron Shield, you can just stand in front
of the fireballs (facing their direction) and the shield will negate it. In
simpler terms, you can block the fireballs. Of course, you can’t block the
head of the Dragon when it comes near you.
#############################################################################

After the fight, you’ll see 2 chests appear in the middle. The first chest
contains your second magic, Fire. After getting the chest, hack it away and
get the second chest for the Mirror. The man will tell you to show it to the
guy at Kett’s. After that, the man will leave and you’ll be taken
automatically to the world map. Head to Kett’s right away. Make sure to
prepare your character again.

Equipment:
 Chain Flail
Magic:
 Sleep

Now, Equip your mirror. It’s in the items inventory. And then, talk to the
man. It will go berserk and will change into a wolf man. Just use your sickle
to push it away from you at the same time damaging it. I’d like to point out
that this enemy is not a boss (you’ll know why later). After beating this
enemy, you can now enter the room to the right. So, go right two screens.
Then, go up one screen. And then, to the left one screen. In this room, use
the ladder that is going up. Now, go south one screen. Here, you’ll see 6
blocks. If you attack the right wall, you’ll hear a clink. Blast that wall
with your Mattock. After blasting away the wall, head right to the next
screen. And then, go up one screen. And then, to the right one screen and to
the south two screens. Here, go left one screen. In this room, break the jar
to reach the switch in the middle. Step on it and a ladder leading down will
appear in the lower right. Go down that ladder. Here, go around the spikes and
go right one screen. Next, go up one screen. Here, use a key to open the north
door and go through it. Now, you’ll see a chest. Get it for the Chain Flail!
You will be trapped, but to no avail, use your new Chain Flail on the pole to
the right. You’ll be able to get out. Now, go around and step on the switch to
remove the block. Go back to where you broke the Jar in order to step on the
middle switch. Now, use the Ladder Going up on the upper right corner of the
room. Now, go left and use your Chain Flail to cross the gap. Move on to the
left and climb down the ladder at the end. And then, head left one screen and
then up one screen. Here, there’s a gap on the floor. First of all, you MUST
wait until your will power to fill up. Then, use the chain on the pole on the
other side. You’ll never reach it when using normal chain attacks. If you fell
down the gap, head north and climb the ladder on the upper right. In the next
area, head down south. You’ll be in the room where the gap is. From here, head
right two screens and then up one screen. Next, left one screen. Here, push
the chest onto the switch. A ladder will appear on the upper right. Use the
ladder to go down. Here, use a Mattock and destroy the jar on the lower right.
Go down the newly revealed ladder. Here, go around the fence and to the right
one screen. Here, use a Key to open the south door then go in. There are
caskets here. Go to the 2nd from the right casket on the lowest row. You’ll
now get Fuji back. Now, head all the way back to the very beginning (where you
showed the mirror to the man who turned into a monster).

If, however, you got lost, here’s the instruction on how to get back. From the
caskets, head up one room then left one room. Use the ladder. In the new room,
use the top right ladder. And then, one to the right, one down, one to the
left, and then one down again. Here, use the ladder. Next, go right and cross
the gap. Climb down the ladders at the end. Next, go right one screen and then
go north 2 screens. And then, one screen to the left then one screen to the
south. After that, head left one screen then north one screen. Use the ladder
here. Next, walk around the fence and go right one screen. Now, head south one
screen then left one screen. Here, prepare your character for a boss battle.
After preparing, head to the next screen to the left. You’ll now fight Mr.
Lee.

BOSS: MR. LEE
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         21
GP:                 11
Attacks:            Bats
Preferred Weapon:   Chain
Spoils:             Magic Book of Sleep (Slep Magic)

This battle isn’t hard at all, especially with the Chain flail at your
disposal. You notice that the Vampire (Mr. Lee), will move to 4 locations on
the screen. Check the diagram below (He’ll move to one of those check marks):

-------
  x
x     x
  x
-------

His attacks are plain and simple. Once he stops moving, he’ll open his cape
and bats will come right after you. You can block the bats with your shield
though.

To attack him, target his body not his wings :) If you’re far enough from him,
you can also attack the bats at the same time damaging him. Trust me, he’s
easy.
#############################################################################

After beating Mr. Lee and gaining the Magic Book of Sleep, after a very short
conversation between Fuji and Sumo, you’ll be taken automatically outside of
Kett’s. It’s now time to head to Wendel.

From Kett’s, head right 3 screens and then south one screen. You’ll be at the
LizardMen’s Nest. Now, head left one screen. Equip your Sickle and hack away
the Herbs. After that, head south one screen. Next, head left one screen and
then north one screen. Climb up the ladder and use your Chain to cross the
Gap. Now head south one screen. You’ll notice that you are now in the other
side of the river. Now, head right one screen. Then, south two screens.
Finally, head right one screen. Enter the town of Wendel, which is to the
north.

In Wendel, you might want to upgrade your equipments here if you don’t have a
complete Iron Set (helmet, armor, shield). You can also buy Mattocks and Keys
from the item shop. After that, head to Cibba’s place. In here, just continue
moving north until you see Cibba. After you meet him, an automatic scene will
take place. Cibba will show something to you. You’ll see the real mother of
Fuji. Also, you’ll now know that Fuji is a member of the Mana Family. Her
mother sealed the waterfalls that lead to the Mana Tree with the pendant Fuji
is wearing. After that, something wrong will happen. The man who helped you
before will come in and tells you that Glaive is attacking! Then, you’ll be
taken automatically just outside Cibba’s place. If you talk to the wounded
man, he’ll tell you that the man who just passed by attacked him. Quickly,
head outside of Wendel. Don’t worry about the enemies, they’re pathetic.
Outside, you’ll see a horrible sight. The man who helped you out in the Cave
of Marsh turns out to be Julius himself. He saw what happened inside and
finally kidnapped Fuji. You can’t do anything as he is very strong. He’ll beat
you up and then he’ll leave. Then, you’ll wake up at Cibba’s Room. Cibba will
tell you that Julius took her to his Airship to the west. Then, he’ll give you
the Magic Book of Heal. After that, leave Wendel right away.

Items:

Upon entrance, you’ll see a small cart to the left. First, equip the Oil that
you bought a while ago. Now, follow my instructions carefully. This might get
very confusing and even frustrating. If you’re ready, equip your Sickle and go
to the cart. It will then move along the tracks automatically.

After boarding the cart, it will go left two screens. Here, there’s a switch,
but don’t do anything to it. The cart will then continue to the left for
another two screen. And then, it’ll go down south one screen. Now, Press and
Hold Up + Right on the Directional Pad. The cart will now go one screen to the
right. As the screen, changes, press the Attack button like crazy! This will
enable you to activate the switch. After successfully activating the switch,
press and hold Down + Right on the directional pad. The cart will now go south
one screen. Like before, just as the screen changes, press the Attack button
like crazy while holding the Down+Right on the Directional Pad. This will
activate another switch. After successfully activating the switch, the cart
will go left two screens. It will hit a rock and you’ll fall down a dark hole.
If you however, missed the switches, don’t worry, the cart will go back to
that place again.

After falling down the hole, you’ll see Watts. He’ll join you as an NPC to
guide you through the cave. Remember that when you’re low on supplies, you can
ASK Watts and he’ll let you shop for items.

Let’s move on. From where you saw Watts, head north one screen, and then to
the right one screen. In here, there are passages to the right (a breakable
wall) and to the south. Let’s head south first.

Use your Mattock to break the rocks then move on south to the next screen.
Here’s you’ll see a recovery spring. After healing, head back to the north one
screen and then, break the wall to the right and go right one screen. Here,
there are 2 jars and slippery floors. Break the right jar, step on the switch
and slide to the right towards the ladder leading down. Here, go left two
screens. And then, go up the entrance. In this new area, head left one screen.
And then, north one screen. Use the ladder leading up. In this area, head one
screen to the left. Now, use the ladder leading down. Now, you’ll see a ladder

EXP gained:         48
GP:                 161
Attacks:            Surprise!
Preferred Weapon:   Chain

This battle will be fairly easy. Just remember the pattern it does. It will
move in a S formation. Always remember that it can only be damaged by hitting
it’s head. Any attack to the body is null. He has only one attack (which I
think is intentionally created by Square). After you beat him, as with most of
the bosses, it’s body will explode. The explosion can hurt your character. The
Magapede, due to its size, especially its length, will scatter the explosion
in a very wide area so, right after you hear the explosion of the monster,
quickly move away from it! Take note that the head will follow you after you
kill it :)
#############################################################################

After beating the Megapede, get the Silver from the chest. Then, you’ll be
automatically taken outside the Mine. Here, Watts will take care of the
Silver. He’ll tell you that he will forge some armors and sword using the
Silver so that you can equip it and be able to enter Gaia. Watts will now exit
to the right.

=====
WORLD
=====

Now, equip your Battle Axe again and then go right one screen. Hack away the
trees again and then go south two screen. Next, go south one screen (do not
use your chain to go to the other side). Here, you’ll see the entrance to the
Dwarf Cave. Enter it.

==========
DWARF CAVE
==========

In here, you’ll see quite a number of dwarves. So where’s Watts? From the
entrance, go south one screen. Watts will be there sitting on a chair. Talk to
him. He will sell you an Armor, Shield and the Sword made from the Silver.
After buying and equipping, head north one screen and use the ladder to exit
the Dwarf Cave.

=====
WORLD
=====

From the Dwarf Cave, head north two screens. Next, head left one screen and
then to the north, one screen. You’ll see a cave which looks like a big mouth
with 2 eyes. Enter it now. Remember that you MUST equip any Silver equipment
in order to enter Gaia. One Silver Equipment is enough.

====
GAIA
====

Upon entrance, head left one screen and then south one screen. As you go
south, you’ll step on an invisible switch that closes the south door. Here’s
what you must do. Go south to the door. It will be closed right? Now, go north
slowly and you’ll be able to touch the switch once again which opens the door.
Once the door is open, head south one screen. Here, use the ladder to exit to
the world map.

Upon leaving Gaia, Bogard will come in and joins you as a NPC. If you ask him,
he’ll just tell you how to use the MAX Attack. Now, go south one screen. Here,
equip your axe. Destroy the trees. Follow the diagram.

After cutting the trees, head left one screen. Then, go north two screens.
Here, you’ll find a small house. It’s an Inn. After resting, if necessary,
equip your Axe and hack the trees to the left and go left to the next screen.
Here, cross the wooden bridge and then, go left one screen. Next, go north one
screen. Here, cross a wooden bridge again and then enter the house. This is a
general store. You can buy the Silver Helmet here. After buying it, leave the
shop. From the shop, head right two screens. And then, go up one screen. Equip
your Axe and hack the trees to the right. And then, go right one screen. Now,
equip your Chain. Go to the edge and wait for the Will Bar to fill up. If it’s
full, use it on the pole on the other side. Note that you can only reach it
with a Maxed Chain. After successfully bringing yourself on the other side, go
north one screen. And then, go right one screen. Here, use your chain on the
pole on the top platform. After going up the platform, go left one screen.
Here, go left. Go down the vines and you’ll notice 2 paths to the left. Take
the lower left path. In here, cross a gap once more and then go south one
screen. And then, go left one screen. Finally, continue moving north until you
reach the Airship.

================
GLAIVE’S AIRSHIP
================

Upon entering, continue moving up the big chain to the next screen. Here,
you’ll see 3 paths. Two to the north and one to the right. Use the upper left
path to the next screen. Next, go left one screen. And then, go south one
screen. Here, go inside the door that you’ll see. Inside, go left three
screen. And then, go up one screen. Next, go right to the next screen. Climb
the ladder here which is leading down. In this new area, go left one screen
and then go south one screen. Here, kill all the werewolves on the left side
first. After killing all of them, step on the switch on the upper right. This
will open the fence on the left side. Now, step on the upper left switch. A
ladder will appear. Use it to go down to the next area. Here, go left two
screens. Now, equip a key and use it on the south door and then enter the
room. You’ll see Fuji inside. Go to the fence and you’ll talk to her. You’ll
hear that the Airship is ready to leave. You will now have a plan to save
Fuji. The window. So, after talking to Fuji, leave the room. Before you leave,
Bogard will stay behind to watch over Fuji while you find your way to the
window outside.

Now, go all the way to the north until you enter the room with a bed. Use it
to regain all your HPs and MPs. After that, go south one screen. And then, go
right two screens. Use the ladder. You’ll be back to the place where you
killed the werewolves. Now, go north one screen and then left one screen. Use
the ladders here. When you reach the next area, go south one screen and then
go left two screens. Next, go south one screen. And then, go left one screen.
Here, use the ladders. When you reach the next area, go north two screens and
then use the ladder that you’ll see. Next, go north and use the other set of
ladders. You’ll now be back on the deck of the airship. Now, go right one
screen. Here, you’ll see two paths to the north. Take the upper left path.
Next, go left two screens. And then, go south one screen. Next, go right one
screen. Beware of the werewolves here! Kill them all and then continue down
the ladder to the next screen. Now, go all the way to the right and you’ll see
Fuji on the window. But, Julius will come in and blasts you! You will try to
hang on but to no avail, you will still fall down.

=====
MENOS
=====

You’ll fall on one of the houses in Menos. Then, you’ll see that it is
Amanda’s house. If you do not remember, Amanda was the girl you saw in the
very beginning of the game (Right after Willy passed away). Then, you’ll see
Amanda take away the pendant. When you wake up, Sumo will notice that the
pendant is gone. When you regain control of Sumo, leave the house. There’s a
stronger weapon here in Menos. From the house of Amanda, the Weapon Shop is to
the left. If you want items, it is one screen to the right from Amanda’s
House. After buying items and equipments, leave Menos.

=====
WORLD
=====

From Menos, go south two screen. Here, you can either cross the bridge to the
right or go left to the other screen. Let’s get an important character first.
So, cross the bridge to the right and go north one screen. Here, just go to
the right one screen. Cross the bridge and go north two screens. Next, go left
one screen and then north two screens. And then, go right one screen. You’ll
notice that this is where you fell at the beginning of the game. Now, go south
one screen and then one screen to the right. Here, equip your chain and cross
the gap. Examine the egg and it will hatch. It’s a Chocobo! It will follow you
because it thinks that you are its mother. You now have a New NPC, the
Chocobo! If you ASK, it will give you a ride. You’ll be much faster and safer
because enemies cannot harm you if you are on a chocobo.

Now, let’s head back to the first bridge you saw after leaving Menos. For
directions, here it is: from the Chocobo’s place, use the chain to cross the
gap. Go left to the next screen. Go up one screen, then left one screen, and
then south two screens. Next, go right one screen and then to the south two
screens. Now, go left one screen and then south one screen. Here, cross the
bridge and go left one screen. If you go up, you’ll be back at Menos. In this
new area, go left one screen. Next, go north two screens. And then, go left
one screen, then north one screen. Enter the town of Jadd. Don’t worry about
your chocobo it won’t run.

====
JADD
====

Upon entering, you’ll notice that the whole town is quiet. It’s because a
certain Davias rules the town. First of all, let’s head for the weapon shop as
there are powerful versions of equipments here, the Gold Equipments. From the
entrance, go north one screen. You’ll see the Weapon Shop beside the Inn. You
can rest in the Inn if you want. After that, go to the Weapon Shop and buy
Gold equipments. This will protect you from the enemies in this area. For the
items, from the Weapon Shop, go right one screen. You’ll see the Item Shop
Here. Now, if you talk to the kid, it will give you a hint on how to open the
Cave of Oasis. You must give him Fangs though. You can get fangs from the
Gecko’s living in the desert. It’s very rarely though, that they drop these
item. If you got Fangs, and talked to him, he will say “Palms trees and an 8”.
After buying and equipping your character, leave Jadd.

=====
WORLD
=====

In the world map, talk to your Chocobo Immediately. If you did not talk to it,
it will not join you again. So, choose to take your chocobo. Now, let’s head
for the Cave of Oasis. From Jadd, go south one screen. And then, go right one
screen. Then, go south two screens. You’ll see the Gecko here. If you beat it,
you might be lucky enough to get a Fang. If you got one, bring it back to the
kid near the Item Shop in Jadd. It will give you the clue to the Cave of
Oasis. Let’s move on. From the place with the Gecko, go left one screen. And
then go south one screen. Here’s another place with Geckos. Now, go right one
screen. You see a lot of palms trees right? It’s because the cave of Oasis,
also known as the Cave of Medusa. Now, let’s talk about the clue of the Kid.
Palm trees and an 8. Hmm... There are 2 trees here. What should you do? It’s
easy. Take a look at the diagram.

 xxxxx
 xTxTx
 xxxxx

The 2 Ts represent the 2 trees in the middle. The x’s is the pattern you
should walk. See, it’s an 8. Walk around the trees making a pattern like an
8,just as in the diagram. If done correctly, the Cave of Medusa will now open.
So, go inside the Cave.

CAVE OF MEDUSA

Magic:
 Magic Book of Ice

Upon entering, you’ll see Amanda. Sumo will ask Amanda why she took the
pendant. Amanda took it so that he could give it to Davias and free her
brother from Davias’ Curse. And then, Amanda will now join you as a NPC. Now,
head south one screen. In here, equip your Mattock and destroy the wall in the
south wall. Then, go south one screen. And then, head left two screen then go
south one screen. Next, head left two screens. Now, go up one screen. If you
open the door to the left, you can see a recovery spring inside. After using
it, if necessary, go back and go north two screen. Now, go left one screen and
then go south one screen. You’ll get a Gold Armor. Now, go back up one screen
and then one screen to the right. Here, continue moving by going up one
screen. Here, equip your chain. Then, go to the slippery floor which is at the
very bottom. You’ll be taken to the switch which will open the right door.
Now, use your chain at the pole at once, then go right one screen through the
newly opened door. Here, you’ll receive the Magic Book of Ice.

After receiving the Ice Magic, go left one screen. And then, go south four
screens. Here, go right one screen. Equip your Mattock and destroy the wall to
the north. Then, go up one screen. Here, you’ll see a snowman. Push the
snowman by going behind it and pressing the directional pad. Push it to the
north past the slippery floors. Now, push it to the switch on the upper left.
Once there, the door to the north will open. If you somehow destroyed the
Snowman, just leave the room and go back in. A new snowman should be there.
After opening the door, go up one screen. Here, you’ll see another switch, but
there are no snowmen around except for spiders. Now, use your newly gained Ice
Magic on one of the spiders. It will turn into a snowman! Take note that YOU
CAN CONTROL the ice as it travels! But you cannot stop it from moving. If it
hits a wall it’s gone. Let’s continue. After turning one of the spiders into a
snowman, push it to the switch. The north door will now open. So, go north one
screen. Here, use the ladder.

In this new area, go north one screen. Then, use the ladder on top. Now,
prepare your character for a boss! After preparing, go left one screen.

BOSS: MEDUSA
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         92
GP:                 70
Attacks:            Snakes
Preferred Weapon:   Chain

This battle will be at an average difficulty. I recommend using the chain as
it has a very long range and attack rate. To defeat Medusa, you have to hit
her head as many times as you could. Amanda will also give you support by
throwing daggers (not accurate though). She only has 1 attack. She will throw
snakes at you! Try to avoid these as they can inflict the Ston status. Don’t
worry though. If you got Stoned, just ask amanda and she’ll heal you. So, just
try to be quick while avoiding the snakes and Medusa herself, then attack her
head as fast as you can.

Also, if you have the Gold shield equipped, it can block the snakes which
Medusa throws at you.
#############################################################################

After beating Medusa, she will not cry therefore you cannot get the Tears of
Medusa to uncurse Amanda’s Brother. As you leave, Amanda will fell something.
She was bitten by Medusa while you were fighting. Anyone who is bitten by
Medusa will also turn into a Medusa. Amanda will turn into a Medusa anytime
now. But before she loses her mind, she will tell you to get a tear from her,
because she is now a Medusa and can uncurse her brother, and then kill her
afterwards so that she can’t hurt people. When you regain control of Sumo,
kill Amanda (you can’t move on to the story if you don’t do this). After
killing her, go to her and you’ll get the Tears of Amanda. Then, you’ll
automatically be taken outside to the world map.

Now, take your chocobo and head back to Jadd. For the directions, here it is.
First go left one screen, then go north two screens, then go right one screen.
Next, go north one screen, then go left one screen, and finally, go north one
screen and enter the town of Jadd.

====
JADD
====

After the battle with Medusa, your HP and MP might be low. So, head to the Inn
which is one screen to the north from the entrance. After healing yourself, go
the BIG house on the upper leftmost part of Jadd. Enter the Mansion of Davias.

===============
DAVIAS’ MANSION
===============
Magic:
 Mute
Weapon:
 Were Axe

Inside, go up the set of ladders on the top right corner. Next, go left two
screens. Now, you’ll see a parrot here. It is Amanda’s Brother. So, equip
Amanda’s Tear and examine the parrot. Lester will now be freed from Davias’
Curse. He will now join you to avenge Amanda as a NPC. If you ask Lester, he
will change the music for you. Let’s move on. Use the ladder which appeared.

In this new area, go right two screens. Here, equip your Mattock and then
destroy the wall to the north. And then, go north two screens. And then, head
left one screen then south one screen. Here, just step on the slippery panel
in a counter clockwise direction and use the ladders. In this new area, go
left four screens. At the end, you’ll see a lot of floor panels. The key here
is to step on the panels in order. Here’s the diagram for you.

43       Legend: the numbers are the order of the panels you should follow.

Doing this, a ladder will appear and you can go to the next area. Now, in this
new area, go up one screen and then go left one screen. Now, go ALL THE WAY
SOUTH until you can’t go south anymore. You’ll also see a door to your right
which doesn’t open. You must step on the switch to open the door. So, in
short, use your Ice Magic on one of the enemies and push the snowman onto the
switch. Once the door is open, go in. The door will automatically lock. Defeat
all the enemies and you’ll get the Were Axe. Now, go left one screen. And
then, go up two screens. Here, equip your Mattock and break the wall to the
right. And then, go right one screen and then go south one screen. Here, use
the ladder. Now, in this new area, go north one screen. Use the ladders that
you’ll see here. Now, prepare your character again as a tough battle lies
ahead of you.

BOSS: DAVIAS
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         100
GP:                 103
Attacks:            FireBalls
Preferred Weapon:   Chain

He will be very hard if you don’t know what to do. First, I suggest you use
the Chain Flail again. It has a very good range and you can hit Davias with
ease. Be careful of his Fireballs at it will go STRAIGHT AT YOU so dodge them.
Also, do not touch the fireball that are protecting Davias. These will give a
lot of damage to you.

Tip: You can use your weapon to attack the Fireballs (excluding the fireballs
around Davias)
#############################################################################

After beating him, you’ll find out that the pendant is no longer with him.
Garuda flew together with the pendant to Glaive. Then, Davias will die. After
that, you’ll be taken automatically to Jadd. Here, Lester will stay to play
Requiem for his sister. You’ll now be heading for Glaive! Lester’s tune will
remove the poison gas to the north (if you went there earlier). Before
leaving, Lester will give you the Magic book of Mute. Now, heal your character
at the Inn and then leave Jadd.

=====

Outside, get your chocobo. We’ll now be heading for Glaive! You can ride the
chocobo to reach there fast or just walk there to gain experience. From the
entrance of Jadd, go south one screen. And then, go right one screen then up
one screen. Next, go right one screen. Next, go up two screens. And then, go
right one screen.

Next, go north two screens. Next, go right one screen. Here, climb up the
ladder to the next screen. Here, you can go right one screen or climb down 2
vines. First, go down the right most vine. At the very bottom, you’ll see a
Magic Shop. Buy some if you want and then go back up the vines. Next, go left
one screen. Here, go inside the Cave.

=================
CAVE OF MT. ROCKS

Inside, go left one screen and then go north one screen. Next, go left two
screens. And then, head south one screen. Here, prepare your character for
another boss. If you’re ready, go left one screen and fight...

BOSS: METAL CRAB
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         107
GP:                 101
Attacks:            None
Preferred Weapon:   Wind Spear

This will be very easy. Just stay in the middle and always walk to the
opposite of where the Metal Crab is going. This way, when he moves up or down,
you won’t get hurt. To damage it, you must hit its mouth so the Wind Spear is
the ideal weapon for this.

Note: Watch out every time the Metal Crab is in the center. It may or may not
move down or up.
#############################################################################

After beating the Metal Crab, a ladder will appear on the lower left. So, use
that ladder. In this new area, head left three screens and use the ladder at
the end. You’ll find yourself in the World Map again.

=====
WORLD
=====

Here, go left one screen and then to the south one screen. Next, go right one
screen. Now, go south four screens. Here, you’ll see an enemy that looks like
a robot. If you accidentally touched it, it may inflict the Moogle condition
at you. During this time, your defense will drop to 0 and you will receive a
very large amount of damage from enemies. Now, from here, go right one screen.
Use the Recovery Spring at your leisure. After that, head back to the left one
screen. Then, go north one screen (note: use the upper right path. The Upper
left ones will bring you back where you came from). Next, go right one screen.
Now, go up one screen and then go right one screen. In here, you’ll see 2
ladders going up.

Go up the right ladder first. Move on until you see the Weapon Shop. If you
have the money, go and buy the Opal Equipments. They are very strong in
defense compared to the Gold ones. If you don’t have enough money, just beat
the enemies around you until you are able to buy the equipments. After buying
the equipments, leave the shop and go all the way down and use the other
ladder to the left.

Now, go all the way up and when you can’t go any further, go left one screen.
Here, equip your axe. Now here’s the diagram again for the trees you must cut
in order to move on.

   ttttt     Legend:
xxxxxtttt     1 – Where you came from
   x         2 – Your Destination
x   1     x – you can cut these trees to reach location 2

Upon reaching location 2, go right one screen. Here, just cut the tree that
blocks your way and go north two screens. Next, head right one screen. Then,
go south two screens, hacking through the trees. It’s easy. And then, go right
one screen. Here, go up the ladders and enter the cave opening above.

MT. ROCKS

Weapon:
 Morning Star!
Magic:
 Lit (Lightning)

This level isn’t confusing at all, if you know what to do :) Now, from your
starting point, go up one screen and then go right two screens. If you
returned to the left, you’ll be back at the starting point so follow my
instructions carefully. Now, at the end, Equip your mattock and break the
north wall then go up one screen. Next, go left one screen. In here, you have
to put all 4 treasure chests on the 4 tiles on the ground. If you accidentally
destroyed a chest, leave the room and come back again. After placing the 4
chests the door to the north won’t open right? To open the door, just attack
one of the 4 chests and the door will open (I don’t know why it should be this
way). After opening the door, go north one screen. Now, go right one screen.
Here, use a key, open the door to the right and then continue moving right
until you can’t go right anymore. Here, go south three screens.

Next, go right two screens. Here, use the ladder at the end. Now, prepare your
character for another boss. If you’re ready, go right one screen and then
fight!

BOSS: CYCLOPS
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         70
GP:                 64
Attacks:            Morning Star Lounging Attacks
Preferred Weapon:   Chain

Basically, he is very easy. Just stay above or below him and keep on attacking
him. Just make sure that you are out of the way of his attacks. He will only
attack horizontally which will be very predictable. Sometimes though, he will
attack twice in a row. But, there are no other problems that you should worry
about.
#############################################################################

After beating the Cyclops, you’ll see a chest appear in the middle. It’s the
dreaded Morning Star! Now you can kill most of the enemies with this weapon!
You can also dump or sell your Mattocks as the Morning Star can destroy walls.
You can also destroy rocks that block your way. After getting it, equip it
right away. Now, go to the left one screen and use the ladder. And then, go
all the way to the left until you reach the starting point in the game (The
ladder and the 3 rocks).  Don’t worry, trust me, just keep on going LEFT. When
you reach the entrance, go north one screen. Here, use the key to open the
north door. Now, prepare your character again for another boss. Equip your
Morning Star. If you’re ready go north one screen and meet...

BOSS: GOLEM
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         98
GP:                 173
Attacks:            Charging Attack from different directions
Preferred Weapon:   Morning Star Only!

This boss is an average enemy. YOU MUST USE THE MORNING STAR in this battle.
It has only one kind of attack in which it charges its body vertically. It
will be walking on the top portion of the room and may or may not charge when
it reaches the left corner, the middle, or the right corner. It can attack
diagonally also. Basically, you can’t predict where it will attack but if you
get damaged heal quickly as its charge attacks deal quite a big amount of
damage.
#############################################################################

After beating Golem, you will receive the Magic book of Lightning (lit). Now,
go north one screen and use the ladders here. You’ll now find yourself
outside. In here, go to the bridge and go right one screen. When you enter the
cave, you’ll see the bridge collapse. You can’t go back anymore. Then, the
screen fades. Now, you’ll be on a very familiar place. The waterfall at Castle
Glaive!

=============
GLAIVE CASTLE
=============

From the waterfall, go right two screens. The castle gate is now open so go
inside. Inside, go left one screen. Equip your Axe and hack the trees to the
left. And then, go left one screen. Next, go up one screen and enter the door
at the end. You’ll now find yourself inside the Castle itself.

Inside, Cross the 2 bridges and then go north one screen. Next, cross the
bridge and go right one screen. In here, cross the bridge and go right one
screen. Next, cross the left bridge and then go right one screen. In this
screen, just cross the bridge again and use the ladder in the corner.

In this new area, just climb all the way up the vines and use the ladder at
the end. In the next screen, use the ladder that you’ll see on the right
corner. Now, go down the ladder. Prepare your character again for another
boss. If you’re ready, go left and meet...

BOSS: CHIMERA
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         20
GP:                 91
Attacks:            Zigzag Charging attack, fireballs
Preferred Weapon:   Morning Star

Beware! Chimera might give you some troubles. It usually stays on top firing
fireballs at you. Sometimes (most frequently), it will charge at you in a
zigzag pattern. During this time, you can either dodge it if your fast enough,
so just stay on the corner and hope that it won’t hit you. The damage is quite
big so prepare to heal Sumo anytime.
#############################################################################

After beating Chimera, use the ladders to the left. You’ll now see Fuji inside
a room. She will tell you that you must get the pendant right away and that
Dark Lord’s room is on the top floor. After talking, use the lower right
ladder. In the next room, use the upper right ladders. You’ll be in a familiar
area (to the left of the vines you climbed up earlier).

Now, you can go 3 ways here. Either go directly to the south, go south using
the ladder, or go left. Let’s call it POINT A. Now, use the ladder first to
the next screen to the south. And then, go left one screen and go inside the
small house. You’ll see someone who sells items. Now is the perfect time to
sell ALL your Mattocks and buy a lot of Keys. 8 Sets is what I recommend.
After buying items, you can rest on any bed to regain all your HP and MP.
After preparing, go back to POINT A. From POINT A, go left three screens. And
then, go south one screen and enter the door at the end.

In this new area, you have to walk over the Spikes in order to move on. After
doing so, have Fuji heal you by asking her. After healing, go up one screen
and then go right one screen. Here, destroy the north wall and then go up one
screen. Next, go left one screen. Here, equip your Chain. Now, use the chain
first on the northern most pole. Now wait until your Will Bar fills up, then
use the chain on the left pole. Now, step on the switch. A ladder will appear
on the lower right corner of the room. Now, wait again until your Will Bar
fills up and then use it on the southern most pole. Now, use the ladder.

In this new area, go north one screen and then go right one screen. Next, go
south two screens. In here go right one screen first. Now, use a Key on the
right door and enter it. You’ll see a bed here where you can rest and restore
your HP and MP. After resting, from here, go all the way to the left until you
see a room filled with Werewolves, 4 chests and a ladder. All you have to do
here is to prevent hitting the 4 chests. If you accidentally hit a chest, the
ladder will disappear, so you have to leave the room and come back again.
Let’s continue. Now, go and use that ladder. In the next room, to right two
screen. Now, use your Morning Star to break the right wall. After that, go
right two screens and north one screen. In here, use the ladder at the corner.
Now, go south one screen. Here, go one screen to the right. In this room,
you’ll have to fight the Knights. After beating all the Knights in this room,
get the chest for the Blood Sword. Now, go back left one screen and then north
one screen. Here, instead of using the ladders, break the north wall and then
go north one screen and then go right one screen and use the ladder.

In this new area, go south one screen. And then go left one screen. In this
room, there are 2 floor switches. You have to use your Ice Magic to turn the
knights into Snowmen. Note that the Black Mages here cannot be turned to
snowmen. If there’s only one knight, leave the room and then come back again
until you see 2 knights. Now, turn them into Snowmen and put them on the 2
switches. After you’ve put the 2 snowmen on the switches, a ladder will appear
on the lower right corner. Now, use that ladder. Here, go left one screen and
then go up one screen and use the ladder in the middle. Next, go north one
screen. You’ll now notice that this is a throne room. In fact, it is Dark
Lord’s Room. Now, I suggest you do a simple level up trick.

The Dark Mages and the Knights give off a fair amount of EXP. So, beat all of
them inside the throne room and then save. And then, reset your Gameboy by
pressing A,B,Start and Select buttons AT THE SAME TIME. Now, load your game
again. Do this pattern until you level up or up to how many times you want. If
you feel you’re ready, from the throne room, go left one screen. Now, prepare
your character and then SAVE the game. You’ll now face Dark Lord!

BOSS: DARK LORD
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         166
GP:                 11
Attacks:            Sword Attacks
Preferred Weapon:   Morning Star

He isn’t as hard as you think. All you have to do is to use your Morning Star.
It will pass through his shield and damage him. The one thing that you must be
aware of is that he has a good AI and can follow you even if you try to run
away from him. You don’t have to worry about his sword attacks. All you have
to do is to stay away from him to prevent him from damaging you when he
touches you.
#############################################################################

After beating Dark Lord, you’ll receive the pendant. But, you’ll notice that
it is fake! So, use the ladder on the lower right corner. In the next room,
you’ll see that Fuji is not here anymore. So, Julius might have done something
to her. After that, you’ll be taken automatically outside the castle. Here,
you’ll see Fuji. You’ll try to call her but she will ignore you. After you’ve
regained control of your character, go all the way to the left to the
waterfalls.

Here, you’ll see that Julius already mesmerized Fuji. Julius will tell you
that he is the only one left from Vandole and he must one again acquire the
power of Mana. Fuji will now reverse the waterfall. In you last desperate
moment to save Fuji, Julius will blast you again and you’ll fall again.

After your fall, you’ll find yourself in the world map, but you cannot move.
Then, the Chocobo will come and pick you up and brings you inside the town of
Ish.

===
ISH
===

When you wake up, you’ll find yourself in the house of Sarah together with,
guess who, Bogard! You’ll immediately stand up and begin hesitating about
what’s happening to you, about being a Gemma knight and about Mana. Then,
Bogard will tell you to shut up and you’ll get out of the house. Now, talk to
Sarah. She will tell you that she believes in you that you are the only hope
in saving the world. Then, she’ll tell you that chocobo is being treated at
Doctor Bowow’s house. Let’s head there first before going to the shops. From
Sarah’s house, go left two screens. Now, enter the house. Right before
entering, you’ll hear some weird sounds coming from the house. Inside, you’ll
see Dr. Bowow and Chocobo. Dr. Bowow will tell you that he mechanized the
Chocobo’s wounded leg and can travel by water! He named it the Chocobot! Then,
Dr. Bowow will tell you also that you are the only hope and that you should
talk to Bogard first before leaving town. So, head back to Sarah’s house and
talk to Bogard. Now, Bogard will tell you that from here onwards, your
adventure will be much more dangerous. You must now endure in the quest for
the Excalibur to be able to defeat Julius. Just like Bogard and co. once did
against Vandole. You should now go and talk to Cibba to know more. Dr. Bowow
knows the direction but let’s ME help you this time. Now, let’s prepare your
character. Leave Sarah’s house and go to the weapon shop. And then, go buy
items at the Item Shop. After that, you’ll also notice that your HP and MP are
still the same just as it was after beating Dark Lord, so head to the Inn and
pay a small amount (10 G) to rest. After resting, from the in, go all the way
to the south until you reach the World Map.

=====
WORLD
=====

Once outside, talk to your new chocobot so that he would join you. Now, follow
my instructions carefully so that you’ll reach Wendel in no time.

From Ish, Go left one screen and then go north two screens. Next, go left two
screen. Here, you’ll see a wooden dock. So, ASK the chocobot to give you a
ride. Now, you can walk on water when you use the dock. Just put your chocobot
on the docks and simply enter the water. When you’re in the water, go north
one screen. Next, go right SEVEN screens and then go up one screen. Use the
docks here and then go north one screen. You’re now exactly at Wendel. Now,
jump off your Chocobot and enter Wendel.

======
WENDEL
======

upon entrance, go north one screen. Here, you’ll see a lady which looks like a
mouse. If you talk to her, she will tell you that Lorim was attacked by many
monsters and Cibba went there! She will also tell you that it is south from
the snowfields. After hearing that, leave Wendel right away. Get your Chocobot
(I won’t remind you again next time, so always remember take your chocobot
after you leave a town or a dungeon.). In the world map, go south one screen
from Wendel and use the docks again. From the docks, head south two screens.
And then, go left four screens. Here, go south one screen. From here, just
move one (the path is pretty straight forward) until you see another dock. Use
than and then go up the ladder up to the next screen. In this screen, a path
to the left is blocked by trees so go right one screen. And then, go south two
screens. Next, go right one screen and then go up the big set of ladders and
enter Lorim.

=====
LORIM
=====

Upon entering the town of Lorim, you’ll notice that the person here is frozen!
It seems someone or something froze the whole place! From the main room, go up
one screen. Here, you’ll see the King. Amazingly, he’s not frozen so talk to
him. He’ll tell you that Julius summoned a monster named Kary and froze the
Town! Now, it’s time to beat that Kary up! So, leave Lorim at once.

=====
WORLD
=====

Now, go back to where you saw a path blocked by trees. Now, use your axe and
hack all the trees here. After hacking all the trees, go north three screens.
This place is very cold and Chocobot cannot join you from here. So, you have
to move on without chocobot. Now, go north one screen. And then, go left one
screen. You’ll see a house here. Enter it. It’s an Item shop so buy all your
item needs here. After buying, if necessary, leave the shop.

From the shop, go right three screens. Next, go south one screen and then go
left one screen and then go south one screen. And then, go right two screens.
Here, you’ll see the entrance to the Cave of snowfields where Kary is. Enter
it.

==================
CAVE OF SNOWFIELDS

Item:
 Elixir

Upon entering, go north two screens (use the left sliding floors on the second
room). On the north room, you’ll see a lot of sliding floors and a snowman.
Now, step on the upper right switch. A sliding floor will appear beneath the
snowman. The snowman will now travel through the sliding floors until in
reaches the end. Now, push it north onto the floor switch. The door on the
right should now be open. So, go right one screen. Now, use your Flame Flail
and swing across. Now, go to the sliding floor to the north of this room. In
the next screen, use your MAXed flame flail on the pole to the left and then
step on the sliding floor on the left. When you reach the next room, you’ll
see that you can go next screen to all 4 different directions. Sliding floors
at the sides, south door and a north door. Go through the north door to the
next screen (don’t forget to use a key). Now, go right one screen. In here,
sliding floors block your way. You pass through only at the sliding floor
which is second from the bottom of the screen. Now, go north one screen. Here,
use your Morning Star to break the northern wall. And then, go north two
screens. In here, there are sliding floors again. Just walk to any one of the
top horizontal sliding floors and it will bring you to the correct one. Once
your outside of the sliding floors, go right two screens. Here, use the
ladder.

In the next area, you’ll see sliding floors going to the right screen and to
the south screen. Use the right sliding floors. From here, just wait until
Sumo stops in a screen with Pumpkin and two flowers to the north. Now, use
your Morning Star and break the north wall. And then, go north one screen and
use the ladder in there.

In the next area, break the north wall. Go through it and you’ll see a
recovery spring. After using it, go south one screen. Here, go left one screen
and then go south one screen. Kill all the enemies in this room. A chest will
appear in the center. Now, get it for an elixir. And then, go back north one
screen and then go right two screens. Here, go north one screen. Next, just
walk on the sliding floors then use the ladder at the upper right. In this
area, just go right one screen and enter the door. Next, use your MAXed flail
to reach the pole. After crossing over the sliding floors, go left two
screens. Next, go south one screen. In this room, walk to the sliding floor
and use your flail on the poles in the middle. After that, step in the switch.
A portion of the sliding floors will disappear. You can now step on the lower
right floor switch. The door will now open. Now, go south one screen. Here,
just go through the sliding floor and then go right two screens. In this room,
you can either go right or south. Go right one screen by using the sliding
floor. On the next screen, use the south sliding floor. When you reach the
next screen, you’ll see a small pond in the middle then, use the sliding floor
to the south. On the next screen, use your flail to reach the pole to the
left. Take note that you do not the a MAXed flail here. Now, go left using the
sliding floors. Now, you should be in a room where you can see a pit in the
middle and a wooden bridge over it. You’ll also see the sliding floors to the
left and right. Now, equip your flail (if it isn’t equipped) and use the left
sliding floor. When you reach the next room, try to hit the 2 poles on the
left wall. If you’re not successful, you’ll be back at the room with the pit.
Just continue on trying until you are able to hit either of the poles. If
you’re successful, use your Morning Star on the wall and go left one screen.
In this room, use your MAXed flail on the leftmost pole. And then use it on
the northmost one. Now, use the ladder at the corner. And then, go right one
screen and enter another door. When you reach the room with 3 poles, use your
flail on the middle pole first and then use it on the lower right one. Now, go
right one screen. And then go north one screen. Use the ladder in the corner
again. Now, prepare Sumo for another boss. I suggest that you use the Flame
Flail for the next battle. If you’re ready, go right one screen and meet Kary.

BOSS: KARY
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         183
GP:                 129
Attacks:            Icicle, Charging Tail attack
Preferred Weapon:   Flame Flail

Kary is very easy. Just stay on top or below him and continue hitting his
body. You cannot hit his tail or his hand as they are impervious to attacks.
He’ll just throw icicles at you and most of the time, charge at you and
attacking you with his tail. If you have the Flame Shield, it can block ALL of
the Icicles that are thrown at you.
#############################################################################

After beating Kary, a chest will appear in the middle. Now, examine it and
you’ll receive the Ice Sword. After that, you’ll be taken automatically to the
world map.

Let go to Floatrocks! Follow my instructions carefully so you won’t get lost.
First I suggest you ride your Chocobot. From Lorim, go south one screen and
then go left one screen. And then, go north two screens then left one screen.
Now, go south one screen. Here, use the docks and go in the water.

When you’re in the water go north four screens and then go left one screen.
And finally, go north one screen. You should now be on top of the map. Now, go
RIGHT four screens. Don’t go up as you’ll just end up below the map. Let’s
continue, go south two screens and then go right one screen. Next, go south
one screen and then right one screen. And then, go south four screens. You
should now see a water channel to your left. Go left one screen through the
water channel (river). Now, just keep on moving until you reach another dock.
Go out of the water and in to dry land.

Now, in dry land, go north one screen and then go right one screen. Here, go

side). Then, go right one screen. You’ll be at the shore of Ammonite Coast.
From here, just go all the way to the north, grabbing the poles if necessary,
until you reach the weapon shop at the end. You can buy Ice equipments here.
After buying the equipments, head all the way back to the recovery spring and
heal yourself. Now, from where the Recovery spring is, just go south one

BOSS: KRAKEN
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         199
GP:                 150+
Attacks:            Tentacles
Preferred Weapon:   Thunder Spear

If your slow, you might have some troubles with Kraken. It has two tentacles
by it’s side. Most of the time it won’t attack and sometimes it extends its
tentacles into the bridge and might hit you. The strategy here is to attack
then retreat. You must hit its head then quickly move out of the way of its
tentacles. This way, once it attacks, you’ll be out of harms way. This might
take long but I’m sure you can beat it.
#############################################################################

After beating Kraken, a door will appear. Go inside it. You’ll be outside now.
Now, you’ll see a door below right? All you have to do is to go around this
small island and you’ll be able to reach that door. Once you reach it, enter
it right away.

Inside, you’ll face new and stronger enemies but they sure give you a lot of
EXP and Gs. Now, go south one screen. Next, go left two screen and then go up
one screen. Here, destroy the wall to the left. Now, equip your Ice Magic and
your Sickle and go left one screen. Here, Hack away all the herbs around both
switches. Now, you can kill the Dark Mages if there are some but leave the
knights alive. You have to turn 2 of them into snowmen and place them over the
switches. If there’s only 1 knight, leave the room and then come back again.
If you successfully placed 2 snowmen on the switches, a ladder will appear in
the lower right corner. Now use the ladder. In the next area, go left one
screen. Here, go inside the door at the end. In the next area, go left one
screen. You’ll see a lava pool in this room. If you touch it, you’ll get A LOT
of damage! But you have to cross it. So, heal your character to the MAX and
cross the lava and go north one screen QUICKLY. Now, heal your character
again. Now, go north one more screen. You’ll see 2 doors here. Go left one
screen first and then go south one screen. Next, go left one screen. There’s a
lava pool here but luckily, you won’t have to cross it. Now, go south one
screen. You’ll see a dreaded Lava Pool. You have to cross it if you want to
get the treasure. So, cross it quickly and Cure if necessary. Once you reach
dry land, use a key and go south one screen. Here, kill all of the enemies and
a chest will appear in the middle. It’s the most powerful Axe in the game. The
Zeus Axe! Now, go north one screen and cross the lava pool again and go up
another screen. Here, destroy the right wall again and go right one screen
(there’s no point in going left). Next, go up one screen and then go right one
screen.

In here, go north one screen. Here, break the right wall and go right one
screen and use the ladder. Outside, just use the other door on top. In the
next area, go north one screen and then go right two screens. Here, go south
one screen. If you’re HP/MP are low, go south one screen for a recovery spring
and then come back one screen. Here, open the right door and go right one
screen. Here, destroy the lower right rock and use the ladder that appear. In
the next screen, you must choose among 3 doors. Choose the right most door as
the other 2 will only confuse you and won’t get you anywhere. Now, in the next
area, go south one screen and then go left one screen. Here, get your Ice
Magic ready and head north one screen. Here, turn any 2 monsters into snowmen
and push them on to the floor switches. After placing 2 snowmen on the
switches, a ladder will appear. Just attack the snowmem and you can now use
the ladder that appeared. In the next area, prepare your character once more.
Now, equip him with the Thunder Spear and Cure Magic and heal his HP/MP. If
you’re ready go left one screen and meet...

BOSS: IFLYTE
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         223
GP:                 264
Attacks:            Rolling Attack
Preferred Weapon:   Thunder Spear

Iflyte is very easy. Just attack him using the Spear. When he does his rolling
attack, just dodge it. You won’t have any problems at all. He’ll also stay for
a while on the top or at the bottom of the screen.
#############################################################################

After beating Iflyte, a chest will appear in the middle. Examine it to get the
Rusty Sword. Then, you’ll be taken automatically outside.

There’s a glitch here. If you arrive in the world map and the chocobot is in
the upper left corner, you can’t talk to it because the rocks get in the way.
All you have to do is to leave this screen and come back again and talk to the
chocobot and take it with you again. Now, we’ll have to go all the way back to
Lorim and see Cibba once more. I’ll tell you again how to get there if you
forgot. Here it is:

From the cave, go right one screen and then go south one screen. From here, go
left two screens. Next, go north one screen and then left and then north
again. You’ll be at the shop where you bought the Thunder Spear. From here, go

go south one screen and then one screen to the right. You’ll be back at the
shore. Here, go north two screens then go left one screen and then go north
two screens more. Here, go right one screen. You’ll now be at the Ammonite
Coast Area.

Next, go north three screens and then go left one screen. Here, go north one
screen. Now, use your Flail and cross the river. And then, go north one
screen. Here, you can go north and recover at the Springs. After using the
Springs, go south one screen then go left one screen. Now, go south one
screen. Now, go into the water using the docks.

In the water, go north one screen. And then, go right one screen then go south
two screens and then go right one screen again. You’ll be at the ocean again.
Here, go north six screen and then go left two screens. Next, go north one
screen. And then, go left four screens. Now, go down through the water channel
going to the south and head for Lorim.

=====
LORIM

When you reach Lorim, talk to Cibba right away. He’ll tell you that the only
thing left to do is to reveal the Dime Tower in the Desert of Crystal. You
must then use the Rusty Sword (Legendary Sword) in the Cave of Ruins in order
to reveal the Tower. The ruins is located in the Desert of Crystal near Ish.
After a short talk about the Sword, Cibba will tell you to go to Dr. Bowow to
ask for directions. Nah! You can ask me though! :)

Here’s my instructions to get to the Cave of Ruins:
After talking to Cibba, leave Lorim right away.

=====
WORLD
=====

Now, in the world map, get your Chocobot. Go to the Ocean and go up until you
reach the top portion of the map. (You should see the shop in the Snowfields).
Check you map and check whether your already on top of the map. If you went to
Bowow, you’ll know that the Cave of Ruins is hidden beneath one of the
crystals in the Desert of Crystal and you’ll need a very powerful magic to
destroy the crystal covering the entrance. It is the Nuke Magic. Bowow will
tell you to beat Lich at the Palmy Desert. I’ll just tell you how to get there
and beat Lich for the Nuke, the strongest magic in the game.

From your current location (on top of the map), go left until you see the
docks in the Desert of Crystal (Ish Area). Here, don’t go to dry land,
instead, go north three screens. You’ll see the Palmy Desert and the docks.
Use the docks to enter dry land. Now, from your current position, go left one
screen. And then go south one screen then go left one screen. Next, go south
one screen again and then go left one screen again. Here, go north one screen.
You’ll now see the Cave of the Palmy Desert.

Once inside, use the other ladder at the lower right corner of the room. In
the next room, use the other ladder again at the lower right corner. In the
next area, go down the ladders. Before going north, make sure your HP and MP
are FULL as you’ll meet one of the most damaging enemy in the game! I suggest
that you use the Flame Flail as it has a fast attack and can hit Lich many
times. And don’t forget to Save. Now, if you’re ready, go north and battle
Lich.

BOSS: LICH
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         196
GP:                 204

Preferred Weapon:   Flame Flail

You must be very fast as Lich flies around quickly. He’ll also lunge at you
some nasty skulls that damages you a lot. And most of all, DON’T EVER TOUCH
HIM! You’ll receive a very large amount of damage! All you have to do is to
try to evade him at the same time, hitting him with your Flail. Your Flame
Flail will be fast enough for you to move away from Lich. The only advantage
Lich can give you is that, you can hit Lich on any part of his body. So, try
to be patient.

Note: You can hit the Skulls with your weapons.
#############################################################################

After the battle, you’ll now receive the Nuke Magic. Then, you’ll
automatically be taken on the world map.

save time. Now, from the Cave, go back to the docks and into the water. From
here, go south three screens and you’ll arrive in the Docks at the Desert of
Crystal. Go to Dry Land and then go right one screen. Here, you’ll see 2

attack but it is very easy to evade. Trust me, Mantis Ant is easy.
#############################################################################

After the battle, heal your HP to the MAX. After that, equip the Rusty Sword
and go right one screen. In here, step on the Floor Switch while you have the
Rusty Sword Equipped. It will release it’s power now. Then, you’ll be
automatically taken to the world map. A message will show up. Dime Tower

you’re ready, let’s head for the Dime Tower. I repeat, there’s no turning back
now.

From Ish, go left one screen and then south one screen and finally to the left

be the last time that you’ll see the world map so come here prepared. Take
note that if you go left one screen and the north one screen, you’ll see a

go up one screen and then go left one screen. Use the ladders here. In the
next area, go left one screen and then go south one screen. Next, go right one
screen. Now, go south two screens. You’ll see another tablet that says “ONE
WHO TOUCHES THE MANA TREE GETS THE POWER”. From here, go right one screen. Go
to meeting point...

Path #2
-------
In the screen with 4 floor switches in the middle, use your Flail to go in the
middle. Just step on all floor switches and the door to the north will open.
After that, go north one screen and use the ladders. In the next area, go up
one screen using the vines. In this screen, just enter the door. Now, go south
three screens and then go left one screen.

Meeting Point
-------------
Now, use the ladders. In the next area, go up one screen using the vines to
the left. On the next screen, enter the door. Now, go left one screen. There
are 2 locked doors here, one to the left and one to the north. Let’s call this
Point AA. Now, equip a key then go north one screen. Next, go right one
screen. You can now get the Dragon Armor from the chest in the middle. If you
go north one screen and move on, you’ll reach a tablet that says, “GEMMA
KNIGHT WITH THE RUSTY SWORD WILL BE TESTED. THE TRUE GEMMA KNIGHT SHOULD BE
GIVEN THE LEGENDARY SWORD, EXCALIBUR...!”. Now, go back to Point AA. If you go
left one screen, you’ll see another tablet that says “KING OF VANDOLE GOT THE
MIGHTY POWER OF MANA. THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN STAND AGAINST IT IS THE... GEMMA
KNIGHT... WITH THE... EXCALIBUR...”. Let’s go to Point AA again. From here, go
north one screen again. Here, destroy the left wall and go through it to the
next screen. Then, use the ladders. In the next screen, just use the other
ladder. In the next area, equip your axe and hack the 2 trees that are
covering the 2 monsters. Be careful not to hit them. If you accidentally
killed one of them, just save and then restart the game again. Now, once the
trees are gone, use your Ice and turn them into snowmen. The north door will
now open. Then, go north one screen and then go right one screen.

You’ll see another tablet that says “THE VANDOLE SOON SHOULD FALL. WE LEAVE
OUR LAST HOPE IN THE CAVE OF THE WATERFALLS. GLORY TO VANDOLE AND TO OUR CHILD
OF HOPE...!”. Now, go south one screen and use the ladder there. In the next
screen, prepare your character for a boss fight. If you’re already prepared,
go north one screen and face...

BOSS: GARUDA
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         221
GP:                 266
Attacks:            Feather Blades, Charge
Preferred Weapon:   Flame Flail

I suggest you use the Flame Flail as it can attack more times than the other
weapon types. Garuda is VERY EASY! Just stay on the lower left corner if he is
on the upper left, and go to the lower right corner if he is on the upper
right. Just attack and attack while you’re in the corner. Once he charges,
just follow him. You’ll receive no damage at all. Your Flail will destroy all
Feather Blades that he throws at you.
#############################################################################

After the battle, the tower will crumble. It lost its balance. One you regain
control of your character, go left one screen. In the next screen, you can
take advantage of Marcie for the last time. Equip your Cure magic and then use
it until your HP is at full. Then, ASK Marcie to restore all MPs! After doing
this trick, go left one screen.

Now, a piece of the tower will fall. You can’t go to the other side. Marcie
will then kick you so that you can reach the other side. Once you reach the
other side, you’ll see a sad scene. Marcie is unable to jump. The Dime Tower
will come crashing down including Marcie. Sumo will have a surge of emotion
afterwards (he’ll shout).

=============
GLAIVE CASTLE
=============

When you regain control of Sumo, keep moving left. You’ll notice that you’re
at Glaive Castle. You don’t have to enter the castle itself. Go all the way to
the left towards the waterfalls. Once you reach it, it’s current will now go
up and Sumo will go for it. You’ll be taken WAY WAY up until you reach the
top. You’re now at the Final Dungeon in the game, the Temple of Mana.

==============
TEMPLE OF MANA
==============

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
SUPER TIP #1:
You can get Elixirs from the Ninja’s right? Now, if your item inventory is
full and you examine a chest left by a ninja, it will say “Can’t Carry” right?
Now, here's something great. Keep on examining it and you’ll get the most
powerful Armor in the game, the Samurai Armor.

SUPER TIP #2:
The Devil Heads here that can only be destroyed by using the Nuke Magic, give
off X-Ethers. If you do the same thing as you did to the Ninja, you’ll be able
to get the most powerful Helmet in the game, the Samurai Helmet.

SUPER TIP #3:
The Elephants near the last boss will give you a Unicorn. If you do the same
thing as you did with the Ninjas and the Devil Heads, you’ll get the most
powerful shield in the game, the Aegis Shield. It can deflect ANY projectile
attack at you. Even the strong force balls of the last boss.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Now, move on until you enter the Temple itself. Inside, just go south one
screen and then go right two screens. Next, go north two screens. In here,
equip a key and go north one screen and then use the ladders. In the next
area, prepare your character for a boss fight. After the preparations, go
north one screen and face...

BOSS: DRAGON
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         0
GP:                 257
Attacks:            Fire Ball
Preferred Weapon:   Flame Flail or Thunder Spear

This is a very easy fight. Just use your Flail or Spear to attack the Head
ONLY. You can’t damage any other part of its body.
#############################################################################

After the fight, use the teleporter that appears. In the next screen, just go
right one screen (You’ll see the Devil Heads here so use Super Tip #2) and use
the teleporter.

In the next screen, go left one screen. Here, go north one screen and then go
left two screens and use the teleporter at the end. In the next area, just go
right to the next screen and use the teleporter. In the next area, go south
one screen. Here, destroy the left wall then go left two screens. Next, go
south one screen. Here, go left one screen and use the teleporter. Next, go
left one screen and then go south one screen. Now, in this room, there’s a
trapped monster in the bottom of the screen. Now, equip your Ice Magic and use
to turn the monster into a snowman. Your Ice can pass through the circle
thingy (whatever) so you can reach it. It’s easy to guide your icicle, just
try again if you fail. If you successfully turned the monster into a snowman,
the right door will open. Now, go right one screen and use the ladder. In the
next screen, prepare your character again for another boss. If you’re prepared
go north one screen.

BOSS: RED DRAGON
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         0
GP:                 257
Attacks:            Fire Ball
Preferred Weapon:   Flame Flail or Thunder Spear

It’s just the same as the previous dragon. Just use your Flail or Spear to
attack the Head ONLY. You also can’t damage any other part of its body.
#############################################################################

After you beat the Red Dragon, use the teleporter that will appear. In the
next area, just go left one screen and use the teleporter. Now, go right one
screen and then go north one screen and use the teleporter. In the next area,
go right one screen and use the teleporter.

Now, go south one screen and then go right one screen. Now, let’s call this
screen Point BB. From here, go right one screen and use the teleporter. In the
next screen, go left one screen using a key. Use the Recovery Spring and then
go back to Point BB. From here, go south one screen and use the teleporter.
Now, go left one screen and use the teleporter. When you reach the next area,
go right five screens. Here, you’ll see a lot of floor switches formed in a
rectangle. You have to change a Ninja into a snowman and put it in the correct
Floor Switch. In the left COLUMN of switches, the correct one is the ones
which is second from below. Put the snowman there and the door to the north
will open. Now, go north three screens and use the ladder. In the next screen,
just like a while ago, prepare your character again. If you’re ready, go north
one screen.

BOSS: DRAGON ZOMBIE
#############################################################################
EXP gained:         0
GP:                 270
Attacks:            Fire Ball, Charge Attack
Preferred Weapon:   Flame Flail or Thunder Spear

The Dragon Zombie looks like the two-headed dragon you fought way back at the
Cave of Marsh. All you have to do is to attack the head with your flail or
spear. Beware though, if his fireballs hit you or you accidentally touched it,
it will deal a big amount of damage compared to the previous 2 dragons.
#############################################################################

After the battle, use the teleporter that will appear. From here on, the path
is pretty straight forward to the final boss! You can now use my Super Tip #3
to get the Aegis shield for the best protection. Now, on the way, you’ll see
Fuji’s Mom. She’ll tell you that you have been a great Gemma knight. She will
now bestow you with the most powerful weapon in the game, the Excalibur! Equip
it right away then move on. NOW READ CAREFULLY. When you reach the area where
you can see 2 big trees to the left and right and a big ladder in the middle,
prepare your character for the final battle! I recommend level 50+ when you’re
here. You can level up your character by beating the elephants here until you
reach level 50. If you’re ready go up the ladder and fight Julius!

NOTE: YOU WILL RECEIVE EXP AND GP!!! This very odd! The EXP is useful as you
can level up while you fight Julius. But the GP? It’s useless.

FINAL BOSS: JULIUS (3 Forms)  162438 - 61535
#############################################################################
Note: You should use the Excalibur Sword. But if you want some challenge, try
using the Broad Sword! :) And, in all three forms of Julius, the charging
attack of the MAXed sword is the most efficient attack to use.

FIRST FORM:
-----------
Attacks:  Sword
EXP:      638
GP:       818

Julius will be in triplets. You just have to attack and beat all three until
all of them disappears. After that, prepare for Julius’ second form.

SECOND FORM:
------------
Attacks:  Lightning Bolts, Charging Attack
EXP:      0
GP:       162

He will turn into a monster now and Julius will be harder to avoid this time.
He’ll be flying on top while throwing Lightning bolts. From time to time, he
will also charge downwards so try to be always by his side. He can charge from
left to right or vice versa though.

THIRD FORM:
-----------
Attacks:     Teleportation, Force Ball
EXP and GP:  No more

He will turn into a head with 2 arms. He will teleport from one place to
another. There is a pattern but I won’t include it in the guide. Also, while
teleporting from place to place, he will be throwing force balls at you. With
you Aegis Shield, the force balls are NOTHING! He will be hard to beat, but
with Fuji as your companion, you can ASK her to regenerate your HP while
fighting. What I did was I also equipped the Nuke at the same time, attacking
with the Excalibur. These made short work of him!
#############################################################################

After you beat all 3 forms of Julius, you’ll see a short scene. It’s somewhat
sad but happy at the same time. I won’t spoil it, just finish the game. :)
Well, that’s it for the best RPG for the Gameboy (My rechargeable batteries
got a beating). So, thank you for reading the guide and congratulations! I
hope you enjoyed the game! Until then. C’ya!

                         =-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
                               GAMEPLAY TIPS
                         -=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

1. The Moogle (Moog) condition cannot be cured even with the Moogle Item. If
it is inflicted to your character, there are 2 ways to avoid contact with the
enemy (these will also use up the time so that Moogle will be cured). First,
ASK your Chocobo for a ride! Your enemies can’t hurt you at all. And then, ASK
again and your Moog condition will be removed. Second, stay at the edge of the
current area (in world map/field) or stay in front of the doorways (dungeons,
towns, etc.) and go back and forth between this area and the other area. This
will use the time and prevents enemy contact.

2. You are poisoned! (Pois Condition) You don’t want to use Pure or the Heal
Magic. Stay at the edge of the current area (in world map/field) or stay in
front of the doorways (dungeons, towns, etc.) and go back and forth between
this area and the other area. This will use up the time but will definitely
cure Poison after a while. Doing this also lessens the effect of the poison.
Your HP will drop at most 2 times only.

3. Another strategy for Pois. If the Heroine is with you, ASK her. This will
counter the Pois effect. Every time Pois cuts down your HP, the heroine will
heal that same amount of HP lost. Therefore, no change of HP will occur when
in Pois Condition.

4. Yet another Pois Strategy. If you are alone and you don’t have items.
You’re low on life, surrounded by enemies, and Poisoned at the same time, what
do you do? Attack like crazy! Hitting the A button rapidly will make your
character attack continuously. This will slow down the Pois condition. It will
stop the depletion of your HP. Take note also that this does not mean that the
Pois condition is cured.

5. In towns, YOU CAN KILL THE PEOPLE! Just be patient though. They have a high
HP and won’t go down easily. When you use your strongest weapons, about 3-5
hits will do. If you beat them, they will say their lines afterwards.

6. If you want to get a lot of experience in a certain place but you are
afraid that the enemies will not respawn anymore? If you have 4 enemies in an
area, if you beat them all and come back, there will be no more enemies,
right? But, if you left one of them, alive, and then came back again, the
enemies will respawn. This is good for leveling up and collecting GPs.

7. When you strike a wall with a weapon and you hear a cranking sound, use
your mattock or Morning Star to destroy that wall and reveal a new path.

8. If an empty chest gets in your way, destroy it with your weapon and it will
simply, disappear.

9. If there are a lot of rocks, and they are beside each other, you can break
them in one shot. With the Mattock, stand in between the rocks and then press
the B button. The 2 rocks will disappear. With the Morning Star, just attack
the rocks head on.

10. Once you acquire the Morning Star, you won’t have any need for the
Mattocks anymore. So, just sell ALL your mattocks to save space in the Items
Inventory. This will enable you to get more important items such as Keys.

                     FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
                     =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Where can I find an updated version of this walkthrough/FAQ?

This guide will be posted and updated mainly at HTTP://WWW.GAMEFAQS.COM. There
are also other sites in which I gave my permission to also post my work in it
original and unaltered form. Here they are:

http://www.gamewinners.com or
 -http://vgstrategies.about.com
http://www.pgamers.com

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. What made you do this guide? FFA is a really old game.

Creating/Updating FAQs has become my hobby. With regards to this, I plan to
create one for the best games that I have so far. I’ll be concentrating on
RPGs as of now. Final Fantasy was the FIRST RPG I’ve ever played. It is third
in line for my projects as the 2 of my most favorite RPGs have a guide from
me. The Chrono Trigger (SNES) and Chrono Cross (PSX).  Who knows? I may create
a guide for another type of game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. How often can you update the FAQ?

This is the question, which do not have an exact answer. An update will be
made if there is certain info that needs to be included. I’m still going to
school and I only have limited time per day to make updates/revisions of this
walkthrough. But, I’ll always make sure that if there’s a new info, I’ll
update this walkthrough/FAQ right away.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. What are the most powerful equipments in the game?

Here they are, the Excalibur (sword), Samurai Armor, Samurai Helmet and the
Aegis Shield. See Super Tips at the Temple of Mana section in the walkthrough.
Note: you’ll get the Excalibur automatically.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. What level do you recommend should I be when I battle Julius?

You should be at least Level 50. You won’t have any problems at all when
you’re at this level.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Is there a way to cure Moog?

Yes. Ride your Chocobo and then jump off again. You’re Moog status should now
be removed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Where do you think is the best place to level up?

I leveled up Sumo in 2 places. First, in the snowfield area. I kept running
back and forth beating all those wolves, walruses, and Snowmen. The second one
is near Julius. I kept on killing those elephants. Either way you’ll get good
experience points and GP.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. How much time do I need to finish this game?

In my opinion and in my experience, it will take you about 10-12 hours to
finish the game with complete equipments and a high level.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. What’s the max level that you can achieve?

Level 99. With 999 HP and 99 MP. The character stats will depend on what you
chose in previous level ups.
