This is a walkthrough for the Gameboy game called
Animaniacs. To contact me about this guide, use my email

003. Walkthrough
-----------------------------------------------------------
003a. Intro Stage
-----------------------------------------------------------
You start off at the water tower. Drop down to the ground
below. Yakko here has two abilities. He can use a paddle
ball to fight enemies, by pressing the B button. He can
also push boxes. You can use B and the control pad to pull
a box.
Go to the right and you find a box. Practice pushing and
pulling it with Yakko. Push it all the way to the right,
then jump on the box. Jump from the box to the top of the
wall.
Keep going right. Use select to switch to Wakko. When you
press the B button as Wakko, he uses a mallet. His mallet
attack is slightly faster, if you use it in midair. Use the
mallet on the bomb fuse to light the bomb and clear the
path to the right.
Keep going right. You find a dog. Use select to switch to
Dot. When you press the B button as Dot, she uses a heart
attack. Use this attack on the dog to make it lie down. You
can now go right, to finish the intro stage.
003b. Stage One
-----------------------------------------------------------
Screen 1
--------
Use Yakko to push the crate to the right, so you can jump
to the top of the cliffside. Right of here, there is a bird
on a swinging platform. Use Dot's heart attack to get rid
of the bird, then jump onto the swinging platform. When it
is on the right side, you can jump off of it and land on
the otherwise-impassable movie camera.
There are two swinging platforms to the right of the movie
camera. Jump to the first one, then jump to the second one,
then jump to the cliffside. Walk right to find a cannon.
Use Yakko's mallet to light the fuse, then jump in the
cannon to be shot to the right.
Head to the right. There are no enemies or anything here.
Eventually, you find a man walking around. Use Dot's heart
attack on the man, and he will stop walking. You can then
jump on top of his head, then jump from his head to the
next platform.
In the next area, switch to Yakko. Pull the box to the
right, until you see spikes. If you touch those spikes, you
will die. Push the box on the spikes, then jump on top of
the box. Do you see the lights hanging in the air? You can
jump on them, but your weight causes them to fall. Jump
from light to light, and at the end of the series of
lights, you can jump over the spikes and walk right to the
exit.
Screen 2
--------
Jump into the boat, and it will sail to the right. There
are crocodiles in the water here. When you are to the right
of a crocodile, it will go upwards and attempt to bite you.
When this happens, jump to avoid the crocodile's attack.
There are also lights here. You will have to jump over the
lights in order to avoid them, otherwise, it is possible
they will knock you off the boat and into the water.
At the end of this area, you meet Ralph, the security
guard. He is riding on a crocodile. Use Yakko's paddle-ball
attack on Ralph three times, in order to defeat him.
Screen 3
--------
The boat stops near a waterfall. You want to get to the
right side of the waterfall, by jumping across the logs.
There are three passages, branching off of the right side
of the waterfall. The first path is locked, the second one
has a timer, and the third one has a switch and some fruit.
Use Wakko's mallet on the switch in the lower/right
passage. This unlocks the passage in the upper/right. You
will have to jump from log to log in order to climb up the
waterfall and reach the newly-opened area. Be sure not to
fall and land on the metal device at the bottom of the
waterfall!
Screen 4
--------
There is a large seesaw here. Use Wakko's mallet on the
left side to lift up the boulder on the right. It will then
fall, sending the left side up.
If you are standing on the left side of the seesaw, then
you hit it, you will be thrown upwards. You want to get
thrown upwards and land on the right side. A number of
stone boulders are falling here. Jump on top of one and
ride it down to the area below. Make sure you don't
accidentally jump on top of Ralph, pretending to be a
boulder!
The boulder bounces you over a spike pit. Instead of riding
a boulder over a pit, you can walk across it, but that
takes away health.
Go right and jump over a pit to reach another seesaw. Use
this seesaw to go up and right, to a third seesaw. Use this
seesaw to go up and right, to the exit.
Screen 5
--------
This area has platforms which appear and disappear. You
want to go to the right, by jumping across the platforms.
If you fall down, you must go back to the left and try
again. There are snakes on the bottom of this area, which
you want to avoid.
With the first series of platforms, you want to jump to the
right as the leftmost platform is disappearing. Then, jump
from platform to platform to the safe point. With the
second series, jump from platform to platform as they
appear.
In the next area, use Wakko's mallet on the treasure chest.
This reveals hidden blocks in the sky above you. To get
through this area, you have to jump across the hidden
blocks in the sky. The first one is under the banana, and
the others are all a long jump away from each other.
In the next area, you have multiple rocks. As Wakko, use
the mallet on the small blocks in the lower/right. This
destroys them, causing a large rock to fall. Switch to
Yakko and pull the box to the right. You can jump from the
box to the platform, and comfortably walk over the large
rock that you made fall.
In the next area, you have a water spout. You can go right
from it to get a star, if you want. Your goal is to ride it
to the top and jump to the right, so you can continue.
There are two boxes here. Pull the left box to the right,
so you can jump to the platform. You can jump over the
other box and keep walking right. There is a lollipop below
you, but don't go down to get it! That's a trap. As soon as
you touch it, you have to restart this screen.
In the next area, there are two switches. The left switch
is a trap. Hit it as Wakko, then go away. As soon as you
hit the switch, a spike platform falls down. If you're too
close, it will hurt you. Fortunately for you, the spike
platform holds the switch down.
When the left switch is held down by the spike platform,
hit the right switch. This opens the exit door to the
right.
Boss Fight
----------
The boss of this area is Ralph. He walks back and forth on
the platform above, dropping bombs. You must avoid these
bombs, because if you are standing near one when it
explodes, it does damage. Standing on the raised end of the
seesaw ensures that you are too far away from the bombs to
damage you.
Occasionally, Ralph walks off to the left and appears on
the bottom part of the screen. When this happens, use
Yakko's paddle ball attack to hurt him.
To hurt Ralph when he is at the top of the screen, use
Wakko's mallet on the seesaw. This sends the boulder
directly upwards. If Ralph is standing in the way of the
boulder, he is hurt. If Ralph is not close to the boulder,
he doesn't take any damage from it.
When Ralph is injured by the boulder, five rocks appear on
the platform. They will fall downwards. You must avoid
these rocks, or else you will be injured by them.
Once you hit Ralph enough times, he falls off of the
screen. You can then go right and jump up the platforms to
get the prize that Ralph was guarding.
003c. Stage Two
-----------------------------------------------------------
Screen 1
--------
Go to the right, and you run into Ralph, who is throwing
bombs. Ralph stays in place, but he throws the bombs in
several locations. The bombs explode when they hit the
ground, and you need to dodge the explosions to avoid being
hurt. At the same time, you want to use Yakko's paddle ball
on Ralph to injure him. Hit Ralph enough times, and he
leaves.
After this, horses run across the screen. You must jump
over the horses, because you are injured if they run into
you. There is a tall cactus which blocks your way; this
requires you to jump onto a horse, then jump onto the
cactus. Do this with two tall cacti, and keep going right.
Past the horses, you need to pull a box as Yakko, so you
can reach a high platform. With the next box, you can jump
off of it to a platform with a toddler named Mindy. She
runs away, which causes her dog Buttons to chase her. When
this happens, you can go to Buttons' area to get a health-
refilling apple. Alternately, you can just skip Buttons and
Mindy and walk right to the next area.
Screen 2
--------
You are inside an area with barrels. Jump up to the
barrels, where you have two boxes. Pull the right box to
the right, then push both boxes right, so they cover up
spikes. This allows you to reach the exit.
Screen 3
--------
The bridge here has a camera on it, which is too high for
you to pass over. Instead, go left. Do you see something in
the upper/left corner? Use Wakko's mallet to knock it down,
and hit it with the mallet a second time. The bridge
lowers, so you can pass.
To the right of this area, Ralph appears with a pie gun. He
shoots pies at your feet. Jump to avoid them, and use
Yakko's paddle to knock Ralph backwards. Do this a few
times, until you reach the next building.
Screen 4
--------
The chandeliers here will fall, as soon as you go under
them. Head right carefully, and when a chandelier starts to
fall, dodge by going left.
Past the first chandelier, you come across the main
challenge of this building: barrels. Barrels roll across
the floor, in groups of four. You want to jump on top of
them or over them. The first area is not so bad, as there
are platforms you can stand on to avoid the barrels.
However, there are also two chandeliers to look out for.
After this, there is a small set of stairs. It might be
easier to wait for the barrels to pass by, before going up
them. Past them, the pathway continues up and right.
You have two choices here. You can go up the pathway right
now. Alternately, you can go right and hit a switch as
Wakko to lower the platforms to the left. Go back left and
jump up the platforms to reach stage lights. Jump across
the stage lights, and on two of the stage lights, you get a
health-refilling bunch of grapes.
No matter which route you pick, you end up in the same
area. Go right some more, and you see a small incline that
the barrels go off of. You can stand safely to the left of
the incline.
Past this, you reach some platforms above the ground. Jump
along the platforms to reach the right end of this screen,
where Buttons and Mindy are running on barrels. Simply jump
on their barrels to get rid of them.
There is a switch here which you can hit as Wakko. That
causes the stairs to the right to turn into a slope. Other
than that, it has no effect.
Screen 5
--------
You are outside again. Go right, and push the box to the
right as Yakko. This will allow you to jump to a platform,
which allows you to jump to another platform, high in the
air. This platform has a box on it.
Push the box onto the ground and push it right. This is
tricky. Do NOT push it so far to the right that it lands on
the fire below. If it DOES land on the fire, go left and go
back right to reset the challenge.
What you want to do is push the box far right, so you can
jump from the box to a platform on the right. This gives
you access to another box. Push this box left onto the
fire. You can jump from this box to the safe ground to the
right.
Go to the right to find another box challenge. This one is
optional; what you want to do is use Wakko's hammer to
destroy the broken rocks, then use the boxes to allow
yourself safe passage to the extra life. When you're done
with this, head left and right again to reset the boxes.
A fire pit is to the right of the extra life challenge. You
want to push and pull both boxes from the extra life
challenge onto the fire pit, so you can safely cross.
After that is a seesaw. Use Wakko's hammer on the seesaw to
go upwards, where there are disappearing and reappearing
platforms. Go left across the platforms to reach the exit.
Boss Fight
----------
This is a difficult boss fight. Jump onto the train and go
through the train car to start the battle. Ralph is on the
rails behind you. He will throw pies at you, and you have
to dodge them.
On the train car in the middle (the lower one) is a pie
dispenser. You want to hit it with Wakko's hammer. This
causes it to shoot a pie towards Ralph. The pie dispenser
moves after every use, and Ralph is constantly moving left
and right, making it difficult to hit him. To make matters
worse, you can't dodge while Wakko is using the hammer.
Hit Ralph enough times, and he is defeated temporarily. Go
right to the next train car, where you can push boxes to
get a health refill.
In the next part of the train, you have to push a box as
Yakko, then jump from the box to the top of a camera. Your
goal is to do this, while having the box as far away from
the camera as possible. If the box is too close to the
camera, Ralph will automatically kill you.
The final section of the boss fight takes place at the
engine. Do you see the switch here? Hit it, when Ralph is
standing on the coal box. This hurts Ralph, but look out! A
coal bounces from the coal box, to the roof of the train,
to the area right of the box. You need to dodge this, or
you'll be hurt. So hit the switch, and as soon as possible,
jump on the coal box.
You also don't want to stand in place, doing nothing,
because Ralph will hurt you if you do so.
Hurt Ralph enough times to get the prize Ralph was
guarding.
003d. Stage Three
-----------------------------------------------------------
Screen 1
--------
We're in for a spooky time in this stage! Go to the right
to see the boss of the stage: a vampire. Jump through the
vampire and continue going right. Past a series of dark
gray tombstones, you reach some light gray tombstones that
you can push and pull.
If you want to, move the tombstone to the side and drop
down to the bottom area to get some goodies. From there,
you have to use Wakko's hammer to destroy a block to the
right to continue.
Past this area is a haystack. When you jump on it, you are
sent far to the left by a jack-in-the-box. Go back right.
This time, you have to solve a minor puzzle. Push the
tombstone on the top, and drop to the lower area. Push the
left tombstone right all the way, then push the right
tombstone right to the platform. Destroy the block with
Wakko's hammer, push the left tombstone right all the way,
then push the right tombstone right all the way. You can
jump from the tombstone to the top of the jack-in-the-box.
From there, go right. Past an odd coffin, you reach
switches on the ground. Push a tombstone on a switch to
make something happen. For example, push a tombstone on the
first switch to make a doorway open.
Right of this is an area with two tombstones. Push the
higher tombstone left, onto a switch. That opens the
doorway to the right, so you can continue with the stage.
Screen 2
--------
In this area, there are flying books. They regularly
alternate between staying in place and flying around. Avoid
the books as well as you can; it is possible (but
difficult) to jump over them if they are low enough.
Screen 3
--------
The chandeliers in this room will fall to the ground once
you get close, so walk right to a chandelier, then go left
the instant it starts falling, in order to dodge them. A
flying book is at the end of this room, by stairs.
Screen 4
--------
A miniboss battle against the vampire is here! The vampire
will shoot three fireballs horizontally, then jump to the
opposite side of the screen. When he jumps, he shoots two
more fireballs. Fortunately, there is a crate in this room
that you can hide behind to protect yourself.
What you want to do is move the crate to the right. This
puts you at the same level as the vampire's head, if it is
on the right. Turn into Dot, then use her heart attack on
the vampire's head to get rid of it.
Push the crate right, then continue right. There is a tall
statue here. Use Wakko's hammer to destroy the statue, then
push a crate to the right.
After this is a challenge against Pinky and the Brain, two
mice with aspirations of world domination. They cause the
four bottles in the cupboard to fly at their machine, at a
steady pace. You need to jump over the bottles to avoid
them. You also need to avoid touching the machine, or you
get hurt.
Once you jump over enough bottles, the machine explodes. Go
left and use Wakko's hammer to destroy a block, then pull
the crate to the right, so you can use it to jump over the
cupboard.
After this is a matching challenge. Push and pull the
blocks into the right places, so they match! Specifically,
push the triangle block right to the triangle, pull the
circle block left to the circle, and push the square block
right to the square. Doing this correctly opens a gate to
the right.
From here, push a crate all the way to the right. Jump on
the crate and push a second crate right. You can now reach
the exit.
Screen 5
--------
At the beginning here, you can drop down to get a timer, if
you want.
Head left, and you will reach a log that floats left and
right. Ride this log to the left side, but be careful of
the part of the ceiling which drops nasty water down. You
don't want it to fall of you!
You CAN bring a crate along with you, if you want, but
there is no need to do so. It's possible to get through the
area without a crate.
Past the log is a pole. Jump on it to continue left. Left
of this area is a pit, with an extra life. Ignore the extra
life for now, and jump left over the pit. Again, be careful
when you jump, because this part of the ceiling can drop
nasty water on you.
To the left of this area, drop down to the ground. Push the
crate to the left, and this drains all the water from the
right part of the room. Jump up the platforms, then fall
down the pit on the right to get an extra life.
From here, you can easily go right. Jump over the spikes,
then go up. Walk to the left here for a crate, which you
must push all the way to the right side of the stage, in
order to reach the exit.
Boss Fight
----------
Do this boss battle as Wakko. In this fight, the vampire
appears on one of four platforms. He will send three
fireball attacks in the direction he is facing, then he
will disappear. The vampire repeats this attack pattern for
the entire fire.
In order to fight the boss, go to the platform which is
diagonally opposite of the one that the vampire is on. For
example, if the vampire is in the upper/left platform, go
to the lower/right platform. Use Wakko's hammer on this
platform to make the vampire fall. If you are not on the
correct platform, the vampire will not fall.
Once the vampire falls enough times, you get the special
item you've been looking for.
003e. Stage Four
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you are playing on easy mode, you see the ending of the
game after beating the first three stages; afterwards, you
are given a password which unlocks Stage 4. If you are
playing on a different mode, the game automatically unlocks
Stage 4 unlocked.
Screen 1
--------
This starts off with a crate challenge. Push the left crate
right all the way. This gives you access to two crates,
which are stacked. Push the bottom crate right all the way,
then push the upper crate right all the way. You can jump
from this crate to the next area.
Oh no! Ralph is here! Jump over Ralph and go right.
Screen 2
--------
There is a seesaw device here. Quickly, use Wakko's hammer
on the device to propel yourself up and right, out of
Ralph's reach. Go all the way right from there to another
seesaw. Use it to propel yourself up.
Jump up the platforms here and jump to the left. Here, you
have another seesaw, with an added challenge: fire coming
out of the walls. Time your use of the seesaw so you go
upwards, but you don't get hit by the fire. You need to do
this challenge four times; every time, the fire is in a
different spot, which changes the challenge a bit.
Once you've gone through all the seesaws, go all the way
right. Drop down two levels, then go right to the next
screen.
Screen 3
--------
This screen is very difficult. It is a timed challenge; you
need to get from the left side of the screen to the right,
before time runs out. It takes about a minute to beat this
challenge.
To help speed things along, you should double-tap select to
quickly switch characters, and you should use Wakko's
hammer attack in midair (which is slightly faster than if
you use the attack, while he is standing on the ground).
Begin the challenge by hitting the switch with Wakko's
hammer. First, you must hit a series of three switches with
Wakko's hammer. From there, go right as quickly as
possible. It's faster to ignore the items than it is to
collect them.
After going down an incline, switch to Yakko. Pull a crate
left, so you can jump on it, then jump on the platform. You
must immediately jump again, over a gas container.
A crate is in your way, so push it right. When you can,
jump over the crate and another gas container. You then
have to jump right, over a gap. If you don't make the jump,
you land on a pit of spikes.
Past that, you need to hit a series of two switches with
Wakko's hammer. Walk right again, and you have a series of
disappearing and reappearing platforms. Jump from platform
to platform, and you end up by a crate.
As Wakko, hit the switch to the right. Turn into Yakko,
then pull the crate right. Jump onto the crate, then jump
right off of it to a safe platform. This is very difficult,
because you're near the end of your time limit at this
point, and the crate may fall. Once you make the jump, go
directly right to the exit.
Screen 4
--------
Go right and get the Oscar, I mean, Felix Statue.
Boss Fight
----------
Pinky and the Brain steal all of the Animaniacs' items! You
need to fight them.
The mice are inside a robot. The robot has two attacks.
First, it throws bombs out. These bombs will bounce to the
left and off of the screen. You can dodge these bombs by
standing still in the correct spots, or by running
underneath them.
The second attack the robot has is a kick. It will stand in
place for a while, doing nothing, then it kicks forward.
When you see this attack coming, go left to dodge it.
Fortunately for you, the robot always stays on the right
side of the screen. It does not go to the left half of the
screen.
To defeat the robot, you want to use Dot's heart attack on
Pinkie. When you do this, Pinkie will throw out an unlit
bomb. You can push and pull this bomb as Yakko, and you can
use Wakko's hammer to set off the bomb's fuse.
You want to set off the bomb, so it explodes when the robot
is close to it. That causes springs to fall out of the
robot. Do this enough times to win. This can be difficult,
because the robot moves in an unpredictable pattern.
If one of the robot's bouncing bombs hits the unlit bomb,
both will explode.
