INTRODUCTION
==============
Choplifer III is a strategy game in a very different genre. And it's a
very good game too but it is too short and lacks replay value. The reason
I'm writing this FAQ is mainly because there are no FAQs for it and also
because even if the game is easy enough, it has its fair share of secrets
and things to know.
Please note that the FAQ isn't complete yet. There are 4 sectors but I'm
currently through my third game, I still need time for the remaining
levels. They should be up quite soon though! But you can be sure that what
I've already covered will see you through in the best possible manner! :)

GAME BASICS
=============
You control a chopper and you need to rescue hostages in the various
missions that you have been assigned. Of course, things aren't as easy as
they appear. You'll have to deal with the tons of enemies that will try
to take you down in your heroic missions and some hostages are hidden
too. Thankfully, you get all types of bombs along the way and you even
have friends who will repair your chopper when you're in a very bad state.
Here are the different features of the game:
- Rescue hostages. Kill enemies if necessary.
- Return hostages to base.
- Get repairs if needed.
- Take specials. These specials drop from the air in crates. To take them
while they are still in the air, you must aim at the crate only. If you
shoot the parachute, they will drop down and explode.
- You may only carry up to 10 hostages at a time.
- 1 bonus hostages gives you 250 bonus points.

OPTIONS
=========
At the menu, you'll also see the Options and the Password menu. Here's
the list of the options available in the game!
LEVEL - Lets you set the difficulty level of the game. You can choose
between Easy, Normal and Hard
LIVES - Determines how many lives you'll have. Choose any number from 1
to 7.
CONTROL - Configure the controls as you wish but only 3 buttons can be
changed here and these are for the Fire, Fire Special and
Change Special buttons.
GAME MUSIC - Turn music ON or OFF. The game music is good, switch it ON
unless you're allergic to music. =)
SOUND MODE- Stereo or Mono.

CONTROLS
==========
These are the controls for the chopper. Note that they cannot be changed.
UP ----> Move chopper up
DOWN ----> Move chopper down
LEFT ----> Move chopper to the left
RIGHT ----> Move chopper to the right
L ----> Turn chopper to the left
R ----> Turn chopper to the right
The other controls may be changed in the Options menu but anyway, you
need only 3 button for the game. Just set them so that it is easy for
you to switch between them. Here's the list of what these buttons will
be used for:
FIRE ----> Shoot at enemies
FIRE SPECIAL ----> Use your specials (bombs, etc...)
CHANGE SPECIAL ----> Toggle between the specials available

WALKTHROUGH
=============
Although you are asked to rescue a certain number of hostages only, there
are actually more than that. You get bonus points if you rescue more than
required. I'll be listing the locations of all the hostages that I've found
so far but if you are just interested in finishing the game quickly, just
choose the easiest ones and rescue them.
***SECTOR 1, LEVEL 1***
Number of hostages to be rescued: 14
Number of hostages available: 20
- From base, go left.
- There will be 2 hostages on the hill next to the house. Land to the
left of the house to take them.
- There are also 2 hostages in the house and you must destroy the house
to free them.
HINT: You don't have to destroy the house. Just land to rescue the 2
next to the house but make sure that when you stop, the enemy to the
right of the house is still on-screen. He will try to shoot at you
from his location but will only succeed in destroying the house
himself, thus liberating the 2 hostages. ^_^
- Go left.
- There will be 2 hostages to the right of the small hut. Take them.
- There are 2 more hostages in the hut. Destroy it to free them.
- Go further to the left.
- There are 2 hostages to the left of the village.
- There are also 4 hostages in the village and you need to destroy it
to liberate them.
HINT: Just land close to it such that the soldier to the right remains
on-screen. He will destroy the village for you. ^_^
- Your ally is located just next to where the 2 soldiers were. He will
repair your plane!
- Go to the left, past the cannon.
- You will see a hut but be careful, there is a mine next to it. Destroy
the mine first. Next, destroy the house to free 2 more hostages.
- Go to the left, above the upper ledge.
- Land to take the hostage who's waving at you.
- There are 3 more hostages in the small village to your right and once
again, you need to destroy it for them to come out.
HINT: Just let the soldier do the work for you!
***SECTOR 1, LEVEL 2***
Number of hostages to be rescued: 16
Number of hostages available: 23
- Go to the left first.
- Destroy the first village for 4 hostages.
- Continue to the left.
- There is another hostage past the hill but he's guarded. Take out the
soldier first before landing to rescue him.
- There are 2 others a bit to the left.
- Next, go past the tank until you see 4 hostages on different ledges.
Don't land yet. A soldier will drop down after some time, kill him
first and rescue all 4 hostages.
NOTE: You mst land on the different ledges to get them to come to you.
- Your ally is further to the left.
- The others on the right side of the base, so return to the base and
now, move to the right.
- Move past the bridge but it's better if you destroy the tank by the
same way.
- There are 2 hostages next to the bridge. Kill the soldier first before
landing for them.
NOTE: I hope you destroyed the tank as I said because it will aim at
you if you didn't! And since you cannot fire while on the ground...
- Go past the second bridge until you see the small village. There are
3 hostages in it.
- Rescue the 2 hostages to the right. They're on the upper ledge but
you need to take out the jeep first.
- Go to the right and destroy the next village that you see for 4 more
hostages. Land to its left to rescue them.
- There is one more hostage to the complete right but this one is _very_
well guarded. Take out all the enemies first and rescue him.
***SECTOR 1, LEVEL 3***
Number of hostages to be rescued: 18
Number of hostages available: 25
- The hostages are all to the right, so go right!
- There is one hostage at the foot of the hill but he's guarded by a
soldier. Be careful of this one as he'll fire homing missiles at you.
Deal with him first before landing.
- There are 2 hostages just before the village.
- Destroy the village for 4 more hostages.
NOTE: If you are too lazy to destroy it, land such that the bad guy to
the right is on-screen and he'll shoot at the village and free the
hostages.
- Go to the right for 3 more hostages; they'll be near a bonus.
- Go further to the right until you see the big grey tank. You have to
destroy it now. It's quite tough so just use all your specials for
a quick fight. You'll be able to move to the right once you've
destroyed it.
- Do not destroy the hut you'll see afterwards yet. Kill the enemy to
right first and you may then destroy the hut for 2 hostages.
- Go the right and you'll see 2 more hostages.
- Go past the bridge and take out the tank on the way.
- There is one hostage near the edge of the bridge.
- Destroy the village for 4 hostages.
- There is one more to the right of the village (at least, what remains
of it...)! :P
- Your ally is next to the bridge.
- There are 2 more hostages to the right on the upper ledge.
- Go past the long bridge and completely to the right for the last 3
hostages.
***SECTOR 1, LEVEL 4***
Number of hostages to be rescued: 20
Number of hostages available: 26
- Go to the left, taking the 4 bonuses along the way.
- After dealing with the man at the top, destroy the village to rescue
4 hostages.
- Go to the left again and you'll notice 2 hostages. Note though that
there are mines on either side of them. Destroy the mines first and
then, land on the ground to rescue these 2.
- There are 2 more hostages on the bridge but destroy the tank first
and kill the enemies before landing.
HINT: If you can afford it, let the crates explode on the tank for
good damage.
- Be careful of the hut that you'll see next. There are 2 hostages in
it but there are mines around it. Once you've destroyed the mines,
shoot at the hut to liberate the hostages.
HINT: Destroy _only_ the mine on the right and land immediately
afterwards. The bad guy to the left will destroy the house for you.
- Destroy the second hut near the bridge for 2 more hostages.
- Go past the bridge up to the village but don't destroy it yet. Instead,
go a bit to the left and rescue the 2 hostages.
- Now, destroy the village to free 4 hostages.
- Continue left and rescue the lonely hostage by the foot of the huge
mountain.
- Go past the hill and you'll see 2 more hostages and a soldier near a
small village. Take out the solider first and land to rescue the
couple of soldiers.
- Next, destroy the small village to free 4 hostages.
- There is another one to the left of the village but he should make
it in your direction along with the 4 ones you've just liberated. If
he doesn't, just land to the left of the village and he'll be rescued
too.
- Further to the left is your ally. Go say hi to him if you're badly
hit.
- Once you've returned all these hostages to the base, you'll be able
to move to the right.
- Go past the new base on the hilltop. Beware though, you cannot turn
back once you've passed over it!
- Go right and destroy the cannons. Use your bombs but just make sure
you still have a lot left after taking care of them.
- Once they're all destroyed, toggle to the right such that you face
the big gun and destroy it. You need to aim at the red circle, it's
the only place where it'll take damage. The level is over once you've
destroyed it.
***SECTOR 2, LEVEL 1***
Number of hostages to be rescued: 11
Number of hostages available: 15
- Go left first, take care of the soldier and take the bonus.
- Go to the right now.
- There's one hostage next to the first 2 soldiers. Kill these 2 first
before landing down to rescue the waving hostage.
- When you see the grey spot next to the lone soldier, shoot at it to
destroy it. Now, go down the hole that has just been formed.
- Go the the left first and destroy the tank. Once the tank is no more,
toggle to the left and shoot at the wall to destroy it. Go through
the opening and take care of the 2 soldiers.
- Go further to left, kill the soldier and rescue the hostage who's
near him.
- You must now destroy the container to the extreme left here. To do
so, simply toggle so as to face it and use any weapon to destroy it.
2 hostages will come out of it.
- Once you've rescued the hostages, go back to the left until you come
to the secret passage again.
- From here, go right and rescue the hostage near the soldier. Of course,
kill the soldier first. ^_^
- Destroy the container to the right to free 2 more hostages.
- Go the right and destroy the cannon before taking the bonus. Next,
toggle to the right and shoot at the wall to enable a passageway.
- Kill the soldier and rescue the 2 hostages on the upper ledge.
- Move up to the upper ledge and rescue the hostage there.
- Now, destroy the container to the right to liberate 2 more hostages.
- Once you're done here, retrace your steps and go up again.
- Continue to the right once you emerge from the hole (go the the base
first if necessary!).
NOTE: You'll meet a lot of soldiers who drop out from parachutes as
from here. Be on the look-out for those. There's also an enemy chopper
who'll start chasing you from time to time (it occurs randomly) and
you'll have to defeat it before moving on.
- Continue to the right until you see another grey spot with a hostage
near it. Rescue him first before blasting the passage.
- Go the the left from where you drop down and destroy the wall to take
the bonuses.
- Your ally is further to the left but you'll have to destroy a turret
found above him first. Go to him if you need and once he's done,
return to the right.
- Now, go down the long hole (there will be rockets coming from it!).
- Kill the enemy first and rescue the last 2 hostages.
***SECTOR 2, LEVEL 2***
Number of hostages to be rescued: 20
Number of hostages available: 25
- Go to the left first and destroy the underground base.
- You'll immediately see 2 hostages along with a heavily-armed soldier
as you go down. Kill the enemy before landing for the 2 hostages.
- Once you're done, here go back up.
- Go left a little and you should see a soldier who's using a homing
rocket-launcher at you. Kill him and then land down close to the tree.
A hostage will come out of the house a bit to the right! :)
- Go further to the left and shoot at the second blocked entry.
- Once you're down, go to the left and kill the annoying soldier who's
constantly firing up at you.
- Toggle to the left to destroy the metal opening so that you may move
on.
- Go down the next hole.
- After taking care of the tank, go straight down and take the bonus if
you wish.
- Continue to the left and rescue the hostage after killing the soldier.
- Destroy the container to liberate 2 more hostages.
- After rescuing all 3 of them, go back to the right until you reach
the passageway which you used earlier but don't go up yet. Instead,
head to the right.
- Land down shortly after the passage to rescue 1 more hostage. Beware
though, there's a soldier nearby.
- Head further to the right. There is a wall which you need to destroy
but most of the time, the enemies will have destroyed it beforehand.
- Destroy the tank there and rescue the hostage.
- Now, you may just destroy the container to free 2 more hostages who'll
come waving at you.
- Return to the upper level.
- Once you reach the upper level (the one with the metal opening), head
to the left. You'll have to destroy the wall to do so but I guess you
know how it's done now! ^_^
- Land down to rescue the hostage you'll see shortly afterwards.
- Take care of the tank to the left and rescue the hostage nearby.
- Next, destroy the tank nearby for 2 more hostages.
- Once you're done goofing around here, return above for some fresh air.
- From where you emerge, go to the left and take care of the enemies
you'll encounter. You'll have to battle 2 tanks along the way but
they're not that difficult provided you have some bombs.
- There's another hostage to the extreme left but he's guarded by a
tank. So, destroy the tank first and rescue the poor man.
- Next, go to the right past the base and destroy the first underground
passage that you'll see and go down it. Be careful of the gun and the
turret as you go down!
- From here, go to the left first. You may destroy the containers if
you wish but these ones don't hold any hostages unlike the previous
ones.
- Go further to the left and shoot at the wall to be able to move on.
- Kill the soldier and rescue the hostage.
- Destroy the tank for 2 more hostages.
- Once you're done, return to the right until you reach the spot from
where you dropped down. Continue to the right, taking the bonus as
you move.
- Destroy the wall before moving on.
- Take the bonus and fly on until you see a container and 2 hostages
guarded by a soldier to its right. The container doesn't hold any
hostages, so don't use your time with it. Kill the hostage and land
for those 2 hostages.
- Next, destroy the container near the edge of the screen and 2 more
hostages will come out of it. Once you've collected them, go back up.
- Head to the right again and go down the next passage.
- Once inside, head to the left, destroying the wall along the way.
- Rescue the 3 hostages and return to the right past the tank.
- Destroy the wall here to move on.
- You'll now see your ally. You can land to have him repair your chopper
but kill the soldier to his left first otherwise, the latter will
keep shooting at you.
- Once it's over, return to the base to end this sector with all the
hostages freed!
***SECTOR 2, LEVEL 3***
Number of hostages to be rescued: 20
Number of hostages available: 25
- From your base, head left and go down the passage. You need to be
careful of the cannon that will shoot up at you though!
- Once you've destroyed the cannon, head to the right. Destroy the
metal wall to move on.
- You'll see your ally here. Land if you need and continue to the right.
- Kill the soldier and rescue the 3 hostages.
- Destroy the container to free 2 more hostages.
- Return to the passageway and go further down until you reach the
bottom.
- Move to the right after taking care of the turret and the cannon.
- You'll meet a lot of enemies here. It's better to destroy them as
they'll keep shooting at you like mad and make things very difficult
for you.
- Move on and kill the soldier so that you may land down and rescue the
hostage.
- Go to the right and shoot at the wall to access the next section.
- Kill the soldier and land down to rescue the 2 hostages without
forgetting the take the new kick-ass bonus.
- Return above. If you're badly hurt, you may just drop by at your
ally's place and he'll be happy to heal you! :)
- Head to the right, past your base until you see the next passageway.
Go down it.
- Kill the soldier and the turret as you go down.
- Next, head to the left and take the bonus along the way.
- Destroy the cannon and land down to save the 3 musketeers,...I mean,
soldiers! ^_^
- Next, go back and this time head to the right.
- Destroy the first tank with a missile and you'll get a bonus item.
- Head to the right and get ready for a boss. This weird machine (it
looks a lot like the turtle's underground vehicle in TMNT!!) comes
out of holes and will shoot rays at you. It will also cause rocks
to drop down. First, take out its weapons and unload your bombs and
missiles at it to make a quick job out of this!
HINT: There's a very quick way to defeat it. Simply take out its first
weapon and shoot at it until it changes colour 3 times. Now, use the
kick-ass bonus you got earlier (it's the big white missile). It'll
destroy the boss instantly.
- Once you've deal with it, head to the right and take the bonuses.
- Next, kill the soldier and rescue the hostage.
- Go a bit to the right for 2 more hostages who are guarded by another
soldier.
- Then, go further to the right until you see 3 hostages next to a
cannon. Shoot at the cannon first and rescue the 3 hostages.
- Go back up. Drop the hostages at your base if you need to.
- Head to the right once more until you reach the next blocked passage.
Go down it and destroy the turret along the way.
- Go to the left and take the bonus along the way.
- Destroy the cannon and rescue the hostages.
- Rescue the next hostage who's a bit to the left of the trio on an
upper ledge.
- Keep going to the left.
- Once you reach the point with another 3 hostages, take out the enemy
first and land down to save these. Go back up once you're done here.
- Return to the base and you'll have completed the level. But be on
the look-out for the blackhawk that will chase you along the way.
You'd be much better destroying it first!
***SECTOR 2, LEVEL 4***
Number of hostages to be rescued: 25
Number of hostages available: 27
- From your base, go left and grab the bonus on the way.
- Kill the 2 soldiers and rescue the hostage before moving on to the
left.
- Shoot at the blocked passage and go down until you see a cannon and
another passage to the left.
- Destroy the cannon and go through the passage.
- You will come across one of those metal walls now. Destroy it to be
able to move on.
- Destroy the tank and go further to left until you see a hostage
surrounded by 2 soldiers. Take out the soldiers first and rescue him.
- Next, just go to the right and land on the bonus. The soldier there
will come over to you by himself.
- Go to the right and take out the cannon to be able to rescue the 3
hostages. Then, go back to the passageway where you cam down.
- From here, go down and destroy the turret that'll greet you at the
bottom.
- Now, kill the soldier with the gun to rescue yet another hostage.
- Move on to the right.
- Kill the soldier again and land to get the hostage in your chopper.
Don't forget to take the bonus!
- When you are able to go down, do so all the way and you should see
another hostage below.
- You may now go either to the left or to the right. I suggest going to
the right first.
- Keep going on past the tank. You'll finally see you ally. Land to have
him repair your chopper. By going further to the right, you will be
able to collect 2 bonuses. Once you're done, head to the left and
when you reach the opening, it's left this time.
- Destroy the wall to move on.
- Go to the left until you spot 2 hostages but they're guarded by a
soldier who's armed with a rocket launcher. There is also a grey
container near them. Take out the soldier first and destroy the
container to free 2 more hostages. You may now land safely for all
4 of them.
- Keep going left now.
- Rescue the lone hostage on the upper legde. Be careful of the turret!
It'd be better for you to take it out first.
- A bit to the left is another container. But before destroying it,
move once more until the turret becomes on-screen. Destroy it first.
The container is empty, you may dsetroy it for the score if you want
though.
- Head to the left once you're over here.
- You'll eventually see another hostage but he's guarded by a soldier.
Note also the container. Kill the soldier and destroy the container
for 2 more hostages. Rescue all of them and collect the bonuses too.
- You're done here. Return up. You may want to have your life restored
first though!
- Head to the left once you're up.
- You'll then see a hostage with a tank nearby. Don't worry about the
tank, it can't fire at you but don't rescue the hostage yet. 5
soldiers will come out of the tanks after a while. Kill them all and
destroy the tank. You may then rescue the hostage. After that, it's
once more to the left.
- Before destroying the next underground passage, destroy the turret
first. It will fire at you constantly and unlike the previous ones,
this one can aim diagonally too. Now, go down.
- When you get down, destroy the turret first and head to the right.
- The 2 containers near the slope are empty, don't bother about them.
- Kill the soldier further to the right and rescue the couple of
soldiers.
- There are 3 more hostages a bit to the right. Once you've saved them,
go back to the left. You may now head to the other side and see if
there are any more hostages.
- Go down when you reach the wall and you'll see 2 hostages. Rescue
them. Next, turn your chopper to the right and destroy the wall
before moving on.
- Kill the soldier, destroy the container and save the 2 hostages that
were in it. Don't forget the bonus. You're done here, go up until
you're finally out of those damn tunnels.
- Return to the base. You have rescued the 25 hostages and even 2 more
(probably those that they didn't care about ^_^).
- But wait, it's not over yet! You will now be able to go to the right
and you'll soon see an underground passage. Go down!
NOTE: Don't bother going further to the right while you're up. There
are only enemies there and no hostages.
- Once you're down, head right!
- Go past the huge machine and destroy the turret. Once the turret is
destroyed, a light will light up below and a small machine will fire
at you. Destroy it.
- Head to the right and you'll see another one up. Obviously, you need
to fly high up in order to aim at it. You will also notice how there
nothing on next to the machine but that there are circuits everywhere
else. DO NOT FLY BELOW THE EMPTY PARTS!! Why? Because while you're
shooting at the machine, some sprays will fall down and you will never
be able to acoid those. So, just stay below the circuit but you need
to be careful and precise so that the machine remains on-screen.
Destroy it as soon as you can!
- Once you've done that, the green light will trigger some weapons and
you just need to destroy the light to end the level.

HINTS
=======
Useful tips which should help you!
- Use your healing ally as often as you can. He will repair your chopper
but note that he can only do so for a certain amount of health.
I had thought it was infinite but I was wrong. He will heal you only
up to a certain extent. It seems he is himself tired after a while.
- Save your specials for bigger and tougher enemies. Don't waste them on
single soldiers.
- Always take out the enemies around the hostages (if any) before
landing and rescuing them. They will keep shooting at you if they're
around when you land and you'll most probably die.
- To take out turrets easily, just follow this procedure. Hover slightly
below them so that they will shoot diagonally. Now, just wait until
they fire their first shot. Once they do this, just go up and shoot
at them while they can only shoot diagonally. ^_^
