[HELP]

Crayon Shin-Chan: Ora no Gokigen Collection is the fifth and final of
five Crayon Shin-Chan games for the Game Boy, and the only non-numbered one (not
counting the first, which did not have an actual number 1). Unlike Crayon Shin-
Chan 1, 2, and 4, but like Crayon Shin-Chan 3, there is no platforming action in
this game, but rather a number of mini-games. Most of the mini-games, however,
are drawn from the prior 4 games, with only 4 new mini-games.

The basic gist of the game is that Himawari, Shin-chan's younger baby
sister, has gone missing, and you must find her. To do so, you must go around to
each house on the map, talk to the person there, and play the mini-game. After
playing (and possibly winning, but the author is not sure of this) each mini-
game, as well as (possibly) mini-games at a travelling car, you will
automatically be brought to one final mini-game. If you win that, then you get
the ending.

[WALK]

This here is a basic step-by-step guide to how to get through the game,
one mini-game at a time. For instructions on how to actually play each mini-
game, refer to the mini-game section. The order the mini-games are listed are in
the same order as in this walkthrough. The travelling car mini-games are all
bunched together at the end, right before the final mini-game.

You can tell if you have completed a mini-game because the expression on
the person's face on the overworld map will have changed. The author is unsure
if you have to win every mini-game at people's houses to play the final mini-
game, or just do them (and possibly losing them). You do NOT have to do all
three mini-games at the car to get to the final mini-game.

•After the start of the conversation, enter Shin-chan's house to play
Stop-Go.

•Head west and north from Shin-chan's house to play Dance Mimicry.

•Head north and west up to the northwestern house to play Mop the
Floors.

•Move to the southwest household (the masked face, Kamen's house) to do
the Cycling mini-game.

•Head slightly up and east from Kamen's household and enter the house
just south and west of Shin-chan's house to play Soccer.

•Take the house slightly south and east of Shin-chan's house (Kazama,
the wavy black-haired boy) to play Collect the Books.

•Next, go to the southeast-most house and play Locate the Swimsuit
Model.

•Go to the centre-east house with the lady to play Guess That Model.

•If you run into a car travelling around the roads, you can play one of
three games at random: Spring Cleaning, Clean Up Your Toys, or Stilts Race.
Repeat to play the other two mini-games.

•Proceed to the southwest house that is not Kamen's, but the one just
south and east of that to play the Obstacle course game.

•Move to the northeast household, which a giant shape of your white dog
to play Playground Slide.

-------
STOP-GO
-------
WHERE: Shin-chan's house

Stop-Go, which many of you may remember also as Red Light-Green Light,
involves one kid standing next to a tree while Shin-Chan and three others are
out on a field. After you press the Start button, the kid at the tree will turn
his head around to face the tree.

When this occurs, immediately tap the A button very quickly to move
forward. Once the kid at the tree finishes his sentence (his dialogue box will
fill out completely when this occurs), stop immediately before he turns around.
Once he turns back to face the tree again, his dialogue box will empty, and you
can resume.

To win, you need to make it to the Goal Line first, though winning is
NOT mandatory during the regular gameplay.

A Note: This may be an emulators-only issue, but repeatedly tapping the
A button seems to not work very well as Shin-chan will fall behind the others.
Using a Turbo-A button works, however.

-------------
DANCE MIMICRY
-------------
Where: Left and up from Shin-chan's house (Nene)

This game is basically 'Simon Says' but with dance moves. Shin-chan's
female friend Nene will mime one four different types of moves. One of these is
jumping up and swinging her arms out, one of them is jumping up and kneeling
down, a third is moving her arms to just one direction, and the last one is
swinging her arms both left and right of her.

You basically need to remember the order she does her dance moves in, as
indicated by the counter ticking up every time she does a new move, then repeat
them in the precise same order. This is done by higlighting one of the four
cards on the bottom of the screen and pressing A (you can press B to cancel your
last choice). How each card matches up to what you are supposed to do is also
described below.

First, you have to mimic 4 of Nene's moves. Next, you have to mimic 5
straight moves, and then finally 6. The order she does thing changes up each
time, so it is not a case of the second set of 5 moves being the same as the
first 4 with one extra one added.

LEFT - Jumping just up and spreading arms out wide

MIDDLE-LEFT - Moving arms to the right or left only

MIDDLE-RIGHT Card - Jumping up and kneeling down spreading arms out wide

RIGHT Card - Moving arms back and forth left and right

--------------
MOP THE FLOORS
--------------
Where: Far northwest house

In this game, Shin-chan is set to mopping the floor of the house. There
are 100 tiles to clean, with multiple bookshelves and chairs and so forth
littering the household. Shin-chan moves forward automatically, and you can
steer him to turn him at corners.

Only 80 of the 100 tiles need to be mopped. However, there is also a dog
running around. You need to keep from coming in contact with the dog until at
least 80 tiles (80%) have been mopped, because coming in contact with the dog
will cause you to lose your mop. Once you do, Shin-chan will stand where he is
until time runs out. If you had at least 80% mopped up to then, then you win the
game.

-------
CYCLING
-------
WHERE: Far southwest house (Kamen, the masked face's house)

In the Cycling mini-game, you have four players and four lanes of
traffic. To move your bike forward, you need to tap the A button repeatedly to
accelerate on your bike. Once you do, stay aware of the various obstacle courses
on the course.

The negative obstacles are sand pits, which will slow Shin-chan down,
puddles of water, which will knock him over and waste a few seconds, and holes,
which will also waste a couple of seconds should Shin-chan fall into one.

A positive obstacle are Arrow panels, which will speed you up.

To avoid obstacles (or move into Arrow panels), use the Up and Down
buttons to move along all four lanes of traffic, and/or the B button to
decelerate before you hit something.

A Note: This may be an emulators-only issue, but repeatedly tapping the
A button seems to not work very well as Shin-chan will fall behind the others.
Using a Turbo-A button works, however.

------
SOCCER
------
WHERE: Slightly south and west of Shin-chan's house

This is a 'Kick-the-ball-into-the-net'-esque game, with one person in
goal, and one person kicking the ball. As Shin-chan, you start kicking the ball
and then rotate in to play goalie. As far as I can tell, you play three times at
each position, regardless of score.

When kicking the ball, you need to press and HOLD the A button, and the
meter will fill up. If the meter goes all the way to the top and overflows, it
shall reset to the bottom 'empty' position and move back up to full again. The
closer you are to having a 'full' meter when you release the A button, the
better a chance of getting a goal once Shin-chan finishes his stumbling around
and kicks the ball.

When defending in net, you can move left and right at any time as soon
as the other boy begins to move. Press the A button to make a jump into the air.
If you are standing still Shin-chan merely jumps up, but if you are moving left
or right he also dives in that direction.

-----------------
COLLECT THE BOOKS
-----------------
Where: Slightly south and east of Shin-chan's house

In Collect the Books, you are put into a maze with two other boys and
numerous books on the ground. The books are numbered from 1 to 10, and more
books shall fall down on the ground over time.

To win, you must pick up some (not all) of the books from the ground, in
order from 1 through 10, before the timer runs out and before Kazama collects
books from 1 through 10. The higher numbers such as 9 and 10 will not be on the
ground at the start, but they shall show up over time. Once you collect all 10
books, you NEED to return to one of the desks on-screen to finish the game.

The problem is the presence of the bully in the area. If you contact
him, he basically knock you over and make you lose your highest numbered book at
the time. This does not occur if you come in contact with Kazama (the guy with
the wavy black hair).

-------------------------
LOCATE THE SWIMSUIT MODEL
-------------------------
Where: Southeastern house

This is an extremely simply game. At the start of the game, you are
given three adults, one who is wearing a swimsuit, who are all standing on a
podium. The curtains will close, and the three will move around. You must keep
track of which one is the person wearing a swimsuit. Once the three stop moving,
indicate which one is the lady wearing the swimsuit.

You are given 5 tries, and you must get it correct at least three times
in those five guesses.

-------------------
GUESS THAT PORTRAIT
-------------------
WHERE: Centre-east house with the lady

In this game, you are given nine character portraits. To the left side,
a 4x4 block of black is shown. Every couple of seconds, a block is changed,
showing a part of a character's face. You must infer which character portrait
that is, highlight the correct face, and select it.

You start off with 50 points for each portrait. Every time a block is
shown, 5 points is removed for your potential reward, so if you guess a
character portrait after 3 blocks have been revealed, you get 35 points.

To win the game, you must get 350 points in 50 seconds. However, if you
choose a wrong portrait, you lose the number of points in the reward from your
cumulative point total, so choose carefully!

---------------
OBSTACLE COURSE
---------------
WHERE: Southwest house that is not Kamen's

After yo do the first 9 mini-games, you must visit the place north of
Shin-chan's house, then go to Shin-chan's home. After some more conversation,
you will get to play this game.

There are three basic parts to the obstacle course - a hurdle course,
climbing poles, and swimming. In between there are normal running segments.

To run, you need to repeatedly tap the A button.

When you get to the hurdles, press the Up button just before each hurdle
to hop over it.

When you come to the poles, you need to press the A button to climb up
the poles. Wait until the bamboo basket comes over to your side, then press the
Up button to jump on. Press Up again when you get to the other side to jump onto
the opposite pole, then press A to climb down.

When swimming, once again you press A to swim. However, there are three
eels that swim up and down in the water. Wait for one to move away from you
before attempting to swim past it.

----------------
PLAYGROUND SLIDE
----------------
WHERE: Northeast 'dog'house

In this mini-game, you get a demonstration by your white dog, who will
slide down a playground elephant slide (amusingly enough, this exact slide was
present in the first Crayon Shin-Chan Game Boy game) and grab a Shin-chan doll
for a 1-Up. In later levels, there will be added parts to the mini-game, such as
a spring to land on after jumping off from the slide. This demonstration also
shows precisely where the button prompts will be.

Once the demonstration is over, you as Shin-chan need to replicate the
performance. To be precise, you need to press the A button ONLY once, and you
need to press the A button near the end of when the button prompt is on-screen.
For example, with the slide, do NOT press the A button as soon as the button
prompt is shown on-screen, but rather just before Shin-chan leaves the slide.

Depending on when you play this game, you may have to play more levels.
If you complete all the regular mini-games first, you have to do this 6 straight
times. After the first time, you add one more spring per level, up to level 5
with 4 springs, then level 6 also has 4 springs but in a different arrangement
of the springs. If, however, you do this game at the very start of a
playthrough, you will have to do 10 straight jump marathons, some of the latter
which get ridiculous.

---------------
SPRING CLEANING
---------------
WHERE: Encounter the car driving around the map, at random with 2 other games

In Spring Cleaning, a woman will be up on top of a roof, apparently
cleaning up the roof gutters. She will toss all manners of items from down the
roof, and you as Shin-chan need to move around on the ground below, catching
items that she tosses down below.

Cans that are occasionally dropped down cost you 10 points. Leaves, and
some articles such as towels net you only a single point. Shirts give you 5
points, while socks and underwear net you 10 points.

The author is unsure what the point total is to clear the game with a
'win'. You can best tell from Shin-chan's expression after time runs out. A
victorious pose with him shaking his arms in the air means you completed the
mini-game with the prerequisite score, but shaking his head means you did not.

------------------
CLEAN UP YOUR TOYS
------------------
WHERE: Encounter the car driving around the map, at random with 2 other games

In Clean Up Your Toys, Shin-chan must move around a house viewed with a
top-down (bird's eye) view, collecting 6 toys. The toys are all pictures on
square white tiles, so they should be easy to locate. The first toy is in the
hallway just north of where Shin-chan's room is, the next two are in the kitchen
around the table, a fouth is in the southwest room, and two more are outside.

To complete the game, you have to pick up all six items, an deposit them
in the box in the northeast corner of Shin-chan's room. Picking up the items is
done automatically as soon as you come in contact with a tile, but to drop it
into the box you must press the A button. You can pick up TWO items at a time
and drop them both off at the box.

Shin-chan's room has two exits, one out north and one west to the
kitchen, so make use of both of them to get around. The doors are fairly ugly to
move through, as you have to be extremely level with them to push the doors open
and move through. However, you can also pick up the tricycle outside, which does
not count against your holding two items, but does boost your movement speed
considerably.

If your dog touches you, you will lose one of your tiles and it will fly
off.

-----------
STILTS RACE
-----------
WHERE: Encounter the car driving around the map, at random with 2 other games

In Stilts Race, you are playing on a four-lane track against three other
boys, while moving forward on Stilts. You cannot change lanes unlike the Cycling
mini-game, so instead focus only on the obstacles in the top lane.

Move forward by repeatedly tapping the A button. When you come to an
obstacle, whether it happens to be a sand pit which will slow you down, a puddle
of water which will knock Shin-chan down, or a bump in the track, press the B
button to jump forward. You can also use the B button in general to jump, but
you must have some forward momentum first before you can make the jump.

--------------------
ESCAPE THE LABYRINTH
--------------------
WHEN: After defeating Playground Slide

Once you beat Playground Slide, you will automatically be put into
Escape the Labyrinth. In Escape the Labyrinth, you are put into a vertically-
scrolling maze with multiple dead ends. You must go up, left and right and run
around the multiple rock paths to locate the exit to the maze.

You are given five tries to successfully escape the maze. At the start
of each try, a clock will scroll down through numbers. When you hit the A
button, it will give you a number between 10 and 30 seconds, which is the amount
of time you have to locate the exit to the maze. 10 seconds is virtually
impossible to do, even if you have a perfect route run to the exit, but anything
above that is doable.

Also, the rocks tend to 'slip' a little bit, where you may push right
and you cannot do so because Shin-chan is not perfectly aligned with the open
path, but is rather pushing up against a rock. Adjust yourself in that case to
continue moving.

Once you complete the escape thrice, you get the game's ending.
